me: oh the trophy for the chinese gp looks really fucking cool with its nod to the traditional laurel wreath design combined with dragon scales, i wonder if there's any pics on tumblr-
[finds post where everyone in the tags is making omegaverse dog collar jokes because the trophy lights up when you wear it around your neck]
me: nevermind i forgot this place was a godless wasteland
#i dont. i dont know what i expected#i think the Wearable Trophy gimmick is kinda silly but it would be sick as hell if it was a headdress rather than a necklace#like a proper laurel wreath or a halo

Lakota Trinity by the late artist Father John Giuliani
"In this image, the great Father—Wakan Tanka—appears with a full headdress of eagle feathers in a halo of light.
His open hands deliver the Son, a victorious Sioux warrior whose raised arms and open hands reflect a similar gesture of self-giving.
He wears a richly decorated buckskin war shirt—heavily fringed, beaded and painted with the four color circle of the universe as its breast plate.
The eagle represents the Holy Spirit and completes the spiral of trinitarian love and unity."

I hear so many people hating on the Olympics for showing drag queens reenacting the Last Supper. That does seem pretty blasphemous. I'm curious to hear your thoughts about that
The morning after the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony, my mom expressed her disgust at drag queens recreating da Vinci’s "Last Supper" and said it’s fine if they don’t believe but they shouldn’t mock others. I had no idea what she was talking about, I watched the opening ceremonies but I missed that. She admitted she didn't notice it either but it was all over her morning news.
Tbh, I figured if she was going to be offended by anything, it would be the multi-racial ménage à trois
Or possibly the guillotined Marie Antoinette holding her head
I found online that what she was referring to is what took place on a bridge over the river Seine. There was a table with a red carpet down the middle which served as a catwalk. At the center of the table was seated a woman wearing a silver headdress, surrounded by some drag queens and dozens of dancers and artists. Models featuring fashions from France's most promising young designers walked the runway.
The specific part of the ceremony that caused the offense was a closeup of the people at the table. The tableau was reportedly based on a painting by Dutch artist Jan Harmensz van Biljert called "Feast of the Gods," painted in 1635, and is housed in the Musée Magnin in Dijon, France. In the painting, the Greek gods on Mount Olympus have a banquet to celebrate the marriage of Thetis and Peleus.
The figure seated at the center of the table is Apollo, being the sun god he has a halo of light around his head.
One thing I liked is they updated the idea of Apollo with his lute to be portrayed by French DJ Barbara Butch with her equipment. Barbara advocates for several causes, such as acceptance of obese people and lesbian rights. She says her "aim is to unite people, gather humans & share love through music for all of Us to dance & make our hearts beat at unisson! Music sounds better with all of Us!"
They also had a blue Dionysus, the Greek god of wine, fruit, vegetation, and festivities.
All that meaning wasn't explained during the broadcast and went over my head, but I guess it makes sense to have a scene in the Olympics that gives a nod to the Greek gods, where the Olympics began, and which is meant to convey celebratory festivities, and is based on a painting housed in a French museum.
Even though there was no iconography like bread, wine, or even a bag of gold coins, having a bunch of folks on one side of the table reminded some people of Leonardo da Vinci's "Last Supper" painting.
The ceremony’s artistic director Thomas Jolly has said it was meant to celebrate diversity and pay tribute to feasting and French gastronomy. "The idea was to create a big pagan party in link with the God of Mount Olympus — and you will never find in me, or in my work, any desire of mocking anyone," Jolly said.
My guess is that if drag queens wanted to portray the Last Supper, they're talented enough that it would've been clear that was the intent.
Even if they meant to portray the "Last Supper," that painting has been recreated in many creative ways and I've never heard anyone upset about it, but maybe in this case they're upset because there were queer people involved. They forget that it is a queer painting, having been done by one of the most famous gay men in history, with one of the characters at the table being modeled on da Vinci's own lover Salaì.
Let's say the Olympic organizers did intend for this scene to be reminiscent of the "Last Supper," I'm good with it. Jesus would invite everyone to have a seat at the table, which is a good message for the Olympics to convey, all are welcome. No person at that table would be excluded from Jesus' table, but there's a number of Christians who would exclude themselves if it meant not having to sit with queer people and others they perceive as sinners, which is ironic since Christianity teaches that we're all sinners.
In summary, I think some people misinterpreted the intention of what was presented, and a group of conservative media types promoted that misinterpretation to cause outrage because that would generate views and clicks. Most people who are angry by this weren't upset when they saw it originally aired, they are furious because they were told that they should be upset about it.

