It’s not a coincidence, they’re definitely from the same pair

(the Crescent Moon Charm earrings, that is)

It’s not new to #clotination that the Crescent Moon Charm from FFVIIR is the same as the earring from Tifa’s mature dress and her OG dress, and they’re likely from the same pair because it’s just too perfect to be a coincidence. See: this Tweet, this recent, highly-recommended Tumblr post by @skystarsflowers , and this shameless self-promotion reblog from last year with the OG concept art.

I’ve seen some naysayers try to wave it away by saying that because there are three Crescent Moon Charms in the game (Marle’s gift, Tifa’s outfit, and the Whack a Box prize), “it’s not like it’s meant to be an earring or something, it’s probably just a normal in-world item and it’s just a coincidence that Tifa decided to wear it as an earring.” Weak, I know.

However, the side by side comparison of the inventory image vs. Tifa’s earring helped me notice something: they are absolutely earrings and they absolutely make a perfect pair.

If a dangling earring has an intended “front/back” (side facing out vs. side facing the head) and an intended “left/right” (side pointing towards the back of the head vs. side pointing towards the face), then the two earrings in the pair are similar, but have a different “handedness.” To illustrate, think about human hands... left hands are similar to right hands, but because the thumbs always need to face inward and the palms always need to face down, human hands can’t be identical. A pair of hands are mirror images--similar and opposite. 

Now, here’s an example of some real-life crescent moon earrings with an obvious handedness--the ornamented front needs to face out when you’re wearing it, and the moon’s face needs to point in the same direction when worn in both ears, be it looking back at your hair or forward towards your face. These two earrings are also mirror images--similar with an opposite handedness.

Now let’s look at that Crescent Moon Charm comparison pic again.

The Crescent Moon Charm has a handedness, as it has an ornamented front--the embossed lines and raised bumps--and the moon itself needs to face backwards when worn. The “charm” that Cloud receives opens to the left, and the earring that Tifa wears opens to the right.... They are mirror images of each other--two similar but opposite earrings--so together they make up a single, complete pair.

But wait, there’s more!

First: Another user from Reddit pointed out how in the dropped Tifa chapter (here’s a great Ultimania translation and rundown by @silver-wield ​​), Marle was supposed to create Tifa’s dress. Is it really so much of a stretch to suggest that we would have seen Marle give Tifa the earring to complete her outfit in this chapter? Maybe even in a “parallel” scene that hints it’s the mate to Cloud’s and Marle is giving the relationship her approval?

Second: There are multiple earring accessories in FFVIIR--Earrings, Platinum Earrings, and Revival Earrings. The name makes it obvious that they come in a pair, and the design makes it obvious that they’re *earrings* because of the hook (the Revival Earrings’ hook is the most similar to the Crescent Moon Charm’s... so to all you doubters, the Charm is definitely designed to be an earring). 

The Crescent Moon Charm is special from these other earrings in that a “Charm” is singular--this accessory comes as a lone item, really emphasizing that it’s not a pair of earrings like the others are. However, it’s especially significant that the devs chose to call this item a “Charm” and not an “Earring.” :

Yeah, this isn’t just a single earring that Marle gave Cloud and Tifa separately for the hell of it. This is a single earring which has become lucky and protective because Cloud has one and Tifa has the other, and these two halves of a single whole have “a fervent desire to be by [each other’s] side for eternity” which protects each other. 

