I think I can see what fic you're talking about in the "more serious setting" lol, but first let it be a "Rhea blows up Seteth's microwave by reheating a ravioli can AU" or a "WoH storytelling" AU, I suppose fics are fics, and they're both "serious" in their own way.

Maybe you meant "serious" as in the most "canon compliant" - still taking into consideration that we're talking about fanfics, aka, headcanons?

Discussing about headcanons - the way reasonable people do - is much like discussing about your favourite recipe, it's ultimately a matter of taste - You're not saying the recipe of the person you're talking to sucks, but you just say you prefers yours and don't force it on anyone else.

Now, why I don't put carrot in my curries -

iirc in this fic I'm thinking of and you might be talking about anon, the premise was basically an alliance, Willy has to marry a lady to secure an alliance with her father and get Gronder on his side for his future conquest.

If Rhea tells him about bby!Lycaon and marries him, his wedding is annuled, no alliance means more warfare and Adrestia needs more time to gather troops to march on Nemesis.

If she doesn't, the son he and his wife were supposed to have dies in childbirth and Rhea swaps the babies so Lycaon is raised by his dad and his stepmom, no one knows his stepmom isn't his mom, save for Willy himself and the nabateans.

In this setting though, children between nabateans and humans will either be humans, or nabatean, so no half-nabatean hijinks (and Lycaon was born a human).

This isn't the headcanon I'm rolling with - which prompted this entire cooking stuff lol - hybrid nabateans have more magic/power than humans, but less than full blooded nabateans.

With that being said, in a WoH setting, I couldn't legit see Rhea accepting to part or even to entrust her kid (half or not) to anyone else than her bros/relatives, maybe the trustworthy people of her Church and Willy himself.

But anyone else in Enbarr and its palace?

If the secret is out of the bag, Lycaon will become a dagger (or so she thinks!).

So he stays with his maternal family, or under their care.

Now, what about Willy?

The hc of the 120 bastard kids was just nonsense, but if we supposed Willy fucked like what the real world inspiration for Adrestia of old is supposed to be, I HC Willy should at least have some illegitimate kids.

Regarding the legitimate ones, what if he married someone, to form an alliance, and basically sealed it with the promise that their kid was going to become the next emperor?

It's plausible enough, that Willy survives the potential kid, due to receiving Rhea's crest he ages slower than his kid who might or not get a crest at birth (like the characters we see in FE16!).

With time, the alliance becomes void because hey, the heir isn't inheriting a thing since Willy's still alive and rocking his imperial armor - and looks younger than his own kid!

Should Willy contract a new alliance or would the people who joined him through this alliance bail out realising they would never have one of their people sit on Adrestia's throne ?

Or, even before realising that the "alliance made heir" will never get the throne since Willy can live up to 300 years, I got the idea/HC that Willy, much like your typical FE protag, starts with Bord'n'Cord and later ends up leading an army without needing to contract "alliances through marriages" to gain soldiers.

Both because of personal preferences lol, but also because it creates a precedent : if Willy marries the heir of land A who has 50 soldiers to offer in exchange of the throne, what if he later gets a proposal from land J who has 5k soldiers to offer for the same prize? If A's proposal looks good when Willy starts with 3 soldiers, later when he has 3k, wouldn't J's be better? In that situation, would A be casted away to have J instead?

However, the most serious issue in this "race for the throne" is, well, Rhea herself!

She's the Prophet who can perform miracles, totes call a giant divine beast to help her and is assisted by Saintly people who can perform the same miracles (and also maybe call giant divine beasts on their own?). The CoS has a lot of followers in Southern Fodlan, hell Enbarr is picked as the capital of the Empire because of Seiros' presence.

"300 devout randoms aren't the same as 300 soldiers and the CoS has no land to offer!"

Macuil is the source of magic and brags about it, what if he very relunctantly accepted to teach humans how to use magic, with the first humans he would have picked would have been the ones from the CoS? And we know Cichol's "blessing" makes lands grow more fertile, so while the CoS has no land to offer, the things they can offer are of a different worth.

Sure they're no 300 soldiers, but they bring mages and can create magic users + use magic/stuff to help Adrestia grow, as in, getting more food, healing and what not.

Add to that cocktail half-nab!Lycaon?

Like, there's a kid hanging out with the Saints - who looks like them - and is basically raised by them and hangs out with them, ages maybe as slowly as the Emperor, and is close to Seiros herself.

