HAZY ENCOUNTERS | CHAPTER ONE

1 | i really hope i don’t sweat away my silk press
ANDREA
I quietly put on my shoes, as the clock on my phone read, 3:47. Not in the afternoon, in the morning. Esmé was sprawled out on the couch, snoring awfully loud after me, she, and Jay stayed up until two last night. Jay was on the floor, mouth open, as he quietly breathed in and out with his lighter intertwined between his fingers. I looked through my bag for a writing utensil and something to write on, until I came across an old TJmaxx receipt and a green highlighter.
i’ll be back around 10, i’m going to bring breakfast, text me if jay wants some
-- andrea
I tiptoed to the kitchen and stamped the note onto the fridge with our stray fruit magnet.
Then, I tiptoed to the door and closed the door behind me.
I groaned as I checked the time on my phone again, another five-hour shift at Ulta Beauty awaited me. The endless shelves of makeup and skincare products always made me question if I was just another person in the world of consumers. From nine to five, I always wondered if I was the visitor or the captive animal. Stocking shelves from philosophy body washes to La Roche Posay facial cleansers, all the way to Fenty Beauty gloss bombs. This shift was usually just me, and sometimes Joanna, my manager was there.
Joanna was the textbook definition of lazy. Ever since she was promoted to task associate manager, she slacked off. She stays on her phone most of the time, in the back, and doesn’t really do shit. Yeah, sometimes she cleans the testers, but we all do that.
She only really works when we don’t do anything in return for her not doing anything.
I walked down the hallway of the third floor, and the ambient lighting flickered every few minutes, as I made my way down to the elevator. Acacia Apartment Plaza held three different buildings and Esmé and I were in building C. Building C was nestled in the far right corner of said plaza. The air had an odor of cooking oil, which sometimes added a layer of mustiness.
This building was the worst out of all the three, as the parking sucked, and the lines were uneven. Lights flickered in the hallway all the time, and it was lowkey sketchy.
Thank the Lord our neighbor across from us was this huge guy, who said if anything happens, he’ll interfere.
Yawning as I rubbed my eyes, unlocked my phone, tapped on Spotify, and played Go Ahead With All That by Chanté Moore. Esmé put me on. I popped my AirPods in both ears, and I tucked my straight red hair behind my ear as it was currently in silk press form, and I clicked the lobby button.
Tomorrow, I have lunch with Elanna, Lucia, and Esmé. Elanna said that Irene might be joining us, and I didn’t mind.
Irene, Elanna, and Lucia’s childhood friend go to a different university. Almost every time I crossed paths with Irene, she was not sober. Either high or drunk. Usually high. Elanna told me that she and Irene met back in freshman year of high school. Lucia on the other hand met Irene through their mothers, as their mothers are incredibly close.
It’s weird being friends with people who already knew each other beforehand. But, at least Elanna and Lucia ignore that fact, but Irene couldn’t care less. We aren’t friends, we don’t talk to each other. We don’t even follow each other on Instagram. I tried connecting with her, but she put no effort into our conversations.
Another thing to add is that she had a girlfriend, well, had one. I forgot her name, but she had electric bright blue hair that contrasted against my fiery red hair, which pretty much made us polar opposites.
I always wondered if she liked me. Irene specifically. Like I said, she put no effort into our conversations, so she probably didn’t. It was weird every time Irene came into my mind, because why do I care so much if someone likes me? There are plenty of people who don’t like me but why does Irene bother me the most?
