so is the lonely hearts job secretly an ot3 episode... not for significant ot3 moments but for how it highlights all these sweet moments between the three sides of the triangle, like, look at how much silliness and joy they bring to each other's LIVES.
also, eliot's smile is absolutely over how he's about to cook the most stupidest order of steak ever, but he will do it because he LOVES hardison.

the most ruthless we’ve ever seen eliot in canon is when those he loves are in danger and the thought of it makes me need to sit down

You know what I love about The Order 23 Job?
It's not the absolutely INSANE way Nate catches the bad guy, no. Though, being able to give a guy a nosebleed with the power of your mind is pretty hot.
No, what I LOVE about this episode is that Eliot is surrounded by cute nurses and he doesn't care. He doesn't care about the con. He doesn't care about the job. He sees a little boy with a broken arm, showing signs of abuse, and he gets tunnel vision.
I love it when Eliot threatens the boys father, takes his actual freaking driver's license! I love when Eliot tries to empower the boy to speak up for himself, AND, when he learns that the boy can't trust ANY of the cops in town, Eliot takes the matter to the US Marshals.
He literally tells a freaking marshal that a little boy is in trouble and living with his abuser, and that his abuser is on friendly terms with the cops in town, and will he please help him out?
I love that the marshal takes the matter seriously. Instead of being like, "well, that's not my jurisdiction," he takes care of it. He personally goes to the boy's house and tells him, "let's talk. You'll be okay." He personally removes the boy from the presence of his abuser WHILE the abuser is watching!
I love that Eliot is outside the house watching them, instead of just passing the message along and letting the marshal take care of it. He goes to the house and watches, makes sure--until the very last second--that that little boy is safe. He makes sure that that little boy will never have to be afraid of his father again.
And if this episode isn't enough to get you to fall in love with Eliot Spencer, then you're a monster.

op's tags go HARD
#AND TO BE PERFECTLY CLEAR. I *CALLED* THE BREW PUB AS A RESPONSE TO THE VENUS FLY TRAP IN MY NOTES. THE PHYSICAL NOTES I TAKE#WHENEVER I WATCH LEVERAGE. I JUST DIDN'T REALIZE IT WAS THIS IMMEDIATE#my notes literally go girls/boys night out job 'parker is the only one playing 4d relationship chess so far. when does hardison join in &#what makes parker sure enough to push eliot more or is it just inevitable eliot's a part of the relationship conversation p&h have btween#seasons?' and then the lonely hearts job immediately afterwards is like. romantiv love exists. look at this very meaningful gesture eliot#made on hardison's behalf. answering the how does hardison clue in and what makes p&h confident enough to push question at the exact same#time. and then in the gold job. 'portland restaurants'. being searched. i swear to god.
in the lonely hearts club job leverage asks the question "does romantic love exist?" and answers it by having eliot buy parker a venus fly trap on hardison's behalf, expecting no recognition and revealing eliot remembers a throwaway comment parker made on their second job together.
we all know this.
but was anybody going to tell me hardison already had a browser window open looking for restaurants to buy eliot in portland in response at the start of the episode immediately after that? or was i supposed to figure it out on a rewatch all by myself?!

the grave danger job is so crazy like yes nate and sophie are worried but eliot and parker are more worried. parker’s frantic. she can’t bring herself to tell him she loves him but she calls him alec. eliot’s tearing through goons with more rage than god. they finally pull him out of the coffin, parker’s in tears. eliot, eliot pulls hardison into a hug. “dont do that again,” he says. anyways my point is its a top ot3 episode

I love everything about this scene, especially since throughout this episode, Eliot is pretty controlled and calm. He doesn't react to the CIA guy's goading, and he's generally pretty zen (well, he's grumpy, but that's basically his version of zen).
But the thing that makes him truly angry and go all out? Hardison is in danger. You can see his demeanor change the moment he knows Hardison needs his help. And it's beautiful.

in the nigerian job, as a rebuttal to eliot teasing him that he has no game when flirting with parker, hardison replies, ‘age of the geek baby, age of the geek’
the last time the phrase was repeated was in the long goodbye job, in the van where parker, hardison, and eliot lay bleeding out from their wounds
‘did eliot make it’ hardison asks shakily, unable to move his gaze from the blurry ceiling
eliot, with his less injured arm, fumbles to grasp hardison’s hand. ‘age of the geek, brother’
they both share wet, bloody smiles
parker gazes at them as she is propped up by the side of the van. she knows. they are going to die. but at least they are together, in the end
and they fade out of consciousness together as one, holding hands as they go into the dark

which fucking queer sat down in the writer’s room for leverage and wrote the rundown job huh ??? HUH ???
why is hardison fist bumping his “best friend” about how hot his girlfriend is ?? why is eliot grabbing hardison by the back of neck, pulling him in with the most intense stare ever, and then doing the verbal praise equivalent of making out with him ??? eliot is an obviously traumatized self reliant prickly bastard, and yet he decides to throw away his crutches and completely rely on the other two for support ???
god take me now. leverage writers had absolutely zero business drenching this episode with all this polyamorous energy in the year of our lord 2012– hell gay marriage wasn’t even federally legal yet. they knew exactly what the fuck they were doing and i am kissing them on the mouth for it.

hardison is such a homemaker... always getting them fully furnished new bases, always getting them ID's and plane tickets. is it any wonder that parker is so attracted to someone who always makes others just that bit more comfortable, who cares so obviously, who will make you a home that you can go to and leave from unconditionally, even if you never had a home like that before.
