. ★⋆. ࿐࿔ mma fighter! rindou is untouchable.
cw: graphic depictions of violence. blood.
Tumblr media
rindou doesn’t believe in luck.
luck is for people who rely on chance; success is for those who work for it. it's a belief that's held up his entire life.
at least, until you came along.
in the two years that you've been together, he's yet to lose a single fight. every opponent, no matter how skilled, has ended up tasting the mat by the end of the match— and it’s all because of you.
your unwavering support gives him a sense of focus, a clarity he didn’t know he was missing. with you, there’s no room for doubt. just raw determination, steady resolve, and a fire that fuels him in the ring, making him even more ruthless than before.
bouncing on the balls of his feet, rindou's gaze is sharp as he sizes up his opponent. the guy has some height on him, an advantage he probably thinks he can use to keep rindou at bay.
but rindou can read him like a book: the stiffness in his stance, the subtle hesitation in his footwork, the way his shoulders bunch just a little too much before each movement. he may think he’s slick, but he's broadcasting his intentions before he even acts.
out of habit, his eyes flicker to you in the crowd. you're sitting in the front row, dressed in a little black number that hugs your figure just right, your eyes locked on him as you chew on your bottom lip.
that brief moment of distraction costs him.
his opponent lunges forward, landing a heavy blow to his jaw that rattles his teeth and sends his mouthguard flying. it snaps his head back, and his vision flashes white as the metallic taste of blood hits his tongue.
spitting it out onto the floor, rindou only grins. “alright,” he mutters, wiping crimson from his lips. “my turn.”
rindou surges forward, closing the distance between them in a heartbeat. with a feint to his left, he draws his opponent in and delivers a brutal right hook to his ribs. the guy stumbles, gasping for air, and rindou follows up with a low kick, knocking his balance clean out from under him. the man manages a desperate swing, but it’s clumsy— futile, really— and rindou ducks, slipping beneath the punch with ease.
there’s a rhythm now, a punishing pace that rindou sets as he doles out a series of precise strikes. he opens with a sharp jab to the jaw, one that rocks his opponent’s head back, causing him to lower his guard. it leaves him wide open, and without hesitation, rindou lands a crushing uppercut to his chin to disorient him even further. the guy staggers back, his eyes unfocused, but rindou doesn’t let up.
he presses forward, driving his knee up into his stomach with enough force that he hears a wheeze before the man doubles over, swaying slightly. somehow, he manages to stay standing, and lavender eyes narrow as rindou calculates the end.
planting his feet on the ground, corded muscles ripple beneath inked skin as he pivots his body, swinging his leg up in a roundhouse kick that connects squarely against his opponent's temple. the impact is immediate, a definitive crack that sends his head whipping sideways before he crumples, unconscious before he even hits the mat.
rindou stands over him for a moment, rolling his shoulders back as he spits out another mouthful of blood. he hears the referee blow a whistle, calling the match, and he turns back to the crowd, his gaze landing back on you as he raises his fist in the air.
a smirk tugs at his lips when he sees you jump out of your seat, clapping and hollering along with everyone else. your smile is radiant, brimming with pride and admiration, and that alone makes everything worth it.
“i’ll need a reward for that one, yeah?” he calls out to you, his voice carrying over the cheers of the crowd. your cheeks tint an endearing shade of pink, and his smirk stretches wider as he strides out of the ring. “i’ll be waiting for it in the locker room.”
no, there’s no such thing as luck— but with you by his side, rindou doesn’t need it.

How would yandere La Squadra go about their darling being extremely paranoid... maybe even an abduction survivor? Like, they won't drink or eat anything that's not sealed or prepared by them, they won't go anywhere without telling a loved one or friend where they are and where they're going. They only use their own car or commute with ppl they are close with, their door has several locks and bolts, the windows have special locks and they have a hidden weapon on their body and know how to use it.
I apologize for the long wait!
Sorbet and Gelato don’t care. Gelato is audacious enough to keep testing your boundaries by inserting himself into your life as mere coincidences. Sorbet is the only one keeping you safe, in a strange way. He constantly has to talk Gelato down with kisses and promises of taking you soon. Even if you pulled a weapon on them, there’s two of them. Your odds wouldn’t even be that great with just one of them pursuing you. The only problem is orchestrating the whole ordeal just right. With the constant paper trail you left, it would be difficult to just snatch you up and make you disappear off the face of the earth so suddenly. They have to strike in the golden hour, which, much to Gelato’s displeasure, means they have to leave you alone. When you stop frantically updating your friends and family, Gelato kicks in your door and Sorbet restrains you. Of course, when you wake up in an unfamiliar place with two men sandwiching you, the carefully crafted walls you put up to protect yourself from your past abduction come crumbling down. Gelato feels the tiniest bit remorseful and tries to kiss it better, but nothing works and they end up having to knock you out. Sorbet scolds Gelato for his hastiness while they cuddle on the chair across from the bed where your sleeping body whimpered and twitched. It would take some time to help you rebuild from your trauma, but the Milk and Milkless Dessert couple weren’t known for giving up easily.
Risotto is the same way. It’s part of the reason he was drawn to you. After researching about a hit and discovering they had kidnapped and held someone for ransom unsuccessfully, he felt it necessary to check in on the victim to see if there were any connections between them and Passione. More accurately, to see if the victim would cause any problems for Passione. When he first seeks you out, he’s not surprised about your demeanor. But something about your mouselike timidness drew him in. He knows he has to measure his steps carefully if he wants to get close. There’s a lot of methodical planning involved to make sure he doesn’t accidentally scare you off. He attempts to insert himself in your life subtly, appearing in places you go but not engaging you. When he was finally bold enough to seek you out in your own home, he finally saw the extent of your trauma. Metallica made it easy to bypass the many locks on the door, but it was a chore to do. Finding you waiting behind the door with a gun drawn was certainly a surprise, though. Seeing your perpetual eyebags and frowning features so frightened made his heart ache. It’s too bad you were close enough for Metallica to work. He’s positive you would’ve put up a good fight. But for now he’s focused on getting you tucked in. There was no reason to whisk you away when it was clear you were smart enough to be scared of the world outside.
Ghiaccio always has to be in the right, no matter the situation. He doesn’t care that you have trauma that makes your day to day hell or that his constant presence makes you wary and weary. His needs and desires come first at the cost of your comfort. He only compromises on his yelling when he notices he makes you flinch. Other than that, he’ll pester you nonstop. It’s a mystery how he is always where you are without fail. At a certain point, you refuse to leave your home because of it. Ghiaccio isn’t understanding of this and nearly breaks down your door and sends you into a panic attack. Seeing you scream and shield yourself with your arms makes him hesitate. What breaks him is when you plead for him to leave you alone and to not hurt you. It’s a rare moment of clarity in his obsession addled mind and he tries his best to calm you down, even though his touch makes you flinch away. In the middle of his attempt to soothe you, he ends up covering you in frost. The effects of White Album make your reactions sluggish and weak, but you have plenty of time to consider how you got here as he hefts you over his shoulder and buckles you into the passenger’s seat, wrapping the seatbelt around you several times.
Melone honestly has an Obsession of the Week™️, which more than half the time is just for scientific purposes. He likes to psychoanalyze random people he sees, just for funsies. You, on the other hand, were far too interesting to just dissect mentally and move on. He tuned in when you asked for a drink that was from an unopened case of products, and his interest only heightened when he saw you take a very calculated path through the lounge area. He noted you made sure to move in the blind spots of the windows and cameras before nestling safely in a corner where you could see the whole room, all the while peeking over your shoulder. At first, he thought OCD or some other disorder. It made sense, but he watched you timidly flick your eyes around as you uncapped your drink , sniffed it, and took a tentative sip. Melone is already mentally logging this information, creating trials and assessing variables as you sip away at your beverage. Of course when he went to pursue you after you left, he didn’t expect for you to pull a knife on him and threaten him with wide eyes to stay away. The reasons you gave were conjecture, though. He could see that you weren’t quite sure of your choice to confront him, the minuscule shaking of your hand only proving it. It’s laughably easy for him to disarm you, even if his thievery skills have gotten rusty from his transition from petty thief into assassin. After his civil approach, by his own standards, you're toted off to a nearby safe house where he could keep you while he arranges for your accommodations elsewhere.
This is a problem for Prosciutto. He and Formaggio are the most social creatures of La Squadra (Melone is well… social in a different way). Prosciutto loves to be seen. He likes going to the opera, to have someone on his arm dressed almost as finely as he was, to go to art auctions, to go out to a restaurant where the prices were high and the portions low. So your paranoid personality, while understandable, poses a problem for the fantasy he made within five minutes of seeing you shuffle around the market in what he would describe as “bum clothes” (aka sweatpants and a baggy shirt). He notes that every step you take is deliberate, every move calculated and determined beforehand. With his years of stealth training, he trails you for a while to fully observe you. One thing that stuck out to him was that you were always in public places, among crowds with just enough people that you would be missed if you were swept off your feet by a dashing blond in a finely pressed suit. Prosciutto is a fixer. He lives to nitpick and improve and fix everyone he cares for, and you are no different. Soon you’ll find yourself in the company of the handsome blond you’ve seen around town, whether you like it or not. He takes it upon himself to interject and speak over you when it comes to certain things, stating how you should’ve handled a situation. Your paranoia is soon taken advantage of, with Prosciutto feeding into it by isolating you and forcing you to depend on him. Not that he minds. He loves to help people improve. On his terms, of course.
Illuso takes it as a challenge. He’s very reserved as well, and when he observed you for his own interest, it was kismet. Illuso is great at playing the long game and letting his opponent’s psyche get the best of them. With your ‘weakened’ mind, he could play around with you as much as he liked. Tapping on your (barred)window, the mirror, moving stuff. Your own personal curator of hell. He never once feels bad, but he wondered why he didn’t stop playing poltergeist after his usual week or so. Soon he found himself just…staring at your permanently furrowed brow and frowning lips. Maybe if he isolated you in a place where he knew there wouldn’t be anyone, he could get something out of you? Secretly pulls you into the mirror world and observes you. He lets you sit in the comfort of assured solitude before making his grand entrance. Of course he didn’t expect to get punched in the gut and to have a knife pulled on him. He might boast that Man in the Mirror is the strongest stand, but stands are pretty much useless when you’re taken by surprise by someone you underestimated. For a moment, he can’t decide if this makes him like you a lot more, or if you deserve a kick to the gut. Maybe both.
Formaggio firmly believes in the ideology of “take no shit, give no fucks”. He may be social, but he’s not exactly socially intelligent. Case in point, he didn’t understand that his social butterfly-ness might be a huge turn off for some people. So he’s pretty much at a loss for what to do. His previous flings loved it, but you, well, you wanted nothing to do with him in any capacity. Formaggio was supposed to have been scouting his hit, but he was mostly checking out the Milfs, Dilfs, and Pilfs (parent) that passed. And when his gaze finally fell on you, sitting by yourself, he had to swoop in. Similar to how he reacts to Narancia, he’s very affable when you pull your weapon on him and threaten him with very serious eyes, even joking with you playfully when you ask him what he thinks he’s doing. I love him dearly, but Formaggio is a dumb man. He can’t read social cues and probably just thinks you’re playing hard to get when in reality you have trauma. But since he hides all his trauma and self hatred behind jokes, it takes him a while to fully realize that you’re broken. And what do you do with broken things? Why, stick them in a doll house and provide for them, of course!

