Do a lot of people tell you that you are funny? Usually it's only my friends, but that's also because I only try to be funny around them haha. I'm pretty serious/formal with most others cause it's hard to tell what kind of humor they have and I don't want to possibly offend.
Have you gone to a tanning bed lately? No and I never need to. I get tan for free where I live, lol.
What did you do on the Fourth of July? After checking my IG archives, all I did that day was work from home and post some outtakes from my Bangkok trip as I was apparently still on a vacation high.
Do you ever watch Hannah Montana? I watched the first two seasons, but it was around that time that we moved houses and we couldn't afford cable yet, so I was never able to catch up with the rest of the show. I still really liked Hannah Montana though and had her first album and even the Wii game. I think I even owned a couple of bedazzled Hannah Montana tops haha.
Do you think Miley Cyrus is a good role model? She must be to a certain audience, I guess?
Do you have nice legs? I like them, at least.
Are you good at decorating? No, that's what I need my sister for haha.
Have you ever been to Ohio? No.
Do you like southern accents? No.
Do you watch Big Brother? No, never saw the appeal.
How old is the oldest person who has ever liked you? Only one person has and they're the same age as I am.
Do you get intimidated easily? I try not to.
Do you get a shower every day? Pretty much, yes.
Do you like mountain biking? Nope, I can't even bike.
What is something you like to do for fun? Watching wrestling, painting, and learning about either social history or prominent family trees.
Do you remember a lot of things from whenever you were a child? Well, yes. I had a darker childhood than all my peers, and a sure side effect of that is developing a sharper memory...
What was something good that happened to you this week? I managed my last event for the account that I negotiated to get off of and from now til the end of March I just need to oversee turnovers.
Have you ever been to Ireland? Never been.
Do you have a lot of shoes? It's not a closet's worth but it's definitely more than enough!
Would you rather go out to eat or make dinner yourself? I'd rather choose from the pantry.
Do you like The Goonies? I've never seen it.
Would you ever consider being a photographer? I did, but I realized it wasn't for me. Photography is an art, and I am no good at art.
What is something that you aren't good at? I'm awful at any sort of creative writing. < Hey, same!
What is something you really regret? Buying running shoes that cost way more than how much I'm willing to pay for shoes. I thought it'd make me get into running.
Running just sucks.
Do you think you have a lot of friends? No, and it's okay. I get what the adults mean now - your circle really does get smaller the older you get, and that's ok! I actually prefer it this way! Hahaha.
Do you like to answer questions in detail? Yeah I tend to be a big blabberer hahaha.
Who are the texts in your inbox from? They're all work people.
What is something you wear everyday? Just airy and thin stuff since I live in a country that's well over 32C everyday and it wouldn't make sense to wear thicker tops and jeans or sweatpants at home.
What clothing store do you really like? Shopee and IG stores...hahahaha.
Do you have a lot of chores? I'm in charge of a handful but I wouldn't call it 'a lot.' We share equally.

MILEY CYRUS - "FLOWERS"
youtube
We may prefer to have flowers brought to us in the pouring rain...
[4.60]
Edward Okulicz: Something about this song clearly resonated with a lot of people, and months later I'm still unsure what it is. My best guess is that the self-confidence of the lyrics is given a mournful undertone by the melody and delivery. Now twice the people going through a break-up can relate! Good work, Miley; it's a strong melody. [7]
Tara Hillegeist: Fucking Miley. [1]
Frank Falisi: What's in a voice? Intention with friction, and then time. To write about Miley's voice in terms of its recognizability risks the redundancy of writing about the sun's warmth or the grass blade's cool. Listen: she sings with one of the seminal grains in pop music. In spite of this fact or because of it, the voice has jostled through myriad transforming forms, since Hannah Montana, since Breakout. Sometimes a singular instrument bargains too recklessly with the free market, and while the chameleonic pop path is far from exclusive to Miley, her voice has been aggressively strip-mined by trends and forecasts, by its singer. And like a Fielder-Safdie-Stone curse, that Billboard cover story where she forced the voice to renounce hip-hop as a regressive and swear fealty to respectable family/blasé liberal politics, the changes have felt like market calibrations rather than aesthetic ones. She apologized, and to be sure, no pop presence deserves to be read one way: part of a stardom's symbolism is that it speaks in a voice all on its own, in fact has no choice in the matter. But the voice's grain has turned to game (show). Everything since has been a reduction: upraising "authentic country", a half-hearted dalliance with Joan Jettness, eventually embracing life as a jukebox quartering out covers; the plastic glam-gloss possibilities of Bangerz barely warble out in the fricatives. "Flowers" is ostensibly a kiss-off, but all it does is reaffirm the transfiguration of a pop arc into a loop. It trades "Malibu"'s domestic bliss for independent womanhood, a similar and familiar commodity de rigueur for re-branding icons. One wonders what the song would do if it rose to the occasion with real venom, if it let the voice (which is to say, the feeling) jab through the veneer of canned narrative. It doesn't. "Flowers" doesn't go anywhere, its chorus maintaining the same no-go goop groove that its verses offer. Not stuck in your head but just plain stuck, a voice circles. [2]
Joshua Minsoo Kim: So labored in its delivery that the message starts to make sense. Yes, I start to think, the sluggish melody has the semblance of pushing through pain. And then those harmonies arrive to shove the Inspiration down your throat. I don't like self-love when it's obnoxious. [3]
Ian Mathers: One of the few faint silver linings of TSJ gracefully exiting the stage is I thought I'd never have to reveal certain shameful secrets once I wasn't writing about certain pop stars. But I have to face up to it: I just don't enjoy Miley Cyrus's voice. It's a perfectly fine voice! And I'm not talking about her performance or anything. There's just something about the timbre of her voice that doesn't work for me. I've never exactly striven for the illusion of objectivity in these blurbs (C'mon. C'mon!), but I admit I've caught myself humming the chorus here enough that I'm trying not to hold my irrational and visceral dislike of Cyrus singing against it. [6]
Jonathan Bradley: As she's grown older, Miley's grainy voice has gathered more charm and personality, not qualities it had been lacking in her youth -- even as a Disney Channel actor she evinced a sharp sense of performance savvy and comic timing. She's also learned that the public will punish her if she gets too outré, which is why her big hit of 2023 was a song of low-key melancholia colored by gestures towards independence that resonate faintly without being at all disruptive. No one's ever going to be troubled if she buys her own bouquet. The result is this year's answer to "Cold Heart": a song catchy enough to become omnipresent and wan enough to quickly wear out its welcome. [4]
Jacob Sujin Kuppermann: Honestly if we had reviewed this when it came out I'd probably be a few points higher on it -- but everything that seemed charming here upon first listen has faded with time. That disco groove feels stiffer and more focus-grouped the more times it loops, Miley's insouciance has morphed to laziness, and that Bruno Mars quote has lost what little cleverness it had to begin with. What remains is a thoroughly under-written event single, a nothing of a song in the vague outline of a hit. [2]
Alex Clifton: I've heard this song so many times and I can easily hum it, but I can't remember any lyrics beyond "I can buy myself flowers/write my name in the sand." Am I just bad at paying attention? I mean, kind of, but I think it speaks to how I view Cyrus's work overall: really catchy, memorable melodies, but weak lyrics that wash away. It's a shame as it's a neat hook, but acts as a six-second intrusive thought, built more for bite-sized consumption. Added a point because I will never be able to buy flowers again without thinking of this song, in much the same way that my brain automatically turns to Katy Perry whenever I see plastic bags. [6]
Leah Isobel: Arid guitars, parched Miley vocals, lyrics so terse they might as well be mirages: this is global warming pop. So when she says "I can buy myself flowers," it's not just aspirational in the sense of being over someone's bullshit; it's aspirational in the sense that flowers will someday cost as much as a house in Malibu. [5]
