Favourite Character Bingo - 2023

Characters I first encountered in 2023 (not necessarily part of media released in that year).

These are intended to be ordered loosely according to genre, moving from classic to contemporary horror, sci-fi horror, thriller horror, on to drama, comedy, then comic/cartoon and fantasy. Naturally, plenty of these don't quite stay in their own prescribed mould and could be considered fitting for another genre, but this is MY PARTY and I make the rules >:(

The hardest thing I've ever done may just be forcing myself to choose only one Baldur's Gate 3 character. If this was ordered by fondness for the characters, Astarion would be up top, but it's not and I'm petty so he's last and least.

As may surprise no-one, the prevailing trends are trickster archetypes, gothic looks, autism coding, and sympathetic or misunderstood status and/or rebellion. Also Billy Crystal is there.

I've been wanting to ask about this for a while now and the recent art by harpyy reminded me about it and it was just, did Gordon's blood/tear color change aswell? I know Benrey has a inhuman tear color (not sure about blood tho) and I was wondering if it was the same with Gord :o

Yeah they do! Buuuut it’s not noticeable for Gordon at least in the partially shifted mode, fully shifted would be where that would show up. I do like the idea of green blood like harppy did, hadn’t thought about his blood color before lol. Also Benny def has like dark blue blood cause that’s kinda cool to me

Though would be interesting to play around with color meanings for the tears at least... Like the reason Benrey’s tears were red when he was trying to hide them from Tommy in chapter 4 was because he was frustrated with himself. Sooo... I could see the tears being vaguely sweet voice related? Buuut they already have sweet voice and the freckles giving that stuff away lol.

okei kuunnelkaas nyt, hyvät abit ja muut onnettomat, jotka yo-kokeiden parissa taas kamppailee. tässä on teille neuvoja siitä, miten säilyttää järki kaiken sen kahakan keskellä

1. päätä ajoissa mikä on sun tavoite. arvioi kuinka realistinen se on ja päätä uudelleen sun tavoite, mikäli se alkuperäisessä muodossaan tuntuu epärealistiselta. meidän opo sanoi että jos on saanut aineesta kymppejä voi olla realistista jo tavoitella eximiaa ja laudatur on vain kirsikka kakun päällä, se on haave joka on tosi hieno jos toteutuu, mutta se ei ole kaikki kaikessa. gaussin käyrä vaikuttaa toki arvosanoihin, kannattaa taktikoida mikäli pystyy. äläkä perkele lähde vertailemaan omia arvosanojasi kaverin tai sitten tädin tyttären tyttöystävän arvosanojen kanssa. yo-kokeet on sun oma henkilökohtainen suoritus eikä sun vanhempien, ei sun kumppanin, lapsen tai papukaijan vaan sun oma tulos.

2. aloita lukeminen ajoissa. tiiän, iha helvetin tyhmä ohje, mutta se kun pitää niin paikkaansa. jos sä tähän mennessä oot mennyt kaikki kokeet läpi sillä, että luet edellisenä iltana vähäsen (tai yön läpi, tai aamulla, en tuomitse teitäkään) niin mun täytyy sanoa, että paremmat prosentit sulla ois takana jos aloittaisit lukemisen vähän aikasemmin (tällä tarkoitan pari kuukautta aikaisemmin).

arvioi sun omaa lukukykyäsi mutta älä ahnehdi lukemista liikaakaan yhdelle päivälle, itse luin noin 25 sivua päivässä yhtä oppiainetta (jotkut tosin tykkäävät lukea kokonaisia lukuja). mua auttoivat muistiinpanojen ja lisätehtävien tekeminen (jotkut opettajat mieluusti tyrkyttävät oppimateriaaleja, tehtäviä, monisteita sun muita jos vain jaksaa pyytää. tässä vaiheessa on hyvä myös porata niiden materiaalien perään, jotka heitit ykkösvuonna ylpeyttäsi menemään. itku on ok. ihmisiähän tässä vaan ollaan). dokumentit, youtube-videot, kielten kokeita varten on aina kiva katsoa tuttuja leffoja kohdekielen dubilla tai teksteillä (tai molemmilla jos oot extra kunnianhimoinen) aiheeseen liittyvä kirjallisuus on aina plussaa (huom. vain jos kiinnostaa. älä veren maku suussa hyvä ihminen itteäs kiduta).

3. mene kertauskurssille ja preliin. aika itsestään selvää.

4. tässä vaiheessa se kuuluisa itsetuntemus ois tärkeetä. huolimatta siitä että sulla on lukusuunnitelma, sulla on hyvä olla myös leposuunnitelma. yritä hoitaa lukeminen aikasin päivällä pois alta niin illalla pääset viettämään aikaa muiden kanssa, harrastusten pariin tai muuten vaa tuhlaamaa aikaa netissä. se on usein paljon palkitsevampaa kuin se että hoitaa eka hauskuuden ja siinä sitten stressailee samalla, ku pitäis olla lukemassa eikä viitsis enää.

