Unpopular opinion
Ron and/or Hermione should have died in the deathly hallows. And I say this as someone who loves these characters (probably Hermione more than Ron), but here me out
Now let's be fucking real, I really like ron, but he really wasn't skilled or prepared enough to fight in a war against voldemort, be it magically or mentally. And that's ok! He's still 17, he's not meant to be fighting a war. And to some degree he probably knew that the chances of him actually making it were pretty slim too. But he still stuck with Harry anyways coz there's no way he was going to let his best friend go through with this alone. Because that's who ron is, he'd rather die fighting beside his best friend, for his family, his muggleborn gf and for the cause than play it safe and hide.
Now coming to Hermione, things get a tad trickier here. Yes, she is very skilled and powerful and quick on her feet. But is she powerful enough to take on an army of adult DEs who've trained for years and have experience from the first wizarding war? To win against the darkest wizard who ever lived, who's said to be worse than Grindelwald, who's the most powerful wizard in the whole world after Dumbledore? No, I'd say she isn't. Because she's also fucking 17, she's not even done with school yet. But I think she'd live longer than Ron, or that there's a better chance of her making it out alive. But if she did die it would be extra heartbreaking coz a) Harry (and the readers) just lost 2 of the people who had been there from the very beginning, b) Hermione's parents would live on in Australia, not remembering that they had a daughter, not knowing that their daughter gave her life in hopes of saving her friend and creating a better world.
I majorly have 2 specific reasons for being this sadistic. The first one is the fact that the plot dumbs down it's main villain and his followers just to make the kids win. Voldemort (during Harry's time) is probably the dumbest villain ever written, he doesn't live up to his hype. People have already discussed how stupid his gof plan was. In ootp, during the DoM fight Lucius says that voldemort can't come get the prophecy himself coz the ministry is filled with ppl and he would risk revealing himself. But it's possible for 6 mostly dumb teenagers and an army of DEs, (who hv just escaped azkaban and are sought after by the ministry) to enter in undetected? Doesn't đ make đ any đ sense. The supposedly feared DEs who were trained by voldemort himself can't win against a group of teenagers. It's surprising how long it takes them to take the kids down in the DoM battle. The thing is though, this is out of character for ALL of them. It seems like they were dumbed down just so the MCs could make it out alive. Voldemort during the first WW started out as absolutely no one to having the highest class of the wizarding society obeying his every command. The whole wizarding world was so afraid of him that they wouldn't even say his name. The DEs picked out member after member of the original ootp, mostly coz they were outnumbered but also coz they're fucking death eaters. And ur telling me these guys can't fight kids? Pathetic. Also it doesn't make sense that most of the adults from the first war are dead but all the kids live. Like did the war become safer or sm shit? Instead i would have loved it if the trio got away with things in the first few books, but then realised what a war against voldemort actually means later on. But they won't back down, and they'll still stick with their friend and fight for each other and the cause anyways, and that vil have real, legitimate consequences
Now, the second reason is that it would have been an amazing but heartbreaking callback to book 1. Ron sacrifices himself in a game of chess and Hermione says that there are more important things than books and cleverness, like friendship and bravery. Ron's line of "It's you who has to go on Harry, I know it! Not me, not Hermione, you!" would have also come full circle. Back then they were still 11, so they could still get their happy ending. Now they're in a real war and the stakes are higher, but they'll stick to what they started anyways. Ron sacrifices himself so the other 2 can move forwards, Hermione's intelligence gets her further but she still needs to part with Harry. Harry needs to leave them behind and face voldemort alone because that's how it was always meant to be
And finally, it would have given us a more bittersweet ending to the series instead of that vanilla 'all is well' epilogue. Harry has lost almost every one he loved. But there's still life, there's still hope, and he lives by cherishing their memories and making their sacrifice have meaning. Kinda like the ending of the hunger games. Ik this is a kids book, but Harry Potter as a series is incredibly deep and deals with a lot of fucked up shit, so I think it could handle it if it was written well.
