The Gentleman series on Netflix, reasons to watch:
Beautiful people, stylishly dressed and wonderfully shot ...
A fantastic mix of characters, from a literal Duke to travellers, stoners, and even an American ;) ...
Plenty of humour ...
Slightly over the top, slightly comic violence, plus overall fabulous directing from Guy Ritchie ...
A fabulous selection of well-cast familiar actors, Vinnie Jones and Ray Winstone in particular ...
Great plot/character development across the series and it is, imo, absolutely perfectly set up for a series two 🤞 with loads of potential for more entertaining chaos.
Plus ... plenty of 'ship-worthy scenes to be getting on with in the meantime ...
(The series is apparently a spin off of an earlier film, but I watched all of the episodes before I even realised the film existed, and it didn't feel like I was missing anything for having not seen the film.)

The Lady - 2
Character: Bucky Barnes x Female Reader, Eddie Horniman x Female Reader
Summary: After fifteen years away, a step-daughter returns for her Duke step-father's funeral, only to inherit a staggering 8 million pound debt and strike a risky deal with a criminal underworld figure.
Main Masterlist || support: Ko-fi
Chap 1, Chap 2, Chap 3 , Chap 4 , Chap 5 , Chap 6 , Chap 7.
Your ongoing support means the world to me! Reblogs are a fantastic way to help spread the word about my work. I'll do my best to reply to all your comments. Thank you for your continued encouragement!
Bucky leaned back in his chair, studying her reaction keenly. "I understand your concerns," he said, his tone surprisingly understanding. "But trust me, this is a business matter. We're not in the business of hurting innocent people."
"If someone died, I'd probably get deported," Bucky added casually, his tone belying the seriousness of his words.
"You're American too?" you blurted out, your voice tinged with disbelief. It was only now, under the stress of the moment, that you noticed Bucky's lack of a British accent.
"Yup. Just like you. So we have something in common," Bucky replied, his smile masking the underlying tension between you.
Leaning back in your chair, you feigned deep contemplation, buying yourself time to process the weight of Bucky's request. "After thinking thoroughly, it's not gonna happen," you finally declared, your words a thinly veiled refusal.
Bucky's easygoing demeanor vanished instantly, replaced by a steely resolve that sent shivers down your spine. Drawing closer, he rested both arms on Rupert's study table, his gaze piercing you unwaveringly.
"Your Grace, because of my friendship with Rupert, I'm giving you this last chance," Bucky declared, his voice low and commanding.
With a swift motion, he produced a business card from his suit pocket and slid it across the table towards you. "I'll be waiting for your call."
As he retreated, you couldn't help but feel a sense of foreboding creeping over you. The stakes had never been higher, and you knew that the choices you made in the coming days would shape the course of your future in ways you couldn't yet comprehend.
The weight of the situation pressed down on you like a suffocating blanket as you surveyed the room, your eyes landing on the familiar photos adorning the walls.
Among them, a small picture frame caught your attention, capturing a moment frozen in time: you and Rupert, smiling at a polo game.
Your voice faltered as you addressed the silent figure in the photograph. "Why did you choose me?" you whispered, the weight of the unspoken words hanging heavy in the air. "Dad."
Feeling lost and overwhelmed, you pondered your next move. Should you confront your mother, who seemed to have kept secrets hidden all along?
Or seek answers from the twins, who had already distanced themselves from the burden?
After careful consideration, you decided to turn to your childhood friend, Eddie, for guidance. With a sense of determination, you grabbed the car keys and set off for Halstead estate, hoping that Eddie might offer some much-needed clarity in this sea of uncertainty.
As you stepped onto the familiar grounds of Halstead estate, memories of summers past flooded your mind. Despite the initial awkwardness of being left behind by your mother, the warmth of Eddie's family soon enveloped you in a sense of belonging.
The memories of summers spent here flooded back. Your mother left you behind, as the twins didn't want you to join the holiday. So, your mom left you here since Eddie's manor was closer to you.