and yeah actually arcane's portrayal of radicalization and how fascists rise to power is actually really cool. ambessa wearing a headdress that looks like a halo, framing herself as a god-leader savior of the people. ambessa using residual class rage to inspire action. references to "degeneracy" to frame the action as a form of cleansing, maintaining purity. using the rhetoric of us (chosen) vs them (wrong). the power of rhythm, aesthetics. welcome back triumph of the will (1935)

yes, that French Olympic Opening Ceremony was so fantastic that the International Olympic Committee has now deleted the YouTube video of its own opening ceremony and is issuing DMCA copyright claims against anyone who posts footage (even legally allowable small snippets), and getting people banned from X. Way to go Olympics!
For an international forum that is supposed to be about unity of nations around shared love of sports....., offending hundreds of millions of Christians worldwide, grown men exposing their genitals in front of children and general degeneracy seems to still matter. If inclusivity means that families with children worldwide have to tolerate a celebration of debauchery without comment...... then inclusivity needs a redefinition..............
Now the French are making the argument that it wasn't a depiction of "The Last Supper", but of "The Feast of the Gods" by Jan van Bijlirt..... but then I have to ask the question: why is the figure in the middle wearing a glittering "halo" headdress like Jesus in the DaVinci's "Last Supper" painting???? Also, as to your argument that the Mona Lisa is also a DaVinci painting and is in the Louvre..... I have to say, then the French maybe should have mocked the Mona Lisa instead of a painting they don't own!
Apparently, we have gotten to the point where it is not possible to celebrate our togetherness and unity without some group of people being insulted and offended by their inclusion or exclusion. So corporations, sponsors, TV channels, the IOC, social media etc. are going to have to decide who exactly they want to leave offend......
I wonder if you've done any reflecting or re-calibration on your take the French Olympic Opening Extravaganza?
Nope, I haven’t. Because
1. I have other things and issues that are more local, more consequential, and more personal for me to worry about than a 15-second blink-and-miss-it tableau performed halfway around the world 2 days ago. Issues like losing my rights to exist as a free independent single woman and sick elderly nonagenarian grandparents.
2. I don’t spend my free time doomscrolling the news, social media, and the internet and getting sucked into algorithms that exploit my dislikes.
3. I have better things to do on a weekend than sit at home and fixate on criticism of an event that had nothing to do with me and that I *chose* to watch. I watched it. I liked it. Then I went to Waffle House and moved on.
4. I believe in personal responsibility. If I’m offended by my *choice,* then I understand I can only be angry and upset with *myself* so accordingly, I blame myself. I don’t go around blaming everyone else and forcing everyone else to be accountable to my personal mistake and bad choice.
It’s France. The French have different attitudes, different beliefs, and different cultural expectations than anywhere else around the world. They are much more lax in their attitudes towards romance and relationships. They are much more liberal in their attitudes towards religion and personal rights. If you knew that - and if you were watching the ceremony then you knew that - and you *still* chose to keep watching the program to see the drag queens and this mockery of Christianity that you’re so upset over, than that’s *your* choice. If you kept watching after Lady Gaga’s performance where the dude in short-shorts accidentally exposed himself, that was *your* choice. If you kept watching after the love/threesome scene, that was *your* choice. If you kept watching after the US livestream showed a statue of the woman who got abortion rights encoded in French law, that was *your* choice.
You didn’t have to watch the program. You didn’t have to keep watching the program. Woke hedonistic leftists did not break into your house, hold you at gunpoint, and force you to watch it or consume media/content about it. That was *your* choice. You could’ve turned it off at any time. But you didn’t. And so you saw things you didn’t like and now you want an entire country and culture to grovel and beg in an apology for *your* own personal decision to watch in the first place?
The IOC is caving to your demands because they need the money and support from the US to exist. That’s the only reason why they’re pulling videos down and censoring the ceremony. Not because the French did something wrong, but because a special group of Americans with enough political and media power to cancel their support and donations perceived it as a direct, personal attack and are angry over it.
5. I think that people who use the Bible, religion, and faith as tools to control and judge people for actions and beliefs that have nothing to do with them or that personally affects their day-to-day lives have forgotten, or don’t understand, what it actually means to be a christian. Matthew 7: “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Or Leviticus 19: “Love thy neighbor as thyself”…which you might know more colloquially as the golden rule, “treat others as you wish to be treated.”
In other words: You be you. I’ll do me. I’ll let you be you however you want to be you and you let me be me however I want me to be me. But if you can’t let that be and you force me to be more like you, then we have a problem. This is what I meant last week when I said “don’t start with me and I won’t start with you.”
I don’t care what the topic is, if we’re talking about Meghan and Harry or the BRF or religion or politics or the Olympics or French culture. The second anyone demands I need to reflect or recalibrate or change my opinion is the second our conversation is over.
