"i was told it's your birthday, kagami." a smirk came to atobe's lips, he had come prepared with an expensive gift. not like he'd go ahead and give him something cheap, that wasn't like him at all. one was a tiger blanket with his name embroided and a full day spa treatment at one of the most expensive places in the city.

Taiga looked at the soft tiger blanket.

But surprise quickly turns into joy, and Tooru eagerly jumps out to embrace Atobe, his grin stretching from ear to ear. “But thank you !!” Tooru gives his kouhai a light squeeze before pulling back to accept the gift bag. Brown hues immediately catch sight of the white and teal volleyball, and he pulls it out with great excitement. “Atobe-chan...! This is...” Really, this boy never fails to surprise him. Tooru's heart swells with warmth as he admires the personalized volleyball, touched by his friend's thoughtfulness. "It's wonderful. This really reminds me of home." He cradles the volleyball like a precious treasure, smiling softly. Tucking it under his arm, Tooru pulls out the next gift. "Oh, wow ! I've never had a perfume like this before." He sprays a little on his wrist, bringing it up to his nose for a sniff. It’s a pleasant scent that reminds him of what Atobe usually wears. “This is really nice, I’ll definitely wear it~!”

“Thank you for the gifts, Atobe-chan ! And for coming here today. I’m really happy~~” Tooru carefully places the gifts back into the bag and reaches out to take Atobe’s hand, beaming. “My team and I are planning to celebrate my birthday later this evening. Will you come ?? They'd be thrilled to meet you, Atobe-chan~!"

It was a special day for someone important to him, atobe inviting tezuka to meet him in the shopping district, a smirk upon his face as soon as he saw his rival appear. "I'm glad you had time for me," a chuckle before heading off, leading the way to their destination.

Soon enough, coming to a halt for him to see an infamous restaurant, five stars and empty. "Let's go," A confident smile while heading inside with him, taking his seat before a click of his fingers. "I've bought the restaurant out just for today," well, mostly for their time together. "Your first dish," the waiter said as he presented two large bowls of unacha, his favourite dish. "happy birthday, tezuka~" A good surprise, no? Well, he had a lot more in store for him.

Dressed simple yet smart in a dark collared shirt and cargo shorts, Tezuka hadn't expected his rival to do anything for the day, but then again, this was Atobe after all. "I have time for anyone, my team, and you, should the situation be keen, you had me intrigued at this gift for my birthday."

'A five-star place huh?'' The other spared no expense for Tezuka, and it made the man smile, pushing his glasses up on his nose before following Atobe inside. The whole place -- yes that was just like him, but Tezuka was thankful for the quiet it provided.

Seating himself and draping his napkin over his lap, his hands rested in his lap as he awaited the meal. When the unacha was placed before him, Tezuka sighed softly, Atobe didn't call him a rival for nothing, deeply knowing of the others favorite things, food was no exception.

He smiled and glance at Atobe before picking up his teapot to pour the hot green tea over the contents of the bowl, savoring the smell that arose. "Thank you, Atobe." With a close of his eyes and a mumble of "itadakimasu~" He picked up the bowl and tucked in.

     It took quite a bit of research, really. After all, what do you give to someone who already has everything? First, Alice racked her brain on her own for days to no avail. Next, she tried keeping an ear out for the fanclub members, who’d been buzzing with activity considering the magnitude of the event. Lastly, she finally stopped by the tennis club. Asking Kabaji-san did feel a little bit like cheating, but she couldn’t bring herself to fully trust whatever Oshitari-san might have come up with.

Learning what Atobe-san’s favorite dish was made her smile. For such a simple hearty meal to be his favorite when he could literally have anything in the world at anytime. And also because it reminded her of her second home as well. In the end, making his gifts was an absolute joy, and she was proud of how they’d turned out.

Surely, he would be extra busy on his birthday, but he still showed up to the student council meeting - early, as always - despite everyone having reassured him it’d be fine for him to take a break for once. “Atobe-san.” Greeting him with a smile and a polite bow, she brought over a laquered bento box holding a number of mini yorkshire puddings stuffed with roast beef. “Happy birthday!”

Atobe’s gifts were getting grander and grander each year. Last year’s birthday gift, the Oikawa gym, is doing exceptionally well. They’re more than comfortable now, and Tooru doesn’t have to worry about expenses while staying overseas in Argentina. This year, Tooru had repeatedly insisted that he didn’t need anything for his birthday, that everything Atobe had given him is more than anything he could ever ask for. But of course, his adorable kouhai is stubborn.

Opening the door to see Atobe’s smirking face, Tooru frowns and places his hands on his hips. “Atobe-chan, what did I say before ?? No more expensive gifts !” He huffs but takes the bag anyways, because he knows Atobe wouldn’t have it otherwise. His stern expression eventually softens as he looks inside, pulling out the certificate. His heart twinges and his lower lip wobbles. Just a bit. “...I swear Atobe-chan just wants to make Oikawa-san cry every year.” He blinks away the wetness and grins. “But not this year !! Come here.” Tooru leans in to give the younger a small peck to the cheek, to show his affection and gratefulness.

“Thank you for yet another amazing gift. Now I’m just itching to play a game, heheh~”