┆彡
“Drea?” The voice called out behind me, pulling me from my focused search for toilet paper. I turned to find Elanna.
“Oh, hey,” I acknowledged, my eyes lighting up with recognition. It was weird when I didn’t expect her. I was sweating despite the AC on because I’d been on my feet all day, and that was when I noticed Irene. The black girl who I was pretty sure hated me with an afro and a gold nose piercing, rummaging through Elanna’s bag, “Do you have gum?” Elanna swatted Irene’s hand away from her red tote bag, “Nigga, get away from my belongings.”
Irene rolled her eyes and took out her phone.
“Oo, your hair is even cuter in person,” Elanna hyped me up, referencing to my Instagram story from yesterday. I moved the stray hair out of my face as I currently had my silk press up in a half up half down style with two stray hairs framing my face.
Walmart was a very unlikely setting for reunions, but there I was. Elanna had two things in her hand, and I took them as some pressed powder and some pads.
Behind Elanna, Irene again caught my attention. Irene wore gray sweatpants with a boxer waistband peeking out, paired with a tight white compression shirt. Her Crocs were littered with jibbitz, and a singular gold banded ring adorned her middle finger. She had a very intricate tattoo with multiple faces attached to one, and the large spider tattoo looked so good.
I always thought Irene was objectively attractive, but at the time didn’t tell anyone because I was with Liana. Irene turned around, with annoyance lacing her features, and Elanna sniffed her. “Irene, are you fucking high?” Elanna’s groan interrupted my observations, drawing my focus to the interaction between the two.
Irene rolled her eyes and replied, “What? It’s allowed in here.”
Her voice, which was surprisingly deep and raspy, carried a hint of annoyance.
I side-eyed her, knowing that probably wasn’t true. Well, it is Walmart after all.
It went silent before Elanna’s snort broke the silence, “Fucking addict,” she muttered, earning a sharp glare from Irene. “Nigga, talk to me when you get your money up. Broke bitch.”
Irene’s eyes were red, and I also noticed that she had her nails painted black, as she pointed her finger in Elanna’s direction. We were still in the aisle when an older woman walked by us and we exited the aisle.
“Sounds like someone just got her paycheck,” Elanna sighed, prompting a shove from Irene. “Shut up, nigga.”
Irene rolled her eyes as she blew out a gust of smoke, her gaze shifting to me. The woman in the aisle we were just in gave Irene a dirty look, and I sighed, going to where Jaya was standing.
“I need to pee.” She loudly whispered in Elanna’s ear, prompting Elanna to dumbly look at her. “Nigga, find the bathroom then,” giving her a nasty look. Irene scoffed and left to go use the bathroom.
“We gotta go to the post office after this. So, hurry your ass up,” Elanna called out, and Irene continued to walk, ignoring Elanna.
“Why are you going to the post office?” I asked her as we left the aisle, and she looked at her nails, “Shipping something off to a friend.” I hummed in response.
I love Elanna, trust me, but I need to go. I have laundry waiting, along with the comfort of Abbott Elementary reruns and a steaming bowl of noodles. My everything shower loomed tomorrow, a chore I couldn't postpone anymore. Esmé probably ate all the damn noodles anyway.
I really hope I don’t sweat away my silk press.
“Bye, Drea,” Elanna waved, and I turned around noticing Irene next to her now. A sharp smack echoed behind me, and I turned again to see Elanna's hand connecting with Irene's arm. “Nigga, help me with all this stuff,” she demanded.
Irene gasped, rubbing her arm. “All this stuff is like a pound. Please, if you keep talking to that lanky ass white boy your baby will weigh that much.” Elanna grabbed Irene’s hair, “I will fight you.”
“Ow, ow, o—”

