Omg hi I saw you opened your requests again teehee... Can I request general dating headcanons for haru (blush blush) pls 🙏🙏. Thank you so much!! ^^
yup i'm back to beg more for requests!! i never really have em closed but sometimes i get soooo bored lol. thank you for the request anon!! (this is me right before posting: sorry this got stuck in the drafts!)
— — —
Dating Haru
so. let's be honest. he's a massive flirt. still, that doesn't mean that he was always in to you.
you fell first, he fell harder.
suddenly he was complimenting you to see you happy and flirting to make you blush, instead of to further the breaking of his curse.
aki and fuyu were still skeptical. whether or not you're involved with them, they 'see right through him'. haru is a man of experience, and his type of kitsune trickery was getting people to love him to end up giving him lavish gifts and large portions of money
not anymore, baby!!!!
yeah, showering him with gifts was cool and all....... but its really the thought behind it that starts to matter
and the type of gifts he likes most are experiences. particularly experiences for two people. wink wink.
life experiences are a lot more enjoyable when you aren't trying to get something out of it, it seems. (woah what a surprise no one couldve seen that coming)
long nights of relaxing in hot springs, leaning against him. sometimes you talk, mostly you both sit there and enjoy the silence.
expensive dates. expensive expensive expensive. but you dont ever get to plan them, he likes to surprise you
he also likes giving you massages. wink wink.
he'll have his arm around your shoulder or waist when you're out
#blush blush#haru blush blush#protag-writes#asks#requests#add to masterlist#i really am sorry it was left here!! i wasn't satisfied with it for a long time but i really dont have time to perfect it right now#you're still welcome to request more if you'd like <3

To Be a Princess
Chapter 6.5
Last/Next
Haruchiyo x Ran
TW: Abuse
A/N: A break from our main story
“Get up,” Ran’s hand comes down hard on Haruchiyo’s bare, blanket-covered ass. “You know we have shit to do today.” There’s a smile in his voice.
Haru buries his face deep into one of Ran’s thick, fluffy pillows. There’s nothing he wants to do today. He’s sore and tired, and it’s probably one in the afternoon. Has the day not already gotten away from them? He groans when Ran punishes his inaction by yanking the blankets off him.
“We started making meeting times later because of you and now you won’t even get up?”
“We don’t even have a meeting today,” Haru sits up on the edge of the bed. Messy pink hair falls onto his face. He rubs his eyes, “We can’t stay here and have sex? We have to get this done today?”
“We both already showered last night for this exact reason so, no.” Ran asserts as he pulls his black sweater over his tank top.
“Whatever.” Haruchiyo stands with his aching body and goes to raid Ran’s closet for clothes he’s left in his many times over. Though, truthfully, he’ll likely end up wearing something of Ran’s.
✮✮✮
The inside of Ran’s car is hot even on a quite windy and cold spring day. Still, the sun is out, and that’s enough to make that brown leather interior uncomfortable. Haruchiyo cracks his passenger-side window.
“... And that piece of shit told me he only did it for his kids. Like I give a fuck?” Haruchiyo likes to talk more than outsiders would think. Ran thinks he might hate having to deal with his own thoughts alone. “But, recently, I think I’m supposed to.” He says it like a question.
“Supposed to what?” Ran spares Haruchiyo a glance, eyebrows knitted together. Surely, he’s not saying he should…
“Care.” Haruchiyo chuckles, biting at a hangnail on his thumb.
“No.” Ran presses his lips together into a hard, thin line.
“Well, you’re weird and I’m not sure you have feelings so…” He looks down into his lap and shakes his head. Haruchiyo has had this thought several times before but has never said it out loud. He’s sure most people around Ran feel the same.
“Yet, you always bring these things to me, right?” Ran has feelings. Probably. He thinks he does.
“Right, but? I mean, I don’t feel baaad- I just- I don’t know. Whatever. You’re right.”
“You don’t know these people, so why should you care? All they did for you was make your job harder.” Ran can see Haru nodding in his peripheral vision. It goes silent. Now, it’s Ran’s turn. “Why did you wait until your thirties to think about this?”
“Maybe, one day, I want to change and be a better person… I’m allowed to change.” He says matter-of-factly.
Ran belly laughs and Haruchiyo feels his heart sink.
“Never going to happen. I think we’re on a domestic terrorism watch list or something.” Ran speaks with a big smile.
“So?” Haru can feel his blood simmering in his hands.
“We did the domestic terrorism thing we’re being accused of. So, when you decide this is over for you,” Ran cracks a smile. “And the feds are outside of your door? You did it.”
“Fuck off.” Haruchiyo huffs out knowing he’s right.
“You’ll be fine. Worry about these things on your deathbed.”
If you make it far enough to have one, Ran thinks to himself but has no need to say.
✮✮✮
Ran knocks on the door.
Nothing.
He knocks again.
Nothing.
He tries the handle.
It’s open.
Silently, they walk in. A small one-bedroom apartment on the fifth floor. There should be a couple there, but as they search the rooms, there’s no one. Just a white cat that doesn’t seem to mind their presence.
Ran heads out onto the balcony that overlooks an alleyway. Nothing. Haruchiyo follows him. He looks at the same barren concrete alleyway, just to be sure.
“We’re fucked.” Haruchiyo titters as he leans against the railing.
“It’s not funny.” Ran clenches his jaw.
