Chisaki Kai examines Toga Himiko’s prone, sleeping form in the rearview mirror. Her hair is undone, falling over her face and the folded towel she’s using in lieu of a pillow in messy, choppy strands, the color only somewhat visible in the darkness of the backseat. Her normal clothing is in a basket in the trunk of the ‘limo’ (not really a limousine, just a van that Hari rearranged the insides of), and instead she wears a black t-shirt two sizes too big for her and gray sweatpants that pool around her folded legs and bare feet, spare clothes that Kai keeps for himself and his men in the back of the trunk when their usual ones get too dirty for the inside of the car. Kai will have to wash out the numerous bloodstains out of her uniform later tonight. The small glimpses of her face that he can catch when the streetlights shine in at just the right angle are peaceful.

He brings his eyes back to the road. It’s nighttime now. Dark and quiet, his favorite time of the day, when the only lights are the streetlights and the only sounds the hum of the car. He wonders if anybody’s found the carnage he and Toga left at that rival gang’s base. He wonders if the ensuing investigation will turn up evidence that there’s not as much blood as there should be. That some of it was vomited up behind the house in the bushes.

Probably not, to any of those questions. He’d chosen that base specifically because it was out of the way, and those people specifically because they wouldn’t be missed.

He pulls into the base’s garage quietly and slowly. Hari’s waiting for them inside, in a hoodie and t-shirt that Kai is eighty percent sure came from his own closet, and ducks his head into the driver’s window as Kai rolls it down.

“How’s the kid?” he asks.

“Asleep right now. She overate during the raid, had to throw up. I imagine this is the first time she’s gotten to eat enough in a long, long time.”

“I can see it,” Hari murmurs, and then opens the door and picks up Toga’s sleeping form. “We’ve got a spare room prepared with blankets, so no one should bother her. Except for Twice. He’s been asking where she is for the past hour.”

Toga shifts in his arms, but doesn’t wake.

“Twice will be difficult to deal with,” Kai agrees. “I’ll go ahead and deal with him while you carry her to her room?”

“Sounds good to me.”

Once they reenter the base, the peaceful moment will end, and Kai will find himself subjected to all the inconsistencies and irrationalities and injustices of the world once again, and so will Toga once she wakes up. Once they reenter the base, Kai will return to being Overhaul, yet again trying to bury the wounded child that screamed so strongly as it heard the tales of Toga’s hunger and pain. Once they reenter the base, Toga may well return to hating him again for the death of her “big sister” Magne.

“Let’s go, then,” Kai murmurs. “We shouldn’t keep the other Expendables waiting too long.”

hiii!!! i love how you write kurono so can you consider writing a fluff of (preferably highschool) kurono being confessed to for the first time n the reader is complimenting his hair n saying they find his quirk cool n all but kurono isnt used to receiving these types of compliments so he just stood there awkwardly with a grimace like smile, looking all red n sweaty? ^^

Things Don't Go As Planned

Content Warnings: Just wholesome fluff and teenage awkwardness. Also Kai shows up in the fic lmao

A/N: I added so much plot to this fic lmao This could’ve just been a little drabble and honestly I don’t know where this came from but here you go <3 I hope you enjoy it!

The timing had to be perfect, you kept telling yourself this. Your nerves were on edge because you just wanted things to work like you wanted. You weren’t necessarily scared of rejection, it’s always a possibility, but you weren’t worried when it came to Hari. You two were on the same wavelength. You didn’t hang out with each other as much as you wanted, being in different classes and all, but that didn’t stop you two from getting up to fun hijinks when you could be around each other. 

You’ve had feelings for Hari for quite some time now, keeping it to yourself for the most part until you found the right time to bring it up. You didn’t want to make things awkward but deep down you just knew Hari felt the same way towards you. You’ve decided that you’ve waited long enough, the anticipation was killing you. You’ll just do it today!

You waited until the bell rang, signaling the end of class, quickly gathering all of your things. You had grabbed your phone and texted Hari, asking him to meet you right down the street where you usually hung out. A simple thumbs up emoji was what you had gotten in response. You smiled subconsciously at your phone, as you put it away. You gracefully weaved through students and practically hopped your way down the stairs as you made your way towards the front of the school. 

You made your way outside, trying to get past the rest of the study body trying to leave for the day. You made your way down the street easy enough once you got through the main doors. Kai had a point when he offered the spot, hating the crowds himself. It ended up becoming somewhere for all three of you to hang out when you guys got out of school. You knew Kai had something that would end up keeping him at school for a bit, so you hoped you had enough time before his arrival became inevitable. You had a plan after all, and he wasn’t about to ruin it.

