Bowling for Soup with Simple Plan and Not Ur Girlfrenz, O2 Academy Birmingham (12/02/2020)

AKA An unexpectedly emotional journey.

SIMPLE PLAN

It's been a while since I waited from the morning hours for the show. But it was for Simple Plan. Seemed like a natural thing to do (apparently only to me and few others, normal people showed up in the late afternoon). There was a little reward in becoming frost itself (Birmingham was sunny but icy teeth showing with nasty wind getting into your bones): Seb chilled at the same coffee shop as I did (though I wouldn't call myself chill at that point, must have shown when my steps became hesitant as my eyes and brain connected the facts as I walked in, but damn I really like the coffee from Quarter Horse so why skip it? And the spicy roasted tomato and pepper soup was exactly the right thing to warm me up in the day like that). Oh, it wasn't the end of it (don't worry – I let him be, not the time nor space to bother him): I passed Pierre on my way back to the venue (one lousy 'Hi!' was all I could do at the moment, typical me). Jeff, Seb and Chuck passed the queue couple of times. Chuck asked how we were, the answer was: 'frozen' and then I noticed, too late too ask, book under his arm,   oh how curious I was to know the title. Little things, I know, but big difference.

It made it all more exciting. It's not like it wasn't already. Starting with David back onstage with the guys (to end with the fact that they always deliver top class show). Something to be emotional about too. And not only that. It must have caught me in the strange time. I know those songs, they always meant a lot.   But I don't recall hitting the whiny note for a while. I thought maybe 'Perfect' would make me go soft, as it always does. But it was okay, I was prepared – it would be the end of their set. But my stupid brain had different plans and as soon as 'Jump' started my eyes watered. Every single line was a punch in the gut and I fought hard to keep tears at bay hating myself for getting so emotional. It didn't help that 'Welcome to My Life' followed. Luckily 'Shut Up' broke the spell and the rest of way too short show went by without more hiccups. With 'Boom!' being another uplifting and cheerful singalong and 'What's New Scooby Doo' being rather odd position on the setlist. But definitely entertaining. 'Where I Belong' – the newest addition to Simple Plan's catalogue (and a collab with We the Kings' and State Champs' singers) continued its test run before Canadians release new album. I'd call it rather successful. The song's filled with strong emphasis on the sense of belonging – the common motiv in Simple Plan's lyrics. It fits perfectly, sounds great live and it's great to sing along. Beach balls and summer vibes took audience far away from frosty English weather and for a short while it was a 'Summer Paradise'. 'Addicted' was all about perfect opportunity to say 'dick' [on TV; although in UK it seems that anything goes, no beeps, no delays like in States]. Singing 'I'm Just a Kid' was bittersweet, or rather 'funnysad'. I'm not a kid anymore, but still some things speak to me volumes after all these years. Plus there are more kids to come to have the song resonate within them.

As I said before I thought that 'Perfect' would cause me an emotional meltdown, a long time ago I put on the wall all the lyrics that influenced me/touched me/were more than relevant. 'Perfect' was one of the first ones I put there. Various reasons. It must have been the other songs that softened the blow, 'cause I immersed in the song but without anything dramatic (like bawling my eyes out). All in all I was just happy to be there, to have the chance to see Simple Plan again. To feel alive for a little while. To belong. The little chat after the show with Seb was a cherry on top, proving that they just don't change (good thing, I promise), showing that Canadians' sarcasm is on of the best things ever.

It went something like that:

Seb [to a small crowd of people waiting outside the tourbuses]: Oh, you're here waiting in front of our house... [walked by to the awkward silence that fell after]

some time after that, less people around, he's back, beer bottle in his hand

me [after regular plesantries like 'how are you']: Sorry for waiting in front of the tourbus like that, we didn't really think about of it that way...

Seb: oh, yeah, that's alright. I like to make things awkward. [then something about him being sarcastic/using sarcasm/and being Canadian, which frankly is often the case when you talk to him].*

*Obviously way funnier when it happened.

