If Snape was using Occlumency to shield his mind from Voldemort, why didn’t Voldemort become suspicious that Snape was hiding something since he couldn’t penetrate his mind with Legilimency?
Tumblr media
It’s because Snape did something far cleverer than merely “shielding his mind” from Lord Voldemort.
As one can make out from their interactions, Snape seemed to be the only Death Eater whom Voldemort ever had any modicum of respect for. You don’t merit Lord Voldemort’s esteem by being incompetent or stupid. Snape clearly earned his spot as Voldemort’s most revered servant by proving himself and being the asset that he was.
See, Snape never lied to Voldemort. Snape knew that Voldemort’s skill in Legillemency would immediately alert him to duplicity, so instead, Snape only told Voldemort the truth.
When Voldemort first returned, Snape justified his initial absconding from the Death Eaters by saying that he thought Voldemort had been vanquished in Godric’s Hollow. In The Prince’s Tale, we learn that this is actually true. Snape thought Voldemort had gone, and it was only Dumbledore who insisted that he would one day return. Later, he told Bellatrix that Voldemort forgave him for impeding him in his plot to purloin the Philosopher’s Stone because he did not know Voldemort was the mastermind behind the enterprise, and only thought that “unworthy” Professor Quirrell (whom Snape hated for getting the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher position) was trying to take the Stone for himself. Again, this turns out to be completely true.
Snape then spent 2 years “spying” on Dumbledore, and relayed what little he knew of the Headmaster’s activities to Voldemort. Dumbledore chose to keep Snape in the dark on most of his plots, which was actually (justifiably I might add) a source of great frustration for Snape. Then he killed Dumbledore just as Voldemort wanted.
Before the Battle of the Seven Potters, Snape gave Voldemort the correct date of Harry’s departure from Little Whinging. He correctly pointed out that Yaxley had been given a false trail, and truthfully divulged that the Order of the Phoenix distrusted the Ministry and the Auror office and wanted nothing to do with the institution. Re-read the scene from The Dark Lord Ascending in the books and pay close attention to the description of Voldemort’s body language. He hangs on to every word Snape says with great interest, and invites Snape to sit by his side. Meanwhile he ignores and then silences Yaxley (whom he shunts beside Dolohov), and expresses contempt for the Malfoys and Bellatrix by humiliating them. But Snape he holds in far higher regard, arguably valuing him more than anyone save for his beloved Nagini.
Voldemort was quite correct in recognizing Snape as an impressively talented and exceptionally intelligent wizard. He just never calculated that Snape’s cunning could be used against him. Even if Voldemort had decided to raid Snape’s mind, he would’ve found little of interest. Snape’s love for Lily Potter was already known to Voldemort (and he foolishly underestimated it, just as he did with Lily’s love for Harry), and the fact that he spent a great deal of time scheming with Dumbledore would not have perturbed Voldemort, but would’ve pleased him. That was literally the job that Snape was given; to earn Dumbledore’s trust and spy on him, and then relay his plans to Voldemort.
Snape’s deception of Voldemort is honestly one of the most underrated feats in the entire series, not necessarily because it was magically impressive (although it was), but because it was carried out so cleverly. As was made clear by his potion riddle all the way back in Philosopher’s Stone, Snape’s greatest talent was his cleverness, which so many wizards seem to lack. Hermione was quite right in recognizing Snape’s genius.
Snape fooled Voldemort with the truth, not with lies. That’s how he got away with it for so long.
Our Snapey has the brightest mind in the entire series, period. 🖤

Can you talk about the cursed child?
I have two main questions when it comes to The Cursed Child. The first is... why was this project made? Because it wasn’t for the money, and it wasn’t for the fans, so I have to assume it was for JK Rowling herself. And my second question is - who is Jack Thorne????
Because he wrote it. John Tiffany is a director who works with Thorne and it's based on a “story” by JKR. But Jack Thorne is a kinda highbrow, kinda indie English playwright, and he clearly wrote most if not all of it. The biggest thing he had done at the time was a stage adaptation of indie Swedish vampire film Let the Right One In, so back 2016 I was asking myself - why is he attached to this project. (Is he related to JKR? Did he win a contest? Is he just that charming?)
But now I’ve got a theory. See, Jack Thorne has one other very important credit. He is the showrunner and head writer of the well-regarded HBO His Dark Materials TV show adaptation… AND that TV show and Cursed Child were in production at the exact same time. There’s no real way of knowing which project came first - they were both announced in 2015, and Cursed Child was announced first, but then a stage play needs a whole lot less pre-production than three seasons of a prestige television show.
What I think (but cannot prove) is this: JKR got wind of the His Dark Materials HBO TV series, and thought ‘I want one of those too.’ Especially because she is now in the process of getting exactly that.
I can’t actually prove that JKR is even aware of the His Dark Materials franchise… but I very much suspect that she is. Northern Lights/Golden Compass was released two years before Philosopher's Stone, and… a British author, YA , fantasy, seems like you’d want to read that for market research purposes alone - or at least keep tabs on it to make sure it was doing well. I also think there’s a similar vibe to the worldbuilding, a certain kind of ‘urban fantasy, but make it pre-industrial revolution’ that you don’t get with like, Edith Nesbit, the fantasy writer JKR most often credits as an influence.
Now His Dark Materials was a failed film series. They made one in 2007 with plans to make more, and it didn’t really go anywhere. I was a huge fan of both HDM and HP at the time, and I liked the film… but even then I thought it was hurting itself by trying so hard to be Harry Potter, when the tone of HDM was always darker and more sinister. It was nice to watch the HBO show treat the source material as basically a gritty adult drama (which it always was, just told through an intelligent child’s POV.)
Marketing of movie vs marketing of TV show:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Movie Lyra vs TV show Lyra:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
HOWEVER. I think it would be very easy, if you were JKR, to see the new series as an adaptation of a children's book (comparable to Harry Potter), only marketed to adults. And you might think... that's kind of a cool idea. So I don’t know who approached who. But I do think that at some point Jack Thorne and J. K. Rowling were in the same room, and someone suggested… why don’t we give Harry Potter a little bit of the His Dark Materials treatment.
Because both vibe-wise and theme-wise, there are A LOT of comparisons you can make between the HBO His Dark Materials and The Cursed Child. They’re both fantasy with a kind of gloomy and oppressive feel. They focus a lot on bad parents, especially parents unable to communicate with their kids. They both feature alternate universes as a major theme, and the main plot of both revolves around a (doomed) attempt to resurrect a sacrificed innocent, and various adults attempting to separate a pair of friends. (The relationship between Albus and Scorpius is easily the best part of Cursed Child. Especially Scorpius, who is lovely.) But like… no one wanted a version of Harry Potter that felt like a knockoff version of His Dark Materials.