Nortey Dowuona: It's a little surprising that Miley Cyrus is now a respectable pop singer who makes convincing country pop, mainly cuz for a while she was off following her own weird muse into any direction and making albums with her Dead Petz and singing with Lil Nas X. But now she's making conventional guitar pop with either neatly mixed drums or very lively drum programming that launch each chorus into a brightly lit croon that lights up at the tail end, Miley's last searing "than you can" lingering before the song ebbs and stops. And it's a little surprising because it's actually pretty good. (It ain't Slide Away tho.) [8]
Brad Shoup: I'm more appreciative of ballads than I used to be, and a disco ballad is a great change of pace. Miley is aiming this at the dive bar; there's no show-stopping bit, just a constant smolder goosed by guitar and electric piano. (The strings should've gotten to sob a little!) When the high-stepping chorus comes in all I can think of is "When I Was Your Man": partly the melody, partly the flowers. [7]
Taylor Alatorre: I don't know whether the thing about "When I Was Your Man" being one of Liam Hemsworth's favorite songs is just a cop-out to avoid having to pay royalties to the Smeezingtons, but Miley doesn't seem very determined to disprove that theory here. Her unbothered, above-it-all delivery could stand to be a little more bothered, and parts of the song's structure are just plain frustrating, like the stubborn, senseless pause that precedes every chorus and forces its already-limited stock of momentum to restart back at zero. The wobbly contours of Miley's voice are arresting enough to prevent a complete collapse of listener interest, but it's hard to fashion a convincing portrait of liberated selfhood out of an earlier song that's built on woeful penitence. [4]
Wayne Weizhen Zhang: Miley's music as of late has evolved to genuinely interesting places steeped in introspection and authenticity. It's a disappointment, then, that "Flowers" is the biggest hit she's had in years. It retreads ground she's covered in a format that can only be described as maudlin, drab, and too on-the-nose. [4]
Jeffrey Brister: I don't listen to terrestrial radio, like, ever. Haven't in years. All of my music consumption comes exclusively from RSS feeds, social media, and hallowed sites like the one you're reading right now. My only exposure to "what's on the radio" is in segments of seconds as my wife's alarm goes off, notes wafting from a tinny speaker at a progressively louder volume. In those moments, immediately after waking, I'm groggy and confused, unable to form higher level thoughts. This particular song has been a part of that ritual of gaining awareness, and every single time it has come on, my first truly coherent thought is, "man, this Lady Gaga song is not good." [3]
Katherine St Asaph: I know that after the "Blurred Lines" case songwriters reportedly got paranoid about receiving vibes-based lawsuits and started changing or crediting anything that even kind of sounds like another famous song, but is that even true? Have they stopped? Because this is just Cher's "Strong Enough." [5]
Scott Mildenhall: Clever writing, textually appropriate plagiarism and memorable melodies -- but while these flowers are neatly arranged, that just means they've been dispassionately stuffed into a panel. Perhaps it sounded better on first listen, but at this stage it's flaural wallpaper. [7]
Alfred Soto: After a flop album that I enjoyed, Miley Cyrus returned with -- what exactly? Why and how "Flowers" resonated for millions in the first half of 2023 baffles me. Her nasal Stevie Nicks-indebted goat-warble is its own attraction, the hook is pretty good, and... well, what? Combine her timbre with the line "I can buy myself flowers" and presto -- a yearbook quote if yearbooks existed. [7]
David Moore: I'm a digital download pump-priming truther, so I guess if the alternative is fascists getting to #1 for a week or two I'll take a full calendar year's slow and steady drip of Miley's mids as a form of pop chart harm reduction. And this is one of those songs like Bebe Rexha's "Last Hurrah" that I appreciate the personal connection to without it affecting my sense of how dumb it is. My youngest really likes this one! We both laugh about the part where she says she could talk to herself for hours (that seems weird!), and he is fascinated by the idea that writing your name in the sand is something that people who are dating might do, because he also likes to write things in sand and does not yet fully understand dating, but he did, unbeknownst to me, download an app on his tablet to practice kissing, and he also downloaded a "love app" and correctly noted that in one picture the two people are in love with each other even though she's his crush, which means technically she shouldn't love him back (he's six... to her credit, Miley Cyrus has always deeply understood six-year-olds, the low end of her old Radio Disney demo). And hey, speaking of Bebe Rexha and endearing constitutional midness, isn't it kind of funny that the one person in the world worse at being a pop star than Miley Cyrus happened to put out the best Miley Cyrus song of the year and no one cared? They should have paid for more digital downloads! [5]
Will Adams: EDITOR'S NOTE: To prevent attracting attention from Ms. Cyrus' passionate fanbase, this review has been amended for the writer's protection. Ten years on from being a twerk-pop provocateur, Miley has firmly cemented her status as a C-list an A-list pop star who releases some of the most boring iconic music put to tape. From the zen lite-rock of "Malibu" to the shiny-leather pop of "Midnight Sky" to the disco of "Flowers," it seems she's never always had anything something interesting to say, no matter the outfit. Perhaps that's what helped "Flowers" become Spotify's most streamed song globally this year: it sounds like nothing everything. The arrangement is terminally limp serve. The self-love imagery is beyond basic vivid. Miley pushes her voice as usual, but with such staid slay surroundings, the song's failure legend behavior becomes that much more apparent; the flowers have already wilted outsold Ariana. [3]
Michelle Myers: Personhood is fundamentally lonesome, and we should all seek ways to break free from ourselves. Dance, drink, laugh, make music together. Make music that isn't boring nu-disco! You can buy yourself flowers, but a dandelion from someone who loves you means so much more. [3]

Do a lot of people tell you that you are funny? No, but I make them laugh which is good enough for me.
Have you gone to a tanning bed lately? I've never gone to one in my life.
What did you do on the Fourth of July? Nothing, it's just another day here.
Do you ever watch Hannah Montana? No.
Do you think Miley Cyrus is a good role model? Not really, but then again I don't really think celebrities owe it to anyone to be a good role model - they're just normal people with jobs that put them in the spotlight.
Do you have nice legs? So I've been told.
Are you good at decorating? Ha, no. I don't have the patience for it really, or the coordination.
Have you ever been to Ohio? I've never been to the US.
Do you like southern accents? I actually do. I especially like country singing.
Do you watch Big Brother? I've seen a few episodes here and there.
How old is the oldest person who has ever liked you? About ten years my senior, to my knowledge.
Do you get intimidated easily? It depends on the situation.
Do you get a shower every day? Yeah, I feel really gross if I don't shower.
Do you like mountain biking? I've never really been as an adult but I did like it as a kid.
What is something you like to do for fun? Photography, horse riding.
Do you remember a lot of things from whenever you were a child? Yeah, I can pretty much remember all my childhood.
What was something good that happened to you this week? I got two full weekends off which is pretty miraculous for me, lol.
Have you ever been to Ireland? No.
Do you have a lot of shoes? Yeah, quite a few but they're all boring/practical ones lol.
Would you rather go out to eat or make dinner yourself? It depends on my mood and what the options are, I guess. Eating out seems so expensive lately for what it is.
Do you like The Goonies? I've never watched it.
Would you ever consider being a photographer? I enjoy taking photos but I don't have the knowledge or patience to do it professionally. I'd get bored sitting around waiting for the perfect shot.
What is something that you aren't good at? Algebra.
What is something you really regret? I don't have any regrets.
Do you think you have a lot of friends? No, I don't have many friends at all. But I like it this way. I'm not a very social person. <- same here.
Do you like to answer questions in detail? Some detail, yeah. I don't like ones that are about six questions all mashed into one, though.
Who are the texts in your inbox from? Mike, Suzanne, my mum, Jenn, Andrew, Sam, Tracey, Sharna, Chris and Helen. Oh, and a girl called Chloe wanting dog walks.
What is something you wear everyday? My glasses.
What clothing store do you really like? Fat Face. I just wish I could afford it nowadays, it's SO expensive.
Do you have a lot of chores? I mean, I'm an adult with a house so yeah, by default lol.