Ahh these two melt my heart 💕

step into my office baby by foxbones - this is old but so underrated? basically an office romcom au but it’s so hilarious and heartfelt. will make you laugh out loud while also being really involved with the story and romance. 10/10 

a million tiny little things by foxbones - if you enjoy the first one and wnat more of that perfectly balanced romcom style, this is great! henry is particularly great in this if i remember correctly

to hear her voice in the silence by ChatDuNoir- i’m late to the party on this one but really enjoying it so far! i think the author is also currently posting the same story but from regina’s perspective atm which is great for when you finish a fic and want more

safe by SgtMac - i like angst and hurt/comfort and character studyish fics. this is all of that but also so soft and so in character? i love. deals with much heavier themes 

double trouble by PrincessCharming - a CLASSIC. fun times with emma and regina’s teenage selves turning up and falling in love, much to their older selves chagrin 

some rogue options:

happiness is something we create by hummingbirdswords - this is a bit rogue as a rec because it currently has 2 chapters haha. but this author just gets emma and regina so right and it baffles and stuns me, and i’m super excited for this fic 

storybrooke group chat by iknowpIlaces - this is a crack fic, kind of? but also somehow very enthralling and the funniest thing i’ve ever read? 

and obviously, it wouldn’t be a rec list without me doing some shameless self promotion lol. i’m savingophelia on ao3, and here are a few of what i think are my best fics:

rise and fall - soulmate au one shot, where you’re born able to sense how much danger your soulmate is in. 

shots? shots - another one shot, continuation of the season 4 drinking scene. (this is on this list bc i’m currently working on expanding it ;))

what hath night to do with sleep - this is a bit rogue but it’s a v character studyish ficlet about emma and regina’s relationship with sleep and how their relationship affects that

I was tagged by @optomisticgirl Thank you! I really enjoyed reading your answers to these. I love learning knew things about my mutuals. 

1. Why did you choose your url?

Well, it was already my url on Ao3, and luckily, it wasn’t taken yet. The reason behind it is actually something I was talking about in a discord chat the other day. I was obsessed as a kid with stories about finding secret passages, doors, and portals to other worlds. (The Narnia books, The Secret Garden, Alice in Wonderland, stuff like that.) My grandmother, we called her MoMo because it’s the South and we call our grandparents crazy things, lived in a really old house. It was fun to explore it, especially the wardrobes (because like most old houses, hers didn’t have closets). Another time, we (me, my sister, and my cousins) decided to dig a hole to Wonderland in MoMo’s yard with sand shovels. When she caught us, we thought we were in trouble, but she just went and got her garden shovel and said, “here, this will work better.” That’s one of my favorite memories of her. 

Anyways, so that’s where I got my url from. As it says on my Ao3 account, “If I keep searching wardrobes, maybe one day I’ll find Narnia.” It seemed fitting for writing fanfic about a fantasy tv show.

Ummm . . . hold on a sec, let me check . . . Since 2018. 

4. Do you have a queue tag?

No. I’ve noticed people have them, and I’m probably going to sound stupid asking this but: Why do you need one? Tumblr really needs a user manual or something. I feel like you just learn stuff by accident on here. 

5. Why did you start your blog in the first place?

@teamhook kept bugging me to on Ao3, haha. I also found out that a story I wrote was nominated for a fanfic award, but I didn’t know until after voting was over because I wasn’t on tumblr. And it felt like everyone knew everyone else in the CS fandom except for me, so finally I caved and started my blog. I was a little late to the party, but oh well. It’s been fun nevertheless!

6. Why did you choose your icon/pfp?

Shameless self promotion, lol. It’s the cover of my second self-published novel. It’s also really pretty (I didn’t design it, so I can say that!)

7. Why did you choose your header?

My husband bought me a journal that said “Dreamer, Writer, Storyteller,” and I loved that! So first, my header was a just a photo of the journal’s cover. Then I noticed you could make tumblr headers on Canva, so I made one. I look nothing like that girl running (I wish!), but the colors fit with my icon. She also reminds me of Chloe, the main character in my first novel, and Emma Swan, so . . . it works? Canva’s tumblr headers aren’t really sized right, however, so there’s annoying white space on either side if you’re in desktop mode. Canva needs to fix that! Otherwise, I love the way it looks. 

8. What’s your post with the most notes?

How the heck do you figure THAT out? I seriously looked through my stats, and I can not for the life of me see where it tells me this information. So yeah, I have no idea. 

