I need to go to the gym, but I don’t wanna so here are some batfam workout hcs that were made purely to procrastinate
Dick is a calisthenics guy 100%, and he is pretentious about it to his family and other heroes (ie: doing handstands during team meetings or just hitting a pose somebody with a spine should never do just to rub his flexibilty in Bruce *cannot touch his toes* Wayne’s face)
However he also believes in having fun while exercising and so Dick pays extra at his gym to attend every single group workout class they offer from yoga to cycling circuit, to aqua zumba, he’s always the youngest and only male to ever attend any of the classes but he likes them and the old ladies there always offer the best gossip in Gotham
Nightwing also swears by cardio drumming techniques when beating ppl up with his escrima sticks
Jason is the opposite of Dick, he simply doesn’t work out
Or he claims he doesn’t
He claims that his muscles are just genetics, and that he’s always been more athletic and muscular and that’s how he survived in crime alley as a kid
Tim calls bull and says that it was probably some Lazarus pit magic which Damian disproves claiming that that’s not how the pit works and that Todd is just some sort of genetic anomaly
In reality Jason has muscles because he doesn’t own a car or a butler. His bike is used exclusively by red hood as any civilian with a bike that expensive is a walking target and he cannot be bothered.
This leads to his primary mode of transportation being his feet, he doesn’t trust Gotham public transit to get him to where he needs in a timely manner so he walks/runs everywhere occasionally scaling a rooftop or two as a shortcut, he’s been doing this since he was a kid pre Batman so he’s quite used to it.
His suit and guns are also significantly heavier then the other bat’s suits and weapons which also gives him the extra muscle despite “not working out”
Tim also doesn’t work out, but he genuinely doesn’t work out outside of being Red Robin, which is honestly a workout in itself
His strength and endurance typically comes from a mix of adrenaline, high pain tolerance, and stubbornness, that help him pull off inhumane feats
It is also a recipe for injury which Bruce has stressed multiple times but Tim believes that as long as he stretches he’ll be fine,
He is not fine and god knows his bones and joints snap, crackle, and pop all the time but his nighttime extracurriculars are enough to keep him toned and in shape
On rare occasions he will be spotted in a gym either productively with Steph and Duke or competitively with Damian
Damian’s “workouts”which he firmly refers to as training typically consists of sparring nonstop along with practicing martial arts
He spends hours demolishing training dummies and punching bags to get his blood flowing, but he’s not allowed to train outside of the cave as his exercises has cost Alfred far too much property damage. Alfred mourns the loss of his meticulously crafted shrubbery to this day.
Damian’s also really competitive cause he’s like 10 and he’s constantly challenging people, this however backfires when his siblings don’t go easy on him and it usually ends with him losing and sulking(a lot)
Damian’s favorite challenge, besides when one of his siblings pulls out a stopwatch and times him as he runs around to complete a random task is to do an endurance off on the stairmaster
It’s the one thing he consistently wins at regardless of his opponent. Bruce practically invented the grappling hook to prevent having to use stairs and that distain of stairs has been passed on to all of his children expect his biological one
It’s not even about the endurance, it’s more about the boredom of stair climbing, no amount of good vibes and hype songs is enough to get past more than an hour of repetitive stair climbing.
Damian however enjoys it, if he closes his eyes and zones out it brings him back to the days of the league where the architecture had hundreds of steps he was expected to climb multiple times a day and unlike most memories of the league it brings him nostalgia and peace.
Tim’s gotten the closest to beating Damian on the stairmaster with a completely different approach of pretending he’s climbing the staircase to heaven, no he doesn’t really believe in heaven or god but he sure as hell will not let his inability to climb stairs be the reason he can’t get in, he thinks of it as practice for when he dies, a contingency of sorts

my favorite headcanon to ponder is that as soon as they enter the Champions League - and it becomes official that this level of cardiovascular training is going to become Jamie's new longterm normal - Roy immediately bans him from running on pavement (so that he'll still have cartilage in his knees by age 60, and because no trainer ever cared enough to do that for Roy and he's gonna do better by Jamie if it kills him).
However...