Hiro is here!! We've all been waiting for him!!
You know the drill by now, all the yummy details about his background are under the cut ;) Also be warned it is VERY long I went a little feral writing his backstory lmao
Hiro
Age: 17
Hair color: Orange
Eye color: Pink
Element: Psychic & Forest
Okay so a lot of this is gonna be stuff I'm pulling from posts I've already written to make it easier on myself and so I don't have to repeat anything.
Before he was born, the Novune Forces approached Hiro's parents because they knew that he would be born as a dual elemental. Part of their goal was to raise several dual type children to become human weapons--they targeted dual type babies specifically because they're said to be more powerful since they can use more than one elemental type.
It was the perfect opportunity for Hiro's parents because at the time they were not ready for a child despite agreeing that they were going to have it. Ofc the Forces did not reveal their plans so to them it turned into a nice surrogate parent situation where Hiro's mother would give birth to him and he'd immediately be given up for adoption afterwards. It was definitely hard for them to part with him but they trusted he'd be in good care. Well. That turned out great, as you can probably tell :')
Hiro, along with Kaz and Mallary, became the Forces' iconic trio, with Hiro considered to be the golden child and the most dangerous between the three of them because of his high intellect and skill in combat. He grew up under a very strict regimen and would spend hours each day dedicated to training both his mind and his elemental powers. He's an extremely gifted psychic elemental and took to his abilities almost immediately--he’s able to read his opponents movements and set up traps before they can even get to him. He’s usually airborne for most battles he’s in; he finds it easier to strategize from a higher vantage point, and he also just likes to float around and dodge enemy attacks and act like an ass lmao. He’s a pro at immobilizing his enemies so they can no longer move, ending his battles swiftly and cleanly. Physically he’s not very powerful so he uses a magic staff to fight. His intelligence more than makes up for his lack of super strength!
He has a special power like Kaz’s extra dragon typing (and, like Kaz, he has a streak in his hair from the experimentation)—Hiro gets visions of death, basically predictions of the future, and his visions are never wrong. He’s able to see who dies in battle and the Forces use this to their advantage so that they can prepare around any casualties. Hiro hates getting these visions because he doesn’t like seeing people die, he witnesses their last moments and it’s certainly traumatizing for him;; and like Kaz, this power was something he only unlocked through lots of experimentation on him, so he usually passes out for hours after getting a vision since it’s not a “natural” ability he was born with.
As for his second typing, it was something he never really clicked with. Forest elementals have to be very attuned to nature and are generally more kindhearted and gentle people, but since Hiro grew up in a base with only limited access to the outside (and because he’s forced into acting as an antagonist), his forest elemental powers were repressed over the years. He’s already powerful enough as a psychic elemental so he doesn’t feel the need to resort to a second power, especially since his superiors viewed his second typing as useless and he never received proper training on how to use it. He's already a huge threat as he is so they said good enough. The Forces believe that if something is useless, throw it away, so they eventually abandoned any hope of him succeeding in bettering his forest powers, and focused solely on enhancing his psychic abilities and making his death visions clearer.
Before Hiro became the cold-hearted and snarky colonel that the Forces know him as, he was actually a very kind child with an aversion to violence, and cried often. That got forced out of him pretty quickly though--he learned right away that disobedience means punishment and the only way to pay for his mistakes is by verbal and physical abuse. Poor baby :'( He and Kaz and Mallary go through a LOT of unfair shit as kids. The event that really drove home his intense determination and flawless record was the first mission he was ever sent out on.
This happened when he was around 13. Usually members of the Forces don't get to go out on solo missions unless they have a high position or are old enough to, but he was the exception because of his talent and because it was an experiment to see if he could handle it. His mission was to infiltrate a small, family run guild and basically gather intel and find out what their agenda was, as there were rumors they knew of some of the Forces’ plans. Upon Hiro’s arrival to the town where the guild was situated, he ends up rescuing the Guildmaster’s daughter, Lorelai, who is around his age. Unknowingly, he triggered his forest elemental powers, which caused them to land in a field of flowers he’d bloomed. Because of this, Lorelai starts to call him Flower, since he couldn’t come up with a codename in time and he doesn’t have a real name anyway lol
A couple weeks pass and Hiro spends more and more time with the guild, growing closer to Lorelai and being lulled into a false sense of security. He becomes extremely jealous of how the guild lives, and is very emotional at how much of a family they are, and how sweetly they treat him. Hiro starts to ponder over whether or not he should be sneaking around behind their back, when one day the guild is attacked while he’s out. When he returns, the village is set ablaze, and when Hiro demands what’s going on, his superior informs him that he was merely a decoy to get their defenses down, since apparently the Forces had definitive proof that they knew of their plans. His superior orders Hiro to search the village and kill anybody who was left.
Hiro, panicked, searches for Lorelai, and finds her hiding in the forest nearby. He apologizes to her and has a mental breakdown, blaming himself for all of her misfortune. Lorelai realizes that he’s being kept in the Forces against his will and begs him to run away with her. Hiro knows that he’ll be hunted down if he does, and Lorelai could get hurt, so he tells her he has to stay with them. In the midst of this, they are confronted with the current colonel of the Forces, who encourages Hiro to kill Lorelai. Hiro refuses, and the colonel calls him out for insubordination. The colonel then decides to kill both of them in order to get a promotion. Hiro leaps to defend both Lorelai and himself, and in the scuffle, receives the scar on his head, and accidentally kills the colonel. Traumatized, bloodied, and terrified, Lorelai is the one to apologize to him as he cries his eyes out. Hiro numbly reassures her and tells her to run while she can. Lorelai admits that she loves him and bids him farewell, hoping that they can meet again, and that she’s sorry she can’t do more for him.
This is when Hiro decides to become the perfect agent—dangerous, cruel, and flawless, so that something like this never happens again, and so that he can have enough power to make the decisions rather than just following orders to mindlessly kill people. From then on out he does what he’s told without any complaints and has a record for never failing a single mission the Forces have given to him. Any enemy considers him to be absolutely ruthless because he does not hesitate in battles and will neutralize with no questions asked. He’s a cocky little bastard around enemies lmao he loves to snark them and tease them. He’s strictly against killing after what happened to the colonel, so instead, if it’s a high risk operation, he erases the memories of his targets to reduce the threat. Because he’s so uncomfortable with the thought of death in general he reasons that losing your memories is better than dying, and that makes it easier on the Forces as well since they’ll leave less of a trail rather than just killing people left and right.
Growing up, Hiro didn’t interact with Kaz very much, and they usually just saw each other in passing. However they both respect each other a great amount, and they sympathize with each other, being in the same sort of situation. Both the Hiro and Kaz hate their upbringing and hold a grudge against their superiors for their treatment and experimentation on them;; As for Mallary, Hiro became enamored with her because she reminds him a lot of Lorelai (who he later admits to being his first love). He finds her strength captivating and the way she doesn’t give a shit about other people’s opinions admirable. Hiro eventually falls prey to her manipulation and falls over himself to please her, which bothers Kaz because he knows Mallary’s just toying with him.
After the Forces’ plan to kidnap Ginni and use her as a hostage blows up in their face, Hiro finds out that Kaz had escaped with her, and commends him on the extremely smart decision to do so lol. He wonders if he should start considering leaving the Forces as well, seeing as he’s mature and responsible (and smart) enough to make it on his own. He’s ordered to retrieve Kaz which was a HUGE mistake on the Forces’ part because they didn’t realize Hiro’s loyalties lied more with people on the outside. Hiro meets up with Kaz and Kaz eventually convinces him to desert the Forces and work with him to stop their plans. Hiro agrees to work as a double agent for a while, leaking all of the Forces’ information to Kaz, Ginni, and the guild. In the midst of all this, Hiro meets Olivia, who pretty much calls dibs on him and she’s like “Listen Ginni got to give Kaz his name so can I give the colonel a name?? Please???” So she starts calling him Hiro! And finally baby boy smarts up and starts crushing on a girl that actually gives a damn about him and god dammit it’s the cutest fucking case of puppy love since Dusk/Nozomi. Hiro absolutely adores her, but he’s too nervous to actually do anything about it because he’s got huge abandonment issues (thanks again bad parenting! And Mallary!) and doesn’t want to ruin one of the only genuine friendships he’s ever had. But he is head over HEELS for Olivia and it’s so……softe.
Mallary finds out that Hiro’s acting as a spy, and retaliates. Hiro realizes just how awfully she’s treated him and defeats her, allowing him to escape and officially join up with the guild.
After that it’s a whole bunch of crazy action stuff as plans come together and they get to take down the Forces. Hiro falls harder and deeper for Olivia while she remains oblivious (at least, for a little while, until she finally starts noticing). He grows closer to Kaz and Ginni as well, and begins connecting with Kaz on a deep level because of their shared history. (They’re kind of like brothers, and Hiro considers him to be his best friend :’) )
Once the Forces are defeated, Hiro and Kaz both decide to go on a journey of self discovery in order to better themselves and learn more about the world they haven’t seen due to being locked up for so many years. Kaz and Ginni are already on the verge of forming a relationship, but with Olivia and Hiro it’s still tentative since she’s unsure and he still feels inadequate as a romantic partner. Olivia admits that she likes him and Hiro is so happy he’s ready to burst, but then he realizes it’s not the right time for them to be together so he gently rejects her. (Olivia takes this as an actual rejection tho not a “I’m not ready to be in a relationship with you yet tho I WANT to” and Ginni’s like YA’LL ARE SO DUMB I S2G).
Hiro and Kaz go their separate ways, and Hiro travels around for a while! He eventually settles in a lovely little village where he learns about his forest elemental powers and how to use them better. He’s finally able to connect with other people and essentially becomes way softer around the edges, revealing the true personality he had when he was a kid. A year or so passes and suddenly Kaz, Ginni and Olivia show up to reunite with him, and not long after that Hiro and Olivia FINALLY get together and start dating 😔👌 (Ginni: TOOK you look enough, god)
At some point the four of them go on a journey together and Hiro runs into his biological parents again…!! And he finds out he has a younger sister and they all reconnect and it’s SO EMOTIONAL
Other than that I think that’s all I have 🤔 Thanks for reading though this epic rollercoaster ride of a story plot lol!
Extra personality traits
-Hiro’s sarcasm and snarkiness is a defense mechanism to prevent anybody from seeing his vulnerable side, and also a way to trick the fear inside of him. Kaz is the one to point this out actually lol
-Despite that he does enjoy teasing people lightheartedly and being sassy, once he gets comfortable enough with them! There is a difference between his snarkiness towards enemies compared to that towards friends
-Is EXTREMELY loyal to the people he cares about. At first he tends to act prickly and kind of standoffish towards people he doesn’t know well. Over time he becomes more open to trusting others. Once you earn his trust and he deems you worthy of his friendship he instantly becomes softer and kinder haha, it’s like a switch
-Often dismisses people that he thinks aren’t worth his time or aren’t smart enough to hold an intelligent conversation with him
-Spends a lot of time reading and gathering knowledge. He is very book smart—but not very people smart :’D He and Kaz will spend hours in the guild’s library, since they’re both very thirsty for information outside of what they studied during their time in the Forces
-Touch starved as FUCK. He flips his shit every time somebody touches him in a friendly way, and will melt into a puddle if he gets hugged
-He can be very nosy and insensitive sometimes, prying into other people’s personal affairs if he thinks he can solve the issue
-Absolutely a tactics expert. He calculates all of his moves very carefully, and uses prediction tactics to leave no room for error. He enjoys coming up with mock battle situations to challenge himself.
-Very self-sacrificial;; he views the lives of those he cares about to be far more important than his own. He’ll lay his life on the line for his friends in an instant
-Is the person in the group who is the least fond of violence. If he can find a way around injuring someone, he’ll do it. He prefers to restrict his enemy’s movements or slow them down so they can’t fight back. He is VERY good at neutralizing opponents before they can even register it
-SUPER speedy. Due to his small size he’s very quick, most people don’t see him coming
-He’s really sensitive about his height fjmaksldmas he snaps at people who make fun of him for it
-Tends to levitate when he’s in deep thought. Olivia finds this very cute
-Blooms flowers when he’s happy/embarrassed
-He’s actually. A very talented dancer :0 During his year away from the guild he learned a lot of folk dances at the village he was living in, and when the others witness it they get really starstruck because it’s super mesmerizing!! He blooms flowers as he dances
-At his core he’s a very compassionate character!!
-After escaping from the Forces, he’s able to express his emotions more openly, and goes back to the way he was as a child. He’s a crybaby :’) He cries whenever someone he cares about gets hurt
-The only person in the group with the fucking brain cell, and the most rational one. Unless Olivia gets involved, then he gets stupid and flustered lmao

Damianette December Day 2- Swordplay
I’ll apologize in advance for the duel scene. I’m mostly just taking a stab in the dark when it comes to writing action, in particular fight scenes, but at least I try.
@daminette-december2019-2020 “Are you really okay with teaching me Kagami?”
“Of course Marinette. I would not offer my help half-heartedly only to change my mind at the last moment. Besides, you are determined to learn and already naturally talented at fencing, it would a shame if you did not learn.”
The two girls faced each other, each with a rapier in their hands. The park was oddly quiet despite the perfect day. And it was the day Marinette was finally going to learn to fence. Swordsmanship wouldn’t be much help with her yo-yo, but if she ever became Lady Noire again, she wanted to be prepared.
“We’ll start with the first position, en garde.” Marinette mirrored Kagami’s position as best as she could. “Not too bad, but you’ll want to angle your back foot at a bit more until it’s at a 90° angle from the front foot, Make sure your weight is balanced.” Marinette shifted to correct her position. “Yes, that’s satisfactory. Adrien has already told me from your first match with him that you’re footwork is already very good, so we will start with parrying. I’ll attack first.”
And so they spent the next couple of hours practicing in the park. Obviously, Kagami won most of the matches but, Marinette managed to get a few lucky points in, surprising the Olympic fencer.
It just so happened as they were practicing however that someone who knew Marinette recognized the pair and made their way over.
“Hey Pixie, what’re you doing here?” The voice stopped Marinette during the match, letting Kagami get the point.
“Jason! Why are you in Paris? It’s good to see you again!” It was the first time she had seen him ever since they first met almost a year ago. “You said you had to head back to Gotham to take care of some family business. Did you finish?”
“Uh… yeah. In fact, I’m in Paris for some more business, this time with the rest of my family.” He looked at the foils that each girl was holding. “Are you a fencer? Is that what you’re doing out here?”
She was a bit embarrassed at being called a fencer, she could hardly say she had enough experience to be called a fencer. “Actually, I’m just a beginner. My friend, Kagami, is teaching me. Oh right, I didn’t introduce you too. Jason, this is Kagami Tsurugi,” she pulled the girl forward. “And Kagami this is Jason. He came by the bakery a lot when he was staying in Paris back in October last year. He managed to help out a bit with some of the more rude customers when my mom was out of the shop.”
“A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Jason.” Kagami turned to Marinette. “Would you like to stop here for today, we’ve already been at it for some time.”
“Sure, we can get some orange juice from the bakery after we pack up too.” Except before they could start packing up, Jason stopped them.
“Actually, before you leave, would you be interested in helping me take one of my brothers down a peg?”
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
About a week later they met back up in the park. This time, Adrien joined Marinette and Kagami and Jason brought along someone who could only be his brother. He was about their age although he seemed more serious than any high school student should ever look.
Apparently, he was also very good at every style of swordsmanship, including fencing. Which is why Jason dragged Marinette into this. He wanted them to fight and, assuming she won, would ‘humble’ his brother. At first, she didn’t want to participate in the whole debacle but, Jason did make it seem like his brother, Damian was really rude to everyone else in their family because of some superiority complex and she really hated people who looked down on others.
Of course, this plan would only work if she could beat him in a fencing duel, and she doubted that that would happen anyway. Jason said he saw a bit of her practice match with Kagami and that if she really was a beginner, she was naturally talented (She wouldn’t tell him that it was really her miraculous giving her a cheat ability.
Although the only reason she was chosen for this role instead of Kagami was that Kagami was too recognizable as a famous fencer. Marinette’s advantage would be her natural reflexes that have been honed by her superhero duties, the stupid amount of luck she gained from wielding the ladybug miraculous, and the fact that her opponent was bound to underestimate her capabilities.
So, here they were, taking a part in Jason’s plan. His utterly ridiculous plan, as Chloe would say. Without a word, Marinette took up a position on one side her lack of enthusiasm showing. On the other side, Damian, clearly annoyed and unwilling to be there, took up a position at the other side facing her.
“Let’s get this over with quickly. I don’t know why I have to duel an amateur like you but, I’ll make sure to take it easy so as not to completely crush your pride.” Those were the first words he spoke to her. And while she agreed that he would probably win, his attitude was more than a little infuriating.
“Bold words for someone who hasn’t won yet.” She raised an eyebrow at him, thinking about the way Kagami might act in the same situation. Suddenly, her determination to win was surging. He looked back at her a bit stunned at the change in her demeanor. But, he still held confidence in his ability to win. So, when Kagami calls en garde, he was not entirely prepared for her attack.
She wasn’t going to wait for him to take the right of way, so she lunged at him with the foil. Taken aback by her sudden move forward, he parried her foil just in time and moved to riposte, unfortunately for him, she was too quick, and she managed to disengage before he could scour a point. Recovering back to the en garde position, she back down a bit to see what he would do next.
Damian took the opportunity to also recover back to the en garde position and analyze the situation. Marinette was fast, faster than one would normally expect from a beginner, implying previous experience with fighting but, that could be any number of things. She could gain quick reflexes from learning any number of martial arts or sports. He would either have to be faster than her or catch her off guard.
He feinted to her right before going to attack her left side, yet it didn’t work. She didn’t fall for the feint and when he made his move against her, she was ready to parry. Deflecting the blade, she advanced forward, and, attacking from the slight angle below that her short stature afforded her, she came from under his blade and jabbed him with the point of the foil, ending the match.
If Jason’s plan was to embarrass him, he managed to fail. Rather than embarrassed, Damian was in awe that this petite girl actually managed to beat him at a match. He acknowledged that if she had fallen for the feint then she wouldn’t have been able to block his attack and then he would have won the advantage but, either she was incredibly lucky or incredibly skilled at managing to see through the feint.
He just stood there for a while, making Marinette concerned that he may be in too much shock. “Are you alright, Damian?” she waved a hand in front of his face. He blinked in response finally showing some emotion.
Except he still seemed out of it. He was mumbling to himself but it was loud enough that Marinette was still able to hear it and blush at what he said. “I think I’m in love.”
Jason started laughing out loud when he saw Marinette’s face go up in flames. He had a fairly good idea of what Damian had said if she was reacting like that. And so did Adrien.
Adrien made his way up to them and, leaning against Marinette’s shoulder, spoke to Damian. “She’s free tomorrow at 12. She’ll meet you near the Canal Saint-Martin. Make sure you be there or you’ll have half of Paris ready to hunt you down.”
“Adrien!” she whacked his side in annoyance. “Don’t just make plans for me.” His only response was to raise an eyebrow at her and she admitted defeat. “Well… thank you anyway, I’d probably be stumbling over my words for the next three months otherwise.” she turned to talk to Damian who was still a bit shocked over everything happening.
“If you’d like, we can hang out tomorrow. We didn’t really start with the best impression of each other but, first impressions can be misleading, right Adrien? Kagami?” she nudged his side and then looked at the girl who seemed like an ice queen but was really sweet. “I’d love to get to know you better while you’re staying in Paris. What do you say?”
He finally managed to understand what was going on and, to say he was out of his depth was an understatement, but he knew his decision immediately. “I would love to accompany you tomorrow. It’s a date?”
She smiled at him. “Yeah, it’s a date.”