concerning the alternative scene's recent rise in popularity (and why it is likely to fall again):
warning !! essay long text under the cut
to give a bit of context, i was a pre teen to young adult from the mid 2000's to mid 2010, which i call the middle to end of that time's "alt scene boom". recently alternative culture experienced a rise in popularity again - funnily enough around the time a staple of that era's music scene, my chemical romance, announced their return (which i will come back to at a later point as they are, in fact, important to note, whether you personally like them or not) - and with that rise in popularity there weren't just new and younger people joining but some even found their love for the alternative subculture again. i use alternative as an umbrella term here as it should be. there are of course multiple different 'camps' hidden underneath that.
very recently i watched a documentary about the "death of the classic goth scene" which was very interesting in so far as it gave me an insight as to why i saw so many alternatively dressed people walking around in my teen years to a shocking dwindling of that number. the documentary explained that the goth subculture in itself got divided into more and more 'camps' (such as steampunk, cybergoth, victorian goth, etc) until there was no real "grapevine" between them anymore. to explain what i mean by that: when people start to gatekeep between those camps, communications stop. and as a consequence the bigger scene gets dissolved:
the alternative scene lives from new input and new ideas. if that is not given because you do not step outside your specific 'camp', don't let anyone in who's for example only interested in a specific aspect of that 'camp' and are also not allowed to take from another, or even just new people trying out something new entirely, then there also cannot be any growth because after a while there are no new ideas, no fresh input that would keep it alive.
that same thing already happened under the bigger umbrella of "alternative", people were forcefully dividing themselves or being divided into different camps like punk, goth, emo and others. while looking for a specific term and therefore identity under which to group to find others that might be interested in the same aspects of alternative culture that specific subculture stands for, it also led to people from those subcultures turning their back on the other subcultures they were technically siblings to. for that we can just use one of our generations favorite terms: gatekeeping.
the different subcultures gatekeeping their culture, fashion, history, music and so on led to an ending to the different 'camps' influencing each other. this proved fatal: the alt scene Needed each others influences to grow and change, and simply stay alive.
that is why bands like my chemical romance worked - because they took input from different subcultures across the board. basically, when people stopped holding hands, so to say, alt more or less "vanished" from the public eye.
if not the most popular, there is no denying that my chemical romance is the most influential alternative band of that specific time period. it even went outside the line of “alternative” as for example wearing military style jackets experienced a sudden boom in popular fashion after 2006 - the year my chemical romance published their most famous album the black parade and wore military jackets to each of their concerts. singer gerard way’s classic shaggy longish hair with bangs became known as the classic ‘emo’ haircut which then slowly made its way into mainstream fashion for boys everywhere. ‘guyliner’ was a broadly used term in teen magazines and even if men wearing eyeliner was done before, it was suddenly not just a thing for a specific subculture anymore. of course that all wasn’t received positively by everyone but nevertheless: alternative culture was seen and seen everywhere and you were able to find gerard way’s skeleton painted face on the same magazine page as hannah montana’s miley cyrus.
but why were they so influential? why did they rise to the top that fast and were known by most subcultures under the “alternative” umbrella?
simply put: they took inspiration from across the whole board and put it together. different aspects of different subcultures were made anew. fresh and accessible, they opened their arms to everyone, speaking for the outsiders and underdogs, as long as you listened to any type of rock music. and it worked because they themselves originated from different subcultures. musically, lead guitarist ray toro himself said his biggest influence was always the metal genre. rhythm guitarist frank iero was the biggest punk rock influence of the band, and the way brothers, singer gerard and bassist mikey, were both deeply into gothic rock and britpop. of course the broad scope of new jersey’s music scene, where the band originates, made all fans and members of those subgenres of rock music interact - and therefore influence each other.
it is a fitting example explaining why they were such a big influence and also why the alternative scene rose to popularity as it did. it also explains why it came to a fall: without new input, new influence, and gatekeeping between groups the scene stopped being accessible. it stopped growing and changing, until it stagnated and fell to obscurity again. while many of the bands didn’t stop making music and also didn’t stop being popular, the alternative scene in itself fell into obscurity.
now, as alternative culture experiences a sudden rise in popularity, more and more gatekeeping rules start cropping up, rules about who is a real punk and which parts of different subcultures you dare not take for your own. and that is exactly why it is likely to fail again. if this ‘revival’ of the alternative scene is supposed to make an upwards trend - and i call it revival, but let’s face it some of us have been there the whole time - then something has to give.
this concludes, as i fittingly said somewhere farther up in this essay of a textpost:
we have to start holding hands again.
#please read this#yes you may respond and or add to this#or share#please please interact#lolalovesu#please i had good thoughts for once

The industry reflected on television
This is a translation of the post x made by @larryisinlove and @faithinrainbows
On many multiple occasions through the media around us we have read or heard a lot of people talking about the reality that the music industry faces and a lot of their aspects that we may not notice at a first look. However, we can see that a variety of TV programs (many of them released for younger audiences) gave us some kind of hints or messages on many chapters they present to us. Chapters which show us the reality artists face in the world of music industry.
Let's start by talking about the Disney series, "Hannah Montana." In the episode (3x10) we can see the protagonist of the series, Miley, dressed as the teenage pop star Hannah Montana along with a famous boy named Austin Rain, who claims to be her partner to the photographers and the media.
At first we see them united showing themselves in front of the cameras, but the reality behind it is that the relationship was only created to promote their song together called "Us Isn’t Us Without You."
We are also going to mention the moment when one of the most famous series for children created by Nickelodeon, a very recognized television network, tried to make a reference ( more like a parody in my opinion) to a massive TV network we all have seen in the past which is Disney Channel. In one episode called “The Dingo Channel” they talk about a channel called “Dingo Channel” tried to copy the structure of the web channel protagonist the series iCarly and the way that channel was run in that period of time. We can see it as a satire the way some of the rumors Disney Channel and their creator were involved in. They qualified Disney basically like a network with little originality.
It is interesting to see how certain topics are presented as a joke, such as wars between television networks. Or how the protagonists go from making a channel on the internet to making it to television, but little by little they find big changes that the production wants to introduce, among them, change to the protagonists, and other modifications that culminates with a different program to the original.
The third program to mention is another from Disney, "Gravity Falls" (1x17). They present to us a band called "Sev'ral Timez", and the protagonist is a fan of them. So, together with her friends, they decide to attend one of their concerts.
At the end of this, the girls are curious to know what is behind when the group disappears, so they go behind the scenes without anyone seeing them, to find various capsules. Inside them you could see the same boys, in different sizes, and the band in a large cage, as if they were animals. According to them, their manager keeps them safe that way.
You can see how the series wanted to demonstrate what happens many times in the industry, wanting to create perfect bands or artists, who manage to sell their image to their fans.
We go on to see what the fourth program presents, in Austin & Ally (Third season-episode 22). One of the Disney series that most thematically refers to the life of an artist in terms of their experiences or events they experience at such a young age is without a doubt Austin & Ally. Several things have been mentioned in relation to the life and growth that an artist has in this episode, exemplifying the main characters of this series. In addition to having their typical Disney touch that characterizes them, it also shows how the characters develop their personalities in the artistic environment and in the world of the music industry.
A clear example in this particular episode called "Relationships and red carpets" that draws a lot of attention at the moment of analyzing it, is to see how Austin and Ally prepare for an awards event, they have been nominated in the same category and would basically come to mean the big moment of the beginning of their careers as pop stars. They planned to announce their relationship to the public eye, but something happens that caught a lot my attention and that is something not far from reality is that Jimmy (owner of the record company in which Austin signed) prohibits him to make his relationship something public with the clarification that it would not be a good thing for his image and that what he wants to sell with Austin is something for teenagers who will eventually buy his music and have that fantasy of being able to go out and date that star, that star he wants to turn him into. He explains openly that this will make him sell more albums in the future. In this episode Austin and Ally try to make their relationship a secret with the purpose of showing Jimmy that they can deal with this. They even deny their relationship to the press at the award ceremony, but they realize that it is not easy at all. Austin risks his career at the cost of it by telling everyone he is dating Ally. This tells us that maintaining an image for sales is too important, it shows us that these things are not taken easily.
As a consequence Austin is unable to release music in any ways for the next 10 years due to the power that his label presents over his music by certain contracts that are mentioned in a basic way in the series.
The next show belongs to Nickelodeon, "Victorious." In this series we find a rather peculiar chapter, within this we see in a developed way how they ask teenagers to send videos showing their skills in music, and with that they achieve a career. The person who did these auditions was a man named Mason, and particularly he is British, with great power in the industry.
The winner of the contest is Tori, the protagonist of the series, who is summoned to a confidential meeting in order to talk about her future. She happily goes with the idea that she should only sing and be her, to which they respond "Your image does not sell, so we are going to create a new one for you", something that we know happens a lot. And they put a condition on it. They tell her that she can't tell anyone about her control over her image, not even her friends. This is how they put wigs on her, flashy clothes, and invent an insolent personality in addition to rumors that generated controversy, among them, causing a stir in restaurants in front of many people.
To finish, we are going to present what the movie Starstruck tells us, the life of a superstar and a girl he meets throughout the plot. In this film we see how this artist handles the moments in which he is told what to do to clean up the image he has a little and get more opportunities as an actor, he must keep himself out of the public eye, and obey everything they tell him to do or say and be cautious with whom he hangs out because of recent problematics he has had.