--they can't limit all his running to a treadmill or track either, because that's a GREAT way to get hurt when he's on the pitch.
Cue a hilarious montage of Jamie biking to some park, folding the bike to carry over a shoulder while running through said park, hopping back on the bike once he reaches the road, biking until he reaches a grass/dirt track along the river, running until the dirt track runs out, biking again, etc.
Cut to a shot of Roy frowning studiously because This Isn't Working Out, before he turns to Jamie and dead-serious, he asks, "Can you run the pavement on your hands?"
And Jamie is 😭😭😭 on the inside but verbally he's just "uh....yeah! Yeah sure I mean yeah no don't think so but yeah sure yeah why not I'll give it a go?"
Cut to Jamie managing seven whole haphazard steps in a handstand before, "aiyeeee..." and a close-up of Roy cringing with his fists over his mouth.
Cut to Roy frowning studiously again. This time Jamie's got a big abrasion on his cheek. Again, deadly serious-
"Could you cartwheel the asphalt bits?"
Cut to Jamie cartwheeling over and over and over like. well, like a wheel, making good speed...
in a very much NOT straight line, until he cartwheels right into a bush.
"Well." Roy's got his studious frown, Jamie's got his scraped cheek and leaves in his hair. "I think we're out of options."
And Jamie's face falls. "Coach no. Please I can figure it out. Just need to keep trying things don't I?"
But Roy's shaking his head.
And Jamie just looks sadder and sadder, and he starts to look a little scared. "Coach really I can just run the pavement like I used to it's f-"
"Nope. I'm calling it."
We linger on Jamie's devastated face.
Quick cut to Jamie's torso. He's running on the road. He reaches the park. He runs through the park and reaches pavement again. He runs the pavement until he reaches the dirt track by the river. He runs the dirt track until it ends, transitioning straight onto the road once again. Scene cuts to him panting at Richmond Green once he's all done. He slowly straightens up, turning to Roy (who it's revealed bicycled the whole way with him) with the angriest, most murderous glare we've ever seen cross Jamie's face.
Roy breaks into his first grin of the entire montage.
We finally pan down to Jamie's feet
Tumblr media
--clad in every runner's favorite pseudo-orthopedic clown shoes. They let you run on a beautiful, cartilage-preserving cloud (edit: ASSUMING you don't immediately let your stride get sloppy, which people often do! that's important, can't believe i didn't say it initially!) and not even Jamie can make them look slick.
*This post dedicated to my own hoka-related humiliations. They're lovely at what they're designed for but oyyyye. tbf hoka does make slightly less gigantic, less hideous models (ones that visually limit themselves to the type of loud garishness that Jamie would actually probably adore). But also tbf, you KNOW Roy would insist on Jamie cycling through the dumbest, ugliest, most embarrassing, "it's yer fuckin knees, Tartt come on!" models he could find.
(Bonus: Practically overnight, Jamie suddenly becomes an expert in every dirt, grass, and otherwise natural running trail in all of London because as long as there's no concrete or asphalt anywhere on his run, he can go back to his normal low drop shoes.) (Edit: which, to reiterate, is a much better choice for both your joints and feet, than running pavement in hokas!)

thank you to @welcometololaland @strandnreyes @paperstorm @carlos-in-glasses @sanjuwrites @lemonlyman-dotcom @alrightbuckaroo @heartstringsduet for the tags <3
it occurred to me that i am planning an olympics au and this is an olympic year (aka the perfect time to post one) so i have picked this story back up as i wrap up the you saw the truth in me sequel. here's a bit of that:
“It’s not you,” Marjan says quietly. She beckons him closer so she can whisper in his ear, then continues, “He’s not really talking to any of us. We’re not sure why.” “Oh,” TK says, unsure if that makes him feel better or not. “He looks great, at least.” He’s only been back in the gym for a few months, TK knows. The recovery was long and Carlos took some time off afterward, but no one would ever know that from how comfortable he already looks. His transitions are fluid, as if he’s moving through water as he does his skills, and his handstands are perfect. TK’s never seen anyone do them better. Marjan shrugs. “He’s practically lived here for the past couple weeks. Dude doesn’t know when to quit.” That doesn’t feel particularly strange – TK’s had his own fair share of injuries, and after his last one, a strained rotator cuff, he was itching to get back into the gym. The only thing that kept him away was the doctor’s warning that reinjury would put him out of training for much longer than a few weeks. He knew he’d have his work cut out for him once he was cleared. Marjan adjusts the strap on one of her grips and nods over to the bars. “Could you spot me?” He smiles and nods, and then lets her lead him over to the chalk bucket sitting a few feet away from the bars. She starts chalking up her grips, and TK turns, as if an invisible force is pulling his focus, back to the high bar, where Carlos is swinging once again.
