Tuesday, August 1.
Architecture.
Firmitas, utilitas, venustas.
These are the central pillars of, well, #architecture, according to Roman architect Vitruvius in the early 1st century AD. These are the principles that should guide the mind, eye, and, ultimately, the hand of the architect. The original translation would convey this as firmness, commodity, and delight. Another translation into more contemporary English would be firstly, durability: that a building should stand up robustly and remain in good condition; secondly, utility: it should be suitable for the purposes for which it is used; and finally, beauty: that it should be aesthetically pleasing.
There are many definitions, understandings, and theories of what makes architecture, or what separates it from construction. What is easily understood is that architecture is a testament to our ability to create forms and landscapes as compelling as those provided by the natural worldâand that you very rarely feel as present as when you walk the streets of a new city, and marvel at the shapes, forms, and styles that surround you.Â
But why not leave it to the experts? Le Corbusier, a renowned 20th-century architect, once wrote: "You employ stone, wood, and concrete, and with these materials you build houses and palaces: that is construction. Ingenuity is at work. But suddenly you touch my heart, you do me good. I am happy and I say: This is beautiful. That is Architecture".Â

Give me 10 things that you love about hyunjin which you think other people overlook
GO !!
omgâŠ.. hyune essay incoming. everything in italics is things hyunjin said that i carry with me forever (mostly from the bubble community)
there is so much to love about hyunjin i truly donât know where to start. heâs so emotionally intelligent. he knows exactly what to say to comfort someoneâ you have to find happiness in everyday life because if you look for it in ideals, it becomes nothing more than an illusionâ donât worry, there is no such thing as forever, there will be an end to the sadness too even if you donât end it. (this sentence particularly made me so emotional when i first read it, because, even if i donât do anything to end my sadness, because often times there is not much one can do, there will be a day when iâll wake up, on a random tuesday, and the sun will be out, and i will take a deep breath and it wonât feel as heavy anymore on my chest)
heâs so eloquent and he speaks his thoughts so beautifully with the conviction of someone who has lived a thousand years. i love how sensitive he is, more so how he seems secure in his sensitivity and the tender feelings he carries within his heart. i love how he doesnât feel bad about feeling too much, about loving too much, about trusting people. âi trust easily, get hurt easily, regret easily and repeat the process, isnât that what we live for?âi love how heâs kept his heart open in spite of all his years in such a harsh industry, that has at times been so evil to himâ wounds that are caused by humans are also healed by humansâ it takes a lot of courage to do that, so i admire his strength and resilience. strength isnât always coating your skin with thorns and building high walls around youâ for hyunjin, it is to accept darkness as a natural path to reach the light, to welcome harshness so that the kindness of others would feel more meaningful, to wish goodness to people who dislike youâeven if you hate me, i canât hate youâi love how he loves flowers, even when they wither, he still sees beauty in themâbut there's a meaning to how flowers grew. Isn't it because I know that they grew with difficulty that I feel they're prettier?âand i think thatâs just a testament to what a beautiful soul he has.
i love how vulnerable he is with us. how his questions are always worded in such an innocent wayâ who can recommend a book about recovering lost romance?âi started to wonder why i draw. the reason why i ask is i think that only someone who loves me can find the answer. i love how his view of love isnât tainted. how he craves love and is loud about itâ please love me a lot. thank you for loving me today tooâi love how he takes time out of his busy schedules to talk to us, to actually talk to us in a meaningful way. love how all of this translates into the art that he makes. i think iâll stop here because if i delve into his art this will be too long to read đ
#i dont these are things people overlook i just started rambling#itâs 1 am yk thank you for sending this :â)#i feel warm thinking about all of this#i hope he has the happiest life he deserves it#as do you my love#i dont think**#sahar's.asks <3

Okay, my brain has been on overdrive since last Tuesday, SO I offer you 3 insane theories and a fanfic style ending to connect them based on what we know as of ep 5 of The Acolyte!
Theory 1: Osha and Maeâs true origin
Mother Aniseya describes the covenâs interpretation of the force as a thread that when pulled can change things. Later, Koril makes a point to remind Aniseya that the Jedi would not approve of how the twins were created. This could be world building to show the differences/conflicts between the witches and the Jedi, but what if itâs more?
