HAIKYUU HEADCANONS 2

Daichi Sawamura

Daichi "the greatest school dad" Sawamura

- Definitely a flower boy. If he sees a flower and it reminds him of one of his friends, he will buy them a bouquet of said flower. (You get one of these and you know you are his friend!)

- We all know the way Daichi sleeps. He definitely has his hands on his stomach. He likes to feel his stomach moving. I bet it is really comforting to him to know he is breathing.

- For all his close friends he has a playlist for them. Filled with songs that represent the person and their friendship. The team would go through them sometimes or just randomly play one on a long drive to another school. He would explain why he picked the songs and the team would give him their full attention because it is really interesting.

- Never forgets important dates. The day Hinata and Kageyama joined the team, birthdays, when he, Sugawara, and Asahi became friends. He remembers it all. He likes to keep track on how many years it has been, so get ready for him to say happy anniversary on a random Wednesday, got the whole class thinking y'all dating.

- As you all know the other leaders are basically in love with him in some type of way, so I bet he lives for compliments. No matter what “gender” the compliments are designed to be for. Call him pretty and he will give you his winning smile. He compliments people all the time just so they would feel comfortable complimenting him back.

- Definitely pets heads as a way of saying good job. Started with the first years, later turned into everyone. The first time he caught himself doing it was to Yachi when he visited her in her classroom to give her some papers. He was very embarrassed, but it stuck.

- Kinda sad but I bet he has nightmares of all the times he has been hurt on court. Ido not think he jumps up out of the bed in fear, but I bet he opens his eyes and just stares at the ceiling like, “Damn. That shit really did hurt.”

- He has control over his emotions. As much control as a teenage boy could have. I got this from how quickly he can switch between happy and playful to a serious leader. People do not talk about this element of him of lot. Can definitely calm anyone down, he just has such a calming vibe.

- Daichi is the definition of a nice guy. I swear he would never say or do something that would purposefully harm someone. If he is in a group of guys and they try to talk crap about girls, gays, or other guys he would definitely walk away. He wants no part of any of that mean shit. He is definitely the highlight of his class. I bet all the boys try to act like him or befriend to get game with the ladies.

- He loves his friends dearly. They are more important to him than himself. He is a very friend-oriented person (because I am, so he has to be as well). The idea of betraying a friend is very foreign to him.

Well. In total, the number is 56. Five are from the account that shall not be named and 51 are from my main one. I only have 16 Haikyuu works but hey, I started like five months ago and that's already pretty good in my standards.

Oof. I've been writing for marvel for ages but the top spot is a Haikyuu fic.

ahhhh the fic that started it all. literally the fic that made me begin my sunglasses series that I've heard praised so much and made me fall in love with writing all over again

Yes! Because I have no life and I love talking to people. Also I didn't used to but once I started writing more consistently, I also started replying more consistently. Mostly for sunglasses and the other stories. It really helped that I had returning commenters lol.

"What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?"

Uhhhhhhh. Ummmm. I guess it would have to be Out of Time or The Next Big Thing because those are both MCD, but both aren't angst angst I don't think? Out of Time's ending is technically a happy flashback and The Next Big Thing is a canon death but from the perspective of different characters after being twisted by my au... I guess it's up to the readers lol. I don't usually write angst but (shameless advertising) I'm writing this Iwaoi fic where some death happens and that counts as angst, right?

"What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?"

Shit y'all, all of my fics have happy endings (sans the MCDs)(one is an AU of an AU that I wrote to appease a fan and the other one gets brought back to life and gets together with his crush so like)... I don't know. My kagehina maybe. 7MIH. Take your pick. All of my Haikyuu fics have happy endings I think. My marvel stuff is a little iffy but I wouldn't read them anyway just for quality reasons.

"Do you write crossovers?"

Uhhhhhh... (checks my fandoms) no. Unfortunately, my brain doens't like to imagine cross-media (aka novel to tv series for example) crossovers and the ones that I could cross over already have too much going on (marvel). And generally... I don't really wanna.

"Have you ever received hate on a fic?"

Not that I know of. I've had spam comments and 'pls continue' comments but everyone in my works are pretty well-behaved and none of the fandoms I write for are active enough to be angry.

"Do you write smut? If so, what kind?"