Initially awkward, but it became enjoyable with Freddie always cracking jokes and Eddie, the adventurous one.
Reminiscing about fishing trips, horseback riding, and clay shooting, you couldn't help but smile at the fond memories made in this idyllic setting.
Suddenly, a familiar voice broke through your reverie, and you turned to see Freddie, Eddie's brother, approaching with open arms. Despite the passage of time, Freddie seemed unchanged, his jovial spirit shining through.
"Y/N! Come here. Give me a hug."
You embraced him. It had been 15 years, and he seemed different, almost radiant.
Freddie said, "I'm sorry about Rupert. I lost my dad last year too."
You replied, "I'm sorry too."
"So, it's obvious you're not here for me. You want to see Eddie?" Freddie asked.
"I am," you confirmed.
"He just finished a conversation with a guest. Let me take you there," Freddie offered, leading the way.
When you walked into the study room, you heard an elegant female voice saying, "I'll give the info later."
As she walked out, you noticed her stylish demeanor and sensed a mysterious aura around her. There was a hint of leadership in her presence, but what struck you as odd was the faint smell of weed lingering in the air.
She smiled at you before departing.
"I didn't expect you to come here so soon," Eddie remarked with a smile as you turned to face him. Seated in a leather chair, he exuded the air of a true duke.
"I didn't know where else I could go," you replied.
Freddie cleared his throat. "I'll leave you two alone."
Eddie offered you a seat and poured a drink, which you gratefully accepted.
"I heard you got the title. Congrats," Eddie said, raising his glass in a toast.
You chuckled softly. "The title is useless when all I've got is debt."
Eddie fell silent for a moment. "I went through a similar situation myself. What kind of problem are you having right now?"
"Do you know Bucky Barnes?" you asked.
Eddie clicked his tongue in response.
Crossing your arms, you continued, "So you know him. That means you knew about my stepdad's weed business."
Eddie leaned back in his chair, thoughtfully swirling the amber liquid in his glass. "Rupert got into the business earlier than me," he began, his tone reflecting a mix of resignation and regret. "The woman you saw before is Susie Glass."
"He had a business with her," Eddie continued, his voice tinged with disapproval.
You clenched your jaw, the realization sinking in.
"I didn't know much about the details, but your father was on the list that worked with the Glass," Eddie explained, his expression troubled.
"He wanted out," you interjected, your voice firm with determination.
Eddie nodded grimly. "And that's where Barnes came in. He's a syndicate, setting up a branch in the UK from New York. His business was unique and deadly."
The dimly lit study seemed to take on a more sinister atmosphere as Eddie spoke, shadows dancing across the walls like flickering flames. The air was tense, each word carrying the weight of unspoken truths and hidden dangers.
"Rupert owes Barnes 8 million pounds," you stated, the gravity of the situation sinking in.
Eddie hesitated for a moment before responding, his expression thoughtful. "That's..."
"I know, it's insane," you interjected, your voice tinged with frustration.
Eddie met your gaze, his eyes reflecting a mix of sympathy and determination. "I could pay off your debt," he offered quietly.
You recoiled slightly, taken aback by his proposal. "Then what? I'll still in debt. It never ends," you countered, a note of bitterness creeping into your voice.
You sighed, the weight of Rupert's decision heavy on your shoulders. "Why did Rupert choose me?"
Eddie nodded in understanding, his expression reflective. "I asked the same thing when my dad chose me instead of Freddie."
Your brow furrowed in confusion as you looked at him, prompting Eddie to chuckle softly. "Problem solver," he explained simply.
You nodded slowly, considering Eddie's words. "Both of us did join the military. Is it because we went through difficult situations?"
Eddie leaned forward, his gaze unwavering as he locked eyes with you. "Probably," he agreed, a reassuring smile playing on his lips. "But I'm sure you could handle it. If not, I'll be here to help you."