Umm a little yap session but uhhh I got a head canon that these guys are a family that runs a bookstore. Like the older lady is the mother and the kid with the brown hair and light blue glasses is the younger brother and they together they own this bookstore.🫶🏽
Like here she reminds me of how a mother would be acting...always just scolding you for the littleness things LOL😭. and for that kid he's just your typical annoying younger brother with he's friend and they both be brothering the crap out of you just for shits and giggles. But regardless you still care about him yk...
And yeah I also like to think her name is Marrow/Mara or Mar Mar for a nickname instead of the Brook Fan girl, as well that shes Haitian + Dominican mix butttt I think that's just personal from me LOL.
also shes gay... so yeah🤭❤️🧡🤍🩷💜
IDK I COULD BE REACHING BUT I JUST REALLY LOVE THIS EP AND THIS GIRL TOO SO YEAH LMAOOAOO. I hope yall like this little idea/ head canons i got for Marrow! MORE OC X CANON IN THE FUTURE FROM ME AND YEAH PEACE OUT😎🫡

(unrelated but the combo emoji keyboard showed me some...interesting...pencil themed emojis as I was typing those)
THREE ocs?! CLEARLY i need to talk about kim, pat, and corey, aka THEE ot3 aka my oldest ocs!!!
first and foremost, they do Not have an actual story. i throw them into aus like u wouldnt believe. why give them One story when they could have Every story ykwim?
kimberly marie addams, my dearest lovliest sweetest girl who has done nothing wrong, ever, in her life. she's originally from boston, bc duh. she's 2nd gen haitian-dominican on her fathers side and african-american-creol on her mothers. her parents got divorced when she was a child (i Have a reason why but i fear ive made her backstory too sad so?? might change??) and lived with her father growing up. her relationship with her mother, who moved back to new orleans after the divorce, is.....complicated, but theyre working on it. she has a baby half sister sister lucy, who's like. 16 years younger than her (........this might be why i love the buckleys so much........hold on..........) and kimberly loves her more than anything else on this planet.
kimberly is THE ORIGINAL singer/performer oc. it all started with her. it's actually how she meets patrick and corey. after she graduated hs, she and her best friend moved to england (reason is also in flux. when i said they dont have One story i meant it) and while in a production of much ado (bc Duh) she meets her boys
patrick o'brian is 1st gen chinese-irish. he has two older sisters who Do baby him but like. in that kinda jokey way where theyre like "this is pat our BABIEST brother i just wanna pinch his cheeks and feed him soup" just over the top abt it, yknow? hes also Very close with his parents and FTs them every day. he moved to london for university and studied to be a social worker (or w/e the equivalent is in the uk. i havent bothered looking it up bc The Specifics Don't Super Matter). while in school, he volunteered at a local theatre just for something to do and to kinda expand his horizons bc he never Super cared abt theatre growing up. thats where he meets corey for the first time
corey page is welsh. he's SO welsh. his family has lived in the same house for roughly eight thousand generations. he is smack in the middle of 7 boys. his parents love them all sososo dearly but holy shit, its like living in a frat house sometimes. pour one out for his mother TRULY. he works as a stage hand/theatre tech, for pretty much the same reason as pat. he meets patrick first and the two of them just Click. corey is essentially a cryptid. kim will be on insta live and a glimpse of his elbow will appear in the doorway and everyone is like "why do i feel like a regency maiden losing it over seeing this man's elbow???" and kim is like "RIGHT??????" he rarely posts on social media and when he does its to brag abt his partners hes so PROUD OF THEM!!!!!! corey is full of tea and love for his partners.
they end up having four (4) children (me: more childless characters 2025!!!! also me: gives all my ocs children). i only have names for the first two (tabitha grace, after corey's nan and kimberly's mother, and robin, bc tabby was OBSESSED w the song rockin' robin while kim was pregnant and INSISTED the baby be named robin and they were all like 'well i mean its a nice name' and tabby is DELIGHTED and SMUG she LOVES being a big sister). the boys go back and forth putting their names on the birth certificates (they joke thats why they had an even number of kids, so the boys had an equal number of children) but they really could not give less of a shit over who the """real""" dad is (the first time someone brings it up kim just rolls her eyes and is like "well i guess we'll see if the baby looks chinese or white" like it does NOT matter and they dont understand why anyone GIVES A SHIT)
they started out as doctor who ocs, can u believe that???? look how far they've come. they went from having an actual story to Whatever The Hell This Is. i love them dearly and their ot3 tag is "spat forth from distant stars" in honor of their origins and they call themselves the biumvirate bc theyre all bi and corey is like "it just sounds like triumvirate that kicked someone out" but it delights kim and pat and COREY IS FULL OF TEA AND LOVE FOR HIS PARTNERS!!!!!
also kimberly's social media handle is addamslikethefamily which is fully irrelevant here but it makes me giggle so
#oc: kimberly addams#oc: patrick o'brian#oc: corey page#thank u for asking!!!!!!!#signed and delivered#piedoesnotequalpi#isabel