Well you did have a flawless plan. Until you came around the corner of the street, seeing Kai at the vending machine you were planning on stopping at. You paused for a moment before you slowly approached him, watching as his head turned towards your footsteps. 

“Oh,” He said, noting your presence before reaching down to grab the drink he selected from the machine. “I figured you’d take the other street. It’s much quicker.” 

You looked at the drink in his hands, mentally cursing as he had picked out Hari’s favorite drink. Taking all your willpower not to cause a scene, which Kai wasn’t noticing anyways as he went to select another drink from the machine. “I thought you had something to do after school.” You said, making sure not to sound hostile. “I’m surprised you got out faster than me.”

“I did.” He said simply, sounding bored. “It’s a waste of time, so I choose not to do it.”

“Right…” You said, unsure of how to respond to that. You heard quickly approaching footsteps from behind you, causing you to whip your head around. “Hari!”

“Hey!” Hari shouted as he ran towards both of you. He staggered slightly trying to get himself to stop right near Kai. Hari placed his hand on Kai’s shoulder roughly to regain his balance, forcing Kai to give a scowl before swatting his hand off of his shoulder. “I see you got out of it too, Kai.”

“Wait, you had the disciplinary hearing too?” You asked, suddenly confused. “I thought it was just Kai?” 

“Kurono wouldn’t have needed to attend, if he just listened.” Kai stated, as he reached down to grab his drink out of the machine. He tossed the other drink he first selected towards Hari. “Here.”

“Thanks.” Hari said, grinning as he successfully caught it. “It wouldn’t be the first time that it happened and it won’t be the last. Besides, the teachers are already upset at me because of the last paper I turned in.” 

“The creative writing project?” You asked, your eyebrow raising. Hari was really excited to complete that one. “Did you not get a good grade on it?”

“Technically I followed the rules, they just assumed I wasn’t taking the prompt seriously.” Hari informed, opening his drink as the group started walking to the original destination.

“Probably because you weren’t.” Kai retorted. 

“I did.” Hari defended, pouting slightly. “Not my fault they can’t get the humor in it.”

Before you could get the chance to ask what Hari had written, you all arrived at the location. It wasn’t far. You watched Hari climb up the nearby tree, throwing his legs over the edge on the tree limb taking a seat. The moment passed, but you will definitely be bringing it up later. You walked over and sat on the bench nearby, awkwardly placing your hands in your lap. Your plan wasn’t working. 

You sheepishly glanced over towards Kai, not sure how you were supposed to proceed with any ideas you had to tell Hari how you feel. You spotted him on his phone, silently willing for some reason to take him away from here, even if it was temporarily. It took a few minutes before it felt like your prayer was answered. Kai’s phone suddenly rang and he only took one glance at it before quickly excusing himself. An opportunity?

Hari watched him walk away, glancing down towards you. “Someone’s in trouble~” He said in a sing-songy tone. 

Kai came back over right after that comment, glaring at Hari, causing you to suppress a laugh, having to cover it up with a fake cough that quickly turned into a real one. He gave you a quick glance before announcing his departure. You silently thanked whoever answered your unspoken prayers as you looked up towards Hari, finally alone together. Your eyes scanned over Hari’s face, taking in his features, as he watched Kai leave in the distance.

“Then there were two.” He said, downing the last of his drink before moving to hop down off the tree limb. “Probably not long before I’m dragged back too.” 

He reached into his pocket for his phone, swiping it open before checking something. You were scared that your opportunity was going to get taken away before you had a chance to do anything so you abruptly stood up. The motion caused Hari to look over towards you, his eyebrow raising in confusion since you looked so conflicted. “You okay?”

“Yeah! I uh mean yeah…” You cleared your throat, moving yourself towards him as he had gotten a new notification. Your heart was racing, feeling like you were on an imaginary timer. “Hey, Hari?”

“Uh huh?” He responded, his eyes lazily and slowly drifted towards yours from his phone. Once your eyes met he paused, some emotion flashing across his face you couldn’t quite place.

 

“I’ve been wanting to talk to you about something.” You started, unsure all of a sudden how to continue. You didn’t miss the fact that you all of sudden had his immediate full attention on you; he even put his phone away. “It’s been on my mind for a while and…”

You let out a soft chuckle, as the nerves took over. You struggled to maintain eye contact with him, your heart racing faster than before. “Well I…” You were struggling with how to phrase anything and before you knew it, your mouth started working faster than your brain as you began rambling. “I just love your company, and find you so fun to be around. You’re just really cool and…really everything about you is just so interesting. Li-like your hair! I stare at it all the time, and I know you have a complicated relationship with it but I’ve always wanted to say that I actually really like it a lot.”