A warmth spread through you at his words, and you felt a slight blush creeping up your cheeks. "Thank you," you murmured gratefully, appreciating his caring demeanor.
You nodded firmly. "I've got all I need. I'll go now," you declared, trying to maintain composure as you turned to leave.
Eddie nodded in response. "Sure. I'll see you next time," he replied, his tone gentle and understanding.
As you walked away, you couldn't help but feel a swirl of emotions inside, like a whirlwind of conflicting thoughts and feelings. You tried to keep a cool facade, but deep down, your heart was racing.
Meanwhile, Eddie watched you go, a flicker of concern crossing his features. Then, a voice interrupted his thoughts.
"Did she notice?" someone asked quietly.
Eddie glanced over, meeting the gaze of the speaker. "Not yet," he responded softly, his expression thoughtful as he contemplated the situation.
You drove for what felt like an eternity until you finally arrived back at your own manor. As you stepped inside, you noticed Hugo playing in the living room with Susan. Ignoring your mother, your focus was solely on your little step-brother.
You were just ten years old when you first met Rupert, and he had quickly become the best father figure you'd ever known. During the eight years you spent here, you learned to appreciate Rupert's love for his legacy and the history of the manor.
Sighing heavily, you knew you were about to make a risky decision.
Heading to Rupert's study again, you picked up Bucky's business card and dialed the number. After just two rings, his voice filled your ears. "I've been waiting for your call, Your Grace," he said smoothly.
Rolling your eyes at his confidence, you replied, "Just one job and you clear the debt?"
Bucky chuckled, his tone dripping with assurance. "It would be a big explosion. They'll think it's a terrorist attack. But no, Your Grace. Five small explosions, and we're done."
Bucky's voice crackled through the line, his tone both humorous and tinged with an unmistakable edge. "Think of it as fireworks, Your Grace. Except instead of pretty colors, we'll be making a statement."
You couldn't help but let out a nervous laugh, the gravity of the situation juxtaposed with Bucky's nonchalant demeanor. "And what kind of statement would that be?" you asked, trying to match his casual tone.
"The kind that says, 'Don't mess with us,'" Bucky replied, his voice dripping with a dangerous charm. "We'll leave 'em scratching their heads and scrambling for cover."
Despite the seriousness of the conversation, you couldn't deny the thrill of adrenaline coursing through your veins. "And you're sure this will work?" you inquired, a hint of skepticism creeping into your voice.
Bucky's confidence was unwavering. "Trust me, Your Grace. When it comes to making a scene, I'm the best in the business."

Right, so clearly 20-25ish years ago, Geoff gave up a life of crime and took a job on the 12th Earl of Halstead 's country estate. Why? Who knows. Maybe his parents were in service and worked at Halstead Manor and he grew up on the grounds. Maybe he was from the village originally.
For whatever reason, he walked away from the life--but he knows what's what, and he definitely knows Robert Glass.
Bobby Glass would have been 10 years Geoff's senior, and it's entirely possible the whole reason the Earl (who was absolutely 100% Terence Stamp's generation) not only so readily accepted the proposal but a spearheaded the agreement amongst the Glass family and 12 other aristocratic families is because he trusted Geoff's counsel despite (for who knows? maybe because of) the fact that Geoff had an affair with his wife and Charlotte is his daughter.
So inside my head, regardless of whether or not we do get a second series, my head canon is that Terence Stamp was Bobby and Geoff's previous boss, the one they broke away from. Maybe Bobby took over Terence Stamp's business by force, maybe Bobby built his own in the '70s brick by brick with his blessing. But there's history there. It's three generations of Glasses and Hornimans side by side.
And I think Blackmailer Frank the former journo with integrity knows all of the story. Or at least, all the various pieces of the puzzle, but a puzzle he hasn't put together because he doesn't know what the big picture is.
Something happened 20-25ish years ago, and maybe it involves Susie and Jack's mum's death and maybe it doesn't, but I don't think the timing is coincidence.