Finally got around to typing up my Technoblade D&D build!!! I’ve been working on making these for a lot of the Dream SMP characters, and I thought it would be fun to have him in stat block format, so you too can throw c!Technoblade at your players as a final boss! (Disclaimer: I don’t know how accurate the CR level is, I just set it to 8 since the build is a lv8 build PC build.)
Image description and explanation/rambling below the cut!
[Image ID: A D&D stat block for Technoblade. It reads:
Technoblade
Medium humanoid (firbolg), Lawful Neutral
Armor Class: 18 (Half plate, defense fighting style)
Hit Points: 72 (8d12+24)
Speed: 40 ft.
STR: 18 (+4)
DEX: 14 (+2)
CON: 16 (+3)
INT: 14 (+2)
WIS: 13 (+1)
CHA: 6 (-2)
Saving Throws: Str +7, Con +6
Skills: Athletics +7, Intimidation +1, Perception +4, Survival +4
Damage Resistances: bludgeoning, piercing, slashing
Senses: passive Perception 14
Languages: Common, Elvish, Giant, Goblin
Challenge: 8 (3,900 XP)
Innate spellcasting. Technoblade's innate spellcasting ability is Wisdom (spell save DC 12). He can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:
1/short rest each: detect magic, disguise self
Speech of beast and leaf. Technoblade has the ability to communicate in a limited manner with beasts and plants. They can understand the meaning of his words, though he has no special ability to understand them in return. He has advantage on all Charisma checks he makes to influence them.
Powerful build. Technoblade counts as one size larger when determining his carrying capacity and the weight he can push, drag, or lift.
Unarmoured defense. When not wearing any armour, Technoblade's defense equals 15. He can use a shield and still gain this benefit.
Reckless. At the start of his turn, Technoblade can gain advantage on all melee weapon attack rolls he makes during that turn, but attack rolls against him have advantage until the start of his next turn.
Great weapon master. When Technoblade scores a critical hit with a melee weapon or reduces a creature to 0 hit points with one, he can make one melee weapon attack as a bonus action. Additionally, before Technoblade makes a melee weapon attack with a heavy weapon that he is proficient with, he can choose to take a -5 penalty to the attack roll. If the attack hits, he adds +10 to the attack's damage.
Warrior of the Gods. If a spell, such as Raise Dead, has the sole effect of restoring Technoblade to life (but not undeath), the caster doesn't need material components to cast the spell on Technoblade.
Divine fury. While Technoblade is raging, the first creature he hits on each of his turns with a weapon attack takes extra necrotic damage equal to 1d6 + 3.
Action surge (1/rest). Technoblade takes one additional action on his turn.
Combat superiority (4/rest). Technoblade can apply the following maneuvers using his four superiority die (d8s):
Feinting attack: Technoblade expends one superiority die and uses a bonus action on his turn to feint, choosing one creature within 5 feet of his as his target. He has advantage on his next attack roll against that creature before the end of his turn. If that attack hits, add the superiority die to the attack's damage roll.
Menacing attack: When Technoblade hits a creature with a weapon attack, he can expend one superiority die to attempt to frighten the target. He adds the superiority die to the attack's damage roll, and the target must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, it is frightened of him until the end of his next turn.
Trip attack: When Technoblade hits a creature with a weapon attack, he can expend one superiority die to attempt to knock the target down. He adds the superiority die to the attack's damage roll, and if the target is Large or smaller, it must make a Strength saving throw (DC 15). On a failed save, he knocks the target prone.ActionsHidden step (1/rest).
As a bonus action, Technoblade can magically turn invisible until the start of his next turn or until he attacks, makes a damage roll, or forces someone to make a saving throw.
Greatsword. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) slashing damage.
Heavy Crossbow. Ranged Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, range 100/400 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d10 + 2) piercing damage.
Multiattack. Technoblade can make 2 weapon attacks.
Rage (4/day). As a bonus action, Technoblade enters a rage that lasts for 1 minute, ending early if knocked unconscious or if Technoblade's turn ends and he hasn't attacked a hostile creature since his last turn or taken damage since then. He can also end his rage on his turn as a bonus action. While raging, Technoblade deals +2 damage, has advantage on Strength checks and Strength saving throws, and has resistance to bludgeoning, piercing and slashing damage. Technoblade cannot cast spells during a rage.
End ID.]
Okay. Rambling time.
Holy SHIT I loved making this. I tend to play spellcasters or dex based characters, so it was a lot of fun to make a str character for once.
Stats first. As a barbarian/fighter and also as a force of nature, str is his highest stat. I could have made it 20, but I have a weird aversion to writing up characters with maxed out stats for some reason? Anyway, that’s what he has. He can always boost it if he takes another level in fighter. I also decided to give him pretty high intelligence and wisdom, which are rare in barbarian characters, since, y’know, their main point is to hit things very hard. But Techno is so, SO resourceful, and one of the main reasons that he’s so good at fighting is because he does his research and acquires the best items for it and puts himself in the right place at the right time. Hence the high-ish int. I feel a little bad making his charisma so low, but cha represents several things, most notably the ability to talk to people and force of personality. Also known as: how hard it is to be swayed or controlled, magically or otherwise. Remember what happened at the festival? That’s low charisma. Also I had to give him a low stat to balance the fact that he’s insanely good at so many fucking things. Why.
As a side note, when picking his proficiencies, I was using the homebrew rule that you can use your strength modifier when you roll for intimidation. So his Strength (Intimidation) check would actually have a +7, which is MUCH better than the Charisma (Intimidation) check of +1. Big strong characters are absolutely scary, damnit, and I will die on that hill.
Next up: race. I HAD to make him a firbolg. They’re connected with nature and are often portrayed with animalistic features (e.g. Caduceus Clay from Critical Role), and it means we can have both pig Techno and anime Techno, since firbolgs naturally have the disguise self spell. I just think that’s neat. They also get the ability to turn invisible! Which Techno has been doing a LOT recently! Sure, firbolgs can only do it for a turn, but it still fits.
Onto classes. Barbarian was a dead certain for Techno, honestly - his battle prowess, how he acts when he fights, it just fits so well. Even his use of potions - he gets a lot of buffs from them, increased damage and damage resistance being the two most notable and the two that best translate to D&D rage. Even speed potions - barbarians get +10ft movement speed at level 5. And barbarians are made for two-handed weapons, so obviously I HAD to give him a greatsword. The Orphan Obliterator is a deadly weapon. He also still favours swords even when axes are better in the newest version, so a greatsword was a must. Also I just really like greatswords.
I wavered a bit when picking a subclass, to be honest. I’m not really a big fan of any of the official subclasses (they don’t really fir my playstyle, which is why I homebrewed an entire new subclass for my barbarian character, but that’s a post for another day), but looking through, there were a few that could work. Originally, I picked Juggernaut - this was because of how he fought during the Dream battle, moving Dream around the arena into a more advantageous position for Techno, which is the Juggernaut’s 3rd level ability in a nutshell. They also can’t be knocked prone, and both of these things work INCREDIBLY well for skywars/bedwars style combat - staying put on this island and knocking off your opponents.
However, in the end, I decided to go with Zealot. It was inevitable after he REALLY started building his character on the Dream SMP, which is what this is mostly based on. Zealots have two main points: they follow a God, and it’s very, VERY hard to kill them.
Sound familiar?
Techno isn’t just a barbarian - he also has three levels of Battlemaster fighter. The barbarian/fighter combo is one of the best there is for sheer combat power (bested only, in my opinion, by barbarian/moon druid - those characters are actually unkillable) and the choice of Battlemaster specifically opened up so many options in combat. I had debated going with champion, just for the crit probability boost, but ultimately decided that Battlemaster was infinitely more fun. The three maneuvers were picked for a combination of reasons - they’re all incredibly useful in combat, but I also just thought they were thematically accurate and/or funny. I just had to give him Menacing Attack, because one of the few constants in Technoblade’s combat is people running the hell away from him during competitions. Feinting is for pure combat ability, and Trip is just. Really funny to me. It worked better when he was Juggernaut and literally couldn’t be knocked prone, but I just like the idea of someone using their full action to try and knock over this eight foot tall firbolg (they’re so fucking tall! This bitch is massive!) Technoblade just. Looking down at them before knocking them clean off of their feet with one swing of his Greatsword.
And finally, weapons and magical items. The magic ones didn’t actually make it onto the stat block, because I wanted it to be purely basic character building, but I absolutely had some ideas. Some of these were rolled on loot tables, some were completely homebrewed to fit Techno’s canon weapons. Guess which ones lmao.
magical heavy crossbow (use charge to fire 3 bolts simultaneously, using only one arrow, rolling an attack for each. Each target must be within 10ft of each other. 7 charges per day)
explosive bolts (10ft radius, double dice of the weapon it’s fired from, dex save)
mithral half-plate
ring of feather falling
trident of flight (attunement) (30ft swim and flight speed, 120ft flight speed when its raining)
upgraded cape of the mountebank (8 charges, 2 for misty step, 4 for dimension door) (yes it looks like his normal cape)
bag of holding
sword of life-stealing (attunement) (I don’t know why I added this except Techno’s canon sword would be VERY hard to homebrew and also he can do enough damage with a normal one so he could literally just have like a +2 or something. Do what you want)

Why RWBY Won
There have been some people questioning Team RWBY’s victory against the ACE-OPs, claiming that they aren’t skilled enough compared to the premier team of Atlas, which is both a misunderstanding of what determines the outcome of a fight and attempts to pin it on a sole factor (interestingly enough I’ve also seen people use the same flawed line of reasoning a year ago to say that Adam should have won because he’s “strong”)
The outcomes of fights are decided by a combination of skill, experience, strength, environment, intelligence, mental state, preexisting advantages/disadvantages or weaknesses and the exploitation of such, and in cases of multiple combatants on the same side, teamwork
With this in mind it certainly may seem like ACE-OPs is more skilled, experienced, and stronger given that they’re adult graduated Hunters, who are “the best in Atlas” (are the truly the best? Or are they just the best who would not question orders?), but other than that every indication is that they have had a run of the mill schooling and experiences as Hunters, yes RWBY is technically only second or third years, but that’s just what they would be in the academies relative to their ages, Team RWBY’s experiences have been anything but ordinary, that fact is the plot of the show, they have been fighting terrorists, esoteric legendary Grimm, and facing villains with far-scoping grand plans at a young age, Team RWBY is simply not comparable to other Hunters in their age range
With that in mind we should get to the main reason RWBY won: Teamwork
Throughout the fight RWBY was very clearly working with each other, they watched each other’s backs, and aided in defeating opponents, but for ACE-OPs, there’s almost no semblance of cooperation, Marrow was reluctant to fight, Harriet was violent and aggressive, and even Elm and Vine, the ones who worked together the most during the fight were divided in approach, Elm opting for more lethal force and Vine trying to restrain while fighting together meant they were as much against themselves as they were against Bumbleby, speaking of which, it was cooperation by Blake and Yang that beat Vine then Elm, and though Ruby and Weiss weren't directly aiding each other (the nature of their opponents mean they had to keep them isolated from the larger battle), they supported and helped where they could, Ruby defending Weiss, which also lead to further division in ACE-OPs as this drew Harriet back into the office, where she and Marrow got into a spat over methods and use of force, and later Weiss bring the fight with Harriet to an end with efficiency
Next we have weaknesses, advantages, and disadvantages: In this area Team RWBY very much played to their strengths with their opponents,
Ruby faced off against the speedster Harriet and thus keeping her from attacking WBY, and more importantly despite the similarities of their semblances, the functional difference of Ruby’s is that it allows her to go incorporeal and does not need solid footing on the ground to work, thus allowing Ruby to dodge and wriggle out of Harriet’s grasp, important as Harriet is a close range fighter with no discernible long-range weapon, furthermore, and this is something that I think gets missed but Ruby’s line to Harriet about how RWBY is now better is more than just a justified boast, its psychological tactics, Harriet is competitive, she needs to win, and Ruby played to that, by taunting Harriet, Ruby got into Harriet’s head, threw her off balance, Ruby distracted Harriet from the larger fight (which Harriet could have been a major influencing factor on the outcome if she just worked with her teammates), by goading her into a personal grudge, Ruby targeted Harriet’s focus and made her get caught up in something personal, oh the irony
Yang squaring up against the heavy-hitter Elm, as she is not only the toughest of RWBY and therefore can take more/harder hits, but she has semblance that specifically requires taking hits as a power up, that and Yang nullified the advantage of Elm’s semblance by exploiting its logical weakness of requiring solid ground
Blake took on Vine, and honestly, he was probably the most screwed over in his opponent, we still don’t know what Vine’s weapon (if he has one) is, and his semblance works by stretching out and grabbing things, which isn’t so useful against an opponent with a weapon and style that not only works at different ranges, but alternates and switches between them rapidly during combat, and Blake’s semblance is perfect for the fight, as in practice it works as short range teleportation whilst not immediately indicating where Blake has gone, and the semi-solid nature of Blake’s shadows makes for excellent distraction/bait against someone who’s fighting style is based on grasping/catching enemies
And finally we have Weiss and Marrow, like with Vine, the logical weakness of Marrow’s semblance was exploited, Weiss kept herself and her summon separate, depriving Marrow of his ability to end the fight quickly as he can only freeze those in his line of site (side note: good on Team RWBY for quickly getting away from Marrow and therefore keeping him from affecting the rest of the battle), any time Marrow froze one he was opened to attack from the other, eventually he was overwhelmed
And there’s one more reason why I’d like to add for why RWBY won: willingness to use violence
Now what I mean by this is that RWBY was on the same page on what they would do to win, they aimed to incapacitate, not hurt, half of ACE-OPs was committed and willing to use lethal force, 1/4 was trying not to hurt, but clearly wasn’t afraid to do so if it came to it, and only poor Marrow seemed to have any real opposition to lethal means,
What is it that makes this important?  Creativity and ingenuity
As I recall reading at some point, what makes superheroes who do not kill or are not willing to kill outside of extreme circumstances better fighters than heroes that are willing to kill/villains, is frankly that humans (and in this case Faunus since the anatomy is almost the same) are remarkably easy to kill, maim, and damge, heroes who do not kill have to be careful and creative to non-lethally incapacitate their opponents, particularly if the heroes have superpowers and they’re against normal humans, thus the need to be smart and efficient at problem-solving, as opposed to lethal force which is easy to implement and does not require much brainpower to use, therefore RWBY did more than physically beat ACE-OPs, they beat them in the mind as well