9. How many mutuals do you have?

Uhh, again, how do I know this without scrolling through everything? I swear, people know how to do stuff on this site that I am clueless about still after four years. Remember what I said about needing a manual?

Hi there!!! I’m glad you asked, here are a few:

Logan will only be vulnerable or show emotion around Patton

They are quite subtle in how they give affection, like Patton will rest his head on Logan’s shoulder a lot as he reads or works

They love to listen to each other. When Patton gets emotional and needs to vent or Logan is spewing science facts, they always have the full attention of the other who is usually listening with heart eyes

Neither of them really know how to dance so they just sway side to side to slow music for hours

Patton gives Logan all these adorable pet names and he blushes every. Time.

The first time Logan gives Patton a pet name he melts on the spot

Patton loves to bake for Logan and Crofters is always a key ingredient

They always cuddle after either of them has a bad day (I hc Patton as the shortest side so he is the little spoon)

Logan.exe stops functioning every time he sees Patton in a cute outfit

They both love to learn and watch documentaries together

The song love like you by Rebecca Sugar makes me think of them (but it’s alright if people associate it with a different ship, I associate it with pretty much every Patton ship haha)

They work so well together in life and as parents and achieve a great balance

They are fiercely protective and will do anything for the other

Harper’s 2020 Fic Wrap-Up

my very good friend and incredibly talented felow writer @sagemoderocklee came up with the idea of doing an end of the year fic wrapup in an attempt to polish the turd known as 2020, and since i actually managed to get some writing done this year i figured, why not jump on the bandwagon? 

a lot of super duper fucking shitty things happened in 2020, but i will always be proud that in this incredibly chaotic, stressful, and challenging year i managed to produce almost 180k of content (and that’s not even counting the writing i started in 2020 but haven’t published yet). so, to celebrate what’s been a pretty big achievement for me, i wanted to go through the various projects i’ve spent the last twelve months working on and give a preview of my plans for 2021.

let’s jump in!

projects i worked on/completed in 2020:

first off, let’s start with the beast to end all beasts, my personal baby, and honestly probably the reason most people follow me -- star trek au:

something bigger than the sky (shiita; 44,163 words; completed): 

i’ve said this before, but the whole idea for star trek au was literally just a joke between me and my-then girlfriend, now-fiancee, and eternal shiita enabler alexa aka @durintrash (by the way, if you follow me for my fics and you DON’T follow alexa for her corresponding art WHAT, exactly, are you doing with your life????) where i sat in a space-themed diner and said ‘haha imagine itachi as a vulcan.’ but then i blinked and suddenly somehow i’d written the prologue and the first chapter of SBTTS in the span of a week. it’s like i was possessed by a fanfic demon.

it sounds super cheesy but i honestly can’t say enough how important this fic has been to me and how much it’s pushed me to be a more productive and more dedicated writer. previously i spent a lot of time Thinking about writing and occasionally i’d put a few words on the page and then i’d go... do... something... else. but star trek au was the first idea i loved enough that it actually pushed me to write and keep writing and not give up even when i was confronted with things like writer’s block and worry over the quality of my writing. so thank you, star trek au, for being the light in a very dark year for me. 

by the end of SBTTS, i felt like i accomplished everything i wanted to do with the story’s beginning installment: i introduced all the characters and set the groundwork for their development; i showed what life on the corvus was like and how starfleet, the federation, and the universe functioned; and, more than anything, i was able to sketch out both the main protagonists -- itachi and shisui -- with all their strengths and flaws, show their relationship to one another, and hint at how that relationship would progress. 

all the stars are closer (shiita; 75,195 words; completed)

considering how slow i used to be at writing, i thought it would be, like, twelve years before i managed to get to the second part in the series. BUT then covid happened and i half-lost, half-quit my job, and like a lot of people this year i ended up with a lot of free time on my hands. and so, like a fucking demon, i finished this part in two and a half months. 

when i originally planned this part out, i really thought it would be a lot shorter and a lot lighter atmosphere-wise than it turned out. instead, this second section of the story ended up being pretty meaty in terms of length and in subject.

