iamhalsey: Thank you guys so much for such an amazing release week. I waited so long to put out this album. Ironically, I wrote it because I didn’t think I had much time to get these thoughts down/out. Then ended up waiting so long it hurt, to get it into your hands. My heart is heavy with all the stories and insight you have shared, with what the songs mean to you. I wrote this album because I got sick, sure. But really I wrote it because I felt small, and weak, and decidedly unremarkable. It’s a hard truth, but an honest one. 5 albums deep and my relationship to songwriting has changed drastically over the years. I rarely think about these charts and numbers when I’m writing, but it would be a lie to say they don’t feel sweet if they arrive. It’s always an “if” and not a “when”. Which is my approach to nearly everything after the past couple of years. I’m looking forward to all of the “if”s to come. I don’t know what they will look like, and if this medium is where they will be, but I hope to continue telling stories, because it’s the only thing in the world I know how to do with confidence. Thank you for being a part of them. 🤍⭐️

For as bad as the halo show is I really really want them to get a season 3 and onward. Watching the games get adapted to tv on a budget is fascinating, genuinely.

Weirdly enough the most engaging scenes in the show (halo 2 sweep?) are still anything with exclusively covenant characters. For as little as they appear in the show (budget) they’re genuinely well done. The latest episode had a really nasally Elite priest which was fun.

Like, is it because the CGI is expensive, so they’re forced to think about what they’re going to make their characters say? Is that the only time they realize dialogue has to be strategic in its purpose? Terrible show. I kind of love it at this point. Not ironically, it’s just bad- but I love bad tv.

Happy birthday to Kalmiya!

Today is her -513th birthday!

Kalmiya was a "smart" AI created by Dr. Catherine Halsey. Her primary purpose was to test prototypes of cyberwarfare and infiltration technology. Once tested and refined, the software and subroutines would then be incorporated into Cortana, giving her capabilities far beyond the rest of her kind. In this way, Kalmiya can be considered Cortana's predecessor.

Halsey extended Kalmiya's functionality by making subtle--and illegal--changes to her over time, which were so small that only Halsey noticed. UNSC protocol dictated that Kalmiya was to be decommissioned once her testing was complete, which Halsey outright disobeyed. Halsey kept Kalmiya until the fall of Reach, where she would have to either be sent away with the Forerunner data she was researching under CASTLE base, or destroyed to keep her out of the Covenant's hands. Ultimately, Halsey choose to let Cortana be the custodian of the data, believing that Kalmiya was the more unstable choice due to her longevity.

Halsey activated a fail-safe destruction protocol in Kalmiya, having previously lied to her about the existence of such a subroutine in her code. Despite this, Kalmiya was understanding and seemingly accepted her termination.

Seven years later, Blue Team returned to Reach to access Halsey's lab. Her lab contained a cryo-vault with additional clones she'd made of herself to extract their brains and use to make artificial intelligence like Cortana. The hope was that the brains could be used to make an artificial intelligence that would functionally be a clone of Cortana, which they could use to stop her after she began subjugating the galaxy. One of these clones would be used to create the Weapon.

When John and Kelly arrived at the lab, they were surprised to find a damaged Kalmiya keeping watch over the vault. They surmised that Kalmiya created a fragment of herself before her destruction to ensure the survival of the samples. After bypassing her with a security code, they left as the ghostly fragment watched them.

Does that count as alive?? I guess she was never "alive". I don't know man I just throw birthday parties here.

In canon (~2560), she is turning 23!

I'm not buying another copy of this album, I fucking have three. I bought the basic ass CD before they released signed versions. So I'm getting two CDs, and I have this digital download.

Dumb. Overkill. I hate this is how pop music is now.

I'll just have to wait until all the extra songs end up on streaming. We got a Y2K song today, so I'm betting we'll get one each for the other three decades.

Annnnnnd that sucks!!! I don't want to buy four copies of the same album to hear every song!!!

It double sucks because Alice in the Upper Class is really, really fucking good. I think it might actually be my favorite on the record. And 90% of fans haven't heard it yet, and won't, any time soon.

So here's hoping the three other songs suck, I guess, lmfao.

realized that the "ha-aah" vocals in lonely is the muse after the chorus are the same vocals from the people disappear here chorus..... when you're done you can discard me like the others always do and i will nurse my wounds until another artist needs me new...... i tried to let her be someone, hoping when the morning comes she's not another hit and run... i hurt myself to make sure i exist i need someone to tell me how i feel .... i can always reassemble to fit perfectly for you or anybody that decides that im of use.... she has my name but not my face.... i was built from special pieces that i've learned how to unscrew.....!!!!!!!!!!
