Just finished my rewatch of the finale but as I was resetting the episode on iPlayer, the subtitle from the scene didn't go away (this sorry is the reply to Arthur's "I trusted you.")

And boy, does this feel like, with the black screen and all, the episode itself saying sorry for the heartbreak yet to come, and yet entirely known.

I love it, I hate it, but it's perfect.

when i was 10 or so i made my mom watch the merlin finale with me because i LOVED the show & i knew people would die but i was so sure it would end well… when arthur died i sobbed so hard & so inconsolably that the only way she could calm me down was opening imdb & systematically going through each actor to make fun of their careers

Still can’t get over Arthur’s death scene no matter how many times I rewatch. It was such a beautifully drawn tragedy despite all the nonsense that had led up to that moment. The music, the visual effects, the acting… All collaborated to break our hearts.

Bradley’s dying acting and Colin’s grieved expression were already too real and heart-wrenching, they had to let Arthur open his eyes one last time with Merlin’s calling, just to shatter our tiny hope the next second. It was so devastating. That little hopeful look on Merlin’s face…

Also Bradley’s dead face was too real I feel like sobbing just looking at it…