Basically this film, apart from touching the typical Disney theme of a love story, shows how this star tries to handle this fight in which he is constantly told what to say to the media or the people around him and also shows the way in which the media greatly influence the image of this artist. You can see the behavior of Christopher, the protagonist, at the time of making decisions in order to take care of his own image with the purpose of getting the role he wants to play, all this starts as it is usual from a recommendation that his manager gave him, therefore this idea does not come out of his mind and sporadically says or does things that make the girl he has a romantic interest in feel disappointed because she doesn't like the person that this star tries to be reaching a point of collapse due to all the hate and harassment by journalists which falls into it as a result of things the star said in order to clean its own image. Jesssica, played by the well-known Danielle Campbell, gets tired of having constant harassment by the press, which was waiting for her to say something about the relationship of this normal girl with the big star Christopher is. She decides to give a speech that allows us to understand the intentions that these media require, to sell an artist and sell articles or magazines at the cost of freedom, privacy and quality as a person. (This is highly ironic). The star reconsiders and thinks that the best thing to do is to start taking control of his image and his life and decides to leave his opportunities as an actor and tell his parents who in a way were in charge of taking care of his image that they are fired and he wants to be himself.
As we could see in the examples mentioned above, and in many more that were not named, there are series or films that contain episodes in which they will give us examples or clues, some more direct than others, about the management around the artists in the middle.
It is not unusual that there are so many examples, and so many similarities between them, or with what one already knows, hears, or reads.
The objective of this post is to imply that it is no secret what companies or managers do with their artists, the changes in appearance and personality, transform them completely, or even invent lives that they do not have. These chapters, or scenes that we name, are a step forward to show publicly what happens, and that the affected people cannot come out to say it.

but that’s the thing you guys aren’t getting - she’s not a polished girl all the time, she’s just not a crazy wh*re. her personality isn’t like miley’s for example, who’s more sexual, carefree, did the utmost to get rid of hannah Montana persona, etc. selena occasionally drinks, goes out with friends, curses, makes mistakes, reacts badly to stuff, has peed in a cup, has taken nudes, has had her nude pictures/videos leaked, is shady sometimes (if you follow her closely you’ll see that subtly, esp on tiktoks), she gossips, she’s gone through different phases throughout the years, including ones where she was showing more skin/was on a sexier vibe. she’s basically 30 now, y’all. she behaves like an adult and doesn’t feel that need to show she’s grown by being overly sexual or showing skin (nothing wrong with that). it makes sense that she wants to be a good role model, given everything she’s been through with her lupus, bipolarity, being on a toxic relationship that was toxic on both sides, and the list goes on. the girl has been an UNICEF ambassador since she was 17, her charity works aren’t new stuff for her image. we gotta be rational and fair here. she’s been around for over a decade and every single day she gets a shit ton on of bandwagon hate for the smallest things she does or doesn’t do, say or doesn’t say. and the bad things that come out abt her always come from people that already dislike her, which has always felt rly weird for me. it makes sense the amount of times she speaks up about mental health and not using social media. she’s a private person overall, doesn’t share much abt her life (and when she does people claim she can’t bc she’s using * for attention). nothing she’s doing is new in the sense of her actions or the way she behaves. and i would honestly say that in Hollywood it’s quite hard to keep a facade for so long, it always tends to come to light one way or anther, so if that’s her case, props to her, give the girl an oscar tbh. i think she’s got some highkey bops and while i myself am not a fan of hers, i can admire the fact she’s kept her career growing by branching out and also by speaking out on issues, by giving people a space (such as blm movement on her Instagram) to have their voices heard and such things, all without massive controversies on her name (i think the biggest one was that woody allen movie but if I’m not mistaken - pls correct me if I’m wrong bc i just saw the information in passing on Twitter - she afterwards donated everything and more to the metoo movement, is that right?)
However…everything you mentioned never made it to mainstream media. So yes, stan twitter has dragged her for some of her “scandals” but they never got the attention from media outlets which has set her apart from her peers. The general public still views her as the good girl. While Miley and Demi have embraced their edgy personas. Selena’s team are always on top of every press release about Selena. When she was drunk at the AMAs they came out with an article about her anxiety. They have reused the same mental health tactics since she was 15. And I think now they’re really turning it into her brand.
Selena will have an interesting memoir one day.

Ranked: Hannah Montana — Mamaw vs. Dolly
So this seemed like a fun one for me to do! These are two of the most iconic recurring guest stars, so naturally I had to pit them against each other (or, well, pit their episodes against each other). This competition isn’t particularly serious, but it is a nice excuse for me to talk about some of my favorite episodes on the show. Like before, I’m going in reverse-order of how much I liked them, or Worst->Best, so I can save the best for last.
“B-B-B-Bad to the Chrome” (Season Three)
It’s a testament to how awesome Vicki Lawrence is that even in the “worst” episode she’s in, she still brings it and is in many ways the strongest part of it. This one loses out mainly on writing, and me fucking hating the subplot. I’m sorry. “You forgot some really arbitrary timestamp I decided to put on our relationship without telling you, which means you don’t love me” will just never be anything but annoying to me ever, no matter how much I like the couple involved. Honestly, it was shit like that that made me glad I didn’t do a lot of dating in high school.
The main plot is kind of weak too tbh, but I’m still in some ways fond of it, because it’s very clear that it’s all coming from a place of love. They replace her car because they love her, and they try to recreate the old crappy car because they love her, and she pretends not to notice because she loves them right back. The best scenes are the one-on-one interactions between Miley and Mamaw, where you can see how much they understand each other. It was because of those that I almost bumped this up one… but they weren’t quite enough to sell me on this episode. Sorry again.
“You Give Lunch A Bad Name” (Season Three)
This one, again, not a very strong episode, but there are a few reasons I liked this one just a little bit more. Part of it is I’m a sucker for Miley/Jackson centrics, and they strike such a perfect balance of brother-sister solidarity and sibling rivalry in this: the song in the beginning, the schemes, the mimic fights, them immediately pointing at each other when Mamaw asks them who the “guiltiest grandchild” is. Another part is that weirdly, Lilly and Oliver seem to have more of their natural chemistry in this episode than they do in the one where they’re actually dating. Case in point, their little quiet communication to leave in the middle of the siblings’ bickering without having to say a word to each other.
What’s interesting about this one is, Mamaw isn’t necessarily wrong that the kids are gonna take advantage of their dad being gone. That’s exactly what they’re planning to do. But then she takes it too far and holds on too hard, treating them like they’re 10 rather than 16 and 18 respectively. There’s a classic conflict here of teenagers thinking they’re more mature than they really are, versus their family knowing they’re still kids but treating them like outright children instead of meeting them where they are. And I think it’s harder for her to accept they’re growing up than it is for Robby Ray because she isn’t around very much to see it happening. While she recognizes in the end that they had good reason to be embarrassed, that theme of holding on to how things were because she’s afraid of losing them seems to be a consistent one with her in later seasons.
“I Am Mamaw, Hear Me Roar!” (Season Four)
First off, I just want to say that I think having a Dolly episode and a Mamaw episode after “I’ll Always Remember You,” and right after each other, was a really smart choice, especially the way they did it. Dolly can help her embrace what it’s like to be all-celebrity, all the time, and Mamaw reminds her not to forget her family, and how hard that kind of life can actually be. Not just for Miley, but for the people around her. They just tie really well into that whole, “She’s always had the best of both worlds, but now she’s gotta learn what living without her secret feels like” theme that late stage Season 4 has going for it.
One thing that always strikes me about this episode is how it puts so much of her actions in context, not just in this episode, but retroactively. Of course Robby Ray forgot to visit her when he was younger and his own music career was in full swing. Of course she would panic when the same seems to be happening to Miley, when they can’t take one picture or have one tea without Miley getting hounded by her fans, because she doesn’t have Hannah Montana to hide behind anymore. (Of course, I’m not so sure the timeline adds up there, but I’m gonna let that go because of the point it was trying to make.) Being smacked in the face with Miley’s fame is really a wakeup call for all of them, but that makes Miley’s efforts to make sure Mamaw understands how much she cares all the more sweet.
“Good Golly, Miss Dolly” (Season One)
I’d initially put “Kiss It Goodbye” here, but I switched them when I realized I was underrating it— that episode was better than I remembered. But I like this one, too!
This is Dolly’s first appearance and introduction, and she comes in with a bang. The frou-frou, the flowers, and of course, the infamous camera that kickstarts the conflict of the episode. Well, sort of— the real conflict is Miley’s confused feelings for Jake Ryan, torn between “falling all over him,” playing hard to get, and not wanting to give him the satisfaction of seeing her vulnerable. The way it ends up intersecting with Oliver’s subplot of trying to compile a goodbye video for the principal is brilliant, and that sneaking scene? Just amazing.