Fuck. I'm gonna have to write something. And I also very clearly need to rewatch Sexy Beast.
ETA: If I do write something, it will almost certainly begin 'In retrospect, all things considered, he should have sold the Gainsborough.'

Yes, that’s exactly what he’d do in that situation. He’s so in tuned to her that he’d sense that negative energy from across the room and run over to help. Even after a stressful day in emergency department with all of his responsibilities and concerns, Will puts her first. He’s tired yes - god, yes!
Taking care of people in various states of disarray is just about the hardest job there is. But he doesn’t bring that home to her as soon as he sees the emotional condition she’s in. He leaves his own shit at the door.
He has the fortitude to take care of his favorite girl, after all!
Radio prompt #8 - Take a breath, take it deep Calm yourself, he says to me (with Will Halstead)
Your hands are shaking, you can feel the vibration richoetting through your body and you sit with your back against that couch, your knees drawn up to your chest.
You see the blood, feel the warmth of it splash across your face, taste it on the tip of your tongue. You've showered since then but you can still feel it on your skin.
You had known Richard had mental health issues. He was one of your frequent fliers, someone from the neighbourhood who suffered with schizophrenia. You'd known him from your very first days in patrol and you'd always been able to calm him down even in the midst of his delusions.
Today though... today had been different. He had been entirely clear headed when he wrenched that knife across his throat. You had seen a moment of clarity in the madness.
His wife laying on the floor in front of him, the shit kicked out of her because he thought she was a member of the IRA coming to kill him. He had known the medication wasnt helping he was getting worse, he knew that next time he may just kill her.
You'd seen the resignation in his gaze, you'd lashed out grabbing for him but it was too late.
The anguish tears at your chest, it feels like someone has shoved barbed wire right through your sternum. It hurts to breath.
You don't hear Will come in, your eyes are blurry from the tears that are running down your cheeks. As soon as he lays eyes on you, his backpack slips to that floor and he kneels down in front of you, his hands cupping your features lovingly.
"Darling..." he whispers as he kisses the tears from your cheeks. "Tell me what happened."

Can someone settle an argument for me. Halstead Manor must be somewhere in Surrey for how close it is to London.
My point stems from episode 2 after Johnston's gala in londond, Susie drives Eddie home.
What do other people think??

The Gentlemen : Quotes
"- Your inheritance has made you a very wealthy man, but that doesn't mean to say that you're rich. You're asset rich, cash poor. There has been a slightly unconventional approach from a lawyer based in London. His client has expressed an interest in purchasing Halstead Manor. (The lawyer) - When someone dies, the vultures start circling." (Eddie - Episode 1)
"- Yes, and the sooner you get rid of them, the better." (Lady Sabrina - Episode 4) - I just need to figure out a way of making them more money with a little less fuss. (Eddie - Episode 4) - Now, come one. Nothing like a good funeral to put things in perspective." (Lady Sabrina - Episode 4)
"- Behind the air of pomposity, there's a man you don't wanna fuck with. (Eddie) - Speak for yourself, Eddie." (Freddy - Episode 4)
"- He's rather lovely. He's your classic struggling artist. Just a little too desperate to be discovered." (Freddy - Episode 4)
"- Would you introduce me? (Eddie) - You're up to something, Eddie. (Freddy) - Never." (Eddie - Episode 4)
"- Oh, Freddy has many talents, but sticking isn't one of them." (Eddie - Episode 4)
"- It's the kind of risk-reward relationship I could get on board with. Free market, fucking great. Lack of regulation, check. No taxation? Yeah, baby. Smidge of illegality? Yeah, well, no business plan's perfect." (Max (?)- Episode 4)
"- Only thing he likes more than wine and fine dining is the sound of his own voice." (Susie - Episode 5)