To me, Cursed Child feels less like an adaptation, and more of an attempt to recontextualize the original Harry Potter books into something more serious and more impressive. Cursed Child reframes Harry’s whole deal as being caught in a cycle of abuse due to the Dursleys… which the show frames so much more threateningly than the books ever did.
This play also does not frame Ron/Hermione as the best marriage... which makes me think of the when JKR told the Sunday Times
I wrote the Hermione/Ron relationship as a form of wish fulfillment. That's how it was conceived, really. For reasons that have very little to do with literature and far more to do with me clinging to the plot as I first imagined it... if I'm absolutely honest, distance has given me perspective on that. It was a choice I made for very personal reasons, not for reasons of credibility.
And then Cursed Child gives us a little Hermione/Snape, and we know how JKR feels about Snape. We revisit a lot of Slytherin characters actually, and it turns out they’re not just bad guys! Albus is in Slytherin (even though the end of Book 7 was written in a way that REALLY heavily implied he would ask to be Gryffindor just like Harry did.) The ‘all Slytherins are baddies’ thing seems to be an aspect of the worldbuilding that JKR is attempting to retcon. The earliest example of this is the 2008 interview where she talks about “Slughorn galloping back with Slytherins [to rejoin the battle of Hogwarts] but they’d gone off to get reinforcements first,” which… does not happen. That is not a thing that happens in the book. Slughorn comes back with reinforcements, but the Slytherin students spend the battle locked in the dungeon. JKR was was also okay with the last three Potter films framing Draco way more positively than the books do, a trend which continues into Cursed Child. Draco’s easily the best parent in the whole thing.)
And (possibly the most important bit of recontextualization…) I think Cursed Child was supposed to make the Epilogue seem good, instead of something that all her fans either made fun of… or completely ignored.
In a lot of ways, I think JKR is doing a George Lucas, but instead of going back and re-cutting, re-mastering and adding to the original work the way he is - she’s writing more and more sequels (and more and more additional material) in an attempt to make  the problems of the earlier books go away.
I could talk for a very long time about The Cursed Child. Yes, everyone is out of character, yes it’s world breaking, it contradicts the original series all the time, it doesn’t work structurally, it doesn't work that the villain is Voldemort's secret daughter Evil Tonks, and it reads like fanfiction (in the sense that it uses tons of fanfiction tropes, often not super well.) I probably will talk about that stuff more eventually, but first I wanted to make sense of why it even exists, in the first place.

OK need more on this delicious idea:
The most obvious example is the Regulus plot (which in retrospect reads like maybe vestigial foreshadowing of a different outline for Deathly Hallows?)
What do you think this different outline of DH could be?
Totally! I might have been off, but I thought the #LocketGate reveal at the end of Book 6 was meant to indicate Regulus had some role in Book 7 — possibly as a plot mechanic or as the central "mystery" of the book that the Golden Trio have to work out. Like, maybe Regulus left clues for them to find in order to figure out how to destroy the horcruxes, or to find the hallows, or to find a secret weapon to kill Voldemort, something, whatever. Because having Regulus defect from Voldemort and successfully steal/swap the lockets, only for him to die anyway and for the locket to end up stuck in a cabinet in Grimmauld Place, is like... kinda disappointing and weird for something that's so important to the plot? Because it cuts the legs out of the pre-climax of Book 6, i.e. Dumbledore's sacrifice and Harry's fight with the inferi, for the horcrux to have been stuck under the floorboards at Grimmauld Place the whole time.
Also, sorry: lame!! That's a lame development. It is dull. It is boring and dry. It gut-punches your dramatic tension for any re-reads of Book 6 and it means the ultimate "finding the horcrux" moment gets shunted into the first act of Book 7, which should have been about setting up the war conflict. It also violates the fantasy author's Rule of Cool, which demands that, all else being equal, you should choose the option that is more badass, fun, or sexy, precisely because it is more badass, fun, or sexy. Sometimes it's fine to just make a decision because it's going to be more fun to read! If it doesn't injure the story, there's nothing wrong with that! And I think the locket in the cave should have EITHER been the real thing, in which case Dumbledore's sacrifice and Harry's struggle would have been rewarded with another horcrux being destroyed and we could have dived headfirst into the "how do we kill them?" plot in 7 — OR, it could be a fakeout, but then make that note/clue part of a bigger and more interesting mystery plot in Book 7.
Also, not that it matters, but all the other Harry Potter books have central mysteries in them. It's usually what they're named for: the philosopher's stone (what's behind Fluffy?), the chamber of secrets (who's the heir?), the prisoner of azkaban (what does Sirius want with Harry?), the goblet of fire (who put in harry's name?), the order of the phoenix (what's in the Department of Mysteries?) and half-blood prince (who is he?) But then the hallows just. Aren't. I'm not interested in what they are, I don't care what they do, I'm never given reason to think they're relevant to the story that currently exists — at BEST they explain why Voldemort isn't pursuing Harry more intentionally in the story, because he's obsessed with collecting Hallows first, but was that necessary? Because i would have believed that dude was just busy prosecuting his literal war effort against the government. It would have been way cooler (imo) for the final mystery to be Harry figuring out the nature of his connection with Voldemort, unveiling the horcrux mystery for himself, rather than Ghost Dumbledore dropping it on him via Mind Limbo. So that's my case for Regulus being the setup for the central mystery of Book 7.

Recently I got recommended a lot of videos criticizing Harry Potter and no videos talking about how great Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality is instead. Like, if you want a better version of the story, just read this fanfiction by Eliezer Yudkowsky.
In his AU:
-Harry gets adopted by Petunia and an Oxford professor and is homeschooled in science
-When he gets into the wizarding world he is irritated by the society’s bigotry and backwardness and wants to change the world by fusing magic and science
-He is accepted into Ravenclaw and so is Hermione
-He befriends Draco instead of Ron and slowly makes him question his beliefs and actually become a better person
-Hermione has a lot of screen time and her own arcs including the one where she fights against misogyny in heroism
-there’s a homestuck reference
-there’s a death note reference
-at some point Harry bullies the sorting hat
-Voldemort (or rather his actual identity) is a well-written character with interesting backstory and goals
- the plot point where Harry is Voldemort’s horcrux plays a big role in this
-at some point Voldemort uses a gun
-there’s a scientific explanation to how spirits and patronus work
-there’s an mlp reference
-one of the hocruxes is in space
-the Philosopher’s stone is canonically created by two lesbians and one of them is baba yaga

Hi!!!! I recently read When the Wolf Comes Home and I loved the premise the where the fic was heading. I know it hasn't been updated since 2017 so I was wondering if there was any intention of finishing it? I know it's possible you've moved on from that fandom and that is totally fine! If you are, would it be possible to share where you wanted to take the fic? Thank you, I absolutely loved your writing!!!