“It frames your face well, and the quirk aspect of it and how it affects it is really cool. Not that I wanted to sit here talking about your quirk. That's not what I wanted to talk about. I wanted to go through some plan to explain how much I like you and wanted to start going out with you but not as friends. Not that I don’t want to be your friend! I love being your friend! I just also really love….you….”

You trailed off slowly when you finally realized how much you’ve said out loud. Hari stood in front of you, his cheeks and ears burning red. His eyes were wide in shock as he rapidly blinked, as though that would help him process faster. You stared in horror, your brain working in overtime to remember everything you just said. You winced and started sheepishly laughing. 

“I didn’t mean to um…go off like that.” You tried explaining. 

He started rubbing the back of his neck and tilting his head backwards to look towards the sky. Was it hot today? He felt really warm. He started nervously laughing, which quickly evolved into an infectious giggle. He was clearly nervous but you couldn’t help but smile at how cute it sounded. 

“I’m sorry, I didn’t really get to say anything like I wanted to and you probably didn’t understand a word I said.” You said, looking down at the ground. You hoped he didn’t. “What I was going to say was–”

“I like you a lot.” He said simply, interrupting you. “More than a lot.”

You paused, looking up at his face which was still looking up towards the sky. He had closed his eyes. “Do you actually like my hair?” He asked, finally looking back down at your face. He was flustered. That was actually an understatement. 

You looked puzzled but only for a moment. “Yeah, I do.” You confessed. 

He gave a slight grimace. “It’s okay if you’re just saying that, I know how weird it is.” He softly said, pulling at the collar of his uniform.

“I wasn’t lying, you know.” You told him, reaching a hand out to grab the hand he had on his collar but not move it. “You’re also changing the subject.”

“Noticed that, huh?” He said, giving a small chuckle. “You just uh surprised me.”

“Well it was supposed to go a lot more smoothly, to be fair.” You explained before pointing to the now empty drink he had in his hand. “For starters, I was supposed to get that for you, not Kai.”

“Oh,” He said before laughing, and just like before it was just as infectious. You laughed along with him as you took his hand and brought it lower, gently stroking a finger over his knuckles. You both made eye contact with each other which caused the laughter to slowly die off. He reached a hand forward, cupping your cheek. He moved faster than you processed, leaning down quickly as he pressed his lips to yours. You stood there shocked, not fully processing the situation before he pulled back. You blinked slowly before putting your attention full onto him, who looked somehow just as shocked as you. 

It was your turn to act without thinking. You let go of his hand, instead reaching upward to grab him by the collar of his uniform and dragged him towards you. Your lips crashed onto his messily, a muffled noise escaping Hari’s mouth. He quickly melted into your kiss though, placing his hands on your hips. You pulled back, his breathless reaction causing a flush to spread across your cheeks. 

“Since you’re the dumbfounded one now, I’ll restart my confession.” You began, not giving Hari the chance to interrupt. “I like you a lot and would very much like to be more than friends. Do you…feel the same way?”

Hari just stood there, rapidly blinking again as a stupid grin started forming on his face. He quickly nodded his head. “Absolutely,” He confessed. “Of course I do. I’ll happily tell you more but only if you do that again.”

You couldn’t help the grin that spread across your face as you happily indulged him again, making it far less clumsy this time. Both of you were too lost in your own world to notice how often Hari’s phone kept alerting him of a notification.

Dabi, Tomura, Compress, Overhaul and Chrono reaction when doctor inform them that their kid is quirkless

Tomura's relieved, because there's no chance that his past would repeat itself, except with his own kid

Because if it happened this time, it would at least end with you dead, and maybe him, but mainly because he's scared of what would happen to you

But at the same time, it means his kid isn't immune to his quirk

And since his "line of work" isn't exactly the safest, it would make them an easy target

He's terrified to touch them

Doesn't fully believe the doctors too

He won't carry any pictures of them, mention them, or interact with them until he's home

Can't risk anyone finding out about his kid

"Randomly" sticks up for 'em because "They're nice to Y/N and they like them"

If someone does find out, he just watches them and keeps his child close when they're around

Keeps artist gloves that he stole from some random PLF member

All in all, kinda overprotective but he's got a reason

It doesn't really change anything

He has a kid, he still has you, and he doesn't really care that they're quirkless

All he cares about is that he has a kid and you

Entertains them with his quirk since they don't have one

Teaches them about the original leagues' quirk(s)

Like Shig, he's concerned about them being an easy target, but he's not as cautious

In fact, he thinks that if they know he has a kid, people won't touch 'em

Which is partially true

Anyone that even mentions that his kid is quirkless is instantly fried

Only uses his quirk around the child if they're a safe distance away

Or if they're next to you because you're easier to see, so there's a smaller chance he won't notice the kid

Lets Toga and Twice interact with them.