“It is. A little bit. I didn’t want to do this today and now I don’t have to.” Haru looks up at Ran, who’s not taking this as lightly as he is.
“Figure out where they are. Now.”
“How?”
“Text someone. Find out. Kokonoi has cameras everywhere. Ask him.” His words come out sharp and forced. He doesn’t want to talk right now.
Haruchiyo pulls out his phone and there’s a notification from Kakucho.
12:43
No need to go to their house. We have them here already. We just need you and Ran to come by the building when you can.
He reads it aloud.
“When did he send that?” Ran asks.
Haruchiyo looks back at the screen, “twelve-forty-three.” He mumbles slowly.
“What time is it right now?”
“Two-fifty.” He shows Ran the screen of his phone.
“Mhm.” Ran grabs the phone to check. “Two-fifty-one now.” He says before tossing it over the balcony.
Haruchiyo is stunned. In an instant, his phone is destroyed. Shattered into tiny pieces on the concrete below. There’s no point in even going to get it. It will have to be replaced. “Why did you do that?”
“Clearly you don’t need it, anyway. Right? Since you don’t check it.” Ran shrugs. His gaze dares Haruchiyo to do something about it. He watches as Haruchiyo’s face twists from confusion to anger.
“Fuck you.” He pushes Ran’s shoulder.
“No. Be better at your job.” Ran pushes back harder, forcing Haruchiyo to take a step back.
“I’m great at my job!” He shoots back. Haruchiyo doesn’t mean to yell, but he can’t stand when Ran acts like this. He knows he fucked up, but at worse, this is just wasted time.
Ran takes a deep breath and becomes eerily calm. His face becomes neutral and Haruchiyo has half a mind to walk away, but he can’t. He never can. When Ran steps closer to him and leans down to get in his face, Haruchiyo is glued in place.
Ran snatches Haru’s face with one big, gloved hand in a death grip and shakes him once. “You’re great at wasting my time and being a nuisance to other people. You killed my friend and the loser that stabbed me could be dead by Kakucho’s gun and not mine, because you don’t check your fucking phone.” Thin pink brows are furrowed and they’re too close to break eye contact. The balcony is silent. “If I could kill you instead, I would.”
Ran probably really means that last part. Neither of them knows for sure. He’s gotten scarily close once before.
Haruchiyo doesn’t think before he spits on Ran. Nails him right in the face. But he’s not shocked when the next action is Ran’s fist connecting to his cheek and knocking his vision blurry momentarily. Haruchiyo falls against the wall. Ran is wiping his face with his sleeve and walking away.
“Let’s go.” Ran slams the door behind him, leaving Haru alone in the apartment.
✮✮✮
It’s a relatively busy office building that they do these things at sometimes. Some of the floors are rented out to legitimate businesses and the top three floors are Bonten only territory. The basement too. For storage. Drugs and weapons. The occasional body on ice.
“I’m not going in,” Haruchiyo states as he closes the car door and it echoes through the parking garage.
“Then don’t.”
They go their separate ways.
Haruchiyo ends up a few blocks away fumbling with his keys, trying to unlock the doors to their club hours before it opens.
He busts in like he intends to raid the place. Kicks the door after locking it back.
Surprising only himself, he starts screaming. His fingers grip the roots of his hair as he lets it out like he’s supposed to breathe fire. Then, like it never happened, he goes silent and walks behind the bar whilst holding back tears.
Drawers slam shut as fast as they’re opened as he searches for what he needs. It’s frantic.
“Shit!” He yells when he crushes a finger accidentally and because he cannot find anything to calm himself down. He grabs a bottle of vodka and pops it open. It burns his throat the perfect amount as it goes down.
✮✮✮
A loud banging rattles the wooden doors and jolts Haru out of his tipsy nap on the bar counter. It comes again. He stumbles over to the door with only the dim light of the bar guiding him. When he starts to unlock it something uneasy comes over him. He pauses.
“Ran?” He calls out.
“Open the door.” At the sound of Ran’s voice, Haruchiyo is having mixed feelings. They probably shouldn’t see each other for a few days. Or ever again?
He opens the door.
Ran is bigger than him, but at times like this, he feels like a giant. A light splattering of blood marring his black and white tank top, hugging his thin waist. Black sweater missing. Red knuckles. Black leather gloves shoved in his pocket. Glock tucked in his waistband on full display. Little strands of purple and black hair out of place. Tall, tattooed, thin, sinewy body on display. On purpose.
Ran isn’t going to apologize. Not directly. He’s not sorry. Haruchiyo knows, but it’s like he’s addicted to it. Addicted to this man hurting him.
“I don’t want to see you,” Haruchiyo seethes.
“You already opened the door.” Ran smirks. “Let me in.”
Haruchiyo steps out of the way. Like an idiot. Ran slides past him.
Ran takes in the environment. Nothing is out of place except an open bottle on the bar counter.
He’s a little drunk, Ran thinks.
Ran walks into the backroom, sure that Haruchiyo is right on his tail. He sits on the plush couch, legs spread, observing Haruchiyo leaning in the threshold who’s also watching him.
“I’m not-”
“You will.” Ran is self-assured. Always has been. “C’mon.”
Haruchiyo is irritated. Ran is a jackass, but Haruchiyo might be one too.
✮✮✮
Ran's lips are never chapped, never busted, never not slathered in waxy mint chapstick.