this was specifically requested BY Bree, so here we go🤷🏽♀️
“Hood Princess” bree
For starters, I wanna just get a little background info out the way before I do anything. Bree is Bahamian, says she doesn’t experience racism, and its v likely that she has never lived outside of the Bahamas. The official language of the Bahamas is English and Haitian Creole, as many people of Haitian decent LIVE on the island. Haitian Creole derived from FRENCH, lets keep this in mind.
so first I wanna address Bree’s ignorance/marginalization of Caribbean people.
In the DC server I said “maldito mamaguevo” right after having a disagreement over…this message

I thought it was obvious this was in a playful/joking manner, but maybe she took this as a personal attack/accusation. I would just like to say that if I suspected Bree abt this anon (which I didn’t because she had Honey BLOCKED for some reason during this), I wouldn’t have made a joke abt it. Not sent the SS to her. I would’ve made a mental note of it and kept it pushing.

When Bree first sent this message I was confused, because as you know I have Dominican family. I speak Dominican Spanish, and generally only rlly know Dominican slang that I’ve learned from my brother and his side of the family. So obvi I was confused because Bree makes it known she’s very much Bahamian, so I googled what language the Bahamas speaks and if it’s anything like Dominican Spanish !
As you can see, they don’t speak Spanish…so what was the point of saying “I’m Caribbean I know what this means?” Anyone can be Caribbean…White black Asian Latino. If you’re born in the Caribbean you’re Caribbean…so why does this equate to her speaking spanish?
so naturally i went to Dalia abt it cuz even tho I myself could feel this was iffy, I wanted to ask someone else who is more submerged in Dominican culture. And Dalia said this felt iffy, because she has marginalized the Caribbean before and hopped between different dialects that are…not her own! Like Jamaican patois

But besides that, lets address another issue w Bree before we dive into her history of supporting a miles smut writer.
As some of you may know, Bree used to refer to herself as a “hood princess” and used PLENTYYYYY of AAVE and african american culture in her works…lets break this down rq
Bree has earned herself a reputation as a rather aggressive and obnoxious blogger, doing absolutely nothing but fighting w gwiles Stans and “speaking her mind” abt things nobody really paid any attention to. She said she was a pale “natural blonde” girl (I haven’t seen shawty so idk wtf she looks like)

So why does she run around claiming the title of a “hood princess” when she 1, did not grow up in an American hood, and 2, is probably white passing from her own mouth?
for black children who grew up in the hood, you know it’s nothing to brag about. It’s a low income neighborhood, a “bootleg” version of a neighborHOOD. Hence the name. It’s an incomplete neighborhood.

When I had a general discussion w her about the fetishization of African American culture a week ago, she seemed mad avid to defend making the hood be your whole personality..trying to justify it by saying it “makes you think and act a certain way” which is v true! However I’ve never once tried to make myself into a sexxyred “hood princess” js cuz I grew up in a low income area. She even agreed that african american culture was fetishized, so I’m so confused as to why she was offended by my post yesterday?

So as to why she’s mad…idk. When I’ve talked to her abt this issue before, and I’ve literally just taken the issue online this time as a black creator
now let’s move on to Bree’s ableism️

I got her so mad she tried to tell me I was “half a chromosome away from a learning disability”…ok!!
But besides that, lets talk about her defending Anika!
So this summer, a popular creator by the name Anikaluv made a fic where miles had readers…nudes in his phone😭

Children should not be sending, keeping, or taking nudes of themselves or anyone else. Wether that’s 14, 15, 16, 17. Just DON’T! It’s illegal, and this fic glosses over the fact that it’s a disgusting crime. Not only that, but miles mother SEES the readers nudes…so😭
Bree immediately took to defend Anika, showing her support for her and saying if we keep complaining we won’t have anything to read☠️☠️