no pressure tagging @bonheur-cafe @lightningboltreader @reyesstrand @cold-blooded-jelly-doughnut @louis-ii-reyes-strand and anyone else who wants to share!

Hooked Pt9
I am SO SORRY! I swear I'm not dead, life got INSANE at work. Drama and sabotage at EVERY turn I SWEAR! I have been meaning to post! Not quite satisfied with the ending of this one, but I wanted to get this post out for you guys! Again, I am SO SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG
The morning found her in a secluded room, perhaps an old ballroom given how spacious it was. The attack on the mansion had been a week ago, and Hank McCoy had finally given her the all clear after she was able to spend more than a couple of hours awake at a time and her migraines had subsided; at least until their normally scheduled program of once a month. So she had decided to take advantage of a quiet, pain-free, morning and sneak off. She glanced around the room, taking in the fact that there was no furniture, and nodded to herself before she set up a portable speaker and turned on her iPod. Once her music was going, she closed her eyes and let herself fall into the familiar rhythm.
She allowed her feet to slip along the floor, spreading them farther and farther apart, until she smoothly transitioned into a split flat on the floor. She made sure her toes were pointed up, towards the ceiling, for maximum stretch; then lifted an arm above her head. Slowly, she twisted her body to lay her torso against her leg while her arm lay flat parallel to her leg on the ground. Then, she repeated the step going the opposite direction. Then, while still in a split, she stretched her arms out in front of herself, laying them flat on the ground as she stretched as far as she could go. She felt a twinge and heard a satisfying ‘pop’ sound that had her letting out a sigh of relief as pressure was released in her hips. After a few more warm-up stretches, she felt she was ready.
She closed her eyes, letting the music flow through her as her body fell into a familiar routine. Her hands went above her head, fingers splayed in something almost resembling bird wings; one leg was straight beneath her to support her weight, the other was bent at an angle, supported only on her toes. When the next song began, she flew into her routine. She danced and shimmied to the beat, feet sure and confident with every step. After a few moments of falling into the rhythm, she fell into a tumble that ended in a split. She planted her hands on the ground and used her core muscles to pull herself into a handstand where she dropped her legs into a split; so that her body made a ‘T’ shape. She drew her legs back together over her head, then ‘walked’ them back down to the ground while bending her arms to lower her upper body back to the floor. Once her chest and feet were both flat on the floor, with her feet in front of her head, she put her palms on the floor and ‘walked’ herself backwards. This caused her upper body to flip, under and then over, her lower body until she was standing once again.
The music guided her through flips, cartwheels, handsprings, back handsprings, splits and several other skills she had learned over the years, until the routine came to its natural end. It began with a running leap that led into a series of cartwheels and handsprings, one right after the other. These then culminated into a jump into the air, contorting her body into a twist and flip combo that ended with her landing on one foot, the other grasped in her hand, held high above her head. It was something far more similar to an ice-skater’s triple axel than a gymnastic move, but she had adopted it into her floor routine as a challenge to herself. Her chest was heaving, and she could feel how red her face was from all her exertion. Sweat was pouring down her face into her eyes, but she had a bright smile on her face. She held the pose for a moment, the same as she would have in a competition, then dropped her leg to the floor and went searching for something to wipe her face off with. Only to jump what felt like a mile in the air when she was met with clapping and smirking red-on-black eyes.
