HERE, NOW (because if coquina were gold, we’d be rich)

my neighbors and i share starfruit and a tense romance with the sunburnt tourists who bring security and a feeling of invasion. a red sun emerges against the buzz of i95 and i’m following the quick shadow of a breeze making its way through bright bright heat, trying to catch a touch of camaraderie before the traffic chases it away. the stucco speckled with neon green algae, soft, thick and slimy like the air. i wonder if it’s ever been this hot before.

When Mabel gets a rip or her stitches get loose and burst at the seams, does her stuffing count as her version of blood or no?

-Dipper, writing frantic questions in the Journal as he first documents the curse.

Haha, but yeah, almost? If she had her cloth skin torn out stuffing would come out. Sort of blood, sort of...her muscles and organs?? I guess? Losing a lot of stuffing would make it hard for her to move around and make her feel very weird and fuzzy. But unlike blood and organs, she or someone else can just shove the stuffing back in and stitch the 'wound' and she's back to being right as rain in a day.

Dipper doesn't really have an equivalent to blood in the same way. He might have an equivalent to sweat by way of that weird not-quite-sticky texture wooden things get when the varnish grows old, because that's very funny to me. He feels like that when he gets nervous now.
