I'm sure it has been said a million times already (it's a sad tale, but we post it anyways) but heartbroken the new live London recording of Hadestown cuts so much, especially from act two.

#hadestown #the cast is so good too #i was so looking forward to hearing the audience reaction to doubt comes in #but alas #jumping straight to if its true to start act two is wild #like did they just forget to hit record for the first half of act two?#i love chant reprise #west end #theatre #broadway #also i know we just got six #but i wish broadway did more live recordings #something magical about it #i'm sure it is a union / contract issue but west end does seem to do quite a few more #not every show needs it for sure but still nice every once in awhile #especially when the audience is almost like a participant in the story #(i mean they always are but as directly as six and hadestown I mean)

Was listening to one of the best soundtracks of all time (Hadestown Original Cast Recording, not OBC idk how much the song changed for Broadway) and realized that Wait For Me is so insanely perfect for Jack after the events of Dance with the Swan?

He would obviously be the Orpheus in this situation (no clue who would be the Hermes, though). Just look at these lyrics

“She called your name before she left, but I guess you weren’t listening.”

Gee, why does that sound familiar? Oh, right!

That’s such a perfect parallel!

Do I think it’s funny that Jack’s name is literally in the song? Yes. Yes, I do.

I picture this as what Eternyx (or wherever they’re headed on that boat) becomes when Night Swan has the Just Dancers under her control, and navigating it would be insanely dangerous for anyone, but especially for Jack.

And of course, the chorus of the song. This is pretty self-explanatory, I think. I imagine Jack would have had a similar thought when he saw what happened to his friends.

So is there an actual reason why they didn't do a full show for the live recording for Hadestown Live From London album?

#i am very happy with the album overall #everyone sounds fantastic #and if we got a full version professionally recorded I think it woudl have ruined me completely #but I am mourning both of the Epics and Chant II and Doubt Comes In specifically #and more broadly all the other songs cut because #it's a sung through show! and a lot of the songs cut do impact the story!#i was just curious if they just wanted to do something a bit different or if it was a contractual thing or something else #I'm living in denial that they might release the whole version someday (especially if this proves popular and well-received)#hadestown #hadestown west end #hadestown live from london

Hadestown was beautiful and gorgeous and everything i had dreamed off and Tiago was on for Orpheus and my GOD if he wasn't the best Orpheus like.... big smiles, big gestures, naive which makes the breaking even worse to witness, and just overall adorable. After Hades and Persephone's dance he was like swinging his arms around and then when Eurydice says "you finished your song" he put his arms up and I DID!!! And he was so smiley and happy and aaaaaa

BUT there were a lot of understudies on and only 3 workers instead of 5 and I desperately want to know what happened to half this cast lol

#and that folks is why i love live theatre #they were still phenomenal with 3 #there were just parts where a voice seemed to be missing #but all love to everyone on that stage tonight #definitely one for the books #hadestown #hadestown uk #also... i dont collect audios anymore but if anyone has a recording of tonight's show👀#please i need to hear tiago!orpheus again #he was very dear to me