A witch would not go about creating a being like the Sith did; they would attempt some kind of ritual. One that matches their own beliefs and uses of the force: a cause and effect based on how one shifts the thread. They would not forge life essence out of nothing, they would transfer life essence from one sentient to another. Using, say, a sacrifice. THAT is how Mae and Osha came to beâand how they differ from Anakin.
Theory 2: Qimir is a front for Mother Koril
What do we know about Mother Koril? She is strong in the force, she can go into peopleâs minds, she loves her children but has a strong hand with discipline, she despises the Jedi, she is willing to fight for her family, and her death is not seen.
SO, considerâ what if Qimir was either someone that Koril puppets or someone who made a bargain with Koril for power?
Hear me out, this would explain why Qimir sticks with Mae so closely, seemingly upset when she pretends to be hurt. Thatâs why he doesnât kill her (or Osha) when he has the chance. Koril through Qimir was trying to scare Mae, maybe even hurt her a bit, to keep Mae under her thumb. Thatâs why Sol says he sensed something familiar and why Yord feels the same effects that Osha says her mother had.
And it makes sense for Koril to keep hidden from Mae since she knows Jedi can infiltrate minds (she thought Osha was manipulated on Brendok and Qimirâs first comment in the shop was to not mess with his mind). This proves smart as Sol did look into Maeâs head for her master and finds exactly what Koril wanted: nothing.
With the tragedy of her people and no one left to balance her, Korilâs anger and brutality would spiral. Without her coven, she is weakened, so she amasses power through the dark side, dwelling in her desire for revenge. A venture which she has Mae take on as the Acolyte.
Then, after Mae quits, Qimir still kills Kelnacca because Koril wants the four Jedi to pay more than Mae ever did. Mae was just the cover, the explanation for why these Jedi were being targeted when someone came looking. What they werenât supposed to know is that the one driving the mission was always the Master, Koril. Hence why Mae is so willing to drop everything when she discovers Osha is alive. But while Mae is happy, Koril is angry because the Jedi turned Osha against them then kidnapped her. Thatâs why Qimir emerges to see Osha when he really could have stayed hidden, then shooes her away to kill all the Jedi in sight, singling out Sol later and taunting him about being two faced, knowing he must have lied to keep Oshaâs trust.
Now to set the scene:
While Maeâs off being the wolf in sheepâs clothing with Sol, Qimir is alone with Osha. Koril knows that she cannot be influenced like Mae. Not as a child and not now. So Koril sends him away and reveals herself, reveals what actually happened on Brendok (I imagine there was some kind of confrontation where the witches wanted the Jedi to leave and the Jedi refused to leaved without Osha and things got out of hand in addition to the fire/explosion), and finally the ritual. She says that from the moment Aniseya reshaped the stolen life essences into one, infusing it with the covenâs power, then into two, their destinies were set, forever intertwined with the coven and each other. The Jedi tried to destroy thatâto their own detriment. She tells Osha to take their deaths as a testament that no one can alter destiny.
Theory 3: Osha and Sol are connected (my final and most far-reaching theory)
For good measure, Koril shows Osha a vision of the ritual, but in doing so also shows the two sacrifices. Two Jedi. (Maybe theyâd been sent to investigate the coven before theyâd sought refuge in Brendok and the Mothers decided to hit two birds with one stone). But the real shock, the real clincher, is that Osha recognizes them. She knows them by heart because Sol kept pictures of them. Because they had been close once.
And this is where Osha realizes Koril is wrong. The ritual must have messed up someway, somehow. Mae must have received the imprint of the covenâs powers and purpose while Osha received the Jediâsâalongside their bonds with Sol. Suddenly, everything makes sense: Why Osha had been so instinctually adamant about becoming a Jedi, drawing their symbol before she knew what it meant, and forming such an instant connection with Sol. More than that, why Sol had ben drawn to Brendok in the first place, how he knew about the twins, and why he fought for Osha beyond what protocol dictated. The ritual, their destinies, had been altered, and consequently, so had everyone elseâs around them.
