UNGCC CLASSIFICATION
so I came up with some classes for monster with Godzilla: Immortals. I came up some ids for the gang, try to guess abt who everyone is 👍
United Nations Godzilla Countermeasures Center: Classifications and Threat-levels
In this world, we have realized that mankind is not the dominant life form in earth. That title belongs to the great, terrible, powerful, terrifying monsters that live among us. In this organization and its sub-sections, there is a universal classification of these monsters.
They are as follows:
Kaijin
Kaiju
Daikaiju
We will going the basics of these classifications, and their respective threat levels, so you can do your best to protect humanity from them.
A KAIJIN is categorized as a “strange person”. Kaijin are creatures are either, humanoid in shape but posses supernatural characteristics (ie: horns, claws, tails, superhuman abilities.), or a small animal-like creature with supernatural characteristics. Catalogue examples of KAIJIN are “Bat Men”, “Frankenstein (STAGE 1)”, and human “MANTANGO” host, “Shockirus” parasite, or a singular “SHINOMURA” bug.
Threat-levels of Kaijin are categorized by a three tier system. On the lowest end of the scale is MINUSCULE. A minuscule threat is a Kaijin that is as dangerous as an average person or animal. (EX. Peaceful Bat Men). The next tier up is MAJOR. A major threat is a Kaijin that is more dangerous than the average human or animal but can be disposed of by conventional weaponry. (EX. Hostile Bat Men, “Space Beastmen”). The final, and most dangerous, part of the scale, MENACE. A menace is a Kaijin that is dangerous by proximity within a, at most, 100 square foot radius. and requires special weapons to be destroyed. (EX. “H-Man”, “Human Vapor”.)
A KAIJU is categorized as a “strange beast”. A Kaiju is a creature or entity of up to 40 meters in height, 100 meters in length, and around 100,000 metric tons. Kaiju normally possess some form of supernatural, or otherwise impossible ability according to our current under standing of the laws of physics. Catalogued Kaiju include the following: Gorosaurus watsoni mutate, Ookondoru, Kamacuras, Kumonga etc. Threat-levels of kaiju are categorized by a two tier system. The first tier is the same as the last tier, MENACE. A menace-class Kaiju presents a similar danger as a menace class Kaijin within the same space. Members of the menace class include a singular Kamacuras specimen, and ID: Jiǎnshǎo Cán Shén. The next tier is Devil-class. Devil-class Kaiju usually possess some form of a ranged attack. Examples of Devil-class kaiju include ID: Rōzurandogādian, the “Megavolt Monsters”, and ID: Kukulkhan.
A DAIKAIJU is categorized as a “giant strange beast”. These are the greatest threats to humanity. Daikaiju are creatures above 40 meters in height, 100 meters in length, and upwards of 100,000 metric tons. Most Daikaiju hare capable of wiping out an entire city in one shot. Daikaiju have three classes. They are KING, RULER AND LORD. Examples of KING Class Daikaiju are ID: Jinshin-Mushi, ID: Gizō Tengu, and ID: Behemoth. Examples of RULER class Daikaiju are ID: Hōnengyo, ID: Zhēn de Canshen, ID: Gomi no akuma, ID: Basan Mittsu, and ID: Gizō Hōnengyo. Examples of LORD class Daikaiju are ID: Zmey Gorynych, ID: Uchū Hōnengyo, ID: Yggdrasil, and ID: Akuma.

FINALLY DONE! I made a little emoji head of (almost) every Godzilla design :D
The notable exclusions are ToraGoji (because these are mostly based on an AU I'm working on with a friend, and part of the lore is that Tora doesn't actually look like that, that's just how the Americans decided to depict her in their movie about her, so my emoji for her is what she "actually" looks like), Hannah Barbera Goji (because in the lore, he's ToraGoji's dad and isn't seen), an Gyura Goji (because I just don't like his design at all, sorry u,u )
But ye a full list of who's who is under the cut ^^
Shodai - Gyakushu - King
Mosu - Daisenso - Musuko
Soshingeki - Megaro - 84
Bio - Ghido - Bato
Rado - Moge - Desu
Burning Desu - Mire - Gira
Sokogeki - Kiryu - Final
Gare - Shin - Ani
Doughe - Reku - Taka

How ironic it is that I was a Godzilla and a Hannah-Barbera kid growing up but I never watched the Godzilla Power Hour.

This my piece for the Godzilla-themed "Strange Beasts VII" show at the Guzu Gallery in Austin, TX! The physical piece is partially printed on acetate, imitating a traditional animation cel. I thought it'd be something fun to try out, given I was tasked with making a piece based on the Hannah-Barbera version. Check it out in person if you're in the ATX area!