Haruchiyo cannot say the same. Ran breaks the skin of his lips open bi-weekly and kissing him might be the closest thing he does to putting on chapstick all day. Ran’s lips are soft and pillowy and when Haruchiyo sucks on his tongue, he can still taste the mint gum he must’ve had after smoking a cigarette on his way here. He knows Ran’s habits like the back of his hand.
To Ran, Haruchiyo tastes like an idiot. An idiot ready to do anything for a sign of affection. He’ll never say it out loud, but he does like kissing that fucked up face. Sometimes, he wishes he was the one that put those scars there instead of Manjirou. But he can’t change how it is. Ran can only create fresh scars; physical and mental.
Ran lets Haruchiyo guide his back to the couch cushions. He lets Haruchiyo kiss him for a little longer and revels in the feeling of the rushed, nervous hands touching him everywhere within reach. Nimble fingers run through his hair and trace his waistline. Haruchiyo surprises Ran every time with how good of a kisser he actually is. Ran can’t help but smile and break the seal.
Haruchiyo comes up fast, “I don’t want to— uh…?” He scratches his head, the other hand resting on Ran’s chest. “I don’t want to have sex.” He comes to his senses with wide eyes. Part of him can’t believe what’s being said.
“Why?”
“Bad optics.”
“Shut up.”
✮✮✮
“You know what fucking sucks about you?” Haruchiyo slurs out. He drank more than he’d intended after Mochi came and opened the club.
“What?” Ran says in the slyest voice with a smirk on his stupid, handsome face.
“Your parents are- they’re rich! You don’t have to do this!” Haruchiyo throws his hands up. “I don’t even have parents! I just had Takeomi, who hated me for being gay, before I even knew I liked boys! And I’m NOT gay!” He shuffles in his seat. He’s hot and sweaty and doesn’t want to wear his seatbelt, so he unlocks it.
Ran can’t help it. He has to laugh. It’s funny how Haruchiyo can get when he’s drinking.
“My parents were absent, Haruchiyo. They never gave two fucks about Rin or me. But, I didn’t see myself doing the gang member thing forever, admittedly.”
Haruchiyo makes a noise of confusion and inebriation.
“I wanted to be famous. Internationally.”
“You are… kind of,” Haruchiyo says with a pitchy lilt and laughs.
Ran shrugs. Not in any way that matters.
Haruchiyo puts his seat back and sighs.
“What?”
“I want to get high.”
Ran says no.
Haruchiyo knows he’s being punished. He’s been sober recently if you don’t count the drinking, but this isn’t about that. Even in his intoxicated mind, he knows that.
“I’ll suck your dick if you apologize.”
“I’m not sorry.”
“You are su-uch a piece of shit, you know that?” Haruchiyo says off the back of a burp. “You didn’t even apologize for my fucking teeth.”
“What?” Ran eyebrows pull together and he briefly takes his eyes off the road to look at Haruchiyo.
“You didn’t.”
“Because you don’t deserve it.” Ran scoffs. “Do you know how long I wanted to know what happened to Muto? Just for you to randomly tell me you killed him a decade ago?” He bites his lips and pulls into Haruchiyo’s driveway.
“He deserved it when I killed him and you deserved it when that man stabbed you. Should’ve put you down with that bastard,” Haruchiyo states with a drunken smile before getting out and slamming the door behind him.
Haruchiyo makes his way to his doorstep, looking for his keys.
Ran follows him, slamming his door. “Repeat that.”
He stops fumbling for his keys. There’s nothing but air and opportunity. Ran looks pissed off in a way that makes Haruchiyo’s drunk little heart flutter. He says it differently this time.
“You should’ve been reunited with that asshole when that man stabbed you.”

Love triangles
Truth be told, I’ve never been into love triangles - in fact I used to actively avoid them in the past, and still do when I’m reading fic because I hate feeling conflicted between two love interests. But somehow these stories found their way into my heart and left me utterly obsessed entranced and invested in the trope (the amount of scorching sex definitely helps 😂). So I thought I’d share these in case anyone else is looking for great stories with hot, intense, well-written triangular dynamics. Some will make you pick favorites (tell me about yours!), some are properly polyamory which is fun and refreshing to see in manga. All works are E-rated. Enjoy!

More Akechi twins 15 years later. And. Other stuff
Thinking about the 15 years later outfits for the twins
Makoto, looking much softer and happier in a big crewneck sweater, with the logo for the diner on the front over their heart. Dark casual pants, big enough that they bunch up just a little, and they still stand around with their hands in their pockets. A light blue watch, wedding band a sparkling silver, and no more cap. They have no reason to hide anymore
Goro, free for the first time in years, has to wear Makoto's clothes for the first day until they can go shopping for him. And, he ends up following their lead this time. A softer collared shirt, black, under a tan crew neck sweater, sleeves rolled up. Black watch, a fancy one that tracks heart rate. More form fitting slacks, corduroy maybe? Yeah, hell yeah, corduroy black slacks. He goes for simple, plain black socks. Makoto wears fun ones that their kids picked out
Goro's hair is long enough that it usually goes up in a little ponytail. He starts this when he's in the facility cause it was bothering him. Makoto smiled when they saw it at their monthly visitation. "You look softer like that. More like my brother, less like a Prince."