"- Are you trying to blackmail us? (Susie) - Ah, well, that depends on your definition of blackmail. (JP) - Perhaps you could help us clarify your definition." (Eddie - Episode 5) "- We've all just gotta figure out what we're good at and fuck the consequences in the arse. (Freddy) - The consequences might fuck you in the arse if you do 14 years in prison." (Eddie) - Yeah, we're all in cages, brother." (Freddy - Episode 5)
"- That's the thing about running an international crime syndicate. We can get to anyone." (Susie - Episode 5)
"- You continue to deliver on your end of the bargain and see how they respond. Don't let 'em know what you're thinking. And meanwhile, prepare for all eventualities." (Geoff - Episode 6)
"- Well, you don't fuck about, do you? (Eddie) - Like you said, impulse, instinct, survival." (Henry - Episode 6)
"- I thought you burnt that bridge. You know what creative types are like. Passion runs high, but it's quickly forgotten." (Episode 6)
"- That's a very wild accusation. - Why don't you deny it, then, hmm?" (Episode 6)
"- There is nothing that I won't do to protect my family. (Eddie) - Careful there, soldier. I can be nice, and I can be not so nice. You've only seen me on one setting." (Susie - Episode 6)
"- Looking supremely fucking confident. As well you should." (Episode 6)
"- You may have a small army, but I am the state. I am the house. I am the establishment. And you are ill-equipped physically, martially, and intellectually for the fight you've mistakenly chosen to pick." (Susie - Episode 6)
"- What have you got to be sorry for? Didn't do anything, did you?" (Susie - Episode 7)
"- You're not thinking with your business brain. You're thinking with your emotional feelings. You're my angel of life, not my angel of death" (Bobby - Episode 7)
"- Violence and trickery has no place in our way of business." (Episode 7)
"- How do you intend to use their names? Mr. Johnston believes the key to a good deal is to give everyone something they want." (The secretary - Episode 7)
"- Now blood's been spilled, he's not gonna stop until he's got it. There's nothing he won't do." (Episode 7)
"- Problem is, I'm currently on the precipice of a difficult decision about which side offers the best chance of an exit... with the least possible fuss." (Eddie - Episode 7)
"- If you're gonna do it, just fucking do it. (Henry) - Oh, no. After you made my brother suffer, I think I'm entitled to take my fucking time. Make an example of you. Make sure no one ever tries to steal my business again." (Susie - Episode 7)
"- Because this is the one time I can do something selfless. The one chance I have to reclaim a shred of human dignity. The moral of the story is, you need to take the blows, accept the blame, all for the sake of the bigger picture." (Bobby - Episode 8)
"- And why me exactly? (Eddie) - It ain't gone unnoticed that you two have become a right double act working together." (Bobby - Episode 8)
"- I was under the impression it was verified. (Stanley Johnston - Episode 8) - No. You've been the victim of a deception, Mr. Johnston. (Eddie - Episode 8)
"-You see, until you've had the living shit beaten out of you, you don't know anything. But when you realize the only thing that matters is power, the whole world opens up. 'Cause it's literally there for the taking." (Jack - Episode 8)
"- However, if you want the benefit from my vast years of experience, I'd say that you're much more likely to regret the things that you didn't do rather than the things that you did." (Lady Sabrina - Episode 8)
"- It got me thinking. Nothing in life worth having comes without a little... danger." (Eddie - Episode 8)

electric touch.
after twelve plus hours of decoding and arguing and decoding some more, dorey emerges from hut six feeling like an over cooked egg. or undercooked. she’s exhausted and hungry - she’s not very creative when she’s fully awake and she’s starving besides. the codes were changing - easier because they knew more or less what they were looking for now and harder because the germans were starting to get a little desperate. she despises night shift but also never tires of the thrill of being in the first group to crack for the day. her desire for sleep and competitive drive have always been in direct conflict with each other, never more than here.