NOT UR GIRLFRENZ

Girl trio from Dallas, Texas, may I add – very young, absolutely kicked ass as an opening act. Took some guts to take on My Chemical Romance's 'I'm not Okay', I must say at first I wasn't sure if what I was hearing was what I thought it was, then I wasn't sure how I felt about it and then I dived in seeing they were brilliant. There was fire and the crowd eagerly joined in. If it wasn't enough they decided to spice things up and Spice Girls' 'Wannabe' was rocking the place soon after. Bold choices. And girls owned it. With Powerpuff Girls as their spirit animals, intro and decor the power is definitely strong with them. With songs like 'No One Asked You Anyway' they showed they have right attitude to run the world and pop punk scene.

BOWLING FOR SOUP

There were vagina jokes, loads of fart jokes, jokes competition with audience's applause as a measure of success. But there was a very serious part about self acceptance, talking about mental health problems (especially men talking about their struggles). There was a moment to help fainting girl in the crowd. It was surely a lot of things, definitely entertaining. Walking the fine line between hilarious and obnoxious. Lively crowd happily participated in games (aforementioned jokes competition), 'booing' other cities in UK and cheering every time 'Birmingham' was mentioned. Explosive set (quite literally with fireworks blasking at the front of the stage), there were times I didn't have foggiest idea what was happening (as the band or when the fog was all over the stage and their crew member had to control it by holding part of the equipement box over it to guide it the right way so it stayed low and thick as in those 90s  rock videos (power ballads vibe to be more exact). There was a bartender serving drinks onstage to ones who bought VIP packages (and to the band), there was a cello ('Did you know there's no 'h' in cello?' singer asked the crowd). Definitely not a boring show. Yet it seemed to me, even though people were into it and quite responsie, it wasn't till the few last songs that the volume of the crowds singalongs and cheering jumped up to higher levels. Nonetheless it was a night to remember.

Louis could also detect the dark outlines of tattoos on his chest, although he couldn’t quite make out what they were underneath the shirt. What he could make out was that his own heartrate seemed to have picked up significantly. Shit. This was so not good. Not only had Louis drunkenly sent messages in a deliberate attempt to interact with this man, he was now insanely attracted to him without ever having met him in person. Maybe Liam was right – drunk tweeting really was a horrible, rotten idea. A famous/non-famous AU in which Louis banters back and forth with his new record company on Twitter, only to find out that Harry is the man behind the tweets.

Welcome to “8 Questions with…..”

In doing this series and especially of late,I have been really blessed to be able to talk to a lot artists that I have on a “wish list”. These are people whom I really want to talk with but I don’t think I’ll get a chance to. Ashley Kate Adams was on the list. I first was introduced to Ashley Kate and her talent when the cheetah and I watched a excellent film called “1 Message“. Its a story about a young woman who gets breast cancer amd who is slowly falling into a deep depression. When the young woman meets a man online while tracking down her family tree,the connection changes her life on so many levels. This is a movie that I loved quite a bit and I thought Ashley Kate Adams did a great job in what I found later was her feature film debut and she was only 21 when she filmed it. Since then I have been following her career and chatting once in a while on Twitter. Last week I decided to take a chance and ask Ashley Kate for a interview and to my surprise answered “Yes,I do” within 5 minutes. While we were talking,I asked about her new big project,”Boy Hero” which is set during the 1954 Senate Comic Book Hearings and where publisher Williams Gaines and his legendary EC Comics were grilled because of the content.  It was also during the height of McCarthyism and the Hollywood blacklisting,a dark and despairing time (as well as a forgotten period). As soon as we as a society are allowed ,Ashley Kate is kicking “Boy Hero” into high gear and we’ll be posting updates on how the film is progressing. * As you can see,Ashley Kate is a woman on the go,go,go!!  I am so happy that we got a chance to catch her in mid-stride so she could slow down enough to answer her 8 Questions…….