that said, overall, i’m really happy with how ATSAC turned out. i loved the way the characters progressed, how the relationships deepened, and how we were able to see this universe grow bigger and more complicated. and i’m very satisifed with how it set the stage for part three, which takes us to...

lovers alone wear sunlight (shiita; 41,518 words; in progress)

there’s... a lot about this part that i just can’t talk about yet, a) because it isn’t finished and b) because it contains some of the biggest plot points in the entire series thus far. if you’ve been keeping up with the stardates thus far (which i encourage you to do!) you know what part three is leading up to: itachi leaving the corvus and the dissolution of shisui and itachi’s growing relationship. 

with that in mind, i’m... more than a little terrified about writing part three, which is why the third chapter has been languishing in my google drive for months now. (and also why i started not one, but TWO new fics to cope with my writer’s block. whoops.) chapter three is where all the parts come together and shit hits the fan, and i can only hope that everyone will be as excited to read it as i am to publish it. 

next up, the two other projects i began this year:

salvation comes only in our dreams (shiita; canon divergence; 16,835 words; in progress)

for a long time, i’ve wanted to write something that’s actually set in the naruto universe and works to correct a lot of the flaws that i see in the series. there are a lot of things that bother me about naruto, but i think one of the things that frustrates me the most is the really messy and in some ways offensive resolution to the uchiha coup plot thread, and i wanted to write a story that dealt with the complicated themes of the series--imperialism, oppression, genocide, child soldiers--but, like, didn’t suck and completely drop the ball. thus, the massacre au was born. 

my main goal was to tell a story that showed a lot of these characters in ways we’ve never seen them before, specifically itachi. i didn’t want to write itachi as just an idealist who suffers and Suffers AND SUFFERS for konoha yet still remains loyal to the village for some unfathomable reason like he is in the series. i wanted to write an itachi that was sharper, more jaded, and more suspicious of the world around him, but overall was still a good person with a kind heart. and for shisui, well... obviously there’s a lot going on there, too. 

this is easily the darkest story i’ve ever written, and as the plot thickens it will certainly get darker with relationship dynamics that are complicated and unhealthy At Best. i hope that as the story goes on it’s a ride people continue to enjoy, as i was super pleasantly surprised at how popular this fic became (compared to my usual stats, at least) 

oceans between us (shiita; alternate universe; 15,039 words; in progress)

it’s good to know that i continue to be the most ridiculously niche version of myself as yes, i wrote a fucking shiita atonement au. 

with each fic i write i try to have a very specific voice that suits the particular piece and distinguishes it from other stories that include the same characters. for example, star trek au chapters tend to be more fun and light-hearted (especially shisui POV chapters) and lean more into the action movie and sci-fi adventure feel of the star trek universe, while the massacre au is written in a way that’s much heavier and guided by itachi’s emotions and experiences. my main goal with this story was to give it the same romantic, operatic, almost hazy quality that the movie has, which reflects the period setting and also the nature of this grand tragic love story. 

i knew from the beginning that there were going to be a lot of things that i cut from the film in my retelling, like the lola subplot and obviously the setting of pre-wwii england. i also knew i wanted to explore some of the aspects of the film that were implied more than outright stated, like the themes of classism and upper-class privileges. and more than anything i wanted to structure this piece around this idea of tension building and building until it finally snaps and there’s just a world of mess and hurt and loss that affects these two characters in two very different ways. 

also, the sex scene. i haven’t written a sex scene for anything in, like, a decade, so that was a lot of pressure. but i’m happy with how it came out and i think it ended up being an aspect of the story that felt like both a natural progression and necessary to show the affection these two people have for one another.

originally i was just going to end the story with shisui going to jail, but when i told alexa this i genuinely thought she was going to kill me. so, that didn’t happen lmao. but the more i tried to imagine what a second chapter would look like, the more i realized she was right, and it would have been a terrible idea to end the fic there. as for whether or not the final chapter will keep That Ending... who can say?