Look, you have every right to be offended and angry by what you saw. But you have no right to force everyone else to see it the way you do. I’m sorry if that upsets you, but I’m not changing the fact that I enjoyed the opening ceremony and thought it was a good time. It’s an opinion. Everyone’s got them, and everyone’s opinion is different. If you don’t like mine, then I wish you farewell and bid you good luck as you look for more likeminded company.
This is everyone’s final warning. If you keep coming at me about my opinion that I liked the opening ceremony, I’m going to clap back at you and it won’t be polite or respectful.

*back in the past Lucifer and Lilith were called to Heaven’s embassy talk about the solution to the alarming rate the population of Hell was growing, the pair walked into the embassy see an angel sitting at the table waiting for them, the angel wore robes with gold spikes at the collar and some sort of design on the robes that looked like an A, he wore a mask with gold eyes and gold fangs as well as a horned headdress, if it wasn’t for the gold halo and gold wings Lucifer would have thought that this was a demon, on each side of the angel were a pair of angels dressed in black and silver who also wore masks except one eye was an x and they had silver instead of gold*
Lilith: We have read over the proposition of Extermination Day and we will not accept Heaven coming down once a year to slaughter our people.
The angel: I am quite surprised that you care about something that isn’t yourself, you were such an unbearable bitch in life and I am sure you still are now that you are the Demon Bitch Queen of Hell.
Lucifer: Adam.
*Lucifer was shocked that his former friend was going to lead the charge against Sinners*
Adam (the angel): Frankly I am shocked you are still with Lilith, I would have thought that you would have eventually seen the mistake you made and dumped her.
*Lucifer flipped the very large table and flew across the room so he could pin Adam against the wall while the two angels at Adam’s side now had their spears pointed at Lucifer*
Lucifer: Don’t speak of my wife that way!!!!!!!!
Adam: You are in no position to make demands, but I can be generous. We only go after Sinners but your family and Hell Born will be left alone. If you don’t agree to this Sera will have the other archangels ask God to destroy Hell, do you want your daughter to be destroyed, I would do anything to protect my children.
*Adam hoped Lucifer would see his plan was preferable to Sera’s plan*
Lilith: Don’t agree to Extermination Day, we can rise up against Heaven.
Adam: That attitude is why is why Heaven must take action against Hell.
*faces Lucifer*
Adam: I know you are not truly evil, sacrifice some Sinners to save your daughter and Cain.
*Lucifer let go of Adam, he saw a glimmer of the man he once was in Eden*
Lucifer: Fine, you can have your Extermination Day for Charlie.
*Lilith grit her teeth as Lucifer signed the agreement and left, Lilith waited for the two angels to leave and cornered Adam just placing one hand on his chest and leaned close to him in an almost intimate manner, it pleased her to feel her ex husband tremble at her touch*
Lilith: Know this, you may have your little victory today, but I still have Lucifer’s love, it’s something you will never have because you were always such a hideous creature. In fact it looks like you have become a bit of a fat ass now.
*Lilith let her hand move down and she squeezed his stomach, she laughed when instead of feeling the firm abs he used to have, his stomach felt a little round and soft*
Adam: Don’t fucking touch me bitch.
*Adam was trying to sound tough, but his his voice was strained as if he was about to start crying, Lilith smiled and kissed Adam’s masked lips knowing he would hate that*
Lilith: Farewell Adam.
*Lilith left and Adam went back to Heaven and quickly handed to agreement to Sera before flying to his home where Eve was waiting for him, Eve gently peeled off only the mask leaving the headdress, tears were falling from Adam’s eyes and more were threatening to fall*
Eve: It’s ok my love, I am here.
*Eve caressed his cheek and Adam just leaned into it*

We spent our mini-moon in Paris, and, being the huge nerds that we are, we of course had to visit the Louvre. Prepare for a picspam of the objects we found most interesting!