Please introduce yourself and tell us about your latest project?

Hello! My name is Ashley Kate Adams & I am an actress, producer & writer living in NYC! Right now we are so excited to be introducing Frankie! The Musical Cast Concept Album to the world. It releases this Friday, May 29th, on Broadway Records and will be available everywhere music can be streamed. Frankie! The Musical (@frankiemusical) is written by 16-year old Composer and light, Elise Marra. The album is produced by AKA Studio Productions & Mitchell Walker!     Our other main project is “Boy Hero”, a feature film inspired by the Comic Book Trials of 1954. I wrote the 1950’s period film which was inspired by a panel I saw called “When the American Librarian Saved Comics” by Carol Tilley. The film is rounding out development and will be Produced by AKA Studio Productions, Pigasus Pictures & AR Productions and will film in Cincinnati! How have you been coping with Covid-19 pandemic? How are you staying creative and focused?

   I have been thinking a lot about this recently. I’ve been coping with Covid-19 productively. I think many things prepared me for this, the main being thing being the sudden loss of my father in 2016 to cancer. During that time I had to learn to balance many things in conjunction with being completely gutted out with grief. During that time I turned to creating to heal myself and process my emotions so during this pandemic I have followed suit. I’ve actually been working at home with my production company since 2011 so that routine feels like a continuation. We were very lucky, we had just gotten many incredible projects like Frankie! in the can before it felt as if the world froze. Now these projects are able to bring joy to others during this time. On Friday’s I’ve been going LIVE with #BYOP to lead conversations on Grief & Productivity for the Creative @ashleykateadams on Instagram. It’s been important for me to try to help folks navigate this time! 

 When did you first catch the acting bug and what was the reaction like with your family and friends?

I don’t know if I ever caught the acting bug I was kind of just born into the industry. It is what our family does as our family business. You know some families might have a restaurant or a heating & cooling company, we are performers. My parents, who also majored in musical theatre in college (that’s how they met) were VERY honest with me about how hard my future was going to be to move to NYC and pursue this full-time but they knew it was what I was called to do. And I got to make space here for my sister 10 years my junior, Audrey Belle Adams, who recently began her adult career also based out of New York City. 

 How did you land the lead role in your first feature film “1 Message”? What three things did you take with you from the experience? How important is faith to you?

I actually landed my role in “1 Message” thanks to my father. He pitched me at a dinner meeting where the director happened to be. I then auditioned and got the role. That film taught me a lot. The first was that leading a film and being on camera 14 hours a day, 6 days a week is an extremely challenging job. Which leads me to the second thing, I learned how to treat actors on set. The “1 Message” experience is one that seeded in me the need to become an independent film producer to make sure I was always taking care of my actors in an extremely supportive way. Environment, transparency & discernment are everything on a project. The third thing I learned was how strong and aware I was even at a younger age on set. Faith is important to me. It is important to me to believe in something much bigger than yourself.

   Which do you like more? Doing TV/film work or live theater and why?

I love both equally but for different reasons. Right now I am very much falling deeper in love with film. I love learning and because I was raised literally at a theatre, in film there is still so much to learn for me. I love each new project on any side. It’s a blast to me navigating each nuance!

 What  have been the three pieces of advice given to you in regards to being a performer?

Wow! Great question. “Your best secret weapon is yourself”. That was taught to me by the head of my musical theatre program at CCM, Aubrey Berg. He was correct. I would say the next is to “Be a kind person who people enjoy working with” from Sandra Rivera of Dancensation Studios and the most recent from this past winter break  to “Keep saying yes to the right things and keep expanding” from one of my high school mentors, the great Gail Benedict.

 What roles challenge you most as an actress and how do you adapt to make the role yours?