goals i have for 2021:

finishing lovers alone wear sunlight and, if i’m very lucky, beginning the fourth and second to last part of star trek au (yes, as it currently stands this 160k+ word series is only halfway finished. sorry not sorry)

publishing the next chapter of salvation comes only in our dreams (i don’t know when it will drop. i don’t know anything about this fic. please do not @ me) 

completing oceans between us (the second and final chapter is currently sitting at about 4k words and will probably end up at about 15k in total)

completing and publishing a new fic i’ve started at the very end of 2020, which is the shiita jurassic world au nobody but me and alexa knew they wanted. it’s essentially a 90s romcom with dinosaurs and i cannot Wait to share it. (it’s at about 9k right now and will probably end up being around 20k to 23k in total... maybe...)

FINALLY starting my dream project: the shiita olympics au i’ve been planning for years, where itachi is a figure skater and shisui is a hockey player (i’d like to keep this under 150k but at this point trying to keep my stories at a managable word count is a losing battle)

Episode 8: Social distancing

Vibes here, super good. I love the transition from reality to texting guy from a nearby faculty. I think what surprised me most was when mystery guy said, "If you don't like him, why don't you turn him down? Or....deep down, deep down, you like him too?" And I thought that Pi would go "nonsense!" and deny. But he didn't. In fact he swallowed hard and said "you're right, why didn't I reject him?" This represents Pi's dilemma. He is finally, actually questioning himself whether he fell for Mork. AND mork with his shameless self promotion HAHA he's probably quite done with how dense Pi is, can't blame him🤭

1. A fic you are proud of

Song and Cinnamon, featuring @sunshinemage’s precious bean Nin. I love Lux, I love Nin, I love how this conversation between them came together and positive and hopeful it ended up. It’s honestly one of my favorite things I’ve ever written.

2. A fic you are excited about

The prompt I’m working on RIGHT NOW for @heraldofwho, haha, because it involves my long neglected favorite platonic ship and finishing it means I get to start yelling about a new oc :3

Also, Atlas! No link because there’s nothing there yet, but it’s my Inquisition era story and I’m very, very excited to write it someday.

3. A fic that was challenging to write

ALL OF THEM. Haha. Mostly, though, the one shots I’ve done where I steal my friends’ ocs, which I’ve collected here, with the exception of this one I just did recently. You guys put a lot of work into your kiddos and I have a lot of respect for that, so the last thing I EVER want to do is butcher them. That keeps the pressure on pretty hard for those fics.

4. A fic that was something you hadn’t tried before

Harlequin Letters, a fanfiction about someone in-universe writing fanfiction about Reyes Vidal. FANFIC-CEPTION.

Also Prologue, more ME:A fic written collaboratively with a very dear friend, which I’d never done before and was an absolutely incredible experience. Even I have trouble remembering which of us wrote what, everything just fell into place so well.

5. If you had to choose one fic above all to share, which would it be?

The Swim Upstream. Always. I get really angry at it every now and then because I’ve only managed to finish four chapters even though I’ve started eight, but I have this entire story planned and it’s...it’s good. I’m proud of it, I’m proud of Rex, I’m proud of how this story helps Rex and Emma grow as people and me grow as a writer. Someday, I might even update it again.

48. Fake Dating AU & 95. Sleep Intimacy

okay i have like at least two bed-sharing nurseydex fics (this ficlet and this longer one) (haha shameless self promotion) but i have no fake dating aus (i started one once but it was ugh) soooo let’s do this

it’s a few years after samwell. nursey and dex are living in an apartment together in nyc. dex is working at a tech company and bringing in the dough while nursey has published his first book and is working on a collection of short stories when, unexpectedly, nursey gets a wedding invitation in the mail.

dex is typing at his computer– emailing with ransom about their fantasy hockey league– when he hears nursey groan “fucking snake!” dex peers over at the invitation in nursey’s hands and frowns.