“Dat was damn impressive, Petite. Gambit di’n’ know you was dat flexible. He have ta keep dat in min’, oui?” He dropped a hand into the pocket of his usual trench coat as he walked closer to her. When he reached her, he pulled out a handkerchief, a gift from Jean when she had been attempting to learn sewing if her memory was correct. He took the square of soft cloth and gently dabbed sweat from her eyes, “Ain’t ne’er seen no one move li’ dat, outside da Guild, Belle. No’ e’en da ‘Sassins. Ya got skill. Woulda made a damn fine tief. Mebbe ol’ Gambit take ya ta da Dang’r Room and run ya t’rough some paces, yeah?”
She flushed from her face all the way down her neck, she hadn’t been expecting anyone to find her. But really, she should have known that Gambit would go looking for her if she up and disappeared. Ever since the attack on the mansion, Gambit had been especially attentive to anything she needed or wanted. At first, she had been worried he felt obligated or something. And his emotions had felt a little like that, an earthy musty taste on her tongue; like mushrooms or green tea. It had taken some convincing to get him to admit that he felt responsible for her injury. She had thrown half of her stuffed animals at him in retaliation for that one. But in the end, he had admitted that he cared too much about her, that seeing her injured had set his teeth on edge in all the worst ways, which was why he was so paranoid about her being out of his sight for too long. He had tried to not be too overwhelming for her, but he had admitted that it was difficult fighting his own instincts.
She shook her head at him, giving him a small, shy, smile, “I haven’t performed that routine in a long time. Actually, I haven’t performed any real routine in a long time. I’ve kept up some practice, but I am far from being on par with assassins or any of you X-Men.” She pointed out to him. It still felt strange, being able to speak freely without fear. She could still feel her power working, each and every time she vocalized anything the strange humming vibration that accompanied each sound and syllable roared to life. But once more, Gambit did not fall victim to her Song. It was the best kind of odd.
At her words, Gambit smiled, “Don’ t’ink Remy’ll e’er git use’ta dat. Hearin’ dat jolie voix.” She huffed, but he saw the smile she tried to hide. He took her hand in his, twining their fingers together, “Ya missed breakfast an’ lunch, Petite. Now, Remy’s tryin’ ta be good. He’s tryin’ ta give ya some space, le’ ya do yer own t’ing. But ya need ta eat. So, Remy’s gonna take ya ta da kitchen an’ he gonna make ya som’in so good ya ain’t gonna be able ta go wit’out, yeah?” She blinked. She hadn’t realized she had forgotten to eat, but now that Gambit had brought her attention to it, her stomach began to growl. She sheepishly rubbed at the back of her neck, “Oops. I didn’t realize. Food does sound nice though.”
“Good food, and e’en bet’r comp’ny. Sounds like a great day to ol’Remy.” He said with a smile, “An’ some good music, eh Petite?” He scooped up her speaker and turned it off as she grabbed her iPod.
“Not sure how good you’ll think it is when you hear how random it is. Think my playlist has everything from Disney to Country to Rock and Metal. ‘Bout the only thing you won’t find is Rap. Outside of Eminem anyway.” She mentioned. Once they made it to the door, however, she fell into her customary silence.
Once in the kitchen Remy put his hands on her shoulders and sweetly, but firmly, directed her to sit down on one of the barstools. She pouted slightly and typed away at her phone, “I can help you know.” “Oh, Remy know’s ya can, Petite. But ‘e promised to feed’ja. And feed’ja ‘e will. So jus’ sit dere ‘n look pretty, Petite.” She flushed, nearly dropping her phone in her embarrassment. She buried her face in her hands, hiding her face from Remy. But just because she couldn’t see him, didn’t mean she couldn’t hear him. His laugh was infectious, loud and a little wild, just like the man himself. But the joy and affection that filled the air tasted of oranges and cotton candy. It made a smile stretch across her lips against her will as his emotions influenced hers.
Remy had a cutting board and knife out in the blink of an eye. Before long, he had all the fixings required to make a couple of po’boys. Seeing all that gave her an idea and she hopped up from her stool, she held up a hand when Remy protested. She made her way to the pantry where she fund what she was looking for, home grown from her own little garden that Storm had helped her set up. She grabbed a handful of them and made her way over to the sink. She grabbed a mandolin and then washed the potatoes. Once everything was prepped, she grabbed a pit and filled it with oil, normally she used canola but all she found was sunflower so she just shrugged and went with it. She put the pot on the stove to heat, then began to slice the potatoes into paper-thin rounds, dropping them into a bowl of water to prevent them from browning.
