Ooh ghost ship... horror but make it bittersweet. Imagine being a castaway. Delirious, struggling to survive on a barely functional escape boat, no food, soaked to the bone from the storm that constantly threatens to capsize you- and then through the fog comes a ship so huge it fills your whole field of vision. You drift to the side of it, the davit(I think that's what it's called? The crane they use to get little boats up and down) seeming to attach itself to your boat. You're welcomed aboard, something about all these larger than life figures feels surreal to you. It's like... you can't truly focus on their faces. But you're out of it, so you chalk it up to that, thanking them tearfully for the food the one in white serves you, the fresh set of clothes and warm blanket wrapped around your shoulders. One man, clearer than all the rest, gives you a checkup. Maybe even puts you on an IV after everything you've been through. You're there for a few nights, enough to recover, for your head to clear. And then you wake up, and... the ship is empty. The sky is clear. The quietest it's been in ages. You wander the deck, calling the names of the friends you've made, but you aren't close to death anymore. There's no response. But you find a proper dinghy, fully stocked. A map and log pose are laid out for you, and a letter wishing you well. And along with that- what appears to be a vintage photo of the crew.
THE EMOTIONS I WENT THROUGH READING THIS ANON

The next morning arrived all too soon. The soft light of dawn filtered through the curtains, casting a gentle glow over the room. You stirred first, your eyes fluttering open to find yourself still wrapped in Jensen’s protective embrace. His warmth, the steady rise and fall of his chest, and the soft brush of his breath against your hair provided a comforting start to the day.
Reluctantly, you shifted slightly, trying not to wake him. But Jensen was a light sleeper, especially when he had early flights to catch. His eyes opened slowly, revealing a sleepy but affectionate smile as he looked down at you.
“Morning”, he murmured, his voice thick with sleep.
“Good morning”, you replied softly, your fingers tracing the lines of his jaw. The reality of the day’s departure hung between you, but you pushed it aside for just a moment longer, savoring the warmth and closeness.
Jensen stretched slightly, his muscles rippling under your touch. “I wish we could stay like this”, he admitted, a hint of sadness in his voice.
“I know”, you whispered, pressing a gentle kiss to his chest. “But we’ll have more time soon, remember?”.
He nodded, his fingers brushing through your hair. “Yeah, I just hate leaving you”.
You stayed there for a few more precious minutes, holding each other close, memorizing the feeling of being together. But eventually, the clock’s relentless march forward demanded attention. Jensen sighed and gently disentangled himself from you, sitting up on the edge of the bed.
“I need to get ready”, he said, glancing back at you with a look that conveyed all the emotions he couldn’t quite put into words.
You nodded, watching as he moved to the bathroom. The sound of the shower starting up was a stark reminder that the moment of separation was approaching. You got up slowly, pulling on a robe and heading to the kitchen to make some coffee.
When Jensen emerged from the bathroom, freshly showered and dressed, you handed him a steaming cup of coffee. “Here you go”, you said with a small smile.
“Thanks”, he replied, taking a sip and savoring the warmth. He wrapped an arm around you, pulling you close for a moment. “I’m going to miss you”, he said softly.
“I’ll miss you too”, you replied, your voice equally soft.
You both finished your coffee in relative silence, the weight of the farewell hanging over you. When it was time to leave, Jensen picked up his bag and turned to you, his eyes filled with a mix of sadness and determination.
“I’ll call you as soon as I land”, he promised, leaning in to press a tender kiss to your lips. “And every chance I get”.
You nodded, your own eyes shining with unshed tears. “I’ll be waiting”.
With one last lingering kiss, Jensen reluctantly pulled away and headed for the door. You watched him go, your heart aching but filled with hope for the future. The door closed behind him, and you stood there for a moment, letting the silence settle around you.
The next two weeks went by relatively smoothly, even with Jensen being away on set. You managed to stay in touch through frequent calls and texts, the distance made bearable by the constant communication. Today, however, was a pivotal day—Jensen’s flight to Seattle was scheduled, and after just arriving home last night, he was preparing to leave again.
As he packed his stuff early in the morning, the house was quiet except for the occasional rustle of clothes and the soft footsteps on the floor. Despite the early hour, Danneel was already awake, her mood unmistakably sour. Jensen had texted her last night, before they even had a chance to see each other, that he wouldn’t be home until Christmas after today. The news had not been well-received.
Jensen walked down to the kitchen, his bag slung over his shoulder. Danneel stood by the counter, a cup of coffee in her hand, her expression a mix of frustration and disappointment.
“Morning”, he greeted cautiously, setting his bag down and moving to pour himself a cup of coffee.
Danneel looked up, her eyes narrowing slightly. “So, you’re leaving?”.
Jensen replied courteously, “Yeah”.
Danneel’s eyes narrowed further, a hint of suspicion creeping into her voice. “Usually, you come home between conventions, even if it’s just for a few days. But now you’re telling me you’ll be gone for nearly three months straight? What’s really going on?”.
Jensen sighed. “It’s just the way the schedule worked out this time”.
Danneel rolled her eyes, the frustration evident in her voice as she snapped at Jensen. “Do you think I’m fucking stupid, Jensen? I know all too well that the conventions are just on the weekends. What are you doing all the weeks in between?”.
Jensen took a deep breath, trying to remain calm in the face of her anger. “There’s a lot of promotional work, meetings, and other commitments that I have to attend to. It’s not just about the conventions”.
Danneel’s eyes flashed with anger. “And does this have anything to do with your new bitch?”, she asked, her voice laced with venom.
Jensen’s jaw tightened, feeling a mix of guilt and frustration. He hadn’t kept his new relationship a secret from Danneel, but he hadn’t revealed just how serious he was about you either.
Jensen rolled his eyes, the frustration evident in his posture. He took a deep breath, trying to keep his composure, but Danneel wasn’t about to back down. She stepped closer, her eyes blazing with anger.
“I fucking swear to you, Jensen, if anything about this reaches the media”, she hissed, her voice dripping with venom.
Jensen cut her off sharply. “Then what? Then fucking what, Danneel?”. His voice rose, the strain of the situation finally breaking through his calm facade. “Do you really think threatening me is going to help? I’m trying to be honest with you here, but you’re making it impossible”.
Danneel’s eyes widened in shock, then narrowed again in anger. “Impossible? You’re the one who’s been running off to who knows where with this new girl. How do you expect me to react?”.
Jensen sighed heavily, running a hand through his hair. “I didn’t intend for things to get this complicated. I’m doing my best to manage everything, but I can’t keep being the villain in this situation”.
Danneel’s rage boiled over, her voice rising to a scream. “You can’t just do whatever the fuck you want, Jensen! I won’t fucking tolerate you running off for three months just for some little cheap bitch!”.
Jensen’s frustration reached its breaking point. He grabbed her coffee mug from the counter and threw it into the sink with all his strength, making it shatter into pieces. The sound echoed through the kitchen, silencing Danneel for a moment. He stepped towards her, his eyes blazing with anger.
“You know what the fuck I can do? File for fucking divorce! I’m done with you!”, Jensen’s voice was like a roar, filled with a mix of pain, anger, and finality.
Danneel’s eyes filled with rage. She lunged at him, her fists flying as she started to punch and scratch his face. Jensen tried to back away, but her fury was relentless. He raised his arms to protect himself, feeling her nails rake across his skin.
“Get off me!”, he shouted, trying to push her away without hurting her. But Danneel’s anger made her strong, and she kept coming at him, her blows landing with a desperate fury.
Jensen finally managed to grab her wrists, holding them tightly to stop the assault. “Stop it, Danneel! Just stop!”, he yelled.
He pushed her away , shaking his head in disbelief as he wiped the blood from his face with the back of his hand. “You’re insane”, he hissed, his voice trembling with a mix of anger and pain. “Fucking crazy”.
He grabbed his bag, slinging it over his and turned towards the door, determined to leave the toxic atmosphere behind him.
As he walked away, Danneel’s voice rose again, filled with venom. “You think you can just walk out on me? I’m going to ruin you, Jensen! I’ll take everything away from you! You’ll never see the kids again, I swear!”.
Jensen paused for a moment at the door, his hand on the knob. He turned back to look at Danneel. “You’re not taking the kids from me”, he said quietly but firmly. “I won’t let you. This isn’t just about us anymore”.
Danneel’s face contorted with rage, but Jensen didn’t wait for her response. He opened the door and stepped out, closing it behind him with a sense of finality. The morning air hit him like a cold splash of water, waking him up to the reality of what had just happened.
Taking a deep breath, Jensen headed towards the taxi that was already waiting for him. The driver glanced at him through the rearview mirror, noticing the tension in his face and the fresh scratches. Jensen climbed into the back seat, setting his bag beside him, and closed the door with a sense of finality.
“Where to?”, the driver asked, starting the engine.
“JFK, please”, Jensen replied, his voice steady but weary. He leaned back in the seat, staring out the window as the taxi pulled away from the house.
The ride to the airport was mostly silent, the hum of the engine and the occasional sound of traffic the only noise. Jensen’s mind raced with thoughts of the confrontation with Danneel and the uncertain future that lay ahead. But amidst the turmoil, the thought of seeing you soon brought him a sense of calm and hope.
As the taxi approached the airport, Jensen’s phone buzzed with a message. He pulled it out, seeing your name on the screen. A small smile tugged at his lips despite everything.
You: Hey, I know you have a lot going on, but I just wanted to say I can’t wait to see you. Safe travels.
He quickly typed a response.
Jensen: Thanks, I needed that. Can’t wait to see you too.
The taxi pulled up to the curb, and Jensen handed the driver some cash. “Thanks”, he said, grabbing his bag and stepping out.
The anticipation had been building for days. You had packed your bags the night before, barely able to contain your excitement at the thought of finally spending more than just a couple of days with Jensen. You checked your reflection in the mirror one last time, making sure everything was in place before heading out to catch your flight.
Jensen had bought you a ticket from Austin to Seattle. The plan was simple: you’d arrive at the hotel separately to avoid raising any suspicions, and then you’d finally have some quality time together without the constraints of work and distance.
As you arrived at the airport, you couldn’t help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness. The thought of being careful to avoid any unwanted attention added a layer of tension, but the prospect of seeing Jensen again made it all worthwhile.
You checked in and went through security smoothly, finding a quiet spot near your gate to wait for boarding. Your phone buzzed with a message from Jensen, a simple “See you soon” that made your heart race with anticipation.
The flight was uneventful, giving you time to relax and mentally prepare for the days ahead. As the plane began its descent into Seattle, you felt a flutter of excitement in your stomach.
After landing and collecting your luggage, you made your way to the exit where a car was waiting to take you to the hotel. The drive felt longer than it actually was, the anticipation growing with each passing mile.
When you arrived at the hotel, you checked in under the name Jensen had told you. The receptionist handed you the key card with a polite smile, unaware of the significance of this moment for you.
You made your way to the elevator, your heart pounding with excitement. As the doors opened to your floor, you walked down the hallway to your room, your steps quickening as you got closer. You slid the key card into the door, pushing it open to reveal the cozy, elegantly furnished room that would be your sanctuary for the next few days.
Not wanting to waste any time, you quickly freshened up and checked your appearance one last time before sending a message to Jensen, letting him know you’d arrived.
You: I’m here. Can’t wait to see you.
It didn’t take long for Jensen to respond.
Jensen: On my way. Be there in a few minutes.
You paced the room, trying to contain your excitement. Every passing minute felt like an eternity, your anticipation growing with each second. The faint sound of footsteps in the hallway made your heart skip a beat. You moved towards the door, your breath catching in your throat as you waited.
When the knock finally came, you didn’t hesitate. You opened the door, and there he was—Jensen, looking tired yet determined, his eyes lighting up the moment they met yours. But before you could even utter a greeting, Jensen pushed the door closed with his foot, letting his bag drop to the floor. His movements were swift and urgent as he cupped your face, pulling you close.
“Hey”, you managed to whisper, but Jensen didn’t waste any time. His lips crashed into yours with a fervor that took your breath away. The kiss was intense, a mix of passion and desperation, as if he needed to reassure himself that you were really there. The fight with Danneel had only heightened his need to be close to you, to feel your warmth and comfort.
You responded eagerly, your hands moving to his shoulders, gripping tightly as if afraid he might disappear. Jensen’s hands slid from your face to your waist, pulling you even closer, his fingers digging into your skin as if he couldn’t get enough. The kiss deepened, his tongue brushing against yours, exploring with a hunger that left you dizzy.
Jensen broke the kiss just long enough to rest his forehead against yours, both of you breathing heavily. “Fuck, I missed you”, he whispered, his voice raw with emotion.
But again, before you could answer, he pressed his lips back on yours with an urgency that made your heart race. His hands moved with practiced ease, quickly finding the button of your jeans and the zipper, undoing them with a determined precision. His intentions were clear, the need to feel you, to be close to you, overwhelming him.
Your breath hitched, a mixture of anticipation and excitement flooding through you. You didn’t hesitate, your hands moving to push his jacket from his shoulders, letting it fall to the floor. It was clear he didn’t want to talk.
Jensen’s hands slid your jeans down your hips, his touch leaving a trail of fire in its wake. You kicked them off, your hands returning to him, pulling his shirt over his head with a sense of urgency that matched his own. His skin was warm under your fingers, his muscles tensing as you explored the familiar contours of his body.
He guided you backward toward the bed, his lips never leaving yours. The kiss deepened, filled with a hunger that spoke of all the time spent apart, the longing and the need that had built up over the weeks.
Jensen quickly pulled your shirt over your head, leaving you in nothing but your panties. Not wearing a bra made him growl deeply, the sound vibrating through his chest and into yours. Your fingers fumbled on his belt, eager to free him from the constraints of his clothing, but Jensen had other ideas. He pushed you back onto the bed, his movements rough but filled with a desperate need.
He undid his belt, the metal buckle clinking loudly in the quiet room, and quickly opened his jeans, pulling down the zipper with a swift motion. In one fluid movement, he stepped out of his jeans and boxers.
Jensen clambered above you, his weight pressing you flat against the soft, bouncy mattress. The intensity in his eyes spoke volumes, his need for you palpable in the air between you. He leaned down, capturing your lips in a searing kiss, his hands roaming over your body with a possessive urgency.
His hand moved down, hooking his fingers into the waistband of your panties and pulling them down your legs in one swift motion. The cool air hit your skin, contrasting with the heat of his touch as he pressed himself against you, his hard length brushing against your thigh.
“Fuck, I missed this”, he murmured against your lips and positioned himself at your entrance, his eyes locking onto yours with a fierce, almost desperate intensity. “I need you”.
Before you could respond, he pushed forward, entering you with a deep, powerful thrust. The suddenness of it, without any foreplay to prepare you, sent a jolt of slight pain through your body. You cried out, your nails digging into his shoulders as you tried to adjust to the intense sensation.
But Jensen was too lost in the moment to notice. The moment he bottomed out in your tightness, a deep groan escaped his lips, his head falling against your shoulder. His body shook slightly as he took in the overwhelming feeling of being inside you again. You were his sanctuary, the place where he could lose himself and find solace.
In the rush of his need, Jensen didn’t give you time to adjust before he started to move, instantly setting a deep, relentless pace. Each thrust was powerful, sending shockwaves of sensation through your body and leaving your breath hitching over and over again. The intensity of his movements was overwhelming, the depth of his thrusts causing your moans to turn into desperate sobs as you struggled to catch your breath.
Jensen’s lips found yours, capturing them in a fervent kiss that made you feel even more breathless. The lack of air combined with the force of his thrusts quickly made you dizzy, your head spinning as you tried to keep up with the intensity of the moment. Every inch of your body was alight with sensation, the pleasure bordering on pain as Jensen pushed you to your limits.
Your hands clutched at his shoulders, your nails digging into his skin as you tried to anchor yourself. Jensen’s groans and murmurs of pleasure filled your ears, a constant reminder of how deeply he was lost in the moment. His fingers gripped your hips tightly, guiding your movements and ensuring that every thrust hit just the right spot.
And he did. The tip of his dick brushed against your most sensitive spot over and over again, sending shockwaves of pleasure through your body with each thrust. The intensity overwhelmed you, causing your nails to dig deeper into his shoulders and back, leaving trails of red in their wake. The relentless pace, combined with the deep connection between you, had you shaking underneath him within minutes.
Jensen groaned deeply, his voice rough with desire. “You feel so fucking good”, he murmured against your neck, his breath hot on your skin. His teeth grazed the soft flesh of your neck before he bit down gently, the sensation sending another wave of pleasure through you.
Your back arched, your body responding to the mix of pleasure and pain, pushing you closer to the edge. The sound of his groans and the feel of his body moving against yours heightened every sensation, making it almost impossible to hold on.
But just as you were about to reach your peak, Jensen abruptly pulled out, leaving you gasping in surprise and frustration. Before you could process what was happening, he turned you roughly onto your stomach, pulling your hips up so you were on your knees.
Without wasting a moment, Jensen positioned himself behind you and thrust into you with such force that when you tried to brace yourself on all fours, his powerful thrusts sent you sprawling flat onto the mattress. Your face pressed into the pillows, muffling your cries of pleasure as he took you from behind with an intensity that left you breathless.
The new angle allowed him to hit deeper. The force of his movements pinned you to the bed, your hands gripping the sheets tightly as you surrendered to the overwhelming sensation.
“Jensen”, you moaned, your voice muffled by the pillows but filled with a desperate need. The relentless rhythm of his thrusts pushed you closer and closer to the edge once more, your body trembling with anticipation.
Jensen’s hands gripped your hips tightly, his fingers digging into your skin as he pounded into you.
“Such a tight little… fuck”, Jensen groaned deeply, his voice thick with desire. The words sent a shiver down your spine, the rawness of his need making you even more aroused. As he continued to thrust into you, his pace never faltering, he reached up and grabbed a handful of your hair, pulling you up so that your back hit his chest.
The new position made you gasp. The intensity of the sensation was almost too much to bear, your body trembling with the overwhelming pleasure. Jensen’s teeth grazed your neck before he bit down gently, the mix of pain and pleasure sending another jolt of arousal through you.
