Okay,

I don't think we, Haladriels, discuss this moment nearly as much as we should.

When Sauron pulls Galadriel into his illusion, he disguises himself as her brother Finrod.

Just look at this! When he started it, he really thought he had a chance of convincing her and pulling her to his side. But she didn't buy his theater performance, and, as she slowly stood up and walked away, it probably felt for him as if a handful of sand was seeping through his fingers, as that chance was withering away inevitably.

He lost his temper completely.

Her back was turned on him, so she couldn't see him, but we, the audience, did. He was calling for her desperately, his eyes darting around, he breathes heavily, he didn't know what to do here. He, the control freak himself™, had zero control over the situation.

He needed her next to him so much but he couldn't bring her there. So in his extreme desperation he shouts "Look at me!", and that moment was so intense for both of them that in transition to the next illusion Galadriel lost her balance and leaned forward (I think both because of sudden change of location to water terrain and the scream).

Wow. I mean, just wow.

(a little clarification: by "he needed her next to him so much" I mean at all times, not just in that moment)

by immortalizing him in a Legend that would rival any of the fair tales of the Elves, he brings Thorin to life again and again and again, whenever he tells the story of Thorin Oakenshield and his Company, saviors of Erebor. Thorin, his friend, doomed by the same dark magick that lurked in the Ring inside his pocket. Thorin who threw off the crown of Thror and instead reached for Bilbo's hand as he died.

the King Under the Mountain who defeated Smaug and Morgoth's accursed gold within the mental labyrinth of heady greed which burned in his mind from a life of poverty and ostracization, and the horrors of being a refugee. the darkest evils meant to corrupt and damn good hearts.

Thorin, who achieved more, who knew more in those fleeting cold moments of his death than most rulers can ever hope to glean from vast fortunes and countless years

You're going to live, it becomes a threat and a curse to the gods, because if Bilbo can't have him then Death can't either, he thinks while scribbling and scribbling.

and so this is how Thorin Oakenshield passes into legend - by the hand of the hobbit he gripped in preference to gold.

The two discourses, Galadriel's desire for power connected to Sauron and Sauron giving Galadriel powers/making her more powerful, are the classical examples of fanon/headcanons that somehow (and for reasons I will never understand) have become so popular that they are treated as canon by some fans.

But they're not. Galadriel is her own character. She was ambitious before meeting Halbrand, and she is/will still be ambitious after Sauron. She is powerful on her own.

I'd add others, like the mind space or Elrond in the tent is Sauron.