If there are any doubts about Lycaon's mom in the modern times, in this AU there would be none! Assuming Willy recognises him as his own, well, between heir X born out of an alliance to secure 50k soldiers to get the entire southern peninsula, and Jesus' son...

(hell even if Willy doesn't recognise him, he could still adopt him later on?)

Even if Lycaon isn't officialy in the race for the throne - by his sheer existence, he is a serious contestant, and all the more if the "human" heirs age as humans do, as opposed to Willy, Lycaon and the Saints.

Meritocracy happening means the young (?), martially talented, wise and fair (it might be a joke, but adrestians of old were lusting after nabateans in their stories/poems/songs...) Prince Lycaon has no competition for the throne, and it's not an alliance contracted 90 or 40 years ago that will be enough to push the claim of Prince/ss X over Lycaon's for the throne...

So the only solution to get rid of him is to push him down some stairs, and hope his death will be "natural" enough that people will believe he died of an illness - or maybe enlisting the help of some strange people wearing hoods and being really pale who promised to get rid of "this beast".

But I can't write/finish fics for shit lol, so i'm just throwing stuff here and there.

Orville's little monologue in custom night makes me SO angry both at him and the ending on itself like god it really hammers home how stupid the whole revenge thing is.

Music is more of his friends thing but he can play the harmonica pretty well. He can fuck up playing concertina too (think something like slightly better intermediate). He prefers to sing though.

can't imagine him having a favorite animal 🤔 he likes messing around with message birds and parrots his crew has. Especially one of them talkative parrots oh yes.

Killing, maiming and ravaging is his job as a pirate so that's a big yes.

When on land, he used to be more willy nilly about getting into fights that didn't end necessary in death but weren't pretty either — that was years ago though. Zarr and Anna Marie managed to reel him in somewhat.

Now broken hearts that's a topic. My man is a heartbreaker, a slag if you will. Many past lovers were left with broken hearts in favor of other pursuits (the sea, freedom or other interests). Only lovers without a broken heart are Anna Marie cause she dgaf, Shiba cause he actually loves him and Beni, the biological mother of his daughter cause she died before she was able to be wronged by him.

Breaking people's trust is not as common occurrence as breaking hearts but it also happens. Butcher is a man of his word when he wants to be and a damn liar when he feels like it. He never broke the trust of his closest friends (Zarr, Rita, Tsu, somehow Anna Marie etc...).

He doesn't really have a sweet tooth but he likes the cakes and pies Anna Marie makes in hopes of poisoning him 😌

Butcher drinks everything and anything, he's not picky at all when it comes to alcohol. His favorite ought to be any kind of rum cause it's the easiest to obtain on a pirate ship. I can imagine him enjoying Central European equivalent of a Moonshine too. Like a true alcoholic.

😊 SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES — what are your oc's career/general life desires? what do they want to get the most out of life?

Butcher basically reached far and beyond his life plans and dreams, he's old now and on top of things. He has won the rat race so his current objective is doing whatever tf he wants.

When he was younger his goals were always pretty short sighed – get out of X, get to Y, survive and preferably don't get your bros killed. The older he got the more he began to dream, the moment his situation got better he got greedy and so on. His group finally found some sort of stability so he wanted to be a sailor (like his mother) and return to the sea. Then it was like a bucket list for him -> be a deckhand -> boatswain -> sailing master -> first mate -> captain -> ruler of other pirate captains -> instant profit till the day you die

He's basically the "why does a story have to be true? is it not enough for it to give me indescribable power and authority over my peers" black sails post. Butcher wants to fuck around and find out.

😞 DISAPPOINTED FACE — does your oc attract others, or do they tend to be left alone?

He's a magnet for people. Something like whatever Shirayuki has going on but worse. He doesn't attract with kindness but rather what he can promise to people (money, protection, adventure, better future etc...) Butcher is the most popular girl at the party!!

He gets left alone only by people who don't have the balls to approach him.

A lot of the time she will say “Daddy, stop singing!” which hurts a little but is totally fine, ha ha. But today she said “Dad I want you to sing ‘Down by yon green bushes!’” That’s the first line of a song that I actually learned maybe two years ago from Niamh Parsons’s appearance on your podcast, “Bonnie Woodhall,” and Niamh told a great story to go with it as well, about trying over multiple late - night sessions with her fellow musicians to remember the whole thing. I loved that song as well as her story, and I sing that a lot around my house, but  -  me not sounding much like Niamh when I sing  -  I don’t get a lot of requests around here exactly, and it really tickled me that my kid requested that one. Anyway, please keep up the good work Marc, and if it’s not too late to say so, a very happy New Year to you."