I've seen my stuff on random fic platforms but idk I don't care. Attention is attention and any publicity is good publicity or whatever.

Nope but I've gotten comments in different languages once or twice that I had to put into google translate so I can respond exactly the same way as I do every single time!

"Have you ever co-written a fic before?"

Yes! One with my dear friend Anna a long time ago that we just kinda abandoned that I actually almost forgot about. And I'm listed as a co-creator on altruist but that's only cause I like formatting and I get a rush when I'm posting things.

"What’s your all-time favourite ship?"

Uhhhhhhh... daisuga...? They're the safest option to read usually and I'm more into them than most of the other ships I read (sorry to everyone who knows me from marvel but I don't read much from there and I haven't read much ushiten because I haven't been reading anything lately anyway)

"What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?"

Either the Funny Thing About Hope or Ushijima Wakatoshi Is Not Invincible. Planning both of those were so fun but my god I have not been able to get back into writing them. And also my aos rewrite but at least that one has a nice clean ending. Y'all can pretend that Wonderful World doesn't exist.

"What are your writing strengths?"

I talk a lot about nothing! But formatting, mostly.

"What are your writing weaknesses?"

I'd make a self-deprecating joke and say everything but I wanna be honest and say that it's probably anything physical whether it be the kissy-kissies or a fight scene. And volleyball matches, can't forget those.

"What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?"

I come from a writing background of Harry Potter fanfic so usually italics is fine for me. When I was younger and writing for Marvel (which was primarily Natasha Romanoff, featuring her fluency in multiple languages), I usually used italics and the script that google translate gave me, not the romanized version. Now that I'm older and having written for Haikyuu, I think it depends on who's saying it/ the perspective it's in. If I was writing in Peter Parker's pov and Natasha Romanoff said something in Russian, I wouldn't say what she said. I'd just say 'she muttered something in russian' or something like that. People can do what they want though and unless it's an important plot device I don't really care how I or anyone does it.

"What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to?"

I was actually talking about this with a new friend of mine today! I want to write for Kyouhaba someday. They're so cute and I haven't been able to because I've been on a block and I gave my one idea for them to Iwaoi so. Yeah.

"What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?"

I don't remember writing most of my fics. Or any of them. Even as I check the list, I draw blanks. Whose fics are these? Not mine. I've never seen these fics ever in my life.

That being said, I really liked writing Dictionary, even if it's one of the darker things I've written. I also really liked writing to build a home because 1) that was a gift to my darling friend Val and 2) it was so cute and fluffy and daisuga and just asdfghjkdhsh

That also being said, I have high hopes for this iwaoi fic so maybe if I end up writing and finishing it, maybe it'll be my actual favourite lol

hi hi!! I saw your matchups are open and would like to request a haikyuu one please :)

I’m an introvert and have to go a few days without talking to people after prolonged socialising but I'm friendly and have no problem talking to strangers. My hobbies include gym, playing volleyball, and sleeping. I’m either active or in bed there is no in between lol. In terms of vibe, my friends tell me I have a princessy/bit of an airhead vibe since I dress girly and am a bit slow with jokes (I do study law though). I do my best to tease/banter but I often can't keep up RIP

I'm ambitious (not to be the best but to be respected) and a perfectionist with myself but laid-back when it comes to other matters. I'm usually ambivalent about most things and dont have a strong opinion about anything but when I fixate on something (like volleyball), I have to be GOOD at it and I can get obsessive doing that. I always look at the bright side of things and I love love supporting people in their passions. I don't like conflict but I don't have a problem facing it head on and prefer to talk things out. I'm the type that tends to be friends with both sides of people fighting.

Okay, so I'd match you with Kita Shinsuke from Inarizaki!

This guy is confident, contented, and steadfast. If you want someone who will watch over you and make you feel safe and protected, I don't know that I can think of anyone better than Kita.

You're very passionate, and so is Kita, but Kita's a bit more logical and calculating about it. He's the one making sure you don't push yourself too hard and get injured, stating "if you push too hard, you'll hurt yourself and won't be able to continue working toward your goals," a train of thought that is equally logical and frustrating regardless. He balances out your obsessive nature and helps rein it in.

He'll surprise you at times, with how well he can banter. You wouldn't expect it, with how dry-humored he is, but he's rather charming when he wants to be, in a sweet, steadfast kind of way that makes you feel warm and cozy and safe whenever you're with him.

