Summary: The condition is that they can’t use their cultivation since the ghost was a non-cultivator and wants a normal sword duel. This was all fine and well until they realized that none of them could win against him, lasting no more than few blows before having their swords and dignity flung out of their hands. “It’d be easier to just eliminate him,” Lan Jingyi mutters. “Otherwise we’ll be here forever.” “Jingyi,” Lan Sizhui scolds. Lan Jingyi is right, of course, but the whole point of elimination is that it’s the absolute last resort. Although it’s not within their own ability to liberate this ghost, there’s… Lan Sizhui glances at Wei Wuxian, standing idly by while he picks at under his fingernails. - A glimpse of Wei Wuxian and the Gusu Lan disciples on a night-hunt. Kay's comments: Short and sweet, the juniors are getting a glimpse at Wei Wuxian's amazing swordfighting-skills and of course, Wangxian are working dilligently towards Wei Wuxian growing a new golden core. Excerpt: Finally, Lan Jingyi’s voice projects over all of them, asking the one big question on their combined minds. “Why did you ever stop using your sword?” he questions. “Demonic cultivation might be useful and convenient, but—but you’re so good! You’re obviously skilled with the sword! Not cultivating with it is such a waste!” Wei Wuxian raises his eyebrows. He opens his mouth, and everyone quietens to hear his response better. What was the real reason for Wei Wuxian to abandon the way of the sword and start the era of Yiling Laozu’s demonic cultivation when he was already so powerful? “I,” Wei Wuxian answers, “hate sweating.”

We purposely left out the timezone so no one has to stress out about it! We won’t be strict with that, and we encourage you to post it when you’re comfortable as long as it’s the assigned date where you are are.

Coda 13x06

Castiel stared where Jack had been only moments before.  His mouth was open a little; his tongue was growing dry from the stale, bunker air.

“It’ll be fine.”  Sam’s tone came a little more strained than it usually did.

“No, it won’t.”  Castiel turned his deadpan eyes to Sam.  “I just met him.  I am his protector.  How am I supposed to protect him?”  He sounded angry, but his face was completely devoid of emotion, like the feelings hadn’t yet made their way to the surface.

Sam shifted to his other foot and licked his lips.  “We’ve dealt with worse.  I’m sure-” Sam’s voice cracked and his sentence stopped when he saw Castiel wince.

Cas shook his head a little then more then a lot.  “You can’t pretend everything is going to be okay.”

“He has to, Cas.”

There was silence.  

Dean couldn’t even hear his heartbeat in the next pause.  “Cas.  You’re right, okay?”  Dean lifted his hands in a nonchalant gesture, “It won’t be fine.  This is going to suck.”

“You don’t understand; I wasn’t there before.”  Castiel looked absolutely pitiful, blue eyes wet.  “Now, he’s left, and I can’t-”

Dean’s breath filled what would’ve been an unbearable silence.  He made a little wave for Sam to take his leave.  When Sam simply raised his eyebrows, Dean made a stern expression and nodded toward the door.  That time, Sam didn’t question him, turning on his heel and making a quiet exit. 

Turning back to Cas, Dean reached over and picked a piece of something - Dean wasn’t sure what - out of Cas’ hair, must’ve come from the bunker’s floor.  Somebody needed to sweep again.

“Cas, sometimes we can’t be there.  At those times, we hope that what we’ve taught them, does them well.  That they make the right decisions based on the time when we were there.”  Dean looked up at the ceiling trying to figure out how to have this conversation without getting sentimental.

When he looked back down, Cas was shaking his head again, this time defeated.  “But, I wasn’t there at all.”  Cas turned his sad eyes on Dean, boring into him, pleading him for something.

Dean bit his lip before deciding to ‘screw it’ and grabbed Castiel’s shoulder, closer to his neck that usual.  He could feel Cas’ warmth seep into his hand through his coat.  “He remembers you, Cas.  He’s here because you saw potential in him.  He knows you.”

“He can’t actually know me, Dean.  He remembers only impressions of me.”

“But he does remember you.”  Dean gently settled his other hand on Cas’ other shoulder, bracketing him in but making sure that Cas could escape if he desired.  “Cas, you weren’t here.  You were dead.”

“You don’t have to remin-”

“But you were here.  That kid, he acts like you.  He talks like you.  It’s like he was made in the same mold.”  Dean squeezed his eyes shut.  “Every time I looked at him, it made me miss you.”  He turned his watery eyes to the ceiling.  “It made me miss you so damn much, and there was nothing I could do.”  He eyed Cas.  “I was so selfish.”  He sniffed.

Cas laid a hand on Dean’s arm.  “That’s not selfish.” 

“It was very selfish.”  Dean’s other hand slid closer to Cas’ neck, touching his skin, feeling the warmth directly.  He swept a thumb up over Cas’ stubble.  “And then he brought you back.”  Tears fell from Dean’s eyes, trailing down his face.

Lunging forward, Castiel enveloped Dean in a hug.  He hushed him, awkwardly, like he’d done with small children or babies, because he wasn’t sure what to do.

Dean shook his head into the crook of Castiel’s neck and whispered, “I was so selfish, because it wasn’t until then that I realized how much you meant to him too.”