The final confrontation:
By this time Mae would likely have outed herself to Sol and, subduing her, Sol would rush back, coming across this scene with Koril and a horrified Osha. Koril and Sol fight, meanwhile, Osha reels from the knowledge that it was never Maeâs obsession/attachment that doomed their coven, it was both of them. It was the very act that brought them into the galaxy that sealed their familyâs fate. So she makes a choice. She and Mae have been the cause of it all, so they need to be the solution. The ritual, the mistake, the curse, has to be undone.
Osha has an idea what to do, but canât do it alone. She reaches out her hand for Mae and Mae, overjoyed at finally being accepted by her sister again, takes it. Together, using either what Osha saw in the vision or what they learned as kids, they recite their poem and begin the reversal.
Koril, seeing this, runs over, but itâs too late, the process has begun. While she fights her way closer, Sol is stuck on the outside. The twins get to the final point, but they canât return their lives to the Jedi who were killed because thereâs nothing left of them. So, Osha redirects their life forces to two different Jedi whose lives were taken because of events surrounding the twins, who werenât given a pyre funeral, who were within reach. The two sisters embrace a final time as their undoing is complete. Koril gets to them right as the backlash hits and Sol is knocked back, unconscious.
He wakes in a haze, searching for Osha, but the only thing that remains is Korilâs lifeless body. Sol is still processing when Yord and Jecki run out of the forest, confused yet completely healed. He stares at them, shocked, as they ask whatâs going on, whereâs Osha, and why thereâs so many dead Jedi with lightsaber wounds around Kelnaccaâs home.
Sol realizes he is now the sole (haha, get it?) survivor to know the truth about the events of both Brendok and Khofar. He should tell the truth, but ultimately decides not to. He wonât risk Jecki and Yord remembering the blood bath or their own horrific deaths. He wonât let Oshaâs name be marred by her origins or start a witch hunt over covens and Sith that no longer exist. So, the three simply gather the bodies and leave.
The official story is that Koril, revealed to have survived as Maeâs master, killed Kelnacca, stole his saber, and used it to kill the other Jedi. During this, Osha got through to Mae and together the twins teamed up to stop their mother, sacrificing themselves in the process.
In the end, everyone gets what they want:
Mae gets to be one with her sister again, Osha gets to save her friends and find closure/peace, Koril is with her coven in the beyond, Jecki and Yord live to find their own story. And Sol, well, Sol is left to finish the narrative. He would leave whatâs left of Koril in her village alongside Maeâs daggers and something of Oshaâs so that the family may rest together at last. Heâd go on, guiding Yord, training Jecki (eventually taking her to get another crystal because sheâs Cleary meant to wield two blades) and making sure that Osha is never forgotten.
(Iâm aware this wonât happen; it is NOT a legitimate prediction. Itâs just me sitting in a bubble of denial and deliberation while I still can :) )
Edit: I have made changes after some Enlightenment and the realization that I apparently have no eye for subtle chemistry between Star Wars characters. Thank you.
#if you actually read all that. you are amazing#alternately titled: how to get Yord & Jecki back#Iâm not sorry#the acolyte#osha aniseya#mae aniseya#qimir#mother koril#master sol#jecki lon#yord fandar#yes I did just invent a complex theory based on sheer will of wanting Jecki & Yord back#let me grieve#but no hate please#this isnât criticism#I actually love the show

All 41 construction workers trapped inside a tunnel that collapsed in the Himalayas after a Nov. 12 landslide have finally been rescued, authorities said Tuesday.
âThe happiness on the faces of the workers and their families is the biggest inspiration for me,â said Pushkar Singh Dham, chief minister of the state of Uttarakhand, where the construction was taking place, in a post shared on X (formerly known as Twitter).
âIt is a matter of great joy for all of us that all the 41 workers trapped in the tunnel under construction in Silkyara (Uttarakashi) have been rescued safely. Initial health checkup of all the labor brothers is being done in the temporary medical camp,â he continued.
Rescuers drilled through rock and concrete to reach the workers, with the evacuation beginning more than six hours later after they broke through the debris, per Reuters. The workers were then freed after 17 days stuck in the collapsed construction site.

The Guardian reported that the first worker emerged around 8 p.m. local time on Tuesday. The rescued workers were met with garlands of flowers placed on them, and cooked meals were being prepared outside of the chamber. Footage shared by BBC News showed the workers being cheered on and applauded as ambulances transported them away from the site.