Techno found himself complacent. Now, keep in mind, it's hard for that to even come close to happening. After all, complacency is a recipe for downfall. But he really couldn't help it.
He flicks the blood from his sword and finds that his victory is tainted by monotony. He could hear cheering and awe at yet another victory, though like many other times, the applause became indistinguishable from the other voices in his head that kept his every waking moment permanently barred from even the prospect of silence.
As he continues to clean his blade, he begins to stalk off so that he might wear some nicer clothes. Not that he really needed to change since he hadn't even gotten a speck on his attire. It was flashy, shure, but appearance is important in his line of work. That, and a little extra gold around the wrist never hurt anyone. Just as he was about to leave his audience and former opponent behind, he heard a voice.
"Technoblade." It sounded expectant. He turned at the mention of his alias-turned-name and saw a new arrival standing near. His method of appearance was definitely… unique. Yes, let's put it that way. If there was a way to stray from every single norm, then this guy was it. A porcelain mask decorated his face, pristine as could be and a very simple design of a smile boasted confidence. He had his sword drawn and pointed at Techno. Techno raised an eyebrow as he stared directly into the mask, unimpressed.
"Yeah? You lookin' for a duel?" Techno asked, knowing the answer would be yes. He'd seen it before and had done this whole song and dance. But he didn't want to fight. Not this guy. If he was here, then there was no way he actually had noteworthy skill. He wasn't even in the tournament.
"Of course. Why else would I have a sword?"
"Yer makin' yerself look like a fool. Tournament's over. I'm not fightin' you." Techno could see him tense up and his grip tightened around the sword.
"Yeah? And what's so wrong about an encore?"
"I have a family to feed. I'm not stayin' to fight you. You couldn't even get into a tournament like this. I wiped the floor with the competition here, you really think you'll be any different?"
"I can and will beat you."
"Dream on. I'm goin' home." And so, he left. Back turned and sword sheathed. The masked man he left behind lowered his blade and huffed. This wouldn't be the end.
_____
It had been some time, not enough in Techno's opinion, before he saw that mask again. In his defense, his outfit changed. It looked like he'd put a bit more dignity into choosing how he presented himself. Still though, Techno had refused him. This tournament was higher up in the ranks. More was at stake too. Money. Land. Lives. Illegal? Maybe. But it let Techno really let loose. Though in typical fashion, the masked man had shown up right at the end of the tournament. It was already over but here he was, pointing a sword to Techno and demanding a duel. Techno found himself sighing.
"Listen. You either have no sense of showing up on time, have no guts to be in a tournament like this, or you really just don't have skills to be here. No matter which one it is, it means you'll be like every other contestant I've beaten. So, I'll say it again: dream on. You don't have the skill." Techno didn't even let him reply this time. He didn't give him the chance. Just turned his back and left. He was doing his work and getting his pay, so why was this guy so persistent?
_____
This was where he peaked. Or not. He supposed that the sky was the limit. It probably could be too if he was able to point his blade in all of the right places. A noble's tournament. Felt good. Even, better, these guys actually made Techno pay attention. Not that he'd gotten more than a nick on the sleeve, but hey, it's the thought that counts.
And to be honest, even though he had to hold back from killing anyone, it just made it more difficult. The restrictions made it more interesting. He had to think around them. He decided he liked the noble tournaments.
Though he'd probably like this one in particular significantly more if that mask hadn't interrupted him right before his first duel. Another challenge, another rejection. Techno was starting to catch on to this pattern. If he wasn't in the tournament, then he wasn't going to duel. What could he possibly gain from fighting him? The conversation was going the same as well. Maybe this would become another constant in Techno's life. Or maybe not. Who knows.
_____
"Welcome one and all to the Greater SMP semi-annual tournament. Today, we have some very esteemed guests joining us. To list just a few, Sapnap of the Greater SMP, George of the Greater SMP, Antfrost and Badboyhalo both representing the Badlands, and many more.
"But I know why you're really here, folks. You're here to see the high ranks. The best of the best. Well they're here folks. So get ready." Techno listened to the announcer and couldn't help but smile. He was ready. He'd face off against some real competition. Looking back on it, he felt silly for thinking that he'd peaked already.
There were so many more people he had to beat in combat before he'd be satisfied.
The tournament went about how he'd predicted. The nobles here definitely put up a fight, but not enough to best him. Some came closer than others, but his sword always found its mark eventually. So when the end of the tournament began approaching, he found himself a bit winded. It was him against the other finalist. He was excited, he wouldn't lie about that. But he tried not to get his hopes too high. Best not get too eager and accidentally kill the guy. The announcer came on again.
"Our finalists, everyone. Technoblade, having clawed his way to the top with ease now sits on his fortune, ready to take down challengers.
"And our masked duelist, who until today, has refused to take part in any official tournaments. He faces off Technoblade, eager to add another win to his list." Technoblade found himself pausing at that. Masked duelist? Why was he getting a sense of deja vu?
Well lo and behold. White porcelain emerged to face Techno. He'd stuck with a similar outfit this time, but his body language had changed. He was more confident, if that were even possible.
"Oh. So it's you. You made it into a tournament, huh?" Techno asked, sounding decidedly smug. The man let out a scoff and rolled his shoulders back.
"Yup. You willing to duel me now?"
"Eh. Fine. What's your name? They didn't say it over the mic."
"Yeah, cause I didn't tell them." The masked man thought for a brief moment before his mouth under the mask split into a mischievous grin.
"What have you said every time you turned me down? 'Dream on'? Well,"
He drew his sword and slid his foot back into a ready stance.
"Call me Dream." And he lunged. Techno was quick to parry, but this Dream guy was quicker than he looked. Not to mention calculated. Every single thing he did seemed to have a purpose, and even moments when Techno thought he was about to best him, Dream would seamlessly turn his mistake into an advantage. Techno went laser focused as he found himself struggling to gain and keep a foothold. The sound of swords clashing went on for what felt like an eternity, and even as he was beginning to tire, the sound of his heart thumping in his ears and the voices (audience? He didn't know) yelling for blood put him on top of the world. He hadn't felt like this in a long time.
Though all good things must come to an end, and this good thing ended with Techno's sword frozen by Dream's neck and Dream's sword positioned to plunge into Techno's stomach. Both were heaving for oxygen and frozen in time, even the voices quieted for a handful of seconds before time was set into motion again by the announcer's voice:
"Stalemate!" Dream and Techno dropped their stance, well and truly exhausted. Dream spoke first.
"Okay, not gonna lie, that was awesome. You're a lot better than I thought you'd be."
"Oh don't get all mushy on me. You've earned your duel privileges, but only so I can learn how ta beat you."
"Oh okay, sure. Whatever. I won't let that happen. I'll win, just you wait."
"Ha, like that'd ever happen, Mr. I Refuse to Enter in Tournaments. Dream on."
"I think I will."
_____
"You look like a fish out of water." Techno remarked, looking at Dream's formal attire. Said man was stiff as a board and had his mask, still pristine as the day he met Techno, pulled completely over his face.
"Shut up. Not all of us dress like we just robbed a piglin hoard."
"Excuse me, gold is the best thing to wear and it makes me look fabulous. I'm not the one that looks like he's got glue in his joints."
"Are you two done yet?" A dry voice came from the now cracked open door, revealing the face of one of Dream's closer friends, Sapnap. After Dream's first official tournament, he'd actually found that participating in them was alright. He wouldn't tell you why, but any who knew him knew that it was because he wanted to stick by the friends he'd made at that tournament. He would definitely deny it though.
"Yeah, just waiting on this nerd." Techno said, gesturing to Dream.
"Oh shut up."
"No."
"Okay, just come on. You fought your way to the top so now you have to deal with it. Come on, get a move on." Sapnap consoles while pushing the two out of the room. They'd all seen too much of each other since then, mostly because now that they were of equal standing, they were usually going to be in the same places.
"You two argue too much." Sapnap teased. He playfully nudged Dream to get him to loosen up, but it didn't really do much.
"I mean, Dream is pretty insufferable."
"Wha- hey!"
"He's got a point."
"Oh and that's coming from Panda and Pig."
"Yer not helpin' your case, Dream." Techno pushed. Dream threw his hands in the air.
"I give up. You two are the worst." Techno stifled a laugh, determined to not show how he was warming up to Dream and his friends. He had to make sure he was at the top of his game too. There was going to be a tournament later that day which meant another chance to beat Dream at his own game. Though before another comment could be made, the room they trio was approaching suddenly erupted into shouting. Techno and Dream rushed forward and swung the doors open to find absolute chaos on the other side. Masked people with very off-looking weapons pointed at people there were ransacking the room and all of its occupants for all it was worth.
"Robbery." Sapnap mumbled under his breath. Techno looked over to Dream who looked to already be in a fighting stance. Techno followed suit. With no words exchanged, they leapt into the fray, ready to subdue the thieves. Techno managed to knock a couple out before a blade clipped his ear and he felt a white-hot sting follow it. He quickly flicked it off and slammed the head of the person who'd done that into a nearby table.
"They've got enchanted stuff!" Techno yelled to Dream on the other side of the room.
"Yeah, I got that." Dream shouted back. He was disheveled and Techno wondered why for a brief moment before he spotted that one of the guys he was fighting had donned a dangerously glinting chest plate. Thorns.
"Well, if you can't beat 'em." Techno shouted to the room before wrenching the sword that had clipped him previously from the man's limp hand. Techno would admit that he didn't have much experience with enchanted gear since unless the tournament was underground and very very illegal, enchantments were banned. Not that he ever needed the extra help anyway. Once he had a weapon in his hand though, sweeping the area was easy as pie. Dream had followed suit and grabbed a sword with what looked like sharpness enchanted into the blade. The two eventually found themselves back to back, wiping clean the room of the thieves. The people in attendance had begun to get set free as well and followed the two in clearing the space. Though they weren't able to do much since many of the attackers had already been knocked unconscious by Techno and Dream.
"Well that was fun." Dream remarked. Techno had to agree. Their numbers were indeed impressive and it proved to be an interesting challenge fighting several people at once.
Not to mention, Techno couldn't recall a time he'd fought back to back with someone. It wasn't bad. Maybe he'd try it again.
@1randomperson15 thanks for the idea! I had fun with this one. I hope you don't mind that I took a few liberties with it lol.
And to everyone else, if you have an idea you really want to see written, let me know!

"It's through my actions that I'll realize my ultimate dream" (Tenya Iida My Hero Academia part 1/2)
Yeah you saw that right I have TWO My Hero husbandos and guess who gets to listen to me talk about both of them today? That's right it's you guys! Oh how very lucky for you. Both of them meant the absolute world to me and I will fight anyone for their validation. We shall start with Iida because honestly he was the one that I loved first.
To me, my relationship with Iida is really interesting because at first I was a Sero stan. Despite my utter devotion to Michael Tatum and everything that he does I was not an Iida fan at first. I became a fan of his after the Stain arc when I saw all that he went through just to show that he could become a hero. I know that's when a lot of people dipped out but I never personally understood why? This was his character development and when he became more than just a running joke and a stick in the mud. This is when he realized that he had people who cared about him and he used that kindness that he was given to others to encourage them to become heroes.
I absolutely adore Iida because of his endless determination. To me that's what his character comes down to. He's determined to do the right thing no matter the costs. Even if it means shutting Deku down because he doesn't want to see him get hurt like when Deku wants to go after Bakugou. Tenya is fiercely protective over the people that he has in his life. After his brother becomes paralyzed he just wanted to help as many people as he could. He loves his friends, especially Midoriya and Todoroki. He would do anything to keep them safe from harm because he doesn't ant to lose anybody else.
His protective streak also comes into his duties as the class representative. He'll do whatever it takes to look after his classmates and make sure that all of them are safe. This isn't all that he's good for though! I also love that he's adorably goofy even though I don't think that he means to be?? It just makes him stand out more. Through his hilarity I learned to love and appreciate Tenya Iida, the mom friend and square boi of class 1-A.
Iida might not be the most developed character on the show yet but I think that the development that he does is one that I adore. He's kind but there's also this edge to him that bares warning of do not hurt his friends. He can use this to his advantage, such as when Nine was on the island in Heroes Rising, Tenya used his class leadership skills to band everyone together and form them into groups based upon strategy.
He's somebody that is constantly thinking about the advantages and disadvantages of his opponent. If there is something that I love more than a goofball, it's a goofball with a big brain. I loved getting to see his intelligence grow and see how he could better use recipro burst and see that grow and develop from something that used to be a one and done maneuver into something so much stronger.
So that's why I believe that Iida is the best boi of class 1-A. I do have one more bestest boi but that one is probably already super obvious and you'll see them in a bit!

How to Play as Cyborg in DnD 5e
Tumblr media
Next up in our Teen Titans marathon of builds, we’ll build Victor Stone, better known as Cyborg. I sure thought this was going to be a much simpler build, yet I’ve spent two days working and reworking it, and it ended up being nothing like I initially assumed. But in the end, I’m positive this was for the better, as it turned out much better than I expected.
Tumblr media
Our first instinct is probably to make Cyborg a Warforged, but here’s the problem with that: Cyborg was born human. He needs to eat, sleep, breathe, these are all things Warforged don’t do. And Cyborg has multiple episodes fixated on maintaining his humanity. To not make him a human is to completely miss the point of his character. Obviously, he is no longer a Standard Human. He has changed. We’ll call him a Variant Human, and we’ll give him Heavy Armor Mastery to reduce non-magical melee damage by 3. We’ll give him +1 INT/+1 CON and he’ll get +1 STR from his free feat.
Mythic Odysseys of Theros gave us the Athlete background. You get proficiency with Athletics and Acrobatics. Next, we’ll pick two Fighter skills, we’ll go for Intimidation and Perception. You’re a big tough guy, and there’s probably a radar or GPS somewhere in all that machinery.
We’re largely a team player, but on more than one occasion we’ve left the team to try and become a solo hero or lead another team. I’d say we’re Chaotic Good.
Tumblr media
FIGHTER Brute
We’ll kick off our Cyborg Build as a Fighter. Don’t worry, we’ll be multi-classing, but starting as a Fighter starts us off with Heavy Armor proficiency, which is nice. Plus, we were a human athlete long before we ever became part robot. The Brute Fighter adds 1d4 to every damage roll, meaning you really pack a whollap. It’s almost as if you’ve got brass knuckles or something. Speaking of knuckles, Cyborg likes to punch things, so we’ll pick Unarmed Combat from the Fighting Style options. We deal 1d8 + STR bludgeoning damage when punching with two hands, or 1d6 + STR when our other hand is busy holding something. At 7th level, we get to add 1d6 to saving throws, and if that puts the roll above 20, it’s treated as rolling a nat 20. At 10th level, the extra 1d4 damage increases to 1d6. At 15th level, when you land a crit, you add your Brute Fighter Level to the damage roll, meaning you’re putting out 2d8+5+1d6+15 (23-42) with two hands, or 3d6+20 (23-38) when you’re one-handed. That’s a whole lot of ouch. The next level up is even better, since at level 16, your extra 1d6 damage becomes 1d8. Meaning that by level 16, you’re dealing 3d8+21 (24-45) damage on a two-handed crit, or 2d6+1d8+21 (24-41) on a one-handed crit. And with three actions per turn, the odds of landing all that ouch are pretty high. If you’re allergic to UA subclasses, Champion also works, just not as well.
Tumblr media
ARTIFICER Artillerist
Once you’ve started as a Fighter, we can hop on over to Artificer and choose the Artillerist. This gives us an Eldritch Cannon, which we’ll make Tiny so we can hold it in our right hand. We’ll be primarily using the Force Ballista, which has a range of 120 feet, deals 2d8 force damage, and pushes objects 5 feet away from the cannon. If you really want to focus on the cannon, it’ll increase to 3d8 at 9th level, but Cyborg is supposed to be the Tank/DPS of the party. Firing from long range is Starfire’s specialty. Instead, it’s better to have more levels of Fighter and hit more often, and just have the Artificer as much as necessary for ranged combat. But don’t fret, because that Cannon is going to get a lot of usage, because it can be fired on every bonus action, which as a Fighter means you’re going to be dishing out a ton of pain. You can be one-arm boxing an enemy within melee range, while sniping another enemy clear on the other side of the battlefield, and with 3 attacks per turn in the late game, Cyborg has the option to be dishing out 4 attacks total per turn. There’s a reason he’s the muscle of the team.
Tumblr media
CYBORG’S SPELLS
Cantrips Mending Message (Titan Communicators)
1st Level Grease Longstrider Jump Shield Thunderwave
To be fair, if we’re going to use our spell slots for anything, its building another Eldritch Cannon if the first one is destroyed. Plus, everything Cyborg could do at first level, Raven can do better, and she has a lot more spell slots to put to it.
Tumblr media
ARTIFICER INFUSIONS
Due to our low level, we only get 4 infusions. Now some specify having weapons, but we chose Unarmed Combat. Me personally, I take that as meaning our hands are our weapons, but check with your DM how they consider it, because there’s also a lot of fighter features that only trigger with a weapon attack, so don’t use this build if your DM is stingy about Unarmed Combat not counting as a Weapon attack, because otherwise a lot of your features aren’t going to trigger.
ARMOR OF TOOLS Integrate Tinkerer’s Tools into your armor, add your INT mod to tool checks made with those Tinkerer’s tools.
ENHANCED DEFENSE Increase your AC by +1.
MIND SHARPENER If you fail a spell concentration saving throw, use a reaction to pass instead.
REPLICATE MAGIC ITEM: GOGGLES OF NIGHT Cyborg can create Goggles of Night, letting him see in the dark.
If your DM lets you treat your Hands as weapons drop Mind Shapener and pick up Enhanced Weapon.
ENHANCED WEAPON Add +1 to weapon attack rolls and damage rolls.
Tumblr media
ARMORY
Cyborg needs Heavy Armor to act as his robotic body. Molten Bronze Skin (Plate) from Mythic Odysseys of Theros is a new rare heavy armor that is skin-fitting and can be worn under clothes and doesn’t impose stealth disadvantage, which is important, because Cyborg has never made so much noise that he gave away his party. Because it’s molded to his body, it can’t be removed unless he chooses to doff it. Thus,  we have a human who is basically made of metal. How bout that?
Tumblr media
As the Tank of the party, only three stats really matter to Cyborg’s Build: Strength will determine how much damage he deals with his punches, Constitution will ensure that he has a big pool of health so he doesn’t die all the time like a wimp, and Intelligence because his Eldritch Cannon’s accuracy is aimed like casting a spell. Because he’s heavily armored, his Dexterity won’t affect his AC, and to be fair, Cyborg isn’t very nimble. He seems quite bulky and heavy-footed. All those Fighter ASI give us the kind of stats I’d hoped to give Starfire.
STR 20 DEX 10 CON 20 INT 18 WIS 10 CHA 8
I spent one of his too many ASI to give him Tough to further maximize his HP. You could max out his INT, but as Raven is the party Intelligence caster, it’s valid to want her INT to be higher than Cyborg’s. With a final HP score of 260 and an AC of 19, Cyborg is starting to look a bit like a one-man army. Not only that, but he reduces non-magical melee damage by 3, and adds 1d6 to saving throws, meaning ranged spell attacks are the only great way to hurt him without him possibly reducing the damage.
Tumblr media
HAVE A HEART, TIN-MAN Brute Fighter (16) Artillerist Artificer (4)
STR 20 DEX 10 CON 20 INT 18 WIS 10 CHA 8
ARTIFICER INFUSIONS Armor of Tools Enhanced Armor Enhanced Weapon/Mind Sharpener Replicate Magic Item: Goggles of Night
Between the super charged melee damage, and the fact that Cyborg can also fire his Eldritch Cannon as much as he wants makes this a great combination. He doesn’t need spell slots just to shoot it like some other casters, making it a truly great dual-wielding option. He’s got the HP to shrug off damage, and the power to decimate his opponents. He becomes weaker when he pulls out his cannon in terms of melee combat, but it’s twice as powerful as his two-handed boxing, so it’s a good trade-off.
Tumblr media
Variant Rule: Mythic Odysseys of Theros
Unscarred. As a reaction, reduce damage taken by 1d12 + CON mod once per long rest.
Piety: Purphoros, God of the Forge
+3 Cast Shield of Faith equal to your INT mod per long rest. +10 Cast Heat Metal once per long rest. You have advantage against being knocked prone. +25 Use your reaction to avoid being pushed. +50 Increase your Strength or Intelligence by 2 to a maximum of 22.
Tumblr media
We set out to make Cyborg a high damage DPS striker who could tank a hit like it was nothing, and I think we’ve accomplished that with this build. Some might argue for a 12/8 split, and it’s certainly passable, but Cyborg really doesn’t need it. He’s not a caster. Cyborg is the muscle, and that’s what he’s doing. He’s only an Artificer for the arm cannon, otherwise, he’s primarily a melee fighter, and I don’t want to waste his levels on something that’s not his primary focus.