5. itsetuntemus on uudestaan vierailevana tähtenä. kuuntele miltä susta tuntuu. pahalta varmaan, mutta niin suurimmalta osalta abeista. kuuntele siksi niitä tunteita jotka sanoo että nyt joku on tosi tosi tosi pahasti vialla esim. masennuksen, ahdistuksen ja stressin oireet, jotka pahenevat koko ajan etkä saa niitä millään lievitettyä. tässä vaiheessa mä suosittelisin ottamaan yhteyttä kuraattoriin, opoon, ryhmänohjaajaan tai keneen tahansa kenelle susta tuntuis että voisit jutella ja joka kuuntelis painostamatta sua. mä voin tähän kohtaan henkilökohtaisesti vaan ehdottaa että tässä vaiheessa lepo menee työn edelle. pidä itsestäs huolta, jotta voit pärjätä hyvin kokeissa. vielä tärkeempää kuitenkin, pidä itsestäs huolta koska sun hyvinvointi on tärkeämpää kuin kokeet.

6. aika sanoa heihei vihaajille. abivuosi on helvetin hektistä aikaa, jolloin kaikki aika tuntuu olevan kortilla. joskus jotkut sukulaiset, ystävät, kumppanit tai muut mainiot ihmisolennot yrittävät tunkea likaiset näppinsä sun opiskelu- ja leposuunnitelmaan, jolloin sun on aika ottaa se sun suunnitelmas ja pitää siitä kynsin ja hampain kiinni, mikäli olet todennut sen toimivaksi. älä anna ihmisten painostaa sua viettämään enemmän aikaa lepäämällä tai opiskelemalla. tässä on edelleen kyseessä sun kokeet, joten sähän perkele oot oikeutettu opiskelemaan ja lepäämään niin paljon kuin oma omatuntosi ja kuntosi kestää.

7. usein sanotaan että älä yo-kokeessa tee sellaista, mitä et lukiessas tehnyt aka älä ota kahvia mukaan kokeeseen, jos et jo aikaisemmin juonut kahvia. älä ota kokeeseen mukaan uusia super extra chili habanero pähkinöitä tai uutta paitaa, koska huonolla tuurilla sun vatsa menee sekaisin ja siinä paidassa on kutittava sauma ja sä rukoilet kuolemaa koko 6 tuntia (btw, jos tavoittelet niitä korkeimpia arvosanoja ni älä helvetissä lähe sieltä heti kun kello lyö 12). 

8. yo-kokeisiin valmistautuessa muista käydä ulkona, muista nukkua. molempia mielellään enemmän kuin tunti vuorokaudessa.

9. mikäli sä tarvitset erillistilan tai sulla on allergioita tai muita niin ota yhteyttä heti siihen henkilöön, joka tällaisia asioita järjestelee (usein rehtori) ja selitä asia. useimmiten ne ymmärtää kun sä sanot, että jos joku tuo sinne koetilaan sitruunan niin sun naama turpoaa mehiläispesäksi ja sun kieli alkaa sulaa sun suuhun veriseksi lihalätkäksi. jos ei ymmärrä ni ota yhteyttä muhun ja mä voin kiroilla sun kanssa yhdessä.

10. valmistaudu kaikkeen yo-kokeessa. kaikella mä tarkoitan kaikkea. useimmilla tää tarkoittaa ainakin kolmea kynää, kahta kumia, kahta teroitinta, särkylääkkeitä (+ muut lääkkeet mikäli tarpeellisia, tarkoitan reseptilääkkeitä enkä huumeita), sekä fiksuja että kivoja eväitä (tällä tarkoitan ruisleipää karkkien lisäksi, on parempi että on mukana kaikki tarvittava ku kuolata naapurin eväiden perään). mä henkilökohtaisesti otin mukaan vielä stressikuution (varmistettuani ensin että se on ok, kannattaa hoitaa asia samalla lailla), villasukat, pipon, hanskat (kerrospukeutuminen on avain, etenkin jos teidän koetila on kylmä sali tai muu vastaava), peiton ja tyynyn ja revolverin, älä ota sitä, se on ase ja vaikka sillä voisi hoidella sen toisen kilpakumppanin joka myös tavoittelee sitä laudaturia, aseet on kielletty. harppi sen sijaan...

:))) I'm very harppy with this chapter, I got no clue deku talks about when he talk quirk stuff, goes right over my head, but hehe overhaulllll, AND HAWKS, HE WINGED AHHHHH!!!! Lady N annoyed me (her logic is dumb and I hated it, but deparation depression yeah okayyy I guesss) BUT AH Deku is such a light huh, he and hawks 🤝 being the hope ppl need, Lady N's reaction 🥺

Well anon there's a lot to unpack.

- I'm in full agreement with you about being excited that Hawks' wings have officially made their little return.

- I personally find Lady Nagant to be a very interesting character, I'm not really sure where you're getting the "desperation depression" from her though. I wouldn't put frustration and exhaustion for a society and lashing out against it with depression.

I do understand the frustration behind her logic to a certain degree. It was confusing how in chapter 314 she only took what Midoriya said as "phony education." But now she's suddenly turned around to the point where AFO himself literally exploded her as he felt she was going to change sides.

She's also been a follower her entire life though. Which is probably why it was so easy for AFO to manipulate her into joining him as a tool.

It wasn't satisfying if I'm being honest because it felt very rushed - and that's the number one thing I'm worried about for this arc.

- Midoriya and Hawks working together to try to save others will always be a treat. To bad AFO has to ruin it 😒.