im a little stuck on that one because yeah i do sometimes noodle a little more on it and i had a pretty solid plot for the first year, after which i was going to be Very Firmly Done because so many rewrites attempt to take on the whole seven year span and founder on the complexity. but the problem is im really ambivalent and undecided on how much i want to participate in harry potter fandom at this late date, with JKR going mask-off nazi sympathizer. it's a weird situation where you can't argue for death of the author when the author is annoyingly alive and arguing that you should be dead.
im deeply reluctant to denounce people still participating in a fandom that i myself found incredibly fun and rewarding for, yknow, several decades of my life, and i don't think i'm better than them, just fortunate to be more interested in other projects.
but ambivalence towards the fandom and deep resentment towards the creator aren't really a productive headspace to actually write in, and i also don't want to finally work through my own doubts, finish another chapter, and then get my head torn off by people who are certain that i'm supporting JKR's toxic fuckwittery.
all in all it's easier and more rewarding to play with other fandoms and work on my many original projects.
where the fic was going:
as far as i remember, in When The Wolf Comes Home, draco was going to get his dad to hire lupin as his defense against the dark arts tutor and rent out the shrieking shack for the man to work out of, thus circumventing the curse on the DADA position and giving draco a werewolf mentor and independent bolt-hole.
quirrelmort was going to continue trying to figure out how to use or dispose of draco on his way to get the philosopher stone, a side-plot draco knew almost nothing about. draco would continue to try to maneuver harry into quirrel's way and snape out of his way, with indifferent success. harry and ron, lacking any voice of reason to temper their enthusiastic partnership of 'baby griffindors looking cool in front of their first real friend ever', would continue to believe that draco, the saddest wet puppy, was an evil monster and the cause of all their misfortunes. draco would continue to be the most mentally and emotionally unstable kid in the castle, taking all the heat off neville, who would end up looking fairly cool and collected by comparison. rita skeeter would feature somewhere in there, hired by narcissa to write little puff pieces on how tragic and brave draco was being about going to school with such a tragic disability.
remus lupin would end up with a full schedule tutoring DADA students about to take their NEWTs and OWLs and make a bunch of money. with lucius as his patron and PR agent, he would be accepted in hogsmeade as a dashing and heroic warlock who had been off having reams of secret agent adventures as dumbledore's key man in the muggle world. remus would not really know what to do with this but eat as much as possible and smile gamely when lucius showed him off to people.
eventually towards the end of the year quirrel would get rid of draco by orchestrating a fight between ron and draco where ron cut his fist on draco's teeth. this would count as a bite and draco would get thrown in azkaban and belatedly realize that he had completely and totally forgotten about sirius black's whole Saddest Wet Dog situation. sirius would do his best to take care of his tiny insane werepuppy cousin until the malfoys and longbottoms and weasleys combined to lever draco back out, using ron's ashamed testimony. draco would immediately turn around and reveal scabbers. the malfoys would end up looking like champions of truth and justice and the weasleys would, unfortunately, have to just stand there and smile gamely for the cameras.
while all this was happening harry would go after quirrel with hermione and neville and take him down. dumbledore would show up at the end, when voldemort was defeated and sirius was exonerated and several deep family feuds had been laid aside, to dispense twinkling paternal wisdom.
draco would kick him in the fork.
THE END.

Random Not Sober AU notes I found on my phone after last night that get simpler as they go:
1) FMA/HP Au where Lily is Hohenhiem’s kid and she goes to Amestris to meet her father and half brothers with her husband James. Along the way they hook up with Roy Mustang. Harry is his bio kid. Then of course the Potters die and Dumbledore sucks so much he just drops the baby off at the Elric’s house unaware Trisha died and Hoenheim fucked off. Cue Ed and Al raising their nephew. Then of course we have human transmutation, Roy coming and Al going: oh hey wasn't some of the notes Lily left saying you were Harry’s dad?
This 100% would end with Parental Roy having three gremlin kids, Harry going through human transmutation to get rid of the Horocrux in exchange for Al, and then CHAOS at Hogwarts.
2) A really weird AU where Hoenheim slept with a woman in Xing when he was first there who had a kid she kept secret so no one could worship them or do weird shit. The kid had a kid and so on until they left Xing after their clan was attacked, they got to Amestris, got married and had a son. Roy Mustang.
This also included Hoenheim having another child with an Ishvalan woman before he met Trisha. His daughter went on to have two sons: Scar and his brother.
I have no idea where I was going with this. But its amusing.
3) BNHA AU where Space Orcs tropes happen but I include the period stuff I talked about. Izuku is a trans guy who gets snatched with Jirou. I planned on Quirks being a thing still according to my notes. Izuku has PCOS. Legit ends up passing clots cause its one of those periods. Empathy Alien (Mina) is sobbing.
4) FMAB AU where the Homunculi all murder Father because they hate him and just chill. Greed finds Hohenheim and finds out about the boys. Decides Hohenheim is a bad dad so he goes off to be weird cousin Greed along with the others. They still try human transmutation and get into the military where Bradley is like: why is my baby cousin- Que Ed being known as the Fuher’s cousin.
5) self insert wakes up as Envy. Basically they go fuck the plot turn into a cat and hang around the elric brothers.
6) Like a half page ramble about Girl!Bakugou and how she would be meaner then her canon self to male Izuku and just nasty to a girl Izuku because if we keep her personality then you have society coming down on her for not being soft and shit. I have no idea where this was going.
7) EdLing AU where Ling was disowned for liking men and refusing a marriage with a woman from his clan, so he runs off to Amestris to find a philosopher's stone early and then meets the Elric brothers before canon.
8) BNHA/FMAB AU where Winry is reborn as Izuku, she is now a trans girl and is running around making automail.
9) EdLing share the pair AU. Imagine prince Ling screaming about his arm and leg, and people realizing his soulmate lost theirs.
10) the above but EdRoy. My notes said ‘flip a coin for pla’ which I think means flip a coin for platonic or not.
11) the above a gin for GreedEdLing with extra ‘oh fuck you’ energy because IT HURTS US WHEN YOU DIE GREED
12) Envy/Ed also soulmate au (i read a fanfic before getting high and it stuck I guess)
13) IiDeku AU lesbians where Bakugou is engaged to Izuku but she breaks it off as soon as she can to be with Iida.
14) three selkie au starts

Plot Ideas For A Fantasy Book
To figure out what the central plot of my fantasy book should be, I listed the central objectives of many fantasy and fantasy-adjacent pieces of media and tried to group them.
