Skeleton Crew - Can’t Say I Remember No At Attin Thoughts
"Perhaps someday, when I am leader of the Triok, I will remember your ways. I see now. You weakness...it makes you kind. And my world could use some kindness." Hayna
Tumblr media
This was a pretty noice follow-up to the last episode. It was a lot more focused on the character interactions as home seems to be ever far away.
Those satellites at the opening look very much like the ones used for Operation Cinder. Given some of the Imperial-looking uniforms (especially the Imperial Army Trooper helmets) in the episode and the destruction of the world, I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case. But Jesus, if their world was destroyed by Operation Cinder, that's one hell of a dark backstory for At Achrann. Especially given how Jod even said,
"This is At Attin? It tastes like ashy dust. Looks a lot like my home planet, actually." Jod Na Nawood
It has to be Operation Cinder unless the satellites are part of a similar barrier system (or the world could've been hidden by different methods). I also wonder how bad Jod's world must've been for him to make that comparison. I can't wait for that Episode 7 Jod lore.
Jod's "kill me" look and line delivery just killed me. He's so sick of this BS now lmao. I honestly thought he and SM-33 kicked all their asses but it just turned out he just gave them Old Republic credits haha.
Also very interesting that the Hattan army seems to have a CIS tank as well alongside the Imperial Army Trooper helmets. The world must've been destroyed and known to the galaxy for quite for some time by that point.
Neel is pretty brutally honest about his friends, lmao. I love seeing his kindness shine through in such a hellish, war-torn world. I also like seeing his brief friendship and relationship with Hayna, who only knew war and nothing of a possible peaceful life. Plus unlike the girl he had a crush on in Episode 1, she actually knows who he is. Given how Episode 3 focused a lot on KB and this episode on Neel, I wonder if Episode 5 will focus on Fern and Episode 6 will focus on Wim.
It's pretty sad how the Triok and Hattan are stuck in a forever war and only trading for weapons, especially given the implications of the world being a victim of Operation Cinder. The idea of child soldiers being normalized in the world is pretty disturbing much less how desertion is met with death even applied to kids. I still find it insane to see on-screen aftermath of Operation Cinder in this episode, especially on this show.
Tumblr media
I also like how we see that for all of Fern's tough front, and she's just as scared of being truly lost forever.
SM-33 continues to be a comedic riot even when we see him being terrifying. God, when SM-33 was remembering his old Captain's orders and his voice started distorting into a nightmarish tone, that was pretty chilling. I would like it if the treasure was actually a legit stereotypical pirate's treasure.
This was a noice follow-up episode and I hope Episode 5 continues to expand on the mystery of At Attin.
Tumblr media
"I do remember At Attin. It was in this very room. The captain killed any of his crew that saw the coordinates to At Attin. Slaughtered them, he did. Then he ordered me to destroy them and forget everything I knew about At Attin. And then he told me, if anyone ever comes around poking around, looking for the treasure... He told me to pull them apart. Pull 'em apart. Pull 'em apart. Pull 'em apart. Limb from limb. Limb from limb. Limb from limb! Limb from limb! Limb from limb! Limb from Limb." SM-33

If you grew up on a crappy neglected planet you’re allowed a little showboating as a treat.
(Genuinely tho, I love both characters and the parallels are there!)

Sad goth girl acquired. I also got a Bailu so lost the 50/50 as I had hoped. (She's not Clara but I guess it's fine...)
And then I thought, Hanya's e4 looks nice... I'm at 0 pity, what's the worst that can happen??

Mommy, does Hayna escape from her ghoul in the end? [...] and my mom still hasn’t finished the story for me.

I keep seeing takes on how the child soldiers were unnecessarily edgy for Skeleton Crew, but here's the thing:
The actress who plays Hayna? She was 13 when Skeleton Crew was filmed.
Ahsoka was 14 when she joined the front lines of the Clone Wars. Caleb was on the front lines at 14. Ezra was 14 when he joined the Ghost crew. And yeah, you can talk about how of course Star Wars has child protagonists when it's trying to appeal to a child audience, and about how it hits different in animation than in live action, but the fact remains: Star Wars has always had child soldiers. What's surprising about Skeleton Crew isn't that young teenagers are fighting wars, it's that its protagonists got actual childhoods.
There's a moment in Port Borgo where Melna the dancer sees Fern and KB and says "Are you--are you children?" and on first watch I thought her confusion was that she's Theelin and doesn't have a great grasp on how to read human ages. But now I wonder if that's not it at all. She knows they're roughly 12. But she's lived through the fall of the Empire. She's used to 12 year olds who know how to pick up blasters and fight. Seeing 12 year olds who act the way she expects much younger kids to act--that's the confusing part to her. Are they children? They're acting like little kids, but in her world they're old enough to be treated almost as adults.
They just missed the war, that's all. And what that says about the rest of the galaxy breaks my heart.

