Trying to explain to my girlfriend how I got nail chemicals on my tongue but then realizing halfway through the story that "I licked my nails while it had chemicals on it to try and flatten the polish out :( " sounds fucking insane and like I was absoloutley asking for what I got. And then derailing the conversation to try and justify WHY I did that for like 5 minutes as she looks at me in increasing levels of concern. Anyways. My tongue hurts.

Personal headcanon about the "you picked the wrong dellamorte" line, I don't think illario actually likes rook outside the context of them being someone close to lucanis. Like rook on their own isn't much to him, but when they meet it's yet another person talking about his cousin (why isn't he good enough for whatever job they're hiring for?) and on top of that they somehow bring him back from the dead (another whole can of worms for illario). Now he starts turning on the charm, but whether he's actually interested or this is just one more thing his cousin has that he doesn't and it gets under his skin, who knows. Either way, rook ignores illario, the guy who lives off his charm, and is instead interested in the guy who's never even dated before and thinks giving someone a knife is how to flirt. Infuriating

NO THANK YOU !! i am genuinely sorry if i have ever implied illario is into rook like i see some takes about it and unless it like ties into your rook's personal backstory i don't seriously think he's romantically jealous. at all. my enjoyment of that line stems from illario's pathological need to make it about himself and not see his strengths but what lucanis has, and therefore what he doesn't. he's annoyed enough to try and goad you in the middle of a fight about the 'wrong' dellamorte and completely blind to the fact that the venatori are at best, a stupid fucking alliance, and at worst, a cult that will devour the crows from the inside out and illario would have been the one to give them the keys. he sees lucanis make allies, needs his own, and instead of charming the other talons/houses as he should, he (probably spitefully) picks the venatori. or maybe he just thought it would be easier. ugh he makes me want to telekenetically throw him around

I was thinking... It seems to me that you mostly like the post-canon character states of Jayce and Viktor? I think you like the more confident and self-aware post-trauma Jayce (when he is present) and the more insecure Viktor, or... As if he has an enormous guilt to overcome.

Or even just like, Dazai noticed him from far away and went out of his way to avoid Chuuya to go pay respects to Oda because it's probably the most awkward and uncomfortable time they could be running into one another.

Chuuya doesn't notice because his back's turned and he's down on one knee with a bouquet of flowers in an iron grip, clearly occupied and even while Dazai reaches his destination, his attention keeps drifting to Chuuya up on the hill, silently praying for Chuuya to not turn around and see him.

But then they do run into each other because they take the same way out of the cemetery and they just exchange knowing glances. Like, of course Dazai knows what Chuuya's doing there, and vice versa.

The air is heavy and neither look any more at peace after paying respects, but that familiarity that neither are immune to processing grief years later brings a semblance of comfort.

actually though idle reminded me nevecanis exists and im thinking about it now. why is lucanis' romance locked for rook if you save minrathous but he still ends up with neve.

like, if he didn't end up with anyone else, it'd be easy to say he just can't handle letting someone in (it just makes sense, given his hardened arc). if he ended up with someone else, like davrin or something, then it'd be easy to say that while he doesn't blame rook, he also can't handle being with someone who was involved in the decision that ultimately led to his city being blighted. tragic, but understandable.

but he ends up with NEVE. the person who pushed hard for rook to save minrathous instead of treviso. she is just as involved in that decision as rook is! she directly benefits from rook's decision to save minrathous! so it just makes the fact that he's not romanceable with rook completely nonsensical.

am i missing something??? is there an explanation somewhere in banter or whatever that i haven't seen yet?

now there was no reason for lucanis to be given purple johnny silverhand as a plot point and then never have the purple johnny silverhand utilized except for maybe 3 or 4 times in the game (if you saved Treviso, otherwise it's twice) and dialogue. Dialogue where he pretty much just says weird and funny things and occasionally gets scolded like a dog which is entertaining sure but there is Literally A Demon In One Of The Companions Why Is This Not A Bigger Deal

That cut Lucanis romance line suggesting a tiny bit of jealousy and that he and Spite might be subtly/inwardly sort of competing for Rook's affection oh my god