Wheeew. For me the biggest challenge of my actor life was doing “A Christmas Carol(e)”, a one- woman show, directed & written by Alex Freeman. It was terrifying because it was only me on stage for 70 minutes. All I could do to survive it was to walk through it and continue to adapt. Every. Single. Second. I had to be truly present without a fourth wall. There was no protection, no sheen. I love hiding behind characters. I revel in it. It allows me space for courage to be more vulnerable. I’m a weirdo, my prep is usually reading, researching and then I adapt my breath and body. Everything else just kinda happens. The magic of acting! 

 How did the idea for #BYOP come about? What makes a good producer in your opinion?

#BYOP (Be Your Own Producer) came from seeing the need for it. As a producer, actor and creative I can only take on so many projects full time at once but #BYOP allows me to be available to you and your project on an hourly basis. It also teaches content creators how to producer so they can become sustainable and independent! During the pandemic it expanded to teaching these intentions in a group digital setting. The brand is continuing to grow and diversify. In development are many exciting new pieces, perhaps something you could listen to and something you can hold. You created a one woman show called “A Christmas Carole” for the theater, where did you come up with the idea and how hard is doing a one person production on a nightly basis?

I helped to create the show but I cannot take credit for the idea or writing on that one, that was my creative partner in crime, Alex Freeman. We put it up in 6 days with the help of our two amazing stage managers. It’s exhausting and exhilarating doing a one person production. I lived like a nun during the day to stay calm and preserve all of my energy for the performances. I still can’t believe I did it! 

 How important are awards to you as a performer?

Awards are not important to me as a performer, but the respect and nod that comes because of them is appreciated. I got my first best actress award in 2018 for Alex Freeman’s two-hander “Love” at the New York Theatre Festival. It’s hard being a woman in the business on every side. Especially as a Producer. So when a group of people decide not only that you  “did well” but that you should be “acknowledged”, that is nice. 

You love to sing,what makes a good song and which three Broadway scores would you love to sing if given a chance? Who is your favorite singer/band at this moment?

I do love to sing! It’s a part of my identity even though I’ve been more internal as of late with my creativity. I would say three Broadway scores I would love to sing through would be “Waitress”, “Sunday in the Park with George” and “The Sound of Music”. My favorite singer is my sister, Audrey Belle Adams @abelleadams, always and forever because she has the most flexible vocal instrument I have ever heard and my favorite band right now is M.N.O.P. @MNOP_music. They have rockin’ folk punk music, a kick butt lead female singer & a really cute drummer : ) 

 How important is self-promotion to you and your career? 

Self-Promotion is a large part of a creative career. In the age of social media & “influencers”, it has to be. I have not always been good at it. I had to learn to produce others to get comfortable producing & promoting myself. 

 What do you like to do on your down time?

In my downtime I like doing yoga, going on walks, listening to true crime podcasts, reading, taking class and spending time with my loved ones. 

 The cheetah and I are flying over to watch to you in “A Christmas Carol(e)” but we are a day early and now you are stuck playing tour guide,what are we doing?

If A Christmas Carol(e) played NYC and there was a day off I would say to spend the morning in Central Park, afternoon around Bryant Park popping into the Strand Book Store & the Bean coffee shop and to spend the evening in the theatre district enjoying an OPEN Broadway. Late evening in the village hopping venues and listening to live music!

  I want to not only thank Ashley Kate for chatting with us but also for being inspired to make “Boy Hero”. I cut my fanboy teeth reading EC Comics growing up. When I read William Gaines bio and found out just how close that comic books were to being banned,it was shocking. Without Gaines and a slew of others,including many librarians fighting this censorship,there would no “Star Wars”,Marvel or DC or many cultural icons we take for granted today.     Like I wrote before,this is a forgotten piece of American history and much respect to Ashley Kate and her production team on making this film to hopefully remind us of what we almost lost.