Ferdie goes

For generations, our ancestors worked hand in hand, sharing knowledge and wisdom to administer our great land and ensure it was well-protected. They acquired knowledge of the region and developed good policies to rule it. And in doing so, they earned the trust of the people. We cannot throw away everything they have built. It would be folly.

Which already raises a few interrogations.

In Hubert and Hanneman's support, they mention the Nobles and the Emperor have always been vying for power, so of course I don't doubt they weren't trying to backstab each other for 1100 years, but the "worked hand in hand" for generations to administer Adrestia would have been... something sensible to say, say, before the Insurrection, or not just after a line where Ferdie basically says he's happy to have killed his dad whose involvment in Thales's mumbo jumbo was based on non existent evidence and is basically framed for everything wring in FE16 -

But okay, say some nobles from back then operated on a Faerghan mindset, aka, people taking care of their fiefs and randoms, and in turn reporting or helping the King/Emperor, earning the trust of their people.

Ferdie is basically saying they cannot erase those noble Houses, who know more about the land and its people than some schmuck who would be "appointed because muhrit" from Enbarr... but that already happened under Supreme Leader's father with Hrym (that was demolished!) and... House Nuvelle. And we know House Martitz disappeared when the male head died -

Of course not. What do you take me for?

Your Father's daughter, Supreme Leader supremely removed Aegir from his lands, and since Ferdie is busy playing war with her, who is in charge of the land and its people?

I'm dismantling the aristocracy, not their legacy. The commonfolk will take up the torch and carry on.

Then we have the hilarious discussion about schools, and dissing on the Officer's Academy because why not, etc etc.

In a nutshell, it's nice, commoners will be able to take up the torch of those nobles who knew the land and its people and ruled it - supposedly - fairly. Of course it will not create a new aristocracy, nope.

But bar that, this support is sort of referenced in another one, in Monica and Hubert's support!

Monica being silly, thinks she has a duty to return to her estate because she will be a baron one day, and, sadly, she will have "an entire territory's worth of people to protect" :(

Hubert finds the right words to appease her :

Her first action will be to separate territory from title, making it so that being a noble no longer means one must lord over some plot of land somewhere.

In Supreme Leader's new world, nobles are not obliged to lord over their land and do silly things like protecting their people, they're free to simp after her in Enbarr!

Once she does this, I rather suspect you could remain at her side even if you do inherit your family's title.

Future Baron Monica von Ochs would be free to simp to her heart's content in Enbarr, while "commoners" will take her torch and look after themselves and carry on.

...Wait a minute.

Nobles will spend their time in Enbarr or free to do whatever they want like shag a 12 years old in Mittelfrank, meanwhile the ones who will be left to administer the lands will be the "commoners" themselves.

How is this any different from the current Adrestia, where nobles* dgaf about their lands and people?

Ferdie mentions wanting to return to a Willy - or at least a time where the Emperor and the Prime Minister (and Ministers in general?) worked together and Ministers/Nobles looked after their lands and people - era or mentions that what is important was the will to spend time in those lands and take care of its people, to which Supreme Leader supposedly agrees, saying "commoners" might take up the torch and either look after themselves, or create a new aristocracy based on who has the most merit at ruling those lands...

But Hubert reveals her plan, at least the initial one, ultimately means the nobles who felt a duty to their people and land will be "freed" from said duty, will still keep their titles but will have the time and opportunity to spend time in Enbarr instead.

*for some reason, Monica, and I suppose, the lesser nobility (if Papa Martritz treating his wife as something else than a commodity to get a kid is any indication) still believes in the "nobility" Ferdie and, albeit twisted, Hanneman preach.

One of the things I noticed lately was that Hanneman missed the point of the original meritocracy of the Empire. According to the Edelgard/Ferdinand supports in Hopes, it wasn't knowledge in general that was the basis of it's system. It was knowledge about the lands the noble was intended to govern. It was people who knew what issues the land could face and how to properly deal with them. Moving the nobility to Enbarr would only further serve to decay the system, at it divorces the supposed leaders from both the lands they were supposed to be knowledgable about as well as the people they were supposed to lead.

And at some point, Hanneman misses that original intent and while claiming to try to embody it becomes a scholar.