His free hand found its way between your legs, his fingers expertly rubbing your clit with fast, hard strokes. The combination of his thrusts and the stimulation on your clit was too much, and you felt yourself hurtling towards the edge once again.
“Jensen”, you cried out, your voice a desperate plea. The intensity of the pleasure was building to a fever pitch, every nerve ending in your body on fire.
“That’s it”, he murmured against your skin, his breath hot and ragged. “Come for me, baby. I want to feel you”.
His fingers moved even faster, his touch perfectly synchronized with the rhythm of his thrusts. The pleasure built to an almost unbearable level, the tension coiling tighter and tighter until it finally snapped. Your orgasm crashed over you with the force of a tidal wave, your body convulsing around him as you cried out his name.
The sensation of you coming around him was too much for Jensen to handle. With a raw, guttural groan, he pushed you back down onto the mattress roughly, your body sinking into the soft surface. His grip on your hips tightened again, his fingers digging into your skin with an almost bruising intensity as he pounded into you a few more times, chasing his own release.
You could feel Jensen’s muscles tensing, his body shaking with the effort as he neared the edge.
With one final, deep thrust, Jensen climaxed, his body shuddering as he spilled deep inside you. The sensation was electric, sending a shiver down your spine as you felt the warmth of his release. He held you tightly, his breath hot and ragged against your neck as he rode out the waves of his orgasm.
For a moment, the room was filled with nothing but the sound of your heavy breathing. You lay beneath him, still taken aback by the raw intensity of what had just happened. The few times you had slept with each other before, Jensen had always been so loving and gentle. This new side of him—this overwhelming, almost desperate intensity—had left you shaking and dizzy beneath his weight.
Jensen’s body gradually relaxed, his breath slowing as he came down from the heights of his release. He remained inside you, his forehead resting against your shoulder, his breath warm and steady against your skin. The weight of his body pressed down on you, a grounding force in the aftermath of the storm you had both just weathered.
As he lay there, Jensen slowly began to emerge from the intense bubble he had been in. The raw emotions from his fight with Danneel, the anger, frustration, and desperation, all started to dissipate. He had left it all out on you, and now, in the quiet aftermath, a sense of calm began to settle over him.
Jensen gently pulled out of you, careful not to cause any discomfort. He rolled to the side, bringing you with him so that you were both lying on your sides, facing each other. His eyes searched yours, looking for any sign of discomfort or distress.
“You okay?”, he asked softly, his voice filled with genuine concern.
You were still shaking, your breath slowly coming back to a steady rhythm. You nodded, giving him a small, reassuring smile. “Yeah”, you mumbled, your voice soft and a bit shaky. “Heads up next time would be nice, though”. You chuckled breathlessly, trying to lighten the mood as you slowly sat up, still feeling the aftershocks of the intense experience. You pulled the blanket up around you, seeking comfort in its warmth.
Jensen’s eyes softened as he watched you, a mix of guilt and concern in his expression. He opened his mouth to explain, but hesitated, struggling to find the right words. “Sorry”, he said quietly. “I… I didn’t mean to be so intense. I just—”. He cut himself off, not wanting to delve into the details of his fight with Danneel.
You looked at him, seeing the turmoil in his eyes. Just then, your gaze shifted to his face, noticing the slightly bruised skin and the scratch marks over his nose and eye. Your breath hitched, a wave of concern washing over you. “Jensen, what happened?”, you asked softly, your hand gently brushing against his bruised cheek.
Jensen tried to dismiss your concern, his expression tightening with discomfort. “It’s nothing”, he said gruffly, looking away from your probing eyes. He was clearly ashamed, the vulnerability of being attacked by Danneel weighing heavily on him. As a man, he felt it made him appear weak, and that was something he struggled to accept.
“Jensen”, you pressed gently, not wanting to let it go. “This isn’t nothing. Please, talk to me”.
His jaw clenched, and he pulled away slightly, his demeanor shifting to one of irritation. “I said it’s nothing”, he snapped, his voice harsher than he intended. The first time he had ever spoken to you like this, it stung.
You recoiled slightly, hurt by his tone. “I just want to help”, you said softly, trying to hide the pain in your voice.
Jensen took a deep breath, trying to rein in his emotions. He knew snapping at you was unfair, but the weight of everything that had happened was pressing down on him. He clenched his fists, his frustration palpable. He wanted to explain, to make you understand, but the words were stuck in his throat, choked by pride and anger.
Seeing the hurt in your eyes was like a knife to his heart, but he couldn’t find a way to soften his tone or explain himself without feeling exposed and vulnerable. So, he opted for silence, hoping it would prevent him from saying something he’d regret.
“Alright, suit yourself”, you mumbled quietly, clearly hurt. You got up from the bed, wrapping the blanket tighter around you as you made your way to the bathroom.
As you turned on the shower, the sound of the water filled the room, creating a barrier between you and the tense atmosphere in the bedroom. You stepped under the warm spray, letting it wash over you, trying to cleanse not just your body but your mind as well.
The water cascaded down, and you closed your eyes, feeling the tension slowly leave your muscles. But your mind was still a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions.
In the bedroom, Jensen sat on the edge of the bed, running a hand through his hair in frustration. He hated himself for the way he had spoken to you. He knew you only wanted to help, but he felt trapped by his own pride and the fear of appearing weak. The scratches on his face were a physical reminder of the chaos in his life, and he didn’t know how to reconcile that with the love he felt for you.
He heard the shower running and felt a pang of regret.
Jensen sighed deeply, his heart heavy with regret and uncertainty. He stood up slowly, his movements quiet and deliberate as he walked towards the bathroom. The sound of the running water grew louder as he approached.
Without making a sound, he slipped into the bathroom and then into the shower behind you. The steam enveloped him, and the warm water hit his skin, but his focus was solely on you. He moved with careful intent, his arms wrapping tightly around your waist, pulling you flush against his chest.
You gasped softly, the unexpected embrace startling you for a moment. But the warmth of his body and the familiarity of his touch quickly calmed you. His lips found your shoulder, pressing soft, apologetic kisses against your skin. He held you close, the steady beat of his heart against your back a silent testament to his remorse.
Jensen couldn’t find the words to express his apology, but he hoped you would understand through the gentleness of his touch. His lips moved slowly, trailing a line of tender kisses from your shoulder up to the curve of your neck.
You closed your eyes, leaning back into his embrace, letting the warmth of the water and the comfort of his presence wash over you. The tension in your body began to melt away, replaced by a sense of calm and acceptance. You placed your hands over his, squeezing them gently, letting him know that you understood.
Jensen’s hands moved slightly, one resting on your stomach while the other traced light patterns across your skin. The touch was intimate, filled with a tenderness that spoke volumes. He held you close, his breath warm against your neck as he continued to press gentle kisses to your skin.
“I really missed you”, he murmured quietly, his voice filled with a mix of longing and regret. His head spun with the fear that his earlier temper might have caused irreparable damage to your relationship. He couldn’t bear the thought of losing you because of his inability to control his emotions.
You turned in his arms, facing him as the water cascaded down around you both. Your eyes met his, and you could see the genuine concern and vulnerability there. “I missed you too”, you replied softly, reaching up to cup his cheek. “But you need to talk to me, Jensen. You can’t shut me out like that”.
You always had been a strong person, someone who stood their ground. So, even though Jensen’s little outburst wasn’t quite what you liked, you weren’t mad at him, but being disrespected like this wasn’t something you would tolerate. You looked into his eyes, your gaze firm but filled with love.
“Jensen”, you said softly but firmly, “I understand that you’re going through a lot, but you need to know that talking to me like that is not okay. I love you, but I need respect and honesty from you”.
Jensen clenched his jaw, his mind racing as he tried to find the right words. The look in your eyes told him how serious you were, and he felt a pang of guilt. He took a deep breath, his fingers tightening slightly on your waist as he searched for the right way to express his feelings.
Jensen had never encountered a woman who spoke to him like you did right now. His previous relationships had often been characterized by either extreme submissiveness or volatile outbursts when angered, sometimes even resulting in physical slaps. But you were different. Hearing you speak so firmly, yet still filled with love, took him by surprise. It left him grasping for words and grappling with a whirlwind of emotions. He wasn’t sure how to react or what to say, and he didn’t even know if he liked it or not.
The water continued to cascade around you, creating a soothing backdrop to the tension in the air. Jensen’s grip on your waist tightened slightly, his mind racing as he tried to process everything. He looked into your eyes, seeing the unwavering strength and love reflected there, and it both intimidated and drew him in.
“I… I’m sorry”, he finally managed to say, his voice strained with emotion.
You could see in his gaze that he clearly didn’t know how to handle this situation right now. You were smarter, more mature, and more grounded than any women he had ever been with before. Your firm but loving words had struck a chord deep within him, challenging his preconceived notions of what a relationship should be.
“Jay”, you began softly, placing a gentle hand on his chest, feeling the rapid beat of his heart beneath your palm. “I don’t want you to apologize just to appease me. I need you to understand why I feel the way I do. Mutual respect is key in any relationship”.
He looked at you, his expression a mixture of confusion, admiration, and a touch of fear. His eyes searched yours, as if seeking reassurance and guidance in this unfamiliar territory.
“You see”, you continued, keeping your voice calm and steady, “in the past, I’ve learned that genuine connection is built on understanding and trust. I want us to be able to talk openly about our feelings, our thoughts, and our needs. It’s not about who’s right or wrong, but about finding a way to move forward together”.
Jensen swallowed hard, his Adam’s apple bobbing. “I’ve never… I mean, I’ve never had to…”, he stammered, his voice trailing off as he struggled to find the right words.
You waited for him, your patience unwavering, but Jensen’s frustration grew palpable. He groaned softly, his face contorting in a mixture of irritation and helplessness. “I don’t know what to fucking say”, he finally admitted, his voice edged with frustration. “I’ve never had to deal with this kind of conversation before”.
His hand slipped down your sides, a gesture that felt more like an attempt to distance himself from the emotional intensity than a loving touch. You could sense his desire to escape the situation, to find some reprieve from the vulnerability he wasn’t used to.
“I’m not going to force you to tell me what happened to your face”, you mumbled softly, your voice barely above a whisper. “But I would appreciate it if you could share it with me”.
His eyes met yours, a flicker of something unreadable passing through them. Before he could respond, you pressed a soft, lingering kiss to his lips, hoping to convey your understanding and patience through that simple act.
Then, without another word, you stepped out of the shower, leaving him standing there alone. The cool air hit your skin as you reached for a towel, wrapping it around yourself. You glanced back at Jensen, who remained motionless under the cascading water, his expression a mixture of confusion and contemplation.
You walked out of the bathroom and into the hotel room, the cool air conditioning contrasting sharply with the warmth of the shower. You moved to your bag, searching for clothes to put on. As you rummaged through your things, you recalled Jensen’s earlier text about Jared wanting to grab something to eat. He had suggested that if anyone spotted the three of you together, you could simply say you were a friend of Jared’s to avoid raising any suspicions.
A few minutes later, you heard the water stop running in the bathroom. Jensen stepped out, a towel wrapped around his waist, his hair still damp. He hesitated in the doorway, looking uncertain and a bit lost.
“Are you mad at me now?”, he asked, his voice tentative and filled with worry.
You turned to him, softening your expression as you shook your head. “No, Jensen, I’m not mad at you. I just want us to be able to talk about these things".
He looked relieved but still a bit unsure. “Look I… I don’t want to mess this up”, he admitted.
“You won’t”, you reassured him, walking over.
You stood on your tiptoes, still needing to pull him down slightly to reach his lips, and kissed him softly. His body seemed to relax slightly under your touch, and you could feel his tension start to melt away.
“I’m not throwing the ‘I love you’ around easily either”, you mumbled into the kiss, smiling softly against his lips. “So when I told you I love you, I meant that. Messing it up will take more than that”.

Charred Legacy: Chapter Twenty-Three
(AO3 counterpart here.)
The night moved on, and the Clan had to as well. Goldenflower and the others, their coats full of dirt that clung to uncleaned blood, returned and announced the burial as complete. ThunderClan went together to the spot: a mound tucked into the exposed roots of a tree just outside the fenceline. From here, free of buildings, the Mother was visible, lying silent and still.
“The stars have found her,” Yellowfang said, flat face turned skyward. “We need not fear for her soul.”
Even with this reassurance, the Clan hung their heads and sadly offered soft farewells and prayers as they stepped up, one at a time, to speak to their Clanmate. Goldenflower went with the kits, both hers and Brindleface’s, and whispered to them encouragement and reminders to whisper too. Aspenkit was able to speak whatever she said evenly and calmly, but the misery on her face when she turned around said much more. Ashkit, unsteadily balanced with his anger, could barely get his words out before whipping around and stalking after his sister.
Fireheart heard Cloudkit just fine, his sad little voice managing, “Bye, mi. I love you.” He turned away slowly and went to sit with his uncle, silent again. Fireheart groomed his head with a soothing purr.
He was the last one to approach the grave, and he stood for a long moment, unsure of what to say. If Yellowfang was being truthful, she wasn’t here to hear him, but… maybe she was listening in StarClan.
“We’ll take care of your babies,” he murmured. “Thank you for raising Cloudkit.”
That was all he could say before a lump formed and clotted his throat. He bowed his head and returned to Cloudkit’s side.
Speckletail nudged Bluestar, who slowly walked up to the grave, turned to her Clanmates and stood silent for a moment.
“We’ll miss you, Brindleface,” she said at last. “May… may your path to StarClan be clear and easy.”
She said nothing else, just stood there, eyes on the mound at her feet. Whitecloud went up to her and guided her back to Speckletail. No one said anything, but their troubled faces tattled their thoughts.
Barley respectfully kept his distance until they all returned past the fence and were on their way to the hedge. When he approached, his face was sad, but a bit distant, the sort of grief one felt for a neighbor they didn’t know well.
“I’m sorry you had to leave like this,” he said to Speckletail. “It was a real treat having you all here. I thought you’d be safe and sound on my property, but…”
Speckletail sighed. “We can’t help it. Thank you for giving us a home for so long. ThunderClan will remember your kindness.”
Barley rolled a shoulder. “Just doing my part. Couldn’t leave you and your little ones out in the cold.”
Cats said their scattered goodbyes and thank-you’s as they passed him, and he nodded to every single one. Fireheart offered a grateful blink, and Barley blinked back before nodding to the next cat.
Through the hedge and down the moor they went, all silent and thinking. No one noticed the smell in the air before a voice called to them and brought them to a stop. A WindClan patrol approached, in their loping canter that was still faster than Fireheart could run, slowing down only when they could be heard.
“You left earlier than we thought,” the head of the patrol said, a grey-brown tom with an ear split cleanly in half. “Meant to give a final checkup and our well-wishes.”
“Well-wishes from WindClan,” Darkstripe muttered. “Really.”
Speckletail ignored him and dipped her head respectfully. “We appreciate what you’ve done for us. Please tell Rookstar and the rest of your Clan that we’re thankful, and we won’t be bothering you for more favors. What you did has been more than enough.”
“Ought to thank Barley, really,” a brown tabby tom said. “I assume you did already.”
“We did.”
“Good.” The tabby looked to the grey-brown tom and cocked his head.
The grey-brown tom flatly said, “Welcome home,” and turned away, leading his patrol back up the hill.
ThunderClan continued their descent mostly in silence. Oddly, the further they walked and the longer the night went on, the less snow they had to deal with. The kits were able to walk through the stuff in the neutral grounds easier than on the moor or farm, and even the burnt trees had caught most of the snow and kept it off the ground.
They all slowed as they entered ThunderClan’s forest to look around as they walked. Many disturbed murmurs observed the pitch-black trees and the bone-white snow atop them and around them, like the snow was trying to cover up the sight to preserve their peace of mind. It didn’t matter much; the forest still faintly smelled burnt. At the very least, the snow had muffled the stink.
Once they stepped into the untouched part of the forest, paces quickened and spirits lifted. Murmurs became happier and often came out as thanks to the Three for saving their forest.
Technically, it was the humans, Fireheart thought, but they’ll never show gratitude for that.
Snow rested on the camp’s sandy flooring when they entered, but it might as well have been the middle of summer—voices raised in jubilation and awe, cats looked over every single den in amazement, deep sniffs were taken to ensure everything was really still here.
“It really is a miracle,” Frostfur breathed, her pretty green eyes sparkling.
Goldenflower practically ran to the nursery, sticking her head into the entrance and looking around. “It’s perfect in here! Kits, come look.”
The kits obeyed, all crawling back into the nursery to check it out. Their high voices echoed to the outside in surprise and happiness.
“Remember, I get Swifttail’s nest,” Brightpaw told her brothers as she dipped into the apprentice’s den.
Brackenpaw stuck his tongue out at her and Thornpaw frowned, but neither of them voiced any complaints. Snowpaw, meanwhile, got busy sweeping what little snow had made it into the den back out into the clearing.
“I don’t smell Patchpelt here,” Willowpelt remarked, approaching Speckletail. “Or any burned bodies. Do you think…?”
Ravenwing looked up from the elder’s den, hopeful.
“We need to look for him,” Speckletail said, brisk despite the lack of enthusiasm on her face. “He can’t be far away, whatever state he’s in.”
Dustpelt turned to face her from the warrior’s den. “I can go.”
“It could take a while,” Speckletail answered. “Are you sure?”
Dustpelt nodded.
“I’ll search with him,” Sandstorm said, and Mousefur next to her added, “Me, too.”
Speckletail flicked her tail. “Then you’d better go now, while there’s still a little night left. Return as soon as you find anything.”
The cats wasted no time, trotting out of camp without a word to anyone. Fireheart prayed under his breath that Patchpelt was just hiding in the Houses, or had found a bush to sleep under.
It didn’t take very long at all for them to come home, their heads low and tails dragging along behind them. The Clan turned to greet them, but at the sight of their postures, no one ran forward or spoke. Ravenwing stood beside Greystripe, fighting valiantly not to shake and losing.