Ostracon of a Bull attacking a man, Deir el-Medina, Ramesside period (~1295-1069 BC) I’m intrigued by the man’s headpiece, is he carrying cloth or rope, or is it a halo? https://collections.louvre.fr/en/ark:/53355/cl010008504
Model of three women making beer, MK (~2033-1670 BC) This is a reference to @thatlittleegyptologist because of her viral pub quiz post ^^° https://collections.louvre.fr/en/ark:/53355/cl010026102
Figurine of a cat with two kittens, Late period (~664-332 BC) BABIES KITTIES AAAHHH https://collections.louvre.fr/en/ark:/53355/cl010009998
Detail of the sarcophagus of Nakhtkhonsuiru, 22nd Dynasty (~943-731 BC) GREEN PUBBY? GOOD PUBBY! https://collections.louvre.fr/en/ark:/53355/cl010029126
Magical Papyrus, Deir el-Medina, 20th Dynasty (~1186-1069 BC) Look at all these fancy demons! https://collections.louvre.fr/en/ark:/53355/cl010003526
Magic knife, late 12th Dynasty (~1862-1686 BC) Also called birth tusk, made from hippopotamus ivory, probably apotropaeic. More fancy demons! https://collections.louvre.fr/en/ark:/53355/cl010007235
Female Figurine, Middle Kingdom (~2000-1850 BC) Also called a Bride of the Dead, I love her tattoos! https://collections.louvre.fr/ark:/53355/cl010007299
Tiiiiny amulets of Seth, 17th Dynasty (~1630-1550 BC) SO TINY! With a boopable snoot! https://collections.louvre.fr/en/ark:/53355/cl010009291
Female Figurine, Gebel Zeit, 2nd Intermediate Period (~1686-1069 BC) There’s a whole bunch of these figurines in the Louvre and I’d honestly never seen those before, they’re really intriguing! They’re described as Figurines of women honouring Hathor over on Wikipedia. https://collections.louvre.fr/en/ark:/53355/cl010030514
Fayence Bracelet, Amenhotep III (~1390-1352 BC) I would wear this! You can very nicely see “imn-Htp HqA wAs.t” written in the cartouche! https://collections.louvre.fr/ark:/53355/cl010007064
Bowl with painting of Taweris, 18th Dynasty (~1550-1425 BC) Ok this *might* be some other badass hippopotamus- or even cow-shaped deity, (Mehet-Weret anyone?), but isn’t she amazing? https://collections.louvre.fr/en/ark:/53355/cl010037508
Ostracon with a cat and mouse, Deir el-Medina, Ramesside period (~1295-1069 BC) Remember that post by @neil-gaiman? About Pharao Pnw? Here’s another one, Pnw VI! https://collections.louvre.fr/en/ark:/53355/cl010051679
Ostracon showing Meretseger, Deir el-Medina, Ramesside period (~1295-1069 BC) Meretseger (my beloved) was the local deity of Deir el-Medina, she’s usually depicted as a very wiggly snek, sometimes with a fancy headdress :3 https://collections.louvre.fr/en/ark:/53355/cl010003996
Stela of Taperet, Thebes, 22th Dynasty (~745-730 BC) LAZER-RA STRIKES AGAIN! PEW PEW PEW https://collections.louvre.fr/en/ark:/53355/cl010017961
Etrurian plate, Gnathian Style (~300-275 BC) FLOOF! Possibly a puppy, possibly a mythological creature, definitely pettable! https://collections.louvre.fr/en/ark:/53355/cl010302663
Cypriot vase, Geometric style (~850-600 BC) Uh, so according to the Louvre this is a dog??? Did it get stung by a bee??? And other literature says it’s a lion??? Anyway, cute creature! https://collections.louvre.fr/en/ark:/53355/cl010131699

Selfaware bsd x imposter sagau (ch 1
It had been a couple months since bsd cast had come to the real world, things so far have been going smoothly, but…I have been getting these strange dreams ... .of this biblical accurate type being. There is also a golden star on my forehead…it's weird.
……………………………………………………
Reader pov.
“Huh!? Oh …it's this place again”
An angel-like being appears, two white ribbons with golden edges that cross horizontally over its head, golden eyes on said ribbons. A head dress draped on its head, its color was snow white with rich golden edges, the back of it faded to white towards the bottom of it. Golden stars on golden chains hung from under the headdress. A gold star similar to mine on its forehead. A pair of small white wings were in the place where ears would have been. Golden halo hovers atop its head, shining with pure light and power. Long white robes cover its body, detailed with golden stars. Two large white wings, golden on the inside of them.
“Don't be afraid my child, I am not here to harm you ….” The being spoke, it's aura one of purity.
“Wh-what are you…. And why do you keep visiting me?” I asked, very confused as to why it was here, much less visiting me.
“I am th-”
I wake up to the smell of food, more specifically French toast and eggs. I also hear faint sounds of chuuya telling osamu to get out of the kitchen. Another chance to get answers wasted. I would have to try and take a nap later and hope that it would visit me. I sigh. I try to go back to sleep only to be woken up by a certain jester. “Wakey wakey, eggs and backy!” The platinum Blonde magician exclaims. “Five more minutesssss please” I mumble into the pillow, still tired and wanting answers from the being I keep seeing in my dreams. Unfortunately, he did not agree. “No, can do birdy.” I feel the mattress that I am on Creek with his weight. “Ok, I will get up” I groan, accepting defeat. “Wonderful, the chihuahua is making breakfast.” “I HEARD THAT YA ASS!” Chuuya yells from the kitchen, not happy about being called a dog.