Ten of Swords- Level Five: Good and Bad Ideas
The world of Swords of Power and Conquest was one Virgil dove head first into, giving his soul and life to the game. He would play whenever he could, and had even decided he wanted to go into game design. At times he had even dreamt of how wonderful it would be to be inside that world for even a moment- until that world became his reality.
The familiar world he had come to love was now a foreign prison, one with no way out.

Level Five: Good and Bad Ideas
To be quite fair a duel was probably the dumbest idea he could have possibly ever had. If they were just talking swords themselves Logan had the upper hand. Sabers were fast and quick, the complete opposite of Virgil’s dadao. Sure he had practiced with it and he certainly was fast enough to fight a monster, but against a skilled player like Logan, he wasn’t so sure. Then there was Logan’s ability to read him on top of all of that- and he was a higher level too. So really the only thing Virgil had on his side were his skills. His skills... his skills which he was still perfecting... this was truly really a horrific idea wasn’t it? Why had Dee let him do this?
Virgil’s gaze glanced over to Dee who was meanwhile still convincing Patton this was a good idea.
“Backing out?” Logan hummed.
Virgil shook his head, “Just wondering if they’re too close.”
“I see. And your assessment?”
Virgil resisted the urge to call the older man an ass in reply.  “They’re fine. Traditional rules?”
“Traditional rules are fine. I wonder if the game still has the duel feature or if we’ll need to time it ourselves.” As Logan paused to scroll through his menu Virgil was still trying to determine how the hell he could beat Logan.
He was also failing at determining how to beat Logan.
Virgil gave a mental scream of frustration. He had proposed this idea to get Logan to loosen up and work with the rest of them, and maybe better understand skills- but he wasn’t sure he could draw the match out that long.
“Ah! It is here.”
Fuck.
Virgil forced himself to take a deep breath as he got into a ready stance and drew his weapon. He could do this. Being evasive was his specialty. He knew how to avoid mobs of players to steal from under their noses, so he could avoid Logan long enough for the other player to be pissed off. Somehow he would manage to be okay. He had escaped the tyren pack on the way to the Tavern with nothing (with Dee’s help) he could definitely do this! Well... maybe. Probably. Most likely...  hopefully.
The moment the duel began Logan was rushing him. Virgil held in a screech as he dodged and god did he hate that smug look on Logan’s face. Dodging would do him no good. He jumped back to put some distance between them but as Logan lunged in he quickly stepped and turned. Logan didn’t hesitate to pivot and strike again but this time Virgil had turned his large blade on the side to act as a shield as he moved. It was a risky thing, holding a two handed sword with one in this manner- but the only advantage Virgil could possibly have over Logan was his strength stat. Given his naturally heavier weapon he needed to put his points into strength, while Logan had focused elsewhere. He backed up again holding the sword in one pained hand while touching the flat part with the palm of his other. And this time when Logan pressed in, Virgil shoved back with all his might. It wasn’t much- not at all. But it was enough to catch Logan off guard causing him to stumble and give Virgil an opening.
His arm was straining from the weight but even so Virgil swung towards Logan’s unguarded torso. For a second Virgil thought he could land a strike. For a moment he thought he could at least land a single strike on his perfect opponent. Just for an instant.
Just as Virgil’s blade should have been smashing into Logan’s ribs- a forceful parry sent shockwaves down his arm causing the weapon to slip from Virgil’s fingers. He didn’t even have time to draw his back up knife before Logan’s sword tip was at his throat. “I understand now,” he said simply. “it is very much like muscle memory.”
“I told you!” Remus shouted from the side.
Virgil bit back a retort. “Congrats.”
“Your strength stat must be quite high,” Logan commented sheathing his blade. “But it could be higher, as could your stamina.”
“I’ll win next time.”
Logan's face didn’t change. “No you won’t.”

“Hello sir, would you like to browse my shop?”
Roman gave Virgil a glare. “You know I hate you right? You know well I just left to get something.”
Virgil blinked. “Hello sir, would you like to browse my shop?”
“Yes!” Roman shouted in annoyance.
Virgil wasn’t fazed as he unlocked the door to allow Roman inside the meeting room but he stayed out. While he did truly want to know what was going on with the intel Dee had gotten, more people had found their way to the Tavern in his absence and they needed to be sold weapons.
“Anthony!” Someone called. “I’d like to shop!”
“I'm very sorry, but the Owner has closed my shop for a private meeting.” He gestured to his right. “But I have some of my new items right here. Would you like to browse?”
“Hell yes.”
Virgil was quite frankly thankful when he was allowed to stop playing NPC for the night. The moment he was through the shop door he sunk into the nearest open chair. “Why is this more exhausting in person?”
“Because when it was on the computer you could multitask,” Dee answered easily.
Virgil gave a sigh, “Where’d you send the others to?”
“Patton’s asleep upstairs, Logan is checking on a loose thread to our lead, and the twins are coordinating with some other players to see if it’s even possible to move forward with construction.”
“For what? I wasn’t here during your little meeting, remember?”
“I want to go all in on a new business venture,” Dee started. “We take this from a tavern, to an inn. But to do so we need more space. We could pay other players for construction, and then when it’s up and running we can charge less than the game inns. And we can also encourage trade.”
Virgil gave a frown, “How long have you been thinking about this?”
Dee gave a chuckle, “A few days. But I had been thinking before that if we are going to do raids for the swords we will need a whole lot of money to fund that and we aren’t a guild with that sort of reserve. So I came up with this idea. I figure we get started with our lead and we have people building while we are gone. I’m sure the players who have been sleeping on the floor will help in return for a bed too.”
“You are always doing so many things at once.”
“I guess,” he shrugged. “If this works out we can expand your shop too. I can hire people to work in your place while we travel. But...”
“But?”
“I guess I should ask if you’re okay with all of this. We built this together after all.”
Virgil rolled his eyes. “Of course I’m fine with it. Why wouldn’t I be? Your crazy scheme to build this place worked so why would I protest expansion? I mean you’ll get a ton more secrets to sell this way.”
“By the way... why did you agree to this in the beginning? This could have very well been a horrible mistake.”
Virgil gave a shrug, “Well initially we had just been looking for a place to build a house for us instead of paying for an inn so I didn’t care. But then when you came to me with this scheme I thought it was crazy. But I also thought if there’s any chance in it working, that you’d be the one who could do it. So, I just trusted you.”
“That’s insane.”
“I guess. But it’s not like we spent a ton of real world money on this so I didn’t mind. Finishing the quests to get the materials we needed was fun all in all.” Virgil gave a slight smile. “And I still remember how you used to scream at the NPC who built things because it didn’t customize right. You kept going on and on like it could understand you.”
“I wanted things to be perfect,” Dee grumbled.
“I know, I know. But you know to this day you still haven’t told me how you managed to get your hands on a guilds teleport point for this place.”
“I’m still sworn to secrecy on that.”
Virgil gave a chuckle, “Sure whatever.”
They lapsed into a comfortable silence just listening to muffled the sound of talking from the main floor.
“Did it really hurt that badly?” Dee asked him suddenly.
Virgil raised an eyebrow, “Hm?”
Dee gave a sigh as he hung his head to look at the table. “Dying I am mean... I know it’s been a while since, but- but I never knew how to ask.”
Virgil hadn’t realized he had been smiling until it slipped from his face at the question. He looked back to Dee’s concerned gaze and gave his friend a slight smile. “Yeah... it did, and then some.”
“Are- are you okay? You... you did die.”
Virgil took a deep breath and looked at the ceiling above him. “I... yeah. Yeah I am.”
Without looking Virgil could tell Dee didn’t believe him, but it was true. Dying had been the worst thing he had ever experienced and yet... somehow he was okay. He wasn’t great or even good, the pain has shaken him to his core. He wasn’t bad either, he didn’t have nightmares or think much of it strangely. So yeah in this moment at least, he was okay.
Logan didn’t come back till early morning, but apparently his news was important enough that Virgil found himself being woken up. He sat up blearily and rubbed at his eyes as Logan spoke before he shook Dee beside him.
“We now know for certain which group has the Sword of Stone,” Logan started when they were all sitting on the bedroom floor.
“Who?” Patton yawned.
“Shadow Dawn.”
“Fuck no,” Roman said loudly.
“Roman,” Patton chided. But the other player didn’t seem to have heard.
“Let’s start elsewhere. I don’t want to deal with them at all.”
“We don’t have any other leads,” Logan frowned.
“Ignore him,” Remus said, rolling his eyes. “They’re one of the many he fucked over.”
“I did not!” Roman yelled back. “They screwed me over!”
“Didn’t you try to steal a commander’s armor after claiming his play style wasn’t fit for it?” Virgil asked in confusion. “And then when he did change it they lost a war because he longer had the underlying skills for it?”
“I-I mean yeah! But- but they left me stranded in a mine!” Roman yelled back.
“After you did all of that to them.”
“W-what do you even know!?”
Virgil gave a slight shrug, “Well I’m a fan of yours... and I used to have a friend in the guild.”
“I’m not doing this,” Roman declared.
“No one is asking you to,” Dee replied. “You don’t have to do anything other than be a good diversion.”
Logan nodded in agreement. “Agreed. I suggest we start with diplomacy and send the twins to speak with them. If it doesn’t work we move to the second part. Virgil, Patton, and I can offer services to them.”
“You three should go ahead of Roman and Remus. Might seem too suspicious otherwise.”
“True.”
“Wait Virgil can’t go,” Roman put in. “Won’t he be recognized? Anthony is pretty easy to remember no? Won't people make the connection to the NPC?”
“I use a different avatar skin as an NPC and I hide my level and player icon with a few glitches I’ve fostered,” Virgil assured him. “So people usually just assume I’m boring because of it and leave me be.”
“...You make that sound like a good thing.”
“And if anyone figures it out I can usually just offer them a good deal to pretend they don’t. It’s easy really.”
“Why was this so time sensitive again?” Remus yawned.
Dee gave a frown, “Isn't it obvious? We aren’t the only ones after the swords.”
“Who else is?” Patton asked worriedly.
“Not sure just yet. But other people have been poking around and soon enough they’ll make the same connections we are. We need to get the Sword of Stone first.”
“But then is it really a good idea to ask Roman and Remus to talk to them? Isn't a surprise better?”
“But if they say yes and join us Patts then we got a whole ass guild on our side,” Remus answered, laying down. “We might only need to sacrifice Roman.”
Roman opened his mouth to most likely shout at his brother, but Remus had already fallen back to sleep. He gave an eye roll. “This is still a bad idea. SD will shoot me on sight.”
Logan didn’t bat an eye, “You have enough gold for revival.”
Roman gave a groan and collapsed onto the floor. “This is gonna suck.”