the sun has the audacity to be shining when she kicks her bicycle away from the tree she’d left it against last night. she has a pounding headache from the eye strain (she adds finding an optometrist to her list of things to ask jessa about when she’s next in london) and a churning gut from nothing but black coffee. she doesn’t trust her balance to ride the bicycle and instead walks alongside if it, thankful for even a little bit of assistance. her lodging is close but she’s not there right now so it’s very far indeed. she’s wheeling across the lawn when she hears what could be her name but could also be a shouted apology. though this is full of oxbridge people and god knows none of them have ever shouted and -
“dorey?”
christ on the cross, is she being punished by an ironic universe for being an immature nightmare three years ago? is this delayed penance for some childhood offense? is she not allowed to see sidney halstead when she doesn’t look like a bedraggled hamster. she blinks in the direct sunlight that seems to have decided to shine directly in her eyes and shades them with her free hand. “hello sidney,” she says. “i’ve been awake for twenty four hours so i apologize but are you real or am i hallucinating?”
he laughs and closes the distance between them. “no, i’m real. can’t say why but i’m here for a few days.”
“of course.” she tries to look awake and engaged and not yawn. “welcome, welcome. don’t touch anything.”
“are you…” he cocks his head at her and yes, she must resemble a plague victim at this point. “okay?”
“i need to eat a sandwich and get some sleep but i’ll be fine.” she fights back a yawn, sure her jaw is stretching like a snake. “late night. morning. christ, what time is it?”
“about ten.”
“it was four the last i checked so that’s nice.”
“do you need me to make sure you get back home?” he asks. “you look like you might keel over or wander into traffic.”
“that’s what the bicycle is for,” she says, giving it a friendly pat, like it’s a beloved horse. “i’ll be fine. i’m a minute away.”
“are you sure?”
“extremely. very.” she remembers that he’s visiting and manners kick back in. “do you want to have dinner later maybe?”
“sure, if you survive.”
“settled. dinner. after six. seven. absolutely seven.”
“absolutely seven. maybe tomorrow?”
“no, no.” she waves her hand in front of her mouth as she forces back another yawn. “i’ll be resurrected by seven.”
“do i need to track you down again or are you going to tell me?”
“five prince street, come around the back.” she yawns again and this time she can’t stop it. “excuse me.”
he shakes his head but it’s fond. “go home dorey.”
he heads off towards the manor house and she manages to get herself back to prince street and the former’s cooks quarters that’s her bolt hole. her landlady is as deaf as a post and seems to take her hot plate as a personal offense and there are no windows but she can come and go as she pleases and after night shift, the cool dark is bliss.
she falls asleep as soon as her head hits her pillow and when she wakes up, she feels much better, damn near human again. a shower and a sandwich had taken her the rest of the way and once her brain function had been restored, she realized that she had somehow managed to ask sidney on something of a date tonight. not that dinner has to lead to anything, of course - it just usually had in the past. it didn’t mean that she would pick up the habit again but it did show prior action and probability being what it was - it could.
“you will not sleep with him,” she tells herself sternly in the cracked bureau mirror. she wags her hairbrush at her reflection for emphasis but it doesn’t seem to have any effect on her.
the sun has started to dip when her watch ticks to seven. she smooths her dress one more time - it’s a poppy red one with little white flowers that jessa bullied her into buying. it’s entirely too bright for the but and red makes one of the other code breakers nauseous but she likes it and damnit, if she’s accidentally asked a man on a date, she’d like to feel nice. sid is waiting at the stairs, leaning against the railing in wait and when she turns around from locking the back door, he’s looking at her funny.
“what?”
he shakes his head as though to clear it. “almost didn’t recognize you,” he says. “you look so much more alive than the last time i saw you.”
dorey rolls her eyes and joins him at the. bottom of the stairs. “i forgot what a sweet talker you are. any other compliments or are you going to feed me?”
he holds out an arm for her and she hesitates before tucking her hand in the crook. “i’ll come up with something. do me a favor though?”
she considers a quick remark but there’s something sincere in his tone that has her holding it back.
“let’s not talk about the war. you can’t, i really don’t want to after today.”
“i can do that. what do you want to talk about instead?”