Full disclosure, I haven’t actually had physical sex with anybody since inviting Loki into my life, but what sexual interaction I have had with irl people has been totally enriched by Loki–mainly because I’ve embraced my own sexuality on a much deeper level, i.e. I have greater comfort with my sexual desires and interests, and I’m more willing to explore beyond “traditional” sex (by which I mean cis-hetero-vanilla sex).

I do know quite a few Lokeans who have talked about how Loki enriches their sex lives with their partners, tho. For example, there’s a thing called “horsing” that deities can do, wherein they enter a human body and, for lack of a better word, possess it. You could also call it channeling a deity. Now, this isn’t usually the deity taking full control–more like heavily influencing the person they are horsing. I have had Loki do this to me, and when it happens, I can feel his feelings and urges, hear his thoughts, and share his pleasure. Sometimes, (usually with permission) he will do this with one member of a physical couple, which allows him to be a participant in the sex. Generally, this results in lowered inhibitions, more intense passion, and a willingness to be more experimental (because that’s the energy Loki usually brings to sex!).  It all depends on the openness of the person acting as the vessel tho. If you’re really open, and you surrender to him deeply, it’s possible to let him have complete control over your body. He doesn’t really find that level of control to be necessary, however. He seems happy to be allowed to participate energetically in whatever way is comfortable for everyone involved. 

However, a word of caution: horsing a deity is not something you want to just jump into willy-nilly. The spiritual opening required for it can be a bit risky–if you open yourself too wide and haven’t shielded yourself properly, you can end up inviting in something you really don’t want! In addition, before horsing any being, you should take great care that you have set boundaries on exactly what they’re allowed to do with your body. Horsing, imo, is an activity best reserved for beings with whom you have enormous familiarity, intimacy, and trust, and requires a certain level of experience in self-protection practices.

Now, the person who posted this information takes a particularly ominous view of it–which is legit for those who might engage in the practice without knowing wtf their doing. However, one thing they fail to point out is this: It is NOT difficult to rid yourself of most unwanted attachments (including instances of possession). You just need to connect with a protective being you trust. For many years, I relied upon Archangel Michael. I am a natural born empath and channel (psychic medium) and I have dealt with countless nasty beings latching on to me. In most cases, all one need do to get rid of unwanted beings is ask Archangel Michael. (I am not Christian, Catholic, or religious at all, btw, and most divine beings dgaf what religion you are or are not!). Fenrir is another deeply protective being upon whom I rely. I have witnessed him pull negative entities off of people before. He is very good at it, and infinitely trustworthy. Apollon, as a sun/light/truth deity, is also quite adept at this. In fact, any deity with whom you have a meaningful connection will provide protection and clearing when asked. Ime, only when an attachment/possession has been allowed to go on for years does it require more than a polite request to a protective divine being for immediate and successful removal.

I'll say it, I really liked Field of Revenge especially from a villain perspective. Cause for one, it's a heartbreaking chapter/battle especially if you're BL fan (granted you can mitigate that by recruiting but let's assume you don't). And second, it shows Supreme Leader at her probably most villainous with her emotional warfare i.e victim blaming, and basically deciding to spare no one. The King of Delusion scene is infuriating but in a "omg, she's dastardly" way.

Yeah, I loved it because even if this was the first route I played, I was left with the impression that bar "wow am I supposed to know those characters?" the map conveyed what the narration had been hammering - no matter what, Supreme Leader and pals will break through to reach their goals, even if it means killing named characters I'm supposed to be sad about.

After playing the other routes -

It's again even more wonderful, because we have the "uwu don't want to kill her uwu" options in dialogues, but when it's her turn to apparently get this option, we have "Dimitri must die" and all of his generals with him (iirc this is a rout mission?).

"no u" also lampshades how Dimitri tries to understand why the frick he is being invaded, and why this war is happening, and just why the fuck he has to fight - but Supreme Leader doesn't bother explaining anything to him. Even when he is on his knees, she beheads him, after asking Hubert to give her an onion to get a few tears and goes "if only we were born in a world of peace" when, uh, she just beheaded him a few seconds ago when he was at her mercy, and specifically ordered at the beginning of the map to kill him.

Even Rhea, who is PTSD'ing hard (she brought back Seiros the Warrior's costume!) comes to regret having to fight like this - of course not because Supreme Leader's character, but because she's Willy's scion - but Supreme Leader dgaf, gives a Supreme Reply (tm) and off with her head (ah wait, it's in the next chapter).