You two would support each other at every turn, and he'd always be a gentleman, making sure you're protected and safe whenever he has a say in the matter. He adores you, and never wants to risk seeing you hurt - however, if you say you need to do something, despite the risk, he'll stand aside and do his best to support you and minimize the risk at your side.

Conflict? What's that? Kita has the Suna and the Miya brothers and all of the team reined in and on their best behavior whenever you come around during their practices, his disciplined nature and calm energy naturally settling over the entire team, at least partly because they all know he's going to scold them if they upset you. He doesn't tolerate that from anyone, least of all his teammates.

If you need time to yourself, Kita is happy to give it to you, whether you need a few days alone, or if you want to just vibe parallelly in the same space without direct interaction. He'll gladly watch volleyball match tapes and study them or reading or whatever while you do whatever you want to do. Y'all can hang out without socializing, or he can mind himself while you recover, whatever you prefer he's happy to oblige.

20 Q's for Fic Writers

I don't think @oloreandil meant to tag me but I'm doing it anyway!

1 - How many works do you have on ao3?

215. I had a huge head start when I did one ficlet a day in 2015, but not all 365 of those made it onto Ao3 (and a few of them were chapters added to other fics.

2 - What's your total ao3 word count?

1,022,445. I'm so sad I didn't even notice when I went over a million on there! But upon checking it looks like it was during my posting for the HQ Monsterlovers Big Bang, so that's not surprising.

3 - What fandoms do you write for?

I mainly write for Haikyuu!!, but I started with Free!. I've also written for the MCU once or twice and VLD once, but I think there's only one of those ones on Ao3.

4 - What are your top five fics by kudos?

Fool's Gold, Curiosity Killed the Cat (and Satisfaction Brought it Back) , both of which surprised me, Growing Old in Mediocrity, which I seriously thought would be number one, Those Who Wander, and Brave.

5 - Do you respond to comments?

Honestly, no. I feel bad about it and I hate it, but I don't do it. I get so anxious that I'm going to somehow offend someone, or about what I'm going to say, and just. Ugh.

6 - What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Four Christmases That Totally Sucked (And One That Kind of Didn't) is the only fic I have left up that's just straight angst. I have a lot of hurt/comfort, but pretty much everything I write has a happy ending in one form or another. There is one other fic that exists only if you know where to find it here on tumblr that I deleted all the links to because I got literal death threats over the sad ending and I'm not playing that game with y'all.

7 - What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

This one depends on your definition of happy ending. Like I said pretty much all of my fics have a happy ending because of who I am as a person, but some of them require more work to get to than others. the best revenge (you are a life well lived) is by far the one that fits this question the best. Not only did the characters have to work hard for that happy ending, but I did too. To this day when I'm feeling trapped in a PTSD spiral, I can often point at that fic to remind myself that there is a way out, and that there is a life beyond the lowest point. Those few of you who know just how much I was going through leading up to posting this fic, including the night of posting it, y'all know exactly how much that means to me.

8 - Do you get hate on fics?

I have, but not in a long time. The thing is, I'm kind of an oblivious moron, sitting happily in my little corner of the sandbox and making the blorbos kiss. I do know there had been hate about me that I never even noticed, but the only hate I actually saw was back in 2015, so I'm glad about that.

9 - Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I have been told I write the fluffiest smut on the face of the planet, which is hilarious considering that most of what I write is also pretty kinky. I've been in the sex industry in one form or another for a few years now, mostly on the retail side, and I know some crazy shit, and it's kind of a special interest now. So erotica and smut are my bread and butter, but even when there are chains and whips and chastity devices, there's also a lot of love and aftercare and fluffy, schmoopy, cuddly grossness.

10 - Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

Crossovers just kind of... pop out of me. None of them are crazy imo... most of them are Haikyuu!! and Free!, though I'm pretty sure there have been some knb kids as well.

11 - Have you ever had a fic stolen?

It was the funniest thing, my longest fic, the one I'm most proud of, was snatched and put up on Amazon for sale. It was a huge thing, so I wasn't the only author scraped, but let me tell you seeing my gay anime magic au fanfiction sold as an actual book with no changes to even the title or the description or character names still gives me a bit of a giggle.