Thank you for coming to my TedTalk

Chapter 9 of Found
He looked at her curiously. âSo this colour theoryâŠis that your own creation?â
âMy friend and I made it up in primary school.â
âWhat are you?â
âPurple....â she hesitated, his sincerity worn plainly made her want to tell him every single thing about her life. âIâMum says Iâm her rainbow.â
He smiled softly. âWhat colour is your Mum then?â
âHmm. She has some gold but also pink, lilac, or maybe periwinkle⊠but Matilda said Mumâs more like a sunset, a whole host of them at once and so brilliant when sheâs going on about something, you just kind of stare and watch.â Her cheeks grew even warmer but he only smiled with equal warmth.
âShe sounds wonderful.â He took another sip of his drink and placed it down. âMuch too good to settle for Beige.â
âExactly.â
Iris watched her father, he was still leaning forward, and staring at the shadowed forest. She thought dark green suited him. Like the depths of the forest, or an emerald sea. Mysterious. Calm, but powerful too. His eyes once again met hers, startling her out of her thoughts.
âI think youâll figure it out, Iris. Whatever you're looking for.â
Read the rest here.Â

Hana Mizukami
Hana is the daughter of Minjun and Ae-Cha Mizukami. She is known to be spiteful, Arrogant, Rebellious, Manipulative, Sarcastic, Blunt. She was sorted into Yosamu House at Moahoutokoro.
Short Bio: Hana was raised in a household steeped in the traditions of pure-blood wizardry. Her family, staunchly opposed to Muggles, instilled in her a deep-seated prejudice against those who lacked magical abilities. As a child, she was warned of their ignorance, their destructive nature, and their potential threat to the wizarding world. These teachings shaped her worldview, leading her to view Muggles with suspicion and disdain. Her upbringing had created a chasm between her and the Muggle world, making it difficult for her to bridge the gap and understand those she had been taught to fear.
Hana's face claim is Roseanne Park. This role is open.

I'd say where the dissonance really starts, when it comes to the portrayal of the Jedi in more recent Star Wars stories, is the perception of what the Prequels are about.
They're not about the Jedi.
George Lucas said over and over that they're about:
How a democracy turns into a dictatorship, we see this in the background of the films, as the Republic descends into becoming the Empire.
That first theme is then paralleled with a second theme: how a good kid becomes a bad man. We see this in the more character-driven and personal exploration of Anakinâs fall to the Dark Side.
The Prequelsâ focus is on Anakin and the Republic, these films are not primarily about the fall of the Jedi. In fact, Iâd argue they arenât about the Jedi at all!
And when you look at the original backstory, youâll notice that it also primarily focuses on:
The political subplot of the Republicâs downfall and Palpatine becoming the Emperor.
Anakinâs turn and his betrayal of the Jedi.Â
So, there too⊠the Jedi themselves arenât really that big a part of the Prequelsâ original idea. They aren't mentioned much, beyond their trying to save the Senate and getting wiped out.
The Star Wars movies aren't about the Jedi, they're about Anakin and Luke, they're about Obi-Wan and Padmé and Han and Leia, the Rebellion vs the Empire, the fall of the Republic.
They're not about Ben and Yoda and Mace and Ki-Adi and Plo Koon and Shaak Ti and Luminara.
Just like Harry Potter isn't about Dumbledore and McGonagall. Just like the Lord of the Rings isn't about Gandalf.
On a functional level, the Jedi are:
POV characters who witness the events unfold with their hands tied, they're our anchors, whose eyes we see through to see democracy crumble into dictatorship.
Embodiments/vectors of the message George Lucas wanted to get across through these movies, which is the conflict between selfishness & selflessness, greed & compassion (Sith & Jedi).
But that's about it.
However, if you ask todayâs fans and Star Wars creatives, most will say the Prequels are about the fall of the Jedi Order.
This is a take shared by a big chunk of the fandom, including various filmmakers, authors, and executives involved with Star Wars, so much so that the time period the Prequel films cover has now been redubbed by Lucasfilm as the âFall of the Jedi eraâ.
Which leaves us with a question... why? Why the dissonance?
My guess? It's because the Jedi are cool. They're awesome.
And deep down, they wanted the Prequels to be about the Jedi. About the Jedi Knights at their height, errant warriors like the Knights of the Round Table.
And they didn't get that. They got a bunch of diplomats serving a political institution. And that didn't make sense, right? That's not what they expected so it's bad. And it's Star Wars. It's Lucas. It can't be bad, right? So like... what were they missing?