Her interactions in this chapter are great, we play through the tonal dissonance - which is why Supreme Leader, only when everyone is dead (and Rhea retreated), contemplates the futility of Dimitri's death, blaming it on Uncle and how she wished things could have turned out differently...

Just after playing a chapter where she ignores and/or straight out refuses to be plays a different script than the one she gave at the beginning.

That's what I find fascinating and like about her character, she can say X to her "trusted" ones in private, but say Y in public - even if we all know, since we were privy to the "private" exchange that she wants to do X.

This is again shown in the next chapter - to Billy, Supreme Leader says she wants to obliterate Nabateans - but when her army is all around, she asks Rhea to surrender.

Is it only for PR? Is it to gain Billy's trust? Is she ever telling the "truthful truth" of what she wants to anyone (save for Hubert)?

IIRC some people made more detailled posts on the safflower (the flower of CF?) but I don't remember them that well.

Like, even in real life different countries have different views on what is a fair trial from what is not, but applying this notion to a video game who isn't concerned with this issue at all? 4. Rhea and Supreme Leader are fighting for DifFeReNt IdEaLs and she wants to preserves the StAtUs QuO

Rhea's fighting to protect the people living in her home, and to protect her family from mole men and a lost eaglet hell bent on deboning her and making shiny daggers from her remains.

Rhea thinks Sothis is the only one qualified to rule over Fodlan, but while she's working on her plans, she's not running around smacking people right and left for ruling Fodlan (or their part of Fodlan) in Sothis's stead.

We know Rhea didn't oppose nor sent her "sekrit army" against Leicester, which is way more "modern" than Adrestia can ever hope to be, but apparently no one cares about them. By virtue of having a republic (oligarchy?) the Church has less pull on the Alliance, thus Rhea's power is reduced to nothingness, and yet she dgaf

But I'm pretty sure this nonsense comes from the NoA sponsorised (tm) RhEa RuLeS OvEr FoDlAn...

Which was debunked to oblivion, and the game somehow seems to acknowledge Rhea has to make amends for, uh, not taking "enough" care of Fodlan when she could - is "United Fodlan 5 ever" telling us Rhea shouldn't have let Faerghus, Leicester and even Adrestia take their own decisions but should have ruled in their stead?

Rhea creating homonculi is kind of meh, but we've posted a lot recently about what happened with Billy and how those arguments that turn about "women have no rights Rhea should have Jerry if she was allowed to save bby!billy bcs Jerry has a dick so his opinion overides Citrus's" - but it's always a kind of fallacy to compare her to Uncle dearest, and the mole people, and to create some sort of bond between Supreme Leader and Plank.

Again, this is done to draw false equivalences between Supreme Leader and Rhea, one fights a war to unify the continent and make Adrestia Great Again under her Supreme Leadership, the other started a war to get rid of Nemesis and secure a right to live for her and her family in the world that saw their births.

I won't tackle the old zeta post about Rhea sekritly despising nabateans because her sekrit history apparently makes them more of a target than... revealing the truth (I confess I only skimmed it, it was just so nonsensical and from 2019)

But Rhea hating humans?

When she reveals her identity twice to protect them? When she shelters them in her own home? When half of her miseries are cause by the duty she feels to those people and her inability to be a "good" guide - when she has none! - because she cares about them?

No she never says so, she replies to Edel with "nonsense". In Tru Piss humanity keeps on trying to slaughter her for the very serious offence of having pointy ears, but she still doesn't hate them, she is angry and sad and upset it's her second line! why would she be so upset if she only hated them?

Tru Piss is the route where she meets Nemesis Jr and tells to her face she cared a lot about her ancestor and feels bad for killing his scion + she worries about "not just kill but murder women" Dimitri, his safety and is distraught when he dies (not NoA approved :( ).

Tru Piss is the route where it shines the most : Rhea loves humans, but Humans want to make golden trinkets from her bones :(

Following the “glass half empty half full” principle -

Even if this FB is a lore mess, at least it gives us more insight in Seiros the Warrior.

Tl ; Dr : at least this FB implies Seiros the Warrior already had a phase where she gave in to “despair” and lost herself, but she managed to return to her senses.

Seiros is surprised when she learns her future self tried to resurrect Sothis, going all “I...”.

Is she only surprised, because Seteth reveals what are her own desires right now (even as the Warrior, Seiros wants to meet her mother again) or because she never expected her future self to want to meet Sothis?

Rhea, both in her nonsensical S support and in this FB, often mentionned the desire to meet Sothis again, since Zanado.