Once the oil was hot enough, she took the potatoes and began to dry them. Once dried, she carefully dropped small handfuls into the oil. She fried them until they were cooked, but had no color on them, then pulled them from the oil and drained them on a plate covered with some paper towels to absorb the oil. She repeated the process until all the potatoes were cooked, then increased the temperature of the oil. Once that was done, she dropped the potatoes into the oil once more. This time she let them get crispy before she pulled them from the oil and seasoned them with salt, garlic powder and parmesan cheese. She turned to Remy, who was finishing up his own portion of their meal, and smiled. He looked over and let out a whistle, “Look damn good, Petite. Like ta cook, hm? Remy’ll have ta pull ya in ‘ere to ‘elp out when ‘e cooks sometime, yeah? ‘Ere, homemade po’boy, jus’ like maman use ta make.” He plated up their sandwiches with a flourish, letting her add her homemade chips to the plates. He then sat next to her at the breakfast bar, hip to hip, and they shared a quiet, peaceful, meal.

hello everyone, I made a series of doodles to put inside of my copy of MobyDick and I would like to share them :3 pls enjoy:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ID: Two traditional drawings. Ahab shows off his new pegleg with a flourish. Ishmael infodumps about whales to a fond Queequeg. End ID.] [More detailed ID in ALT.]
New Leg Goofin is for chapters 108-9, when Ahab gets fitted with his new leg! it's right before a super devastating chapter so i needed to make myself laugh lmao
Wikipedia Page About Every Whale is for the whole goddamn book, honestly, but I chose to put it at the beginning of ch.32, Cetology, where Ishmael really does try to explain every whale ever
Tumblr media
[ID: A comic of Stubb and Flask bursting into Ahab's quarters, thinking the Captain is in danger, only to find Ahab and Fedallah playing a game of cards. End ID.] [More detailed ID in ALT.]
This gem belongs to p.344 where Stubb wonders if Fedallah means to kidnap Ahab, which was such a baffling ridiculous concept that I couldn't help but make fun of it. literally Ahab snuck this man on board bro, what the fuck is fedallah going to do to him. they're playing uno. shut up
Tumblr media
[ID: Two drawings, with the first showing Pip after being cast away, haunted and alone on the deck of the Pequod. The other shows Ishmael and Queequeg homoerotically grasping hands while processing whale spermaceti. End ID.] [More detailed ID in ALT.]
this goes out to chapters 93-95, because the UNREAL whiplash from "a child was just abandoned at sea" to "hey let's be horny about whale oil" is still the most insane transition of all time. Ishmael, what the fuck
Tumblr media
[ID: A simply doodled meme diagram for how to greet a fellow amputee. The "wrong" answer shows Captains Ahab and Boomer shaking hands, while the "right" answers show Ahab in a handstand and then kicking his leg up high, both times to cross his prosthetic with Boomer's. End ID.] [More detailed ID in ALT.]
this goes out to p. 454. every interaction between these two absolutely delighted me but my mental image for the specific line about them "crossing ivory limbs" got. very silly.
Tumblr media
[ID: A small comic of Ahab asking the Harpooners to give him blood to temper his harpoon in. They stare back at him with varying expressions of confused, uncomfortable disbelief. End ID.]
the last one, for p.504. yknow that feel when your boss just walks up and asks you to bleed on his custom made harpoon??? yeah uh. normal workday things
anyways thank you for reading, I had a delightful time making these and am so very fond of them all, so yea :3
credit as always for the designs goes to the darling @pocketsizedquasar , as well as credit for pricelessly annotating my copy of MD and thus getting me to actually read it, love youuuu💙💙

📂 for everyone on ur roster
send a 📂for a useless headcanon.
SOLVEIG has (hot pink, obviously) bottom braces she's had since she was 19, and continuously fucks up the brackets because she enjoys eating popcorn kernels (no slander). i, personally, refuse to ever say she's had top braces because i cling onto the gap between her two front teeth like a child to its favorite toy.
