Elysia is a rather hopeless romantic, who's always fantasized about romance since the first time she witnessed a human romantic relationship. She's always longed for it, always wanted to love someone and have them love her back in such a way. She admittedly has a bit of an idealistic view of it due to how she is, but in the end, she still yearns for something like that.

However, she had never ended up allowing anyone to get that close to her due to how she always made herself out to be an infallible light in the dark. In her free time, she wrote romantic stories that would never see the light of day, derived from her own fantasies, but her fantasies would never become reality.

Her dream for a happy life with a beautiful wife / spouse and perhaps a few pets or even adopting a child depending on her partner's preferences (she doesn't mind either way) would never come to pass, and it was one of many things she sacrificed for humanity's sake. -Ashlyn calls Maddox Bub

-when everyone goes back to camp the next year, Ashlyn takes the bunk Maddox’s bed is on so that she can hold hands with her from the top bunk, and she starts writing her little notes and sending them down to her with a string. Maddox makes them a little mail box out of the wood she uses for sets so that she can send notes back. (They paint the mail box like Carl and Ellie in up)

-Ashlyn gets one of those shirts that says “I don’t need google, my girlfriend knows everything” and Maddox gets them both shirts that say “if lost return to Ashlyn” and “I’m Ashlyn” like that cute old couple with shirts that said “if lost, please return me to Dee” and “I’m Dee”

-Ashlyn says I love you first, and Maddox is so stunned she literally can’t get any words out and had a panic attack cause she wants to say it back but didn’t know what to do on the moment. She ends up asking for tips from Big Red, who is more than happy to help, and she ends up going backstage at the barn at camp and working the stage managers panel to drop a note on a string

(like they would do in the honey comb) where she tells her she loves in the note. (Including that Bug Red helped, cause who else could’ve inspired that -after all his little things like the light up sign, who else was gonna help her think of something that cute-. everyone is waiting outside and being nosey -in a sweet way- to their cute moment)

-Madlyn goes on double dates with Big Red and Andy, -I’m thinking Bandy or Brandy for their ship name, idk. Do we know if they have one and what it is?)

-Maddox becomes good friends with Big Red and bc they’re both neurodivergent they have a sort of symbiotic understanding in certain things. Big red knows all the best spots in school to go for quite. when Maddox gets overwhelmed for the first time around him he takes her to one of his spots, and some time afterwards he shows her where they all are in case she’s in a retain area of the school and needs one

-Maddox is ace and Ashlyn isn’t but she doesn’t necessarily need anything more than to have Maddox by her side and she doesn’t mind going her whole life without that side of a relationship as long as she has Maddox.

(Maddox eventually voices her worries about that when she tells Ash that she’s asexual and subsequently tries to avoid her -Ash is too good at knowing her girlfriend and finding her in a room full of people to not track her down to talk about why she’s avoiding her- it goes very well but Maddox can’t promise her reaction to stress won’t always be her running away and trying to avoid the person or thing causing it)

-For their one year anniversary, Ashlyn gets Dewey Wood to keep the camp running late (they keep it open for field trips and events during the year until camp over the summer) and she gets EJ as Val to drive them to Cali and sets up a movie night where they watch Maddox’s favorite Disney Channel original movie, Camp Rock 2 (the final Jam)

-after opening night Maddox’s mom asks why the hell she put a chunk of a tree in her room until she see’s what’s on it and they have a cute moment where Maddox gets to tell her mom Ash is her girlfriend offically. Her mom’s just happy Madison is out of the picture (she didn’t know what it was but she never liked Madison), but she’s so happy for her cause Maddox has been unknowingly gushing about Ash for weeks.