Jyotish Basumatary, a brother of worker Sanjay Basumatary, told The New York Times: âI will accompany Sanjay when he gets out. I feel at peace at the moment. We feel energized and happy to be told the ordeal will be over soon.â
On Nov. 12, a landslide resulted in a part of the 2.8-mile tunnel that was being built by the workers to cave in approximately 650 feet from the entrance, the Associated Press reported. The news agency added that workers subsisted on food and oxygen that came through steel pipes.
Related: At Least 162 Dead in Myanmar Jade Mine Collapse Caused by Landslide: A 'Preventable Tragedy'
According to CNN, initial rescue attempts were hampered when the heavy machinery needed to drill through the debris broke down, prompting the rescuers to dig using their hands. When the drilling was finished, CNN added, a large pipe was brought in through the exit shaft's last portion so the trapped workers could finally evacuate.Â
âI feel relieved and happy to learn that all the workers trapped in a tunnel in Uttarakhand have been rescued,â Droupadi Murmu, the president of India, posted on X.
She continued, âTheir travails over 17 days, as the rescue effort met with obstacles, have been a testament of human endurance. The nation salutes their resilience and remains grateful to them for building critical infrastructure, even at great personal risk, far away from their homes. I congratulate the teams and all experts who have acted with incredible grit and determination to perform one of the most difficult rescue missions in history.â
Dham also said on X that the rescue operation "became a wonderful example of humanity and teamwork."
A majority of the trapped workers hailed from some of Indiaâs poorer states, the Times reported, with their relatives saying that the workers made about $250 a month.

đ„€ đȘ đŠ :)
um helloooo..happy tuesday michelle
đ„€ âą recommend an author or fanfic you love
um i love recency bias so ill say my favorite fic from the last couple weeks is a little ditty called a lot like love idk if you've ever heard of it it's pretty niche :/
đȘ âą whatâs the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?
um i looked into different ghost town origins and histories as they related to nuclear testing sites in the southwest for the fight scene in psychopomp
i also get ideas from the podcast curious city- its a super cute podcast about stories from around chicago
đŠ âą share something that has been on your heart and mind latelyÂ
ill keep it writing related bc my heart and mind are understandably heavy when it comes to non-writing things these days and not in a fun way
i was really interested in writing as a kid but basically abandoned it as a hobby in favor of visual arts and thats ultimately a good thing, it lead me to the career i have and love but sometimes it bums me out to think about how much more developed i would be if i hadnt put it down for so long, but what an awesome testament to fanfiction as an accessible way to rediscover writing a decade later...in conclusion, how bittersweet but ultimately wonderful, life is so cyclical
thank you for asking!! heres the game for anyone who wants to reblog+play!

10 Exciting Facts About Easter Sunday
By: Shash Wighton
Updated: 3 December 2022
For those who grew up without much religion in their lives, Easter Sunday was more about chocolate Easter eggs and little more than that.
This day means much more to Christians, though, with some preferring to call it âResurrection Sunday.â
This is because the New Testament describes Easter Sunday as the day that Jesus Christ rose from the dead, three days after he had been crucified by the Romans all the way back in 30 AD.
Easter has got to be one of the most confusing celebrations held throughout the year due to this fact, but weâre here to clear this up for you.
First, letâs go into why this happens in the first place.
As we now all know, Easter Sunday is connected to the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
This gets a little complicated, as this event was only recorded in the Jewish calendar that happened just after the Jewish festival of Passover.
The Jewish calendar doesnât sync up with the Gregorian calendar, which most of the world relies upon, as itâs based on lunar cycles rather than the movements of the sun.
While a solar year contains 365.24 days, a lunar year only contains about 354.
The date of Passover also changes, as it takes place on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the 20th of March, which also ultimately affects the date Easter Sunday lands on.
Obviously, it is still possible to calculate what date Easter Sunday will fall on, but it involves a bit of maths and the consultation of charts, so we wonât bore you with that and instead suggest you simply Google it!
Not just in English, either, as the Dutch and German for Easter are Ooster and Ostern, respectively.
In Old English, the celebration was usually recorded as Äastrun, Äastre, Äastru, or Äostre.
The origin of Easterâs name doesnât stop there, though.
