How much do you think Severus was surprised to "learn" Sirius "became" a Death Eater? He obviously ironcladly believed Sirius to be guilty during the Shrieking Shack scene in PoA, but that is a little odd, because... isn't it implied that Severus himself became a Death Eater in part due to wanting to get away as far as possible from the Marauders? Like, I don't think Severus would join Voldemort if he ever thought that it ever would be in character to James or Sirius to join Voldemort as well.
I’ve always thought that the whole situation with Sirius being sent to Azkaban is a huge plot hole, and I’ve felt that way since I first read the books. Seriously, Dumbledore didn’t step in to see what had actually happened? The Potters are killed, and no one makes him drink Veritaserum or uses Legilimency to see if he was really guilty? They just send him to prison like that? It feels like a deus ex machina to make the plot work, especially because, as you mentioned, someone like Severus had no idea. And even if Severus didn’t have much information at the time, are you seriously telling me he never mentioned it to the Malfoys? That Lucius, who was in high society and Bellatrix’s brother-in-law, didn’t know either? And yet, it’s not suspicious? That Dumbledore never mentioned it to him to see if he could get to the bottom of it? It all seems too convenient, with everyone pointing fingers at Sirius without questioning it for a single moment. It really feels quite implausible.

Ongoing | Drarry | Slow Burn | Seer!Draco Malfoy | Hogwarts Third Year | Ancient And Most Noble House Of Black |
Ante Meridiem by adahara
Draco looks into the mirror, and the mirror looks back into him.
This is what it sees in him: Black blood like poison in his veins, magical blood tracing up the lines of a family tree. There was power in blood like that, the natural fucking selection that made people treat the Noble and Most Ancient House of Black like pureblooded royalty. With power came gifts. They ran down along the tree and cropped up from generation to generation; the madness and the beauty, the ability to shift the details of ones face like a creature undergoing metamorphosis, and this, the most cursed gift of all, to look inside yourself and find only the future waiting for you.
The gift clicks open in Draco like a long awaited Pandora’s Box, and with a frantic breath of air, the future comes spilling out.
Or; Draco Malfoy comes back to Hogwarts carrying the gift of a seer and the weight of a legacy on his shoulders. With a killer on the loose and the world quickly growing darker around him, he learns to take the future into his own hands.

Both the cover and back of my copy of PoA have fallen off and the spine is peeling. Also all the pages are bent (what can I say even little me knew haha :) ) So the question is what do I do when pages start falling out because I want to keep reading but I can’t buy another copy because then I’m supporting she-who-must-not-be-named?
Do I go on Etsy? Does that even count? Anyone? What do I do?

I need to get this off my chest
So we all know how Lupin turns into a wearwolf almost every month, and me an afab girl who deals with periods every month (And didn’t know what a lycanthropy was) so I have decided to call his transformation a wearwolf period. This is what I’ve been calling since reading prisioner of azkaban and I need to get this word out

"Snape was a horrible and resentful guy who told everyone that Lupin was a werewolf so they would fire him."
Correction: Severus was quite a bastard and very resentful, yes, but if he told everyone that Lupin was a werewolf to get him fired, it was because Lupin was a damn irresponsible idiot and posed a danger to the safety of the students. Because Lupin, at 33 years old, decided not to take the Wolfsbane Potion. Because the condition for someone who could pose a mortal danger to the people around them, if they want to be IN CHARGE of children and teenagers, must always be that they are responsible and take measures to ensure they are neither a danger nor a threat. And he didn’t do that. He completely disregarded his dose, and just as he did it that time, he could’ve done it again, and no one could guarantee that he would behave responsibly at the next full moon.
So Snape, who yes, was quite an asshole and had a nasty streak (and we adore him for it because, honestly, there’s nothing more unbearable than having to deal with the screw-ups of your highly incompetent coworkers), decided to cut his losses. And he did well. Any parent with a shred of common sense would agree that it’s not okay to discriminate against someone because of their condition, but if that condition involves mortal danger, then the person in question must be responsible, and if they aren’t, then they shouldn’t work with children. Severus wasn’t just a professor and Dumbledore’s spy; he was also the only adult doing anything to make sure the kids didn’t end up dead before the end of every school year. So I completely understand that he didn’t want the extra headache of monitoring whether Lupin took his potion every damn month or if he decided to put his two comatose braincells together and act like an independent adult.
I mean, on top of the fact that Snape had to work on the Wolfsbane Potion for a guy who spent his entire adolescence ignoring the bullying his friends inflicted on him and staying silent about it despite knowing it was wrong—on top of having to work extra hours to keep him human—the idiot then goes and doesn’t take his potion? Well, screw him, guys, I’m sorry. Say what you want, but Severus was being the responsible adult in this case, whether you like it or not.

I’m re-watching Prisioner of Azkaban tonight. I’ve always felt like it was the best of the movies. There are little whimsical touches all the way through that make the world feel more magical. Like the music they play during the bogart lesson in DADA, or the way Harry is slung about while riding the Knight Bu, or Ron’s muttering in his sleep about spiders making him tap dance.
I also love the beautiful extra scenes with the whomping Willow that show the changing of the seasons. The way it shakes off it’s leaves in fall.
The aesthetic shifts from the previous movies. Flitwick looks different. The fat lady looks different. It makes the fact that they had to replace the actor who played Dumbledore seem less startling.
Finally, there are so many aspects that feel like a horror movie. The scene on the train with the dementors. The way the portculus drops with the night sky as a backdrop as they seal off the castle.
Among the Potter movies, PoA is a singular movie. I wish the rest had been more like it.