HAMILTON SUMMARY. BUCKLE UP, KIDDOS. My mom, brother, sister and I had tickets to the matinee. Dan & I had Orchestra Left, row E, and HOLY SHIT, the seats were AMAZING. Here are my thoughts about it all: ACT 1 • The show started, and I literally started crying 5 lines into "Alexander Hamilton" because I was so happy and it seemed so surreal that it was finally happening after almost a year of waiting. •The cast was amazing, but more specifics on that later. One thing that made it super special was just seeing how everything played out and the acting choices. Obviously, things are going to be different than how I imagined them when listening to the soundtrack, but it was just so cool to see it. Like, I didn't know that during "My Shot", they actually take shots. • "The Schuyler Sisters" was fierce as hell, and I'm OBSESSED with those dresses. • Taran Killam was King George, and he was a lot better than I expected, in all honesty. • I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the war songs, like "Right Hand Man", considering they're not my favorite on the album. • Mandy Gonzalez KILLED IT as Angelica. Like, WOW. She made some note changes, for the better, and hearing some high belts amped it up. • And Brandon Victor Dixon as Burr. HOLY SHIT, "Wait For It" was a spiritual experience. • "Guns & Ships" got me hype as all hell • "Yorktown" was PHENOMENAL. The audience cheered so loud after the line, "Immigrants, we get the job done." and there was a lot of cheering at parts throughout that I wasn't expecting, too, but it just made it even better. J.Quinton Johnson was suuuuuch a good Mulligan/Madison. • Jordan Fisher was Laurens/Phillip Hamilton, and he was sososososo good. Definitely one of my favorites. I didn't know about "The Lauren's Interlude", so that hit me straight in the gut. • And then "Nonstop" was beautiful and just a piece of musical theater genius. After that was a 20-ish min intermission. ACT 2 • I enjoyed "What Did I Miss" a lot more in person than I did beforehand. Seeing the choreography really helped that, I think. • I just want to say that ALYSHA DESLORIEUX AS PEGGY/MARIAH STOLE THE FUCKING SHOW IMO. She SLAYED "Say No to This." Ugh. Those vocals. AMAZING. • "The Room Where It Happens" was so much fun to see played out, too, and again, Brandon was AMAZING vocally. • "One Last Time" was the number that got the largest applause afterwards, and rightfully so. Bryan Terrell Clark was a PHENOMENAL Washington. • "The Reynolds Pamphlet" was another one that was really interesting to see in person- a lot of things went on onstage that I didn't expect, like King George throwing papers around, or Maria being onstage during it. • "Hurricane" was really good. Jevon McFerrin is a relatively new Hamilton, and he was sooooo good. A lot of lines he sang more than Lin spoke, but it was a good change. • And now we get to "Burn". Ooohh boy. It's one of my favorite songs in the show, and TBH, I wasn't ridiculously impressed with Lexi Lawson as Eliza thus far. She was good, but nothing extraordinary. "Burn" changed that. Like, hello sobs. The raw emotion she put into it was heart wrenching. • It was all sobs from there on out, TBH. • I lost it again during "Stay Alive (reprise)" and "It's Quiet Uptown". • Afterwards, it was really interesting seeing Burr's struggle, but then of course I got pissed when he killed Alexander. • AND THEN, FINALLY, we got to "Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story?" AKA my favorite song in the show. MORE SOBS. JUST CRYING MY EYES OUT. It was so beautiful and emotional and then at the end Eliza looks out at the audience and gasps because she realized that Alex's story is still getting told and it was just so beautiful. So yeah, this was long as hell, but I needed somewhere to get my immediate thoughts down. I'll probably post more about it as I keep processing it, but this was genuinely one of the best experiences of my life.