Skeleton Crew S1E4:
Title made me laugh ngl (I read it in his voice)
Did not expect the episode to begin with them finding At Attin, but okay.
They are in so much trouble lmao.
Plot twist: Silvo's actually from At Attin and he doesn't know it.
"Onto the ship. Don't make me count." SM-33 is really just a parent in disguise.
I don't think it's occurred to them that maybe they landed in an uninhabited area? Like, maybe on the wrong side of the planet or something?
LMAO, the kids were right, this is a different planet. That's funny. Knew it was too good to be true.
Okay, Mr. "Can't say I remember no At Attin." WHY ARE YOU LYING.
At Achran is giving me viking/medieval vibes.
Eopies :D With horns!
I love the Troik accent.
"Ah, but only this world, we treat our children as adults." Yeah, kinda figured that when there were two kids showing up in a warzone talking about enemy patrols.
Hayna's badass btw.
Not sure how I feel about Strix yet. He's…interesting.
It's hilarious how Silvo & SM-33 keep treating each other like children and the actual children like adults.
"Just shoot me." Lmfao, man's given up already.
Wait, is At Achrann really a clone of At Attin? Because Neel seems very confident with the layout of the city.
It's really interesting seeing Neel & Hayna's heart-to-heart about about their different cultures. I love how people from such different ways of life can get along.
Wim lifting a gun that weighs as much as he does lol
The way they didn't even give them armor smh
Okay, yeah, Strix is…not great. I petition for Hayna to replace him.
Hayna volunteering to go with them because she recognizes that this isn't something they know how to do like she does, that they don't have that same type of courage. She should totally be in charge one day, with empathy like that. She'd make a great leader.
…..How did Silvo and SM-33 manage that???????
Silvo requesting the kids back as his reward for returning the eopies is great. Except there's probably a catch.
HE ROBBED A KID. I mean……at least he used those credits for a good cause, but wtf, man. You're not helping them decide whether you're trustworthy or not lol.
Oh…….yeah, okay. They've known each other for like a day (not even), but sure. Good for you, Neel.
At Aytuu, At Achrann, At Arissia, At Aravin, At Acoda, At Attin…Why do they all start with double "A"s?
Rip coordinates.
??????????????????
HE'S BEEN THERE?
Holy shit, his memory is fucked. Or he's playing them hard.
He broke Fern.
Fern & Wim 😭
FERN, YOU GENIUS.
SM-33's old captain sucked…
FERN. CAN YOU UNDO THAT PLEASE.
THANK GOD FOR THAT. Legit never thought I'd be glad droids can be powered down.
Anyway, I think we're all thoroughly traumatized now. I knew something was off about SM-33, but wow. That was not what I expected from my silly pirate droid. Hopefully they can make him forget that bit of memory. I do like him.

Can we talk about the parallels between Skeleton Crew Ep4 ‘Can’t Say I Remember No At Attin’ with Obi-Wan ending up on Melida|Daan?
Like. I genuinely thought it was gonna be a future redo of that one til I realized the leader was an adult, thought that Hayna would be leader like Neild or Cerasi would have been to the Young.
Like. It’s just very. Similar. In a way, I mean. Like if showed similarities because of the world itself. Clearly it had infrastructure, but also they devolved into absolute war for so long that that civilization was all but gone.
It’s wild to think of.
It’s also wild to think that At Attin was like one of six (or was it five????) planets that got completely concealed????? That’s so wild. Like all traces wiped out. I kinda think maybe they were part of a 5-6 part prophecy somehow.

In Ep 4 when Hayna finds the kids and Wim asks her if she’s fighting a in a war that’s kids vs adults…was that a Melida/Daan reference??? Does Wim know about the Melida/Daan civil war (which would be insane for Disney to acknowledge but also I’m still confused if the Old Republic being referenced in show is Prequels Era or KOTOR Era) or was that just a toss away line from the writers for us Legends fans???
Either way, I couldn’t love this show more.