Of course, this puts her right back where she started, and she ends up regretting it when it’s seemingly too late for her and Jake, but her ripping up the flowers is funny, and then Dolly gets to show off her singing chops a little when she and Robby Ray cheer her up in a really sweet scene. Beyond that, the subplot is… fine. It’s pretty forgettable, but I liked it okay. It’s not frustrating like some of the subplots in previous episodes on this list, but not quite as awesome as…
#3: “Kiss It Goodbye” (Season Four)
And with that, we’ve cracked the top three! This one surprised me upon rewatch. I knew I liked it, I just didn’t know how much I liked it until I saw it again. I think part of it might be me attributing some of my own feelings about Cancel Culture as a whole and how that’s affected us for the worse overall, celebrity or not, as well as some meta-significance to Miley’s career, both at the time and afterwards. But let me get into the episode itself rather than getting on those tangents.
Miley starts off being a little careless with her image… but this is understandable, as she’s used to having her privacy, and living without it’s gonna take some getting used to. Dolly has this legendary entrance in a personalized helicopter, complete with a pink ladder. She uses her own know-how about fame to help Miley navigate the paparazzi, reassures her after a brutal interview with Colin Lassiter, and then encourages both her and Robby Ray to sing with her at her performance. While both of them object at first, Robby Ray eventually gets up the courage to go… which is the push Miley needs to get past her fears and get back on the horse herself.
Beyond the main plotline and overall message that I love, it’s really quotable, and has one of the best subplots this show has ever had. Rico goes practically catatonic because the Stewarts, a family of “idiots” he looks down upon, fooled him, an evil genius with an ego that can’t handle that. I also like that we see Lilly’s compassionate side coming back in this episode in both plotlines, it’s the one thing I felt season 4’s Lilly was lacking overall, and it was fun to see her point her sharp tongue towards herself for once this season. And of course, Jackson enjoying Rico’s suffering, but ultimately being the one to help him out of it was perfect, and bringing back the choir from earlier that season was even better.
#2: “I Will Always Loathe You” (Season Two)
Before anyone gets mad that this wasn’t my #1 pick, let me just say for the record that this episode is AWESOME. Mamaw and Dolly’s rivalry is so explosive and they play off each other so beautifully, and the culmination of that into the “Granny Smackdown” is so well-done. And look, yeah, I know that there were stunt doubles and probably a mannequin or two involved, but I don’t care, it’s a fantastic scene. I love Robby Ray trying to make peace and ending up getting dragged into it, I love Hannah Montana awkwardly trying to salvage the situation, and ultimately breaking them up, and I love Jackson and Lilly scarfing down popcorn and watching the whole thing unfold from home.
If I had to pick which one of these episodes was the funniest, it would be this one, no contest. The subplot here is great too; simple yes, but I think the simplicity works in contrast to just how much is going on in the main plot, and Oliver’s shame at his own involvement in the end? Wonderful. The contrast between the two women picking clothes for Miley’s award show, and the decision to genuinely make up after seeing how much it hurt Miley were executed beautifully too. We don’t get the sense that they’re going to be BFFs, but I do like that the ending scene shows promise, that they’re at least capable of getting along, when they want to. As Miley says, “You’re trying. That is all I’ve ever wanted.”
So yeah, this episode? Amazing. But… not quite my favorite.
#1: “Grandmas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Play Favorites” (Season One)
Remember when I said I’m a sucker for Miley/Jackson centrics? Yeah. This episode was probably where all of that began for me. (Also the beginning of my feelings about Jackson going from “oh he’s pretty funny” to “LET ME LOVE YOU,” but I’ll try to keep my stanning to a minimum here.)
We start off with what appears to be a fairly straightforward story. Hannah Montana is meeting the queen. Jackson has a volleyball game. Mamaw’s coming to visit, and she’s critical of Robby Ray, particularly his eating habits, she’s tepidly nice to Miley, but treats her as an afterthought, and she heaps praise and adoration and attention onto Jackson by the bucketload. On the surface, it seems that this is about Mamaw unfairly favoring Jackson over Miley. Right up until this happens:
“She’s gonna insult the queen and ruin my command performance all because of her ‘little Jackson.’ It’s always about you!”
“Me?! Well, it’s never about me! Everything in this family revolves around you!”
One comeback, and the tables are turned. Yes, Mamaw hasn’t treated Hannah Montana getting to sing for the Queen of England with the respect and admiration it deserves. But Robby Ray and Miley haven’t been treating Jackson with the respect and admiration he deserves. When Miley snarks that Mamaw would rather go to Jackson’s volleyball game than her performance, she responds with, “Well, if I don’t, who will? I don’t see either one of you heading for the door.” She doesn’t ignore Miley because she loves her any less. In an ironic turn of events, the reason she ignores Miley isn’t about her at all.
I do like, though, that the episode doesn’t treat this as “two wrongs make a right.” Mamaw still apologizes for making Miley feel “invisible,” like her accomplishments don’t matter, like she doesn’t care. Jackson feeling invisible because his dad and his sister and the whole rest of the world treat him that way, doesn’t excuse Mamaw treating Miley that way. And the fact that all of it’s unintentional, and that the neglect is coming from someone who does, genuinely, love that person, doesn’t erase the harm it causes. This is a lesson for both of them, and Miley comes away with a greater understanding of what her brother goes through.
There is still a part of me that wishes this had gotten elaborated on more in the show? Not that Jackson doesn’t bring up the favoritism issue multiple times afterward, but it’s not treated seriously very often after this, considering how often it comes up. It saddens me to think that, for all the efforts they make in this episode to make sure they’re there for Jackson in the end, Miley and Robby Ray still end up falling into the same patterns with Jackson as the show goes on, and worse. I can’t help but think this pattern of neglect and Jackson’s deterioration into “the family failure” are related, and while I don’t need every single episode to treat it as A Big Deal, the truth is, it is a big deal, and I wish the show had been more consistent in actually taking it seriously.
So that’s my list! In the end, I think we can all agree Mamaw and Dolly are both pretty iconic characters, and made the show all the richer for being on it. I’ve loved getting a chance to look at their episodes again, and make sure to stay tuned for my next Ranked post for this series, where I may be talking about another iconic recurring character on this show…. (Hint: one of these episodes is on that list, too.) Until next time!

Wishing On a Star-Hannah Montana x Fem!Sister!Reader
Miley makes a wish on a star but when it affects her sister, will it become more than she bargained for?
Check out my Masterlist here!
If you want to Request, find out what/who I write for here!
Requested by Ab1nsur
Hello! Thank you for your request! I apologize that it took me a while to get to it but here it is! This also doesn’t follow the episode completely but I think it’s still cohesive! I hope you enjoy it!
Riley’s POV
I glanced up from my book at my fraternal twin as she glared at the worm she held in her hand. “You know glaring at that worm won’t change the fact that you had to give up your date with Jesse” I piped up, turning the page of my book. Miley turned her glare from the worm to me. “Just because you’re right doesn’t mean you’re helpful” She pouted before setting the worm back into the habitat. Miley stood up and walked to the balcony causing me to mark my place and follow her. She looked up at the sky and sighed, leaning her head on my shoulder. “You know, sometimes I wish I didn’t have to live this double life. That I could be Hannah Montana all the time.” I sighed at her words, “I know Miles, but wouldn’t that be hard? You’d have no secrecy and no privacy.” I retaliated. “It’d be better than having to miss out on stuff for one identity because the other promised to do something else.”
At this point Lily had joined us on the balcony. “Look guys! A shooting star!” She said, pointing up to the sky. “I wish for an A on the project. What do you wish for?” Miley stared at the star as she wished, “I wish I could be Hannah Montana all the time. No double life.” I rolled my eyes at her wish. I didn’t wish for anything out loud, but in my head I wished. ‘I wish that Miley would see how stupid her wish is.’ I mean I love my sister but I don’t realize what she’s asking for. “Let’s get back to the project.”
*Time Skip and a POV Change*
Hannah Montana’s (Miley’s) POV
THIS IS THE GREATEST WISH EVER! Wishing to be Hannah Montana all the time was probably the smartest thing I could have ever asked for. I mean, cake for breakfast, no school, and Jesse McCartmey is my boyfriend! Other than my dad’s new wife, who I’m not a fan of, I am living the life. Wait, Dad’s here, where are my siblings? “Roxy, where are Jackson and Riley?” Roxy let out a chuckle and snapped her fingers.