In 725, Saint Bede, a Benedictine monk in the old English kingdom of Northumbria, wrote that the name is connected to the pagan goddess Äostre.
Feasts were celebrated in honor of Äostre in ÄosturmĆnaĂŸ (Month of Äostre), which is the equivalent to April today.
At some point, the Pagan goddessâ name was appropriated by Christians for the name of Easter Sunday.
Like Easter Sunday, Good Friday also has a couple of other names, including Great Friday, Holy Friday, and even Great and Holy Friday.
Just like Easter Sunday, Good Friday changes date every year due to its connection to Jesus Christ.
Good Friday commemorates the day when Christ was crucified and killed by the Romans.
As Christâs crucifixion happened a set amount of time before he was resurrected, the date is fixed according to Easter Sunday.
Fun Fact: Good Friday is not named such because the day was a happy day, but because âgoodâ used to be a synonym of âpiousâ and âholy.â
Many Christians around the world observe the tradition of Lent.
During this period, diligent Christians must give up a Lenten sacrifice (some form of pleasure or luxury) for forty days.
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and runs until Easter Sunday.
Traditionally, people in the English-speaking world would use up their eggs, dairy, and other richer foods the day before they began a fast for Lent on Ash Wednesday.
Because of this, Shrove Tuesday began to be known as Pancake Day in the UK.
The tradition crossed the channel into France, where it became known as Mardi Gras (which translates to âFat Tuesdayâ).
Shrove Tuesday, Fat Tuesday, Mardi Gras, or however you want to call it is the day that slowly evolved into a day where celebrants feast on finer foods, especially on pancakes.
The eating of lamb on this day goes back further than Christ himself, as it is actually connected to the Jewish festival of Passover.
Passover celebrates the emancipation of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt, and at the end of it, a âPassover lambâ is slaughtered and eaten.
The tradition of eating lamb at the end of Passover was likely continued by those who eventually converted to Christianity, and the tradition of eating lamb on Easter Sunday began.
Itâs been justified by Christians as the lamb is said to represent Christâs sacrifice on the cross, but these days many non-religious British families also enjoy a lamb roast on Easter Sunday.
The Eastern Orthodox Church, which includes the Russian and Greek Orthodox Churches, celebrates many similar holidays to other Christians, including Easter Sunday.
For them, it lies on a different date, as events in the Orthodox Church are calculated according to the Julian Calendar, which much of the world used before changing to the current Gregorian calendar in the 16th Century.
So the date is different because of the use of two different calendar systems, but thatâs not all.
When the Eastern Orthodox Church was formed, they decided to use a different formula for calculating what day Easter Sunday fell on.
Because of this, thereâs actually no set number of days between Easter and Orthodox Easter, with the two occasionally falling on the same day!
These days, itâs not a good Easter Sunday without more chocolate eggs than you should probably eat. However, that hasnât always been the case and still isnât in some Christian countries.
Before Easter Sunday was celebrated with chocolate Easter Eggs, people used actual eggs dyed with natural plant dyes and decorated with intricate designs.
This tradition is said to go back to some of the earliest days of Christianity, with the eggs originally dyed red to represent the blood that Christ shed when he was crucified.
Followers of the Greek Orthodox Church still paint their Easter eggs red.
The painting of Easter Eggs is still carried out in most countries with ties to the various Orthodox Christian churches, with chocolate Easter eggs considered a more âWesternâ notion.
In 1772, Easter Sunday fell on April 5.
It also happened to be the day when Dutch explorer Jacob Roggeveen first set foot on the island, which came to be known in the English-speaking world as Easter Island.
It was already called Rapa Nui by the islandâs local inhabitants, but Roggeveen decided to name it after Easter Sunday anyway.
Well, sort of.
He actually named it Paasch-Eyland, which, in 18th-century Dutch, translated to âEaster Island" in English.
As we now know, the date of Easter Sunday is calculated according to a formula that, among other things, takes both the lunar and solar calendars into account.
Because of this, Easter Sunday can be anywhere between March 22 and April 25.
One would easily be forgiven for thinking that any given dates that Easter Sunday land on do not actually repeat themselves in a cycle, as it seems to be different every year.
Thatâs not exactly true, though.
The specific cycle that it goes through (e.g., April 1 in 2018, April 21 in 2019, April 12 in 2020, and so on) has so many factors affecting it that it takes a mind-bending 5.7 million years to repeat itself.