She can be blunt sometimes, throwing out barbed remarks when annoyed and pushed past her limits; this most likely happens when someone insults her dorm and her friends. She also has no qualms with chiding or insulting someone if she feels that they are underperforming, or if they are not meeting her standards. However, if asked to, or if the person in question looks particularly upset, Ruby will apologise.
During the rare times that she engages in battle, Ruby is brutal, and she seems almost like a different, darker, person. She becomes sadistic and cold-hearted, going berserk and destroying everything and everyone in her path. A smile will play upon her face as she toys with her opponent, her laughter ringing out high and clear over the sounds of battle. It should be noted that hearing Theo Westcott’s voice is able to snap her out of her bloodlust in battle.
Alignment: Neutral Good
Strengths: Curious, loyal, optimistic, honest, brave, determined, energetic, playful, high-spirited, affectionate
Flaws: Reckless, impulsive, little regard for her own safety, blunt, sadistic in battle, sharp-tongued, has trouble understanding people at times
𝓟𝓪𝓼𝓽
An immortal being, originally from Munchkin land, Ruby was worshipped by a coven of dark witches as their deity and her powers used to solidify their control over the land. Ruby would grow up in a sheltered environment; everything she wanted was given to her, but she was essentially imprisoned in the house and in her room, looking longingly upon the outside world, wishing to experience life as she knew it.
This changed when the coven was overthrown; Ruby would then be transferred into the care of a coven of good witches, who would then raise her as their own, acting as her guardians, teaching her magic spells and social etiquette. Ruby would be later sent to Night Raven College to keep her safe from the other dark witches, who wish to use her for their own nefarious purposes once again, and so that she would be able to have a somewhat normal life.
However, Ruby has only a vague memory of her time as a deity; she only remembers bars on the walls of her room, along with the smell of incense.
𝓢𝓹𝓮𝓵𝓵𝓼
Ruby has an immense amount of magical power, although she very rarely fights, and even more rarely, fights to her fullest capacity. She is fond of using her magic to manipulate crystals. Mages use crystal magic for its defensive power, creating walls with high resistance, and its offensive power, creating large crystal pillars to injure opponents.
Crystal Flowers: Upon casting the spell, a series of sharp crystals rise from the ground, forming the shape of a flower. The crystal is sharp enough to easily cut through the user's targets. Additionally, the user can summon the crystals in any location they desire. Due to the sheer size of the spell, the user can attack multiple targets at once.
Crystal Shield: A crystal barrier is manifested, protecting the caster from harm.
Unique Magic: There’s No Place Like Home. When this magic is activated, the user can manipulate space by creating portals. In battle, it can be used to return attacks back to an opponent, to move allies into advantageous positions, and to warp enemies out of battle or into attacks.
𝓡𝓮𝓵𝓪𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷𝓼𝓱𝓲𝓹𝓼
Theos Westcott (gtfolingling): Ruby is completely undeterred by his reputation and powers, seeing him as her dorm head and a good friend as well. Her smiles come free and easy when she’s around him, and she tries to rope him into joining in the activities and fun, inviting him along to partake in her mischief. Ruby will even listen to his muttering, nodding along, and adding her own input whenever she can. On nights that she has trouble sleeping, Ruby will pad out of her room to see if Theo is awake and gaming; if he is, she’ll plop down beside him with a yawn and keep him company into the early hours of the morning.
Evett Easten (gtfolingling): Ruby sees him as an older brother figure of sorts, pouting when he tells her to stop fooling around. Outwardly, she’ll claim that his nagging is annoying, but she inwardly finds herself relishing in the attention, and the feeling of being cared for and looked out for. She often comes to him to request help for household chores, or to ask him questions about the school, and humans in general. She’s also learned a few curse words, thanks to being around him for lengthy periods of time, though she doesn’t use vulgarities as frequently as he does.
Mika Norwurde (gtfolingling): She enjoys accompanying him on his pranks, and often partakes in the chaos that he creates, laughing right along as she watches the situation. Ruby finds it easy to get pulled along into his pace, and considers him a good friend, along with a partner in crime. Many of his videos and pictures feature her, either in the background or as the main attraction.
Primrose Ochre (toadodoki): Seeing as how they both hail from the same land, it is inevitable that Prim has heard rumours about Ruby. Ruby, however, has no memory of her time with the dark coven, and can’t quite understand why her dorm mate is so wary of her, though she does her best to befriend Prim, being quite persistent when she wants to be. Ruby also does her best to watch out for Prim, and is all too eager to fight in her place, or stand up for her if need be, knowing how unassertive she can be.
Madoc Vandris (xvi-jumper): She finds herself being unable to relate to his family struggles, but at the same time, a small part of her finds herself sympathetic and understanding. His calm presence might even rub off on Ruby, who is practically a ball of energy at the best of times. She would also probably enjoy watching him use his magic, and watching him bring objects to life.
Lilia Vanrouge: She feels a sense of familiarity with him, but can’t fathom why; though, unbeknownst to her, Lilia has seen her before as well, during her days as a deity. She finds his company pleasant enough and can be seen in the Diasomnia dorm with him, as they talk late into the night.
Malleus Draconia: The most powerful mage in the school, this fact has not escaped Ruby, who is eager to pit her powers against his. Other than that, she is on rather good terms with him, considering how often she visits the Diasomnia dorm.
𝓣𝓻𝓲𝓿𝓲𝓪
Much like Lilia, there are pictures of her in the history textbook; although she looks wildly different. Her eyes are dark and sad, and she seems a lifeless doll, dressed in gold silks trimmed with lace, and her hair pulled back into an elaborate knot at the base of her neck.
Her most prized possession is the black ribbon she’s always seen with. She promised that she would be good whenever she wears the ribbon, and, as such, takes it off before embarking on mischief.
She has the ability to convince people into doing things by using her cute “puppy dog eyes”.
She is also bad at doing household chores and cooking.
She is also bad at doing household chores and cooking, although she claims that Lilia has been teaching her how to cook.
She likes collecting hair ribbons, even if she doesn’t wear all of them.
Her shoes are all in varying shades of red.
She is afraid of ghosts.
She enjoys leaping from rooftop to rooftop. Her body is also very flexible, and she is capable of doing somersaults and backflips with ease.
Due to her immortal status, she places little concern on her own welfare, seeing as how she can heal quickly. That being said, she has no qualms about using her own body as a shield if need be.
Theos and Evett both call her ‘Munchkin’, to which Ruby responds with puffed cheeks, and an angry pout.
The nickname has started spreading around the school, much to Ruby’s dismay. However, she absolutely refuses to answer when other people call her that. Her other nickname is “The Smiling Monster”, owing to how she always smiles, even in the thick of battle.
She has trouble sleeping at night; she can never remember her dreams, only that she wakes up frightened, on the verge of tears and drenched in sweat.

𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡!𝐛𝐭𝐬;
Tumblr media
bts but as witches in a coven. discuss
Tumblr media
𝐬𝐞𝐨𝐤𝐣𝐢𝐧: the supreme
ok not quite but he’s the most experienced in magic out of all the boys
his mother was a witch and she taught him everything he needed to know from birth to adulthood
his whole family is blessed with magic save for a few who didn’t get the gene but every family reunion they all dote on jin and talk about how powerful he’s become and how proud they are of him
the coven house where all of the boys stay is actually jin’s ancestor’s home from a long time ago
the place has brought up witches of all generations and jin was very eager to inherit it
while there’s definitely a lack of witches he’s been able to recruit, he loves his family of six so it doesn’t really bother him
he acts like he’s all serious but in reality he’s always casting spells on the youngins as tests (read: for fun)
jimin: why tf did you give me green skin
jin: if you had been paying attention during lessons you would know how to fix it :)
has definitely said this out of context more than once: ”any witch worth a broom handle knows how to get rid of poisonous snakes! you know back in my day…”
wears the flashiest outfits, but little do people know that they’re all homemade. he has a serious creative eye and seeks to make what simple human designers wish they could (taehyung is very eager to learn this talent from him)
goes all out on halloween with this talent too, creating uber realistic costumes
no he didn’t make a costume out of real human bones that year he went as a scarily realistic skeleton what are you talking about
no graves were robbed in the making of this outfit
if you couldn’t tell, his specialty is in glamours
honestly the guy should just tattoo “i’m a witch” across his forehead, he makes it so damn obvious
he openly practices magic too like it gives yoongi stress pains bc!! there’s still ppl who would very much like to burn witches still to this day!!! where is the self-preservation!!
jin doesn’t care. he’ll burn them right back. checkmate bitch
honestly charms anyone that comes in contact with him which is one of the things he never has to try at
the guys think he uses magic to do it but he’s honestly just, as jin would say, “born with it”
Tumblr media
𝐲𝐨𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐢: the right hand man
*namjoon voice* and who do we got here right now??? ˢᵘᵍᵃ!!!
when it comes to magic, yoongi is pretty neutral
an awfully interesting feeling to have given that seokjin has appointed him the heir of the coven in case anything happens to him
he’s not obsessed with magic like tae, hobi or kook
he doesn’t spend his time learning everything about it like namjoon
and he’s not playful with it like jimin and jin
yoongi just… acknowledges it. its like it exists as something he can do and he’s proud but he doesn’t really care if that makes sense
most of his friends outside of the coven are human too and he has no reservations about telling them what he is bc if they cause trouble he is more than prepared to take care of it
they’re usually like “wow so cool! i wish i was a witch” but yoongi really doesn’t care lmao
with or without magic, yoongi is the same: he loves music, he loves making music, and he loves being a musician
yoongi, however, is guilty of having used magic to make his music just right before
sometimes a note just doesn’t sit with him right and it’s driving him insane
or maybe the bass doesn’t hit hard enough
he charms his music in a way that when one listens to it, they feel exactly what yoongi wants them to feel
people are always telling him he has a real gift in music and while he most certainly does, he feels he has to give credit to his magic for helping him along sometimes
but then seokjin will be like “isn’t magic your talent too? aren’t you just exercising it when you charm your music? it’s not like you can only make music well. you should give yourself props for your magic too”
it’s just. weird to him because he’s seen how much magic can corrupt people in much higher positions than himself and it’s Terrifying
he wants to know that no matter what he makes, it’s his and his alone, not attributed to any otherworldly advantage
this just kind of contributes to his need to be as detached from magic as possible
he’s too cheap to buy one of those coffee makers that automatically start brewing at a certain time in the morning and just uses magic to do it instead
“yoongi do you want me to buy you a new coffee maker for your birthday? they have ones that do all the work for you now-” “no”
he has to be extra, okay namjoon
jimin teases him sometimes but yoongi knows it’s all out of love
jimin understands yoongi in a way, and while the others are always like “yoongi you should have more fun with your magic!” jimin is always like “no no no, let him be”
besides yoongi could probably smoke all of them in a battle of magic if it came down to it lol
Tumblr media
𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐨𝐤: the perfectionist
HERE HE IS!!! ITS HE
hoseok is probably one of the most talented witches in the coven
hoseok is a perfectionist to a t so if he feels insecure about how he’s doing a certain spell he will do it over and over and over until he’s got it right which makes him a pretty formidable opponent
like even the boys wouldn’t go up against him bc they know they’re just gonna get their ass handed to them
he’s a sweetie tho and very light-hearted and he never lets his power get to his head
he mainly uses it to bother the others tbh
also uses magic to give himself and the boys cool ass hair colors
currently he’s obsessed with this orange he’s got going on
calls it “pumpkin spice” bc it angers yoongi
“it really brings out the burnt sunset hues of a pumpkin ya know? or like a mix of changing fall colors, like golden crisp and warm crimson” “it’s fucking orange” yoongi can be heard chiming in from somewhere else in the house
but don’t get me wrong, hoseok loves himself some yoongi and vice versa
yoongi taught hoseok directly bc yoongi was the one that found hoseok
he was just an average college student and wasn’t really finding a will to live outside of paying off his student debts
he didn’t know what he wanted to do with his life and was pretty dead inside, working at a cafe and serving coffee to other dead inside college students when yoongi came in and sensed his strong magical aura
yoongi kinda forced hoseok’s magic out of him by tossing a cup of steaming hot coffee to the floor, causing hoseok to freeze the entire cafe in time, save for the two of them. yoongi told him what he was and the rest was history
now that it’s been so long hoseok still gets upset that yoongi was willing to break one of the cafe’s mugs to prove a point
because of course, when time unfroze, the mug fuckin shattered all over the place what a fuckin jerk guess who’s going to have to clean that up does he really have no respect for retail workers seriou
seokjin also was opposed to yoongi’s method but since it resulted in hobi joining their coven, he can’t be too mad
it was hoseok’s natural ability that yoongi was able to help hone, and when hoseok found a love for it, he took it upon himself to be the absolute best witch he could be
hoseok’s power of stopping time is uniquely his own and he’s worked hard to perfect it
sometimes he just stops time to stop it
hob: *freezes a movie theater right before something dramatic happens on screen* hold on yall I gotta piss real quick
freezing time is also super helpful during *cough* stressful exams* cough*
Tumblr media
𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐣𝐨𝐨𝐧: the scholar
he knows…. everything
not only did he do the reading, he did an 8 page analysis on it and corrected a few mistakes too
namjoon was aware of his witchy nature even from the moment he was a little kid, and his parents were both human and a bit scared for him since they didn’t know how to handle it, but they gave him the option of pursuing magic or not. they made sure to do all their own research into where witches could go to hone their craft just in case
in the end, namjoon grew curious and started reading books about magic and magical things
tho he didn’t actually start using his power until his mid teens
by then he was a bit shaky with it, but he knew a lot and was very determined so he got the hang of it very quickly
rarely uses his magic outside of it being necessary tho bc he’s gone so long without having to use it that he doesn’t rely on it for anything
he also likes to be independent from his magic in a way
while magic is very much a part of him and his being, he doesn’t want it to be like a crutch, you know? his biggest fear is losing his magic, bc he’s heard it can happen
he’s also aware that some witches lose important life skills and miss out on opportunities to build their character bc they’re so used to being able to just magic their way out of a situation
went from student to teacher real quick
teaches the other boys how to properly say incantations
“its levios-ah not levios-ar”
actually?? a pretty scary dude when it comes to using his magic for real
don’t put him in a situation where someone is getting hurt because he will not go easy on the aggressor. the other boys can attest to this too, having been saved by him far too many times than is acceptable in namjoon’s eyes
basically dont fuck with namjoon’s boys or u gon die
does cute things for the boys on their birthdays with magic
one time taehyung was sad that it wasn’t snowing on his birthday so namjoon made it snow for hours
may have fucked up the climate a lil bit
yoongi almost lost a toe
namjoon frequents a library and whenever a lil kid is struggling to reach a book he uses his magic to drift the book down to the little kid and when the kid looks at him in awe he just presses his finger to his lips and winks at them
flirts using his extreme wicca knowledge, of which is either a major turn off or a major turn on. you decide
Tumblr media
𝐣𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧: the reluctant
jimin loves magic, but it wasn’t always like that
jimin kinda struggled with accepting his magical abilities at a young age bc he was really confused
like why wasn’t he just like everyone else? why did he have to be a witch? why did he have to have magic when he could’ve just been normal?
he often rejected it, never bothering to learn anything even to impress the family at reunions
but as he grew older, his parents grew worried he’d hate his magic and never use it again, putting him in a vulnerable position if his magic were ever to just come out when jimin isn’t in a place to control it, so they let him meet a slightly older witch that could help mentor him
his parents would’ve done it but jimin hardly ever listened to his parents about magic and they wanted to show him there were witches his age that were amazing people and embraced it, that it didn’t take away from jimin’s life but in fact added to it
in comes yoongi
yoongi, at first, really pities jimin
he understands the struggle between wanting to be normal and dealing with a part of his identity that won’t ever go away
where yoongi is concerned, that struggle for him was that he wanted to be himself regardless of being talented in magic. jimin... just hates it
but then jimin starts bashing magic and witches and he’s about to get angry at his parents for trying to force him into being a witch when yoongi just,,, slaps him upside the head
jimin’s shocked and yoongi is just like “respect your parents kid, they’re looking out for you. just because you don’t use your magic doesn’t mean people won’t know you’re a witch. its dangerous for a witch to go around with magic and not know how to use it”
jimin is shocked. he never thought of it that way
jimin feels embarrassed all of a sudden and apologizes and then yoongi cracks a smile and he’s like “no biggie kid, i’m just here to teach you the basics of magic and then i’ll be out of your hair”
jimin finds that learning magic with yoongi is really fun and soon he’s asking to be apart of the coven and embracing being a witch
he becomes carefree with it, like it’s another part of him, and he’s still kinda inexperienced, but he’s learning a lot from yoongi and namjoon
loves playing with temperature
the boys make him freeze their drinks for him, or ask him to heat up some popcorn while they’re all sprawled out on the couch on movie night bc no one feels like waiting two minutes for it to cook in the microwave
makes the water in the shower cold whenever one of the boys is taking way too fucking long in there which is Everyday
also jimin: *hitting on someone at the bar* *makes the room slightly warmer* “is it hot in here or is it just you?”
relates everything he learns back to naruto in some way, much to everyone’s complete and utter confusion
he just really kins the guy i guess
100% owns every single witch pun shirt known to man
“witch please” “witches do it better” “this is my resting witch face”
jungkook: by all means jimin why don’t you just burn us all at the stake yourself
it’s ok tho bc it’s his own little way of owning his identity, and if you want to avoid having your fingers frozen off, you’ll be sure not to step to him any kind of way
Tumblr media
𝐭𝐚𝐞𝐡𝐲𝐮𝐧𝐠: the transcendent
my favorite witch!!! i wrote this whole thing for him
tae is like jin in that his whole family is magical and he grew up surrounded by magic his whole life
in fact, he’s so familiar with magic that he’s kind of sick of it (no he isn’t (most of the time))
taehyung is unique with his magic bc he’s actually able to transcend realms oooh~
the information on how many realms and parallel universes and such are limited as hell so taehyung actively helps broaden that knowledge as he travels, a very Dangerous and Scary job to anybody else
but to him he’s like!! fuck yeah astral projection!
basically, he’s able to put himself into a deep sleep where he moves through different realms, some more or less magical than the others
he’s so good at it that he can project himself into someone else’s dreams too
he’s basically capable of seeing more than most magical beings, and he can perceive spirits easily, as well as being able to actually see a magical aura around someone
so for instance, if a witch who didn’t know they were a witch walked into a bar, he’d know what they were instantly. besides the general intuitive feeling that most witches get, he can see the auras physically, like swarming tendrils of smoke unique to every person
each aura feels and looks different than others which makes it easy for him to point out shape shifters and vampires and werewolves and all the other guys pretty easily
bc of this ability, taehyung also likes to mess with the boys like everyone else lol
“tae, i just saw the most beautiful-” “they’re actually an ogre in disguise” “WHAT”
“man my english teacher is a witch” “she actually is”
in case you couldn’t tell tae’s favorite victim is jungkook
casually tells people he’s a witch just for the #reactions
if you’re wondering, no. nobody in this coven cares about keeping this shit a secret
since he’s more sensitive to dreaming, a lot of his dreams leave him incredibly emotional because sometimes he really is there
he once had a dream where all magical beings were universally accepted in the world and were loved and happy and woke up sobbing into jimin’s lap
also nightmares take a HUGE toll on him so his sleep pattern is fucked for real
usually ends up eating cake with jin in the dining room at four am and talking about life together to get the nightmares off tae’s mind
tae uses his magic on humans in a different way. like he doesn’t prank them that much, but rather manipulates their moods. he tries to charm anyone he comes in contact with to make them happy or to make them giggly
he wants to use his magic for good, because it often leaves a very painful burden on him in turn
Tumblr media
𝐣𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐤𝐨𝐨𝐤: the prodigy
honestly i feel like if jungkook was a witch he’d probably be an underdeveloped one, you feel?
he finds out his power late bc either his family didn’t know (they’re all human) or they just didn’t tell him in hopes of him never becoming one
but jungkook is being bullied by some guys in his grade and they corner him after school one day and jungkook gets so frustrated that he just,,, makes them all start uncontrollably burping
as dumb as it is, those kids never bother jungkook again
when he does get a hang of it, jungkook probably uses his magic for fun more often than not
jungkook is recruited by jin for this very reason. he catches jungkook messing with old people at the park on his afternoon runs and he’s like this kid is such a brat. i want him
jungkook is SUCH a fast learner holy shit
he goes to namjoon for every little question, to the point where namjoon is positive he’s become a better witch simply because jungkook has prepared him for any fuckin scenario known to man
he also makes himself float upside down in the kitchen at night so when hoseok comes down for a glass of water he almost pisses himself
“haha did i scare you”
cue hoseok making jungkook fall down as he mumbles “little shit” under his breath
halloween is his favorite time of year and he likes to pull harmless pranks on the kiddies while scaring the mean teenagers ruining all of the children’s fun
like he sees this guy in a deformed mask holding a plastic knife about to scare a little boy so Jungkook just gives the dude a wedgie with his magic
all the kids are laughing at him and jungkook just smirks
honestly he doesn’t like reading about magic as much as he likes just doing it from intuition/namjoon’s instruction. he’s a lot like hoseok in that he has a lot of natural talent but not a lot of proper training when he first starts honing his ability
since jin yoongi and namjoon are in charge of teaching magic they all hound on him like “did u do the reading”
jungkook maybe glosses over everything and then just over-performs as compensation
they get on him abt it but there’s no lying about it, jungkook is a strong witch on his own
he hasn’t gotten a special manifestation of his magic Just Yet but he only gets stronger as he goes. the more he applies himself, the stronger he grows