When this is Anika…and Bree DEFENDING Anika

Anika also wrote about the reader buying miles a thong?? At 15?? You don’t “read miles smut” but you sure read anikas work !
FYI…Anika was going to write about Reader and miles GRINDING in said lingerie. And Anika said she despises miles smut, and so did you! But at the end of the day that doesn’t change what you said

Here’s the screenshot you wanted ms. “People are gonna do what they do”
mouthful, but there we go

Meet The Students of Westshore High:
Khadija Saleh: Khadija is the student body president of Westshore High and the occasional righthand assistant of the principal. Born of Palestinian and Egyptian descent, she is a proud Arab who rallies her fellow students with impeccable speeches and a leading spirit. She gets her experience of being in front of the camera from being the school's morning show host. As Bailynn's closest human friend and confidant, she is supportive of her half-Jotuzon friend embracing her true identity.
Khadija enjoys go-kart racing with her friends, and studying ancient Egyptian mythology in her free time, an interest that she inherited from her Egyptian archeologist father - although she's more bonded with her Palestinian mother. She becomes fascinated with the unexplained phenomena surrounding the town of Westshore, and wants to dive deeper into the mythology of the Jotuzons.
Cassandra Levi: A Jewish-American theatre kid with an attachment to her mothers' baking, Cassandra is the tallest and klutziest of the team, but still knowledgable when it comes to Westshore's paranormal encounters. You can always find her in the library, researching on Jotuzons or getting caught up in a good fictional adventure.
Cassie may not be the bravest or the brightest, but she remains loyal and present to help her friends with their issues. She is a passionate member of the school's drama club and wants to be a movie director after she graduates. She lives in a downtown apartment with her two mothers, and her Labrador dog Licorice. Cassie is a lesbian but is unsure of whether she wants to start dating, but her first love is her moms' sufganiyot and challah bread. She is also fiercely anti-Zionism, and very protective of her friendship with Khadija.
Chelsea Taleb-Stiles: A Lebanese-American (or Christian Lebanese-American) fashionista and a respected member of Westshore High's cheerleading squad. With her go-go boots and signature pearl necklace, Chelsea mostly spends her time spreading gossip about the celebrities her rich white stepmother is associated with, while also showcasing her daily life on her internet vlog series.
Sharing the space with Terrina at Westshore High causes her to use her platform for good, giving the Jotuzons a positive social reputation to combat alien-phobic protests. She's also looking to go into the dating scene, though it can be a lot trickier than what she's seen in those sappy teen drama shows. All in all, she may come off as the typical mean girl, but she's a lot more fun and sweeter underneath her exterior.
Sprite De La Rosa: Sprite is a Mertilian of Afro-Dominican and Haitian descent, born within the depths of the Caribbean Sea. Currently residing in the Pacific Ocean, she was brought to Westshore after a ferocious storm separated her from her family. While she's learning to walk on her two human legs, Sprite is educating her fellow students about her Dominican culture, and she even gets to be a beautician and hairstylist for many of her friends, believing in the value of Black and Latina haircare.
Sprite is a hopeless romantic who always loves good romantic fiction, whether they're in movies or books. She's eagerly waiting for her true love to come her way, but she values the love and care of her new team. At school, Sprite is a volleyball player, but is hesitant about joining the swimming team, as she is wearing her magical shell necklace to hide her mermaid secret from the other students.
Izzy Scott: Sassy, unorthodox, and full of pride, Izzy Scott doesn't care what people think of them. They have a fashion sense and a mindset of their very own. Izzy identifies themself as a nonbinary, autistic lesbian - the ultimate triple threat to society! - but all they really want is to make new friends and maintain a friendship.
Izzy lives with their divorced father, who may have a hard time understanding their gender identity but loves his child unconditionally for all of their decisions. They are a member of the school's soccer team, they love to dance around in P.E. class, and they have a hard time focusing in the classroom when they're watching videos in the middle of learning. Izzy may not come off as a social butterfly, but they're passionate about spending time with their team and embracing the fun of being part of a team.