AMANPAL has a degree in library sciences and sadly graduated in the top of his class. does he use his degree? no. i don't use mine either though, hate him having a relatable moment.
MARIANNE is so bad at hearing where voices come from. you call her name from right in front of her and she turns around because she thinks its from behind her.
MAELINA does not have a license and simply gets her husband or solveig to drive her everywhere if she can't walk or take public transit somewhere.
WINNIE is nearsighted as fuck but she doesn't know what the hell that means, so she really just assumes everyone's vision is like that.
TZIPPORAH, when they (the Experiments) were often left alone for days on end, she just taught her siblings to do weird and mundane stuff - which means she's really good at a shit ton of useless things, but will never admit it or show it off to anyone ever. where did she learn how to do those things? i dunno. her siblings will show off the random shit they know how to do, though. her favorite thing to do is origami, though.
speaking of, ORPHEUS can hold a handstand for five minutes and he'll eagerly do it at every single opportunity and is often disappointed he doesn't have more opportunities to do so.
ZELDA consistently gives herself stomachaches because she has an obsessive love of pineapple and eats what would, to most, be considered an Oddly Large of pineapple weekly.

I actually liked Green/Parson’s choreography this season. I just don’t think they could do it well enough to show it to its full potential (kind of like CPom’s Batdance, which was a well constructed and different program that V/M would’ve made iconic and CPom back then just didn’t have the skills to do it justice) Injuries held them back from training it and the lifts and transitions were interesting but designed for a team with a larger size difference.
there's a lot i like about their FD - it felt like it had potentia. though it had too many echoes of their more artistically successful 2021-22 FD-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
opening of 2021/22 vs 2023/24 ⬆️ the 2021 FD had stronger music, much as i like the cello piece. there was a visual vocabulary to their gestures, and overall it had a clarity and cohesiveness that this season's didn't reach. and it was emotional, held you in its mood
i do like the early version they did at Lombardia and Skate America - the music is circular, and they played with movement that wove in and around more - they originally had a RoLi, and a CuLi with a handstand that looked difficult but didn't quite work expressively. the combo lift they started doing instead could feel like she was changing positions randomly when they weren't flowing. they might have had their best skate of this FD at Cup of China with the newer version, though
youtube
at US Nats it looked very labored with shaky lifts. it does sound like injuries held them back in training, but they were better a week later at 4CC, so idk what happened
CPom really gave Batdance everything, and i think it's better than people gave it credit for, with some good ideas and characters for them to lean into. they were only 21 and 20 when they started that season!

Murder was a simple, easy and usually permanent way to solve problems. Not to mention satisfying. But blood spilt more than enough to fill the bed of lake Balaton behind her centuries, that sometimes option didn't hold any entertainment for Rozália.
“ ‘Want to have fun?’ Dance instead. Unless you're afraid of looking terrible next to me.” she folded her arms after taking in the group of sinners who had clear intent of causing harm and possible death; lightly armed, it would've been a simple practice. But that still would be three bodies at the end of the day.
She sensed the shift after a few moments, she figured her new...problem solving method gained popularity through the internet. Probably due to the shock value.
"Why not" the girl of the small group shrugged decisively, music blasting instead of gleaming knives. Definitely modern style and to her surprise, not bad. Not bad at all.
Tumblr media
Actually physics defying when the young man struck a horizontal pose midair, drawing many shouts of surprise from the already forming crowd. The unchanging electric excitement shot down her spine, she couldn't leave such challenge unanswered. Cape elegantly tossed over her shoulder, starting with a warmup samba, despite her statue and build seemingly weightless glide through the pavement. Steps morphed into a handstand in less than a second, legs forming perfect splits both directions, spine curling to briefly rest in the scorpion handstand. Her whole body seemed to spin and the inferno was back on her feet, teasingly dusting her hands off.
The core strength was truly admirable along with it being the most stylish crotch grab she has witnessed as the girl stopped her spinning for a second to do that, balancing herself on one hand. Rozy found herself laughing in awe as the girl replicated her split still one handed and proceeded to stand from said split in slow motion with a a serpentine upper body.