"...I'll keep it up, then. You have to dress for the job you want, right, Koto?"
There's still an inn in Inaba, with a hot spring. Spending their birthday there is the first time Goro sees Makoto's surgery scars. "Hey. You actually did it,"
"Mm, didn't I tell you?" Makoto runs a hand down their front, patting their toned tum. "Best decision I ever made."
"Well, now we match in that regard. Flat siblings." Goro is more thin than muscle, not unhealthly so, but. Makoto is notably toned. "Let's head into the springs, your friends are waiting to wish us a another good year."
"...first, Brother promise." They haven't done one of these since Makoto thought they were just a trans guy. They were only 16 then. "Let's spend this next year together, okay?"
"Got it."
Haru has one photo she'll hold dear forever. It's Makoto and Goro, asleep on the couch, heads leaned together, a documentary on money laundering playing still. On their laps? Nonoka and Keima. Nonoka sitting on her uncle, drooling onto her brother's head. Keima is curled into his Papa, little face tucked into their sweater
Haru: hey, love, wake up
Makoto: hhmmoh? Haru? What time is it?
Haru: time to take the little ones to bed. I've got Nonoka, can you take Keima?
Makoto glances down, and smiles softly at their son sleeping against them
Makoto: yeah. I'll, wake Goro afterwards. Make sure he gets to bed too
Haru: mm, how considerate of you. Don't take too long, I want to spend time with you, okay? Maybe a bath?
Makoto: mm, as long as I get to pamper you silly, baby. Kiss?
Haru: kiss
They share a soft one, each with a slumbering five-year- old in their arms
Goro: ugh, thanks. My neck would've been killer stiff,
Makoto: I know, mine too. Sleep well
Goro: don't stay up too late boning your wife, Koto
Makoto: yeah yeah, go be a lonely grump or whatever. Night
Goro: night
Makoto is still silly affectionate. It hasn't tamped down at all, it may have even gotten stronger? They're constantly trying to touch Haru even a little, giving tons of hugs, little kisses, leaning their heads together, swinging her around
Makoto always makes sure they're strong enough to carry their wife. It's what Haru deserves, they claim
When the twins were newborns, Makoto kept rushing out of bed at the slightest whimper or cry so Haru could sleep longer. They'd heat up a bottle while swaying around the kitchen, humming softly to whichever twin had woken up hungry. They'd change them without a word, kissing their little heads once they'd put them back into the cribs in the nursery
Makoto: i love being a parent. Being able to show so much love to someone, to feel so much love? It's amazing. It sucks sometimes, sure, but I'd rather be here than where I was before. At your side, with our kids, this is where I belong
And Haru just bursts into tears, still a little off from hormones, and she tugs them into a big hug, smiling into their shoulder as they pepper kisses to her hair
Keima and Nonoka both have warm red eyes, Keima has a tiny, tiny dash of freckles. Their hair isn't as textured as Haru's, but it's wavy, and that bright auburn/bright pinkish brown. But they have Makoto's nose, and Nonoka has their eye shape, and both have their smart mind. Only, they use it for chaos
And of course we know Hirohide is a mini Makoto, with his little pout, but he's warm, and heavily curious. He loves learning new things, will sit all excited on his Papa's lap for a doc without needing to be sleepy, like his older siblings
All three get early screening for the mental illnesses that ran in their family. Goro is relieved when none of them have BPD or Schizophrenia like him, or bipolar like Goro and Makoto's father apparently had. He would've felt horribly guilty if they had to deal with what he has
Both are why he was put into mental care rather than prison. With his meds and counselling, he's much more tame
Keima and Nonoka don't show any concerning signs, but little Hirohide gets early support for what appears to be ADHD
Haru is also happy her kids won't suffer so much. She remembers the struggle of getting Makoto settled after the very late diagnosis of their later stuff. She's happy they caught Hirohide so young,
Makoto is just, so glad they're all happy kids. They wanted nothing more than that
Goro: so, no meds for your Mini Me yet, right?
Makoto: exactly. We'll see how he develops before making decisions with his doctor. I hope we can get him to 10 before we have to worry about meds with him
Goro: he'd soldier through. He wants to be just like you, anyways. You'd just have to say you take 'em too, and he'd jump to take em
Makoto: true, Haru absolutely adores that part of him. She was a little sad the twins don't look that much like me, y'know
Goro: it's cause she loves you, dumbass.
Makoto: yeah, she loves me,
Goro: bleh,
Makoto and Haru each having an apron. Haru's is a light purple, Makoto's is bright blue.
Haru, when they were first living together for school, slowly teaching Makoto to cook. Makoto standing behind Haru, hugging her waist as she stirs something, softly explaining when to stir, how long it takes, and Makoto listens so attentively. But, their hands are softly running over her tum, and sides, or they're nuzzling into her neck, all affectionate
Haru: are you listening?
Makoto: *parrots back everything she said, hugging her tighter*
Haru: mm, good job.
Makoto: good enough for a kiss?
Haru: *turns off the stove, spins around to kiss them, slow and deep and just-*
Makoto: wow,
Haru: alright, it's done, Love. Ready to eat?
Makoto: ***wow***
Haru: what do I use for you when I wanna say something like good boy, or good girl?
Makoto:
Haru: Mako?
Makoto: sorry, felt really gay for a moment. Uhm. How about just, "Very good"?