Oh... wait... what if... that's the point? That the Jedi were supposed to be Knight Errants and being guided by the Force instead of like - ew - space ambassadors for the Republic. Yeah now it all makes sense.
The Jedi in the Prequels aren't what we wanted them to be and that's their failure! Like, it's not just that I didn't like them because they weren't likeable to me, it's that I'm not supposed to like them because the narrative totally says so--
-- it doesn't.
The Jedi preach and practice the same Buddhist values as George Lucas, mirroring what he says in interviews almost verbatim.
The relationship between Obi-Wan and Anakin/Qui-Gon mirrors the dynamic between Lucas and Coppola.
The designs of the Jedi and their temple had to be toned down because they looked too bureaucratic and systemic.
This is Lucas we're talking about. "On the nose" is his middle name. He named the drug-peddling sleazebag "Elan Sleazebaggano." He ditched an elaborate introduction of General Grievous in exchange for just "the doors slide open, in walks Grievous and he's ugly."
If he had really been hell bent on framing the Jedi as elitist squares who lost their way and were mired in bureaucracy, he would've made them and the Jedi Temple look like the authorities in THX-1138.
They weren't likeable to some fans because, well, they weren't developed or shown as much as someone like Anakin. Because it's not about them. It's not their story. It's Anakin's. It's Luke's. It's their respective friends'. Or maybe it's an adversity to "perfect goody two-shoes" characters (which the Jedi are not). But hey, it's a movie for kids. Some 2-dimensionality is forgivable.
Bottom line, had more time been spent on the Jedi, had Lucas made the Prequels into a limited show and give them a whole subplot, had he decided to do away with the 30s serial dialog and let someone else write the dialog, maybe the reception might've been different.
But that's what we got. And guess what it's fine.
It's more than fine, it's fucking awesome.
I proudly and confidently say that I love the Prequels, with and without The Clone Wars.
I love my space monks, I love that they're diplomat wizards, I love that there's such a variety of them, I love that Mace is a no-bullshit guy who genuinely cares about his fellow Jedi and how screwed the Republic is, and Yoda is wise and kind but also a gremlin weirdo who'll embarass you in front of a classroom full of kids, and Ki-Adi has a penis for a head, is constantly calm and yet goes down like a champ even though they take him by surprise. I love that Shaak Ti can kung fu an army full of Magna Guards and still have the energy to charge at Grievous. I love that Obi-Wan is a sass machine who is also hilariously oblivious to the fact that he's just as terrible as Anakin.
They're awesome even if they're not perfect. They're awesome because they're not perfect.
But the movies are not really their story.
They're Anakin's. They're Luke's. They're the Republic's and the Rebellion's. And the fight against a space Nazi emperor/empire.

THEODORE NOTT HAD ALWAYS ADMIRED YOUR FIERCE SPIRIT, THE WAY YOU STOOD UP FOR YOURSELF AND OTHERS. As a Slytherin, you had a reputation for your sharp mind and quick temper. Losing your temper was something that could be considered common in your case. The initial spark of your heated nature might be something small â a careless feather â but it came hurling at just the right (or wrong) moment.
As the spark caught, the heat rose. Your pulse quickened, a thrumming beat that matched the rising fury in your chest. Every muscle in your body tensed, coiled tight like a spring about to snap. Your hands clenched into fists, nails digging into your palms. Your breath came in shallow, rapid bursts, each one stoking the flames higher.
Your mind, normally a place of rational thought and control, became a battlefield. Rationality and restraint were shoved aside by a bunch of thoughts, each one more inflamed and irrational than the last. Words formed on your tongue, sharp and cutting, begging to be unleashed. The desire to lash out, to make the other person feel a fraction of what you're experiencing, was overwhelming.
And then, the dam broke. Anger spilled out in a flood, uncontainable and consuming. You shouted, your voice raised in a volume that surprised even you.
Most students knew better than to cross you, but occasionally, someone would test your limits. Today was one of those days.
The library was unusually crowded, with students cramming for their upcoming exams. The typically quiet environment was buzzing with hushed conversations and the rustling of pages. You and Theo had managed to secure a quiet corner, away from the main crowd of students who spent their free time with their noses buried in books, hoping to get some much-needed studying done.