“literally anything. mushrooms. bricks. grass. cats.”
“are you just listing things you can see?”
he smiles down at her and her stomach flips. “it’s a start.”
she smiles back. “let’s start with mushrooms.”
they make their way to the village pub and she remembers just how easy he is to talk to. as promised, he doesn’t ask her about her work and she doesn’t ask him about his. they exhaust the subject of mushrooms fairly quickly but move onto others - she likes to hear his opinions on things, to talk and discuss and make him laugh. it’s heady stuff for her to remember how good it feels to be around someone like him. he’s smarter than he thinks but not nearly as stuck up about it as everyone she’s surrounded with day in and day out. by the time they leave, she’s damn near smitten with him all over again.
when he kisses her, it feels like no time has passed at all. her body remembers this, remembers twining her arms around his neck to level their height difference, the way his hands grip her hips and smoothly guide her to press her against the alley’s brick wall. while she has been kissed since he left, this is just a reminder that he always did it exactly right.
he doesn’t try to lift her - she hates being lifted without being asked and too many men try. she always feels like she’s about to be smuggled off like some piratical wench of done incorrectly. his hands are sure and when she nips at his lower lip, the kiss goes deeper and harder. her head thuds against the brick for a second but one of his hands moves to cups the back of her head as a cushion.
this at least has always worked for them.
“can i-“
he asks and she nods eagerly. her legs bracket his waist and after a moment of quick rearranging, he has her pinned between him and the wall. she sinks her fingers into his hair and she abandons thought.
“slow down,” he gasps, even as his hands on her bare thighs feel like a starting gun. she can’t tell if he’s telling her or himself. “baby, slow down. just a second.”
oh, her. she tries to still, meeting him in the middle when the kissing turns slow and deep. slow is nice, slow is fine but then she remembers that he has a very nice neck that he liked having kissed three years ago. for the sake of experimentation, she tries it and gets a muffled moan. she tries it again with a little more bite and gets him swearing which feels like victory.
“damnit dorey,” he grunts, pinning her a little harder - as though that’s going to deter her.
“i wasn’t going to do this,” she says, half laughing and half moaning when his hips jerk against hers. one of them should probably start thinking straight but it’s not going to be her at this rate. nor him, to be perfectly honest. neither of them are, with the gift of hindsight, particularly good at thinking straight around each other.
“told myself the same damn thing.” he doesn’t drop her but gently untangles them to set her back in the ground. “we need to go somewhere. i can’t get court martialed for having my dick out.”
she told herself a lot of things and has forgotten them all. “mine. private entrance. deaf landlady.”
“damn, you hit the jackpot.” he picks up her handbag from where it dropped. she hadn’t even realized. frankly she’s forgotten she ever even owned one in the first place. she takes it in one hand and laces her fingers with his with the other. “lead the way.”
“can they court martial you for indecent exposure?”
“i’m not finding out with you.”

Rewatching The Gentlemen and questioning the timeline. It's been 11 years since the Duke brokered the agreement between Bobby Glass and the other 11 landed gentry with country estates, but it's implied the farm at Halstead Manor has only been in operation for 5 years.
Also Geoff says he's been there since before Freddy and Edward were in long trousers, but boys usually are about 8 when they make that transition and 20 years ago, Theo James was significantly north of 8 to the tube of a decade plus. So either Eddie and Freddy are meant to be much much younger than their actors, or Guy Richie can't count.
I'm still in a Gargoyles headspace, and keep thinking how much Johnston and Xanatos have in common. Tho Stevens is more Vogel than Owen. But the relationship dynamics still feel very similar.
I'd also missed Tamsin calling Edward 'Wina' and that's too perfect. I still want to know who christened her Wham Tam (Thank You, Ma'am).

I love the gif you’ve chosen - it’s perfect for the your one-shot . Will just looks so stressed and unkempt.
From the very beginning, he never got what he wanted/needed from Natalie. It was an immature a schoolboy crush, hardly a foundation on which to build anything.