"Within every angel is a spirit of light that will fight as long as there is darkness…Am I saying it right, Lady Feyn?”
“Yes, that’s correct, Hayna! Now just channel your magic and…”
The angel and her human student reached out in unison and cast a spell on the fallen seraph lying on the altar before them. The body glowed with a glorious light before fading away, leaving in its place two identical winged spirits who quickly eyed each other with shock as they lifted into the air above the platform.
“…You’re me,” one of the angelic spirits stated in a surprised, ethereal voice.
“And you’re me,” parroted the other.
While the two spirits fell into an awkward silence, Hayna and Feyn retreated off to the side to convene privately. There they swapped back and forth between shooting the twin spirits confused looks, and quietly murmuring to each other.
“Lady Feyn, was our magic supposed to do that?”
“No. No it was not.”
“Did I mess something up? I’m very sorry if-”
“No, Hayna. You didn’t do anything wrong, not as far as I’m aware.”
“Was she possessed?”
“I don’t…think so.”
“Heh, and you’re supposed to be teaching me?”
“Wh- Huh- What happened to the manners you just had while apologizing-”
“Neat!”
Hayna and Feyn looked up to the spirits, who were now smiling warmly at each other. Confident now that the angelic geists were benevolent, the living duo sheepishly waved in greeting.
“Er, hello there.”
“Ah, Lady Feyn!” chimed one of the spirits. “I take it we have you to thank for the like-minded company!”
Hayna held up her hand like a student asking a question. “Wait. So, you don’t mind that we messed up your…ascension? Resurrection?”
“Not at all!”
“Neither of you mind?”
“Well if one of us doesn’t mind, I doubt the other would. We’re the same angel, after all!”
“Oh yeah.”
“Now, you might want to go comfort your friend over there. Looks like she’s despairing somewhat.”
Hayna looked behind her at Feyn, who was still staring distraughtly at the two spirits.

[Inside you there are two geists.
If you control both Bishop of Wings and Requiem Angel when another angel dies, you make two spirits!]

STAR WARS — SKELETON CREW
Ep4 — Can’t Say I Remember No At Attin
OVERALL THOUGHTS
1. Well, the kids are closer to home, but also no closer to home. Funny how that works.
2. The selfie-sequence for SM-33 is terrifying, but terrifyingly effective.
MY NOTES.
- Again with the mystical music.
- They return back to At Attin. Or at least they think so.
- The ship lands safety in a forest clearing, where there is, apparently, a playground - complete with a merry-go-round, slide, and climbing gym. So weird.
- SM-33 calling Jod a baby is hilarious.
- The kids are puzzled as to why their surroundings, especially a housing structure they’ve entered, “does look exactly like home”, as if thought time has passed them by unawares. What was going on?
- Jod rifles through a bag. The planet they’re on, is At Achrann.
- The kids are outside; there seems to be someone else around. A blaster shot sounds. Wim, Neel, Fern, and KB are rounded up by two similarly-aged kids with blasters who mean business.
- Apparently the kids are in a war of some kind?
- The two newcomers bring the 4 kids to a building.
- They are awkwardly welcomed by a group of people (Troik) who treat children as adults. The kids just want to go home.
- Neel goes off with Hayna, who is effectively a child soldier. She takes him to go look around. She speaks of war, and is - like the others - dressed in barely tattered and worn clothing of a grassroots world.
- Neel and Hayna talk about their respective worlds, and it’s a huge contrast. At Attin is peaceful while At Acchran is at war. They’re kids, but their lives are so, so different.
- The kids are rightly terrified, now having to help fight in a war not even their own.
- Jod comes by. They head to At Acchran’s version of the Tower. They call it the Fallen Sanctum.
- They go up a tower, where they find clues in the dust on the pillars of the ruin. Those clues are names of the other planets and their coordinates — At Aytuu, At Arissia, At Aravin, At Acoda. And their home planet At Attin… but with the coordinates clawed right through. Erased. SM-33 had erased the coordinates long before.
- Fern says, “You can’t just say, ‘You’re amazing, now figure something out.’ Like I’m supposed to solve everything. I’m not a droid. I don’t just do whatever I’m told.”
- There’s a creepy sequence where it’s focused on SM-33, and it looks like a selfie-sequence. It’s terrifying.
- Neel is terrified, and faints.
