pt. 2

Ima start with Nightmare King’s changed lore bc Migo’s lore is muy importante for this

So it starts the same: Lunia makes Migo and all that jazz but it changes slightly when the reason Lunia starts spending time away from him is because she has a kid (yeah Logan = Lunia’s kid batshittery continues lol) so blah blah he gets bitter and when Lunia brings little Logan to Castle Nocturnia for the first time Migo straight up just attacks him. Lunia gets pissed and kicks Migo out of the Castle and sends him to the time out corner (really just a rock floating out in dream space) and then slowly Migo’s own anger and sadness from seemingly being replaced (+ some other stuff/miscommunication) corrupt him and the Dream world around him turning him into the Nightmare King and the stuff around him into the Grim Realm. And this is where Night Hunter comes in. Night Hunter’s just been chilling, he’s got Hannah and Zoey (both of whom he loves very much) and a decently high ranking job at the Night Bureau. This all goes down the drain though when Hannah gets hurt on a Night Bureau mission, gets sick, and passes away. Night Hunter gets hella pissed at the Night Bureau because it was their fault Hannah hurt and they did nothing to keep her from dying so he turns on them. He generally just makes the Night Bureau��s job trickery for the next little bit until the day he finally stumbles across the Grim Realm and realizes just how powerful The Nightmare King is. The two then starting coming up with their master plan to get everything they’ve ever wanted; they’re going to utilize the true power of the dream world by locking dreamers deep within their minds to siphon out dreamers ability to alter the Dream world so that they can make an entirely different Dream world that’s more akinned to a Lucid Dreaming world. This would make it so that the two of them could basically create Dream versions of Lunia and Hannah so that they can live happily ever after with them the way they want. Of course because her dad starts spending a bunch of time working with the Nightmare King, Zoey is somewhat abandoned so she goes to live with her bestie, Miya, but then they have their falling out so Zoey calls her aunt and goes to live with her in Brooklyn. (I should note though that Night Hunter and Dream Bandit both don’t know the other’s identity)

And finally we come to Mateo lol. The Garcia family’s inciting incident that makes them stray from how they are in canon is that instead of Mrs. G just leaving the parents get a full on divorce that ends with Izzie and Mateo being split up. Mateo goes with their mom and Izzie stays with their dad. Unfortunately of course Izzie is a bit to young to remember most of this, including her brother’s best friend. Additional Mateo also starts being homeschooled which puts a strain on Cooper and his friendship because Mateo also moves further away. Mrs. G also refuses to even talk to Mr. G so the siblings go from only seeing each other on holidays to basically never seeing each other period. Very tragic 😔. Anyways at some point Mateo’s aware dreamer-ness kicks in and he happens to meet up with Zoey in the Dream world where, very slowly, they become friends. Night Hunter ruins this of course. He sees Mateo’s potential, especially since Mateo brings Z-Blob into existence ever night, so Night Hunter begins to start being a Shady Mentor ™️ for Mateo and manipulating him into believing that himself and the Nightmare King are the only ones who think he’s special, and cool, and talented and that Zoey just wants to use his skills to help her defeat Night Hunter & Nightmare King. Eventually this all topples over and Mateo ends up betraying Zoey. Zoey of course is really hurt by this and Miya’s betrayal so Zoey becomes even more of a lone Wolf than before and swears off trusting anyone ever again. Once Night Hunter gets Mateo on his side he takes Mateo to the Grim Realm where he fills Mateo in on their plan. Mateo of course is equal parts horrifyed as he is kind of intrigued by their plan (a world where everything could be how he wants? No bullies, no divorced parents? Hey sign him up if you find out a way to do that without capturing and imprisoning hundreds of dreamers) but after a bit of mind meddling from Nightmare King, Mateo quickly joins the bad side.

Now that the pair have Mateo on their side Nightmare King uses Mateo to track down Castle Nocturnia (bc Nightmare King and Night Hunter can’t find it as traitors to the Night Bureau but bc Mateo is a regular “Dream chaser” that hasn’t labelled a traitor yet he can) so the Nightmare King and his army roll up to the Castle and take it over, killing Lunia in process and leading to Mr. Oz/Albert to have to take Logan and go on the run. Due to the chaos of the battle Lunia’s hourglass falls into the hands of Mummy Guy who does his best to keep it from the Nightmare King’s hands. Mummy guy however is forced to teleport into the waking world when he gets into a fight with Night Hunter who shoots him with a corruption arrow. Mummy Guy of course fucks up his teleportation and appears under Cooper’s bed, so before turning into a Night Terror he gives the hourglass to Cooper (who’s been awake all night working on a model car) and then Mummy Guy gets turned into a Night Terror but disintegrates from the light from Cooper’s lamp. This of course leaves Cooper with the task to protect Lunia’s hourglass but unfortunately for him that means he’s about to be put on the hit list of basically every major force in the Dream world.

so i can’t decide between ron x viktor and ron x padma for the muggle hs au so i may just go with the tried and tested method of fixing things with polyamory but first of all here are arguments for both relationships

ron x viktor:

enemies to lovers - the weasleys are viktor’s host family (he’s an exchange student) and ron doesn’t get along with him at ALL

at the same time ron really looks up to viktor bc viktor plays hockey, which is ron’s favorite sport and the sport he wants to play

they play chess together <3 ron is president of the very unpopular chess club and viktor joins

My thoughts on 3x05 - Signs

@movrings Since I was unable to post my thoughts about the episode when it first came out, here’s my thoughts on it here!!