12 - What's the longest you've spent working on one fic? And the shortest?

the best revenge objectively shouldn't have taken me over two years to write, but when you factor in all the life shit that happened to produce that fic, yes it should have. Prior to that, I spent 10 months or so writing The Anatomy of an Eternity and I'm so proud of how it turned out and have spent the last, oh god, six years chasing that high.

13 - Have you ever co-written a fic before?

One time a co-written fic just fell out of @ezzydean and I like an egg we didn't realize we were laying. Just. Plop! Ezzy re-formatted our chat log into jagged pieces and Feathers on the windowsill and to this day I don't know how it happened.

14 - What's your all-time favorite ship? From all fandoms?

I feel like it's unfair to say SakuAtsu considering I have posted exactly one (1) fic of them, but y'all have no idea how badly these to assholes have taken over my life. I had to give them their own section in my 4thewords writing organization. I hate them so much someone stop them.

15 - What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

There's a running joke that's not actually a joke about "the fanfic I will never publish". It's currently over 100k long and I doubt it'll ever see the light of day. I would also like to finish How Many Crows Does it Take to Screw In a Lightbulb but I don't know if I can finish it as is or if I need to tear it down and start all over since the timeskip.

16 - What are your writing strengths?

I've been told my characterization is gold, and I'm not discounting that. I think that I'm also just really good at Putting Dudes Into Situations. Since I am, as mentioned, sitting in a sandbox and making the blorbos kiss, that's really what writing fic is to me. I just wanna see what happens to these characters if I stick them in different combinations. I wanna see if they maintain the same basic form when they're not playing volleyball, but are instead navigating the faerie court, or in a magic college, or sailing on pirate ships. How much does environment change who we are and how much is it intrinsic to ourselves?

17 - What are your writing weaknesses?

Shiny Object Syndrome. I see a fun new AU and I have to physically restrain myself from chasing it down a rabbit hole and ignoring the sixteen other projects I have going on.

18 - Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

Since I'm an Anglophone I don't know how much of a leg I have to stand on in this question. That said, I do believe there are certain things that can't be expressed outside of their native language. That said, I don't think it's my place as a white USAmerican to try and tell stories about what it's like to be xyz other race/culture/experience that I simply don't have access to. I do use Japanese terms in-prose for certain things. Genkan and Engawa are the most prominent things I can think of, since most English-speaking cultures don't really have equivalents in our own homes. Lines of dialog in other cultures are an interesting thing that I tend to avoid specifically because I don't know how to do it well in most of the languages that would make sense for what I'm writing (I speak enough Spanish to pass for a precocious pre-schooler, and I have a decent amount of Latin and Irish under my belt, but none of those really have a chance to come up in what I write, unfortunately).

19 - First fandom you wrote for?

Free!. The very first ficlet posted on this tumblr account was written January 1, 2015, and it was the very first piece of fanfic I ever wrote. Because I'm insane like that.

20 - Favourite fic you've written?

I love most of my children equally. That said, the best revenge (you are a life well lived), The Anatomy of an Eternity, and Rowan Berries, Iron, and Other School Supplies all have a very special place in my heart.

Mentioned in my last post (two weeks ago) that I was ill (I posted that on the worst day of the illness and then didn't go to class the next day, so), but I'm happy to report that I've pretty much recovered aside from this goddamn cough. But anyway, I've been watching more Haikyuu since then (I'll be watching at least episode 14 today), so I came to talk about it!

Just looking at my document, I get the feeling that I'm going to be putting a lot of screenshots in here, so I'm going to put a cut here and then continue with my ramblings.

Okay, so the Date Tech practice game was really fun. I think I gushed a bunch about Date Tech in my last post, so I'll mostly shut up about them. But I love Date Tech, just in case you didn't know. I'd but my rankings of my favorite schools but that seems like a good way to start a fight (not really, y'all seem pretty nice). But they are in my top five schools! ANYWAY. Date Tech looked great in the practice match. Like, I'd love to see them play more, but we unfortunately don't get to. They're gonna be crazy good next year and we just don't get to see it. I'VE BEEN ROBBED. I could also sit here and sing Aone's praises because he's just so good at blocking. I love this man. I need to be his friend. I'm still thinking about the little character sheet that said his concern right now is that people are too afraid to sit next to him on the bus and I was like "NO I'LL SIT NEXT TO YOU AONE. DO YOU WANT TO SEE PICTURES OF MY DOGS? I'LL SHOW YOU THEM AND BE YOUR FRIEND." Also I got excited about how cute it was that Koganegawa was so excited about seeing Kageyama and Hinata's quick and HE GOT TO SEE IT. THEY'RE SO GOOD AT THAT NOW.