I MEAN-- to be fair, the 90s 'Godzilla' only really got shat on because it tried to dress up as THE Godzilla, y'know? That's what got people mad. Is it acceptable as just another Kaiju? Yes, absolutely! But not THE Godzilla. To think that people got actual HATRED for the Spino is just... unreal.
@lairofmxnsters
Maybe I'm a dipshit about this, but I explicitly remember Patrick Tatopolous saying he didn't want to change Godzilla because he was an established character and instead wanted to bring the spirit of Godzilla into a new guy (I have the damn DVD with this interview.)
So he wasn’t TRYING to displace Godzilla. Instead we got butthurt TOHO execs who had buyers remorse and made it everybody's problem.
The same guys who spent months complaining the new 'zilla was too fat while Shin Godzilla was flopping like a boneless fish and exploding blood everywhere and that was perfectly okay.
And even THEN people didn't complain as much. Hell, even Zilla haters like Monster Island Buddies on YouTube admitted in a podcast that he's grown to appreciate and like the '98 Godzilla.
Yeah, the chip I have on my shoulder is pretty deep with this. It's why I can't stomach seeing a Rex in a movie anymore.
#lairofmxnsters#rave to the grave (out of character)#98 Godzilka got me into kaiju along with the Hannah-Barbera Godzilla#So it's definitely got a special place in my heart#X3

It’s actually named after a type of nuclear reactor (and is supposed to have the same capabilities) but I still laugh at the name of this monster from the 70′s hannah barbera godzilla show

i had a sick dream last night that i was watching Godzilla: King of the Monsters last night.I forgot a big chunk of it by now, but there was a really cool part where Godzilla went full Hannah-Barbera and lifted a sinking ship out of the ocean and set it on a beach before going to fight Rodan

UPA is extremely important to the history of the animation industry. They were formed by workers leaving Disney after the 1941 animation worker strikes and built their studio’s early reputation on shorts for United Auto Workers and FDR’s re-election campaign. They actually weren’t the ones who were focused super hard on cutting costs, they saw using a less realistic, more abstract shape based style as a way to expand the bounds of what animation could accomplish beyond replicating reality. Their stylistic innovations eventually did lead to a lot of the limited animation techniques used by Hannah barbera that made animation affordable to produce on television budgets though, and the competition put a lot of pressure on them since they only had a couple of successful IPs. The company wound up all but going out of business in the 70s but what was left after they shut down animation production wound up becoming the company that licensed Godzilla and other Toho kaiju films for release in the US.
As a side not though, all but one of the shows listed (the modifyers, which never got past its pilot) are made by guys who worked together at Hannah Barbera after going to school together at California Institute of the Arts. The other major name that uses most of these stylistic elements is Butch Hartman who also graduated from Cal Arts a few years before them. And considering many of the major “Cal Arts style” series creators such as Rebecca Sugar (SVA) Ian Jones Quartey (SVA) and Natasha Allegri (University of Arizona) DIDN’T actually go to Cal Arts, think there’s an argument to be made that this is the actual Cal Arts style.
hey so, i really dig this particular style of animation but I don’t know what it’s called:
thicker lineart but with obvious weight, interesting usage of curves and angles
characters are fairly colorful but it’s more muted and retro-style, it blends with the background. sometimes colors are even more stylized for effect depending on the scenes, overall aesthetically pleasing
its generally pretty cartoony
character designs are diverse but they all retain some sort of charm, im not sure how to describe it but theyre all pretty funky and flowy and i really like that
usually big, oval-shaped, expressive as FUCK eyes
animation itself is pretty smooth and stretchy, usually traditionally animated. lots of facial expressions, very fun to look at
i know for a fact that not every early 2000s cartoon had this style but i really like it, idk if theres a specific name for it.

How do u feel about the Godzilla anime and the Hanna barbera Godzilla
Honestly, I'm not the biggest fan of the Godzillla anime right now, solely cause I'm more into the whole kaijubseries to see the kaiju, and with this whole world they could have done so much new and interesting stuff with already belived creatures, but instead we have to watch the humans, who I really dont care for. And I know some people are like 'wow, clearly you're stupid for being upset that there aren't that many actual kauji cause you just cant possibly understand the nuance of the human conflict', and to that I say that the human conflict is cheap, boring, and predictable, and IM WATCHING YHE STUPID SERIES CAUSE I LIKE KAIJU!!! I WANNA SEE THE KAIJU!!!
As for Hannah Barbera, I've never seen it, so, no opinions.