So here's a list of possible plots or "missions" for a fantasy story:) (plus examples)
Finding an artifact (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows, Talus Duology)
Finding an animal (Shadow and Bone, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them)
Unraveling a secret (Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Stranger Things S1-4)
Murder mystery / Unraveling the circumstances of someone’s death (The Grimoire of Grave Fates, Cemetery Boys, Stranger Things S4)
Finding out the cause of someone’s disappearance and finding them (All Our Hidden Gifts, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Stranger Things S1)
Curing a curse (King of Scars, Stranger Things S2)
Heist (Six of Crows)
Defeating a villain (Harry Potter Saga, Shadow and Bone Trilogy)
Overthrowing the regime (THG: Mockingjay)
Winning a game (The Hunger Games, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire)
Getting revenge and/or justice (Crooked Kingdom)
Saving a business/company/house/… (Lockwood & Co.)
Saving the motherfucking world (Umbrella Academy S1-3)

philosopher's stone is charming and all but genuinely why would dumbledore send hagrid to rescue baby harry potter from the last known place voldemort himself is known to have been? and why does no one have a reaction to the sirius namedrop? did jkr decide on the whole secret keeper plot line later or...? because canonically dumbledore, at least, must've realised that this meant someone sold james and lily out, right? and yet he says nothing when hagrid tells him he borrowed a bike off of sirius. how do you guys make sense of this

Can you elaborate on some of the deranged fan theories you mentioned you believe? ex. Ron is a latent Seer
thank you for the ask, @thesilverstarling - based on this post in which i mention some of the unhinged and deranged fan theories i believe.
these are:
ron is a latent seer
ron spends the earlier books of the series as a very specific children's literature archetype. he is the insider to the world of the story [whereas harry - the everyman protagonist who is also the reader's point-of-view - is not] and he fills in all the context that harry and the reader need to know in order for the plot to advance.
that's why early ron [regrettably, his conformity to genre-type gets nerfed in the later books in favour of hermione knowing everything - as per her archetype within the series' transition to a folkloric narrative, the helper - although he's undoubtedly the most street-smart of the trio even in deathly hallows] knows all sorts of baffling-but-useful information.
such as, in philosopher's stone:
"But it’s against our laws," said Ron. "Dragon breeding was outlawed by the Warlocks’ Convention of 1709, everyone knows that."
which amps up the stakes of the norbert plot line, starting up the narrative arc which ends with harry encountering quirrellmort in the forbidden forest.
but beyond his knowledge of facts and stats, ron also has a tendency - especially, again, in the early books - to advance the plot by mentioning as an incidental detail something which will then turn out to be absolutely crucial later in the narrative. his best example of this is this, from chamber of secrets:
"I wish I knew why someone did try to chuck it," said Harry. "I wouldn’t mind knowing how Riddle got an award for special services to Hogwarts either." "Could’ve been anything," said Ron. "Maybe he got thirty O.W.L.s or saved a teacher from the giant squid. Maybe he murdered Myrtle; that would’ve done everyone a favour..."
i have always liked the idea that ron knows these things because he has some latent talent in divination, sadly unnourished by the fact that he thinks it's a bullshit subject and doesn't try hard at it.
ron is time-travelling dumbledore
this one had fans in a chokehold in the pre-half-blood prince era, after it was posted on a now-defunct forum, which can be found thanks to the magic of the wayback machine here.
the justification is beautifully deranged - the bit about ron not appreciating all the socks he has, dumbledore's sincerest desire, sends me into orbit - and i think we should all endeavour to make this theory have a comeback in 2024.
crookshanks was the potter family cat mentioned by lily in her letter to sirius
in prisoner of azkaban, hermione tells us that her new pet has spent a long time in the magical menagerie:
"PoorCrookshanks, that witch said he’d been in there for ages; no one wanted him."
maybe he's been waiting for years. maybe he's been waiting for twelve years?
after all, we know that crookshanks:
hates scabbers, whom he recognises as noted wrong 'un peter pettigrew long before he meets sirius.
loves and adores sirius - who was presumably around him a lot when he lived with the potters, seeing as he was james' best friend - to the extent that he throws himself in front of harry's wand when he thinks he's going to hurt sirius. as sirius says, the marauders' code was that they would rather die than betray their friends. crookshanks heard it while he dozed on the sofa in a godric's hollow living room as the boys were chatting shit in the kitchen.
is often shown being affectionate to harry in his time of need.
after careful vetting, very much approves of ginny. perhaps when he sees harry and ginny together he remembers his old owners. perhaps harry isn't beating the oedipus complex allegations...
all of which is to say, crookshanks is the trio's fourth marauder. no wonder sirius had him booked and busy for a full year.
george weasley is willy wonka
is a stupid bit of whimsy, outlined here.
stan shunpike is a genuine death eater
this is a fan theory in so much as i'm a fan and i believe it, but i do think it's quite convincing...
throughout the series, harry has an extremely black-and-white, emotionally-driven view of the world. in particular, he tends to assume that anyone he likes is good and anyone he dislikes is bad, and that his read on people is automatically correct. he takes against most of the villains [draco malfoy, dolores umbridge] or quasi-villains [gilderoy lockhart] on sight, and his judgement in this decision is almost always correct.
almost always.
it backfires on him a couple of times in the series - for example, in his immediate trust in the tom riddle of chamber of secrets, who he thinks must be on his side because he's an orphan, looks a bit like him, and isn't pureblood - even before we come to the big twin revelations of deathly hallows: that snape, whom he's always loathed, and dumbledore, whom he's always trusted, are more complicated than his usual way of seeing the world can allow.
but, in general, harry gets away with forming snap judgements on the basis of personal like or dislike. indeed, outside of three examples above, his instinctive response to someone usually ends up being justified.
the reader is, then, clearly supposed to take the same view as harry when it comes to stan shunpike's doings in half-blood prince and deathly hallows: that stan isn't a real death eater; that his arrest is illegitimate; and that, if he's implicated in any wrongdoing, it's because he's under the imperius curse.
but, i'm afraid to say, harry is dead wrong. stan - who, like so many other wayward youths who find themselves in lord voldemort’s orbit, longs for power - is a fully paid-up and sincere member of that organisation. he gets off scot free at the end of the war when harry vouches for him and spends the rest of his life chuckling.
delphini's existence is entirely plausible
this is a reference to a theory from a really odd little piece of fan-fiction called harry potter and the cursed child, which has as a central plot line the baffling idea that lord voldemort knocked up bellatrix, didn't immediately murder her the second he found out he'd done so, and became the reluctant father to a daughter with an even worse name than albus severus.
i should say that i've never actually seen cursed child, but it sounds like a scream. complete dogshit, obviously, but in an entertaining way...