-When Maddox tells Ashlyn she’s autistic, Ashlyn does some research and gets her a little stuffed animal with the weighted beads inside it, (you can decide what animal cause I couldn’t pick between a d purple triceratops-which is what I have- and a raccoon -this one feels very Maddox I can’t explain why-) (Maddox likes the pressure of it on the side of her face for some reason)

-one of the first times she was there when Maddox was stressed and feeling overwhelmed and had darted to of the the nearest places big red had showed her, Ashlyn went after her and turned off the lights and sat with Maddox on the floor. (Eventually Maddox leaned against Ashlyn and fell asleep from being drained)

-The Balloons, sat in Ashlyn’s room until they deflated, and after that until Gina convince her that they needed to go because they were literally taking up space on her floor just sitting in their original spot. Ashlyn compromised and kept one folded in her drawer (including the note from Madison about how the way she talks about Ash is the way people talk about someone when their falling for them)

Are you still doing the character breakdowns? Part of me wants to ask you to do character breakdowns of Elli between 64 and Mineral Town, but I feel like there's more to be said about Harris, one of my faves in 64 who was then given pretty short shift in BTO/FOMT.

I am still doing character breakdowns! I’ve just slowed down a bit lately due to some projects I’ve been juggling, but I’m always happy to talk about the different characters from the games we love!

I haven’t done a breakdown of Elli or Harris yet, but I will happily do both! I will break it into two segments, and since you are eager to hear my thoughts on a less-featured character like Harris, I’d love to dive into a breakdown of him first!

I did write up some of my opinions in the past, on this post. My feelings for him have remained the same in some ways and changed in others. Let’s get down to it, shall we?

Character Breakdown Ask Game - Still Accepting! ;)

How I feel about this character:

I honestly didn’t have much of a strong opinion about Harris at first glance. But the more I’ve played the games, especially since I played FoMT before HM64, the more frustrated I feel that he was demoted from marriable status. He had such a warm and welcoming personality, but also a shy side that was really endearing. We never got a chance to woo him, and I feel like he would have made a great addition to the cast of marriage candidates.

As a mail carrier, I feel like a lot of potential for events was wasted, but I’ll get more into that later.

Overall, I agree with you, anon. Harris really did deserve better than the games gave him, and I feel like he’s a severely underrated character.

All the people I ship romantically with this character

Harris x Maria/Mary - Absolutely adorable! I love how both of them are sensitive and a little shy. Watching Harris gain courage to tell Maria how he feels was super satisfying in HM64, and their relationship is so wholesome and sweet.

Harris x Farmer - Secret marriage candidate, please? I blame @emeraldhaze15 for this one, haha. Seriously, read Wildflower for some great characterization of Harris! (Warning, there are some darker elements to this story, so be sure to check the tags.) It’s so rare to see writers include him, let alone do it so well. <3

Harris x Ann - Harris spends a lot of time at the inn, and I like to think that Ann serves him coffee regularly as a pick-me-up. I could see the two of them getting into talking about the goings on in town and developing feelings for one another (with an enthralled Doug watching in the background, of course).

Harris x Jennifer - I really thought the event between the two of these characters was really cute in the remake. Jennifer seems really concerned about Harris’s luck in love, and she even gives him a token to boost his luck. It would be cute if he ended up asking her more about the stone and got interested in her metaphysical practices, all the while helping her open up a little more to people.

Harris x Aja - I am such a sucker for pining, and the Harris x Aja events pull at my heartstrings a bit. Harris has harbored feelings for her after all of these years and has been too shy to act on it. I feel like Aja left a big impression on Harris and she’ll always be in his heart in a way. <3

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Harris/Thomas - I like to wonder what kind of father/son relationship they have with one another. They don’t seem to talk much about each other, and they both seem busy with their own duties.

Harris/Doug - I feel like these two would be great friends, as Harris stops by the inn quite a bit in the afternoons. I can see them becoming very close throughout the years, and Doug might even not-so-subtly mention how Ann’s doing.

Harris/Gotz - Their friendship feels so unlikely to me, but these opposites attract. It really speaks to the kindness Harris has in his heart that he takes time to check in on Gotz, who has lost his family. The two of them are good friends, and Gotz patrols the mountain for him. I could see the two of them going fishing on days off together, and maybe even Gotz telling him stories about Thomas that Harris never knew about.