Occasionally Spinner and Compress too

Will not let Shigaraki stay in the same room as them

Overhaul's disappointed to say the least

Yes, he has a kid now

But kids get sick a lot

And they're filthy

Noisy

Not to mention expensive too

To him, the only reason you'd want a kid is for company, or a quirk

He already has you, Chrono, Mimic, and the rest of the thug group

So if he had a kid, it would be for a quirk

But his kid doesn't, out of all fucking kids

He'll just ignore the kid completely, no matter how hard you try to get them to interact or bond

At least he doesn't treat them like Eri

But it's mainly because you're there honestly

They'd basically become everyone's kid except Overhaul's

Secretly loves them but it's too late because in his mind his kid probably hates him already

He probably loves them even more because they're quirkless

Always tells them that they're unique because most of the world has quirk now, and they're one that doesn't

Loves you even more if that's possible somehow because they're your kid too

Tries to get Eri to play with them

Spoils them (but makes sure they're grateful and not actually spoiled)

Has you all wear the clothes he wears for a family picture, except they're at least in your size

Brags about his kid because they're unique

Overhaul hates him now because he won't shut up

His first priority is always you and his kid

Fuck Overhaul's plans, he just wants to cuddle

Uses the excuse that he's dirty or that he's sick to get at least a day off just so he can stay with you two

Finds it adorable when they ask about his quirk and how it works

It's even better for him when they ask about yours and how it works (if you have one)

Still thinks that his kid is the best thing that happened to him (you too)

Tries to teach them what you like so they can take care of you when he's busy

Let's Shigaraki touch them ONLY if he has something on to stop his quirk

For the rest of the league, he's fine with it though

Child's gonna be spoiled I'm sorry

Can't tell you if they'll be a brat or not

He's gonna be the favorite parent, sorry buddy

Overhaul

— When he first met you the thing that was probably most special about you was your normalcy. Not possessing a quirk and no strong feelings about sick heroes or villains. It was interesting to him.

— Not letting an opportunity like this be passed up, he would offer you a job with him. He wanted to watch and study you more like one of his experiments.

— Sure, he loves your bright eyes and dimpled cheeks, but your personality was more interesting to him. You were less uptight and more carefree, naïve he thought. A quality he found annoying in some, but you were endearing.

— They are both traditional men, and all the actions they do to try to win you over involve traditional means.

— Not being the most proficient at words and Kai will avoid things like bold flirting and god forbid something dreadful like poetry.

— If he were to give you a compliment it’d be something like, “you look lovely.”

— His love language would probably be quality time or receiving gifts. Going out of his way to see you and scheduling time together as to make an effort that he has some sort of interest.

— Since buying expensive gifts might be off putting so early on, he would pay for things like your groceries, clothes that you were looking at, any trinkets that reminded him of you.

— It isn’t long before he confronts you with his feelings, being more upfront about this because it would be illogical for him to let you continue catching everyone else’s fancy.

Kurono

— What would interest him about you would be your personality, you were a kind, genuine person. Normally surrounded by coldhearted yakuza with their own ethics, it was a surprising change.

— You had a smile like sugar and a honeyed tongue to match it, usually that would mean someone is hiding ulterior motives, but you were an open book to him.

— Hari is a bit more emotional. He’s willing to be softer and caring for someone he’s interested in.

— Acts of service, helping you whenever he can, making sure you have everything you need. Things that would make your day easier.

— He is a very good at listening and will take note of anything that you mention that could be important. If you mention that your car broke down, he will make sure to call someone to fix it, things of that sort.

— He doesn’t have much experience with romance so he can be a bit awkward at times.

— Not knowing where the boundaries are and sometimes stepping on them, rushing into the relationship too quickly without taking your feelings into account. Telling him to wait for you until you’re ready should help him understand better.

— Rest assured though he won’t be looking at anyone else when he is trying to court you, he’s pretty loyal and doesn’t want to do you a disservice.

imagine eri kind of upset so reader and her sister decided to sing a song, both of them have a damn hella good voice and good combination? what if kai and chrono witness these?

I think they would both stand on either side of the open doorway to the room, out of sight from the three females inside and just give each other this knowing look that tells the other to keep quiet and just enjoy the sound. They both know that if their respective women were to notice them listening in on them, they would not only stop the melodious sounds they are producing together and probably never attempt it again, but that they will both be receiving the cold shoulder for the rest of the day/evening.

Kai hopes that he’ll be able to catch the sound of their singing more often once the baby is born, though he’d prefer to hear only his Love’s sweet voice singing solo to their child, he’ll take whatever he’s given. Hari, meanwhile, would have it much worse off as he doesn’t have access to his Darling as much as he would like and is grateful for any soft moment he can get with her, even if she doesn’t know he’s there.