NOT My Hero Academia: Part 1 – Ch.11
Even after his feet were unfrozen, part of the stage was still covered in ice. So there was a short break.
When Izuku returned to the stands, Iida called out to him, "Midoriya! Congratulations on your win!" Izuku faked enthusiasm as best he could, "Right. Thanks!" "How did you win against Todoroki's ice, anyway?"
Still wearing a fake smile, Izuku sat down beside Iida. Before speaking, he went over how much Master said he was allowed to share.
"Well… I knew my physical equipment and abilities wouldn't count for much against Todoroki's speed and quirk… So I dodged as soon as the match began and shot him with a bullet filled with a potent knockout gas!" Iida's face was shocked. "They approved that kind of equipment?!" "Uh… well…" Izuku looked away from him toward the arena, "They said- as long as I provided my own equipment, and as long as the gun was incapable of firing real bullets, it was fine!" "Huh… I suppose that makes sense. They allow Aoyama to use his belt, as it's a necessary support item. With you having no quirk, any equipment you normally use would be necessary to even the playing field!"
'He's right… So why does it feel like that comparison is wrong?' Izuku looked back at Iida. The other boy looked… '… "contemplative" isn't the right word…'
Already, the ice was almost melted. "So now your in the final four," Iida said, "I hope my match against Hatsume… was informative for you." Izuku couldn't help noticing how the look on Iida's face changed when he said that. 'Oh, of course…! He's upset that he lost!'
Hoping to cheer Iida up, Izuku switched topics. "Yeah, it was… Hey! Do you know if your brother Ingenium has been watching you this whole time, Iida?" "He called me earlier, but he was busy with work… I'm actually glad though," Iida smiled warmly, "Even after coming this far, I still can't say I'm number one yet." Because of that smile, Izuku couldn't tell whether the change of topic was a success… or not.
Soon, though, they were distracted by the next few matches. Izuku pulled his notebook back out.
Tokoyami barely needed to put any effort into his fight against Ashido. It was practically over the same moment it began, and the tournament moved on to the next match.
Kirishima lasted better against Bakugo than Izuku would've thought possible. His hardening seemed strong enough to stand up to anything Bakugo's explosions could dish out. Meanwhile, Kirishima was wearing Bakugo down with a relentless barrage of physical blows. However, Bakugo was ultimately victorious, wearing Kirishima down, in turn, with some rapid-fire, weaker explosions. "AND WITH THAT, WE'VE GOT OUR FINAL FOUR!!" 'Looks like Bakugo was playing the long-game from the beginning…' Izuku scratched some notes down onto the paper in front of him, 'Since, for the moment, Kirishima can only turn his quirk either all-on or all-off, Bakugo forced Kirishima to keep it on.' Izuku sweated, once again realizing exactly what he could be up against in the final round.
But first, he had someone else to deal with. Someone with a distinctly different advantage over him. An advantage that almost had him more worried.
Unpredictability.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
There was another quick break before the Final Four matchups. Then…
"BOTH OF THESE COMPETITORS HAVE ALL SORTS OF GADGETS UP THEIR SLEEVES. IT'S A BATTLE OF EQUIPMENT AND SKILL! IZUKU MIDORIYA VS. MEI HATSUME!! START!"
Izuku tensed, wary and unwilling to make the first move. "Well, this is a little awkward. And I'm afraid it won't boost your reputation, either, but…" Hatsume said, rocking on her heels, "I aaactually was planning to forfeit during my match with Iida, once I was done showing off my babies… But Iida got blown away before I could!
"Anyway, what I'm trying to say is…" She walked over to the boundary line, "they've seen it all now. There's nothing left to show, so I'm out!" She stepped over the line.
Present Mic's voice reflected everyone's shock, "HATSUME HAS STEPPED OUT OF THE RING!" Izuku blinked, relaxing his stance. Was this really happening? "MIDORIYA MOVES ON WITHOUT LIFTING A FINGER!"
The audience booed as he walked back inside. Why did this outcome make him even more nervous? '… Because next… I'm fighting either Tokoyami… or Bakugo,' he swallowed, 'And I'm pretty sure I know which it's going to be.'
.
What made his remaining uncertainty worse, though, was that -- while he couldn't see what was happening from the prep room -- he could still hear Present Mic's commentary… "BAKUGO'S UNSTOPPABLE!! TOKOYAMI'S COME THIS FAR WITH A SERIES OF WINS THANKS TO HIS NEAR-INVINCIBLE QUIRK, BUT… NOW HE'S TOTALLY ON THE DEFENSIVE!! HE CAN'T EVEN GET CLOSE!!"
'He could still turn this around if Bakugo doesn't figure out his secret weakness.' "HE'S BEHIND HIM!!" 'Who's behind who?!' "ALWAYS WITH THESE DUST CLOUDS! WHAT'S HAPPENED DOWN THERE?!"
There was silence… … Then Midnight's voice, "Tokoyami has surrendered! Bakugo wins!" "LOOKS LIKE OUR FINAL MATCH IS SET. MIDORIYA VERSUS BAKUGO!!"
Izuku got up.
'I can't even leave for the arena yet…!'
There was still Bakugo's prep time before the match.
He started pacing instead. 'So… it's us two…
'…How's this gonna go?'
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Meanwhile, in the stands…
.
"Poor Tokoyami…" Uraraka said. Iida agreed. "Observe and learn now, and we'll get him back later!" "Right!" She shouted, clenching her fists and looking determined.
Suddenly, Iida's entire body started vibrating. "Whoa! What's that?!" "My phone," Iida replied calmly. But when he saw the caller I.D.-
-he decided to walk away before answering. "Hello. I lost, mother… I apologize if I've disappointed you…" "No! This isn't about that… Oh, Tenya… Stay calm and listen to me… it's Tensei… Your brother…" Iida froze. That tone of voice… and his brother… What was she…?
"A villain got him…"
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Hosu City
.
A lone, masculine figure perched on top of a water tank on a roof.
"You people haven't realized… How they're mired in vanity and hypocrisy…" they spoke to no one, or perhaps the crowds below, who were too far away to hear them, "hahh… These so-called heroes… in this twisted society. "But I… will make you realize…" They were interrupted, "We meet at last, Hero Killer… Stain!"
Stain swung the sword on his back in the voice's direction. If its owner had been corporeal, he probably would have killed them. "Oh, please, relax… We're on the same side… You're already quite infamous. I really wanted to meet you." The owner of the voice appeared to be a living shadow. But out of that shadow came another figure.
One that didn't have any eyes.
"May we have a moment of your time?"

Back at the Sports Festival
.
Still waiting in his prep room, Izuku was sitting in his chair again, nervously tapping his foot and staring at the page of instructions and predictions in front of him -- when the door flew open.
Bakugo stood there, his foot in the air where the door used to be. "Huh?" He lowered his foot, his confusion turning immediately into anger, "Huh?! Why're you in here, stupid Deku?!" Izuku, despite his previous nerves… 'Now that he's here… in front of me…'
Without any emotion in his voice, Izuku said, "This is prep room two." "Huh?!" Bakugo glanced back outside the door, "Prep room… Ah, crap."
Izuku looked back at his notes -- but he wasn't seeing them. 'What's with my reactions lately? …Is it a side effect of that plant? … Maybe it lasts longer than I thought…?' "Hey, I mean I get that I walked into the wrong room… But giving your final opponent the cold shoulder? What's the big idea? Look me in the eye, Stupid Deku!"
Izuku looked up at him, that question still in his mind. Then it occurred to him… "We've been friends since we were kids, right? And you said that I've been acting weird… right?" Bakugo looked taken aback for a split second -- then the anger came back, even fiercer than before. "You damned nerd… Who the hell cares?!" He kicked the table over, and Izuku's notebook went flying. "All your stupid plans… You're asking me about your damned feelings? Who cares?! Just come at me with all you've got."
He walked over to the door, "And I'll crush you like the damned PEBBLE you are!" As the sound of Bakugo's footsteps faded, Izuku picked up his notes. He stared at his plans for the final match. '"With all I've got," huh? …Alright.
'I suppose… There's nothing else left TO do.'

PHILIPPINES vs THAILAND BADMINTON MEN'S SINGLE QUARTER FINALS SEA GAMES 2019
Tumblr media
COURT DIMENSION
At the Muntinlupa Sports Complex, there was a badminton battle between Thailand and the Philippines. A measurement of 13.4m long and 6.1m wide is required for the badminton court. The court is designated 5.18 m wide for singles. The lines marking the court are easy to discern and are white or yellow in color. The lines have a width of 40mm. A tribunal can only be marked out for singles. The long service lines have become the back boundary lines and the posts or the material strips representing them are placed on the side lines. The maximum diagonal length of the entire court is 14.366m.
Post
The posts are 1.55m high from the court's surface and when the net is strained, they remain vertical. Regardless of whether singles or doubles are played, the posts are put on the two-side sides. The posts or assists must not reach beyond the side lines into the court. If it is not feasible to have posts on the side lines, by using thin posts or strips of 40 mm wide material, fixed to the side lines and rising vertically to the net cord, some method may be used to show the location of the side lines where they pass under the net.
Net
The depth of the net is 760mm and a minimum of 6.1m deep. At the middle of the court, the top of the net from the surface of the court is 1.524m and 1.55m over the side lines for doubles. There must be no holes between the posts and the ends of the net. The complete depth of the net at the ends is bound to the posts, if necessary.
EQUIPMENT
Badminton Racket
Modern Badminton Rackets are light in weight and don’t weigh more than 100 grams. The frame of the Racket can be made of common metals like steel or aluminium. Sometimes rackets are made of alloys, tough carbon fiber, ceramic, or boron. Its length does not exceed 680mm and width does not exceed 230 mm.
Tumblr media
Shuttlecock
Sixteen feathers fixed in a cork base enveloped in a thin leather sheet make a shuttlecock. Interestingly, the best Badminton Shuttlecocks are made from feathers from the wing of a goose. The shuttle weighs between 4.74 to 5.50 grams.
Badminton Shoes
A good pair of Badminton Shoes provide good grip, cushioning and some flexibility at the forefoot.
Tumblr media
Badminton Accessories
The commonly used Badminton Accessories are Grip, Badminton Clothes, Socks, Wrist Band and Head Band.
Grip
A grip made of cloth or synthetic fiber absorbs sweat and provides you a drier feel
Badminton Clothes
Comfortable T-shirts and shorts, that don’t hinder your movement are ideal to play Badminton. A cotton round-neck or a collar t-shirts with a pair of light shorts are usually preferred.
Socks
Wear a pair of thick cotton socks as they help to absorb sweat. They also prevent your feet from slipping inside your shoes. Avoid wearing Nylon socks that don’t absorb sweat.
Wrist Bands
If you perspire a lot, you may consider getting a wrist band that prevents your sweat from flowing to your racket handle.
Head Bands
Wear a Head Band if you wear spectacles. It prevents your lenses from getting wet and also stops the sweat and hair from getting into your eyes while playing.
BASIC SKILLS
Tumblr media
Grip – Having a proper grip in badminton is essential since the correct grip will allow you to have more control and will help you dictate where you place your shot.
Tumblr media
Serve – This is a necessary skill that is needed to be mastered since having a good serve is like having a high tendency to get points and can give you advantages during the rally.
Tumblr media
Footwork – It is a vital skill in badminton. It consists of stepping, crossover, stride, dogtrot, and jumping. Each set of footwork is generally started from the center of the court. It is arguably the essential skill in badminton because it allows players to move efficiently around the pitch while being able to meet and hit the shuttle with proper balance, timing, and technique.
Tumblr media
Stance – It is a way on how a player stands when retrieving individual shots from their opponent.
Tumblr media
Stroke – It is a skill that a player needs to execute individual shots. This involves the swing motion of a player’s racket arm. Strokes are fundamental to becoming a good badminton player and executing superior shots.
TECHNICAL AND TACTICAL SKILLS
From Thailand. Thailand is portrayed by a great badminton player called Kantaphon Wangcharoen. In the game, he displayed immense technological and tactical abilities. In his attack, he displayed extraordinary badminton forehand shots and also his badminton jump smash is probably the wonderful thing to watch as Kantaphon showed an aesthetic movement from reaching a high point and smashing the racket very hard to let the shuttle cock fly to the opponent like a rocket, making it difficult to counter the attack. In addition, a backhand drop shot was also used by Kantaphon, which helps him because the opponent has a hard time countering his attack.
Philippines. A famous badminton player named Ros Leonard Pedrosa represents the Philippines. With his numerous tactical and technical abilities, he showed his pure ability and talent in the game. He showed some strong defensive abilities that were required to survive the game against Kantaphon's power attacks. In addition, he created an improvement in his range of shots that produced more effective hits due to his satisfactory defensive skills. Ros Leonard is an all-inclusive player who has genuinely played out his heart and shown enthusiasm for his favorite sport. Ros Leonard just had a lack of self-confidence that carried him down and a hindrance towards the game for his progress.
RULES OF THE GAME
A player must wait until his opponent is ready before serving. If the opponent attempts a return then he is ruled having been ready.
The feet of both players must remain in a stationary position until the serve is made. Your feet can not be touching the line at this time.
It is not a fault if you miss the shuttle while serving.
The shuttle cannot be caught and slung with the racket.
A player cannot hold his racket near the net to ward off a downward stroke by his opponent or to interfere with his racket.
Faults
The shuttle, at the instant of being hit is higher than the servers waist or the head of the racket is higher than the servers racket hand.
The shuttle does not land in the correct service court.
The server's feet are not in the service court or if the feet of the receiver are not in the court diagonally opposite the server.
The server steps forward as he/she serves.
Any player balking or feinting his opponent before serve or during serve.
A serve or shot that lands outside the court boundaries, passes under or through the net, touches any other obstructions or a players body or clothing. The boundary and service lines are considered in play.
The shuttle in play is struck before it crosses the net to the striker's side of the net. You may follow through over the net.
A player touching the net or its supports with his body or racket while the shuttle is in play.
Hitting the shuttle twice in succession by a player or team.
Scoring System
A match consists of the best of 3 games of 21 points.
Every time there is a serve – there is a point scored.
The side winning a rally adds a point to its score.
At 20 all, the side which gains a 2 point lead first, wins that game.
At 29 all, the side scoring the 30th point, wins that game.
The side winning a game serves first in the next game.
Interval and Change of Ends
A 1 minute interval between each game is allowed.
In the third game, players change ends when the leading score reaches 11 points.
Singles
At the beginning of the game (0-0) and when the server’s score is even, the server serves from the right service court. When the server’s score is odd, the server serves from the left service court.
If the server wins a rally, the server scores a point and then serves again from the alternate service court.
If the receiver wins a rally, the receiver scores a point and becomes the new server. They serve from the appropriate service court – left if their score is odd, and right if it is even.
Doubles
A side has only one ‘set’.
The service passes consecutively to the players as shown in the diagram.
At the beginning of the game and when the score is even, the server serves from the right service court. When it is odd, the server serves from the left court.
If the serving side wins a rally, the serving side scores a point and the same server serves again from the alternate service court.
If the receiving side wins a rally, the receiving side scores a point. The receiving side becomes the new serving side.
The players do not change their respective service courts until they win a point when their side is serving.
HOW TO OFFICIATE THE GAME
Line Judges
There are four line-judges (two for each side of the court positioned at the baseline) who indicate whether a shuttlecock landed ‘in’ or 'out’ on the line assigned. Hence, they sit beside the badminton court (right in front of every in/out lines) to determine whether the shuttle is inside or outside the boundaries of the court.
Umpire
The main judge for the particular badminton game. The power to countermand any decisions made by the service judge or line judges is in the umpire’s hands. Furthermore, this is the person who guarantees that the badminton game is run smoothly and prevent any players from delaying the game play. Whenever a player requests to change the shuttle, the umpire will need to approve that the change could be made. Moreover, the umpire also looks out for faults committed around the net area such as whether a player touched the net when returning the shuttle.
Service Judge
The role of the service judge is to control the player that is serving in order to ensure that the shot performed is in line with the Laws of Badminton and any other regulation that might be applicable to the specific event. Thus, he/she is responsible in making a ‘service fault’ call and to provide shuttles to the players.