The Masked Singer Season 3 Episode 10: It’s Super 9 Time! (April Fools Episode Commentary and Guesses)

Hi my fellow Masked Singer peeps! It’s finally Super 9 time! Nick Cannon has been talking about this for forever and everyone wants to be here... so here we are! Half of the contestants are gone and now we have 9 left (well after this post it’s 8, but you get the picture). So, since I have so many to cover (9 is way harder than 5 or 6 when it comes to detail), I am going to follow a tighter format with me only mentioning the Super Clue and April Fool’s clue after the performance. I will also mention judges’ guesses just bc most of my guesses haven’t changed (except 1, you’ll see). Ok, so let’s get started... 

Disclaimer: There will be a ton of spoilers so don’t read if you haven’t caught up on the show. Don’t tell me I didn’t warn you.

So, how the Super 9 works was that each group (A,B, and C) performs and of the 3 contestants, the ones who were in the bottom 3 were: White Tiger for Group A, Banana for Group B, and Rhino for Group C. 

Of those bottom 3, the one with the least votes who went home/got unmasked was:

White Tiger 

Ya, so is anyone really surprised at this point? His performance was um, ya, um... let’s just say my thought after watching was wtf man. I was a bit uncomfortable and hoping for it to end. He sang “I’m too Sexy” by Right Said Fred and let’s just say it was the strangest (and not in a good way) performance I have ever seen. Having said that, I have known for weeks who he is.... 

So White Tiger was revealed to be... 

ROB GRONKOWSKI (AKA GRONK) 

Super Clue: He was doing the floss dance and shooting a basketball while saying “Swish Swish.” Gronk appeared in Katy Perry’s Swish Swish music video, which also featured the Backpack Kid who popularized the floss dance. April Fools Clue: “I’m just not bronze, I’m brains. I even wrote a best selling book.” Gronk wrote a book called “It’s Good to be Gronk.” 

Judges’ Guesses: 

Jenny and Robin: Rob Gronkowski (they were right yay, thank God, finally the judges got it... well at least some of them) 

Ken: J.J. Watt (sigh... Ken is always wrong... not shocked) 

Nichole: Joe Maginello/John Cena (both wrong... sigh... Nichole is turning into Ken with the terrible guesses) 

Alrighty, now that we are done with that, let’s talk about the remaining 8 contestants in the order they performed:

1. Turtle 

Performance: Omg you guys know how in love I am with the Turtle and I was so happy and excited to see him perform once more, I really want him to win. In this performance, he sang Higher Love by Steve Winwood. I honestly loved it, it was amazing! He looked so cool and effortless maneuvering the stage. Also, it showed a lot of his vocal potential and I want to see more of what he can do with his falsetto and hitting the high notes, because he just gets better and better. Can’t you tell I just love him? 

Anyways, having said that, my guess still stands as: 

JESSE MCCARTNEY 

Super Clue: Shown was a comic book titled “The Amazing Adventures of Shellboy” and it was priced at $10.13. He voices Robin in the animated series based on the comic book “Young Justice,” and it aired from 2010-2013, but it got renewed again in 2019. 

April Fools Clue: “I am not just known for one thing.” This one is too easy, he is not just a musician but is also an actor in various roles in both film and TV. 

Judges’ Guesses: 

Robin: Drew Lachey (ya, wtf, no) 

Ken: Brian Littrell (again, no... too simple to go the boy band route) 

Nichole: Nick Lachey (ok, Nichole, that was just lazy, going off of Robin and picking the sibling, again I say wtf no) 

Jenny: Chris Evans (woah, that one was way off of left field Jenny, almost a Ken guess) 

2. Kangaroo 

Performance: Ok, she isn’t my favorite ngl, but I can’t deny she is really good in terms of voice. However, this performance was not her best. Her voice was pretty shaky. The song, which was Not Ready to Make Nice by the Dixie Chicks, didn’t really show her entire vocal range I feel, but honestly if it is who I think it is, that’s a low key shady song choice, but I get the shade so I'm not mad. 