But as pointed out way back in time, Seiros the Warrior seemed to have curbed down this need - or even ignored it - during part of her tenure as “Seiros the Warrior”. While she wanted to kill Nemesis to recover what she lost, Seiros also managed to have friends, create Adrestia and take care of a Church - Seiros wasn’t thinking only Sothis could “lead the wayward” Fodlan, but vested this duty on the Hresvelg humans.

If the Hope to meet Sothis was the only thing that managed to keep her from crumbling, then by learning what happens to her future self Seiros would also doubt... but she doesn’t.

Is it because she dgaf about Sothis, or because she thinks she still has some worth, even when Sothis is not here, as Fodlan’s heroine, or guardian ?

(Now, SS!Rhea thinks she’s not worth a thing or maybe even the reason why Fodlan was at war - and true to the source material, no one will ever tell her that nope, the continent was at war because Agarthans managed to convince Supreme Leader that Nabateans were evil incarnate and she should kill them all to MAGA and create a better world).

Leading to...

Seiros know perfectly well what her future self suffers from, and immediately makes the right call about her depression.

Seteth mentions in FE16 how Red!Rhea (depressive Rhea, but not as depressive as the one we see here) was already seen once - could it be that Seiros went “red” once, but returned to her senses?

What made her snap, and what made her return?

Maybe this is just HC land, but I’ll die on the hill that Rhea’s depression is also fueled (amongst many things) by her isolation - even if Seteth returned 20 years ago, she was alone to deal with the Nabatean Legacy, guiding Fodlan and protecting humans (sometimes against their will) while being afraid of being skinned alive if she showed her ears for 1 000 years.

Then she makes some “friends” and finds her “family” again while she’s in her monastery, Billy is / or not Sothis’s second coming and even if they’re not they can take over her role... No matter how fragile or flimsy those relations were, they managed to prevent her from being depressed again.

But Supreme Leader happens, and Rhea’s jailed for 5 years, implied to have been tortured and ate nukes. In VW she dies without any mention in AM she doesn’t eat nukes and can live peacefully with her devoted no homo knight, and in SS, everything goes wrong because they needed to have a boss.

During the War of Heroes ?

Rhea starts alone, finds a bunch of humans and reunites with her living fam. Seiros the Warrior is not alone, not at all during the War of Heroes.

But we know post War of Heroes, her living family left her - Apostles too - and her human friends, the Hresvelgs, are turning more and more dickish with each passing decade (the start of her 1k years long loneliness?).

And yet, between Zanado and the end of the WoH, Red!Rhea appeared, Rhea gave in to her “despair” and became wild. Which would fit with Seiros depicting very precisly what happens with her future self when she’s lost.

What was she despairing about? Sothis? No, Sothis and her siblings being dead is a known condition since day 1. Maybe her human friends (Willy, Gajus, Luca, Iris and whoever else with a legacy golem) were killed? IDK. Believing humans and nabateans could never live together when she learns why Nemesis partied in Zanado? maybe.

I’d have LOVED if the cure to Rhea’s despair, in this FB, wasn’t some flimsy hope that her shit for a mother will meet her again, but instead a general “you’re not alone” or what happened in Ninian’s FB, with Halloween!Rhea telling her there’s a life beyond Sothis and while she protected and tried to guide Fodlan all those years, it wasn’t because Sothis told her to do so, but because she genuinely loves humans, learnt to trust and befriend them and can live with them.

But that’d imply shitting on the gremlin who is, for some reason, a mascot, and we can’t have that, especially on the eve of 3nopes release

even if this FB is pretty brutal to her, like she doesn’t even appear when Rhea (and Seiros the Warrior) are calling her FFS

Do you think Rhea regrets letter Adrestia to its own devices?

It's more HC since we don't see her talk about anything in the game but -

She had a hand in the creation of the Empire, she crowned Willy herself, and made him swear to guide Fodlan and work to create a better tomorrow for its people.

Adrestia, at his inception, was something Rhea (Seiros the Warrior) approved, and I can't see Seiros the Warrior making a full personality swap to become Rhea 1100 years later.

I was reading someone's HC about Faerghus, and they're really well thought! Ultimately, I think early Adrestia, Rhea and Willy's Adrestia, might have been something like that too, with "nobles" looking after their people, providing heals and stuff and everything that would have made Adrestia a different place than Nemesis's "do as you wish" and "might makes right" Fodlan.