Here’s hoping he divorces Natalie and pursues reader! It’s never too late to correct an error.
#1. “Because every time I see you, all I can think about is kissing you and I don’t know how I’m supposed to feel about that.”
With Will Halstead
“Because every time I see you, all I can think about is kissing you and I don’t know how I’m supposed to feel about that.” You tell Will as you stand on the outdoor balcony of Chicago Med, with your hands in your pockets, your jacket fluttering in the wind.
“We both agreed…” He begins with a sigh before trailing off and staring over the skyline. “It doesn’t matter what we both agreed does it? It doesn’t stop this feeling.”
“No it doesn’t.” You say stepping up along side him, your jackets rustle as they brush one another and he tilts his head towards you. “Look I can stay away…”
“No.” he says resolutely, his fingertips chasing along the line of your jaw before he tips your chin up to look into his eyes. “That doesn’t work, even when I’m not with you I think about you all the time.”
“You’re married.” You remind him, your hand clasping his, your thumb tracing over his wedding band.
“That doesn’t mean it isn’t true.” He tells you, his lips brushing over yours. “It doesn’t mean what I feel isn’t real.”

Join me as I experience my first ever Red Carpet event at Guy Richie’s Netflix World Premiere of the Gentleman TV series at London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane. I was lucky enough to see the cast on the red carpet, the premiere of the first episode and a Q&A session after the screening with all the cast alongside the series director.
The series premiered on Netflix on the 7th March and in respect to the cast and crew this video is being released the day after, so hopefully no spoilers.
The Gentlemen is a television series created by Guy Ritchie. It is a spin-off of Ritchie's 2019 film of the same name. The series stars Theo James and consists of eight episodes.
Eddie Halstead has unexpectedly inherited an estate of 15,000 acres and the title of Duke of Halstead from his recently deceased father, but he learns that the land has become part of a weed-growing empire run by Bobby Glass. Now, he must navigate a world of eclectic and dangerous characters with nefarious agendas, while also trying to protect his home and stay alive.
CAST
Theo James as Eddie Halstead, the new Duke of Halstead.
Kaya Scodelario as Susie Glass

Joely Richardson as Lady Sabrina Halstead, Eddie and Freddy's mother.
Giancarlo Esposito as Stanley Johnston, a wine aristocrat who is trying to buy the Halstead Manor.
Peter Serafinowicz as Tommy Dixon, a member of the Scouse crime family.
Pearce Quigley as John “the Gospel” Dixon, Tommy's brother and the head of the Scouse crime family.
Vinnie Jones as Geoff Seacombe, the groundskeeper of the Halstead Manor

Max Beesley as Henry Collins
Harry Goodwins as Jack
Ruby Sear as Gabrielle
Ray Winstone as Bobby Glass
Dar Salim as Felix, a “cleaner”
Guy Ritchie entered development of a television series for him to write and direct inspired by his film The Gentlemen with Moonage Pictures and Miramax Television in October 2020. Ritchie was also executive producing alongside the producers of the original film. Matthew Read helped Richie write the pilot script, also coming on board to executive produce at Moonage with Will Gould, and Netflix ultimately ordered the series. The cast; including Theo James, Kaya Scodelario, Daniel Ings, Joely Richardson, Giancarlo Esposito, Peter Serafinowicz, and Vinnie Jones; was announced the week before filming was set to begin, and Alexis Rodney was added in the first week of filming. In June 2023, Max Beesley was added to the cast, and Hugh Warren was revealed as the series producer. Chanel Cresswell joined the cast in a recurring role during production in December. Ray Winstone was revealed to be part of the cast through a teaser in January 2024.
Production took place in London and Badminton House running from November 2022 through June 2023. Filming took place at Longcross Studios and West London Film Studios with additional on-location shooting throughout the town, including at the Princess Victoria pub and the Tate Modern as well as areas of Hackney and Islington.