Haru: hmmm, that can work. Very good, Mako~
Makoto: *gayass eyes*
Haru: it's like living with a big puppy. Makoto's so touchy these days, it's so different than when we met
Ann: ...are you, complaining?
Haru: NEVER
So, during the 15 years later, theyre both running the diner. They have some staff, like a local college kid they met through Akira (Shinya), a few front end workers, and a few cooks for when they take days to be a family and shit. They've stepped back more, doing weekdays only during school hours
Only, since Hirohide isnt school age yet, sometimes one of them is home. He gets watched by Sojiro most days, along with the RyuAki baby
But two days a week, each parent is off to spend time with him
Cause I've decided Shiho and Ann have their daughter from Queers, Mifuka, the little hurricane
And there's two kids for Ryuji and Akira. An older daughter, baby boy
Daughter would be the age of the twins, for friendship. Mifuka is two years older, so 7
Daughter is Hikari Sakamoto, And baby Kota Sakamoto
Nonoka, Keima, and Hikari all walk to school together. Mifuka would as well, but she's always running ahead. Everything's too slow for her
Goro: you can cook now?
Makoto: yeah, Haru taught me. I prefer cooking with her, but cooking for her? Amazing
Goro: ...oh my god, you're a simp
Makoto: have you seen my wife? Of course I am
Makoto sometimes wakes up, and goes to roll over to hold Haru and finds Hirohide already there. And they just smile, and sandwich their son between his parents, kissing at Haru's sleeping face
Haru: hng?
Makoto: sorry, baby. Just, love you
Haru: mmm,
She tries to nuzzle closer, subconsciously holding Hirohide closer too
When Makoto went to help pack up Goro's room at the facility he was in, they paused at the little wall of photos. He'd kept the sonograms they'd give him of the twins, then of Hiro. And, in neat rows, the yearly photos of the kids. It makes them tear up. Especially when they see he used the plastic frame the facility provided for Makoto and Haru's wedding photo
Goro: hm? Don't cry, dumbass. It's the only stuff I had to look at when I was on lock down. Don't get the wrong idea
Makoto: sure, sure. You totally don't care about me, or seeing my family. I could just leave you here-
Goro: ugh, fine, prick. Let's go meet my nephews and niece, okay? And see the Fluffy one.
Makoto: yeah,
Hirohide: you look like Papa
Goro: your Papa and I are twins
Hirohide: tweens,
Goro: twins, say it like this, *says it super slow*
Hirohide: ...tweens,
Goro: close enough. We're like your big sister and big brother
Hirohide: Woah,
Hirohide: MAMA! UNCLE GOWO IS PAPA'S TWEEN
Makoto pats Goro's shoulder with a laugh. "He's still learning how to talk, don't be too hard on him, okay?"
"...you used to say my name that way. He really is a mini you,"
Haru, laughing openly, takes little Hiro from Goro's lap, rubbing her nose against her son's. He giggles, puts his hands to her mouth, so she does the raspberries, and just
Makoto tilts their head and smiles so lovingly. Goro pats their shoulder this time
Makoto moves around the living room to kiss his head, and Hiro giggles more when his parents share a little kiss
Haru smiles up at their partner one last time, and swoops away with Hiro to put him in the play room for a little bit so she can help Makoto with Goro's things
Goro: where are the other two?
Makoto: it's a school day, they're at school. They walk together with a, friend. You'll know when they're home, trust me
Goro: you let them walk on they're own? Makoto, they're-
Makoto: they're five, and this is how it's done in Inaba. There haven't been any incidents in years, Goro. They're fine
Goro: ...I'm sorry,
Makoto: you're worried, I get it. But, remember who you're talking to. We think in similar ways, my Brother.
And, he can tell them when they get home. The door opens with a bang, before two loud apologies follow
Haru: you're lucky your brother wasn't napping, my little monsters.
Keima: we're sorry Mama!
Nonoka: is he here?
Makoto: shoes off, bags on the hooks. Your uncle doesn't come before your routines, you two
Keima, wiggling out of his jacket: sorry Papa!
Nonoka, running into them for a hug: Papa, I'm sorry
Haru: alright, go wash your hands. Then, uncle Goro time
Makoto gives each a little hair tousle, and each hug Haru before going off too. Haru sighs fondly, and leans into her partner's side.
"Couple of goofs we've raised, huh?"
"I wouldn't have it any other way."
Like. Sad, awkward teen Makoto, with their cap tucked low, hands twisting all nervous as they sit beside Haru, vs this. Older, adult Makoto, smiling so openly, so eager to show affection, so, just, open
Even just, the side by side of the twins. The old Detective Princes posters, of Goro with that fake smile and an inquisitive pose, and Makoto frowning, hands in pockets, all closed off
To them now, sitting on the same couch while watching some doc, talking about it in friendly tones, Makoto more relaxed in their seat, smiling. Goro with his arms crossed, leaning back, watching intensely
Haru takes a while to warm up to having Goro around. She never went to his visitations, just let Makoto have their time with him. So, she's wary he might do something to turn her lovely, happy Makoto back into their repressed teen self
She loses this way of thinking slowly. She even talks to him about it, and they bond over the big thing they have in common; caring for Makoto
Note about Hikari and Kota;
Hikari is Ryuji's bio daughter. They had a surrogate, the same one, for both kids. Kota is Akira's bio son
So Hikari has this dark brown hair, real dark, and Ryuji's big grin. Kota's only a baby, so he's only got tiny little black curls, and his Dad's grey eyes
Ryuji walks around with a baby Bjorn at all times, he loves being a dad. Plays with Kota so much. He runs around and plays Horse or Heroes with Hikari too, so it's rare that what he's wearing is completely cleab
He and Makoto spent a lot of time bonding over that when the twins and Hikari were babies. Play dates would have three babies babbling on the floor, and the two parents sharing photos, stories, and just enjoying being parents
Akira: damn, this is the hottest he's ever been to me
Haru: mm, I know, right? It's so hard not to just, pull Makoto into our room all the time. This has to be some weird biological thing, right?
