The other day I visited the library where @hannistudies works and let me just say that the views were incredible. 10/10 library vibes, will go back whenever I have time.

The days in the lab are either very long or very short, this reminds me why I like bioinformatics so much... There's no problem in stopping mid experiment to go home.

I'm getting ready for the ultimate spooky weekend, what about you guys?

just because I'm done with undergrad doesn't mean I'm done learning! this summer I'm going to be studying, practicing, and coding a lot for different reasons: my job, tying up loose ends of my thesis, and for plain old fun (okay, as much fun as I can have when I feel like throwing my computer out the window). I guess that means this is a CS studyblr now too? honestly I'm a little shook to find myself on this path. no one ever encouraged me to do CS in high school and I always just assumed I had a humanities brain! stay tuned for more emotional breakdowns as ya girl tries to stumble her way through some complex tasks with a basic knowledge set...

I am struggling to focus on my assignments right now. Lectures and readings are so much more convenient digitally, but I miss sitting in the far corner of the library to work on papers. Technically classes were fully canceled these past two days which is great because it gives me time to help out at work.

I'm taking a 3-week long self-imposed holiday, so here are the spreads I made after @melaschnie, @hannistudies and I visited a Paul Signac exhibition in Cologne. It was a beautiful day and I'm quite happy with how they turned out!

These days I'm trying to chill a bit more in preparation for what's to come, but I'm still kind of busy writing emails, training (only one race left!) and trying to meet as many friends as safely possible before I go back to Germany for my third semester. Good news are that one of my best friends from Spain is going to join me in my shared flat! I'm very excited for that :)

Ngl, I see that so many of you are starting your terms and I'm getting kind of jealous, but my time will come 😌 two weeks left of break!

it's a gorgeously rainy and flowery day on which to have FINALLY defended my thesis!!!! I'm so honored to have such amazing friends who showed up and asked questions, grateful to have an opportunity for this education, and beyond relieved to have it over with :') for all its flaws I really love this field and as badly as I need a break from it, I'm going to be absolutely thrilled to come back for my master's after my year abroad 💕

2. Are you an Austen person or a Bronte person?: Neither. Shocker, I know. I dislike classic literature. 

9. Are you for or against multiple narrators in the same book?: For! It provides complexity and dimension for the characters and the plot. 

26. A book you studied in school and ended up loving?: I don’t have one. Maybe “Nathan der Weise��� ? I didn’t read a lot of books in school (also only German ones) and most of them I hated with a passion.

textbook & art portfolio for the end of semester asks, please! hope you're doing fine :)

textbook - if you could give advice to a younger student in your position, what would it be?

there’s a few thing i guess, but not all of them are study related.

i’d let them know that it’s okay. that, even though everything outside is chaos, it’s okay to spend the time working on the inside chaos. that working on the inside chaos is not the same as pretending like all of the injustice and suffering and terrible things happening everywhere are not happening. it’s just to put yourself in a better place to see and deal with those things.

i’d remind them how helpful a consistent routine can be, even if it’s created over a long time. even if it’s just one little thing you change most days. if it’s washing up in the evening or reading a little every day. you do not have to change all of it in one day. any step in the right direction is a good enough step. trying to take them all at once just means sometimes you don’t make any at all. it’s okay to take things slowly. there is no rush. a lil’ change every day is enough.

in terms of studying, some advice is just to learn to prioritise and learn how long certain things will take. a paper is going to take significantly longer and take more energy than a mcq test. pre recorded lectures don’t have to be done all at once. i think a lot of it at the moment is working out where your energy is best spent. there’s not a lot of point exerting all of your energy on something that’s worth 1%. you do not have to do the very best you could ever do if you do not have the energy to do that. with a lot of things, passing is enough. try to timetable prerecorded lectures, because you won’t do them otherwise. also, please please please, if you’re going to do an all-nighter go the fuck to bed when you’ve finished. 3 hours sleep is better than 0, you complete and utter tit.

art portfolio - did you nurture or discover any hobbies?

in the summer, i rediscovered my love of reading. it’s something my concentration levels and circumstances hadn’t really allowed for a long time. i’ve sort been busy at the moment, but i’m determined to start finding time again to read because  i feckin love it and i love learning random crap :)

to invest in myself. to do more things that serve me. to take myself up on every offer, every harmless whim. to make my coffee exactly how i like it. to read the books i enjoy and ditch the ones i don’t. to educate myself on what i’m educated about. to be polite to myself and others, even in disagreements. to go into arguments thinking, how can we both leave better people? to figure out who i am and who i want to be and to do it on purpose.
