6: Cisco and Kendra

What's worse than a newspaper from the future telling you that the woman you love is going to marry the guy she told you not to worry about? Try her reincarnated soulmate showing up and telling you that they're meant to be together in every lifetime, and they've already met and fallen in love in every one of them for the past few millennia.

If you know anything about Hawkgirl, you know this relationship is destined to go down in flames the moment you learn Kendra's identity. Nevertheless, Cisco and Kendra had very real feelings for each other that resulted in a very sweet, if short, relationship. Oddly enough, I thought it was at its best when it was already close to ending, which is probably because that's when it became clear how much they meant to each other. But they had some great moments before then, too, like her cooking dinner for him, and him introducing her to The Princess Bride. Cisco wasn't the guy Kendra ended up with, but he'll always be the guy who helped her unlock her powers and her buried memories of her first life, when even the guy she'd lived it with couldn't.

22. Popular character you hate?

Kylo Ren. His redemption was poorly done, and…yes, he should’ve lived, but not for some awful romance plotline. He should’ve lived so that he could do the hard work of atoning.

Or they should’ve gone full-fledged villain with him. Because…they were going for Vader parallels, but they did NOT stick the landing at all.

23. Unpopular character you love?

Nora West-Allen! I understand the criticisms about her, which is why I only write her around the age of 18 (since imo that’s what she should’ve been), and there are some inconsistencies in what she knows about Thawne, but aside from that…idk I found her compelling and I love the Westallen family 🥰

(I also think she’s great in s7, even if I hated the Godspeed arc and that season as a whole)

26. Most shippable character?

Probably Iris honestly, she’s shippable with a bunch of characters 😂 notably Barry, Eddie, Kendra, and Caitlin!

Cisco’s also pretty shippable: Barry, Cynthia, Kendra, Kamilla (even Lisa, if you’re so inclined)

27. Least shippable character?

There’s a few that could fall into this category (Azula, Ozai, etc), but definitely Thawne. The thing he had with Meena in s8 was sweet, but they had to turn him very OOC to make it work, and we only knew this version of Thawne for an episode or two, so it wasn’t even enough time to get attached to them.

Oh gosh these two were so cute.

He’s got the whole thing planned out. They’ll start with a dinner at his favourite restaurant this side of town. Kendra, unlike some people (*cough* Barry *cough*) can handle spice and Cisco’s delighted about this fact, can’t wait to show her this little gem of Central City’s.

Then they’re going to go to a late night movie, a rooftop showing, a little piece of Gem Cities culture because she’s still new in town. Then they’ll finish up with a nightcap back at his, if he can convince her, but of course he’ll be a gentleman even if she does come up for a drink, and he’s already got a monster movie planned as a back up if she doesn’t want to -

Kendra + coffee ("I was a barista")

It’s not about the coffee.

That’s just what she latches on to, her last tenuous hold on a “normal life.”

She didn’t even really like it. Being a barista.  She prefers tea, over coffee. Spicy chai, rich black, bitter green. So many varieties. Coffee all tastes the same to her, and she chokes it with milk and honey to get it down.

But once he came back--Carter, Prince Khufu, whatever--there was no more normalcy. She knows it’s not his fault, but he carries the scent of death on his wings, and she doesn’t want this. 

She doesn’t want it, she doesn’t, she really really doesn’t, she wants light and love and laughter and beauty. She wanted Cisco, she wanted Ray, she wanted kindness and softness and warmth.

Carter tastes like coffee in her mouth, and she tries to sweeten him up with milk and honey, and it works. Somewhat. If she can mask the taste, if she can dredge up the past enough, maybe she can be happy with him.

Maybe she can turn him into tea--varied and vibrant and, yes, still bitter, but only if you steep it too long.

The rumor Kendra is coming back to The Flash for an episode makes me wonder if she and Cisco will have a reunion fling. Carlos and Todd said Cisco is feeling broken hearted and lonely after things ended with Cynthia. Cisco was said to have been "clearly in love" with Kendra in 2x08. So, does HawkVibe still have a chance?