Next thing I knew we were on the beach. “You’re brother became a hermit that lives on the beach. Riley worked for you a bit and once she saved up a bunch of money, she moved out and lives in a small house on the beach. She and Jackson are really close, They bonded over the shared experience of people using them to get closer to you.” Roxy explained, looking over at Jackson where he was using a metal detector and Riley who was sitting on a stool at the counter of the Surf Shack.
Before I could say anything else, Amber, Ashley, and another girl dressed in pink approached Riley. Wait, that other girl… It’s Lily. “Wait. I never went to public school. I never met Lily. She fell in with Amber and Ashley?” I questioned incredulously. Roxy just nodded. “You know you’d be a lot prettier if you wore some makeup.” Ashley stated snottily to Riley. Riley turned around in her seat and raised an eyebrow at the three girls. “What are you even talking about. Lily elbowed Ashley before taking the lead, “What Ashely meant to say is that we would love to give you a makeover.” Riley let out a huge laugh, “Yeah right! I’d love to see you try.”
A smile crept onto my face as Riley began her refusal. Riley had always been a tomboy in her personality and her style. She would never willingly get a makeover, especially by Amber and Ashley. Amber pulled out her makeup bag and then pulled out some makeup and walked a little bit closer to Riley. “Come on it will be fun!” Amber explained, extending her arm out to Riley. Riley leaned back away from the girls. “I’m not kidding, stay away from me or else. You’ll regret it! Don’t you dare!” The girls didn’t back away, instead Amber passed the brushes off to Lily and Amber and Ashley reached down and pinned Riley’s arms to her side.
Lily rushed forward and began beating her face with makeup. “Get off of me!” Riley exclaimed from her spot in the chair. “Stop it! I’m going to kill you guys!” I was just about to step forward and pull the girls off, but Lily pulled back. I have to admit, Riley looked great. But it so wasn’t her. Lily held out a mirror and let Riley look at what Lily had done already. I grinned in anticipation. Riley was going to scream. She’d hate it and demand they take it off. At least one thing would stay the same. “Oh. My. Gosh.” Riley stated. Here we go. “I love it!” There it--WHAT? The smile fell off of my face. Riley was supposed to hate this. “Please! Don’t stop! Do more! Make me pretty, please!” Riley begged the girls. The three of them grinned at Riley’s words and Lily went back in and began to do even more makeup.
I let out an aggravated scream before marching over to the girls and pulled Lily off Riley myself. “No! No no no! This is all wrong! Riley you’d never like this! This isn’t you!” Riley had a shocked look on her face, but it quickly dissolved into annoyance. “You have no idea what is me anymore Hannah. You lost that right a while ago. Now leave me alone!” Riley exclaimed, turning back to Lily, but Lily’s attention shifted to me. “Oh my gosh! You’re Hannah Montana!” It seemed that everybody on the beach’s attention shifted to me and everyone ran toward me. “Roxy!” I exclaimed before I was suddenly transported back to my house.
“Thanks for that.” I thanked glumly. “I changed my mind. This isn’t awesome anymore. I wish for things to go back to normal” I exclaimed to Roxy. Roxy shrugged her shoulders, “Sorry hun, one wish per customer. Which means you’re stuck like this, unless you can find a loophole.” Without another word, Roxy disappeared from in front of me. I let out a little cry before rushing off to my room.
I threw myself down on the bed and sighed. I don’t want to be in this world anymore. I want to go back to being Miley and Hannah. I want my identity back. I laid there for a few hours before I rolled over and off of my bed before walking out onto my balcony. “Why did I ever make that stupid wish? I hate my life.” I berated myself. “Well that makes two of us!” I jumped at the sound of Jackson’s voice. I turned around and found him sitting on my roof watching TV, “Three” I jumped again at the sound of Riley’s voice. She was sitting in one of my chairs, her face bare of the makeup that the girls put on her. “Jackson! Riley! You guys came back.” I exclaimed. Jackson hopped off the roof and Riley stood up, “Well yeah, I still need my reality TV!” He exclaimed. “And I come to keep him company,” Riley supplied. “Your face! It’s back to normal!” I exclaimed. Riley half shrugged and looked out to the sky, “Yeah, well it wasn’t really me. So I took it off.”
A huge smile came over my face, “I’m just so happy you guys came back! Welcome home!” I exclaimed wrapping my arms around the two of them, but in unison they pushed me off. “We are not coming home!” Riley told me. “But I want some of my old life back. We weren’t perfect but it was ours and I had great friends and no evil stepmom. And no one knew that I was Hannah Montana.” Jackson let out a scoff, “A world where no one knew that you were Hannah Montana. I would wish for that anyday.” I let out a sigh and looked up at the sky and was shocked by the sight of a shooting star. “Angel! Roxy! Jackson did it. He wished for my old world. That has to count for something!” I exclaimed looking around. A bright light surrounded Jackson and he transformed into my angel. “You found the loophole, congratulations! You have yourself a wonderful life, Miley.” Roxy then snapped.
Light surrounded me and I was back on the balcony with my head on Riley’s shoulder standing next to Lily and looking up at the night sky, watching the shooting star pass by. “Look guys! A shooting star!” She said, pointing up to the sky. “I wish for an A on the project. What do you wish for?” I took a breath before saying, “I don’t wish for anything. I love my life exactly the way it is.” Riley raised and eyebrow and looked down at me, “You were just complaining about your life, now you want nothing to change.” I shrugged and looked up at her face, bare of makeup, “I had a change of a heart” Riley let out a laugh but smiled. “Well okay then. I wish for a million dollars.” Riley’s wish caused us all to laugh out loud. “Come on guys. Let’s get back to our project.”
Any there you have it! Please like and reblog if you enjoyed, or give me some constructive criticism! I’d appreciate it! Thank you!

What's the last thing that scratched you? I dunno, maybe Cooper? He’s the only one I get accidental scratches from these days.
Have you ever seen any of your friends' bums? No.
Is silence peaceful or eerie? I’ve never found it eerie, but silence can be dangerous and uncomfortable esepecially if I’m not feeling mentally fine.
Do you try to use different vocabulary? Not really, unless I’m at work since I write a lot of the same stuff everyday and so there’s a need to change up the vocab every once in a while.
If someone you loved was murdered, would you want to know how? I have no idea, honestly. Where I’m at right now, I wouldn’t want to.
How would you react if all the mascaras in the world vanished? I wouldn’t even notice it. What a random question.
Did you have toys all over your room as a child? Yeah, and quite literally too; I never did learn to pick up on my mom’s million reminders to clean up when I’m done playing.
Do you think Miley Cyrus is a good actress/singer or just awful? I’ve never seen her acting work other than Hannah Montana, but I do like her music. Like I haven’t listened to every song, but the singles she’s put out and the ones I catch on the radio have been catchy – I was and still am obsessed with Slide Away, and these days I’m also into Prisoner.
What's with all these Family stars lately? I have no clue what this question is about.
Does watching the news upset you? I’m quite desensitized to it now, but that’s not to say news these days are pleasant to hear. Hearing about Ukraine is shitty, and hearing about the insane rise in gas prices is shitty, and how a lot of jeepney drivers have stopped driving and taking in passengers since they’d work at a loss anyway is, too.
What mark did you get on the last test/project/etc you got back? I got like a 96/100 on my Korean finals, back when I took that online class in June. I never did apply for the Beginner 2 class after that, come to think of it.
Do you know anybody with naturally bright red hair? No. I barely know anyone with natural hair that isn’t black.
Have you ever heard of the magazine J-14? Yep. I believe my dad got me a couple of issues of those when I used to be into Twilight and One Direction, back when he was based in the States for work.
Does/did your school have a spirit week? I have no idea what that is?
Do/did you participate in it? We didn’t have that.
Is the plural of octopus octopi? Yeah. Though I would personally use octopuses if talking about different species, the way rules are in place for fish.
When is the last time you said 'but'? I dunno. I haven’t spoken in at least a couple of hours since everyone is settled in their rooms now (it’s 11:46 PM), but I imagine it would’ve been fairly recently since this is a common word.
Does your best friend have any piercings? Angela does. I’m not sure if Andi does, actually.
Can you hear anyone talking right now? I’m listening to the latest episode of Chris Jericho’s podcast with William Regal.
Are there any bibles in your house? I believe so. No idea where it is, though.
What do you use to carry your things around in? (Purse, pocket, tote bag etc) Either a shoulder bag or a tote bag.