My unpopular opinion about this character

I like Harris’s nose. It gives him character, but I wish they would’ve made his design a little more similar to the other characters in FoMT. I’m not wild about his redesign - especially as they made him look quite a bit older than I envision him. I do get that they probably wanted to make him look more like Thomas’s son, though.

I don’t like Harris’s change from postman to police officer. His personality is much better suited to the previous job, and I feel like his job change didn’t really affect any of his dialogue, or at least not much. He talks about how peaceful the town is and how it doesn’t even need an officer. It kinda makes me feel like he just meanders around town all day. I guess he’s making his rounds, but it doesn’t seem like anyone ever needs his services.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

Obviously, I wish that Harris had remained a marriage candidate. I like that Rick was made into one, but I want both. I like to think about what his heart events would be like. It would be super cute if he delivered a love letter to you. <3

I wish Harris had remained a mail carrier, and it would be really cool if he delivered letters from time to time in special events - A letter to Duke and Manna from Aja, A letter to Lillia from Rod. I know that Rod’s letter shows up, but it would be interesting to see him deliver it and see his reaction to Lillia receiving a letter from her husband. How does he feel about Rod leaving the family? There’s so much that could be explored!

Who confessed first: We both had been hanging out for a bit in Morioh, but it was after I saved Rohan with my stand that he finally felt ready to confess. I asked him what we were and he finally admitted his feelings ;w;

How long you have been together: Since September 2019!

(My selftober fics are set in the summer, but I finally watched Jojo in Aug-Sep 2019, read Rohan at the Louvre and the TSKR stuff, and finally admitted to myself I liked him on September 17, 2019)

Are you affectionate: less so in public because we're both private people, but at home he gets really soft. When he doesn't have to be the mangaka persona, he's a bit attention starved and loves cuddles. He's really sweet and gentle when it's us at home.

Living together/married: yeah! I started staying at his place mid-summer when we took the trip to Tokyo together (bc the Morioh Grand would have been expensive to waste a week).

I'm pretty good friends with Okuyasu because he works at the Morioh SPW Foundation restaurant/cafe, so when I'm there I always grab coffee from him and get updates on how his dad is doing.

Tomoko, Shinobu and I have a little knitting group at the local coffee shop, but we had to pause it when covid happened (and Ellie). We'll likely get back to it soon <3

Rohan's editor Izumi is also in our friend group! I got to meet her a few months ago and she's the sweetest!!

Rohan is friends with some of the other recent mangakas (like Fujimoto sensei and Akutami sensei), but we tend to only see them at Shueisha events.

There's also a lot of people who work at the Foundation, but things have been so busy that I haven't gotten to meet everyone yet.

Night in or night out: In the past it might have been night out (esp bc Rohan loves eating at Tonio's), but with bb Ellie here we love staying in. Reading books to Ellie and letting her play before bed is important, so we make sure she has a good schedule (plus once she's asleep Rohan and I can have fun too ;)

all of ravka just collectively loves her. like from the time she was born, everyone in ravka has loved her and wanted protect her. people would go to WAR if someone looked at her the wrong way

because of this, nessa has this sense that she will always be safe & sound, but also she feels that she’s constantly being watched and has little to no freedom

elle is also grisha, and she’s a durast!

she spends a lot of time with her auntie genya who tells her all about david, which she finds fascinating, bc not only does she value and cherish everything genya says, but she also loves learning about other durasts

elle has a love for gardening and has been helping her mom since before she can remember

as elle gets older, when she and zoya stand next to each other, people begin to have trouble telling them apart

aly is a grisha too! she takes after zoya and is a squaller

she and nessa def work together a lot, while elly sits to the side and works on little tinkerings

elle and nikolai do spend time together and when they do they’re always planning new inventions

she, when she gets older, kinda took a role similar to what david once had

the girls are all really close! they fought when they were young, as all siblings do, but they love each other and are all best friends

overall, they’re a really close family and just love each other dearly❤️

A’whora turned to her, stone-faced, glancing her up and down with the scrutiny she usually reserved for the very worst of Tia’s outfits. She took a deep breath, steeling herself before speaking.

