I sought happiness all my life, but never really put in the effort required to be happy. I wanted other people to make me happy but as it turns out, happiness others provide is fleeting. When I give someone the power over my happiness, I also give them the power to take away my happiness. Until I learned that my happiness was my own responsibility, my life lacked any true or lasting joy. Today I am filled with joy and happiness. I know who I am, what I like, and where I derive my joy. From feeding the squirrels to walking on the beach, I find joy in everyday activities. I love painting and reading and writing. I love spending time with my friends, my family and my fish. I love helping others. All this brings me happiness and fulfillment.