──★ so this inspired by Jungkook’s Seven MV also I’m a sucker for Ao’nung and this fucking trope so why not! I’m actually really excited for this it’s been such a long time since I’ve written for a fanfic and after rewatching atwow it kinda awoke something in me to write something again!
I wrote this with a latina reader in mind cause of Zoe Saldaña and headcanon that Modern!Neytiri would be a mix of Caribbean and Indigenous Latino (Dominican or Haitian). The reader’s physical appearance will not described as Latinos come in a variety of different colors, shapes, and cultures and is a very very diverse community i hope that this doesn’t take away anyone’s experience reading this!
I also wanna know your guys option on the banner that I made it was kinda in a rush might change it later on but we’ll see how it holds up for now! happy reading ૮ ˶ˆ ﻌ ˆ˶ ა

Me trying to use astrology to predict on myself in regards to relationships. (Part 1)
I'm making this post to give an idea of how these predictions can work when it comes to meeting a future boyfriend/girlfriend or a future sexual partner. Obviously if you pay me to do these things then you can expect a similar or even better experience. Using astrology on myself I knew months in advance probably a year in advance but I just didn't paid much attention to it until the date got really close. The date of me meeting a future girlfriend or sexual partner. I knew the date would be October 3rd 2023 to November 16 2023. Now where exactly would I meet this person astrology has to show that.

Well looking at my sidereal birth chart you can easily see how I would meet that significant other at a bar, restaurant or strip club. Which is crazy because I don't even occupy those places especially not right now. I'm focused too much on my career. You could see it if you pay attention to the Venus that is conjunct Rahu in my 2nd house.

Which indicates many things like me having girlfriends or only attracting women that are foreign or exotic. Since Rahu represents foreign things.
Foreign in what capacity though? Well it depends on the actual individual.
Let me use my self as an example I only messed with chicks that have like two nationalities or there culture would be different from mines. The girls would be like Jamaican or Haitian. The whole time I'm just a regular Bahamian dude. I wouldn't realize this until I would find out their last names and be like I can't even pronounce that. Secondly I would attract girls that are biracial. It isn't exactly girls that are pretty (which they do be,) but Rahu makes the women I attract be foreign in a sense of different than what I'm accustomed to seeing. I can't speak Jamaican or anything like that but this conjunction would make me attract women that could due to the Rahu Venus conjunction. Shoots this conjunction can make a guy attract women that would look foreign to most people as well. Guys with this conjunction can attract, only have sex and date women that look way better than the average women. What makes them attractive is the women would have a distinct feature that most women don't have. You can even see it in their appearance.
For example a chick that has a bbl not every women has that. Not every women has a mixed skin complexion with long curly hair looking like they're from the Dominican republic or something. There's many different scenarios to how this conjunction can determine who a guy attracts use the rapper t.i. as an example. If you're a woman that has a boyfriend who has this conjunction. Then you can kinda consider yourself exotic or rare especially in the state or country he was born in. Even if you look closely at my chart Venus rules or is the lord of my 5th house in the 2nd house of money sources. This means a way of me earning money is through a speculative business where foreign women become the main consumers. Not just any women the sign Venus is in helps determine the women I would attract. You see the cancer sign. I see cancer and the ashlesha nakshatra. Ashlesha is about women that are into things like astrology, witchcraft, tarots, herbal medicines. Those women that are very spiritual. Women that are so spiritual they be rocking the dreadlocks even. Ashlesha women are into the occult, mystical stuff.
I played the game called kingdom hearts and they had this women name Ursula from the Ariel mermaid movie. I never watched the movie but Ursula reminds me of the ashlesha for some reason. Now it all makes sense whenever women from all around the world would send me money for readings and stuff like that. This debunks the beliefs that planets are only conjunct when they are close in degrees. Nope planets are conjunct as long as they are in the same sign. My conjunction proves it.