Is the ringer of your phone loud? Yeah it can be if I set it at the maximum volume. It’s never at that level though. My phone is almost exclusively on silent and vibrate.
What are baby cows called? Calf. < There we go, then.
What about baby geese? Isn’t it gosling? Shoutout to the stacks of kid’s almanacs I used to own, haha.
Are there any high heel shoes in your house? Yeah, probably a couple. I know I own at least a pair, which I’ve used for debuts and parties and such.
What are cuter: poodles or German Shepherds? The original spelling on this question was absolutely atrocious. Anyway, I like both breeds and I don’t really have a preference on who’s ‘cuter.’
How many things are saved in your favorites? What kind of favorites?
^ Name any three of them. I’d share if I only knew what you were talking about :(
What color is your favorite pair of pants? Blue.
Moose, mooses, meese or meesi? I would use moose.
Have you ever liked someone for over a year? Sure.
^Did they know or not? Did they return the feelings? Uh, yeah, until they didn’t.
How many pairs of shoes are/were kept in your locker? Like, my school locker? I never kept shoes in it; that sounds so weird. Do students in other countries do that, and why would they need to keep shoes?
What is the mushiest and most romantic thing someone has ever done for you? Honest to god I have no idea, my dude. I’ve blocked off 98% of my memories with the person I used to be with. I have no plans to unpack them just for this question, either.
^Did you enjoy it? Hypothetical answer in mind, I know I did at the time. What is shepherd’s pie made out of? Horrendous spelling again; I guess survey-maker just really struggled with the word shephered hahah. Anyway, I have no idea.
Do you like watching spoofs? I mean I’d never seek them out but if I come across one and it’s spoofing something I’m familiar with, I’d sit in and watch and will likely be entertained.
Who would you love to trade wardrobes with? Blanking out. I have no interest in anyone’s wardrobe, tbh.
What's better: an apology to your face or a nice apology letter? I guess it depends. If it were a close family member or a significant other, I’d be really pissed off if they wrote me a letter lmfao. But if the relationship had a bit of distance, like a co-worker or whatever, a letter would suffice.
What do you do when there's something in your eye? I’d try to get it out with a finger, or just blink it away.
Can you see any dust on anything from where you are? No, my parents clean the dining table every evening.
Do you ever spit off bridges onto the things below? That’s so gross. I’d never do that and I never even spit, lol. I hate the feeling and sound of hawking.
Has anyone ever kissed you when you REALLY weren't expecting it? Uhm, probably, in the past.
^Was it a good random kiss, or a bad random kiss? Well I’ve never kissed without my consent, that’s for sure.
Is/was your locker clean? Mine was just a messy stack of my textbooks.
Who was the last person to give you money? My dad, since I needed cash to give a delivery guy a tip. I immediately paid it back digitally, though.
How much was it? ₱100.
What is the last thing you got a blister from? I have not gotten a blister in the longest time, actually. What a relief to know lol.
Do you know who Reggie Mantle is? No. As an outsider, though, he sounds like a baseball player HAHA
What color is your country's flag? Your state's/province's? Blue, red, yellow, white. If my province happens to have a flag, I have no idea what its colors are nor do I have the slightest idea what it looks like.
Have you ever ruined someone's relationship? Uh, not to my knowledge at least. Do you remember the song that used to be really popular, 'She will be loved'? Yes. I still don’t know what it’s about but I sing along anyway.
What is the last thing you used construction paper for? No clue, maybe some art project in like grade school or high school.
How many spoons are in the kitchen? I dunno, maybe ten, along with ten forks? We’re only five at home but we have a few extras in case visitors come over.
About how big would someone's belly be if she was 5 months pregnant? I don’t know. I don’t encounter lots of pregnant women to know haha.
Are there any framed pictures of yourself around? Yep, both by the stairs and in my room.
Do you think that people in Newfoundland live in igloos? I dunno.
How much is a can of pop at the nearest store? I never buy soda so I’ve never had an idea about their usual price.
Has anyone ever told you they were in love with you, then cheated on you? No. At least I don’t think so.
Do you use coasters? Nah, not really.
Do you shake your hips when you dance? Not really, I don’t think. What number is this question? No idea. Starting to regret taking this survey...
Do you have any friends who have never seen you makeup-free? I have more friends who have never seen me with makeup, that I’m sure of.
Do you know anyone with freakishly big ears? Hmm, I don’t think so.
Whose the last person to disappoint you? One of my aunts who made a terrible first impression on my favorite cousin’s girlfriend, when they met for the first time recently. She literally went ahead and started a heated conversation on politics well knowing they were on different sides...like who does that?
Do you deal with deaths well? The thing about death is it’s showed me that the world doesn’t stop for anyone and in the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t give a shit about you. When my first big experience came with my grandpa’s death, I was expected to take an algebra exam the day after, and the UPCAT a week after. I was literally studying at his wake because I didn’t have a choice. Anyway, that really hardened up everything in me when it came to death. I’ll probably be the same for any other deaths in the future.
What will you be doing an hour from now? I wanna take a shitload of surveys tonight dude so I’ll probably still be on here, lol.
Do you feel comfortable changing out in the open in changing rooms? This doesn’t make sense. Don’t fitting rooms have individual cubicle thingies and have locks on them?
Is it annoying when people post their drama all over facebook? Well, I mean not always. Sometimes I’ll scroll through arguments LOL
Do you say 'plushie' or 'stuffed toy'? I interchange.
Have you ever volonteered at an animal shelter? No. I’d love to try it out, though!
What is the worst thing that could happen to you? Er, die would be the immediate first thing to come to mind.
Do you have a playlist made on youtube? No.
Does buying people's things second-hand gross you out? If it were clothes then yeah. But I have bought a bunch of K-Pop merch that were previously owned, as long as the quality is still good as new. I don’t take anything with dents or folded/creased plastic.

Fandom is for everyone (except people who don’t respect unspoken fandom rules)
As someone who was on the internet at a stupidly young age and watched social media begin to form in the way we know it now (more specifically, fandoms on social media), and someone whose parents didn’t do a great job at making sure I was being safe on the internet (even now, as people who have had iPhones since 2012-ish, they don’t understand technology very much), I feel pretty qualified to talk about this topic.
For as long as I can remember, I have been a "fangirl." My first real concert was the Jonas Brothers when I was 6 and I showed up in a head-to-toe Jonas Brothers outfit. All of my school supplies had their faces on them, I owned like four of the same shirts because they came in different colors. My walls were covered in posters. This translated to Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana, and later to Big Time Rush, Youtubers, and now, for the most part, TV shows and actors. I'm someone who gets hyper-fixated on things, so it's easy for me to let my life become engulfed in fandoms. But fandom spaces on the internet have transformed from something I loved to something I avoid at all costs. It's pretty obvious that at some point within the last few years, fandom has become less about community and more about weird hive-mind behavior, performance activism, and pseudo friendships with the people the fandom is for, especially when the fandom centers around real people. Now, I think that the rise of content creators as "celebrities" is the point that flipped the narrative. The close connection these CC's created with their community, typically beginning when they were small enough to be able to do that, created this weird sense of entitlement within fandom spaces. This is especially true in streamer spaces, as there is a lot of interaction between the fans and the creators. They lost the sense of community when self-entitled bullies took over. As someone who has been in fandoms for as long as I can remember (seriously, I had Dance Moms Instagram/Twitter fan pages. I’ve been here for too long), I obviously understand how it feels to be acknowledged by your favorite people, whether a singer, creator, actor, etc. It’s validating and it’s special. But it’s important to remember that they are real people and deserve respect as all people do. And it’s also important to remember that fandoms aren’t about validation, they’re about celebration and community. I met my best friend on Instagram through our Big Time Rush fan pages when I was 12. I’m 21 now. I still follow people on twitter that I met three fandoms ago. I bonded with my irl friends over fandoms. Does it feel great when my faves recognize me or acknowledge me? Yes, absolutely. But that’s not the reason I’m in fandoms. I don’t interact in fandom spaces much anymore; there’s too much negativity and I just don’t have the energy to sift through it anymore. What once was a space that celebrated everything and had intelligent discourse became a high school cafeteria, loaded with "popular" bullies who put down anyone who has a differing opinion than them. I remember when fan accounts first started to appear on social media. It was something we did our best to hide from the people it was about because we were terrified to accidentally make them uncomfortable. We did the work to find a healthy balance, and now all of that work is being ignored because people feel entitled to their faves attention… and that’s weird. Some basic rules I think people need to be reminded of: 1. Fandom is for everyone, whether or not you have the same opinions. Fandom is about respecting everyone and celebrating the beauty of perspectives 2. Privacy still exists. Even if something is “public knowledge.” If the person involved didn’t put it out there, its none of your fucking business 3. Stop tagging people in things they may be uncomfortable with. 4. People are allowed to have opinions, and as long as they’re keeping those opinions in their little fandom bubble, leave the alone. If you don’t like it, block them. You’re not going to get a cookie for defending your fave from something they probably don’t even have a problem with 5. It’s okay to call your fave out for problematic behavior, and it’s okay to allow your fave to learn and grow from their mistakes. They’re not perfect, stop putting them on a pedestal. 6. For some people, fandom is about escapism. Respect that. Stop forcing performance activism on people. More often than not, fandoms focused on real people are about grown ass adults. I promise you, they don’t need an army on the bird app defending their honor. If they have a problem, they have a voice and they can use it. You’re causing more problems and putting more attention on things by throwing a hissy fit. I don’t know what you expect them to do. This isn’t 2010 Wattpad fanfiction—they’re not going to see you defending them and fly to your house to marry you. There’s a difference between someone doing something extremely damaging (i.e., leaking personal information) and having a different opinion than you. The bottom line is that everyone is going to experience a fandom in a different way. People have different experiences and lives and views. All of those things will shape how a person sees others. And that’s a good thing. If everyone had the same fandom view, it wouldn’t be interesting. You would be able to follow one account and get all of the content you need. But that’s no fun. It’s so much more fun to have a well-rounded experience that is shaped and full of various views and ideas. Expecting everyone to have the same fandom experience as you and condemning them when they don’t is ruining the fandom experience for everyone. Treat people with kindness. Tailor your fandom experience by blocking/muting/unfollowing people you don’t want to see. And mind your fucking business. I promise you, you’ll have a better time in a fandom if you stop being so concerned about everyone else and just dive into your love and enjoyment of something. To conclude, stop ruining fandom spaces with your sense of entitlement and brown-nosing and just let people enjoy something while the world continues to implode on itself at an alarming rate.