You sat with Theo at a wooden table, the light from the nearby window casting a soft glow over your textbooks and notes. Trying to focus on an essay you were writing at the moment, you were barely containing your irritation at the persistent whispering of a group of Gryffindors nearby. They had been whispering and snickering for the past hour, their disruptive presence gnawing at your already frayed nerves. The Potions essay wouldn't write itself and you clearly couldn't pay all of your attention on it with the boys in the same place as you.
One of the Gryffindors, a tall boy with a mop of dirty hair, seemed to be the leader of his little group. He leaned closer to his friends, his voice carrying over despite his attempt to whisper. Someone had trouble learning in kindergarten. "Did you hear about the Slytherin who thought she was actually good at Potions? What a joke. And she proclaimed her supposed knowledge for the whole class to hear. It was embarrassing."
The grip you had on your quill tightened, and you felt the heat of anger rising to your cheeks. Theo, sitting beside you, noticed the change in your demeanor. He knew you well enough to recognize the warning signs: the slight narrowing of your eyes, the tension in your shoulders. It'd come to hell in any second.
"Stay calm," your boyfriend murmured next to you in a low tone, placing a gentle hand on your arm. But his words did little to soothe the simmering anger within you.
The Gryffindor continued with his snickering, his friends laughing at the cruel remarks he made. The final straw came when he leaned back and made a particularly rude comment about Slytherins in general, causing his friends to burst into louder laughter. They were practically asking for it.
You snapped.
Slamming your quill down, you stood up abruptly, the force of your movement knocking over your ink pot and spilling its contents on the table. Your essay was now soaked in a deep blue puddle. "That's enough!" you hissed, your voice echoing through the library. "Get out of here before I make you regret ever stepping foot in this place."
The Gryffindor turned to you with a death wish sparkling in his eyes, a mocking grin spreading across his face. "Oh, look, the Slytherin princess has something to say. What are you going to do about it?"
Before you could respond, Theo stood up and placed himself between you and the Gryffindors, his posture calm but his eyes cold. He placed a firm hand on your shoulder, grounding you as he leaned down to your level to whisper to you.
"Let's not make this worse," he said quietly, his eyes locked on yours. "They're not worth it."
You could see the concern in his eyes, the silent plea for you to stand down. It was a look that Theo had perfected over the years, a look that had saved you from countless confrontations.
"Listen to him, princess," the Gryffindor jeered, clearly enjoying the spectacle. "Maybe your boyfriend can teach you some manners."
The rage within you flared again, and you took a step forward, but Theo's grip tightened, holding you back. His voice was steady, a stark contrast to the storm brewing inside you.
"Walk away," Theo said, his tone firm. "This isn't the time or place."
The muscles in your jaw clenched tightly, a testament to the restraint you were barely managing to hold onto. Oh, those boys were making you so mad. Your fingers twitched, itching to release the pent-up energy that crackled just beneath the surface. Your heart pounded loudly in your chest, each beat echoing the unspoken rage coursing through your veins. It felt like a fire burning hot, threatening to consume you whole if you didn't find a way to let it out.
Theo's hand on your shoulder was a lifeline, his touch both calming and steadying. The warmth of his skin against yours contrasted sharply with the cold anger simmering inside you. His fingers, lightly but firmly gripped your shoulder. He was your anchor, the one thing that could pull you back from the void.
You inhaled deeply, the breath shaky and uneven. The sound of your own breathing was loud in your ears, a rhythmic reminder of the effort it took to calm yourself. You focused on the small details: the way the light filtered through the dusty windows, casting long shadows across the floor; the faint rustle of pages as a student turned a book somewhere in the back; the distant ticking of a clock, each second a tiny victory in your battle against the anger.
Theo's eyes never left yours, their pale blue depths filled with a mixture of worry and reassurance. He knew you better than anyone, knew the struggle you faced in moments like these. His silent plea, combined with his comforting presence, was a balm to your frayed nerves. He was your refuge, the one person who could understand and temper the fire within you.
