bad sign about CCverse Steve that I, a known Steve girl, have literally no thoughts on him as a character. like...none.

man I love watching halo lore videos talking about the differences between bungie canon and 343 canon because it adds a completely new layer of understanding to rvb.
for example; in bungie's halo an ai experiencing rampancy is an ai realizing its sentience and gaining true freewill—aka, they become human.
in 343 canon this is obviously not the case, and an ai experiencing rampancy is degrading into non functionality rather than transcending from the limitations of their original programming.
both forms of rampancy involve the ai "going crazy", but it's so interesting to see how these lore changes are reflected towards the ai's in rvb. with burnie and matt returning I wonder if epsilon's rampancy is going to reflect bungie's lore instead of 343's, and if his degradation in function will instead be attributed to the fact that he's always been an unstable ai fragment whose functionality has always been questionable?

I don’t think I realised until recently how many ppl suffered from this perversity of thought. It is quite unsettling! “The goal is to have everyone just comfortable enough they’re not entitled to complain, so that they can then competitively struggle for domination in the spheres we have deemed beyond the bare necessities of human life!”
If we reached the end of history and it was this stamping on our faces forever guaranteed I think I’d kill my self

It's so funny (derogatory) that fans apparently had a problem with Six choking Peri because he was in a post regeneration confusion and thought she was a spy sent to kill him but were completely cool with the show rebooting like "Oh btw the Doctor committed genocide off screen. Aren't we so morally complex and #deep?" Like buddy, one of these things is far worse and more out of character than the other and it's not the first one.

Once again thinking about how Wyll lost his eye while fighting the cultist at 17 and tried to tell his father what happened, taking him to where the battle was, only for it to look like nothing happened.
But he lost his eye, clearly something happened.
And Ulder could only see that his child made a pact with a devil and banished him from the city he sacrificed his eye for.

given my newly acquired knowledge that you used to be called mclarenhateblog (i've only seen your danthropologie era) i wanna know your thoughts on the few "hear me out" posts about zak brown i've seen recently. for me it's so not about the looks with him, it's that his whole being screams "smarmy" and also he's so aggressively american (coming from an american)
my feelings are as follows:

Brutalism is the rhinoceros of architectural conservation: Grey, immensely squat and heavy, will absolutely crush you to death at the smallest possible provocation, and although you are in some sense glad this style evolved and has a niche, and would like it preserved in what's left of its habitat, you don't particularly want to encounter one on your commute.

Shifting topic entirely: I really don't like Jesus mythicism. Somehow I think its popularity among a certain type of atheist is indicative of all the worst tendencies of internet "intellectuals": the insight porn, style-over-substance type of thinking, the aesthetics-of-science-and-skepticism-disguised-as-rationality type of thinking, the disinterest in specific facts in favor of general "take aways". Jesus mythicism might be true, you know, I don't know that Jesus existed. But I don't think it's the most parsimonious explanation, and the majority of secular scholars of early Christianity reject it. It is subversive sounding and skepticism-inflected but without substance! It is prime "I didn't really look into this, but it sounds true" fodder for Science Enjoyers. An expression of credulity towards claims that are favorable to one's worldview by precisely the people whose worldview is all about not falling for that shit!

in 'a remedy to cure all ills', morgana is on deaths door and gaius refuses to let merlin use magic to heal her ("remember what happened with gwens father?" as if this isnt a completely different situation!!) but when edwin tries to kill uther he convinces merlin to use his magic to heal him. "if you dont, he will die" - but when it was morgana? well. i suppose hiding her increasing nightmares was becoming quite difficult

my enduring hatred for the Captain Carter universe is partially based on the fact that it's really, really clear that when constructing it no one actually thought about how much of the mainline MCU is based on events that happened in CATFA (or are otherwise connected to elements of CATFA) and would not occur if literally anything in CATFA changed.

> It’s nonsensical to speak about preserving the freedom of a psychotic person! A psychotic person cannot be free because psychosis obliterates true freedom through the imposition of delusion and hallucination. […] This destroys every argument about personal freedom and choice, permanently and totally.
This is like a passage ripped from a monologue from the fascist villain of some dystopian horror story. “There is no need to preserve the freedom of the [neologistic slur for fictional underclass demographic], bc in their debasement they have no freedom to preserve in the first place.” Aristotle holding forth on the fitting position of natural slaves isn’t this blunt.
I don’t really think it’s dignified to respond to this sort of statement. Once you’ve blinded yourself this totally to the natural human desire not to writhe in restless agony or lose your power of abstract thought or be restricted to life in a cage imo you’ve more or less outed yourself as an enemy of all ppl of good will; “he shows a corrupt mind.” All that’s fitting is to point and mock
