Harrowhark Nonagesimus Concept

(Speedpaint and a few book one thoughts under the cut <3)

PLEASE, NO SPOILERS!! (exceptions for book 1 ofc) I just finished the first book in the Locked Tomb series and oh my god it's incredible?!

Wanted to draw a couple of the characters out as I'm reading the series before I start looking at fanart and stuff eventually.

This is just a quick concept sketch to get the general structure and proportions I imagined down so that I can remember wtf my perspective on them was later haha

I always have an image of ppl in my head (even if it doesn't match character descriptions sometimes lmao) and I never get around to doing it b4 I dive into the fandom, so I wanted to try this time. Harrow was first bc

A) She's a fucking brat and I love her B) Like, nearly the whole book is from Gideon's perspective and - that girl sure does like staring at Harrow and describing her XD

I obviously want to draw Gideon next, but I feel like I don't have as clear of a picture of her bc she was the perspective character.

Honestly, can't you just hear her saying "Honestly, Griddle!" XD Tbh Moira Quirk's reading of the audiobook was fucking superb and I like- bro holy fucking shit. That woman can fucking voice act.

Also no matter how many times they mention Camilla's hair, I'm sorry but I can't imagine her with anything but light/mid-brown gauzy waves XD I don't know why! But she just doesn't feel like a blunt haircut girly to me. I'll have to draw her with both hairstyles. Maybe if I give her rounder bangs I could vibe with it? I could probably vibe with that...

Whatever, lmao I'm just glad I got Harrowhark's face down (just started book two and I'm anxious lmao, wish me luck - if her eyes are golden (ik they must be) imma feel ill bro. You guys - if they're gold - oshoseihfoi I'm too gay for this shit don't look at me.

Also like, can we just talk about how the connection between Gideon and Harrow was written - my god. Fucking gorgeous. The whole book, but that... damn. It was so perfect. As a reader you want there to be more. You want more ground to be given up, I wanted them to cuddle in that damn bed!!!! But they couldn't, not with where they were at, and I have nothing but the upmost respect for a book that makes me want something, and is justified - is right - in not giving it to me.