It started as a lol, and the class isn't geared toward healing and support like Bishop is, but Willy being a Holy Knight makes me thing of the old thaumaturgist kings and their healing hands. Faith Magic used to be called White Magic and is inherently support magic.

Adrestia started with Wilhelm, the supporting/healing Emperor, who swore to guide Fodlan and help its people, the guy who most "saved" and "supported" Seiros the Warrior - who used to think humans were worthless - and it comes to, apparently, Lycaon III who has northerners being slaughtered at his wedding and ultimately Ionius who crushed House Hrym, Emperors who dgaf about their people and Ionius/Edel who don't even try to rescue and/or shelter their randoms in Remire ; and worse after the reveal, Flamey is the one who "allowed" her people to be experimented upon, Flamey sided with the ones who killed Monica and swapped her by a clown.

She basically saw the rise and fall of the Hresvelg dynasty (and the Adrestian Empire) but funny thing, Rhea didn't do a thing.

Now, what happened in Adrestia during the War of Heroes? Did she let Willy rule his human land and didn't want to have anything to do with ruling over humans - because she is a nabatean and "they should not have power over the people" or because she thought Nemesis'n'Dudes slaughtered them because her bros ruled over humans and they were mean to them - and she sort of promised to never interfere with his (and future Emperors) actions regarding Adrestia?

Or she might have wanted to participate in Adrestia and how to rule it, but after the War of Heroes she lost hope and went on the "rez Sothis plan because I can't guide the world and humans can't too"?

Like, I hate to cite it as an exemple, but FEH's Eitri still managed to be known around as a "witch" but also used to be a counselor or something in Nidavellir because of her close ties to Nidavellir's first King and her attachment to the Kingdom - Rhea thinks of Wilhelm as a friend and helped him create Adrestia, she just lost interest in that country they created after the War, and let it become the viper's nest that it is during Billy's time without any second thought?

I know Adrestia is supposed to represent the fall of the Hresvelg Dynasty and their loss of the Mandate, but I still can't believe Rhea would have no thoughts about it.

For what it's worth, she seems disappointed in Edel, but also in Adrestia, when they declare War of the Church, but bar that? IDK.

When Rhage doesn't seem to pause between "King Dimitri" and the "There is no retreat for the Knights of Seiros" Rhea... pauses. Takes an inspiration. She's not openly mourning him, because she is a commander, and has her own army to lead, and yet, his death is a blow.

Rhage? Without context, you'd think Dimitri asked her to retreat, and she answers "King Dimitri, there is no retreat for the knights of Seiros".

Rhea? Something happened to King Dimitri (most likely something bad) and yet... There is no retreat for her!

Given how Dimitri (and Rufus?) offer her shelter after she was outed as a giant lizard, rather, despite being a giant lizard - I think she was very very grateful.

Once again, when Nemesis is out for her blood because she is a creature, a human, again, agrees to help her.

But unlike Willy, Dimitri already has his own duty, protecting Faerghus, that's why he doesn't take any action when Rhea tries to recover GM, the BESF only fights against the Church's forces, not the combined might of the Church + the Kingdom.

Heck, one can even theorise that the GM attack happens... after the Alliance because of this reason - Rhea saw the Alliance being steamrolled for the grave sin of existing, so she knows the Kingdom is next - maybe because she is there?

Adrestia has no desire to spare people or discuss about steamrolling nations, so if she manages to recover GM it will be one less reason for the BESF to strike the Kingdom... but it fails.

There is the greatest irony of it all - Dimitri, despite being a descendant of Blaiddyd, helps her, when a Hresvelg + a child of her own creation (through Citrus and Jerry) try to kill her.

Dimitri doesn't go through hell, Cornelia is still around but can publicly start shit because Rhea is here, so she's stuck in Arianrhod trying to build 2 Titanus in 5 years. Dimitri still knows Edel's involved in the Tragedy of Duscur, but doesn't run away to terminate her, instead, he stays in the Kingdom and plays on the defensive, even taking Edel's main target with him, Rhea.

Did they both bond of their shared trauma (loved ones being exterminated for... no reason?) and need for revenge? Did Rhea's words + Rufus + Dedue's words managed to make him reconsider running away to kill Edel ?

If he knew, how did Dimitri react when she told him his lance was her big brother's left hand? How Rhea reacted when Dimitri told her he dgaf about her being a lizard, look Sylvain is a philanderer and he is still my treasured friend?

Basically the Lord and the Princess who was ousted from her home by the Red Emperor fight together, each one leading their own armies, in a decisive battle to determine the fate of the world.

