My recent trip from Düsseldorf to Greven was a travel nightmare.

The journey began with a scheduled departure at 8:22pm from Düsseldorf, with an expected arrival in Greven at 11:25pm. The journy started off strong with the RE1 from Düsseldorf to Hamm experiencing a delay, due to it driving in walking speed, which set the stage for the chaos that followed.

Upon arriving in Hamm with a big delay, I managed to catch the RE7 to Münster, thanks to it being delayed as well. However, the relief was short-lived as the RE7 was completely overcrowded, turning the ride into an uncomfortable ordeal. The next shock came when I checked the DB app and saw, that there won´t be any trains driving to Greven due to constructions on the tracks. I had to take a SEV bus to Greven and I only had one possible bus left to catch when RE 7 would arrive in Münster on time... The delays compounded, and we didn’t reach Münster until 11:32pm, the exact time the SEV bus to Greven was scheduled to depart. This left me stranded in Münster in the middle of the night. With no other options available, I had to call my father to pick me up from the Havixbeck station, where I traveled next.

Exhausted and frustrated, I finally reached Havixbeck shortly after midnight. This journey was a perfect storm of delays, overcrowded trains, and missed connections, highlighting the unpredictability and challenges of traveling with Deutsche Bahn. -A

Maiidylle in den Baumbergen Maiidylle: Fachwerkhof bei Havixbeck am Fuße der Baumberge im Münsterland. Die Gerste ist binnen kurzem ziemlich hochgeschossen. Am Donnerstag war sie noch nicht so weit. Schnappschuss beim Mountainbiken am Sonntagvormittag.

Driving to my parents for the Christmas holidays

Today I wanted to take the train to Havixbeck to visit my parents over the Christmas holidays. Yesterday it was already announced in the DB app that a tree crashed on the train tracks from Münster (Westf) Hbf to Havixbeck because of the storm. This morning I checked and apparently the trains were driving again. When I arrived at the train station in Greven to no surprise the RB 63 from Münster (Westf) Hbf to Havixbeck was cancelled. My only option now was to wait half an hour in the cold and rainy weather for the bus. As I was planning to visit my parents for a couple of days I also had to carry around three large bags with clothes and Christmas presents (admittedly, the biggest bag was filled with my crochet utensils, so that's on me). Only benefit from this was that my parents didn't have to pick me up from the Havixbeck train station as the bus arrives close to their home.