Proud of My Hometown
El Greco's 1st initial 3â
story (2/2) ( 1 - 2 )
Location: kitchen (evening) ; dormitory hallway (morning) | Characters: El Greco, Rembrandt, Munch, Van Dyck
El Greco: What do you want to know about my hometown?
Rembrandt: Well, first of aaaall, what kind of place is this island surrounded by fog? What is its name?
El Greco: The truth dwells only in my heart.
Munch: He can't go into detail.
Van Dyck: Why? Why don't you at least say its name?
El Greco: Let's just say it is a place where proud people who respect the island's customs live.
Van Dyck: What's that... I mean, what are the island's customs?
El Greco: On their birthday, children receive gifts from everyone on the island.
Munch: Wooow, that's a very nice custom! Sounds fun!
Rembrandt: El Greco-kun, what else is there?
El Greco: We always make sure to get a haircut on Tuesday.
Van Dyck: Huh? What if you want to get your hair done on another day of the week?
El Greco: I don't. I don't want to get a haircut except on Tuesdays.
Van Dyck: I-Is that soâŠ
Rembrandt: It's a biiig world, isn't it? It's fun to hear about all these customs that are new to me. I'll have to try not to forget them.
Van Dyck: ⊠Is it something to take notes of? To absolutely get a haircut on Tuesdays
Rembrandt: Yeah, it's not often you get to hear stories like this. I'll have to remember it.
Munch: I want to go to Niko-chan's place someday too~ My friends also want to meet the islanders!
Van Dyck: But he said earlier that the location was a secret⊠But it sure makes me curious. Do all the people on the island dress like you?
El Greco: Yes. It is one of the customs to pay attention to the attire.
Rembrandt: Everyone must be sooo fashionable~
Van Dyck: I might like to visit such a place. It's fun to see fashionable people.
El Greco: I'm very happy to hear your compliments about my hometown. The spirits of my homeland would be happy to be honored in a faraway land. Besides, your sleeves are always spotless too.
Van Dyck: Huh?
Munch: He said Vanny always looks beautiful!
Van Dyck: ! W-Well, of course! I always try to be beautiful.
Fufu. I thought you were brusque, but you're a pretty talkative guy, aren't you? Hey, next time you go shopping in town, take me with you. It'll be fun to pick out clothes with you.
El Greco: Of course.
Rembrandt: And a new friendship has bloomeed~ That's a veeery nice thing!~
Munch: Good for you, Niko-chan! You've made another friend!
El Greco: It feels like someone made me a meal when I was sick.
Van Dyck: ⊠Are you saying you're happy?
Munch: Yes yes, now you understand him too, Vanny!
Van Dyck: Well, now that's something.
El Greco: Then, is it okay if we go shopping this Saturday?
Van Dyck: Fine for me. This is also one of your customs, right?
El Greco: No, I had an open schedule, soâŠ
Munch: Vanny, you're a know-it-all! That's what my friends say!
Van Dyck: S-Shut up! Saturday, right? My schedule is empty!
El Greco: I see. I'm looking forward to it.
â
Rembrandt: What's for lunch todaaay?~
Van Dyck: It's not beautiful when your stomach growls. We have to eat soon.
Munch: Heeey, Rembraa, Vanny!
Van Dyck: Munch? Ah, El Greco as well. I mean, what's with the basket? Are you taking it to the kitchen?
El Greco: I stocked up on shellfish from my hometown. It's a testament to the new friendship that was forged yesterday. I'll serve them to you.
Munch: He says it's a taste of his hometown!
Rembrandt: Thank you! I wonder, what kind of shells does your hometown have, El Greco-kuuun?~
Van Dyck: Indeed, I can't imagine that at all.
Munch: You'll understand when you see them! Here!
Van Dyck: !? S⊠Snails!?
Rembrandt: Woooow~ I've never eaten them before~ There are soooo many!
Munch: They look deliciouuus!~ I wonder how they taste!
Van Dyck: NO WAAAAY! That's disgusting! I like you and your hometown's fashion, but not that one!
El Greco: You will love them. Don't hesitate to try them.
Van Dyck: A-ABSOLUTELY NOOOOT!!