i should also say that i am a delphini truther. i think she makes perfect sense as an arc in bellamort's weird relationship.
very few people seem to agree - delphini features in my fic one year in every ten as literally nothing more than a cipher for her father's neuroses, and the eye-rolling in the comments whenever she's mentioned is still going to detach a few retinas - but that sign won't stop me because i can't read.
i don't, i should say, think that she's planned. i think somebody was daydreaming about horcruxes when he should have been paying attention in slughorn's sex-ed lessons, and she's an accident. i like the idea of lord voldemort fucking around and finding out that even he isn't resistant to human biology. i like the idea that bellatrix - who, canonically, tells him to his face to stop being a dick and realise that snape's a spy - simply ignores him when he demands she terminates the pregnancy. i like the idea that, since he knows deep down that bellatrix wants a part of him that's fully hers - since he a) won't ever commit to her in the way she wants, and b) won't ever tell her that she has a piece of his soul in her bank account - he begrudgingly relents. after all - and i'll die on this hill - he does love her, in his own very strange little way.
as well as being a great tool for a bit of bellamort insight, delphini is a great next-gen blank slate for all sorts of people's character development. the resurrected voldemort of one year in every ten is in shambles over how much she looks like him when he was young. the harry and ginny of everlasting ink are learning through her that bellatrix wasn't just a deranged sadist, but was also quite a lot like their beloved andromeda and tonks. the narcissa of ecclesiastes three is debating telling her estranged sister that she has a niece. the merope of the shack at the end of the lane is discussing baby names and reflecting on falling in love with unsuitable men with the closest thing she'll ever have to a daughter-in-law.
i also think delphini provides a much more interesting example of the cycle of the series repeating itself after the war ends than teddy. both tonks and lupin dying at the battle of hogwarts, leaving their son an orphan - like gasp! harry - always feels so tacked on to me. but both tom riddles ending up with children they didn't really want and have no idea how to relate to, whose mothers are both dead, and who grow up simmering with resentment over being abandoned? inject it.
and then, of course, the final and most serious deranged fan theory i believe
hagrid is a death eater.

Professor Kim’s Teaching assistant
Professor!Namjoon   x   fem!reader
Summary: You feel drawn to the new professor like to nobody else. Does he reciprocate that feeling? How far will you take it?
Themes/warnings: smut with a bit of plot at the beginning, age difference (reader is Master student, so ca 5 years), hand job, oral (m receiving), fingering, unprotected sex, y/n has mild dom tendencies, tied up hands, nipple play
Wordcount: ca. 3300 words
Disclaimer: 18+, DO NOT INTERACT IF YOU ARE UNDER 18
I do not own BTS. They merely inspire me. None of this is related to their persons in real life.
“I want to use the last 5 minutes to discuss the topic that will occupy next lesson. Greek mythology in Harry Potter.”
When this new course opened the previous semester, you’d been dying to get a space. Which you finally did the second time around. But now that you’re sitting in Professor Kim’s course, you are bored. Either you know too much about literature or your minds are too alike. You already know almost all the stuff he talks about, while everyone else is in awe at his creative angles.
You raise your hand. Professor Kim looks around. Since none of the other 15 students want to say anything, he gets back to you with a sigh.
“Go ahead, Ms y/l/n.”
It’s almost always a conversation between just the two of you. It has been like that the entire semester.
“For one, there are all the beasts and magical creatures that J.K. Rowling involved in her magical universe. Things like the chimera, centaurs, Cerberus. Aside from that we also have characters in the book named after actual mythological beings, not just Greek, but also Roman.”
“That is correct. Could you give an example? Greek or Roman.”
“Take Remus Lupin for example. Roman legends say that Romulus and Remus were twins that were tasked with building a city. The short version is that Romulus got to build it and named it after himself, of course. Mythology says that they were raised by a she-wolf. I consider this fact of importance, since Remus Lupin is a werewolf.”
“Accurate. Everyone, until next week, if you haven’t done so yet, please read Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s stone. Ms y/l/n, my office, please.”
You file out of the classroom with the other students and head to Professor Kim’s office. You have no idea why he’d want to talk to you. He’s never asked you to his office before.
Professor Kim appears a minute after you, his glasses askew and his hair a slight mess. Same as usual.
You smile just a tiny bit. You’d definitely straighten out those glasses. But you’d definitely leave the messy hair be.
“Please, Ms y/l/n, come in. Would you like something to drink? I have tea, coffee or water.”
You sit down at the corner of his desk as he makes himself a cup of coffee.
“I’m good, thank you. Why am I here?”
He waits until the coffee machine is done, then leans against the cupboard on which it stands. His pecks are on display like that, and you give yourself a second to admire them.
“I want to discuss your future. You are exceptional in the field I teach.”
“I just like reading a lot and finding out what could have been behind it.”
You shrug your shoulders.
“Have you considered doing a PhD and becoming a professor?”
“Maybe.”
“You don’t have to share with me, y/n, if you don’t want to. I merely wanted to offer you my assistance, in case you’d like it.”
Maybe it is because he’s trying so hard. Maybe because this is the first time he has called you by your first name.
“I did consider it for a while. But I had a professor last semester who said they’d do whatever it takes so I don’t get in anywhere as a PhD student.”
“What?”
Professor Kim moves so abruptly that he spills coffee all over his chest. Thanks to your long talk it’s only warm anymore, but he still curses. He puts the cup aside. It gives you a full frontal of his chest, including dark nipples that strain against the fabric.
You jump into action helping him clean up, because otherwise you might do something stupid. Something stupid like burying your face in his chest.
“Take it off.”
“It’s beyond saving. I never get coffee out.”
“Take it off. I’ll do it.”
He doesn’t even turn away to unbutton the shirt. When he tugs the rest of the shirt out of his pants to get the last 2 buttons, you have to cling to your composure very tightly. He hands you the shirt and you put it in the tiny sink in his office.
With the cold water and the immediacy of your reaction, the stain is out in next to no time.
“Et voila.”
You hold up the dripping shirt. No stain left on the light blue fabric. Your smile wavers when you see that Professor Kim is still standing there shirtless. His caramel skin looks like it is supposed to be savored slowly and explored extensively.
“Was it Lim?”
“Huh?”
“Did Professor Lim tell you those terrible things?”
“Oh, well…”
“Y/n!”
“Okay, yes, he did.”
Professor Kim sighs deeply. He straightens out his glasses and walks over to his desk.
“He hates women that are smarter than him. Especially if they are also beautiful. He’s an insecure pig. Time for some measures.”
“What? No!”
You are at the desk with 2 quick steps, your hand on Professor Kim’s upper arm. He looks up slowly from what he was writing, his eyes not focused on your hand but on your eyes.