Speckletail’s voice, soft as it was, seemed to echo in the silent clearing. “Well?”
Dustpelt lifted his head, ears low, and reported unhappily. “We found burned bones and ash, not too far from the trail we took to escape. They’re his size.”
Ravenwing whimpered and pressed his face against Greystripe’s shoulder, who rested his broad head atop his friend’s. Fireheart’s stomach rolled.
Several cats went to Ravenwing and offered condolences, which he didn’t seem to register, still hiding his face in Greystripe’s fur. Halftail and One-eye were spoken to as well, as they sat together with their heads down. No one, Fireheart realized, was even looking at Darkstripe, sitting near the corner of the elder’s den and glaring at the ground, his tail lashing.
Compassion moved Fireheart before logic could get to him; he approached the grey tabby, standing at a respectful distance and clearing his throat. Darkstripe looked up and his face darkened even further.
“I’m sorry about your father,” Fireheart said, gentle. “That loss is unbearable, I—”
Darkstripe bared his teeth, hissing, “You have no idea what loss is.”
Fireheart didn’t flinch, but he did lean back a tiny bit, anger burning some of his compassion. He got control of his mouth before he could retort cruelly. Simply, softly, he replied, “Believe me, I do. I know this exact type of loss, actually.”
For an instant, Darkstripe had a look like he was about to strike Fireheart across the face. He, too, withdrew that particular shade of rage and simply glared at the ground again, growling, “Beat it.”
Fireheart didn’t add anything else. He knew better. He just turned around and walked off for Ravenwing, tail deliberately leveled out.
---
Dawn stretched over the eastern sky, and the night of traveling and mourning finally wore the Clan down. Fireheart couldn’t help a tug of remorse that the ranks once again separated themselves and retreated to their respective dens. He didn’t have much time to reflect on this before he fell deeply asleep. His Clanmates followed him in moments.
The next evening came with a sense of disjointedness—several times, a warrior would stop what they were doing and look around in mild confusion, or seem to remember that they would have to hunt for their prey in the woods, not just stroll to a pile of hay and slam their paws down on a lump. The prey they had left behind (thankfully just a couple things) had rotted and had to be cleared out. It amazed everyone that they hadn’t even noticed the rotten prey-pile in their rush and relief at being home at last. Many remarks were made upon it.
Speckletail assigned more patrols to hunt and check for dog-scent. Again, she selected Fireheart and Dustpelt to lead them, again to Fireheart’s surprise and mild confusion. He decided it wasn’t something to question at the moment—the Clan needed him to help them wherever he could, and that was what he was going to do.
What also surprised him was that he sort of enjoyed it. He enjoyed helping, of course, as always, but being at the head of a patrol, suggesting where everyone could go to hunt and tracking odd scents to ensure the dogs were gone, that wasn’t too bad. It was nice, actually. His Clanmates accepted whatever he told them to do in a way that made him wonder if they also didn’t mind it.
His patrol returned with only good news and prey; not quite the fat mice they’d been feeding on at the Barn, but enough to get the Clan started. Teaselfoot had been right—the prey had gotten bolder with no one hunting them, and they had been easier to catch than usual.
“And if the dogs have been here, it’s been a long time,” Fireheart reported to Speckletail. “The slightest scent at Sunningrocks and no more than that.”
The deputy poorly hid a sigh of relief and lowered her chin gratefully to Fireheart. “Well done. Go ahead and rest. Dustpelt should be back soon with more prey.” She glanced over at Brindleface’s kits, all sitting together close by. “Stars know we’ll need it.”
Fireheart bowed his head to her, but didn’t go to relax. Rather, he took his caught bird and returned to the outside of camp to bring a meal to Bluestar.
He turned the corner just as Whitecloud came out of her den, ears and tail low. Fireheart stopped and waited for the white tom to notice him, which he did quickly, and then approached, meeting him halfway. Fireheart set down the bird.
“How is she?” he asked quietly.
Whitecloud sighed through his nose. “She’s… confused. She didn’t realize the burned body was Patchpelt.” He looked off into the woods, like there was a solution out there. “…I don’t think she’s going to get better.”
Fireheart inclined his head a little with a sad nod. He had a brief urge to sit down and sag with sorrow.
“Strange to be grieving her when she’s still alive,” Whitecloud continued, almost under his breath. He looked at Fireheart now, speaking louder again. “I’m glad you’ve been helping as much as you have. Taking care of my aunt has been a lot. I haven’t been able to help Speckletail in her duties.” His yellow eyes warmed. “It’s nice that she can count on you and her son.”
Fireheart did purr a little at that. “I’m happy to. It’s kinda sudden, but I don’t mind that. It feels like…” He paused, searching for the right words. “It feels like I’m an apprentice again, cleaning out nests, taking care of the elders and Yellowfang. You know that feeling? Where you have some satisfaction, and maybe a little pride, because you’re caring for someone who needs help?”
Whitecloud’s eyes creased. “I didn’t enjoy feeding and grooming the elders like you did.”
“Seems like nobody does.” Fireheart breathed out a short chuff. “But I did. And it feels like that now. It’s nice. It’s just the whole Clan this time.”
Something shifted in Whitecloud’s expression. Fireheart couldn’t define exactly what it was, not on his face or how it leaked into his tone when he asked, “Then you don’t mind being in charge sometimes?”
“I mean, it’s a little weird to be giving orders,” Fireheart admitted. “Just a bit. I’m one of the youngest warriors, you know? I didn’t think anyone would be willing to listen to me just based on that.” He paused again to think. “It’s not, like, inherently awful or anything. It’s… it surprises me when cats listen to some dinky little kittypet who, well…” A real chuff this time. “Who has a habit of not obeying the Clan’s superiors himself.”
Whitecloud gave him an oddly stern look. “You’re not a ‘dinky little kittypet’ to ThunderClan. You have something I haven’t seen the rest of the Clan be able to provide to everyone.” His face softened. “You’re valuable for your kindness alone, nevermind you being happy to care for your Clanmates, whether or not they appreciate it.”
That sounds familiar. Fireheart’s ears went warm at the tips. Bashfully, he said, “Thank you.”
“Of course.” Whitecloud glanced back in the direction of Bluestar’s den. “I can take that prey to her. You’re free to go inside, if you like.”
“Are you sure?” Fireheart tilted his head again. “It’s not a problem…”
Whitecloud looked back and leaned in, almost whispering. “She’s not in a good place to receive visitors. I can bring you with me next time.”
Fireheart almost wanted to protest, but the flight of worry in Whitecloud’s eyes made him simply close his mouth and nod. Whatever she’s like right now, she’s going to give a really bad impression that Whitecloud doesn’t want anyone to see. Even me.
“I’ll go inside, then,” he said. “Good luck with her.”
Whitecloud nodded and picked up the bird, turning away again and starting for Bluestar’s den. Fireheart split off, returning to camp’s entrance. His thoughts circled around the conversation, but one sentence played, over and over.
“Weird to be grieving her when she’s still alive.”
Fireheart was starting to understand exactly what that meant.

Idk if ur taking requests but I'd love to request a steve harrington x reader, where the reader is the one that is trying to get Steve to open up and trust to let her love him and be a part of his life. I read a lot of steve doing that for reader but I'd love to switch it around
I hope you like this! thank you for your request💖 2k (sorry for any typos)
It was early on a Friday morning when you met Steve Harrington.
New to town and your job at the coffee shop, you were wholly unprepared to see the beautiful boy that walked in by chance during your shift. It’s as if he was stepping into your life just like in the movies, in slow motion montage with his hair blown back by the crisp autumn air. You never imagined he’d end up being your friend –or more– but he did.
You stumbled through your meeting, your heartbeat loud in your ears as he made easy conversation with you. Thankfully there was no one else at the shop, so there was no need to rush his order as he asked question after question.
“I’m Steve.” He said with a smile when you handed him his order. “Steve Harrington.”
“It’s nice to meet you, Steve.” You smiled back and gave him your name despite it being displayed on your apron. “Have a nice day.”
“Thanks.” He raised his large latte in farewell and smiled again for good measure. “Catch you later.”
It only went uphill from then on. Though you didn’t think you’d see him, let alone talk to him again, you did. Steve turned up at your morning shift like clockwork, charming smiles and easy conversation everyday. It was never that easy for you to talk to someone, but with Steve it was a piece of pie. There was a connection between you, and you know Steve felt it too with how comfortable the two of you grew in the presence of the other.
Then there was the matter of your crush. Inevitable really, but your mind struggled to catch up with how hard your heart was falling for him. You thought about him day and night, his smile, his legs and the way his hair glows when the setting sun catches on the strands. Your heart jumped when you saw him, your skin buzzed when your fingers brushed. Each time you tried to put some distance between you, give your heart a little break from the onslaught of your feelings, Steve bulldozed his way through every wall you attempted to put up.
One day four months after you met, you realized just how lucky you were to have him be so open with you. It was probably 8:30 at night when you finished closing up the store, flipping the sign and putting the chairs upside down on the tables. Steve was sitting on a booth by the back, talking about his shift at FV. He insisted on staying with you after closing time, and the two of you made a casual hangout out of it.
Once you were done with the routine cleanup, you placed the day’s leftover pastries on a tray between you; Steve’s hand reached for them mindlessly as the two of you talked. It was the first time Steve mentioned his past, the failed relationships that hurt him and the awful things the town went through at the same time. You apologized for bringing it up but he shook his head, his hand reaching for yours in comfort. It’s okay I wanted to tell you.
He talked about his friend Robin, and you talked about your friend who moved to New York and you haven’t heard from since. Steve asked if you ever had a boyfriend and you shrugged. I pretend I never did, he said I felt too much, whatever that means. Steve trash talked him and it made you laugh so hard your stomach hurt. There behind the shop’s closed curtains you realized how lucky you were to have this gem of a friendship.
Weeks later you run into Robin, Steve’s friend, and then Steve himself in the frozen goods aisle at the grocery store. They were going to hang out with their kid friends, and you were on grocery shopping duty for your house. You should’ve been used to Steve and being near him, but you get flustered anyway, looking at him and away every moment he caught you looking.
Robin invited you to a party the next day, the one that changed everything.
It’s late the next night at the party when you find a quiet place to talk to Steve. The two of you sat down close together on a couch, your knees touching his as you talked for what felt like hours. As the minutes ticked by, the two of you leaned closer and closer, Steve’s voice lowering to hushed whispers and yours doing the same. You laughed so hard to teared up and Steve looked at you like he accomplished the most incredible thing in the world. He’d listened to you talk about the past, all his attention solely on you before he shared details of his own life. Months and months of knowing each other led you to that moment of true comfort, where the whole world disappeared.
Then he’d asked you to dance, and you never felt more alive. It was fun and exciting, and every time you saw Steve have fun, your heart jumped inside your chest. Until the music slowed down and his hands settled on your waist while yours went around his neck. Something shifted right then –or so you thought– an irreversible jump from being friends to something else. Something more, that rhymed a lot with the word love. Steve’s eyes locked on yours and sparks danced between you, turning everything a hazy and lovely pink only heightened by Steve’s words.
“Do you want to go on a date with me?” He asked, voice low as he smiled.
“Yes.” You whispered back, feeling like the luckiest girl in the world.
But then a phone call came while you were at work the next Monday afternoon, hours before you were set to get ready for the date. An apologetic and hesitant Steve murmuring that he was sorry and that it’s for the best that you cancel the date. When you agreed and asked him what day would be better, he’d said sorry and hung up.
✰✰✰✰
It’s Friday night and you’re walking up to Steve’s front door.
The past three days have been a rollercoaster of emotions to be sure. You were angry, then sad, then hurt and confused. Up until last night, when you calmed down enough to think about everything that happened from the day you first met Steve until last Monday. The conversation you had past closing time that one night many months ago is what made everything finally click.
Steve is scared. Steve threw the towel because his heart has been broken too many times for him to risk it again. As much as his phone call hurt the other day, you understand where he’s coming from and like a lovestruck fool you want to make sure he’s okay. You want him to know you’re okay with his decision. He doesn’t have to love you, but you’ll let him know he deserves to let himself be loved. So, with eyes red from crying and a shaking hand, you ring the doorbell.
“Babe… what–?” Steve voice is hoarse as he speaks, then he clears his throat and runs a hand through his hair. It doesn’t help with the mess it’s in at all. “What are you doing here?”
He stands in front of you in a sweatshirt and jeans, his hair a mess and dark circles under his eyes. You want to be mad at him again, anything to distract you from the loud thump thump thump heart gives in your chest for him. He’s the same smiling boy you’re used to seeing and the idea of his intrusive thoughts winning make you step forward and hug him tight.
“Are you okay?” You whisper against the soft material of his sweatshirt, your arms around his waist. “I came to see if you were okay.”
Steve’s arms go around you, his cheek settles on top of your head, and everything in you melts. “Now I am.”
“Can I come in?” You ask, moving to look up at him.
“Yeah, yeah come in.” He nods, letting go of you and opening the door.
The two of you remain silent as you walk to the living room, wordlessly sitting on the couch. Where you used to sit with your thighs pressing together, there’s now enough space between the two of you for someone else. The space Steve wants.
You decide to break the silence first. “I understand where you were coming from, on Monday.”
“I’m sorry, I got scared.” Steve shakes his head and looks away. “I don’t think I can be heartbroken again when this doesn’t work out.”
You frown, turning in your spot to look at him better. “Stevie, what makes you so sure it won’t work out?”
Steve squeezes his eyes shut and takes a deep breath before glancing at you. “Because there’s something wrong with me.”
“There’s nothing wrong with you!” You shake your head, eyebrows meeting in the middle. “Steve, you’ve been with the wrong people, that’s it. It’s–”
“It’s not me, it’s them?” Steve scoffs, but a single tear leaves his eye. “Sure heard that before.”
You move closer to him, kneeling and settling on your heels on the couch. “Stevie, I know you’ve been hurt, and I know you’re scared it’ll happen again. But don’t think it’s you, don’t be unkind with yourself.”
Steve turns and looks at you, his eyes an ocean of emotions. It makes your eyes sting as you start to cry. “I just…” You hiccup between words.
“I just wish you’d look in front of you because I’m here, Steve. And I’m going to remind you how much I love you every day if it means you believe me when I say that you’re worthy of all the love in the world.” Your voice cracks at the end and you clear your throat to speak again, cutting Steve off.
“I know I can’t change the way you feel about yourself, but please trust what I think of you.” You whisper, one hand moving to hold his cheek gently; your faces inches away from each other now. “You’re the most wonderful person I’ve met. You’re fun, and kind, and loving. Anyone would be so lucky to have you and you deserve to have someone love you, even if it’s not me.”
You shake your head and will your tears to stop as you place a kiss on his cheek before stand up. You turn to leave, needing to put space between you, but Steve is quick to stand and take a hold of your hand. When you glance back at him, brown eyes –vulnerable and sweet and loving– look back at yours, and the tiniest of grins lifts the corner of Steve’s lips. “It is you.” He tells you softly, moving his hand to your hip as he takes a step closer. “I want you, if you still want me.”
Something in your eyes must scream Yes, of course I want you! Because next thing you know Steve leans down, so so close to your lips and smiles before kissing you. A pleased sound leaves you, muffled by his lips and they brush against yours. Steve’s hands clutch at the material of your sweatshirt behind you back and you open up to him, running your fingers through his hair. The kiss is everything, and not enough to express your feelings at the same time. Steve invades your senses, his touch and his lips and his affection taking over every though until you’re left dizzy and so in love you could faint.
“I’m so sorry.” Steve pecks your lips before he looks into your eyes. “I love you, so much it scared me. I didn’t think I would feel this way again.”
“I love you too.” You smile softly, leaning up to kiss his lips gently. “I promise you I won’t hurt you, Stevie, quite the opposite.” Steve nods and presses his forehead against yours. “I trust you.”

"Is it okay if we meet up at the park instead?", you suggested to Lance over the phone, "it's only a five minute walk from work for me", earning an affirmative answer on the other side of the line as well as a farewell.
Packing your backpack with your laptop and a book you had to bring home for the weekend, switching everything off and ringing your card so you could get yourself out, heading for the park Lance was meeting you at.
It was something new, so you were being cautious. After all, you had fallen for people before who weren't good for you in the end, so you had learnt to keep your distance. But did you hope that maybe this time it would be different. The Canadian young man and you have been spending some time together after meeting through a mutual friend, and today was no different since he had texted you earlier if you would be up for a stroll in the park after you were done from work, having you accept it and even letting yourself feel giddy about it.
Following the directions he gave you, you saw him sitting in the bench like he had told you, getting up once he saw you and coming closer to you, "Hi, how are you?", he said, giving you a big hug and a kiss on the cheek, "Hi, I've been good, very happy that it's Friday so I get the to be home for the weekend. And you, busy day?", you greeted him back and continuing to walk alongside him, "yeah, the meeting was about the last few things we need to sort out before the race next weekend, so it got a bit longer than I expected but it was all good, means I didn't have to wait too long for you, but I did get you these", he said, showing you a small white paper bag, leaving you to open it.
The small sticker that closed the bag was enough to get you to gasp, recognising your favourite bakery chain's logo, "you say they always run out in the shop they have near your office, so I dropped by the one close to the factory to see if they had some and they did", Lance smiled, seeing you smile back at him, "thank you! Do you want to go and enjoy these by the lake?", you suggested, seeing that it wasn't too busy around there.
Sitting down on the dry grass, you and Lance sat in front of eachother, talking about your day and laughing at funny moments from eachother's day while sharing the croissants he had gotten, "thank you, again, you didn't have to", you pointed to the empty bag, whisking any crumbs away from your lips and clothes, "it was only fair that I got to try "the best croissants ever" according to you, and since I had some time to kill before I met you here, and it is always a pleasure to see your eyes sparkle like that", he said softly, noticing the blush on your cheeks and your shyness coming through, taking the hint to keep talking, "and a croissant like this after a long meeting and at a park like this with this company, there's not much more than I want".
.