Slowly, the heat began to fade. The tightness in your chest eased, and the tension in your muscles started to relax. The world around you began to come back into focus, the red haze lifting to reveal the familiar surroundings of the library. The anger, though not entirely gone, was now manageable, a controlled burn rather than a raging inferno.
Theo's gentle squeeze on your shoulder was the final push you needed. His touch, his presence, his unwavering support â they were enough to pull you back from the brink. With one last deep breath, you gave a curt nod, signaling your surrender to his plea. The fire within you had been quelled, at least for now, and you were ready to walk away.
You took a deep breath, trying to calm the tempest within. The Gryffindor's smug face made it difficult, but Theo's presence gave you the strength to pull back.
"Fine," you muttered, your voice low and dangerous. "But this isn't over."
Theo guided you away from the scene, his arm around your shoulders as he led you toward the library exit. The cold stone walls and dim lighting provided a stark contrast to the heated atmosphere you had just left behind.
Just as you were about to leave, Madam Pince appeared, her sharp eyes blazing with anger. "Out! Both of you!" she snapped. "I will not have this kind of behavior in my library. Out, now!"
You opened your mouth to protest, but Theo gave you a gentle nudge, urging you to comply. With a sigh, you followed him out of the library, the door closing behind you with a resounding thud.
Once you were a safe distance away from the commotion, Theo stopped and turned to you, his expression softening into one of genuine concern. The corridor they had led you to was dimly lit, with the flickering torches casting warm, dancing shadows on the ancient stone walls. The distant murmur of the library faded, leaving only the quiet hum of the castle and the steady rhythm of your breaths.
Theo's eyes searched your face for any signs of lingering distress. He reached out, gently brushing a strand of hair away from your forehead, his touch tender and reassuring. The warmth of his hand lingered on your skin, a comforting contrast to the cool air of the castle.
"Are you okay?" he asked, his voice soft and soothing.
You took a deep breath, the remnants of anger and frustration slowly ebbing away with each exhale. The tightness in your chest began to loosen, replaced by a growing sense of calm. You looked up at Theo, your eyes meeting his, and saw the genuine worry etched in his features. It was a look that made your heart ache with gratitude and affection because despite his own problems, he only really cared about you. Nothing else mattered.
"I'm better now," you admitted, your voice a little shaky but honest. "Thanks to you."
Theo's lips curved into a gentle smile, his hand moving to rest on your chin to lift it up a bit. His touch was light, almost hesitant, as if he was afraid of overwhelming you. But it was exactly what you needed â a quiet, steady presence that grounded you, reminding you that you weren't alone.
"You don't have to thank me," he said softly. "I just want to make sure you're okay. That's all that matters to me."
The sincerity in his voice warmed you from the inside out, chasing away the last remnants of your earlier rage. You could feel the tension in your body melting away, replaced by a sense of safety and comfort. Theo had always had that effect on you, his calm and steady nature balancing your fiery temperament.
"I don't know what I'd do without you," you said, your voice barely above a whisper. "You always know how to calm me down, even when I'm ready to explode."
Theo chuckled softly, the sound a soothing melody in the quiet corridor. "That's what boyfriends are for," he replied, his eyes twinkling with a mixture of humor and affection. "Besides, you've got a good heart. You just need someone to remind you of that when things get tough."
You felt a rush of warmth at his words, your heart swelling with gratitude and something deeper, something that made your chest ache in the best possible way. Theo had always seen the best in you, even when you struggled to see it yourself. His unwavering belief in you was a beacon, guiding you through the stormiest of tempers.
"You're too good to me," you murmured, leaning into his touch, drawing strength from his unwavering presence.
For a moment, you stood there in the dimly lit corridor, the world outside fading into insignificance. It was just you and Theo, wrapped in a bubble of quiet understanding and unspoken promises. His hand slipped from your chin to your back, pulling you into a gentle embrace. You rested your head against his chest, listening to the steady beat of his heart, finding solace in its rhythmic assurance. His arms around you were a shield, protecting you from the world and from your own worst impulses.
As you stood there, wrapped in Theo's embrace, you realized just how lucky you were to have him in your life. He was your rock, your anchor, the one person who could calm the storm within you. And in that moment, you knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, you could face them as long as you had Theo by your side.
When the world burned, Theo was the only one who could save you. Strange what love will make people do.