TL/DR: mind your fucking business and leave people alone (as long as theyre being respectful and keeping discourse out of tags/mentions

Please remember these essays are intended to be shitty. I was tired, not really dedicated to making a good essay, and I am not good at writing essays. (I will reblog this with each one to not make a post way too long)
“Hannah Montana:” the Effects of Living a Double Life
“Hannah Montana” may be a silly movie designed for a very young audience, but its message can remind everyone of some important things. In the beginning, she’s lost herself in the part she gets to play. By being sent home, she has to learn to make the two coexist. However, after one finally gets to shine, the other must come in, bringing disaster with it. In the end, she finds equilibrium, with the support of those around her. Miley finds that to be truly happy, she has to love both her roots and the person they’ve shaped her into.
Everyone says that they miss the “old Miley,” but she isn’t sure what they mean by that. Her grandmother states, “I just miss my Miley,” and when she responds, “Why does everyone keep saying that,” her grandmother returns, “Maybe you should be asking yourself that question.” (30:43) She doesn’t realize how polarized she’s become from who she was before she started moonlighting as a popular singer, even though it’s evident to everyone around her. Although she looks back on her country roots with fondness, she doesn’t feel the same sense of belonging there that she used to. To everyone around her, it’s apparent how much she’s changed, but she really has no idea.
When Miley is forced to spend two weeks in the country with her family, she struggles with leaving behind her other persona. On her first day back, she tries to feed the chickens, as a way of proving that she still is in touch with who she used to be. She does this in hopes that her dad will reconsider and decide being Hannah on the side hasn’t really changed her. While she first feels like she’s got the hang of it, it all goes horribly wrong. It turns out that she’s lost a lot more of her old life than she thought.
As soon as she begins to get used to it, she’s forced to bring in her alter ego. She hopes the two can coexist, but they are at odds, pulling each other apart. Instead of having the best of the worlds, she is crushed by both. She realizes that it’s too hard for her to juggle the responsibilities each one has, and regrets her decisions. It turns out to be not quite the exciting balancing act she imagined pulling off.
She ends up coming clean, and by showing everyone who she’s always been while onstage in front of her hometown she gains their support. Although she initially expects to give up Hannah Montana, her town is nothing but supportive, promising to keep her secret. With them assisting her, she finishes the concert, showing that dreams really can come true, if only you keep on climbing. From her trip home, she’s reminded of her roots, and learns to find a more harmonious balance between the two parts of herself.
By staying true to her roots, yet still letting her alter ego shine, she finds a balance that makes her happy. At first she doesn’t understand how much she’s lost touch, and once she does it’s hard for her to find herself again. Yet when she does, she has to coexist with both who she’s become and who she’s always been. With those she loves, she finds she can. This movie illustrates how it’s important to return to one’s roots, but it’s still important to acknowledge that one has changed.

I watched the very first episode of Hannah Montana again after 14 years.
Ohh, I remember everything so clearly. I remember the feeling I had when I was 8 years old. The excitement, the thrill, the passion, the dream, the vision, the jealousy, and of course, the fangirling.
This quarantine really has rethinking what I want and I had to go back to my childhood, when I dream that I could be anything I ever want to be. The last 2 nights, I made a playlist of everything I listened to and reminds of my childhood. It got me thinking that maybe I should rewatch the shows since I never really knew how it all ended. I think it was last month when I watched all the Victorious episodes (aside from the iCarly crossover since it was considered an iCarly episode) and it really made me rethink my entire existence. However, tonight, I begin with Hannah Montana, my ultimate favorite show when I was young.
I remember in the past, maybe back in high school, I thought of watching the whole Hannah Montana franchise but I didn't go through with it since the show is still kind of fresh in my memory, maybe except the last season, but I definitely remember trying to watch the 3D concert at home. I even waited for the exact time for it to air only to be disappointed as I did not know what 3D meant but I as soon as I looked it up online, I guess I needed to buy something and the box was the DIY 3D glasses. I was so mad and sad during that moment because I guess it was only available in the US or our country's capital which I am far from. I even looked up how to make my own DIY 3D glasses and the results telling me to take red and blue cellophane which I have none in my house at the time. I ended just watching a few minutes of the concert and just listening to some of it because I was so disappointed and sad. I'm not quite sure if they had a rerun but I was too bummed out that I waited for the premiere and not being able to watch it. I also remember, I was still in grade school when The Hannah Montana: The Movie premiered and I told my family I have to watch it no matter what. I did watch it and I enjoyed it so much. I was a bit confused as to where she is in her journey because the Disney before didn't tell us when they'll drop a new episode so I kept just watching reruns and eventually moved to other shows. But, I was excited and happy that I got to watch the movie in the theatres to make up for the whole shebang for the 3D concert. I also remember performing Best of Both Worlds in front of my entire elementary school for P.E. and I didn't care if nobody knows the song, I was truly living the Hannah Montana life during that 2 minutes and 54 seconds. I was moving like how she did and dancing like I was her. It was truly magical.
Watching the very first episode again tonight, it felt like I was still the 8 year old girl who hoped to be like Hannah Montana in the future. All the feelings I had when I was just a little girl, I felt it all. I got excited when I see all the cast that I loved and made my entire childhood great. Seeing Miley Stewart enjoying a normal life at school and hanging out with her best friends, Lily and Oliver and having a double life, having a great time on stage, singing as Hannah Montana. I was so amazed at her that she was able to to that but also jealous because I wanted to be her. She was the first person I really stanned and still do. Of course, when I got older, I learned that they were actors and not what I saw was real. I followed the real actors, mostly just Miley Cyrus and I loved her since then. As a child, I didn't really know why Miley Stewart was struggling so much to keep her normal life. I thought the same way Lily did in the first episode and wondered why she wouldn't just want to be known as Hannah Montana. I was, and I guess I still am but for more artists now, a Lily and Oliver. I am a big fan. Looking back, I think that's where my fangirling started and where I actually got it from. Don't get me wrong, I still would wish to be Miley Stewart and Hannah Montana but after seeing Miley Cyrus grow up and navigate her life, I may have second thoughts before having my wish granted.
Nonetheless, Hannah Montana, the character and the show, has given me a lot of strength and confidence. They gave me wonderful stories to relate to, to admire, and to hope to experience in the future, the iconic songs and music that will forever move my heart and bring memories that I'll forever hold dearly.
I am only in the first episode and I'm already feeling a lot of emotions. I hope as I continue, I'll also be able to navigate my life and have a clearer vision of who I am and I what I want in life.