“Y/n, if you want to go to university for a PhD, I will help you.”
“Okay, then help me. But please, let’s try to keep Professor Lim out of this for as long as possible. He won’t be able to do anything if he finds out last minute.”
Professor Kim straightens up and you finally let go of his arm. You’re a little sad, because it felt very nice. Strong and warm.
“How about you become my TA in the meantime, for your last semester here? That way we would have a valid excuse for spending some time together. Time we will mostly spend on prepping you for that PhD and the application process.”
“Thank you, sir.”
Professor Kim looks at his shirt in your arm and then his naked torso.
“I forgot I wasn’t wearing a shirt. Sorry about that.”
He grabs a jacket from a stand in the corner and buttons it up. This way, he is mostly covered up again. What a shame. You’d grown used to seeing him shirtless by now.
“And one more thing, y/n.”
“What?”
“Please call me Namjoon. Teaching assistants and their professors are almost always on first name terms.”
You hand him back the moist shirt.
“Got it. The shirt should be fine now. But please give it a wash in the washing machine as well.”
“Thank you for your help. I’ll remember that for next time.”
--------
As it turns out, Professor Kim – no, Namjoon – spills something quite regularly. No matter how elegant he looks, he can be quite clumsy. The following week you end up washing coke out of his shirt. The week after hot cocoa. You end up almost getting too comfortable with seeing him shirtless.
Being a TA is turning out to be quite fun and not all that much work, since Namjoon does not hold that many courses this semester.
The day comes when you get accepted into 3 different PhD programs at very prestigious universities. They are out of Professor Lim’s league, so he doesn’t dare mess with you. And finally, your graduation day arrives.
After a beautiful graduation ceremony, you have dinner with your mom and granny. Granny urges you to get married and mom wants you to finally start working full-time. They both talk way too much about your brother and sister and their little families.
Afterwards, you are in dire need of a drink. You end up in a poorly lit bar two houses down from the restaurant. Surprisingly, it smells like peppermint and lime in there. You sit down at the bar and order your favorite drink.
“Long day?”
Namjoon turns to you. You sat down on his right side without even noticing him there. You notice that the top 3 buttons of his shirt are open, and the sleeves pushed upwards. Your mind wants to go in some dirty directions, but you don’t let it.
Thankfully, the bartender puts down the drink in front of you right that moment.
“Kind of. Beautiful, but also laden. Like a landmine.”
“Sounds dangerous.”
“Sounds like family.”
Namjoon snorts into his drink.
“No matter how much I love my family, I understand what you mean. What did they say to you getting into the 3 best universities in the country?”
“Haven’t told them. They’d be livid that I haven’t gotten married or taken a full time, highly paid positions somewhere yet.”
“You’ll probably have to tell them sometime.”
“Yeah, sometime. I only see them once or twice a year and that’s soon enough for me.”
You let out a long, heavy sigh.
“You want to sit down in an alcove?”
“Sure.”
You move to an empty one with your drinks. The lighting is different here. Warmer, sexier. Namjoon’s dimples look like they want to pull you closer to him. You have a hard time resisting.
“Now that I’m no longer your professor, I’d still like to at least stay friends with you.”
“Of course. It’s thanks to you that I got to this point.”
“Not really. I only guided you a little. But thanks to you I now know how to clean almost all stains out of my shirts.”
You smile. That is true.
“I didn’t mind.”
You don’t because you find his clumsiness endearing. And also, because you got to see him shirtless on a weekly basis. Which was worth the effort.
Namjoon smiles. And something in that smile tells you that he knows.
You fidget a little. Since the nook is small and the bench short, your arm touches his in the process. You withdraw your arm and sit still again.
“I will miss having you around nearly every day. Of course, you were a great help, but mostly your presence is very stimulating to my mind.”
“Well, you wanted to be friends, so we will still get to see each other.”
“Of course. But that won’t be the same, will it?”
“I suppose not.”
Namjoon takes another sip of beer. When he leans back again, his cheeks are a faint strawberry color. You keep your eyes on him. He doesn’t look at you, though, but far into the distance.
“I am a very clumsy person. Which you know.”
“Yes.”
“I do spill drinks on myself quite regularly.”
“I know.”
“But maybe not quite so often. More like once or twice a month.”
“What are you saying?”
You’re still looking at him and he finally meets your eyes.
“I wanted to be close to you. The way you looked at my chest whenever I took of my shirt... I hoped you’d make a move on me someday.”
“Wait what?”
“Ridiculous, I know. You have marvelous self-restraint. And perhaps you only enjoy pecks in general, not specifically me as a person.”
His eyes are honest, with a hint of vulnerability. You hold his gaze for a few moments, then your eyes move down to his pecks. His shirt today is just the right amount of tight. But the fabric is midnight blue, so you cannot see through it.
You bite your bottom lip. You do like Namjoon as a person.
“I do like pecks. But yours are particularly… delectable.”
You slowly look up at him again. His dimples are showing. You move your hand up and gently poke one of his dimples with your finger. When you withdraw your hand again, Namjoon catches it and blows a kiss on your fingertip.
Butterflies flutter through your stomach. You move a little closer and put your hand on his thigh. He does not object. When you stroke up and down his thigh, his breathing becomes a little labored.
Encouraged by your bold movements, Namjoon leans forward and touches his lips to yours. You deepen the kiss. He tastes like peppermint and beer.
You break apart after what could have been seconds or hours.
“Would you like to disappear from here? My apartment is just down the road. If you aren’t ready, though, we can postpone that.”
You take him by the hand and pull him out of the alcove. Thank goodness the drinks are already paid for.
The warm summer air outside caresses your legs and arms. Namjoon takes your hand and guides you to his place. On the way you talk about books, as usual.
Only once the door to his apartment closes behind him do things change again. You’ve barely taken off your shoes when Namjoon grabs your waist and pulls you against him. This kiss is much less restrained and civil than the one in the bar.
You melt into him, your hands on his firm pecks. You run your hands over them, making sure to also caress his nipples gently. Every time you give them a twist, his breath catches. Finally, you can’t take it anymore and unbutton his shirt. He does not stop you.
Once you have peeled the shirt off him, you let your hands roam over his entire upper body. He gives you time to explore while keeping his hands at your waist.
When you break apart for a breather, Namjoon smiles.
“This kind of curiosity will bring you far anywhere, y/n.”
You giggle. Even in a situation like this, he can’t help but think of work and books.
“I hope it can also bring me as far as your bedroom.”
“If that is where you want to be, definitely.”
He walks to the bedroom door and pushes it open. You walk inside past him and turn on the light. There are beautiful paintings on the wall. The bed isn’t made, but overall, the room is very clean and organized.