“Don’t interrupt me, Tadashi.” I will never get over him calling Yamaguchi “Tadashi” now that I know how meaningful it is. I organized my Pinterest board of Haikyuu art and no one is surprised that the folder with Tsukkiyama stuff has the most pins of anything. Followed by Asanoya, in case you were curious.

Love it when they cut and we've skipped over an entire set (which makes sense), but then they cut it in this episode and I was like THE FUCK YOU MEAN THEY PLAYED EIGHT SETS??? HOW THE HELL ARE YOU ALL NOT DEAD ON THE GROUND??

Honestly I'm glad to see that we're finally acknowledging another one of the second years apart from Tanaka, Nishinoya, and Ennoshita. Still haven't memorized these two's names. But I'm like 90% sure the one we're getting a focus on is Kinoshita. We have another anxiety boy and I just love that for him. But he can serve! Sorta! Good that we have another pretty good server other than Yamayamayamaguchi.

Do not remember the context of this because it's been like a week but please enjoy this screaming: THEY SHUT MY BOYFRIEND DOWN OH DAMN. THERE HE GOES. AZUMANE ASAHI MARRY ME. Babygirl just won us the fucking set!!!

Oh by the way I learned some of the characters' birthdays and HAPPY BIRTHDAY ASAHI ON THIS DAY IN THE SHOW! And yesterday was Daichi's! Back to back. They were made to be friends.

I love the third years so much. I consistently gush about the third years but I really do love them. All the third years in this show (all the characters, lets be honest) are just great. I love how Daichi and Suga bully Asahi but, like, you know they actually love and care about him (the three of them have literally been friends all three years of high school and have all this volleyball-centric history). And I also love how they include Kiyoko in things. I tend to think of them as a trio but Kiyoko is important too. Speaking of-

I love these dorks, they are my favorite men ever to not exist. You can put me in a broken down elevator with them and I'd feel completely safe (that can be said for most Haikyuu men tbh).

I love when Daichi acts like a dad. Dadchi coming out in full force as he shoves his four problem children away from the gym.

AND HERE WE GO EVERYONE TIME FOR NATIONALS. So glad they finally got to see the sky tree lmao

LOVE THAT UKAI HAD A VIDEO MADE FOR THEM TO SHOW THEIR BEST PLAYS AND HYPE THEM UP. Everyone looks so cool. I'm so proud of them.

Alright, I'm gonna talk about Asahi again (take a shot every time I talk/gush about Asahi). Unironically, Asahi looks way more attractive in this new style just by having his bun behind his head instead of on top of it. I still don't know why they changed it between season 3 and 4. Also, not regarding Asahi, LOOK AT NISHINOYA AND HINATA'S HAIR IT'S SO TALL I'M LAUGHING MY ASS OFF

Do I know that Tsukki only has his arms like this because of the bike handles? Yes I do. Am I still gonna look at it and giggle “haha gay” followed by “t-Rex arms”? Also yes

I didn't know what was going to come of the bath scene between Kiyoko and Yachi but it was genuinely really sweet? When Kiyoko was opening up about the scars on her legs and Yachi said “So your scars are badges of honor!” It was just so cute. I love Yachi. And honestly, season 4 and it's exploration of Kiyoko has made me finally really love her too!

KANOKA IS A FUCKING C U T I E OKAY? I'M WELL AWARE THAT TANAKA ENDS UP MARRIED TO KIYOKO BUT IT WOULD'VE BEEN HELLA CUTE IF HE DATED KANOKA. If I may skip ahead a few episodes to gush about her, she's just so cute and so sweet. Obviously she catches Nishinoya and makes sure he's okay, but then her also congratulating Tanaka on Karasuno's win and then when she's talking to him later. WHEN SHE SAID HER HEART HAD BEEN BROKEN I FELT SO BAD FOR HER. GIRL I THINK YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL AND WONDERFUL AND YOU DESERVE THE WORLD ACTUALLY. The relationship and history between her and Tanaka is really cute too. Like, how can i NOT support a relationship between them? Anyway, I just love Kanoka. She has such a small part in the story but she's just lovely.