“what’s wrong with a wedding invitation?” living with nursey for going on five years– fuck has it been five years living with the man he is nonreciprocating in love with?? dex is hopeless– has helped dex learn a few of nursey’s weirder quirks (nursey 2 am showers, how he sings while he makes sandwiches, The Sock Thing) but the cursing at wedding invitations is completely foreign

“it’s my ex-boyfriend’s wedding,” nursey says, flicking the invitation across the floor. the glitter-confetti that was contained inside the envelope goes everywhere. dex can feel an aneurysm coming on.

“he’s probably just trying to be nice,” dex says, quickly resigning himself to living with glitter forever.

“things didn’t end well.” nursey sighs, collapsing across the table dramatically. dex only nearly saves his laptop from being crushed. “he was kind of a dick. fuck, i have to go.”

“why go if he’s a dick?”

“because,” nursey says, as if dex is dense, which after seven years dex knows is just how nursey talks and not because he’s actually a condescending dickface, “if i don’t go, he’ll win.”

dex doesn’t pretend to understand nursey’s social world. rich people are so weird. “then go,” he says, and continues his email to ransom with the very impressive argument on why he deserves to have chowder on his team.

“i can’t go!” nursey says. dex doesn’t look up from his screen. nursey’s ridiculousness makes great background noise. “if i go without a date he’ll still win!”

“then take a date,” dex says, frowning as he rereads the wording of a sentence. things are silent for a minute– red flag red flag– and when he looks up nursey is grinning widely at him.

(y’all know where this is going, right?)

“no,” dex says, in that moment, and ignores nursey’s pouting face. “why would you even want to bring me as your date?” dex says, the next day, when nursey argues why dex should do it. “how would bringing me even make you the winner?” dex responds, a week later, when nursey makes him breakfast in bed to sweeten the deal. “WHAT THE FUCK” dex says when nursey accosts him in the shower.

“dex come on. it’s a destination wedding, i’ll pay for everything, we can get drunk for free all weekend, and i need youuuuu.” nursey pouts, fluttering his eyelashes. “if i show up with a guy like you, todd will totally be the loser.”

“todd, really?”

“i was in high school, i had no taste.”

dex stares at him, shampoo slowly trailing down the side of his face. maybe it’s because nursey looks so pathetic, maybe it’s because his compliment makes dex as butterfly-y inside, maybe it’s because dex is hopelessly in love with him. whatever.

“if i say yes, can i finish my shower in peace?”

nursey grins. “i love you, poindorkster!”

nursey leaves the bathroom, whistling to himself. dex knows he’s going to regret this, but at least he can rinse his hair out now.

four months later, dex is regretting every choice he’s ever made that led him to this point, including going to samwell and deciding to play hockey in the second grade.

“nursey,” dex says, feeling the vein in his neck bulge. “why is there only one bed?”

(the wedding is in some snowy wood somewhere, with lots of trees and a series of personal cabins for all the guests. nursey and dex’s is fairly far away from where they had to park, which is going to suck because it’s supposed to snow tomorrow. the cabin is full of dark woods and soft blankets and warm, earthy smells, and dex is sure he’d enjoy it a lot if he didn’t have to share a bed with the unrequited love of his life.)

“todd totally would’ve found us out if we got a double,” nursey says, unconcerned. dex watches him unpack with a barely concealed rage.

dex only kind of debates taking the car and leaving before resigning himself to his death, and sighs as he begins to unpack too.

one wedding montage later, full of alcohol and making fun of todd’s cravat and eating as many of the hor d’oeuvres as they can and pretending (pretending dex reminds himself) to be more in love than even the happy couple. they leave early, stealing a bottle of champagne and a full plate of cake, and they stumble their way back to their cabin. by the time they get here, their toes and fingers and noses as cold and dusted with snow, so they get under the blankets to eat their feast

they eventually fall asleep, almost warm and bellies full, and dex thinks, before he passes out, that he could be happy with this for the rest of his life. just this.