You were dancing around in the kitchen, waiting for the water to boil so you could put the pasta in, singing to the lyrics before you phone stopped the song and instead made the sound of an incoming FaceTime call, seeing Lance's contact on your screen. "Hi Lance!", you greeted, waving at the screen, "Hey, you, am I catching you at a bad time?", he asked, lighting what looked like a nightsand lamp, "Just making dinner. Is this a good time for you though? You look like you're going to sleep", you cringed, propping your phone since one of the glss containers you had on your counter top so you could put the pasta in and still she Lance while he saw you in shot too, "I wanted to talk to you", he mused, "I saw your text, but they needed me to fix something on the steering wheel and just to be sure I called now because I was afraid you'd be working still and I would interrupt it", he reasoned.
Hoping the LED light that illuminated your working area in the kitchen hid your blushing cheeks, you managed to reply, "I was just checking in with you, seeing how it went. Aren't you tired or in need of sleep? We can talk another day, it's fine", you admitted, even though deep down you were enjoying his (virtual) company, especially seeing him like this, tucked into bed in his pyjamas and looking so handsome and soft, "I'm okay, don't worry", he yawned, "so, what are you cooking?".
Conversation flowed while you cut the vegetables so you could cook them in the pan, sharing the recipe with Lance and coming closer to the phone whenever you were letting things cook on their own, supporting your face on the palms of your hands while your elbows rested on the counter top, doing one final move to plate your pasta, "uhh, that looks good!", Lance exclaimed, seeing you top the dish with some cheese, "it usually tastes good, yeah, and it's also very quick to make. I began just when we started this call and we've been here for- oh, we've been here for nearly an hour! Lance, you could've told me! You probably need to sleep, I'm sorry that I kept you here!", you apologised, guilt overcoming your whole body. You truly didn't think you had been on call with Lance for such a long time, it was truly flowing and, above anything, feeling comfortable.
"You don't have to apoligise, I stayed here because I wanted to be with you and spend time with you, unless you're apologising because I bothered you", he hinted, "No! No, not at all, I loved sort of having you here with me", you hurriedly clarified, "I just didn't want to bother you or your sleep routine, it's really late where you are", you shot him another apologetic look, "I said none of that, no apologising for this anymore. I enjoyed having you here with me too", he smiled softly, "but if I don't go to sleep soon, tomorrow is going to hurt", he reasoned.
Sitting by your table, you propped the phone again against your bottle of water, "sleep is very important, Lanc-", you were interrupted by him, "but I need to know if the pasta is delicious or not, it's only fair", he winked as you rolled your fork on the plate, grabbing bit of everything and trying it, "it's amazing, I can confirm", you said, "you look like a little chipmunk, and your dimple is showing too. Totally worth it staying up this late", he complimented, leaving you to bid him goodbye, "goodnight Lance, have a good sleep", you whispered, switching off the call when Lance gave you the same wishes, giddily smiling at your pasta at his attentiveness, allowing yourself to be swept off your feet.
.
"Was it as good as your pasta, though?", Lance asked you as you walked along the city streets after leaving the restaurant where you had dinner. The small and cosy local restaurant was perfect for another date with Lance, your hand latched in his since you left the restaurant after thanking the owner for a great evening, "I'm not a professional, so this one was better, but my own has potential too, you know?", you giggled, allowing yourself to lean a little bit on Lance, pulling your bodies closer to one another, making him also feel your own easiness around him, which he appreciated. From the moment he met you, he knew you wouldn't be swept off your feet with elaborate dinner dates and fancy invitations to lavish places. Above anything, he noticed you were cautious, not that he thought that you were expecting him to do you any physical harm, but because maybe you had been emotionally hurt before. Because of that, Lance made it his mission to show you what love could be like, how beautiful and how simple two people who care about eachother could develop into something more.
Seeing a flower peeking out of a house fence, Lance couldn't contain himself and he plucked it, making you stop, "Here, look at me, please", he mumbled, tucking the flower behind your ear carefully, his eyes boring into yours, "I really like you, Y/N", he confessed, "and I won't pressure you into anything, I can wait. Damn, I'll wait forever for you if I have to. But I don't want you to go on without knowing this", he smiled hopefully, not knowing your reaction as he hadn't planned to do it like this.
Cupping his cheek, your thumb ran over his cheek, softly touching the corner of his lips in a silent question to know if he too wanted it before you leaned up to kiss him, pressing your lips in his for a tender kiss, pulling back to see eachother's reaction, only to crash his lips against yours passionately.
"I really like you too", you whispered, afraid to disturb the moment between you, earning a chuckle from Lance, "I should hope so, imagine if you were to tell me now that you despised me after that kiss, I don't think I could handle it", he placed his hand on top of his heart, earning him a small slap on his chest, "I'm trying to be serious with you", you whined, "So am I, Y/N, completely serious. I'm in this if you are", he said as he hugged your, kissing your forehead before kissing your lips again, "I think I found a new favourite thing to do".
.
"So you don't want to go?", Lance questioned, "it's not that I don't want to go and see you do what you love, it's the whole thing, Lance", you murmured, "I'd have to fly out on a different day, I'd have to sleep somewhere, and that whole thing needs to be accounted for, I need to sit down and look properly at all of it", you almost hissed at him, not enjoying the tone it came out of your mouth but going with it nonetheless.
"But I can pay for all of that. I am, in fact, paying for all of that, that's why I'm offering you to come to a race weekend", Lance admitted, frustrated that something so simple for him was causing a fight between you, "and that is one of my problems! I don't want you to have to take care of me like that, I can take of myself, I'm not dependent on anyone and I can do things on my own!", you admitted, voice shaky while you looked at him, "I need a minute, please", you said as you felt your eyes grow wetter, excusing yourself to go to your balcony.
You knew Lance had money, a whole lot of it, so much so that, realistically, you coming along with him to the race would go probably unnoticed in his bank balance, but that didn't mean you were totally comfortable with him paying for everything. You could take care of yourself, now you knew that, despite of years of previous boyfriends telling you it would be hard for you to make it on your own and by your own merit. And you were scared, because was this the way this was going to end? Had you been, yet again, blinded by a guy who wanted you to be what he liked, who wanted to build you to the image he wanted and needed you to depict?
Inside, Lance noticed the cold air coming from the small gap of the door to the balcony that you had left open, imagining how much colder it would be for you, standing outside, looking around in hopes to find what he was looking for.
You heard the door squeak as it opened, thinking to yourself it was just the breeze when you heard footsteps, thinking for a second someone had broken into your house uninvited, "I'd prefer if you didn't have a cold", Lance said softly as he draped a blanket over your shoulders carefully, not missing your stunned expression, "you're still here?", you managed to let out, "I, I thought you were going to leave, I didn't think you'd stay", you stuttered, "Why would I leave?", Lance asked and almost immediately he answered his own question: because that's all you've ever known. When things got complicated, they would leave you. So you naturally thought he would do the same.
"Y/N, I'm not going to leave you when we fight", Lance said, keeping himself close to you, holding himself against the railing, "that is a promise I intend on keeping to you, and I'm going to do my absolute best to make sure that I won't break it", he declared, "Can we talk about it though?".
Holding his hand in yours, you nudged him to sit in one of the chairs you had in your balcony, sitting in front of him so you could express what was on your mind, "this is a bad story from past experiences, so if you still want to make that exit, I promise I'll manage and forget what you just side", you suggested playfully, feeling him squeeze you hand tighter in his own, "I've been in bad relationships before, it probably does not come to a surprise to you, but some things still haunt me years after. I used to have a boyfriend that would get me presents, or he would pay for things, and for a bit a just took it down as he was being nice, but he slowly started offering things in exchange of something, like me changing what I wore because I would wear something he got me instead, or change what I ate, who I spent time with, ans slowly everything he somehow offered turned out to be because he thought I couldn't do it on my own, that I wouldn't ever be able to sustain myself independently, so he thought he might as well "help me" and change who I was in the process", you gulped, "and I only realised it later, when his supposed affection for me was only there when I complied with what he asked of me, and the moment I realised was a constant fight, day in day out, where he left and then he would come back and belittle so much into thinking that it was my fault he would leave and we wouldn't solve anything we were fighting about", you confessed, "breaking up wasn't even the hardest part, but the scars that it left me with are still here, that's why I thought you would leave, because you wouldn't want to hear my side and-, fuck", you wiped a tear that insisted on falling, going back to play with Lance's fingers after, "I love you so much, I care about you so much, and you make me feel things I've never felt before without any conditions", you looked up at him, seeing an expression that was a mixture of sadness, anger and maybe some revolt too.
Lance brought your hands together and kissed them, "thank you for sharing that with me, I appreciate it", he began, "and I'm so sorry that some bastard thought it was okay to treat you like that, because it is not", he squeezed your hands, rubbing his thumb on them, "you deserve to feel all the love in the world without anything in it other that love itself. I get to be loved by you and that is one of my biggest blessings, and I'll be damned if I ever make you feel less loved or less appreciated than you deserve. But that promise I made is true, I want us to always talk about something that we don't see eye to eye on, so we can understand the other's perspective, I don't want to run away from anything", he nodded for you to continue, signalling he was done.
"I'm not from the same social or professional sphere that you are, and that makes me wonder about this whole situation, like there isn't a way that I can keep up with all of that travel on my own", you admitted honestly, "and I don't know how I feel about you covering those costs, like, of course I want to go see you do your thing at the track, and be there to support you, to congratulate you when you win and to hold you when things don't go as well, even if it's not all the time, but all of that seems a lot", you explained the situation to the best of your ability.
"Can I go now?", Lance wondered, his hands still holding yours, "I don't want to sound like a prick, or like I'm flashing everyone of how much I have, but it is also true that I don't mind paying for those things. Truly. And I don't do it because I want some change from you in return. I do it because I am fortunately able to and because I want the people I love with me as much as they're able to", he said, moving his hand to caress your cheek, "I never want you to think for a second that anything that I offer, present you with or pay for is a way of manipulating you", he assured, looking for your own reassurance in your eyes.
You shuffled around in your seat, looking into those beautiful brown eyes you loved so much, "thank you", you smiled through your tears, "you don't have to thank me for loving you, I should be the one thanking you for trusting me and for letting me love you".

✦ a/n: The epilogue's finally here! As I said before, I had to split it into a few parts because it turned out really long and I wanted to tie all loose ends lol I haven't finished writing it yet, but I'll try to keep posting twice a week. Many things will have changed in this, since it's set mostly in 1992. We will have some flashbacks, but I dated all the parts so it wouldn't get confusing. Hope you enjoy the read, feedback is welcome! ❤
December 31, 1991
San Francisco in December hit me with that familiar chill as soon as I stepped off the plane; I quickly slipped on my gloves and shrugged into my coat, letting out a sigh as the cold nipped at my nose and fogged up my breath. It felt weird being back after so long, back to the city where I'd lived, loved, and grown up all those years ago.
I’d bid farewell to San Francisco two years back when my art career started picking up steam, making the move to LA seem like the logical next step. Coming back to the city stirred up a pain that ran deep in my bones — a constant reminder of the happiness I once knew but could never quite recapture, a bittersweet flashback to all I'd experienced — and all that had slipped away.
Lars had invited friends and family for a massive bash at his vacation home, ringing in the end of the year and welcoming 1992 with a bang. I had a hunch the extravagant party had something to do with his recent divorce, after a rushed marriage which had barely lasted two years. He'd even sent his driver, Simon, to scoop me up from the airport.
It was a relief not to have to wrangle a taxi amidst the chaos of folks flying in for the last flights before New Year's Eve. Slipping into the Jaguar, I peeled off my sunglasses with a sigh; those shades had become my shield against being recognized in the last few months. Ever since I'd started doing TV gigs, getting spotted by strangers and paparazzi was becoming a regular thing. It came with the territory, sure, but sometimes, a girl just wanted a little peace and quiet.
"Good afternoon, Miss Burton," Simon greeted me with a smile as I hopped into the car, and I shot one right back at him. "Mr. Ulrich was really looking forward to your arrival."
"Thanks, Simon. Are the others already there?" I inquired, my gaze drifting out the window as we cruised away from the airport.
"Yes, Mr. Hammett and Mr. Newsted are. Mr. Hetfield will show up later; I'll swing back to get him after dropping you off. And Miss Summers won't be joining us."
I let out a sigh. Ever since Cliff had passed, Leanne had drifted away from the group, moving to another city and cutting most ties. She said it hurt too much to stick around — too many reminders of him . I got where she was coming from and harbored no hard feelings, but her absence had definitely put some distance between us over the years.
"Well, I'll have to shoot her a call later and wish her a Happy New Year," I mused absentmindedly. "Do you know if my aunt and uncle are gonna make it?"
"Yes, I'll pick them up later," Simon replied, earning a small smile from me. Despite Cliff's passing hitting us all hard, Aunt Jan and Uncle Ray had been a steady presence for me and the guys. They'd practically become like second parents to all of us over the years, always there in the Metallica routine, whether it was on the professional front or at family and friends' get-togethers.
It took us a bit to roll up to Lars' vacation home, a big old mansion tucked away in one of San Francisco’s most expensive neighborhoods, a far cry from the tiny house we used to live in back in the day. Simon pulled up at the main entrance; the door was wide open, and I caught a glimpse of the staff buzzing around, putting the final touches on the shindig. Judging by the crates of booze being unloaded, this was gonna be more than just a cozy New Year's bash with a few friends.
"Thanks for the ride, Simon," I said, grabbing my bag and popping open the car door. "Happy New Year."
"Happy New Year, Miss."
It didn't take me long to spot Lars; the moment I stepped into the foyer, there he was, barking orders to his assistant at lightning speed, champagne glass already in hand. I couldn't help but grin; classic Lars, hitting the booze before anyone else. He turned my way at the sound of my footsteps echoing on the polished floor, breaking into a smile as he strode over.
"Nore!" he exclaimed, pulling me into a bear hug. "I'm so stoked you made it."
"Hey, Lars," I grinned, returning the hug. It had been a hot minute since I'd seen him or any of the guys; 1991 had been a whirlwind for all of us, and work had pretty much consumed our lives at warp speed.
"How was the trip? Did Simon take good care of you?"
"Yeah, it was smooth sailing. Simon's a pro, always has been. But seriously, Lars, you shouldn't have him grinding away on the last day of the year."
"Oh, he's getting compensated handsomely for it, don't you worry. Hey, you remember your way around the house, right? Kirk and Jason are probably chilling in the sauna. Oh, Allie!" Lars called out to his assistant, a dark-haired girl who looked eager to please. "Got the guest list handy? Can you show our girl here where she'll be crashing tonight?" Allie nodded briskly, and Lars flashed me a smile, turning back to me. "Party kicks off at 9 PM, so I'm just tying up loose ends. Make yourself comfy, grab some grub if you're hungry, alright? Consider the place your own."
I trailed after Allie to my room, a fancy suite with a king-size bed that looked like it had never been slept in. Lars always had a flair for the extravagant, but Metallica's success in recent years seemed to have kicked that into overdrive; his new vacation house was straight-up lavish, with more rooms than I could count, a massive pool, a sauna, and even a private movie theater.
I decided to chill in my room until the party kicked off; as much as I was itching to catch up with everyone, I was straight-up wiped out. Lately, I'd been craving more time alone, away from the chaos of the ragers my friends used to live for. But hey, I knew we'd all cross paths eventually, and sure enough, when I finally made my grand entrance, one of the first faces I spotted was Kirk's, rolling in with James, who apparently had arrived while I was hiding out.
"Nore!" Kirk grinned, pulling me into a hug. I chuckled, hugging him back. "Damn, you're looking good!"
"Thanks, Kirk. It's all Lars' doing; he picked out the dress," I replied, nodding at the long red number I was sporting. I’d found it laid out on the bed in my room with a note telling me to rock it for the night. I eyed Kirk's suit, a slick navy number with gold accents. "You're looking sharp yourself."
"Yeah, that's all Lars' handiwork too. Dude's on a mission to throw the ultimate party. But hey, who am I to complain? There's champagne!" Kirk chuckled, clinking his glass against mine.
"Hey, Nore." I glanced up at the sound of his voice, meeting James' intense blue gaze. A faint smile tugged at my lips; being around him always stirred up a whirlwind of emotions that were hard to untangle. Love, sure, but also heartache. It stung, yet it felt oddly comforting. Like coming home.
"Hi, James," I greeted him softly. Kirk shot us a quick look.
“Well, I'm gonna go track down our host. Catch you guys later!" He excused himself. I watched Kirk saunter off, a slight jolt running through me as James' hand landed on the small of my back.
"Have you grabbed a bite to eat yet? Lars said you got here before me," he murmured, his voice low. I looked up at him, seeing his eyes scanning the crowd of guests, a champagne flute in his other hand.
"Not yet."
"Want me to snag something for you? Lars went all out with the spread this time."
"I'm good, James."
"Didn't drag your boyfriend along to the party?" he quipped, and I couldn't help but snort.
"What boyfriend?"
"That... Brian guy? I dunno, it's hard to keep up with all the dudes you've cycled through since we split," he remarked, a hint of irony dancing in his eyes. I furrowed my brow; was he joking or dead serious? It was getting tougher to read James these days.
"If you wanna know if I'm seeing someone, just ask," I shot back sharply. He let out a sardonic laugh and rolled his eyes. I held his gaze. "And what about your 'Nothing Else Matters' chick? She bailed on the party?"
"I ended things with her," he replied, a hint of annoyance creeping into his tone. "And I've told you that song wasn't about her."
"Then who was it about?"
"Do I really need to spell it out?" he growled, stepping closer. I lifted my chin, meeting his gaze head-on. James and I had been locked in this dance for a while now, his anger clashing with my pain like sparks flying. It didn't shock me that Kirk wanted no part of our little reunion.
"I'm gonna go track down Lars," I tossed back dryly before strutting off. I could practically feel James rolling his eyes as he polished off the rest of his champagne in one gulp.
