Some board games are described as being "mean" because the rules are such that u just aren't playing right if you're not ruthlessly beating someone while they're down, but like, the meanest possible board games are the ones where u have the capacity to be mean, and yet it's still a calculated risk you need to take into consideration. The simplest game that does this is Azul, the original one. Especially in a 2 player game you can identify weaknesses in your opponent's "build" and hatedraft for the purpose of screwing them over, but your own situation could be just as precarious. In this way, when someone's mean to you in Azul you know it's personal, and that's sweet.

Draft Weekend was fun

I ended up playing a janky U/R raid deck and hatedrafted a Regisaur Alpha. I managed to flip Vance's Blasting Cannons by countering one of my own combat tricks with a Spell Swindle which was so incredibly satisfying that I didn't even care how the rest of the event went. Somehow I still managed to make 4th and get a pack that had a Primal Amulet in it so I think it went a lot better than expected. 8.5/10 pretty fun event.