in the morning, dex wakes up with his arms full of nursey. nursey is shirtless, all of his warm skin pressed against dex’s chest and forearm, mouth hot and wet where he breathes against dex’s neck. dex, for some reason, wrapped his arm around nursey’s back as they slept, and he can feel nursey’s arm (the one that isn’t clinging to the material of dex’s shirt) underneath him, like a hug.

dex loses his breath instantly, staring at nursey’s face, slack with sleep and so close to his own, and swallows hard. without thinking about it, his thumb begins to brush at nursey’s shoulder, his arm tugging nursey in just a bit closer.

god. this– dex has been in love with nursey for so long, he doesn’t– he’s taught himself how to control it, how not to be too in love, too obsessed. part of that was keeping himself from these kinds of situations. part of that was not giving himself the chance.

and now here he is, everything he wants in life right at his fingertips (literally) and all he can feel is a giant, consuming ache at the thought that none of it is real.

(it is real, the desperate voice in his head says, remember? we’re friends and that’s enough, stop wanting more, why can’t you ever be happy with what you have?)

in the middle of dex’s crisis, nursey wakes up. dex doesn’t notice. nursey watches the emotions– devastation and want and heartbreak– play across dex’s familiar features, the one nursey has been staring at from across their apartment, their shared room, the ice, so many years he’s lost count.

nursey never crossed the gap. out of fear maybe, or maybe he just didn’t think it was the right time. when was the right time to start the rest of your life? nursey was a kid. he didn’t know how to hold forever in his hands without breaking it.

now, well. now he’s 25, doing what he loves and making money at it, coming home to his adorable computer hobbit who cooks him dinner and listens to his midnight ramblings and lets him read his poetry out loud and has thoughts about it. dex, with his shining eyes and kind touch and beautiful, consuming laugh.

forever is a long time, but nursey wouldn’t mind living in this moment for the rest of his life.

“dex,” nursey says, and dex’s panicked eyes focus on him. nursey tilts his head up until their lips brush. he feels dex’s sharp inhale against his own mouth before closing the kiss completely.

outside, snow falls, todd complains to his new husband about “derek nurse and that boyfriend of his”, and time moves on.

inside, under the warm blankets, curled around the softness of a promise, nursey and dex pause, patient, on the edge of a lifetime, simply enjoying the moment.

liz!!! hey angel! i don’t really have any specific masterposts that i could link you to since i’m not really mutuals or following that many langblrs, but i do have some areas that i could refer you to so you can at least have some starting points! i’m currently taking french in school so we just use a textbook so i don’t think that would really be helpful for your auto-didactic self; however, when i decided to self-study spanish the beginning of this year, i spent a lot of time scrolling down the ‘language tips’ tag here on tumblr so i could have some idea to start and, under there, people also provide a whole lot of resources depending on your target language! you might even find a couple of them who are centered on studying french! you can also check out the language tag here on my blog as that’s usually where i put the things that i see on my dash related to languages whether it be tips, vocabulary, or resources! there’s also a lot of websites online, lots of apps (i actually read one article where it compiled all of the best language apps and put them into different categories and laid out their pros and cons!), lots of youtube channels from natives, and also here’s a shameless promotion: once you feel like you’ve learned an adequate amount that you want to actually hear people speak french, i’d recommend checking out skam france! it’s a series about high school kids in france and deals a lot with serious issues in youth culture! you can read all about it + all of the other remakes and the original right here! it’s been super helpful in my french studies and it’s also very entertaining! i hope this response was able to help you a little bit, my love! language learning will have its inevitable ups and downs, but i believe in you! feel free to stop by if you have anymore questions related to french or non-related to french! i hope you’ve had a lovely day today! x

Okay!! So Gray -

Born Grace Fullbuster

Always knew she wasn't a she

Preferred to wear boy clothes

Silver was ecstatic because Grace acted like the son he'd always wanted

Ur helped Grace with gender, telling him that it was okay to be a boy, and helped him change to Gray

