#hadestown polycule

Hades/Persephone/Orpheus/Eurydice could be such a fucked up polycule. Here's my argument:

○ Hades/Persephone: I'm sorry but this is unworkable. They're incompatible. They despise each other's interests. They're condescending and contemptuous toward each other. He kidnaps her for half the year. It's just not gonna work. They won't even like each other in an explosive fucked up way, they just hate each other.

○ Orpheus/Eurydice: They have marital problems, but it's very workable. She shows him who he's fighting for, and he shows her why it's still worth fighting. Sure, he needs to learn to do some chores rather than just playing music in his man cave, but I think he'll have learned his lesson after all that, don't you think?

○ Hades/Eurydice: imo this one is the gold mine. They'd be attached at the hip. They'd be so fucked up. Hades wants someone who can appreciate him, and Eurydice is clearly infatuated with both his power and him as a person. She probably has some childhood trauma she's working through but you know what that's okay because Hades is an authoritative figure desperate for someone who actually likes and appreciates him as a person. If Hades can get his head out of his ass long enough to see her making puppy dog eyes at him, he'll get infatuated right back. They're perfect for each other. Eurydice wouldn't complain about the foundry, she'd just be touched that he went and made one for her. Yes, he would be abusive and possessive and treat her like a pet he can bestow fine trinkets upon. But look--that's hot.

○ Orpheus/Persephone: this one's sweet, I think. They both like to sing and dance and have fun in nature. She needs hope that things can be better, he needs to not have to do any more work than picking a ripe apple off the tree. They both like to make people feel better. They'd have such a good time holding hands and skipping through fields of flowers.

○ Hades/Orpheus: They want to hatefuck so bad. It's similar to the Hades/Eurydice except they have the fixation without any positive attachment. Hades is pissed that that twink almost destroyed his beautiful town and Orpheus is more passionately pissed about the town than Persephone is. Also, Hades stole his girl and he's not letting that grudge go anytime soon. They're obsessed with each other. They want to kill each other. They want to fuck each other. It would be so much fun to watch them tear each other apart~

○ Persephone/Eurydice: They don't really interact much, but... there's not really any chemistry there. They feel like metamours that exchange polite nods and can hold a conversation over a drink, but they won't really be interested in each other. They're polite acquaintances, and they're perfectly fine with it that way.

The only workable configuration is a Hades/Eurydice/Orpheus triad and then some Persephone/Orpheus on the side.

In conclusion, Orpheus is extremely fuckable.

Vesuvia Weekly: LI and Apprentice Dynamics

Finally getting to join the party started by @vesuviaweekly!

(fair warning I love writing about this kind of stuff so there are a looot of words here lol)

Meleia & Asra

(sketch by the amazing @missrabbitart it's wonderful I love it so much)

Truly two halves of a greater whole.

Soft soft soft soft soft

They're both each other's first love, which is really cute.

(And both of them were super awkward about it at first because neither of them knew how to actually Talk to people)

Meleia loves Asra's wanderlust. Life is never boring with him.

Asra adores the way Meleia throws her all into whatever she cares about, be it as mundane as a sewing project or as huge as protecting the people she loves from the likes of Lucio or the Devil.

And on the subject of sewing... they're both crafty people!

Meleia makes her own clothes and Asra knits, so the two of them combined are a force to be reckoned with.

Meleia has a lot of self-confidence issues for a lot of reasons. Asra's always been there to help her through her rough spots.

Neither of them have a good sense of direction, so Faust and Forge (Meleia's familiar, a fennec fox) always end up doing most of the navigating when they travel.

They love reading together, making things together, exploring together, dancing together... they'd basically do anything and everything together.

(Except cleaning. Asra leaves stuff everywhere, and Meleia likes to keep the shop neat. It's about the only thing they have teasing arguments about.)

To Meleia, Asra is home. She can truly be her awkward and shy and geeky self around him, and she appreciates that more than she can ever say.

To Asra, Meleia is a beacon of light and joy. She cares so deeply about things and people, including the little kid who grew up alone on the docks.

Damian & Julian

In a nutshell, they are that one scene from Coco.

In all honesty, though, they tease each other but they are very much in love.

They're both intelligent and leaders in their fields of study.

Damian's an alchemist, Julian's a doctor... their styles have more in common than Julian ever thought at first.

They can and will be found having intense discussions about various practices in both medicine and alchemy using highly technical terms that no one else in the room understands.