All heads whipping to the General for her reaction: an elegant flip forward followed by a spin transitioning into a standing split which morphed into a high roundhouse kick. But it wasn't enough. Her mind recalled a ballet jump she had seen, she allowed her body to carry it out, gliding through air and stopping. While her foot structure made her incapable of actual ballet, it was still flexible for enough hold onto the lamppost.
There was a good reason why pole dancers were almost naked and not due to eroticism (most of the time). Therefore Rozy didn't attempt to gain more hold, it would've been useless and relied only on her feet for support. She was hanging completely upside down supported by crossed ankles, arms straight to form the image of an inverted cross as she slowly spun around accompanied by the applause.

man, i thought my mom was soooo cool back when i was a kid. she was like the cool older sister that everyone wishes they had. i got her before she had made the transition from bellicose punk to motherhood. she had been somewhat hardened by her first-born, my older brother, who met her tremendous attitude with worse and more self-righteous attitude and even as a little boy did not allow her any room whenever she fell short (which was often). so when I came along, the sweetest and most agreeable child that let her get away with anything, she really loved me and doted on me like a favorite aunt would.
an Aries, ridiculously beautiful and prized by her partners, she wore this faded black leather jacket that to this day is the best i've ever seen someone wear a leather jacket, and high-waisted jeans with crop tops, she listened to the coolest music and stayed up all night listening to music and drinking and smoking, she always bought me Chinese takeout, painted a stupid scary and detailed skeleton on her face for Halloween, was a walking encyclopedia of martial arts films and had seen all of Jackie Chan's filmography back in the early 90s when it was crazy hard to track down foreign films (she would drive to video stores in big cities to get them), she could do walking handstands and the kung fu jump to a standing position from laying down thing, she carried me sitting on her shoulders much longer than anyone else did and when I became too heavy for that, she carried me piggy back until it wasn't physically possible anymore.
she definitely underwent a transformation after she had my youngest sibling about a decade later and has now become legitimately like a peaceful earth mother goddess, she's calmed down and become less selfish and doesn't struggle with rage. all the changes are for the best and have made her a better mother. but sometimes when i look at pictures of her from the 90s/early 00s i'm reminded like...wow. the woman i knew when i was growing up could truly be a different person. that woman is sister. the woman i know now is mom.

Adho Mukha Vriksasana⁣ ⁣ A handstand might be a dream for many yoga practioners as this upside down transition makes everyone stronger and confident to find a balance in the arms.⁣ ⁣ A firm and strong handstand makes you aware of every single sublime sensation through the muscles and joint movements. To draw a straight perpendicular line on your hands against the gravity we need to understand that bandhas play an important role here to align muscles, as well as our consciousness through the body and mind. 🤸🏽‍♂️⁣

I will return to this after the album has had some time to marinate in my brain, but I just like to document my initial reaction to something so I can properly compare later. This album fucking slapped just like how I knew it would. The use of Handstand as the transition from AM to PM was so fucking brilliant and seamless. MILEY IS BACK, BABY!

Unleashing Your Potential: Advanced Breakdancing Techniques to Elevate Your Skills
As you move beyond the basics of breakdancing, it's time to explore advanced techniques that push your physical limits and challenge your creativity. Whether you're preparing for a battle or perfecting a performance, advanced breakdancing requires a combination of strength, precision, and personal style. This guide offers insights into enhancing your breakdancing skills with advanced tips and tricks that will elevate your abilities and set you apart in the world of b-boying.
Mastering Advanced Spins and Rotations
Advanced breakdancers are known for their spins and rotations, which add speed and excitement to performances. Moves like windmills, air flares, and headspins showcase your control over momentum, making them essential in leveling up your breakdancing. To master these moves, focus on body alignment and coordination. For instance, when practicing windmills, keep your body tight and ensure your legs remain extended and balanced to maintain smooth, continuous rotations.
It's also important to work on your muscle strength and flexibility to handle these moves with ease. Engage in exercises that build your core and shoulders, such as push-ups, planks, and shoulder presses. These will help you maintain stability and control during rotations, enabling you to perform with greater speed and precision.
