i live in a conservative small town and i am not conservative at all. so i stand out in a bad way and people don’t like me. for example, people were very worked up that i had a rainbow dyed into my hair (because, you know..GASP that might mean acknowledging that LGBTQ* persons exist!!). i only recently learned that this was one of the many reasons i am feared in town (that and my loud voice, feminist ideals, leadership position that is usually held by men, and eclectic style. i’m so scary and horrible, y’all). since i learned that people didn’t like my rainbow, it was only sensible that the next time i dyed my hair, i didn’t dye a rainbow into it - i dyed it the colors of the bi flag instead. intentionally? unintentionally? that’s for me to know and them to speculate about. and the saying goes, if people are gonna talk, then lets give them something to talk about.