The person that I am referring to as my guess is: 

JORDYN WOODS 

Super Clue: Inflatable Kangaroo came out of her pouch and she said “alright dolls” = the inflatable kangaroo could be a reference to her younger sister who she refers to as her “mini-me” and the dolls reference is when she played a doll in Justin Roberts’s music video 

April Fools Clue: “I may be a kangaroo but I have never lived in Australia.” yup, self explanatory, the girl ain’t from Australia, and has never lived there. 

Judges’ Guesses:

Jenny: Amber Rose (holy crap, that was painfully close, especially with the Kardashian drama and connection she mentioned as her reasoning for her guess) 

Nichole: Leann Rimes (yikes, another really bad guess) 

Robin: India Arie (idk who she is, but seems like an ok guess)

3. Kitty 

Performance: Ok, ok, this is the one that I changed my mind about and it was such a hard pill to swallow to suck it up and say I am wrong and the Internet is right about this one. Every time I put my old guess on YT, (Lucy Hale) I always get “NO, IT’S *insert person I am about to mention in a moment*” and a bunch of people trying to convince me and I finally caved and agreed but that was because of one specific clue in particular, but we will get into that later. Her performance of Celine Dion’s “It's all coming back to me now” was so powerful and strong as are every Celine Dion song ever but to me it was her best performance to date and now I am clear on this new guess...

The new guess I have for Kitty that the Internet has nagged me about is: 

JACKIE EVANCHO (she’s from AGT, she sang opera as a like 7-year-old, well that’s how I remember her) 

Super Clue: The Tree from Season 2 and her saying “Christmas is the most wonderful time of year” = she has 3 Christmas albums 

April Fools Clue: “I wasn’t dreaming when Robert Redford helped me get my first role.” = he got her the role in The Company You Keep when she was 12 years old. 

Judges’ Guesses:

Robin: Emma Roberts (no... that doesn’t sound like Emma’s voice) 

Jenny: Vanessa Hudgens (Vanessa can’t sing like that either) 

Nichole: Nichole Richie (Really? Ya, I don’t think so.) 

Ken: Avril Lavigne (You’re kidding, right?) 

4. Banana 

Performance: Ok, so this performance was much different from his previous ones. I feel like he is starting to show more of his true self and not hiding his voice as much. With the song “Sweet Home Alabama” by Lynyrd Skynyrd, he showed more rasp in his voice than he did before which kind of made it more obvious to who it could be. 

That ever so obvious guess for Banana is... 

BRET MICHAELS 

Super Clue: A mullet was shown and Bret Michaels isn’t a stranger to the mullet, it’s a signature to his image 

April Fools Clue: “Blue collar means many things. I’m a funny guy, but not stand-up funny.” Ya, easy again, Bret Michaels is the lead singer of Poison and he does have a sense of humor, but he isn’t a comedian nor has he done stand-up at all. 

Judges’ Guesses:

Ken & Nichole: Brad Paisley (not their worst guess, but it’s too country of a singer... Banana fuses the country with a bit of rock) 

Jenny: Bret Michaels (she’s getting it... yay Jenny is catching on) 

Robin: Billy Ray Cyrus (see, this would have been a good guess, if he hadn’t have sung a Billy Ray Cyrus song in a previous round) 

5. Frog 

Performance: He sang “Jump” by Kris Kross and again he isn’t my favorite but he is pretty entertaining. For some reason, he is my mom and my friend’s favorite, which I don’t get. Whatever, anyways, this performance was fun and energetic and he is a great rapper/dancer what can I say? I feel the same way about him as I did about Kangaroo. Anyways, he is to easy to figure out...

My guess for Frog is still... 

BOW WOW (aka Chad Moss) 

Super Clue: Knight Armor= he was in a movie where he was a basketball player for the LA Knights 

April Fools Clue: “I am actually not a trained dancer at all.” = ya, duh, he’s never been known for being one either.

