There’s something to be said about listening to the full Hadestown album on repeat
Something about themes, something about motifs, something about knowing how how it ends and still begin to sing it again like it might turn out this time

Was thinking about Neve/Rook in a Hadestown au — who would be Orpheus and who Eurydice. And like, the most obvious reading is that Rook is Orpheus and Neve Eurydice. But imagine for a moment if it was reversed. How like in Hadestown, Neve would work so hard that she doesn’t realize she’s pushing Rook away until they’re gone. That she goes looking for them, finds them in Hades, outplays him with a song of her love for Rook. That song she’s been working on. That song she only gets right because her loss of Rook makes her confront how much she loved them in the first place. And for Neve to be plagued with doubt on the way back. That beautiful analytical mind repeating over and over “why me? Why do I get to win? Why would he let us leave?” Until all that hope and courage that Rook inspired in her melts away…
And she looks back

I need an official recording of the west end cast of Hadestown so bad.
I love Reeve Carey's Orpheus as much as the next guy, but there's something so raw about Dónal Finn's interpretation. I was lucky enough of seeing him onstage on May, and his power, his rage, his PASSION totally blew me away. I can't listen to If it's true again without it being his rendition.
Reeve's Orpheus is an artist, then a lover, but Dónal's Orpheus is firstly a man in love, then everything else. His heart laughs and sings and scream and aches. It aches so much. And you can see it.

I'm sure it has been said a million times already (it's a sad tale, but we post it anyways) but heartbroken the new live London recording of Hadestown cuts so much, especially from act two.

guyyys sorry for the hadestown west end spam posting, we went to see it on friday and I just got home from england (technically last night but only properly arrived home today) and I'm already feeling incredibly reminiscent. I wanna go back. I wanna see it again. Truly one of the best experiences I had in a long while

I know right? I just bought the West End recording of Hadestown and I kinda feee cheated since it’s missing ½ of the songs! The album literally says “Hadestown: Live from London” - which implies a full recording it doesn’t say “Highlights” or “Best Of” 😕
yeeeessss
when I first listened to the digital album, I was so confused that it's basically only half of the show and now the vinyl is even shorter