9, 12, 20 for Synn (and 21 'cause I know you'll have thoughts)
Thank you for the questions! I haven't forgotten. ==================================== 9. Are there cultural or lore specific aspects to their identity? If applicable, does their species (i.e. clan) affect it?
Yes. Syn (she/they) is of Dominican descent w/ parents from the Dominican Republic. Her father's lineage, in particular, is significant to her Embrace as her sire chooses her because she's a direct descendant of a vodou practitioner on her father's side. This lineage makes her vodou more potent in service to the Sabbat. Note: The lore, historically has the Sabbat present throughout the island of Hispaniola, both the Haitian and Dominican side. Both sides have their brand of 'Voodoo' which the Cobras (Serpents of the Light) look for in potential childer as a pre-requesite to practice at higher levels post-Embrace. (as a preference - anyone can be SoL, if a sire so chooses.) 12. Does/did your OC ever wish they could change the way they are? Why? If it's in the past, how did they get over the feeling? (this can be about internalized homo/transphobia). No. Syn found that she was attracted to girls in middle/high school and accepted it early as who she was, though she kept her feelings to herself, seeing that it was socially unacceptable. She had to "pass" as straight to avoid harassment, but she never wanted to be straight. 20. Have your OCs helped you in self discovery? How? Yes. I've found that I have a "type". When I was creating Syn, even down to her appearance, I was subconsciously creating someone that I would be attracted to. 21. Free ramble card wee I do have a lot more to say about Syn's background. She has a couple pages of backstory that I always have to chop down for a Chronicle to submit to the ST(s). (Also, in terms of appearance, I used the Character Creator of CP2077 plus mods to form the basis of her appearance. I had started out trying to re-create myself, but as I kept modifying her, she became someone else that slowly dawned on me was a...fantasy. I think I have rambled enough there, lol.

🍬 for a family headcanon
For three of your fave DC rogues!
Lourdes | Madame Nightshade
Lourdes's parents are very loving and worked hard to provide a good life for their children (bc unlike white Batfanon stans I know that poor people love their children more than the rich people they aspire to be do)
Her parents, Santiago and Lucero, are immigrants from the Dominican Republic and Cuba respectively
Lourdes is the eldest of eight
All of her siblings think she's a super elite businesswoman
She loves them as well but would rather not mix family with business unless it's Harvey/Harv and Cindy
Mona Lisa | Monochrome
Rohan, Mona's father, is Jamaican and her mother Louise is Haitian
Louise doesn't speak English very well and when she does, it's with a heavy accent
Rohan died when Mona was 17 from cancer
Louise was very fond of Francis so you can imagine her shock when Mona gets with Edward. She didn't trust him at first (he, in her words, was "too pasty" and "too green like a leprechaun") and lowkey still doesn't but tolerates him for her daughter and granddaughters
Roxy | Heavy Metalikka
Sally, Roxy's mom, is what motivated her to become the cop killer she is today after one broke into their house and threatened her in front of her daughter
Fortunately for Roxy, she is fatherless (not every girl needs her dad to flourish in life)
Sally does her best to be there for Roxy
Sally never liked Roxy's former Black Friday bandmates. She thought they were too pretentious and only cared about the fame and not the message