Judges’ Guesses:

Ken: Sisqo (what? just because of one irrelevant clue, you choose that Ken... le sigh) 

Jenny: Lil Romeo (meh... I guess that’s kinda close but no) 

Robin: Omarion (again, like Jenny’s guess... kinda close but not there yet) 

6. Night Angel 

Performance: With her performance of Rise Up by Andrea Day (which is A+ song choice), she proves that she is one of the strongest vocally in the competition. However, that's it, she doesn't dance or entertain as much as some of the other contestants do. Nevertheless, she has an insane vocal range and I still am sticking with my gut on this one... 

I am convinced Night Angel is.... 

Kandi Burruss 

Super Clue: Tricycle= reference to either her 3 kids or her high school, Tri-Cities High School (or both who knows?) 

April Fools Clue: “I am not just a voice, I am a mogul.” yup, self-explanatory, this lady does it all. She has a restaurant, a makeup line, a line of adult toys (let’s say that to keep it clean and PG) and has done multiple spin-offs of RHOA following her life, so mogul indeed.

Judges’ Guesses:

Ken: Tiesha Campbell (not the worst guess from Ken but still it’s a no from me) 

Jenny: Brandi (idk man.... idk who that is) 

Robin: Tamar Braxton (omg so close yet so far)

7. Rhino

Performance: Ok, so he was trying to be upbeat with What a Man Gotta Do by Jonas Brothers and I appreciate the effort, it wasn’t bad by any means. He does have a fantastic voice, but this was not his strongest performance. He did do a little dance move there and it was kind of everything ngl, but his strength is ballads. They just fit his tone so much better, but having said that, he took me a while to figure out but I feel good about my guess...

I feel like the Rhino is... 

BARRY ZITO 

Super Clue: A Slot Machine= he was born in Las Vegas (and he also got a baseball move called the three-quarter slot or something like that but I don't know sports so I am not good at these kind of things)

April Fools Clue: “I am not nearly as tall as you think I am.” The Rhino mask is as tall as White Tiger (Gronk is 6 feet 6 inches for comparison) but the mask adds more height to Barry Zito, who is only 6′ 2″ 

Judges’ Guesses:

Nichole: Vince Gill (meh... that’s a pretty ok guess but ya not there yet) 

Jenny: Derek Jeter (what?! I get baseball referencing but he can’t sing, he has no albums, come on Jenny do better) 

Robin: Duff McKavin from Guns N’ Roses (pretty ok of a guess too, but think less rock, more country... this would have been a more suitable guess for Banana) 

8. Astronaut

Performance: Last but not least, another favorite of mine, we are starting off with a favorite and ending with another one. He freaking Rick rolled everyone (Google it if you don’t get the whole Rick Roll thing.. too long of a post to explain) with “Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Ashely, but it was the best Rick Roll ever like I can listen to his voice sing anything (objectively it’s a pretty darn good song if you remove the meme aspect to it). Damn, bro, like his falsetto in the song was amazing. Like I said for Turtle, I wanna see more of his range. Also, like he freaking spoke in his performance unfiltered voice and everything and it was so obvious who it is like how are the judges not getting this? 

The lovely guy I think the Astronaut is (yes I have a soft spot for the Astronaut, don’t make fun of me)...

Hunter Hayes (and mind you, I also have a soft spot for him too) 

Super Clue: Holding a record with a world on it breaking (breaking a world record)= we already spoke about this earlier but refresher this guy right here Mr. Hunter Hayes, ya him, broke the Guinness World Record for playing the most shows in most cities in 24 hours, with 10 being the number of cities he played

April Fools Clue: “I’ve never had traditional voice training” = easy, Hunter has said this in many interviews in the past and recently had issues with his voice so he got a vocal coach to fix it 

Judges’ Guesses:

Ken: JC Chasez from NSYNC (really Ken? Boy Bands again? Are you really that basic and that clueless?) 

Jenny: David Archuleta (not bad of a guess, pretty ok, but the voices don’t really match up) 

Nichole: Ryan Tedder (again, not bad, but it is too obvious that it is like mind blowing they aren’t getting it)