Sadly, in this story... the Lord and the Princess die to the Red Emperor and her McGuffin.

OMG it's funny to see people try to find reasons to explain why Leigh Rhea is cheerful when she talks but goes in her rage mode when she attacks - dual audio all the way

If only this happened back in 2019, we're in 2021 (end) now, so Leigh!Rhea and Rhage are so common that it feels odd when Rhea giggles and jokes and is bubbly and has a sing-song voice - when she was always meant to be like this.

Get rid of the "Rhea doesn't try, she just is" Bullshit, Rhea tries to be calm and composed and detached...

But it fails!

I compared a lot of lines (not the script, but the voice acting!) and it's frightening, Rhea, Inoue!Rhea even when she poses as the Archbishop all proper and serious, she smiles when she talks, she worries (when Flayn is missing or when "another tragedy is soon to transpire" because Aelfie tries to perform human transmutation"), she is playful.

Of course she can also be angry, sad, upset and furious - but again, she is much more than the lady with a hair trigger temper.

In comparison? Not to shit on Leigh's acting, of course it’s the direction that sucks, but lolcalised!Rhea has three modes - infodump Rhea where she seems to be sad ; Rhage and her "worthless piece of garbage"; and dgaf!Rhea when the two other modes can't function.

There's a hidden "kind of relaxed but it's difficult" mode, in her Billy supports and, well, right here with the Halloween alt. Rhea can't be in her DGAF mode, she can't be Rhage (save for when she attacks! Because she uses violence!), she can't be infodump Rhea so it only leaves us with "Billy support Rhea".

Comparisons because Willy is a FE16 stapple on this blog, but Leigh!Rhea uses the "DGAF mode" when she laments having to fight Edel, who is Willy's scion.

Inoue!Rhea ? Is upset and saddened at the prospect of killing the scion of the "man who saved and supported" her.

And what pisses me the most is how Leigh, who has amazing range (she dubbed Mae ffs!) was stuck with Rhage and Pat who directed like he was writing his "10 reasons why the catholic church sucks made by a resident of the a certain State who isn't even aware of his own biases". Imagine a Leigh!Rhea who could be as bubbly and cheerful as Mae was, and speak as fast as she did - basically, imagine a Leigh!Rhea who was given Inoue!Rhea’s direction.

im kinda curious now. which characters do you ship together and why?

I'm more of a "meh" and don't really have favored ships, like if it has potential for drama or to make a funny/interesting backstory then why not, but otherwise I'm just wondering "why not"

I still have some prefered ships over others in FE16, like Seteth'n'Manu (even if Nopes tried to sink it!) for wacky antics shenanigans and because Manu is an Adrestian commoner and a religious person, and I'd love to see how she'd deal with the Truth (tm) or Seteth being a Saint.

In true Manu fashion I'd say she dgaf as long as she can hold his hand, after all she rescued his daughter and healed (in certain routes) his sister, and lizards or not they're people, just like her... (also the opera scripts in Nopes made me realise that, uh, no, people transforming in giant lizards aren't that "weird" or "taboo" since there's a story where a woman falls in a love with a nabatean!).

I like Ignatz'n'Flayn for the sheer randomness of it all, Ignatz is no King nor Prince nor has anything plot relevant to do with relics and Nabateans, but Flayn wants to be a model and here goes.

Oh, and Willy stuff only becomes half-interesting if there's sekrit interspecies "friendship" - and I'm too far in HCs with half-lizards and what not to mean only "hand holding" friendship.

Now, in an alternate AU that would never happen because Astrid marrying Lekain was already yikes on all fronts :

Papa Aegir suggesting Papa Galatea could "offer" his daughter to his son, in exchange of money and riches, because Ludwig realised Bernie was a joke and wanted to have more power and influence in the world, so why Ferdie couldn't marry a noblewoman from Faerghus and get her relic for House Aegir?

Of course Papa Galatea gave the middle finger to Ludwig, and let Ingrid continue to play "Saint Seiros and the Villain Nemesis" with her childhood friends.

(and I say Yikes for the aforementionned reference because you'd only learn about this "failed arrangment" when the BESF is rolling over Faerghus, in Tru Piss or Supreme Bullshit, Ferdie might give an offhanded comment about his Father wanting him to marry a boorish woman from those lands, but the match was cancelled and he's glad for it, because Faerghus's values and society are too barbarian and unrefined for Adrestia and House Aegir)