I feel as though I have so many thoughts and opinions and frustrations and pure agony over what is happening here, it truly is so difficult to put into words; I’ve tried many times to write this. This might be a little long.
I have very few memories of being a child, but the ones I do have will forever be engrained in who I am. I was born and raised in Miami, Fl as a young child, then later moved to Oklahoma. In Miami, I was a part of the minority. A little white girl with a slight Hispanic accent, which you can hear clearly in my kindergarten graduation video. I was taught both English and Spanish in my private Christian school. My friends were from Cuba, from Haiti, from the Dominican Republic; I would walk to my Haitian neighbor’s house where she would spend hours putting my hair in cornrows, giving me tips on how to upkeep them and I felt beautiful; no one blinked an eye except to tell me how pretty I looked. My friends and their families were immigrants. I would dress in outfits adorned with fruit for school performances and recite scripture in both Spanish and English. Everyone was kind, inviting, friendly. I was taught to love my neighbor as my own family and always respect those who are different, to the point I asked myself, as a child, “who is different?”
When I moved to Oklahoma I felt so out of place. I was sad and lonely. I didn’t understand why kids were so mean. I didn’t understand why we didn’t get to sing songs in Spanish anymore, or why Spanish speaking wasn’t even allowed in class. I didn’t understand why I got picked on for gravitating towards the Hispanic kids and trying my best to befriend them. I didn’t understand this new world I was living in, where there was so much animosity towards people who weren’t white. I had to learn how to fit in, with people who thought I was weird for growing up speaking both Spanish and English. I missed Miami and my friends there a lot.
The most welcome I have ever felt has been alongside immigrants. People who worked hard for their families and would give you the shirt off their back if you looked like you could use it. People who had strong family values, made amazing food, and who were always kind and welcoming and always ready for a party. People who were kind. People who didn’t judge you based on where you came from. People who were just - people.
Living in a red state under Trump is a living hell. There is no compassion for those who are different. There is only hate, only judgment, only prejudice. There is no loving your neighbor. There is no helping the needy. There is no opening your door for those who seek shelter.
I do not know why we are living in this hell. I have shed so many tears over it recently. I do not understand how anyone can be so hateful towards people they do not know. People who have only come here for better lives, only to be threatened, killed or kicked out because they don’t have fucking PAPERS and they aren’t white. People who are having their children ripped away from them. People who came here seeking asylum. You have the right to disagree with me, but at the end of the day, I will make this very clear - NO. HUMAN. BEING. IS. ILLEGAL. Fuck your racism, fuck your ignorance, fuck your misguided hate. And if you call yourself a Christian while supporting these mass deportations, I suggest you read your Bible a little more thoroughly. Specifically the part about Jesus’ teachings when it comes to foreigners.
This is NOT the America I was taught about in school. This is a divided, hate-filled cesspool of ignorance some still ignorantly call the “greatest country in the world”. Open your damn eyes. If you are afraid of people who aren’t white and speak another language, if you’re pissed off that you don’t get paid as much as someone who is bilingual, if you are spewing misinformation constantly and getting upset by posts like these, do some soul-searching as to why. Because at the end of the day, it does not have to be this way. We can live in peace and harmony with those who come from different places and backgrounds. Don’t assume everyone is a criminal bc they are different than you. In fact, maybe try talking to someone who came here from another country and simply ask them their story, even if it means you are using Google translate to get you through the conversation. Because the VAST majority of people coming into the US as immigrants, with OR without papers, are here solely to provide a better life for themselves and their families. And unless you are 100% Native American, you too are here because of your immigrant ancestors. WE TOO were foreigners on this land. So stfu about people coming here illegally when it’s quite literally the reason why you exist here, not to mention how fucked up it was that we destroyed Native Americans lives when we got here. Have some empathy, have some humanity, have some respect for other cultures that aren’t yours. THEY ARE NOT THE ENEMY.
I’ll leave you with these two quotes, both excerpts from Anne Frank’s diary. The first to sit with and recognize the similarity, the second as some form of hope. We must do better and stop history from repeating itself.
“Terrible things are happening outside. Poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes. Families are torn apart. Men, women, and children are separated. Children come home from school to find that their parents have disappeared.”
“In spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart. I simply can’t build up my hopes on a foundation consisting of confusion, misery, and death. I see the world gradually being turned into a wilderness, I hear the ever approaching thunder, which will destroy us too, I can feel the sufferings of millions and yet, if I look up into the heavens, I think that it will all come right, that this cruelty too will end, and that peace and tranquility will return again.”