It was close enough to his deadname so he remembered his parents, but also clearly a boy's name

When Gray started growing breasts at thirteen, he freaked out

He didn't come to the guild for weeks

Freed, being non binary, went over to his house and talked to him about it

Gray decided to get top surgery on Freed's advice because the breasts made him want to throw up

He also got genital reassignment surgery

He's very proud of his scars and flaunts them to this date

Natsu is a very supportive boyfriend and always remembers to pack Gray's testosterone gel on a mission

Fairy Tail was overall very accepting; the were a few traditionalists, but they came around

Gray and Gajeel become trans bffs and help each other with testosterone gels and the like

Never felt too comfortable in her body, though she didn't outright hate it

She was an early bloomer (9) and broke down when she got her period

Her parents were homophobic and forced her into being female, but at this point she hated her body

She willingly went as a slave to the tower of heaven so she could be a boy

There he changed his name to Jellal and bound his breasts

He also managed his period by using the pads that Erza would sneak him from her daily theft runs

When he lost his memory and was thrown in jail, Lahar was kind enough to offer him testosterone injections

Jellal, though hating being chained up, appreciated the gesture

When he got free, Gray and he had a long chat about being trans

The Crime Sorciere also helped a lot, Macbeth revealing that he was non binary helped Jellal come out to his team

Porylusica performed his top surgery as thanks to Mystogan

He was a late bloomer and thought his period was a terminal illness

Juvia helped him a lot with his transition and took him to a surgeon who botched his surgery when he was fifteen

It was a very traumatizing experience and for two years he didn't let Juvia even broach the subject of surgery

Gajeel finally got over his fear when he joined Fairy Tail and met Gray, who convinced him it would be okay

The two started dating a brief while later, Jellal and Natsu joining in on the relationship soon after

And now for some ot4 hcs!!

Natsu once obliviously joked about being the only 'normal guy'

Jellal and Gajeel were really hurt and the four nearly broke up

Gray ripped Natsu a new one and it got better after that

They always comfort Gajeel, the most insecure, by cuddling him to near-death

instincts by starfar - OKAY LISTEN. starfar was one of my very first people i put on notification on ao3 because imo they write some of the very best abo fics ever. they have i believe two wips out there that i’m anxiously awaiting their completion and they are just…so good. so this isn’t a wip, this one is completed, but you wouldn’t go amiss reading their wips either. they are still updating them, even if those updates are somewhat sporadic.

a body wishes to be held & held by turnyourankle​ - i just…YES. read it. this one was bookmarked and has a heart so i dunno if that means i thought it was hot or soft and lovely or just what i needed in that moment, but yes. lolllll

as deep as the sky by swallowsmateforlife - uhmmmmm this is SO GOOD because it also shows us the social norms in this particular version of a/b/o verse and shows us a gentle alpha and strong omega and yeah. it’s just so so good.

king and lionheart by @aliensingucci - i just adore this fic. it was one of the few i could find when i was still learning how to navigate ao3 and therefore is one i read before i even had my own ao3 so it’s older, but i just love the dynamics that are built in here. and like…yeah. i just really really like it hehe

i don’t wanna be your friend, i want to kiss your neck by crybaby - if i remember correctly, this fic was also one of the first i ever read that i thought i had lost but someone magical, probably emmu or tin, let’s be real, found it again for me and gahhhhh i LOVE fics where harry is the kinda ignored younger brother while gemma and louis are best friends and just omega harry and alpha louis and ;ashklfjdaslfk looooove

harry you little shit series by @juliusschmidt - this won’t ever be finished, is what i think alex said, but it is amazing and you should give it a read. i love how she really delves into the emotional ramifications of everything addressed here as well as the worldbuilding and their relationship and yeah. can’t go wrong with this either, though (as usual haha) she leaves you wanting more.

i just saw one of my bookmarks from forever ago was deleted here, so now i mourn. WAHHHHHHHHHH. okay, moving on.