I have nothing to say except that Hinata using Natsu's bag for his shoes is like. Unexplainably cute.

WE GOT KIYOKO FLASHBACKS AND BACKSTORY. When I realized she got injured and had to quit, I felt so bad for her. I'm really glad Daichi asked her to join the volleyball club and be their manager. She really seemed to need the distraction.

Love how it's always Karasuno struggling to adjust to new situations. Took them how many points before they were comfortable? Took Kageyama a while. Speaking of Kageyama, I loved that look into his head and how he sort of views everything during a game. Visuals went crazy. This whole match wasn't anything totally crazy, but we got to see the team do some new stuff. Like Nishinoya doing a really great overhand receive, and Hinata attempting to receive the ball (and failing but with success). I loved that we got to see the third years' old upperclassmen come back and support them! Also, Tanaka flashback and he has hair! What a delightful little chaos gremlin.

Some bits from my google doc: “He’s really grown into his own and not just his beautiful hair either” (talking about Asahi) sir idk who you are but I love you. I was about to be like “MURDER THEM KAGEYAMA” and then he hit the ball into the net god bless “I believe this will be his first official match” oh bless him. Good luck little dude -> Which, by the way. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone serve underhanded in the entire show so far? Huh. I'm assume it must not be as common (which I guess makes sense because you can put more power behind an overhand serve?) Ceiling serves are this guy’s only weapon and it’s working. Fucked up Daichi, fucked up Daichi AND Asahi. What next? The way I wanted to scream “whore!” when that guy put it past Tsukki and co That was a great rally!! And Asahi bringing it home like the ace he is!

We opened the next episode on a strong point because we opened with Bokuto and Bokuto delights me

Loved the confrontation between Hoshiumi and Hinata. Couldn't remember Hoshiumi's name half the time so I kept calling him "birdy" in my head (you can't tell me his eyes don't look just like bird eyes). They fr just had a staring contest without knowing each other. Hinata lied about being a centimeter than he is (baby that centimeter will not help you). They just have a funny little dynamic even though they just met.

Hoshiumi is a really impressive player, btw! His jumps are wildly impressive

Miya Atsumu x gn!reader

Summary: Atsumu thinks about his life as a father during a quiet night of him caring for his newborn daughter.

A/N: This was another spur of the moment thing, so there's not much revision or proofreading, I just felt like writing something about getting sentimental over watching a child grow up lol.

The role of a father is a significant one Atsumu hadn't pegged himself to be the right one for, let alone ready to take on, but he was always fond of kids in spite of that.

He'd be the world's biggest liar for ever insinuating that he's never thought about having children of his own down the road to adulthood, and those thoughts swelled over the years he'd spent with you. You and him had busy lives at the start of your relationship however, rarely home for 3 days straight or capable of spending those off days together in their entirety. That was just how your lives were going 5 years ago, too focused on nurturing your personal lives, as well as your shared life, to consider bringing another into the equation in the near future.

That was 5 years ago.

The faux blonde now finds himself standing bleary eyed at 4:36 am, cradling a baby girl hardly any bigger than your standard American football, and humming Baby Beluga in the muted ambiance of the bedroom. Atsumu still feels a great sense of awe 3 weeks after the birth of this miniature human being, an arduous process that still incites a familiar burn of his nose and gets him choked up on his own tears as he thinks back to it. He's not ashamed to admit how emotional he gets over her, you have the tendency to get just as sentimental as him. Speaking of you, you're still asleep and blissfully unaware of the heartwarming scene behind you, courtesy of him carefully springing out of the bed the moment the newborn stirred in her sleep.

Would ya look at that, he thought to himself with a satisfied smile upon observing the state of sleep she'd fallen back into. As small as the pacifier is, the item manages to dwarf her small head, greatly multiplying her cuteness as he gently places her in her crib. His body screams at him to lay down himself, to weld you to his side after pulling you closer by your waist, and slip into a deep slumber while listening to the baby's quickened yet relaxed breaths just a foot or two away from the bed.