Akira: or we're horny bastards
Haru: mm. Yeah, probably that
Makoto: I'm glad we're friends
Ryuji: yeah, besides Ann and 'Kira, you're like, my best friend
Makoto: mm. Beside Yusuke and Haru, you're my best friend too

5, 9, 11 and 20 for the OC ask game! Any AnS OC(s) of your choosing ^^
5. What’s their favorite type of weather? Do they like to do anything specific on days when the weather is how they like it?
Most of my OCs are night owls/mostly work during the night hours so I would say most prefer clowdy weather - enough light to be able to see but not to be seen at night kinda thing
Obi's former pack/gang, consisting of Tom, Haru, Kris, Hana, Nokaru, Kano, Haruhi and newly Zee/Marina, have their own little hideout/safehouse similar too these huge ahh treehouses. Whenever it's a nice sunny day (without it being too hot) during spring they like to eat together outside on their "porch" - they are suckers for warm sunny weather ideally without a cloud in the sky.
9. How do they write? Do they write in cursive? How do they dot their i’s and j’s? Do they have specific ways that they write certain letters?
Emi: the most gorgeous cursive you've ever seen. Elegant, consistent and easily readable.
Sister Fiona: trained in rewriting books like monks and stuff - very fast writer and it somehow ends readable, she makes her letters longer than they actually need to be.
Doctor Nana: she's a doctor :/
11. What kinds of foods and drinks do they like? Do they like certain foods to be fried? Do they prefer certain foods to be prepared hot/cold?
I've never put much thought into their food preferences tbh...all I know is that Zarr and Butcher like anything made with alcohol.
I can imagine Haru being really into fried food and Sister Fiona into soups hmm
20. Was your OC inspired by anything? Another character? A person?
Oh babe most of my background OCs take heavy inspiration from my fav thing (show, movie, song etc.) at any given moment. I find solace in thinking/writing about familiar things :)
Madame: very witchy woman, she's inspirated by forest witch aesthetics...the Slavic unsettling ones. Her personality is like a mush of Alastor from Hazbin Hotel, Hannibal and Nellie from Sweeney Todd
Doctor Nana: both Nana and Madame's core is basically cannibal core (only literally for Madame tho). Nana was made because I needed to channel my girlhood feelings of love that only young adult girls and clinically insane people can understand. She's the embodiment of "I love you so much I'll devour you, bones and all". Oh also by the Dismemberment song.
Zarr: his demeanor and speech patterns are basically my own dad + my friend's dad (I'm being fr), he leans into the stereotypical Slavic dad TM, only more open-minded. Also Red Foreman from the 70s show.
Zee/Marina: she would fit into Trainspotting (movie) so well - she was created before I even watched it but damn if she isn't Mark Renton I don't know who she is. She's also giving Velma from Starkid Scooby-doo parody (solve it squad) and Yura from Parties are for losers.
Haru and Kano: their dynamic is inspired by boy friendships around me. Most of the conversations they have are convos I've heard teen boys having on the bus from school. I shall not elaborate further u can figure it out
The Obi gang: their childhood experiences and dynamics are based on mine and my friends own childhoods - VERY Slavic core.

Hatsu*Haru
Story & Art by Shizuki Fujisawa
Manga Volume 10
Shoujo, Romance, Drama, High-School Setting
Story ★★★★★ || ★★★★☆ Art
Summary
Thanks to Riko’s heroic instinct, she took first prize in the Hottest Guy Contest and won a trip to a hot-spring resort. Kai has been eagerly awaiting their romantic getaway, but unfortunately for him, the dream trip for two has suddenly become a group affair. With Shimura and Misaki tagging along, alone time has dwindled to a thing of mere imagination. Odds take a turn in the boys’ favor, though, when Shimura insists on sleeping in Misaki’s room…The hope for intimacy may not be lost, after all!
Review
This was a another cute volume. The first half is centered around Riko and Kai. They finally go on their over night spa trip, with Misaki and Shimura in tow, Riku just couldn’t go without a little buffer. In the end Riku and Kai grow closer and Kai is able to relive Riku of any misgivings she might have had. Kai teaches the guys to make Valentine’s Day chocolates. The last half centers around Misaki and Shimura and I think it was this conversation between them that solidified this as one of my favorites. How Shimura sees herself and her growing distance from her peers as they age is very relatable.
I really wanted to highlight the conversation Shimaru has about how she felt she lacked emotions, or at least how she felt she was different from all of her peers as they where growing up. She didn’t mature at the same rate, she didn’t and started to notice a distance grow between herself and all the other girls. This is so relatable to me as this is how I also felt at that age. It was like everyone was growing up and suddenly started caring about a lot of things that I didn’t know about, didn’t understand why it was suddenly important, and couldn’t relate too and even though I would try and ‘understand’ it I just didn’t get it, and over time my ‘faking it’ was noticed by others and distancing started to happen with some I was friends with in elementary school - I was now the weird one.