First off, concerned for Beard, he’s been increasingly wrong with small things recently and becoming more unsure of himself, part of me thinks this might have to do with Jane and his abusive relationship with her or it could be just a gag, but I’m hoping the former is actually addressed at some point

The whole “Shite in Nining Armor” thing being just a slip of the tongue seems a little too obvious, I’m still holding out hope it’s either about Jamie or Henry because i honestly don’t see the significance of that scene unless we’re talking about the mention of “soulmates” during it

Side-note: I absolutely despise John Wingsnight and this scene just made it worse, this guy sucks and deserves to be called a shite (he’s also incredibly creepy, Rebeca you dodged a very large bullet)

Anyway, “soulmate” mentioned!!

Also, I understand why Keeley can’t pick up the phone, but it is sad to see especially later in the episode

Jumping to the boys talking about Nate and Anastasia: i love how Isaac said that Nate’s “transformation is gonna be on the inside” like it has yet to happen. Obviously, he means it in a negative way, but for the audience, we know/hope that Nate’s transformation is going to be good and lead to a reconciliation! This is especially interesting to see coupled with Nate’s plot point within this episode

All i gotta say about Zava is fuck him, but i am sad we never got to see his wife and Smingus Dingus

I love the “injured monkey” bit the guys do to guilt Trent into telling them his idea and that Roy joined in

I love how i knew it was Henry that was actually the bully - definitely wanna know what he did to Doug

Roy’s monologue, the music, *chef’s kiss* (Love the way Ted handled that too lmao)

I can’t remember where, but I’m pretty sure there’s an interview where Hannah mentions how important that scene is because Ted is the first person to really ask Rebecca how she’s doing during that and you can see the shock Hannah portrays on her face perfectly - anyways I’m emotional

the more I sit with the tortured poets department, the more it makes perfect sense as a body of work taylor would create/release especially when you consider the fact she operates much more closely to an indie artist artistically than a lot of her contemporaries.

so honest it's catching people off guard? she's been doing that her whole career from the minute she put people's real names in her songs. lyrically sharp and slightly alarming? may I present "and you come away with a great little story about a mess of a dreamer to adore you" or "you made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter." bold and sonically strange? she's been blurring the lines of genre since her earliest albums, regularly blending country, pop, folk and even rock. 1989 has been her only traditionally dare I say 'sonically cohesive' album and the only reason its palate is so clean is because of the risk a pure pop album posed to her successful country career. if she hadn't nailed the landing then, she wouldn't be where she is now. *it also feels worth noting her most adventurous 'weird' but music has come AFTER she thought she'd had her last chance at mainstream success (lover) and as a result, thrown away the checklist because she thought she had nothing to lose. she was just making music for herself with no expectation of success*

'there's too many metaphors and characters/the muses are murky and I can't tell what's real. does she have to write so much fiction now?' this is the girl who immortalised her neighbours love story, who rewrote romeo and juliet, dreamed about crashing a wedding and was inspired by bob + ethel kennedy for god's sake. she's always written stories and imagined.

'I just can't understand why she'd make this and take this risk when we all liked her so much?' my friend, have we been paying attention to the same artist all these years? taylor swift not taking creative and honestly quite punk career risks would be like christopher nolan films without cillian murphy. she walked away from a development deal at age 14, took a chance on an independent label she built from the ground up and then bet on her future when they held her past hostage. took a genre they said wasn't for teenage girls and transformed it. wrote an album on her own after her songwriting was questioned. took a 10 minute song to #1, directed music videos and a short film worthy of oscar buzz, stretched her muscles and is directing a feature film AND re-recorded all her old work in arguably the biggest potential interruption to her career not for any perceived gain but for the statement of an artist's worth. but the world doesn't view them as risks because they worked

Just sitting here thinking about how the surprise song section is the new version of the arm lyrics and what a flex it is that she now has enough music to give us real time insight into her emotional state using only her own words and not other people’s.

Back in 2021, upon the re-release of her version of ‘Red’, Taylor Swift described the album as her “first real exploration of adult heartbreak’. All scarlet hues and secret oaths, scarves lost to time and vibrant aches in colour so bright she was left blinded.

Well if that was her first, this is her glorious second. All sepia tones and maps made from scars. It’s black, white and shades of grey, the life that swam down the drain. It's rings that never came and veils worn in death (not marriage), baby names tucked away and a knight come to save the day. Except while he was meant to be healing wounds, he was building a second tomb.

Probably won't articulate this particularly well because the thoughts are still cooking but so far, even if it doesn't end up lasting for them, there's just something so warm about Taylor and Travis in an entirely different way to how I remember it being when we found out about Taylor and Joe. That warmth was a relief, a blazing fire keeping the chill away from someone who had been stuck in the fiercest and most oppressive winter. We were all so worried and she she was so unwell, by her own admission Joe saved her or at least made her feel like it was worth trying to save herself. He loved her privately when that was what she needed. This warmth is different and I can't quite explain why.

Maybe it's because this all started with a man shooting his shot on a friendship bracelet and being open about his feelings and what he wanted in a healthy sweet way (which anyone who does relationships with men knows is rare lol) or maybe it's that he doesn't seem phased by her success, at least for now, embracing it. Maybe it's that he's refreshingly willing to talk about her and it's not that Joe wasn't, he did, he just seemed to make people afraid to ask??? Maybe it's the happiness that radiated off them both at the game, both of them being OK with bold and public and showing up in a way we know Joe wasn't in the end or wouldn't let Taylor be for him. Maybe it's just that she's healthier now so instead of showing her how it could be, he's able to just slot right into where she's at. A place full of power and both parts of herself, Taylor the person and Taylor the artiste.

Whatever the reason, the best way I can describe the vibes we all picked up on on Sunday is an exhale (if you have better descriptions, leave them below) and even if this isn't forever, the feeling that we're watching Something feels so so nice you guys and honestly gives me hope for myself too