His heart however, the organ that performs all manner of acrobatics for the child in front of him, tugs at him to lean on the railing and watch over her. You and Osamu always have a penchant for telling him he listens to his heart a lot, but he never looked at it as a flaw. That is how he found you, the love of his life.

As he looms over the crib, he whispers under his breath, "I wonder what yer first word's gonna be." It's a bit of a farfetched belief, he knows this, babies often say words without really knowing what they're saying is a word. But he can't wait to hear her squeaky voice formulating garbled words that are halfway comprehensible to him, yelling at him for not picking her up when both his arms are full of something that isn't her. He's looking forward to seeing her learn how to roll around, watching her pull herself across the bed in an attempt to crawl, and especially supporting her by her hands as she exudes jollity from her first taste of standing.

He reels his excitement back in though, knowing that this stage she's at right now is ephemeral, and he'll miss these days when they go by with no plan to ever come back.

And that's okay, he could hear you in his head reassuring him of his concerns. He'll be a loving father towards her for as long as he's living, lamenting the days lost to memory but preparing for the days to come in the future. Days of him crying with her when she gets hurt, feeling replaced when she learns to love someone aside from her own parents for the first time in her life, and days when the sense of individuality starts to hit her.

He's not ready to lose her to the world.

I'm getting ahead of myself, he admitted as he rub at his glazed over eyes. The tears built up in his eyes aren't ones of sorrow (maybe a little bit), they're more so happy than anything else. Happy that's he's going to love and cherish 2 people in his life, grow so attached to them that he's left feeling like a lost puppy without them, and be with them throughout the development of this little family he calls his own.

"Tsumu?"

He finally snapped his attention from his daughter (he'll never get tired of saying that) to see you turned over in bed, rubbing your eyes and peeking at him through the semi-darkness of the bedroom.

"'m coming back." With one last look at the crib, as well as a whispered "I love you", he drags himself away to find his rightful spot beside you.

"Is she okay?" You asked with your sleep ridden voice as you sit up, wondering if she woke up hungry or in need of changing.

He pulled you back down to bed with a grateful smile to answer, "She's fine, just needed some rocking."

The response seemed satisfactory enough to you, evident when it took you no time at all to fall back asleep in Atsumu's warm embrace. You don't appear to feel him squeezing you the slightest hint more right now in thanks, but he thinks that's okay, he's been thanking you since the day you both found out about the pregnancy. And he'll keep thanking you for promising to remain with him for the rest of his life, to raise a child with him, and love her with all your heart.

And he'll thank that child for being his daughter, because there's truly no greater joy to behold than being a father to a baby as beautiful as her, and being blessed with the opportunity to care for her as his own.

Sure, he may not have initially thought he'd be rightfully prepared for his role or be the right one for it, but he wanted it nonetheless.

It's a role he could never trade for anything else.

you know how we all joke about Tsukishima connecting Yamaguchi’s freckles like a constellation on his skin? imagine that. imagine how that would actually be such a soft, quiet moment. something shared and sacred. imagine Tsukki lying on Yamaguchi’s back as they watch a movie together in Tsukki’s basement. it’s hot out today, so Yamaguchi is shirtless. imagine how, sure Tsukki is tall and big and always defended Yamaguchi as kids, but Yamaguchi is actually pretty broad-shouldered, pretty strong. his back is wide and his skin is smooth beneath Tsukki’s chin. he turns his face and lets his cheek rest against Yamaguchi’s back, and he can feel the heat of Tadashi��s body, can feel the steady, strong pulsing of his heart. imagine Tsukki using Yamaguchi’s eyeliner, lazily drawing little constellations and pictures on and between and with the freckles that litter Yamaguchi’s back like stardust. imagine the quiet peace between them. imagine the hum of the box fan in the window, the chirping of birds in the trees outside, the occasional buzz of cicadas as they roast in the summer heat. imagine these two boys, so tender and soft with each other, spending an afternoon together. Yamaguchi turns underneath Tsukki, and Tsukishma gripes and complains, but he feels a thrill in his fingers and arms as all that beautiful skin rubs against him, as those broad shoulders press into him, as Yamaguchi leans up and wraps his arms around Tsukki’s neck, smiling and giggling quietly to him, only to him, and then they kiss.

Srsly I miss haikyuu so much, It was and will always be really important to me and never fails to make me smile, I appreciate this chapter from the bottom of my heart!!