“But it's true chuuuyaaaa.” Dazai teases.
“Shut it Markle!” Chuuya shouts at the taller male.
……………………………………………………
Hayo, it moon. This took a little longer than expected to doo, and I don't really know how to continue but I kinda have an idea. Hope you guys enjoyed it tho, till next time

Garuda, Judge, Germa 66, The Divine
@sangerie Perfect timing that you bring up Garuda in your reply, because I remembered a while ago that I didn't check what Judge's current belt looks like when I made that other post and I was just about to make a new post about my findings.
---
I messed up and completely forgot to check when I made that other post. That was just more of an idle thought, though, not something I really wanted to analyse or make theories out of. This one is the (conspiracy) theory/analysis post.
Artistically this is big enough difference that I cannot chalk it off as "simplification/wonky artwork because of image size":
Plus, the "simpler" shape from the MADS flashbacks would be drawn long after the WCI arc. So this has to be a purposeful change on sensei's part.
What was it beforehand and why the change? What is the newer shape supposed to be?
So anyway, that realisation prompted me to look into Karura (the Japanese interpretation of Garuda) because I thought the current belt shape looks like the helmet Judge is wearing, which in turn vaguely reminds me of headdresses in Buddhist gods' statuary.
I think there could be connection between the two in terms of design:
Like, his hair could look reminiscent of the Karura's "fire halo".
The Karura in Japan is a being who is heavily associated with flames (which happens to also look like number 6 spirals in the statue, very interestingly). Some Buddhist teaching even say the Karura either manifests itself as flames, or lends its flames in support to other deities.
Karura's "fire halo" behind Fudou Myou'ou:
This I find to be even more curious, because in the first place Garuda is divine being, and Garuda's "holy flame" is something that purifies evil. Judge seems to be awful in every way, so why give him a nickname that's based on a holy being? Is this just irony, or is this a hint that there's something weird going on that has yet to be revealed? (something in their ancient history?)
Also, about the "69" in the skull's eyes. Even Sanji's Stealth Black/Osoba Mask belt has that "69" element, even if it's in the little wings on the sides and not the skull's eyes. Is that symbol so important that it needs to be everywhere? (to sangerie, if you see this: Niji's belt still has that 69, even much later in the cover story, it just sometimes look wonky in the art because it's too small)
That symbol is known in Japan as "two tomoe" (considered different from yin yang by the Japanese). A tomoe is that comma like shape, and the Germa one is specifically the "right curling" one, because there are versions of it that goes the opposite direction.
A tomoe is also a divine symbol, so it's very frequently seen as the "crest" of shrines. Funnily enough the origin of the tomoe symbol is actually water, but I'm not sure if sensei would go out of his way to research that. If he was using this as a purposeful symbol I feel like he's using it more in the generic divine/shrine related usage.
It's a symbol you see in the drums used by the the Raijin (god of thunder), which also was the design inspiration for Enel.
Interesting thunder/lightning connection there. It's 3, though, and not 2, so I'm not sure if this means anything.
You see that exact symbol with just two in Wano, though it's turned 90 degrees anticlockwise:
I have wondered multiple times if the Vinsmokes have connection to Wano in their past. Even literally just a few hours ago I made a post mentioning the same thing. I always worry that I'm making too deep of a reach, but every now and then I still wonder.
It also has historical connection in Japan, since a two tomoe design is a common samurai crest. I highly doubt it's related to this, but that exact "69" shaped crest is the crest strongly associated with the 47 Ronin.
The interesting thing about the 47 Ronin is that even though they're typically celebrated as heroes who defeated an evil lord even to this day, by historical accounts the 47 ronin were actually the ones in the wrong and the guy they had revenge on wasn't a tyrant or corrupt official. Still, I don't think this has any relevance.
I mean, there's nothing about Germa that suggests that "they seem evil, but actually they're secretly good".
I will admit there is a part of me that is developing a suspicion that there could be a random twist where Germa's whole point was "their motivation/end goal is not bad, but their methods is what's really absolutely disgusting" for various reasons. As in, what if their desire to conquer the North Blue is not just for greed or power, but for a bigger goal beyond it, and this "bigger goal" might not be entirely bad.
I doubt it, because so far everything that we've been shown is just nasty. I'm just automatically suspicious because the World Government labelled them evil, and I don't trust WG.
It could just be something like "they're so evil, that even demons are disgusted", though.