I didn't cross paths with James again until much later, well after midnight had come and gone. We’d all gathered on the balcony to catch the fireworks, dishing out Happy New Year wishes and hugs left and right. When the crowd filtered back inside, I lingered behind, a cigarette dangling between my fingers as I stared up at the star-studded sky, grappling with the bitter irony that another year had kicked off without Cliff here to see it.
"I did wanna know, actually," a voice cut through the silence, jolting me. I turned to find James leaning against one of the pillars, his gaze fixed on me with a serious edge.
"What?" I murmured, my heart picking up its pace as he closed the gap between us.
"You said if I wanted to know if you were seeing someone, I just had to ask. And I did wanna know," he replied, so close now I could smell the booze on his breath.
"I'm not," I answered, and he grunted, satisfied, before pulling me into his arms, his lips finding mine.
He tasted like beer and tobacco, his lips moving against mine in a familiar dance, the echoes of an old tune. No matter how much time passed or how much it hurt, James and I always found our way back to each other.
"You know that song was about you," he murmured, his kisses trailing down my neck, his grip tightening on my hips as he pulled me closer, our bodies pressed together. "Do you really have to mess with me like this?"
I didn't answer; instead, I grabbed the front of his shirt, pulling him back to me, his arms holding me tight as he kissed me with urgency, nipping at my lower lip. He wasn't holding back as he pushed me against the balcony railing, his hands hiking up the skirt of my dress, his touch igniting a fire in my belly.
"My room or yours?" I gasped against his lips.
"Does yours come with a bathroom?" he quipped, and I chuckled softly, nodding. "Figures. Lars always hooks you up with the best ones."
"Mine, then," I murmured, a faint smile playing on my lips.
We made our way up to my room, James guiding me through the labyrinth of hallways and rooms in the house with his hand in mine. The moment the door clicked shut behind us, his hands were back on me, pulling me close as his lips trailed hungrily along my neck, tugging at the straps of my dress.
"James, you're gonna wreck the dress..." I protested weakly, my fingers tangled in his hair. He grunted, yanking it down, and I heard a rip that probably meant the garment was already ruined anyway.
"I'll get you another one," he grumbled. "As many as you want."
With urgency matching his, I stripped off his shirt, a few buttons popping off and bouncing across the bedroom floor. Before I could even blink, he lifted me, depositing me on the bed and positioning himself over me. I kicked off my heels, sending them flying into some forgotten corner, releasing a low moan as he pressed against me, his arousal evident through the fabric of his pants. There was no time for calm contemplation, no room for hesitation or second-guessing if this was the right move; our desire for each other was insatiable, ravenous and desperate, and I felt it would consume me completely if we didn't satisfy it right then and there.
I sighed as his lips reclaimed mine, his hand tangled in my hair, gripping it firmly as I worked on unbuttoning his pants, easing them down. He pulled back for a moment, shedding the rest of his clothes before sliding off my panties, emitting a low groan as he entered me. I shut my eyes, clutching onto his arms tightly, my nails digging into his skin. He wasn't holding back; and honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way.
"Look at me," he growled, his hand guiding my chin as he thrust into me, sending waves of pleasure coursing through my body. I obeyed, meeting his gaze as tears pricked at the corners of my eyes, my mouth slightly agape as I let out small, sharp moans. He shifted his hand to my neck, pressing his forehead against mine.
"James..." I moaned, my grip on his arms tightening as he picked up the pace, sending shivers down my spine. "James..."
"I wanna ruin you. You get that?" he growled, sending a jolt of pleasure through my body at his words. Of course, I got it. What were we if not each other's downfall? What more could I want than for him to consume me entirely, even if just for a moment? For all the pain and heartache to vanish, if only while he was inside me. "I want you to be mine, all mine, all mine... Fuck..." he buried his face in my neck as my climax washed over me, my body clenching around him, my legs wrapping around his hips, pulling him deeper. "Nore..." he groaned, his own release crashing over him, filling me completely as he continued to move until the intensity of his peak forced him to collapse onto me.
He rolled away, settling beside me, leaving a pulsating void inside me where pain and pleasure danced together in my womb and heart. I shut my eyes, focusing on steadying my breath, and let out a soft chuckle when I felt his lips on my neck, his arms pulling me close in a fleeting but genuine comfort.
"My girl..." he murmured against my ear, sending a delicious shiver down my spine. I'd lost track of how many times he'd called me that, but it never failed to stir something in me. "Why do you keep running from me? Don't you know I love you so?"
I opened my eyes, locking onto his gaze, a blend of longing and yearning reflected back at me. Nestling into his embrace, I placed a soft kiss on his lips, feeling his gaze soften into a tender warmth that sent tingles down my spine.
"I'm here now," I murmured, tracing my fingers gently over his face. He sighed, closing his eyes, intertwining our hands and pressing kisses to my palm, one, two, three times before pulling me close in a tight hug.
Peace hadn't been a frequent visitor in my life for a while, but in that moment, I found it. I'd always find my way back to James, and he'd always find his way back to me. That certainty coursed through my veins, leaving me feeling whole in a way I hadn't in ages.
The next day, we'd be back in the spotlight, the distance between us creeping back in like a toxic fog. But for now, on that night, I was content. I was at peace.
I was home.
September 28, 1986
The shrill ring of the phone pierced through the silence of the empty house, yanking me out of a deep slumber with a groan. I blinked, the heavy rain drumming against the bedroom windows registering in my foggy mind. Stretching out across the bed, I groped for James, only to remember he wasn't there; my boyfriend was off on tour with my cousin and my friends. That left just Leanne and me holding down the fort.
Dragging myself out of bed, my eyes still weighed down by sleep, I shrugged into my robe and slipped on my slippers before trudging out of the room, descending the stairs at a snail's pace. Flicking on the lights in the living room, I scowled at the clock — it wasn't even seven in the morning. This better be an important call, I grumbled inwardly. I was itching to crawl back under the covers.
"Hey," I mumbled, stifling a yawn and rubbing my eyes in an attempt to shake off the sleepiness.
"Hey, Nore," James' voice crackled through the receiver, but in my grogginess, I barely registered the tense undertone, so unlike his usual laid-back demeanor.
"Babe..." I murmured, another yawn threatening to escape. "I know you're in a different time zone, but it's way early here. I was out cold..."
"I'm sorry. I had to call," he replied, and this time, the strain in his voice didn't go unnoticed. I furrowed my brow, sinking down onto the couch beside the phone, suddenly wide awake.
"Is everything alright? Did something happen?"
"Yeah, something happened. Is Leanne there with you?"
"I think she's asleep. Why?"
"We had a crash," he said, and my heart clenched, a surge of unease and dread knotting my stomach. "We were on the road... Late at night. The driver lost control..."
My breath hitched, and in that instant, a sense of foreboding washed over me. Something felt off, deeply unsettling. It just didn't add up. I knew I should be getting this call from someone else. I knew my cousin; I knew Cliff would want to speak to me and Leanne directly, to break the news himself.
Like when he shared he was leaving Long Beach for San Francisco. Like when he announced he was joining Metallica. Like when he called to tell me Dave got booted from the band, or when he rang to say Metallica was wrapping up tour and he wanted me there for their first hometown gig after dropping the first album.
Something wasn't right.
"James," I whispered, my voice trembling, tears pricking at my eyes as if I already knew what he was going to say. "What happened to Cliff?"
January 1st, 1992
I jolted awake, my cheeks damp with tears that refused to cease flowing. I sighed heavily, my breath shaky, the early morning sunlight just beginning to seep through the curtains. James' arms were wrapped snugly around me, his breath warm against my shoulder as he softly snored.
That dream, again.
It always seemed to resurface whenever I was near James. Maybe my subconscious still linked him to that chilly morning, to that phone call that’d shattered any hope of happiness for the rest of that year and beyond. A call that tore a hole in the fabric of my world, leaving an ache in my heart that felt like it would never mend.
The call that had shattered my heart for good, leaving no chance of putting the pieces back together.
I carefully shifted James' arm away from me, slipping out of bed and heading to the bathroom. Staring at my reflection in the mirror, I took in my tired blue eyes framed by dark circles, my brown hair tumbling in waves over my shoulders, and the red marks on my neck and collarbone left by James the night before. With a sigh, I opened the bathroom cabinet, my hands trembling slightly as I reached for the pills I knew would help ease my anxiety.
I lacked the courage to return to bed, so I nestled into one of the armchairs in the corner of the room, observing James' peaceful slumber as the daylight gradually filled the space. He stirred awake soon after, as if sensing my absence beside him, his eyelids fluttering before he groggily opened his eyes. With a puzzled frown, he reached out for the bed, only to find it empty, prompting him to scan the room. A sigh escaped him when he spotted me, a sense of relief washing over his features that tugged at my heartstrings.
"Bad dream?" he inquired, and I simply nodded in response. "You wanna hop back into bed?"
"I'd rather not risk slipping into another nightmare," I admitted, and he sighed, sitting upright.
"Well, I know a surefire way to keep you awake, if you're interested," he quipped, and I managed a shaky laugh. I much preferred this relaxed and caring version of James to the sarcastic and irritable one from the night before. "So, spill. What was haunting you this time?"
"The usual. That day," I murmured. It wasn't anything new; I'd replayed that nightmare countless times, and James was well aware. My demons weren't a mystery to us, but that didn't make them any less terrifying.
With a sigh, he got up and strolled over to me, scooping me up effortlessly, which elicited a surprised gasp from me. He carried me back to bed, settling me down beside him, his hand securing my waist while the other supported the underside of my thighs, lifting one leg and tucking it around his waist. I hugged him tightly, nuzzling into his chest. It was a brief moment of warmth and solace, a fleeting calmness that I knew would vanish as soon as the day kicked into gear and he walked out that door.
"Are you taking off today?" I whispered softly. I understood that once James and I dove back into our regular routines — fame, commitments, the whole mess — things would get complicated again. I'd lose him once more; I'd been through that too many times in the last few years to entertain any other outcome. But as long as we were together, there, shielded from everything else, he was mine. And I craved his presence. I craved his warmth.
"Do you want me to jet today?" he countered, and I shook my head no. He grumbled under his breath, the rumble vibrating against my cheek as I snuggled closer. "Then I'll hang tight. I suppose we can annoy Lars a bit longer."
"I'm too scared to doze off," I admitted weakly, grappling with the heaviness of my eyelids, which threatened to seal shut from exhaustion. James planted a kiss on the top of my head, gently stroking my hair.
"I ain't budging. If you slip into that nightmare again, I'll be right here when you wake up. Deal?" he whispered, and I nodded.
I knew that as soon as I drifted off, that same haunting dream would likely rear its ugly head. It was just one more cruel reminder of the growing chasm between James and me. It felt like we were broken, perpetually out of sync, and his nearness both healed and wounded me in equal measure. But in that moment, I was willing to bear the pain if it meant he'd stick by my side.
"I love you, Jamie," I murmured, and he sighed, pulling me close as my body surrendered to sleep.
"I love you too, Nore," his voice was the last thing I heard before drifting off.
February 18, 1992
The bouquet of red roses James had given me was beginning to droop, the once vibrant petals shriveling and browning with each passing day. Yet, the fragrance lingering in the air remained sweet and evocative, as if the flowers were still in full bloom.
I sighed as I ran a brush through my hair, eyeing the dress laid out on the bed for the evening bash. It was the launch party for the new TV network schedule I'd been hired for, and showing up was not just a courtesy but a must.
I hadn't crossed paths with James much since our time at Lars' getaway spot. His absence had become a familiar ache over the last few years, a kind of shield we'd unintentionally built between us over time. Yet, there was always that tiny flicker of hope that maybe, just maybe, he'd call out of the blue and bring back that sense of ease with his voice.
To my surprise, the phone did ring that day. I set the brush down on the vanity, hurriedly making my way to the bedside table to answer it, a rush of excitement coursing through me.
“Nore?” the voice on the other end wasn't James', but it still warmed my heart, prompting a smile to spread across my face as I sank back onto the bed, cradling the phone to my ear.
“Lea!” I exclaimed, feeling a surge of joy. “It's been too long! How've you been?”
“I'm great! And you?”
“Oh, you know. Just hanging in there. How's Joe?” I swiftly changed the subject. As much as I adored Leanne, I wasn't ready to spill my guts about how I was really feeling.
“Oh, he's doing fantastic. Actually, that's why I rang you up. We're getting married!” she announced, her excitement palpable, and I couldn't help but smile.
“Lea, that's incredible! When's the big day?”
“It's in August. We figured summer would be perfect. I'm calling to extend the invite; would you do me the honor of being one of my bridesmaids?”
I leaped up, my grin stretching wider across my face. Leanne and I had been thick as thieves since day one; seeing her so thrilled about tying the knot, and knowing she wanted me to be part of her big day, warmed my heart.
“Oh, absolutely!” I exclaimed, a bubbling laugh of joy and surprise escaping my lips. Lea chuckled in response, matching my excitement. “Thank you! I know it's going to be beautiful. Can you fill me in on all the details later?”
The rest of my day sparkled with newfound energy after the news; I even caught myself humming an old song as I finished getting dolled up for the evening bash, weaving my hair into an intricate hairdo my mom had insisted on teaching me.
When I finished getting ready, I checked myself out in the mirror, pretty pleased with the result; the dark blue spaghetti-strap dress hugged my curves just right, with the skirt flaring out at the waist and skimming down to my ankles. A dainty golden choker with crystals adorned my neck, and my long brown locks were styled to perfection, framing my face in all the right places, with my eyes sparkling, cheeks a touch flushed, and lips painted red.
But, of course, I couldn't roll up to an event like that on my own; right on the dot at 7 p.m., I heard the honk signaling my ride had arrived. I sauntered down the stairs, arching an eyebrow in surprise as I stepped outside and spotted the limo parked up front. My old friend Charlotte rolled down the window from the backseat, flashing me a big grin.
“Hey, Nore!” she chirped as I slid into the car, handing over a glass of champagne, which earned a soft chuckle from me. “Ready to rock?”
“I guess I’m a bit jittery. First time going to a party like this one,” I admitted. Now that I was on my way, the thought of facing a swarm of photographers and journalists at the event’s entrance was making me more nervous than I cared to admit, and I wasn't sure if I was ready for it.
“Well, it's gonna be a blast, trust me! Everyone who's anyone will be there. I'll be your wingwoman, so don't worry about a thing. I'll make sure you rub elbows with all the big shots you haven't bumped into yet during the shoots.”
I nodded, taking a bit of champagne to settle my nerves, the bubbles dancing on my tongue and momentarily diverting my attention. If my acting career was taking flight now, it was all thanks to Charlie; she'd been the driving force behind my return to the scene after I’d graduated High School, persuading me to switch gears from the Visual Arts program up in San Francisco to Drama School down in Los Angeles, and had even helped me snag my first TV gig.
I'd recently jumped into acting over at the same TV network where Charlotte had been working as an actress for a while. Even though I hadn't wrapped up recording my first project yet, the buzz around a relatively unknown actress snagging the lead in the latest drama series had caught the media’s attention. In just about a year, my life had changed completely, going from being just another face in the crowd to even having paparazzi tail me. But truth be told, I was still getting the lay of the land at the network. Charlie had hit the nail on the head; this party was prime time to make some connections.
We rolled up to the party spot; I soon realized that navigating through the sea of photographers and reporters on that red carpet was no joke. But once I got past the Q&A, which mostly revolved around my work and career, it was time to get down to business. Charlotte ushered me into conversations with all sorts of folks: actors, musicians, executives, and even some of the network's shareholders. It hit me quick that networking at these parties was just as much a part of the job in the entertainment industry as being good at your craft.
The hours zoomed by amid chats, laughter, drinks, and nibbles. Soon, I was feeling drained and decided to grab a bite from the buffet before taking a breather. As I was fixing my plate, I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned around, expecting it to be Charlie, ready to introduce me to someone new.
Never in a million years could I have guessed what awaited me in the next few seconds.
"Nore... Is that really you?" the man exclaimed, looking utterly astonished, and suddenly I was eighteen again, my heart racing in completely uncontrollable pirouettes as my breath hitched, my surprised gaze meeting his, the world filling with color and song as I stared into the eyes of Dave Mustaine.

Chapter 2 Friends no Longer but now Family
Vlad was given the all clear by the doctors and he returned home to his business which he was hit with the reality of everything he had done. Jack Fenton hadn’t intentionally caused the accident and Maddy only ever saw him as a friend. The fact he ever thought Jack had the level of intelligence to intentionally hurt his friend was insanity. He walked into his empty home and he sighed as he walked to his library. It was so big, extravagant, and meaningless. A dolled up hollow shell for a hollow man. He built his business on no proper merits stealing from others for his own gain. He entered the room filled with books and sat down in a chair and sighed as his mind raced. How was he going to fix his life? The last 4 years outside the hospital after his accident were all spent desperately trying to claim some semblance of control and power. He recalled it and he just felt ashamed, especially recalling all the time spent with Jasmine and Daniel. His end goal was to hurt them. Such innocent kids… He jumped when the phone rang and he answered it.
“Hello? Vlad Masters speaking,” He said robotically sounding tired.
“V-man!!” Vlad instinctively pulled away the receiver from Jack’s ear exploding greeting.
“Jack,” Vlad said, groaning.
“Honey Vlad is tired,” Maddy chastised her voice barely picked up by the phone but Vlad was thankful for her regardless.
“Gimme the phone!” A young voice called and Vlad smiled hearing Jazz. After a bit of shuffling of fabric Vlad heard her say. “I know you are sleepy but it was nice having you stay with us Mr. Masters!” Jazz told him. “Goodnight I hope we can see you soon!”
Vlad heard a bit of a struggle and heard, “See soon!” Daniel called and his heart melted.
“I will be down to see you both as soon as I can,” Vlad reassured both of them.
“The kids wanted to call you when you got home,” Maddy said, taking the phone. “Now it is off to bed for you both.” She handed it back to Jack and he could hear the shuffling of children being herded by their mother and he chuckled.
“Haha glad to see ya well V-man and to bury the hatchet!” Jack called.
“I’m glad as well,” Vlad said and while he was still trying to see if Jack was someone he could call a friend there were many other reasons as to why he was glad for that failure of an attempt at a relic. “Goodnight,” Vlad said.