Unlike Shimaru, I did want to ‘fit it’ and tried hard too for a few years, before I realized that my faking it was giving people a misimpression of me - I later learned to call this ‘mirroring’ where people think I was like them or others I hung around with because I was just pretending to like what they did to fit in. I didn’t like that once I figured it out and had to resign myself to just be okay being me, even if it make it less likely I would fit it. So I just concentrated on making friends with those who could accept me as I was, even if they too considered me the ‘weird’ or ‘unique’ one in the group, it made my day to day less stressful. It was hard getting rejected over and over and always starting every year as if I was starting at a new school, worrying if I would have at least one friendly face in homeroom so there was someone to each lunch with.
Like Shimura, it wasn’t really my looks or dress that separated me, but my ‘being’ how I interacted with others and was lacking in heightened or typical emotions on what everyone else got excited over and many couldn’t deal with my oddness. I didn’t care about idols, or boy bands, or finding a boyfriend, or sports, or make-up, or fashion, or just socializing in general, etc… a lot of the typical ‘rights of passage’ that many people are just drawn to naturally and become passionate about.
It amuses me now that people denigrate the trope ‘not like other girls’ when that is how I used to describe myself, as I felt how hard it was to fit in with ‘normal’ girls/people… but I saw it as all negative, I wanted to be ‘normal,’ to be able to fit in and not feel like a fake, for it to be natural for me as it seemed to be for them, but I couldn’t. It wasn’t a choice or something that I could learn nor did I stand out as ‘cool’ or ‘better than’ or make me more popular with boys at all; but instead lonely and often the odd one out. Even painful when interacting with certain groups who didn’t like me and made it known. Luckily, most of the time I was just invisible or left alone, I would never consider the slight abuses and bullying (although painful at the time) to rise to the level of harassments or non-stop bullying I see others suffer though. I usually had at least a couple of kind people (oddly usually religious kids, though I wasn’t raised with religion) I could rely on, so I am grateful for that.
Anyway, I really loved this volume and this passage particularly. I was never as happy go lucky and confident as Shimaru, wish I could have been more oblivious and confident, but it is what it is. I feel like Ms. Fujisawa must have been like me to have understood this aspect of not fitting in so well, or at least was friends with someone who was. It is rare to see it written about, so that makes it stand out that much more to me.

I've only played "one night, hot springs" and I'm at the start of the second one, but I got all of the endings for it. So I wanna share my thoughts on this really lovely game.
Quick heads up: my impressions with visual novels are rather limited. Seeing how I only know about visual novels on a surface level and I've only played a small amount of them in the past. (I rambled a bit so feel free to skip this section and read what I thought about a year of springs)
The only ones I've that I've properly finished was Va11halla, Synergia, Slay the Princess, missed messages, You Left Me, Doki Doki Literature Club (original and DDLC+), Coffee Talk (only Episode 1), and If Found.
Technically Alter Ego, Alter Ego Complex, and Aznana count as visual novels but they're more idle games that progresses the visual novel story than proper visual novels. (would Smile for Me count as a visual novel? wait does Ghost Trick and Ace Attorney count??? oh god does that also means Helltaker counts????)
I listed all of them cuz I didn't think my list would be this long.
Aside from that, my impression of VNs are more gamified in a sense. That you'll have to fill up a bar with a certain character to progress or romance that character. To get the girl and all that. Actually, yeah now that I'm thinking about it, my only impressions of vns were romance vns.
Those felt more for people that wanna experience a more self insert type romance story. And with how they're usually done in a really fan service centric way. From just the jokes I've seen that were made of this type of game was enough for me to just not play vns all together.
Even with yuri vns like Kindred Spirits on the Roof, the presentation felt weirdly mediocre. It's not bad but I would've liked it a bit more if the artstyle was a bit more interesting or it had those fun limited animations that ace attorney has. Though I'm being rather unfair to this game since I haven't finished it yet. That and its plot would've been better suited as an anime or manga as far as I can remember it as. I dunno honestly, take all of what I've said about this game with a massive bucket of salt. Especially when I haven't fully played it beyond just the beginning.
The vns that I did stuck around to finish either had a fun visual or gimmick to them like Va11halla's diegetic manual music player, or stories that hook me like any of the other vns I mentioned.
I will admit that the way vns show their story is super hard for people to get into since it's basically a different way of reading a book to put it bluntly.
Ok I'm actually getting into the game that I wanted to talk about now.
I first heard of "One night, hot springs" through a random Twitter post of someone making fan art of the game. I wish I can find which one it is since I didn't even knew that Haru was a transwoman, the only thing I knew about it was "three women? Ah so it must be a cute yuri. It is cheap so I might as well buy it" and then it blindsided me with a genuinely sweet and super well written story with queer characters with zero compromises or any dumb wishy washy "erm acktually" and actually presents the reality of the situation for characters like Haru.