“Eleanor. It’s almost 2 am. Go to sleep.” She huffed, eyes sharp as she turned her attention back to her notebook, eyebrows knitted in concentration as she worked further on her designs.

“You should take your own advice, you look like you haven’t slept in a week.”

“You’re so loving.” A’whora’s eyes fixed at her companion in a pointed glare, her point failing miserably as she stifled a yawn.

Ellie smiled, watching the smaller girl struggling to stay awake was amusing. Her stubbornness was only challenged by her own. It was a shock they didn’t clash, instead clicking in a way neither expected.

Lawrence had not stopped mocking her for falling for the first bimbo who entered her life, a bleach blonde who had no right to be as sweet as she was after the looks she threw at Ellie’s bubblegum aesthetic. She came around, admitting it suited her, the sheer amount of sugar she consumed being a help in the matter.

“If you didn’t drink a monster at midnight we wouldn’t be here.” She grumbled, letting Ellie envelop her in her arms. Her expression softened from a scowl to a slight pout.

“Nothing is stopping you from going to bed.” Ellie pointed out, laughing as the pout on her girlfriend's face worsened, paired with a huff.

“You are,” A’whora whined, her usual biting tone lost with her fatigue, leaving her a soft whiny mess just craving affection and her bed.

Ellie looked at her with an eyebrow raised, she wasn’t doing anything stopping her from going to sleep. Unless her existence was such a distraction it felt like an excuse to distract her from any real reason A’whora may have had.

“I don’t like sleeping alone…” She finished, glancing down to avoid a reaction to her vulnerability. Her body tensed as Ellie squeezed her, letting her relax into it and feeling something warm consume her body at the affection the taller girl started to shower her with, a small kiss on her forehead consuming any thoughts she’d had and leaving her a fuzzy mess just craving the warmth of her companion.

Ellie picked her up, A’whora letting out a squeak in shock as she was forcefully lifted to her bed, notebook put on the side and tucked in. Her brown eyes pleading for her to climb in and cuddle, a request Ellie accepted with enthusiasm. Having A’whora relax her guard and just enjoy the company of someone else and all the affection that came with it. This side of her was always a surprise when it came out, almost as if she melted in the presence of love, letting it consume her without a second thought.

“Lanky fuck” She murmured, eyes brightening as Ellie snorted at the sudden outburst.

Despite the way she shot muted jokes, they both understood the hidden meaning. She had an interesting way of showing affection but it was one Ellie could latch on to, knowing what she meant past the words she said. It was too easy to read her face in times like this, that ever-present goofy smile on her lips that made her heart melt just that bit more.

Remus decides to take care of plant james and sirius just like he does real james and sirius

So he puts them on his windowsill and waters them when they’re Firsty ™

And James and Sirius always peek at them like,,, where did you get those,,,

One day Remus is in the great hall and james and sirius are there too because when are they ever not with remus

And Remus sees you coming with your arms full of something

He’s like :o more plAnts??

But then you get there and you just kinda walk up to his side and hand him a tray of cookies

And they’re so cute omg they’re red and gold frosted and he’s like omg :’)

James and Sirius immediately are !!!

Half because visitor and half because sUgAr!!!

James peeks over Remus’ shoulder and looks at you like “who are you???”

Sirius gets up and reaches for one of the cookies and Remus slaps his hand away skjgnadnf Remus is like be p0lite and asK you heathen >:(

Remus is eating one of the cookies and is like lol probably y’all are wild

So for the next few weeks whenever they’re outside of the dorm they try to calm themselves as much as possible like James will get an aWeSoMe prank idea but then he’ll look over at you from across the classroom and be like no,,, must refrain,,, do not want to scare

And you notice that they’re not wreaking havoc over the entire school anymore and you see them sitting under a tree on the grounds one day

So you go up to them and you tug out a bag of brownies from your backpack and hold them in front of you like henlo frends hav sweet plz may i sit

James grins at you because he loves brownies more than anything how did you know and is like yEs plz do sit 

James starts up a conversation and Sirius prefers to sit back and observe but then you end up making a joke that Sirius did not expect and he was just :o

And James points at him like smh this fool and you kinda giggle and he’s like omg :’) frend :’)

Slowly you start integrating yourself into their circle more and more and then it’s less of you inviting yourself in and more of them being like yes!! There u are!! We were waiting for u!!