You turn back to Namjoon.
“I love the interior design. I want a painting tour later on.”
“Whatever you wish, y/n.”
You put your hands on his belt buckle and open it.
“IF there is anything you don’t like, tell me to stop. Ditto for if it’s too much.”
“Who is the teacher here?”
You smirk up at him.
“Tonight, I think it’s me. But I’m always willing to switch roles.”
You pull the belt out of his pants.
“Lie down.”
He does.
“Put up your hands.”
He follows your instructions again. You tie his hands to the head of the bed with his belt.
“I’ll untie you whenever you want. Just say the word.”
“Got it. But I’m feeling pretty comfortable right now.”
You unzip your dress and drop it on the floor before crawling on the bed. Namjoon lies stretched out, the muscles in his arms and torso prominent. You sit down on his lower belly and give him a kiss.
“This could take a while.”
And it does. You start with feathery kisses on his dimples and then move down his neck. You are very tempted to leave marks there, but that wouldn’t be good for a professor who has to teach his students tomorrow.
So instead, you suck a mark into his bulging upper arm. You gently scratch your teeth over the inside of his forearm. That has goosebumps running over his arms. You bite down on the inside of his palm.
By then you’ve teased enough and move down to his chest. His gorgeous chest. Finally, you get to touch and savor. You place sloppy kisses all over his pecks. Namjoon watches you with hooded eyes. When you run your lips over his nipples, his eyes cross. You do it again and add a little tongue. He huffs out a breath.
You keep up the ministrations for another minute or two until you move down his stomach. You leave tiny bites there, which has his stomach muscles contracting like crazy.
You unzip his slacks.
“Hips up.”
He does and you pull the slacks and underwear down. As you already felt earlier, he is fully erected. You run your hand up the shaft and pay special attention to the frenulum. Namjoon takes a shuddering breath. Your thumb draws a circle around his slit.
“Baby, stop torturing me.”
“Are you in pain?”
“No.”
“Do you want me to stop?”
Namjoon sighs.
“Goodness, no.”
“Then stop complaining or I’ll gag you next.”
You smile up at him.
Then you lower your head and repeat the circular motion around his slit with your tongue. His moan is a true turn on. You ditch your panties, slip your hand between your legs and start playing with your clit, while you keep working him with your tongue and mouth.
It doesn’t take long until you have him at the brink of desperation. And ecstasy.
You raise your head and let go of him. His eyes linger on your other hand, which is between your legs.
“May I do that too, tonight?”
“Definitely. But later.”
You crawl back up to the headboard and untie him. He lowers his arms and presses you against his body. The close body contact feels heavenly.
Namjoon undoes your bra. You sit up and throw it aside. Then you lay down on him again, rubbing your nipples against his chest. It feels like heaven. Until you’re so sensitive you have to stop.
You kiss the tip of his nose.
“Your turn now, professor. I want to feel you in me.”
He rolls you around until you are lying on your back and he is hovering over you. With one hand he grabs your hands and pins them against the pillows above you. You find that very, very hot.
You arch your body towards him.
“Please.”
“How could I say no to that.”
You feel his tip push against your entrance. It’s a nice stretch once he finally pushes into you, slowly, so you can adjust. Except that you are so turned on that you don’t really need time to adjust.
Namjoon is breathing heavily by the time he bottoms out.
“Give me just a second like this, okay? I don’t want to cum right away.”
He smiles down at you and the dimples appear in all their glory. You pucker your lips. He gets the message and leans down for a kiss. A very deep, slightly messy kiss.
Once you break apart and he finally starts moving, your eyes meet. His are dark, almost black, with lust.
His moves are slow and steady at first. He lets go of one of your hands, so you can play with your nipple. It doesn’t take long until his moves become sloppier, harsher. With a few more twists or your nipple your high burns its way through you.
Namjoon’s breathing gets shallower while you moan into his ear. He lets go of your other hand and you sling both around his torso.
“I can’t… much longer…”
“It’s okay. We have all night for more.”
A few more sloppy thrusts, then Namjoon cums. He buries his face in your shoulder, and you hold him once his body ceases to move.
It takes a bit for both your breathing to normalize and for heartbeats to slow down again. Until that happens, you stroke Namjoon’s hair.
You don’t know how long you lay there like that, but you enjoy it.
Eventually, Namjoon raises his head and looks down at you. His eyes have cleared up to their normal dark brown. You see something in them that looks surprisingly like love. You’re even more surprised that you don’t mind that at all. Maybe it is time to trust another person and give them your love.
“Would you like to go and take a hot shower with me, y/n.”
“Gladly.”
He pulls out of you and helps you up.
“About that paintings tour of your apartment?”
“Yes?”
“Let’s postpone that until tomorrow. I think we’re busy for the rest of the night.”
Namjoon guides you into the bathroom, where he turns on the shower. There is easily enough space for two people in there.
“As you prefer, honey.”
When you look at him his eyes are crinkled in a smile.

Interesting Crossover - Kaito KID X Harry Potter
I don't know if anyone already come out with this idea yet but I just want to share, lol.
Kaitou Kid's goal was to find immortal gems before bad people, it made me think he would come across philosopher stone somehow and it might lead him to discover the wizarding world. (Just ignore the timeline and year for convenience for the plot) He is smart, a magician prodigy, and of course, would not let muggle disadvantage stop him. No one can stop him before and never will be.
KID is a muggle magician thief and of course, the wizarding world is often clueless when it comes to muggle things and thinks muggle 'magic' is ridiculous. Pulling a rabbit out of a hat and card trick is kind of like that. But KID's magic is another level and they didn't prepare for anything like that. He didn't get called an international thief for nothing. Many magic tricks no need to use electricity. Imagine he just appears out of nowhere inside Hogwort. I would gladly see him messing around with wizards and Dumbledore would get headaches for unexpected factors. The ministry might send Aurors to find this thief and the prophet might spread the news of this magician muggle. Some might have a theory KID might not be a muggle after all.
Just like he usually does, a student by day and a phantom thief by night separated alter ego. Pulling many ideas to mimic magic to go through magic classes. Maybe his gramp assistant Konosuke Jii help him with 'behind the scene'. I imagine him getting into Hagwort as a squib, being Filch's assistant, and befriending him. (Jii is the ultimate wingman for the Kuroba family!)
Oh, for Voldy, after he dug into KID's profile from Muggle sources, he found the thief has been around for a long time and is probably must old now but he still looks the same. At first, he doesn't pay attention to this muggle thief at all as he thinks KID is just a pathetic thief and a muggle (yeah, his normal arrogant self of Voldy) But after noticing this fact and suspects the thief wants to find the stone as well, he ordered death eaters search for KID and bring what that found to him.