I love this game to bits because of how well done the routes are too. The game gives you the option to turn on a hint system where it'll give you 3 hearts on the top left to keep track of what dialogue option you should or shouldn't pick. I had it on to see how the game deals with this kind of system and see how certain routes are triggered. And I'm super suprised that you can get all of the game's endings (minus the bad ending) without losing any hearts. Which is a really big deal because it means you get to get these endings in more than one way. And it also shows that you don't compromise yourself with the world to get these endings.
See, you lose a heart when you choose to seclude yourself from the world. Like the choice you get after Haru finishes filling out the paperwork, be upfront and asks if there's any problems to the lady at the front desk and you don't lose any hearts. You actively see that when you pick options where Haru doesn't get to live as herself, she loses a heart.
But the fun part is how this doesn't entirely affects how you get the Manani or Erika endings.
The hint system cleverly points out how certain choices are just straight up bad or wrong. Like when you're talking to Erika about trans stuff and she unintentionally says a transphobic thing like "oh so a nickname for when you were a boy?" If you don't call this out, you lose a heart. But it doesn't lock you into a route. The only time you get any of the endings is if you lose all hearts before a certain point of the game or lose all hearts during one of the character specific routes OR chose specific dialogue options without losing any hearts.
It's an amazing message to tell to your players that living as yourself shouldn't be a compromise. You only hurt yourself if you're lying to yourself.
Words really can't fathom how much this story means to me by just doing this simple act alone.
I really can't wait to see what the other chapters are and where they're gonna take the story.

one night hot springs feels kind of like a classic at this point! I played it years ago, but revisited it for this - I can never keep track of my games, that's the whole point of kiiviews :D
this is a game around a trans woman in Japan going to a ryokan with hot springs for her friend's birthday; obviously a challenging situation for her. it's written from a deeply compassionate place, and centers on Haru, on what she feels able to deal with at certain points, on the way that the situation is difficult even when the people around her are well-meaning.
Even though there isn't any overt transphobia, there's the death-by-one-thousand cuts kind, especially given the cultural context and Japanese law. But, the game comes from a kind place, and Haru generally has a nice time :) it's thoughtful and sweet. I look forward to eventually playing the other two stories!

Romance on the surface (part 10)
Y/n x Sans
(Warning: very small mention of nudity but I prefer to warn just in case.)
You meet for the meeting which explains the planning of the stay. Then the hosts invite you to go and enjoy the thermal baths before eating.
The baths are obviously single-sex, however they are separated by a large bamboo wall which allows noise to pass slightly. In the locker rooms there are towels for bathing and yukatas for changing into afterward. Arriving in the bath, Grilby stands on his side to avoid the water. The boys find it sad that he can't come with them but he replies that it doesn't matter, that he will enjoy the heat produced by the hot springs. Their conversation quickly changes when they see Sans arriving with a towel around his waist, they begin to tease him about his constitution which embarrasses him.
R: Hey Harper, do you think Sans has...?
H: No idea, I didn't really know him in the underground. But now that you mention it I'm quite curious.
R: We'll see that!
Ryan comes out of the water giggling and tries to take off his towel. Sans struggles until Ryan finally gets there and he cries out in embarrassment.
S: Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Idiot leave it!
No one will know what's underneath but the girls all heard. Haru takes advantage of the situation to go one step further.
H: Hey guys you could make less noise!
Which makes Sans even more uncomfortable. But he's not the only one to be embarrassed, instead of laughing you turned red. Yui don't wait to point it out to you. You tell him it's due to the heat of the baths. Sans returns to the water a little grumpy and Ryan joins him to apologize. He adds in a whisper.
R: Eh Sans? The girls are right next door, we will have no better opportunity to spy on them. Could you blow a hole in the wall with your gaster blaster?
Sans doesn't respond, which reassures you as you overheard their conversation with the other girls. Ryan leans closer to Sans' ear, however he purposely speaks louder.
R: Would you miss the chance to see Y/n naked?
Sans jumps accompanied by you. Ryan adds and starts talking about your curves and that if he didn't take the chance he would do it instead. Sans' eye lights up.
S: You better shut up if you don't want to have a bad time!
Ryan gets scared and Sans puts his head under water.
Exiting the baths, you join the others still completely red, Sans notices. Hyun asks you if everything is okay and Yui says it's because of them. She invites you to go ahead with her. You followed her without saying anything, not daring to look at Sans. Haru smacks Ryan’s head before joining you.
You then arrive at the table where a feast is already served. Your head teacher tells you to take advantage of it because from tomorrow you will be cooking for yourself. With so much diversity Sans can't help but make puns about food, which annoys Haru who seems to sound like Papyrus on it. You start to taste the dishes and you find them delicious. Sans thinks he's running out of Ketchup. Grilby, who always has some on him, takes out a bottle for him. You are outraged to see him waste the food and hands him a dish which Sans hastens to eat. Ryan can't help but say that you look like a little couple. Which makes you jump. Sans lights up his eye.
S: Didn't you have a pretty bad time?
Ryan calms things down.
After the meal, the young people go to bed but you decide to stay and help the guests clear out. Sans joins you and helps with his magic. The hosts thank you and you go to bed as well. Arriving at the intersection which separates your two corridors, you stop to wish each other good night. You're a little sad that you already have to leave Sans. But when he walks past you to leave, he whispers in your ear.
S: The yukata looks great on you.
You are surprised and turn around but he is already gone. Arriving in your room, you are reassured to see that your friends are asleep because they would have quickly realized how much you are blushing...much more than in the baths.