Koi No Yokan
This is a Noragami Historical AU I adopted from @bloodredrubymoon with @watchmist1412 with Miko!Hiyori and God of Calamity!Yato based on events during the Hogen Disturbance of 1156. You can always read it on AO3 but I’m still learning to format there, and structure is rather important to my storytelling.
Rated T+ due to death and some adult situations. Historical and A/N at end of each chapter. Musical references will be noted before (if any).

I hardly know your voice And find that I am hanging on your every word Burned inside my brain And I must stop until we meet again
My Heart Got Caught on Your Sleeve by Lucius
Hiyori had grown into a respected miko, and the beauty of the village. It never ceased to amuse her how quickly adversaries were to underestimate her as an opponent solely on her appearance. Her brother was right all those years ago; she was indeed blessed to be born a woman. For every bandit or rogue samurai that saw her as a gift on a silver platter, she would have another enemy defeated at her feet. She took full advantage of her disarming looks, and hoped she was making her brother proud.
A couple of Taira samurai had entered the village, and unfortunately began harassing the tavern maids. Hiyori had a boding premonition that morning of pain, and rushed through the town center to the scene, determined to remind these thugs that people were not meant for the taking. Accompanied by two of her sister shrine maidens, the group of rogues came into view. One had the tavern keeper pinned to the outside wall, while two others wrestled with two of the maids, speaking loudly of their disgusting wishes for them. This was not the first time they had samurai harassing their women and bullying their men.  Hiyori was not about to sit around and watch the brute showboating.
“For every honorable warrior, it seems there's always three more pieces of trash claiming the name samurai,” Hiyori spat at them.
“Such ugly words to come out of such pretty lips,” laughs one of the men holding a tavern maid, his hand tucked under the folds of her yukata at her chest.
“Remove your filthy hands from that woman, and show me what it can do with a weapon instead of an unwilling partner, swine.” Hiyori was finding it hard to check her anger at their brazen behavior in public, embarrassing and disgracing the innocent women she knew so well.
“Ha! You’d be so much more attractive if you didn’t speak.” The second thug holding a woman throws his victim to the ground, his hand resting on the area between his thighs. “Come here, and I’ll show you a better use for that mouth of yours.”
The man holding the tavern owner began to cackle. “Let’s show this shrine maiden and her friends how much better we can taste than their god.”
The bystanders watched with both apprehension and eagerness from their hiding spots, ready to witness their divine protector put the men in their place.
“Ami, Yamma, let me handle this. These guys make me sick.” Hiyori grips her short sword, her bow strapped to her back.
“I understand the feeling, Hiyori, but we aren’t going to let you have all the fun. You can have a head start, but that’s it.” They both nod to the focused miko.
“You hear that guys, she wants to dance with all three of us herself. Thirsty girl.”
All three men, having thrown their victims to the side, began to saunter towards their supposed victim.
Hiyori closes her eyes, and breathes in deep. She opens her eyes, releasing her held breath, and begins forward with breakneck speed.  She drops to a spin, catching the legs of the first samurai, swinging her bow down on his head with an echoing crack before spinning back on the ball of her foot to sweep the weapon forcefully up to his groin. She grins, satisfied, as he turns to vomit from the pain. Gracefully, her bow finds it way back to where it began, her short sword unsheathed. The second man was on her, swinging at Hiyori. She falls back to the ground to avoid the strike, immediately springing back as he completes his arc. Her hand brings the blade up with her momentum, slashing the tie to the thug’s clothes and leaving him exposed.“Seems only fair to me,” Hiyori bites out as she blocks a sloppy counter from the man, frantically trying to hold his clothes over his manhood. “Ami, Yamma! This one is yours!” She says with a kick to the half-naked man.
“Ew!”
“You shouldn’t have, Hiyori!” Her friends are on him in an instant, restraining and covering him.
The third man seemed to be the least skilled, waving his sword around as if twirling a baton for show. With the exception of a single wandering man, it was a miracle the rest of the town had stayed far enough away to avoid collateral damage.
A stray strike threatened to take out the man passing by, seemingly oblivious to the fray.  He wore a large brim hat, but surely he could see what was going on around him, or so Hiyori thought. She threw herself into the man’s back, pushing him free of the strike, yet putting herself directly in the swing’s path.  The sharp edge of the blade catches her sleeve, slicing the skin of her forearm underneath. It takes a few moments for the blood to escape the wound. Stunned by both the contact and the gesture, the man fixates on the young miko from his place on the ground, marveling that she had thought to save him. If his mind were running on all cylinders, he might’ve asked her, “Why?” or even managed a small “Thank you,” if not at least an offer to treat the wound she took for him.  Unfortunately for him, the young woman had not missed a beat, and was combating the samurai with more aggression than before. She was before the assailant in a flash, driving her elbow into his abdomen before immediately colliding her fist into his face with a twist of her arm. He was thrust to the ground squarely on his beckside with a fierce kick, and the sounds of a bow being drawn could be heard before another breath could be taken.
“I think we’ve had enough fun for one day. You’re threatening bystanders now with your inept fighting. I suggest you leave before I start taking you seriously.”
Poised at each man, Hiyori had three arrows ready to finish the brawl for good.
The men began to scramble, hauling each other to their feet, and dragging themselves out of the town. Satisfied with the reactions, Hiyori turns to check on -- “Who was I looking for?” She couldn’t remember why she felt concerned, as if someone had been hurt. Wasn’t a bystander involved in the fight? Looking around, Hiyori furrows her brow in frustration, chasing her fading memory of a wide black hat and savoring the sweet smell in the air.
“Oh, Hiyori! Your Arm!” As if those words were an incantation, Hiyori finally notices the pain, as she winces and inhales sharply through her teeth. The wound was superficial, not even touching muscle, and made with a clean, sharp blade. She knew it would heal quickly, and barely leave a scar.
“It’s not really that bad, Ami, no need to worry. It just stings is all.”
“I swear, those samurai would try to recruit you if you weren’t a shrine maiden, Hiyori,” a young woman with short blonde hair chimed in.
“Her mother suffered enough letting her train, Yamma, I don’t think she could survive Hiyori riding onto a battlefield,” commented the bespeckled girl with dark hair. Turning with a laugh at her mother’s perpetual dream for her noble-woman-to-be-daughter being shattered, Hiyori couldn’t help feeling as if she was forgetting something important. The girls were fussing over her arm, and began dragging her back to the shrine.
“At least you won’t have a nasty scar for your wedding coming up this weekend!” Ami teased affectionately.
Hiyori choked on the laugh she was forcing out.
“I’ve asked you a hundred times, please stop calling it that! It’s my ascension ceremony, and as far from an actual wedding as you can get!”
Hiyori had completed her training, and that weekend they would participate in the rituals to recognize her as a priestess, a shamaness in full. Technically, there was a portion that imitated a wedding, symbolizing the connection between miko and kami, but Hiyori hardly considered this anything more than an old ritual.
“I heard in the old days, the newly ascended mikos would claim the next morning to have actually consummated their marriage to their god!”
“Yamma!” Both Ami and Hiyori were completely aghast at their friend’s comment.
“Oh, come on! The way Hiyori holds out on guys, she probably wouldn’t settle for anything less than a god, anyway!”
Ami couldn’t help but blurt out a laugh at the comment. “You know, she has a point, Hiyori. You have never shown interest in men.”
“We aren’t supposed to be interested in guys while training!” Hiyori was desperate to defend herself against this tandem attack.
“Yeah, yeah, but they never said anything about getting something lined up for after training,” Yamma was relentless.
“I mean, we are just looking out for your future, right?”
“Not you, too, Ami!”
“We are merely human, dear Hiyori. Even the gods want to be loved, right?”
Hiyori opened her mouth to refute that statement, but found she had nothing to say. Seizing her opportunity to drive the point home, Yamma threw out the clinching argument; “Besides, even the sun kami, Amiterasu, came out of hiding for a little skin dance.” She wiggled her shoulders, bumping into the other girls as she did so and eliciting giggles from one of the two mikos.
Adjusting her glasses, Ami delivers the final blow; “Our kagura is based on that story, so maybe you’ll lure a handsome kami out with yours!”
“I don’t know what to celebrate more; Hiyori’s ascension, or her finally finding a love interest!”
“I do not have to listen to this! You two are helpless!” Hiyori groans, eyes rolling as she stomps ahead of her two friends, huddled over in laughter.
“We’re sorry, Hiyori! Just promise you’ll tell us how divine the touch of a god can be!”
Hiyori lets out a sound of disgust over her friends’ now howling laughter. She storms away while they continue to choke on their own mirth. They were her best friends, but they loved to poke at Hiyori’s sensitive spots. Anytime a new scholar or samurai came across their path, the two girls would try to provoke Hiyori into confessing her interest. It’s not that she didn’t find the men attractive or charming, but she always felt like there was something missing.  She was content just as she was, however, and wouldn’t feign interest for anyone who didn’t take her breath away.
Hiyori stopped under the torii at the entrance to the shrine. She could see in the distance a twin structure standing in the middle of the water, sunlight bouncing off the arch. She took a deep breath, catching soft and sweet scents in the air. The wind was picking up as the sun went down.  It seemed like it might be stormy that evening. Perhaps her premonition that morning wasn’t regarding their encounter with the samurai trash.
.............................................................................................................................
Hiyori was pulled from her fitful dreams by a force pushing the air out of her chest. She hastily ties back the sleeves of her robe before reaching for her weapons, and rushing outside.  Something was very wrong.
She feels a heavy force push against the barriers she set up along the edge of the village.  Whatever brought this pressure was not human.  The air hung heavy with the metallic and salty smell of blood.  Mercifully, a breeze picks up, and removes the stagnation, but brings with it something new.  Almost disguised by the smell of gore, something sweet, and mildly familiar lures her.  Following the smell and the source of the pressure, Hiyori runs into the lake and looks around frantically in the moonlight to find the source. Closing her eyes, she focuses on the perimeter of the town.  Her barriers remained intact, yet she could not shake the feeling of the night pressing down on her.  She hears nothing besides her own harried breaths, and the water lapping around her legs and robe. Warm drops hit her shoulder, staining the fabric a deep crimson.  She looks up to the single torii in the water as blood drips across her cheek from the blade of a sword.  Of all the monsters she has purged, and all the phantoms she has purified, nothing felt like his presence. He wore deep midnight robes with black hakama pants. A single sword gleamed in his hands, but she could see the shapes of more on his hip. The wide brim of his black hat shielded the top part of his face, but she could make out sharp features draped in curtains of black hair.  Though unseen, she could feel his eyes locking her in place. She was convinced she was caught in the gaze of death himself.  As if releasing a laugh, another drop falls from the blade onto her cheek, awakening her from the spell. Hiyori steadies herself against the presence above her, yet she does not raise her bow. For all she knew, she was in the presence of a god of calamity. It would be best not to tug on the tail of a sleeping dragon.  She speaks, finally finding her voice.
“Do you seek protection or destruction, my lord?”
His eyes land on her forearm, exposed to wield her bow.  He sees the bandage, recognizing her wound from the altercation with the samurai scum. She must be the miko who erected the purification barrier, the one who protected this village, even at the cost of her own blood. There was something unnervingly alluring about her, as if the threads of fate became taught whenever she was close. He hadn’t expected her to confront him, but he didn’t mind being caught in her gaze.
Hiiro had found him earlier that afternoon, shortly after he was knocked to the ground by the woman beneath him, claiming the father of a tavern maid wished for justice for the shame of being revealed before the whole town at the hands of Taira samurai. He didn’t resist this job, having seen the sins himself so recently.  The wish for revenge thrust upon him had been fulfilled, however, and he would expend himself no further.  The other fools clamoring about could kill themselves, and needed no help from him. People died, whether he interfered or not.  He had only ducked beneath the barrier that evening to avoid wasting energy.  He had never expected this fearless miko to peak his curiosity so much.
“I do not think you wish to fight me, yet you do not grant me an answer.”
He bites out a laugh at her polite impatience. Such fierceness for such gentle features. He tilts his head back, revealing a sly grin and his electric eyes.
“I’ve had my fill tonight. I merely wish to pass through.” Spring blossoms, he thinks.  That’s what her eyes remind him of.
The intensity of the blue in his eyes freezes the air in Hiyori’s lungs. Has it been minutes or merely moments since she last took a breath? She takes a cautious step back, content to feign trust in this spirit with a destructive aura, and his promise to spare them in his few words.  She watches as he tips his hat back down, concealing his face once again. Freed from his gaze, Hiyori blinks, but opens her eyes to see nothing but the moon above the arch of the torii.  She lets out a breath she didn’t even realize she was holding, feeling almost disappointed to not have those blue eyes on her anymore.  A breeze picks up and plays with the wet ends of her robe and the soft fringes of her hair.  Beneath the salty scent of blood, the wind carried the sweetest smell.
That night, sleep did not come easily. When it finally did come, the last thing Hiyori saw behind her closed eyes was a flash of blue sending her to sleep with a shiver.