Kaitou KID has to mess around the magical world, confusing wizards and witches, and Voldemort has no idea what he messing about. A muggle magician in the world of magical people, how fun it could be.
He just needs to be his usual gremlin self though haha
P.S. Which house do you think he would be in? I think he would be Slytherin.

If you had to rank the core 7 canon books how would you order them?
Goblet of Fire my beloved <3 (tournament arc my beloved. yule ball my beloved dragons and mermaids and riddles my beloved viktor krum fleur delacour cedric diggory my beloveds QUIDDITCH WORLD CUP my beloved. real costs of war my beloved. the start of the actual story of harry potter and that's a hill I will dig my grave in.)
Prisoner of Azkaban (murder mystery + marauders lore + last real self-contained adventure novel in the series, also introduces the patronus mechanic, sirius black, remus lupin, etc. fun fact when i was growing up POA was the one book in the series I didn't own so I've read it the fewest times of any book and it STILL clears.)
Order of the Phoenix (what if your friend group were all members of a secret underground martial arts association with the goal of Sticking It To The Man? would that not be the coolest? and legions of us answered powerfully: Yea, it would be The Fucking Coolest. has the most convoluted plot of any of the books and it drags like hell at some points but it's also a really cool dive into character psychology and it's the first time it actually feels like our heroes can lose.)
Half-Blood Prince (by far the darkest book in the story, includes the much-awaited Tom Riddle backstory and finally sets up the lynchpin of the climax via the horcrux mechanic; Draco finally gets something approximating an arc, or like, basic three-dimensionality; the Slug Club is a delicious POV into what Slytherin could be/can be/actually is, culturally speaking; but I'm not a huge fan of Harry's plot with Dumbledore, and it means most of the D.A. from Book 5 are left with not a whole lot to do besides sit around and talk to Harry like videogame NPCs— including, most egregiously, Ron and Hermione, neither of whom seem all that enthused about the author's decision that they ought to kiss.)
Deathly Hallows: I just wouldn't make most of the decisions this book makes with respect to about how to end the series, and I've had a long time to come to peace with that. It's a fun, well-written Quest story, but it's not about the things I'd like it to be about.
Philosopher's Stone: this is a children's book. That's not the book's fault, it's perfectly clear about what it is, but I'm not going to enjoy it as much as books written with older readers in mind. It's also pretty woozy about the magic system, which bugs me, especially when the book breaks established rules from later in the series.
Chamber of Secrets: I don't not enjoy Chamber of Secrets, but in addition to being a children's book, the tone problem kind of drives me up the wall. It's a horror premise (serial killer on the loose in a Gothic castle, girl being possessed by a demon, self-abusing slave chasing Harry around trying to break his bones) and it's written like children's fantasy (i.e. the tone's very flippant and arch and British humor about everything). If the plot of this book and Half-Blood Prince switched places, both would rank much higher.

KHR is genuinely stressful. I get so upset with the Vongola always winning, Reborn being a bastard without facing consequences, and the Vongola ruining lives without ever being called out. Tsuna's fake friends just use him, ignore him, and never listen.
No one acknowledge the sheer manipulation going on, or that begin a Mafia Don is not good
The political plot with Xanxus, the Arcobaleno, Tsuna's plot as a puppet king...
It had wonderful potential, pity had a bad execution. It could be more popular and the fandom vaster
I am giving it up for my own mental health, I am out of this Fandom
I admit I think the same sometimes
This fandom is stressful and I love KHR
I try to go to others fandom and don't think too much about KHR all the time
Fics here can be upsetting because often Vongola got portraid as the hero or the author had the same problem with fighting Reborn
Or they have charactets like Ichigo or Emiya Shirou begin Vongola and Reborn's pawns
And everyone is just a pawn to Vongola all the time, nobody fights Vongola, they just under its power
Which never happens in Konoha, its often like a 1000000 fics hating Konoha and burning it to the ground and I am yet to write my FMA crossover fic of Wrath!Tsuna planning on using Vongola to make a Philosopher Stone along with his guardians siblings
The smalleness of the Fandom is part of it? Maybe, if we were more famous, we would have a hundred videos on YouTube of analyses of Tsuna's character as the puppet king and sacrifice
Because KHR is so much like Harry Potter bashing fics in terms of manipulation and plot you dont even know
Maybe try to make a blog and fics to get the plot and ideas you want?
Its what I did
Still thinking to drop KHR time to time when I get too stressed with it (because nobody fights Reborn and Vongola), its upsetting, its angering, I want just want them to get the treatment of Konoha
All the other fandoms have the MC OP fighting them all brutally, why not KHR???
I need a break from Vongola's bullshit as much as Tsuna
So yeah
I get it

It's truly vile in the comment section for that HP & consumerism video that they are claiming JKR lied about her struggles with poverty. Desperately stupid, too, that they think napkins are too fragile to be written on.
I didn't even open the link but i trust your word on it. I've seen that sort of things often enough – claims that she was never in poverty, it's all a marketing ploy, etc. Pure idiocy of course. Although the napkin thing is a myth, it was not one made up by Jo - it's in fact one of the many she has debunked (and made fun of) over the years, as soon as 1999. You can see it in the video below at 4:40.
youtube
People have always been eager to misrepresent, deform or even make up things JKR supposedly said, but she's always been consistent if you take the time to actually listen to her.
She had the idea for Harry Potter in 1990 on a train going from Manchester to London
Her mother died on December 30th 1990 from multiple sclerosis
She moved to Porto in 1991, where she taught English. There she met and married Jorge Arrantes, and started writing the first draft of Philosopher's Stone.
She recently explained in the Witch Trials of JK Rowling podcast that she smuggled page after page of the manuscrit she had written then to her workplace, to photocopy them over weeks, because she was afraid her husband (who was abusive) would destroy it if he sensed she was about to leave him. But that wasn't a complete work, she rewrote it many times and prepared the plot of the rest of the series.
She left Portugal in November 1993 with her two months old daughter Jessica and moved to Edinburgh where her sister Diane lived (both sisters were distant with their father, which is why Jo didn't move back to England).
She completed PS while unemployed and on welfare and started seeking an agent around 1995-1996 (which we know because it took said agent a year to find a publisher, and PS was first published in 1997).
In the above video you can see her showing bits of the very early world building she was writing behind some of the documents she used for her classes in Portugal (5:15).
All this information is easily available online, so i have to conclude that anyone perpetuating the idea that she is a manipulative liar who made up being poor for sympathy points and other such nonsense is either a) too stupid to make a simple internet search or b) purposeful in their defamation, either out of jealousy, political motivation, misogyny or god knows what else these people need to feel alive.