And you’re sitting there like :’) I did it

I friend

James is always looking out for you dude like that man has an arm around you 24/7 just in case something happens

Sirius is more subtle in the ways that he looks after you but he’s really talkative once he realizes that you don’t judge him for his family and he likes holding your hand :’)

One time a ravenclaw came up to you like haha loser puff and Sirius broke their jaw :))))

James saw you cry once and omg he still hasn’t recovered

Remus is kinda sad at first because hey!! My friend :(((\

But then when you start spending more and more time with them and he realizes that you didn’t just use him to get to James and Sirius then he’s super happy because omg there’s someone else on his side

James and Sirius go to pull some idiotic prank and you and Remus are like smh we’re not bailing you out again

Captain Alex Hawthorne (outer worlds OC)

1. List 3 things you like about your OC

-From an artist's POV, I like her outfit and how easy it is to draw lol.

- I like her courage! She never backs down from fight but isn't afraid to run away if it's pointless.

- Her intelligence and silliness combined. Even though Alex acts like an idiot most of the time, she is actually rather smart. She'd pull on a push door but can solve a complicated equation easily to put it bluntly.

2. List 3 things the other characters like about your OC

-Her individuality. Most people have never met someone like her. She dances around and makes obscure references which makes her stand out almost as much as her purple hair!

- Her ability to go from adorable to terrifying in 0.5 seconds. Don't call her cute guys, don't...

- Her selflessness. She would sacrifice everything she's worked for and herself without a second thought if it saved someone else.

3. List 3 things your OC carries all the time

- Her ace ring! Mine is important to me and it is to her! Ace rings serve as reminder that other people feel the same and ur not alone, so ofc Alex buys Parvarti one!

- Some sort of sweet snack! She's got a real sweet tooth and TTD uses a lot of energy!

- Do weapons count? Alex always carries her Dead Eye Assault Rifle and two plasma cutter that she uses like lightsabers.

4. List 3 things your OC does in their free time

-She's got her guitar so she like to sit on the Unreliable roof and chat with whoever whilst strumming along.

- Her playlist has soooo many songs on it so she dances around the ship and sings along sometimes!

- She used to draw cartoons when she was back on Earth, so when she finds some art supplies she gets back into drawings again.

5. List 3 strong points of you OC

- Alex can lighten the mood of any situation and seems to always cheer up her friends. It also helps in a fight that she puts people at ease and lowers their guard.

- She is an amazing shot and rarely misses. She usually uses a sniper rifle and shoots the enemies from really far away.

- She has a very high mental endurance. She can go for ages before breaking down but when she does usually it's a big breakdown:/

6. List 3 flaws of your OC

- She doesn't take care of herself as much as she should. She doesn't sleep a lot or talk to anyone about her problems. It's really not good for her but she cares too much about other people to "hurt them with her own hurt"

-Alex's attention span is *quite* short so she does little things like spin around on her chair, slide across floors, jumping up and down to keep her attention on things

-She is completely oblivious to any kind of flirting lol.

7. List 3 physical traits of your OC

- Purple hair!

- She's got a round face and big eyes that people seem to find adorable.

- Alex always wear something to cover up her arms, she's not very confident with people seeing them...

8. List 3 people your OC loves the most

- Wilson, (my other OC) who is her brother and only remaining relative

- Felix lol. It takes a while for her to notice his very obvious feelings but she gets there in the end and there's a whole drama about how she doesn't want him to suffer because of her etc

- Honestly I can't rank them but Parvarti, Ellie, Nyoka, Max, SAM and also ADA are her closest friends!

9. List 3 food/drink items your OC eats the most

- Purpleberry bunches! As I said, she's got a sweet tooth!

- Tripicale. She has no idea what it is and is determined to find out.

- Mock apple juice. It tastes like orange juice.