They were a dream team when working to find a cure for the plague. Except for the arguments where Damian insisted that the plague itself must have been magical in nature and Julian was firmly convinced it was nothing more than a disease.

Damian's stubborn, and never afraid to show his anger or annoyance, but Julian always has a way of making things up to him. And they never stay upset or mad at each other for long.

Both of them are musically inclined, Julian with his vielle and Damian with his guitar. So whenever emotions are too strong for words, they connect through playing together.

Julian is all for the drama, while Damian's humor is more dry and witty.

Julian is the only person who can get Damian to dance on a table.

Chimalus, Nadia, and Portia

I've talked about Chimalus' dynamics with Nadia and Portia before, but I wanted to go into more detail about the polycule here :)

Dream Team 2 Electric Boogaloo

Chimalus and Portia are both always at the ready to help Nadia with whatever plan she has, be it city reservations, the next Masquerade, or just a picnic out in the garden.

Chimalus is the Heart of the trio, with their pure loyalty, good judgement, and a particularly kind heart.

Both Nadia and Portia admire Chimalus' quiet strength and clever mind. No matter how tough the problem, Chimalus finds a way to keep a relatively cool head and work their way through it.

Whenever Chimalus' lingering trauma pops up from their dark past, Nadia and Portia are always right there to help them through it.

Portia loves "dragging" Nadia and Chimalus off on adventures. Not that Chimalus or Nadia complain.

Book buddies!

The three of them basically have their own book club. They always meet up as soon as they're done reading the current book and chat about it over snacks (and usually tea and/or wine).

They all bond over animals, too! Between the palace horses, Chandra, Pepi, and Chimalus' familiar Skye the bluebird, they have quite a few critter friends to fawn over together.

14. What do they do in an uncomfortable situation? (Lochy)

oh he's like... a trained expert in ducking out of awkward moments. it's not Graceful but there's like a part of his mind that's always either a) keeping track of the closest exit or b) formulating a list of good excuses to remove himself from the room. they're not Good excuses actually he is very blunt and very obviously lying but it WORKS. he's not good at hiding in a crowd (so tall...) so he usually finds somewhere high up to sulk or wait it out until things calm down lmao

21. What do they do for the holidays? (Lochy)

oh just like... SUUUCH a stay at home and do nothing kind of guy, preferably pretends there Isn't a holiday if he can avoid it, but probably develops some nice little rituals over the years! a nice comfy outfit, a special meal he cooks or dessert he bakes... (and THAT'S why people love having an esteemed patissier's son around for the holidays, lol.) he also has the misfortune of being targeted by Babs' many, MANY parents (a big, frightening polycule) for all of their "you are Babs' closest friend so you're FAMILY get on in here and join us at the table we knitted you a SWEATER!!!!!!" festive mania. sooooo the rest is totally just spent relaxing and watching comfort movies with Babs to recharge all those drained social batteries lol

23. Do they like musicals? If so, what's their favorite? (Lochy)

(thank you) he's definitely not as enthusiastic as Some, but he really appreciates musicals as a venue for artistic self expression!! I think he's very much more into those like... poetic, spoken prose type stage productions though, almost Shakespearean stuff (but better) - he thinks music is a nice bonus if it's tasteful, buuuuuut will stretch his comfort zone in order to be able to karaoke with Babs and know all the lyrics to the HSM soundtrack lmao. a favourite? something like but not necessarily Hadestown. maybe The Lion King. that combines his interests.

what kind of music do you enjoy? also for some reason i remember some tf-related album being mentioned like months ago but i don't remember what it was called

I am almost certain you mean Starscream Polycule! If it was on my blog you saw it then you did, anyway. It's a very good album and well worth the $5, and on Bandcamp you can give it a listen first. It has lovely album art on the full download too.

As for kinds of music I enjoy, mmmmost of them? I know that's a cop out but it's kinda just true, haha. I listen to everything from upbeat pop music to weird avant garde stuff. My favourite artist is Vienna Teng probably and has been since I was a teen, but my taste goes all over the place. The last few things I listened to were SOPHIE's album "oil of every pearl's un-insides", the Hadestown cast recording (London version), Cold Specks' album "Neuroplasticity", and a random assortment of Orville Peck songs. other days I might listen to nothing but top 40 pop hits, or I might spend all day listening to drone music. it really does vary, haha.

