Page 3. --- Six Youths Punished for Escapade at Sunnyside ==== A week's detention was the sentence imposed in juvenile court yesterday on six 'teen-aged boys who risked their own lives and the safety of others by going for a spectacular ride on a stolen handcar on the railway tracks at Sunnyside a week ago Sunday.

Freight and passenger traffic was - tied up for a time as a result of the escapade.

Juvenile offences on railway property have shown a marked increase during the past year, said Rowland Flynn, superintendent of the C.N.R.'s investigation department, who stated that vigorous steps were being taken by railway police to suppress it, particularly with the safety of the offenders in mind.

Abandoned rail lines are fucked. They just go off into the distance covered in weeds and wild flowers and shit, but the metal’s still there and it would probably still fit a train. They make me want to put a new handcar on the rails, strap weed wackers to the front, and zoom across the great expanse mowing vegetation through both electric grinders and sheer speed whenever I see that.