“NIIGHHHT!” Jack called and Vlad pulled away the phone wincing and heard the phone call end and he sighed as he set down the phone and stood. He had to get to bed. He had so much to do tomorrow but he doubted he would get much sleep tonight or much sleep for a while.
It would be a quiet six months. The highlights were going to Amity Park to visit the Fentons and seeing Jazz progress through the school year. He was able to be there for every major event when his schedule of running Vladco allowed. A year flew by since the anniversary of his crash landing into Amity Park and he received a call. He sighed tired of phone calls but welcome to being a businessman. He picked it up with a bit of reluctance as he had grown tired of Vladco with little idea on how to move it forward in a legitimate way.
“Vlad Masters speaking,” He straightened putting on a professional tone while still in business mode.
“Was this a bad time? Your line has been busy,” Maddy asked in a gentle tone.
“Never,” Vlad said, feeling like he just stepped out of a hot shower after a long day just hearing her voice.
“Is it possible for you to come down sometime soon?” Maddy inquired.
“I can make room for next week,” Vlad said, not even checking his calendar. He would worry about organizing his schedule later. That was a headache he would have his secretary worry about.
“Great I gotta go I am sorry we are taking the kids swimming,” Maddy said hearing Jack’s yelling in the distance.
“Have fun,” Vlad told her. “Don’t forget sunscreen.”
“Already packed,” Maddy replied. “Good bye Vlad.”
“Farewell Maddy,” Vlad said and the pair hung up and that joy was short-lived. He was hit with the life of Vlad Masters when his phone rang again and his smile faded as he picked up and finished the business day.
Next week came and Vlad was freed from his normal life and allowed to indulge in what life with a family was like. It helped him ignore his own problems at least for a time and he walked out into the main building of Amity Park Airport. It wasn’t hard to find the Fentions with the hulking Jack Fenton and the standard orange jumpsuit along with Maddy’s standard jumpsuit. He wondered if they ever wore anything else?
“Vlady!!” Jack called and waved his arm. Danny was on his other shoulder waving with his dad. Jazz had her nose in a book at her mother’s side a bookmark in her hand.
Vlad sighed with a shake of his head and smile as he walked towards them dragging his suitcase.
“How was your flight?” Jack asked to take his suitcase without even asking.
Thank god Vlad had the forethought to put his important items in his carryon bag which was over his shoulder. Jack was as delicate with inanimate objects as a rampaging ghost dog.
“It was normal,” Vlad replied and Maddy smiled.
“That is great!” She beamed.
Jack was practically vibrating and Maddy gave Jack a sharp look and Vlad narrowed his eyes knowing they were hiding something. The family and their friend walked out of the airport to the Fenton RV and everyone was buckled in. They drove home talking the entire way and Vlad helped Danny out of his car seat and to climb down from the Fenton RV. Maddy helped Jazz and Jack grabbed Vlad’s suitcase, slinging it over his shoulder. Vlad walked in with Danny at his side and Maddy walking ahead of him with Jazz at her side and Jack was making up the rear. Filing inside to escape the heat Vlad unpacked, settling into the guest room and he was glad to be staying in here without a broken arm and leg. Vlad watched movies with Maddy, Jack, Jazz, and Danny and it was nice to not just sulk avoiding much of his house as it gave him bad memories. He stayed in the storage rooms outside of his office where he put the memorabilia from the Wisconsin Dairy King. It was the only area of the house that didn’t bring up painful memories or reminders. When the kids were brought to bed the three were in the kitchen sharing drinks and had been reminiscing about their pasts telling stories from their summers together. The flow of conversation was interrupted when Jack gave maddy a look and she sighed.
“Yes Jack, it's time. Vlad, we have something to tell you,” Maddy said and Vlad looked up from his glass of wine.
“You’re the godfather of our kids!” Jack called happily placing a hand on his shoulder. Vlad had taken a drink and he choked on his drink and he set that down the glass coughing.
Vlad looked up in disbelief, “D-did I hear that right?”
“Yes! You did!” Maddy called happily. “In case something ever happened to us we decided that you should care for the kids as their godfather.”
“We talked it out and there is no one we trust more to ensure our kids turn out right other than us than you!” Jack called. “Heaven forbid we ever go down in our line of duty!”
“We are serious about ghost hunting so I insisted we get that sort of thing sorted out,” Maddy said and Jack groaned at the memory of dealing with the lawyers.
“Aww Vladdy!” Jack called when he noticed tears fall down his cheeks with a smile creeping up. He couldn’t believe it. Never did he think this would happen and he certainly didn’t deserve such an honor.
“I… I don’t know what to say,” Vlad said as he looked between the two.
Maddy placed a hand on his shoulder, “You don’t have to say anything.”
“No changing it now we signed it!” Jack beamed.
Vlad was silent as the two pulled him into a hug and he hugged them both. This was the happiest he had felt in eight years. He forgot what this kind of joy was like something that was so pure and not tainted by anything. Maddy pulled away and poured them more wine and Vlad smiled as Jack pulled away and sat down with his cane of beer.
“I will do my best to be a good influence for them and spoil them,” Vlad added after he wiped his eyes.
“Wouldn’t expect anything less!” Jack called.
“Nothing over the top Vlad,” Maddy said firmly and Vlad chuckled.
“We’ll see,” Vlad said, smirking. Jack’s hearty laugh filled the kitchen and house as they celebrated the new addition to their family. Vlad was making plans now to move to Amity Park. Besides it was about time he left that manor of his up in Wisconsin.

Excerpt 2 from The Secrets the Sun Keeps:
Hey, you- angsty fantasy reader who enjoys supporting indie authors- come check this out! I post... regularly on AO3 here. Please read, comment, reblog, and do whatever it is you lovely people on Tumblr do. Much love <3
~~~
“Hm. With the amount of customers visiting your booth,” He looked around demonstratively, making a show of landing on a competing leather and hides merchant. “I’m sure times are tough for you. I apologize, but I’m on a long journey from out west and the trip is far from over. I cannot afford to give away my valuables to charity. Farewell.” He turned with a flourish of a wave and the woman lashed the backs of his knees with her jagged spined tail. Gotcha, he smirked before morphing his expression to one of bewilderment.
In lieu of the broken common tongue she grated out earlier, she thrust a poly and… Yep, 50 agars into his palm. He stroked along the sharp grain of the snake’s hide, and its dark gold colored scales in phony contemplation. After thinking her offer over for a tense minute, the heavyset reptilian lady glaring a hole in between his eyes, he returned her coins to her and walked off again.
“You not find better deal than what I give you, stupid stranger!” Fumed Risha.
“Your prices offend me, miss. This exotic beast is from the west, further beyond Faulk than any in Minden have likely ever been. I owe it to the serpent to find somebody capable of rendering it into workable armor, rather than simply sell it to a higher bidder. Again, have a good evening.” He said all of this from a distance so that he had cause to yell it over the din of the market, and heads turned towards the ensuing argument. The higher quality vendors with finer wares wouldn’t have given an outsider a second glance, but the words ‘out west’ captured their attention. Still, he paid the solicitors no mind as he pretended to peruse other stalls and booths, the poly from his boot in hand to show that he was wealthy enough to deal with. Poor people were paid poor prices even for expensive items, and the rich got richer. Thieves, liars, and con artists were above both.
With time to kill, Erik milled around town and briefly debated on buying a drink at the tavern, but if he reeked of alcohol the group would assume he’d spent their hard earned money. There was a stable in town that looked like a strong wind would send its abused supports to their knees. He decided to scope that out. Although the building was dilapidated, there were three people standing guard- a middle aged man, a younger boy, and a woman around his age. So it was a family business, then. Walking by looking around the streets as if lost, he realized their house was connected by an alleyway to the stables and had windows facing over their business. The second time he walked by, he noted the woman looked up from scooping hay to watch him. Her husband barked something at her and she jolted, averting her gaze and getting back to work.
She was pretty in figure but had a plain face. It wasn’t clear what type of fae she was, so that meant there was a good chance she was a mutt or halfbreed of some sort. Certainly too low bred to be capable of magic. That husband of hers was a fearsome orc. Maybe even purebred with the length of those tusks. They were a hideous people with a temper to match their brawn, especially the males. A female orc who had a problem with you was no party either, though. How strange to see such a pure blooded male in this puny, filthy town. Had to be an outlaw or something. Or an opportunist seeking to profit off being the only source of a mount in the area. Erik had the feeling it was the former. His opinion of orcs was not favorable, thanks to the slavers that distracted him from the task of recapturing Meredith.
Erik walked through the barn style door of the stable with his hands in his pockets, stealing glances at the woman when her son and husband weren’t looking. The dark skinned boy, who took after his father more than the mother, announced they’d be with him in a minute. Clearly it wasn’t the woman’s job to handle customers. She looked like she had something to say, so he started the conversation with her anyways. Erik remarked casually on the beauty of the tall, fit black stallion they had. Nervously, she agreed and reached up to place her palm on his nose. The horse had to bend down for her to reach him, but seemed calm with her. Only two horses were kept here in the same double wide stall. Every other spot had weird, lanky otter looking creatures with webbed feet.
“You’re looking at the dire otters. Small, powerful, and capable of pulling cargo in groups,” The orc said, wiping sweat off his pronounced brow with one hand and pushing his tiny wife behind him with the other. She was all but flung towards the back of the shed and did her best not to squeal in surprise when she nearly tripped forward. “Whatcha in the market for, foreigner? Or did you just stop by to chat?” The last comment was spat at him, but he feigned ignorance and stated that he was only curious what types of animals were for sale here. His excuse only earned a grunt and a snort in response. Their boy was watching him like a hawk as well, but the woman’s eyes were turned down as she continued to sweep the same place on the floor, pushing the dirty hay around in a pile. He’d embarrassed her, and that worked to Erik’s advantage perfectly.
Chuuya x Reader no pronouns specified
Summary: Request - reader doesn't like wine nor smoking at all due to their mother and brother being addicts. i was wondering how would chuuya react and maybe an interaction with dazai
Warnings: alcohol, smoking, discussions of self destructive behaviour, mentions of death
WC: 1.5k
Main Masterlist Part 2
"You're not going to drink Y/N?"
"Oh, no. I'm driving,"
“Come on, not even a little shot?”
Your co-worker held a shot towards you. You shifted uncomfortably in your seat. It felt like everyone’s eyes were fixed on you, expecting, waiting for you to take the shot. Dazai scoffed.
“Don’t be such a bore,”
You held your head down, refusing to look up at anyone. An arm reached over your bowed head and returned to its original position. Tentatively, you raised your head to see Chuuya taking the shot for you. He gulped the alcohol down wordlessly.
Once it was down, Chuuya glared at the other person. Too drunk to feel intimidated by Chuuya's hard stare, your co-worker cheered for Chuuya.
You mumbled a thank you to Chuuya. Whether he noticed it or chose not to acknowledge it, you didn't know. There was no change in his glare. A friend was what he was, not a close one, or one you talked to much, but you were glad that he was at least a good enough friend to help you out.
"Y/N got a lighter?"
"Osamu, you know I stay away from that kind of stuff,"
He shrugged.
"Thought you'd have matured by now,"
That hurt.
"If by being mature, you mean engaging in acts that are destructive, then I guess you're right. I'm just so immature to you,"
The rest of the party went by. Osamu kept his distance, opting to hang around the balcony where he smoked and drank to his heart's content.
You noticed how Chuuya was always in the same room as you and was either still glaring at the guy who tried pressuring you or he was intently keeping his eye on you.
With a few farewells to your co-workers, you exited the home, ready to leave for your own.
"Would it be alright for you to drive me home?"
"Oh, Chuuya,"
"Stupid question, sorry. You said you were driving, so you obviously can't drive me,"
"I lied,"
"Oh you did? Well that's great then, here are my car keys, please stop me from driving," He joked.
You smiled tightly and followed Chuuya to his car. Chuuya talked your ear off for most of the walk to his car, but stopped once you started the car.
"Thank you for drinking the alcohol for me. I'm sorry for that,"
"He shouldn't have tried forcing you. You looked uncomfortable so I did what I could to help,"
"You're not going to ask why I looked uncomfortable?"
"No, because that's your business and if you want to tell me you can, but if not, that's completely fine. Besides, I wouldn't want you to lose your focus on the road because you thought of something that you're clearly sensitive about,"
You left it at that, but took a few glances at Chuuya from time to time. Was he always this pretty? Perhaps it was your judgement being affected by his good deed despite his occupation, but you couldn't help but admire his facial features, his clothes, his hair, his-
"Full focus on the road,"
"Right,"
Once you reached Chuuya's house, you parked his car and got ready to get out, but paused when Chuuya unbuckled his seat belt and stayed in his seat.
"You're not going to get out of the car?"
"No. I just want to sit for a while. You should join me,"
"Ok,"
A few minutes passed in silence.
"Osamu is my brother,"
"That jerk's your brother?"
"Yeah, and I'm mad at him,"
"Who isn't mad at him? I noticed how he was acting towards you at the party. Want me to teach him a lesson?"
"No, as much as he deserves some sense knocked into him, I'm more concerned for him,"
"Want to get it off your chest? You've been looking tense since you brought it up,"
You slumped in your seat. Chuuya stared intently at you once again.
"Our mother, as well as smoking frequently ever since we were young, was an alcoholic. Hence my distaste for either of those things,"
You closed your eyes and sighed.
"I avoid them, but I don't judge people who like to drink or smoke. It's fine occasionally, but I saw how it gradually destroyed my mother mentally and physically and I feel like I'm seeing it again with my brother,"
A few tears spilled from your eyes. You wiped at them furiously while Chuuya offered you a tissue. You took it gratefully.
"I'm just tired of it all. He saw how destructive those behaviours were but he's indulging in them just like her and look at her now, she's gone and left us behind. I just can't bear it if I were to lose him too,"
You scrunched your face in an attempt to stop the tears in vain.
"He's been a jerk, but he's still my brother who's cared and provided for me since she passed away when we were teens. I know he's in a terrible place right now. He's in the mafia for Pete's sake! And Oda just died. I just wish he'd care more for himself,"
"I bet he's passed out at the party right now. We could go back and pick him up and we talk to him. You and me, together. You no longer have to hold this weight on your shoulder,"
"Thank you," You whispered, "He probably only drank so much to fill that empty void he's been desperately trying to fill,"
"So why don't you and I find a way to fill it?"
"Let's go,"
"No,"
Chuuya, despite what you told him in the car, chuckled at your predicament. How could he not? There was Dazai, always so stoic, pouting and whining when you tried getting him to leave.
"Osamu,"
"Uh oh Dazai, Y/N pulled out the stern mother voice. Better get yourself up and follow us quietly,"
"Fine,"
You exhaled, relieved when Osamu got up off the floor and slumped into your arms. Chuuya took him from you and carried him back to the car. You took the driver's seat once again and drove to your home.
You parked the car once again and turned to Chuuya.
"Thank you. Again,"
"Like I said, you no longer have to shoulder this on your own,"
"I know, and I'm really grateful for you,"
Chuuya cupped your cheek gently and rubbed away your tear with his thumb. He placed a soft kiss on your forehead as you slowly closed your eyes and savoured his touch.
Osamu gagged from the backseat.
"How much of that did you witness?" You nervously asked.
"Unfortunately all of it,"
"Well why didn't you say something!" Chuuya exclaimed with reddened cheeks.
"Didn't feel like it,"
With a sigh, you got out of the car, the other two following suit. Dazai strode past you, grabbing your arm and leading you inside your house.
"When did you get my ke-"
"Doesn't matter,"
"Well let me drive Chuuya home,"
"He ran out of gas,"
"What? No he didn't,"
He shook his head and poked his head out the door. Some mumbling was heard and Osamu swung the door open for Chuuya to come in. Osamu took you aside as Chuuya stood awkwardly by the door.
"I know what you two are trying to do. Think of this as my apology for my behaviour today. I was a jerk and there's no excuse. I'm sorry. But you should stay by Chuuya's side. He's strong," Dazi exhaled, "And I trust him,"
"What's this about?"
"Just stick to him alright?"
"Ok,"
"I'm going to sleep. I'll talk to you guys in the morning," Osamu announced.
You took a seat at the table. Chuuya took the seat across from you.
"What did my brother say to you?"
"He said that you needed me,"
"Well, his intuition is correct, I need your presence. That moment in the car." You sighed.
"I do care about you, and that moment in the car was me trying to sort out my feelings. And I can say with certainty that i care about you,"
You hadn't meant to, but you had fallen asleep before he was finished. Chuuya sighed, but he couldn't blame you. You had looked exhausted after all.
He carefully carried you to your bed and tucked you in. With another small kiss on your head, Chuuya left and made himself comfortable on the sofa.
He awoke the next morning to see you crying at the table. With no other thought, Chuuya bolted to be by your side. He rubbed circles into your shoulders and simply stood by you until you were ready to talk.
"He's gone. Osamu left,"
You cried even harder.
In between gasps for air, you managed to say, "He texted me at three saying 'We'll meet again one day, but for now stay with Chuuya'. That was all he said,"
Chuuya wrapped his arms around your shaking form.
"I've called and texted his number countless times, but his number no longer exists. I've done everything. I called everyone he knew, but he's just gone. He said. He said he'd talk to us in the morning,"
You moved slightly to look earnestly into Chuuya's eyes.
"Please don't leave me too,"
"I'll always be here for you, even if everyone else leaves, I'll stay right by your side,"
"Thank you,"
"Always,"
Valentines prompt?
Feysands first Valentine’s Day after having nyx?
A/N: I love this prompt! Thank you for sending it in and I hope you enjoy. x
Warnings: none, pure fluff
prompt requests
"Nyx is fine."
"But what if he's not?"
"Then they would've called."
"They haven't called."
"Exactly." Rhysand was trying his best to be patient, but Feyre knew that he was getting annoyed. Being their first date night after having Nyx, Feyre was an absolute mess while Rhysand was the epitome of calm. "We're going out, we look hot, it's Valentine's Day, and we're going to enjoy ourselves, damn it."