Enhancing Footwork with Speed and Accuracy
In advanced breakdancing, footwork takes on a new level of importance. Moves like the six-step, three-step, and more intricate transitions require speed, accuracy, and fluidity. Focus on executing each movement with precision, paying attention to how you distribute your body weight to avoid slipping or losing balance. Advanced dancers often incorporate footwork that seamlessly transitions into other moves, such as freezes or spins, creating a dynamic flow.
To sharpen your footwork, practice at various speeds. Start slowly to get the technique right, then increase your tempo to match faster beats. Using a mirror can help you catch any areas where you may lose form, ensuring that every step is crisp and well-executed. The key is to stay light on your feet while maintaining control, allowing you to perform more complex sequences with ease.
Elevating Freezes for Maximum Impact
Freezes are signature breakdancing moves that allow you to highlight your control and strength. As you move into advanced breakdancing, it's time to experiment with more difficult freeze variations, such as the air chair, elbow freeze, or hollow back. These moves require balance and strength, and when performed correctly, they can create dramatic moments in your routine.
To improve your freezes, focus on building core and upper body strength through exercises like handstands, hollow body holds, and shoulder presses. These workouts help you maintain stability in difficult positions, enabling you to hold freezes for longer periods. Additionally, practice transitioning in and out of freezes fluidly. Incorporating movement before and after a freeze adds an extra layer of creativity and flow to your performance, making each freeze more impactful.
Developing a Strong Sense of Rhythm and Musicality
Musicality is key to making your breakdancing routines stand out. As an advanced dancer, your ability to match your moves to the rhythm and nuances of the music will set you apart from others. Pay close attention to the beats, drops, and tempo shifts in your music. Hitting a freeze or power move at the exact moment of a beat drop can make your performance more powerful and engaging.
To improve your musicality, freestyle regularly to different types of breakdancing tracks. Practice improvising to various beats, focusing on how your moves interact with the music. This will help you become more adaptable and creative in your routines, allowing you to adjust your moves based on the rhythm and energy of the song.
Strengthening Endurance for Long Performances
Advanced breakdancing routines often require significant stamina, especially during long sets or intense battles. Performing power moves, intricate footwork, and freezes take a toll on your energy, so building endurance is critical to maintaining your performance throughout. Focus on cardiovascular exercises like running, cycling, or jumping rope to improve your overall stamina.
In addition to cardio, practice your routines in full at high intensity without taking breaks. Simulate the energy required for a live battle by running through your entire set multiple times in a row. The more you train your body to perform under physical stress, the easier it will be to execute advanced moves in real-time without losing power or control.
Creating a Unique Style to Stand Out
Breakdancing isn't just about mastering technical moves—it's also about expressing yourself through your own personal style. As an advanced dancer, developing a unique style is essential for making a lasting impression. Think about how you can add flair to traditional moves by incorporating your own variations, changing up the speed, or adding unexpected transitions.
Freestyle practice is one of the best ways to explore your style. Spend time dancing to different genres of music and experiment with moves from other dance forms, like hip-hop or contemporary. The more you explore and personalize your routines, the more distinct your style will become. A unique style helps you stand out in battles and performances, making your routines more memorable.
Improving Your Confidence for Battles and Performances
Confidence plays a significant role in breakdancing, particularly in battles where presence and attitude are as important as skill. Projecting confidence can make your routine appear more polished and professional. To boost your confidence, practice regularly in front of friends, in front of a mirror, or by recording yourself. This will help you become more comfortable with your movements and allow you to see areas for improvement.
When performing in a battle, engage with your opponent and audience. Show off your skills with energy and enthusiasm, and don't be afraid to make eye contact or add playful gestures. The more confident you feel about your abilities, the more likely you are to dominate the battle and leave a lasting impression.
Advancing your breakdancing skills requires dedication, creativity, and physical endurance. By focusing on perfecting power moves, refining your footwork, and developing your musicality, you can elevate your routines to new heights. Strengthening your endurance and exploring your unique style will help you stand out, whether you're competing in battles or performing on stage. With these advanced tips and tricks, you'll be well on your way to mastering breakdancing and pushing your skills to the next level.