First Date-

Theater nerd alarmy supremacy. Army got his hands on some tickets to Hadestown so he asked Aloha on a date to watch it with him. During it Aloha put his arm around Aloha's shoulder and they went out for dinner afterwards. Aloha gave Army a lil cheek kiss and. yeah :D

The Food that reminds me of them-

It's technically a drink, but I sometimes mix caramel sauce in hot coco and it's s o good. The hot coco represents Aloha; warm, fuzzy, a wonderful drink in many forms, and the caramel represents Army: not as well-appreciated as chocolate (aloha), semi-sweet, and orange!

for food it has to be curry. For obvious reasons.

These two love to sing!!!! Alarmy often sing romantic theater duets and are just really sweet while doing it. But they also just, really like to cuddle. Because. Yes.

First Date-

Goggles invited Hachi and Rider over to his house to binge-watch a show they like-possibly one of the Star Wars animated series (im thinking rebels in particular) cause Goggles likes cartoons and Rider likes Star Wars-mainly so they could introduce Hachi to some popular media. It lasted all day, with a lot of snacks and laughter, and it ended in a sleepover/cuddle pile. It eased into a proper polycule from those little binge-watch sleepovers that ended in cuddles.

Food that reminds me of them-

Onigiri! Onigiri traditionally has three parts; The rice, the nori(seaweed), and some sort of filling, traditionally a pickled plum but it can be all manner of things! Rider is the nori-he holds the whole thing together as without him, Goggles and Hachi would have exactly one braincell between them. Hachi is the rice-he's the glue, the mediator, almost. Whenever Rider starts getting tired of Goggles' shenanigans, Hachi helps calm him down and work out a solution between Rai and Gogs. And Goggles is the filling! You don't see him coming but it's a pleasant surprise when you do.

Their favorite thing to do together-

Cuddles and binge-watching stuff. I mean, that's what started their relationship!

🥰, 🏆 and 📒?

🥰 - Fav Story. Ooooh that's so hard. Tea with Topsy is my big one that has character development and growth and is such a slow burn you'll get frostbite, though Rings is very quickly catching up in a completely different direction.

But I think If I was going to pick just one it might have to be Run. I'm really proud of that one for consolidating a lot of random thoughts I had about what Damsel as a Profession entails and why Roxanne does it and I think its a really excellent self-contained story that has a clear direction and purpose and has a lot of gut punches but ends with that Brains/Brawn/Boss combo that is just *chef's kiss*

🏆- Fic you're most proud of. Definitely Tea with Topsy. Its still not done (and is in a really harsh point in the story) but it was my first long fic in a long time and approaches things in a way that I hope is entirely new to a lot of other fics I've seen, both in the worldbuilding sense and the idea of what drives Roxanne and how she finds herself falling for Megamind and how they handle literally everything that comes with being a damsel who falls for a supervillain and does something about it.

Plus Roxanne gets to make friends with some of the Doom Syndicate and I am very invested in Roxanne having more friends.

and 📒 - Any fics planned?

Oh gods SO MANY. 99% of which are for Megamind of course. Off the top of my head there is Blue Ruin (1920s Jazz Age AU). Paperwork Polycule (Roxanne and the three aliens all get married to stop Megamind, Metro Man and Minion getting deported. Cue slice of life domesticity and falling in love.) There's a follow-up to Presentation, a 5+1 times Roxanne got Megamind to be her fake date (and one time it wasn't fake at all) fic, Roxanne rescues kitties and Megamind can purr fic, a LOT of threesome fics in various combinations, a ballroom dancing fic that is going to get feral horny, a First Kiss fic that is all feelings, A Roxanne got dumped and accidentally wound up having a really good night out with an in disguise Megamind (and an even better rest of the night in one she finds out its him) another Queen's Gambit fic that is mostly about Beth playing speed chess, and a Hadestown/Doctor Who Thoschei mashup.

That's not all of them, there are a couple of established fics that are getting continued too.

I would really like to finish the first thing I started writing for the Megamind fandom which is Roxanne on the balcony of a party around Xmas time and gets a lift home on the hoverbike (that's it. That's the plot) and gets to borrow a cape because its snowing...someday....

Someone should make a Very Happy Huntresses au using the Hadestown musical but like,,, change it up.

May is Hermes/The narrator except instead of narrating she's actively helping Robyn, who is Orpheus, in getting into Hadestown to get to Fiona and Joanna. Joanna is Eurydice because I really like the theory that she's from a tribe outside of Mantle. Fiona is Persephone except she's not old and has only been married a couple years to whoever Hades is.

Idk how the whole au goes but basically May and Robyn zip down to Hadestown and snatch the other half of the polycule and tell Hades(Might be Ironwood bc he's been a dick lately) to fuck off.