With a dramatic sigh, Feyre settled deeper into the passenger seat as Rhysand drove around the parking garage, looking for an open spot. His hand snuck across the center console and took her hand, easing her anxiety, just a smidge.
Yet, when he parked and cut the engine, Feyre didn't move. "I'd feel better if I just called."
Rhysand gave her a look but didn't argue as she took her phone out of her clutch and found Nesta's number.
She didn't answer.
Then she called Cassian.
Who also didn't answer.
When she was just on the verge of panic, her phone vibrated and she slid her finger across the screen as she brought it to her ear. "What the hell?!"
Nesta's calm voice came through the phone. "Aren't you supposed to be enjoying yourself?"
"I told you she wouldn't even last an hour." Cassian's voice came from somewhere in the distance.
Feyre scowled. "I just...wanted to make sure that he had everything he needed."
"You packed enough for him to last the entire weekend and then some." Nesta chuckled. "I know you're worried, and that's perfectly normal, but you know that he's perfectly taken care of. He just ate and fell asleep with Cass in the rocking chair. Yes, he gave us a good burp, and we're about to take him upstairs to change him and get him ready for bed." Feyre opened her mouth to cut in, but Nesta kept going. "If anything goes wrong, I'll call you right away, but it won't. This sweet baby loves his Auntie and Uncle's house."
Feyre knew that. It was the only reason that she even agreed to letting Nyx stay the night there while she and Rhys enjoyed their first date night since the baby had been born, three months before. She was glad Nyx was handling the separation okay, even if Feyre herself was going insane.
"Alright, well, I'll be there no later than nine tomorrow morning," Feyre said, while Rhysand impatiently clicked his tongue.
"I know, you've told me a million times," Nesta said, not unkindly. "Please try to have fun. We have everything under control."
"Okay, okay," Feyre said, throwing open her door, to Rhysand's delight. "Thank you."
After a round of I love you's and farewells, Feyre and Rhysand were walking out of the parking garage and onto the city streets. He took her hand and pulled her close, trying his best to bring her into reality.
"I know it's hard," he said, gently, "and I miss him too, but I'm excited to be here with you. I miss being alone with you."
Feyre missed that, too. It's weird going from a couple to a family of three. One day, all your focus is on each other and the next, every bit of your attention is on someone else, leaving no time to build each other up, to focus on one another's needs.
She stopped and faced him, nearly a block from their restaurant. As his brows furrowed in confusion, Feyre leaned up on her toes and kissed him, slowly. His hands snuck around her waist and he pulled her closer to him, sinking into their kiss. For just a moment, the rest of the world faded away and they were the only two that remained.
Feyre leaned back, just enough to see the mischief in her husband's eyes. "Let's go eat. Get full. A little drunk. Then take me home and maybe you'll get lucky."
A brow quirked. "Maybe?"
"I don't want to seem too forward," she teased.
Rhysand grinned. "Yes, because that would be awful."
With a laugh, feeling much more relaxed, Feyre kissed him again before dragging him down the street to make their reservation.
I keep thinking about For Us. A song he sang in front of moon with Jimin there and then he walks the moon after the performance. He was asking someone to come back to him before he leaves for MS.
Come before it's too late I got things to say before I go There's no time to wait We can hide away Need to let you know that I wish I could stay with you Know that I would wait for you I would give it all up, For Us
He wanted to get things off his chest to Jimin before they enlist. He is telling Jimin they can hide away and he is okay with that, something Jimin probably wants. Tae is a very open person in every aspect even with friends, Jimin is not. So Tae not doing a public send off for Jimin, not enlisting with Jimin. This is their hiding away that Tae promised. This song would not pertain to JK, cause TK were hanging out all the time. There was no distance. It was Vmin hit with divorce allegations. Its about Jimin.
As for Jikook enlisting. I won't make excuses, cause if this was Vmin, I would say its cause they want to be together and not separated as well. Even going in as a couple, Vmin would and could hide it, cause they are professionals. That said, its just hard for me to think about Jikook, ONLY cause of Sweet Night and the best friend lyric. Its what convinced me Vmin are the real thing and I don't think its changed. Although I could be wrong about that too and its just a song.
You are right about this. It certainly adds up. Most of his song lyrics hints at Jimin being his muse. Even in his videos, Jimin is everywhere. Anyway, we aren't concerning ourselves with that at the moment.
Now, Taehyung has no problem saying his mind or doing the things he wants to do. Jimin is the opposite. He is more reserved about the people he knows or are close with, no matter how popular he is. Most people might not know but he's close friends with the actor, Kim sae on from the popular bl series Light on me. The two have been spotted on public outings. They even went on a trip to Jeju island back in 2021. But you won't see Jimin pronouncing their relationship for all to see because he's just not that kind of person. There are things he keeps private and things he keeps public. Take for instance like how Taehyung and Jimin went to see Jungkook recently. Taehyung had switched on the vlive to show him pranking Jk. However Jimin stopped him and even switched off the live himself because he thinks differently. He probably didn't want their raw unscripted moments publicised. I believe his friends and those close to him adjusted to his preference knowing his personality. If you've noticed, they are all relatively calm concerning his enlistment.
Now, it would be exciting as a shipper to think how nice it would be if Taehyung and Jimin had gone to the military together. They would hide it just as they have always done. However, I work with reality. If you have been in a relationship, you'll know how impossible that can be. Even though you try to hide it, your real feelings will always surface. There are no cameras, what they have is CCTV. There are no cropping off or editing of their moments. There is literally no place to hide, there's no home to isolate yourself in.
As for me, Taehyung's fanmeet had all the elements of a good farewell. He literally made Jimin the center of attention that day even though it that wasn't what Jimin had anticipated. He had everyone wish Jimin happy birthday and was all smiles throughout. Anyone with eyes could have easily noticed that was the happiest they had ever seen Taehyung in a long time.
It's always nice if things go our way but there's something real about them which is why it won't. Thank you.
Shield of Camelot
Chapter 3 Elyan
Percival sighed as he sat next to Gwaine’s bed. There’d been little change while they’d been gone. When Arthur and Merlin came in to visit after they got back, it seemed like Gwaine had stirred slightly, but had gone rigid and started to thrash around. Gaius had ordered them to hold him to make sure he didn’t hurt himself and found he had formed a fever since the last time he’d checked a few hours before. Since then Gwaine had been still, only the painfully slow movements of his chest giving away that he was still alive. That had been four days ago, and Percival could tell that he wasn’t the only one anxious about Gwaine. Merlin, Leon, Arthur, and occasionally Elyan would rotate their vigil and care of their friend so each could rest and let Gaius work on other patients when needed.
Gareth had been careful to keep his distance since they’d come back. He’d seemed more distant lately, and Percival still remembered the way he flinched when he’d went to put his hand to his forehead at the lake. It was like the younger knight thought he was going to hit him. Percival shook his head and looked at Gwaine, and put a hand to his head, pleased that the cold cloths seemed to have brought the temperature down a bit. “You’ve got to wake up soon. Please,” he said quietly. He heard the door open and shut and looked up.
Merlin nodded at him. “Anything?” he asked and Percival frowned.
“His temperature’s a good bit lower, but still warm,” he said, meeting Merlin’s eyes.
“Any more thrashing?” Merlin asked.
“None.” Percival answered.
Merlin nodded, looking relieved. “Elyan asked if you’d be up for helping him in the smithy a little bit before resting. Said he needed help with something.”
Percival nodded, it wasn’t often that Elyan asked for help with anything, let alone anything in the smithy. He nodded farewell to Merlin before walking out, knowing Gwaine was in good hands with Merlin.
He soon entered the smithy and found Gareth and Elyan arguing about something with Gwen watching them. She eyed him and nodded to the two, giving a silent order for him to do something. He nodded and approached them. “What’s going on?” he asked, and noticed Gareth seemed to flinch at his tone but turned his full attention towards him.
“Mind your own business,” Gareth growled, whirling on him.
Elyan looked relieved. “Thanks for coming, Percival. Sir Alvor wants me to fit him for some new armor, but he won’t let me touch him to measure him.”
“I see, and you need me to hold him still?” Percival asked curiously.
“See if you can convince him first. Get him to calm down and see we’re not wanting to hurt him,” Elyan said, seeing Gareth had reached for his dagger, ready to fight.
Percival nodded, taking notice as well. He recognized it as a fear response, and possibly a survival response as well. He had to be careful, and he had to handle this as delicately as possible, to avoid further panic from the younger knight. “We only want to measure you,” he said softly.
Gareth promptly pointed his dagger at him, trying to hide his trembling. “You’ll not touch me,” he snarled, backing away, keeping his eyes on both of them.
Percival held up his hands, showing that he wasn’t armed as he and Elyan took a step back, to show that they weren’t a threat, and only wanted to get this over with as quickly as possible. Elyan spoke next. “Lord Alvor only wants us to make you new armor, and we can’t do that, if we don’t know your exact measurements.”
Percival saw Gareth’s eyes narrow, as he tried to maneuver around them, likely intending to bolt as soon as he could. “Gareth, we’re not going to hurt you,” he said softly.
The three kept their eyes locked, as they circled, Elyan and Percival, trying to calm Gareth down, and Gareth firmly avoiding them and keeping his dagger on them. He looked past them after a few minutes of them circling each other. He sheathed his dagger and bolted for Guinevere as Percival and Elyan heard a loud snap and whirled around. They saw one of the smaller vats of molten metal start to fall towards Guinevere and ran towards her as well.
Gareth got to her first and tackled her, shielding her as the vat hit the ground and splattered, missing her but landing on his shirt sleeve, setting it on fire.
Gareth yelled out in pain and Percival flinched, knowing that it had to have hurt as Elyan rolled Gareth to put it out and yelled at Percival to grab the rope that was attached to a giant bucket of water above the smithy. Percival did and pulled with all his strength, sighing in relief as it tipped over and doused them all as well as the fire that was spreading from the molten metal, cooling it to where it started to solidify.
Elyan carefully tore the sleeve off Gareth's arm and cursed as Percival helped Guinevere up. “Are you all right, my lady?” he asked, worried for his queen.
She nodded. “Just shaken. If Gareth hadn’t noticed it starting to fall...” she shivered.
“I’m glad he did.” Elyan dabbed at the burned flesh on Gareth’s arm. The younger knight whimpered before blacking out from the pain. “Percival, can you get him to Gaius’s?” he asked, worried.
Percival nodded and picked up Gareth. “Will you need help cleaning up the mess from what happened?”
Elyan shook his head. “I’m planning on investigating what happened before I do any cleaning. Thankfully today was a slow day, but if that had happened during a busier day or a tournament week...” Percival nodded, understanding exactly what Elyan meant before heading back towards Gaius’s. He couldn’t help but look down at Gareth. He looked even younger than normal, passed out like this. He looked even younger than Mordred had as well, almost like he was still in his early teens.
Percival shook his head, as he doubted he would have been allowed to be knighted if he was that young. Also, with how scared he’d been of being touched, both at the lake and in the smithy, something else was going on. If Gareth wasn’t going to be open about it, Percival would take it up with Arthur. As much as Gareth acted like a jerk most days, Percival couldn’t help but feel a bit protective of him when he looked like this. He shivered, remembering the cry of pain Gareth had let out, knowing Guinevere could have easily been killed.
He shook his head to clear the thoughts that plagued him as he reached the door to Gaius’s place. He opened it and heard Merlin talking to Gwaine, even though Gwaine was still unconscious. “Where’s Gaius?” he asked, scanning the room.
Merlin startled slightly and was about to say something when his eyes fell on Gareth’s arm. “What happened?” he asked, instantly alarmed. He nodded to one of the other beds there while getting some water.
“A vat of molten metal fell. Elyan is investigating it,” Percival said calmly, laying Gareth down.
Merlin nodded, gently cleaning the spot, flinching at how bad the burn was. “He went to visit Arthur. Said he had to check on something. Tell him and Arthur what happened. I’ll hold things down here.”
Percival nodded. “Just know, when he wakes up, he’s extremely against touch.”
Merlin nodded and continued to tend to Gareth as Percival walked out and towards the castle, knowing he had to deliver the message to Arthur as well as tell Gaius of his new patient and what to expect.
I decided to wrote a fic, about the idea i shared with you few weeks ago, where Isabella is forced to have twins after the escape (one boy to replace Ray, the girl to be a perfect sister/mother like her)
The worse? Peter forces her to take care of them for a year, until the moment where they would be send in a orphenage. It's a punishment. He wants her get attached and to suffer. Maybe because he thinks that she is not fully innocent in the escape, maybe because he's just a sadist.
Isabella tries to stay distant. But she can't. She loved all her children, so her owns? she'll be unable to not love them. And during her pregnancy and this first year, she thinks a lot about Ray. Her first pregnancy, baby Ray, little Ray….ect…and realize that she loves him a lot more that she thought, she just couldn't fully admit it before because trauma and fear to get attached to him. now that they are away of each other, she can think about him more and more fondly.
I decided of two things
Ray gaves Isabella a photo of him (he had asked Norman to take it) while saying "here you can have a little memory of me, to remember what you did to your own child!" like the day before his birthday. She had it in her pocket when the fire started so she kept it. With Ray's letter, it's her most precious possession.
When the twins started to talk, after they said "mama" for the first time, she decided to show them the photo of Ray to teach them to say "Ray". Whatever the revolt that she plans (while waiting Emma and the others to come back) is a sucesss or fails, she want the name "Ray" to be their second word. So as soon they see him in the human word, they start to be "Lay, Way!" and he's super confused that these two babies, that he doesn't know, call him by his name XD
I remember the twin thing! Yes! (okay but little side note before I ramble on.. the kids would be gorgeous. I mean, any kid Isabella would have would be lucky since she's stunningly beautiful and we already got Ray as the perfect example of how adorable those kids would look!)
Anyways, you're just giving me reasons to despise Peter more than I already do because that's definitely a cruel trick he would've pulled off. He should've done something like that too, if he was smart, but thank goodness he isn't and believed Isabella would help him with little to no resistance. He really thought it was that easy to pull her in as an ally. What a dummy.
Too bad this woman is a professional at keeping secrets and her emotions on lock. The fool fell for her "woe is me" act hook, line and sinker.
She completely played this boy. She looks all thankful for the second chance at life on the outside but underneath she is seething with rage.
Gonna try to put all my love for this woman aside so I can focus on the rest of this, aahha..
But yeah. No matter how strong her facade is, Isabella cares so much about her children. It evident with all the toys of theirs she kept as mementos in the secret room, even the farewell note of Ray's. Not to say that the love she showed them on a daily basis was a lie, because her feelings were genuine, but there's still a reasonable distance between caretaker and mother that she lives by.
She would absolutely think of Ray again during that next pregnancy, about whether he's doing alright outside the farm, all those years watching over him as a caretaker, the moments she wishes she could act like a mother to him, etc. You're right that she'd think of him more fondly as this would happen post-escape, so she's already given up her facade and accepted her defeat. She's got nothing else to lose at this point. Well, except for the twins now.
You dunno how badly I wished that Isabella had kept the photo that Ray took of her. It might've been a weird thing to grab before the fire happened, especially when she had to prioritize the safety of the other children, but I had hoped the Isabella photo survived somehow if only to show human-world Emma what she looked like. One headcanon I have is that Yvette could always draw a portrait of Isabella so Emma has a face to put to a name, but it wouldn't be quite the same ya know? I'm still surprised Ray's goodbye note managed to survive the fire and I can only suspect that Isabella had the note on her person prior to all the panic since it was the night before/morning of Ray's intended shipment. Perhaps she was feeling nostalgic. Or she just so happened to grab it when she went back inside to retrieve the radio or the blankets for the younger children afterwards. Either way, I still find it sweet she kept something that dear to her.
Going back to the idea of twins though.. OH. Okay, sorry, ignore everything I just said because I originally misread the whole "Ray gave Isabella a photo of him" and not her. MY BAD. Yeah, he could've been that spiteful towards her. I mean, if he was ready to lit himself on fire then one final jab at Isabella would be easy. No doubt the photo would be of him flipping her off though.
With that in mind now, it would've been real cute if she did hold onto a photo of him and show it to the twins (so long as it isn't such a rude photo like the example I gave, wouldn't want the babies to pick up on horrible manners right away pfftt). But to have them both learn his name and recognize him once everyone crosses over in the human world.. awww. That would be so darn sweet! It would confuse him at first yeah, but I'm sure he'll pick up the relation he has with them soon enough, especially if they inherited their mother's good looks. It would be over if the twins also knew the lullaby too. Aahh just imagine!! Ray learning that he had siblings the same way Isabella recognized her own son. Ohh my heart.. I'm weak.
watcher.
i will not write a eulogy.
Not for those who are still alive.
To who this eulogy was intended, I do not know.
Is it for those we lost along the way? The one who needs no introduction, the one who decided to end its own life to the plague? Knowing them, they would not ask for a eulogy. they would prefer not to be remembered. Until this is over, i will respect those wishes.
Is this eulogy for you? You who has lost the ability to resist the plague? You who intends to give up after this is finished, possibly sooner? You do not deserve a eulogy. Not yet.
Or perhaps it is potentially for the plague itself. Quite confident, calling for the plague’s destruction. However, were we to eliminate this plague, would we be no different from the plague itself? they are a sentient creature. perhaps with a multitude of entities within. their actions may be flawed, but they too, do not yet deserve a eulogy.
All of this is to say, I will not write a eulogy. The end is near, but not the end of us. Not the end of you. Not the end of this plague. I believe it can be not just finished, but resolved. There is a purpose. We must find that purpose. The plague is not innocent, but perhaps they are simply misguided.
Sincerely
N
P.S.: i have more Mac and cheese. I will try and get it to you shortly. <3
"FAREWELL." The rowbot poised back up, preparing to disembark and return to the Barrens. "MAY YOUR QUEST BE A SUCCESS."
"A-are you leaving?" The messiah stammered, glancing back.
"I NEED TO GO BACK... FOR WHEN MY ENGINEER NEEDS ME." The latch disengaged, allowing the rowbot to start rowing back across the ocean. Niko set a hand on the concerned messiah's shoulder. "They'll be okay, don't fret."
"But... what if we need to return?" The messiah worried.
"We won't. And if we do, we're not gonna need the rowbot."
The messiah watched as the rowbot turned into a speck in the distance, before reluctantly nodding. "Okay..." They turned away, gazing across the marshy landscape. The Glen was certainly more liv
Jacre's "If You See Her": A Bittersweet Farewell You could say “If You See Her” feels like the moment just before you spill coffee on your favorite book—tense, deeply personal, but somehow inevitable. Jacre, a.k.a Julian Ransom, seems to have the rare ability to drag listeners right to the precipice of emotional chaos, all while cradling us in the soft cello arms of Harley Eblen’s strings. https://open.spotify.com/track/3p6SpVSYdjY6LQR5rOayaZ?si=e3d96638d4ff4d24 This is not a song for the impatient. It lingers, inviting silence to co-star with its cascading piano and Ransom’s voice, which doesn’t so much fly as it hovers—tentative, like it might break at any second. His storytelling smacks you with adult concerns. We're talking about leaving somebody behind, but still loving them fiercely. A slow burn on an empty beach, if said beach is inside your chest cavity. There's no urgency in the melody—just a heavy, deliberate rhythm, cradling heartbreak like it’s not entirely a bad place to be. Let’s talk about the message here. Isn't it odd? Love and distance, care and disappearance—the paradoxes Jacre addresses taste like tomorrow's regrets. How does one reconcile love with leaving? Where does that intense desire for someone’s well-being live when your own heart isn’t in rhythm with theirs anymore? It’s a question sharper than a Shakespearean tragedy but less theatrical, more real-life sledgehammer. [caption id="attachment_56968" align="alignnone" width="2000"] Jacre's "If You See Her": A Bittersweet Farewell[/caption] The production quality, thanks to Dominic Romano, is like finding a snow globe with the perfect amount of gold flecks—it shines, but quietly. Eliott Glinn’s mixing gives air to the piano, and Philip Marsden’s mastering holds everything up just enough so it doesn’t collapse under its own emotional weight. In the end, "If You See Her" feels less like listening and more like eavesdropping on a gentle breakdown. Not everyone will get it, but those who do? Well, good luck looking away. Your diet:
Dry Food
Dry food contains between six and 10 percent water. Depending on the specific formulation, a mixture of ingredients are combined, extruded, and dried into bite-sized pieces. Ingredients include:meat and/or meat byproducts,poultry and/or poultry byproducts,grain and/or grain byproducts,fish meal,fiber sources,milk productsvitamin and mineral supplements.
Have a long cat nap!!!!
When yall get ready to bed he will let you sleep with him!
I think he tosses and turns in his sleep so beware!(´∀`)
The sun had set once more, you were sleeping soft and soundly under the covers that were to big for your small feline body.You thought you should wait for trey,yet after hours of waiting you fell into a deep sleep.The same type deep sleep that one princess had when she pricked her finger on a spinning wheel.But you heard a click,A single click wouldn't wake you up but someone petting your fur would.Opening your eyes ever-so-slightly to see a green haired male smiling at you as if he won the world,he lays down with you slowly falling into slumber soon after.
You would try to keep your distance with him but yall end up smooshed together!♡♡(˶ᵔᴗᵔ˶)
The last meow!!
Sad
He is so upset to see kitty y/n go
Yet he loved human y/n just as much,so Farewells were made that day(.•́ ᎑ •̀.)
…..!.....
"Hm? A tart what for?"
……!!!!......
"As a thank you? Haaa…it's alright let's eat it together shall we?"
ruggie
I know he is not a vice dormleader but at this point he should be💀
When he was running errands for a certain lazy lion he saw a cat eating half a slice of meat.
it was stolen from ace-(〃⌒⤙⌒)ゞ
He was gonna keep walking until the feline put the meat in front of him.
Now he has eaten strange things and flowers but he was not gonna eat a slab of meat that was on the sidewalk. ( •̀ - •́ )”
He tapped you on the head and scratched your ears♡♡♡♡💖💖
Until Ace came running ( T ^ T )
"Y/NNNNNN!!!! GIVE ME THE MONEY FOR THE MEAT YOU TOOK!!!!"
hm..? Y/n Shishishi that's just a cat-
You meow at him again….omg that is y/n?
Lowkey he would have left you because he is a busy hyena, but for the sake of the hc he will take care of you!! (ˊᗜˋ )
Lending a paw!!!
A pro with ruggie is that you get cool things the con is that you have to work with him 24/7 (˵ˊᯅˋ˵)
More like co workers than friends 😒
But!! You do get to snatch a few things off leonas credit cards<3
(Yall can be thieves together)
I may or may not rat yall out 🤫
He would spray you with water if you're bad(.•́ ᎑ •̀.)
Mama ruggie!! (My mum use to spray me with water too^^)
He would give you an old shoe lace to play with!♡
Class time!!!
He wouldn't carry you to class💔
He claims it's because you got paw and they aren't broken so you can walk yourself;;
He would honestly let you do whatever in class but make sure to stay in the classroom!
(He doesn't wanna lose you💚💚)
In the spell drive club he would put you on the disk💀
You probably got trauma after that…
He would apologize though ♡♡♡♡
Dinner time kittys!!!
He would not get cat food for you
He says it costs too much, why need cat food if you can eat the same thing?
I think he ate cat food one time(˶ᵔᴗᵔ˶)
Yall would eat meats so if you ate vegetarian then okay he will give you veggies instead💚💚
But if you're not Vegetarian then it's too bad to eat it, idc that it's fatty meat???EAT THE MEAT Y/N!!!
You eat wherever ruggie eats his dinner
Goodnight little kitty!!!
No
No extra cat beds
Why have another cat bed when you can use his?🤨
-that's not a good excuse-
He sleeps like a rock, so there isn't anyway to wake him up once he's asleep^^
Once yall got on the bed yall the work from today hit in full blast before you knew it you were asleep,Yet you woke up.
The moon was shining gently in the endless sky,the sun was shining elsewhere to bless others with joy.You turn to see a sleepy hyena with dirty blonde hair. He looks so peaceful,as if the thought of not waking tomorrow didn't bother him; you wobble past the sheets and lay against his back,lucky for you ruggie doesn't move much in his sleep.
He would pay you awake the next morning<3
A little kitty turning into a cat!!
He is upset kitty y/n is leaving (ᗒᗣᗕ)՞
(Mostly because he would make you pickpocket students on campus and you helped him take care of leona)
Would ask in you have to become human again
Like???? Yeah I kinda have to😃
After a 30 minute talk (you were just meowing there) He had decided it was for the best!
……........
"Ah there you are prefect!"
…..!.....
"No need to be scared,I'm not rook.Sayyyyy y/n Sam is holding an item for me and I can't pick it up, can you get it for meeeee???"
……?.....??
"You didn't complain when you were a cat😒"
And that's how you were forced to help ruggie run errands every weekend
(´-﹏-`)
Jade
I'm not sure about jade tbh
I would run away from him as soon as i see him( ̄^ ̄;)
Jade was just minding his business (with his shrooms) until an overly happy,chaotic and energetic Floyd came running.
"JADE! LOOK AT SHRIMPY!!!"
He is holding you like simba💀
Shrimpy????
"Shrimpy got turned into a furball today, so I guess shrimpy is more of a cat fish"
Hm…..? This is interesting……
Floyd begs jade if he could keep you but due to jade being a -Sadist- nice person he said yes.
But after 3 hours Floyd got bored
(๑•̀^•́๑)
So jade took the liberty to 'take care of you' because you are his dear pearl ❤❤
A cat meets a fish!!
Honestly whenever you trip on your tail or have a sneezing fit he would laugh at you for awhile
He wouldn't down right say I'm sorry 😪 but he will try to make it up to you 🥰
You also get to be a little money maker🤑🤑 (you are a model for the monstro lounge)
He would give you daily baths❤❤
Class with a cat!!
He lets you sit on his shoulders and if anyone says anything bad about it then let's hope they got medical bills!(๑•̀᎑<๑) if you catch my drift
Going to class with him is????
Like he would let you sit on his lap but after 10 minutes you are suddenly on the table(・・ ) ?
You do have homework from him tho(ᗒᗣᗕ)՞
When he takes you to the mountain lovers club he WILL rant!!!❤❤♡
He will feed you mushrooms
(Beware of the ones that look weird because he would use you as a test subject)
Also mushroom homework on this club too!
A fish filled dinner!!
He would feed you anything?
(Like i said earlier make sure there isn't any strange mushrooms)
He would make you eat on the floor💔💔💔
If he does give you cat food he would give you the rich ppl kind♡
A Midnight sea!!
When the sun fell asleep and the sky changed color, you were watching jade do his work.The smell of salt lingers in your fur after your quote-on-quote bath Floyd gave you(Spoiler he dumped you in the pool). Jade laughed about it until you kept meowing and shivering,he dried you off and sat you on the cat bed he bought for you.You remember when he would scratched your ears every so often, no longer after 30 minutes jade finally sat on his bed.He laid down and closed his eyes,not long you hopped on his torso and made yourself comfortable, lulling yourself to a deep sleep.
Jade was still awake btw(˶ᵔᴗᵔ˶) ☆
You also owe Ace 10 mandol cause yall had bet that the twins don't sleep. (๑•́ ᎔ •̀๑)
A rusty pearl!!
Upset
Jade is sad that he won't have anyone to experiment his mushroom recipes with
(So promise to try some every now and then okay^^)
When you turn back he would tease you
A Sadist
…..!...
"My,prefect it was quite funny how you fell over your own tail!"
…….×,+*@;!,+,!....🤬🤬🤬
"Now now no need to make a big fuss. How about I treat you to a new mushroom recipe I've made?"
Jamil
When Kalim brought a cat to the dorm he was just gonna throw you out💀
That was before Kamil started crying babbling about how he is sorry that he turned you into a cat 😼
*loading………error screen*
"Kalim, why do you have a cat"🧍
"Y/n turned into a cat *sniffle* and it was my fault *sniff* and and I want to take care of them so crewel can turn them back"
He knows dang well Kalim won't take care of you
He would try and fail so Jamil did the most reasonable thing
"I'll take care of y/n"
"Really jamil!!!"
It would lowkey be funny if Jamil just said no💀💀
"Yes Kalim"
And that is how Jamil is now taking care of you!
His first task is to get you someplace where you can't cause trouble.
The new roomie!!!
He kept you on his room💀💀💀
You hopped on his desk with a mission in mind!😤😤😤
Crash!
You would knock things off Jamil's desk out of spite
The floor was too dry 🙄
He would just clean it up and keep you in there for like 10 minutes
He comes back in to take you to class and look at that,you are…
Sleeping….? You're Not causing havoc???
Jamil rn:(・・ ) …?
Wakes you up
If you're bad then hope you like water cause you would get sprayed with a spray bottle filled with water.
He would probably smack your head if you're bad😗😗
A paw-some class!!!
He would carry you in his bag<33
He would let you play with a spare basketball when he goes to practice♡
Lmfao imagine if you go into the gym and all you see is a cat trying to fight a ball and losing 💀💀💀💀
When he takes you to class he would set you on the floor🥲
And forces you to learn 😭😭
A feast fit for a cat!!!
Would make sure Kalim doesn't feed you manakeesh,Asida/ Aseeda and Martabak.
He would cook cat food for you
(Is that a real thing idk)
You eat with them -thx kalim-
A lil cat nap!!
He wouldn't buy a cat bed But Kalim does buy you one
When you settle down, it feels wrong….
Jamil is at his desk doing homework
Hmmmmmm..
Your waiting as the viper finishes his work from class,a small feline body like yours couldn't keep up with the energy you lost amongst the day.So without noticing it you fell asleep, when you fell asleep the sun was still out;but when you woken up the sun had already bid its farewells to the dorm representing the scalding sands.You turn to find the boy you adore fast asleep…..hmm..
When Jamil finally went to bed you hopped up with him!!♡♡
-He was still awake;;-
You would keep Jamil from overworking himself 💜💜
The last purr!!
When kitty y/n has to go he feels happy?
He is happy he won't have to deal with cat y/n😭
(But a bit sad that he won't have a excuse to be with you no more lol)
I mean no Jamil would never be sad because of that 😅😅
"Huh prefect? No…it's because you were turned into a cat. I just want to make sure it won't have any side effects."
…..???......
"No I could care less about your problems, I just don't want it to affect Kalim and me that's all."
He's a lil awkward sometimes 😬😬
Rook
Rook was just stalking others like how he does everyday.
While he was watching Leona he spotted a kitten hop over the window he was spying from("'•̥ ˕ •̥)
Aww mignon! [Cute]
He fr snatched you 💛💛💛
He takes you to pomefiore, oh look at that epel having a panic attack let's see why^^
"ROOK ROOK!!!! HAVE YOU SEEN Y/N!?!"
Hm…?
"Non I havent seen trickster all day?"
"NO ROOK NOT THE HUMAN, THEY ARE A CAT AND I CANT-"
Suddenly you just meow
[Translation: imm gonna kill you once I back to normal felmier]
"Y/n!"
Someone get epel off you, youre gonna get smushed(๑•̀_•́๑)💢💢
Rook our savior!!
"Hm? monsieur crabapple? What do you mean y/n?
"Hm??? Oh y/n turned into a cat earlier in alchemy, that reminds me Rook can you-"
"OUI!!!! ILL TAKE CARE OF TRICKSTER FOR YOU!"😤😤😤
That's not what epel was gonna ask but okay
How to hunt a cat!!
You were not happy
-Yes you were don't lie-
Rook you make you help him hunt
He would also make you have a fur trim due to vils request
Vil was not happy to hear you and your cat self would be in his dorm til you go back to normal💔💔
Having fur everywhere, he fr just insulted you.😧😧
Rook just takes you away 💛💛💛
Now let's see how good of a caretaker he is(๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)
Bow classes with a lil kitty!!
Rook will carry you to class♡♡♡
He also takes liberty to give you little shoes so when you want to get down you won't get your paw dirty💛
You will be forced to learn though (ˊ^ˋ; )
When he takes you tothe science club he would dress you up
Sjkqnamqnq and wittle goggles too<33333
But make sure to stay away from rooks bot, we don't want him exploding you^^
He will also teach you to hunt ♡♡
A nutrient filled diet!!
You will be on a diet sadly
Your diets will be fat free and a toning diet -but epel will be a real one and give you meats and snacks you like rooks notices but wont say anything-
He will make sure you eat enough💛💛
If you are still hungry you will get more♡
Oh you also eat on the floor
Midnight man!!
He does buy you a premium cat bed But you won't use it.
When the moon comes to say hello, you are sleeping soundly In your covers.A hunter watches as your stomach rises and falls over again, occasionally your paw twitching when having a nightmare.Rook would pet your fur every so often, to calm you down from those nightmares, whispering little nothings as he pets you ever so softly.Rook finds himself slowly falling asleep,he carefully picks you up and holds you against his chest as he opens his covers,slowly crawling in the covers with you in his hold.
Setting you down softly with him,he watches as you curl up to him slowly purring.Before Rook know it he himself was also sleeping.
He would switch to sleeping on his back and his side but he makes sure to move you to the side when he wants to change his position💛💛
A farewell from the stage!!
Nooonnnnn 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
He is so downcast
He wanted you to be a kitty a little longer,but he digresses
He loves his dear trickster so much more,but he will be wanted to make you a cat for awhile(๑•́ ₃ •̀๑)
"Ah trickster!"
….!.....
"Hehe apologize for scaring you mon cher amant!" [My dear lover]
….??....
"Ah I came to say I've found a way to make you a le chat!, temporarily ofcourse!
….!?
Lilia
He was just minding his own business and saw a cute little kitty cold and alone
(You were not, Lilia watched Ace and deuce leave you to get food for yall)
Lilia knows its you
He left a note talking about how he will take care of you while they find a way to cure you
He bring you to Diasomnia and mallues is upset his child of a man/bestie is now a cat(˃̣̣̥ᴖ˂̣̣̥)
SOMEONE GIVE THIS MAN A HUG!!!!
Lilia and you comfort him🧡
Hide in seek with a bat!!
Lilia is probably one of the worst people to take care of you.
It's because he is always running off
But if anyone and I mean anyone touches you and you don't like it, he will hurt them so badly that they won't see the light of day for the rest of their pathetic lives.
He will bring you objects and flowers
How to teach a cat to fly!!
He will hold you like a baby to class
you don't like it-
will set you on the table
He won't make you learn but if you do want to he won't stop you
Holds your paw up instead of his hand🧡🧡🧡🧡
When he takes you to the music club you are treated like royalty, kalim and Cater is fussing over You so much.Lilia had made you a spot in the room, you got your own director chair🧡🧡 („• ֊ •„)੭
A horrid meal!!
You died
That's all
He tries to make you food
Why spend money on cat food when he can give you his gourmet cooking???
Silver saved you and got you cat food♡♡♡
You will eat at the table no objections😤😤
A sleepy kitty!!
He will stay up most of the night so you sleep before him
When your feel your eyes droop, you let out a meow.Lilia looks at you as he smiles he takes you off his lap and sets you on the bed.Going back to the game he was playing,You meow again.He looks at you and asks what's wrong having another meow as a reply, he sits beside you and pets you slowly lulling you into a deep slumber.What Lilia failed to notice was how you clinged on his pants leg,having no choice but to fall alseep with you.
He sleeps like a twig💀
The hellos and goodbyes!!
He is a tad bit upset you have to go,but happy at the same time!
You will return to normal and yall can do things a cat can't do! (Don't take this out of context👿)
And plus mallues is happy too!!
Once you turned back to normal you notice little things on your desk
The very same type of things Lilia gave you as a cat…
......!.......
"Hm oh hello y/n."
……!?!?!??!......😠
"What did you not like that cat collar with your name on it? Was it the color?"
!!!!!!
He likes teasing you♡
