They should do an immersive Orpheus and Eurydice stage play where the whole audience has to turn their back on the stage though the actors still have choreography and if a single person looks back to try to view the performance then Eurydice dies and everyone has to go home
#theatre#i am HERE for silly weird staging gimmick ideas#this show would get so much buzz at the edinburgh fringe

My Dad interviewed me, my Mum edited it, and you can read it at the link 📧
We did the interview over IM, so you get to experience my Dad's texting style (I'm so pleased Mum hardly edited him)
And there's a longer version you can read if you buy us a cuppa too
How well could you explain what your grown-up children do for a living? Ever struggle to explain that new thing you're excited about to your parents?
In Professional Relations, the monthly email from Foggy Outline, a wife, a husband, and a son, who are also business partners, interview each other about work and life.
Karen, Rick, and @merelymatt are the directors of Foggy Outline. We’re also family members. In each issue of Professional Relations, one of us interviews another, and the third edits the result. Next month, we swap roles and change topics.

I'm not sure they're ever in the same scene, so it takes a while to dawn, but the contrasts between Irving B. and Ms Cobel—
he's an artistic soul trapped in a world where the only art and literature is corporate propaganda, and even though he's a bit overly pushy about it, it still comes from a place of wanting to share the inspiration and awe he feels ("I think we should take Helly to the Perpetuity Wing today"), and even though he's kind of a stickler, he's not beyond a bit of creative interpretation of the scripture if it helps him and the people he cares about to wring a bit more happiness out of their existence—
and then she, she isn't severed, she isn't cut off from the rest of the art and expression the world has to offer (whatever that looks like in a world with Lumon in it), but she chooses the story of Lumon and the Eagans to the obsessive exclusion of all other possible truths ... and see what she does with it, makes snares of it to catch people out with, and hammers to beat them with, and yardsticks for them to fall short of.
Irving B. is only given one story to work with and causes it to change as he grows beyond it. Ms Cobel limits herself to a single story, rejecting all others, and it makes her rigid enough to shatter

obsessed with the Helena and Irving parallel and what it says about the aspects of our identity we think are fundamental (but aren't)...
Like Outie Irving assumes his Innie is just as radically anti-Lumon as he is. He assumes his hatred of Lumon is something ingrained in his personality! That's why he stays up at night drinking coffee and making paintings, because he hopes that when his innie dreams about the testing floor, he'll say "okay bet" and start exploring. That's what Outie Irving would do, after all. But he miscalculated! His hatred of Lumon isn't inherent--- his desire for meaning and art and spirituality is inherent. That's what his hatred for Lumon is built on. But in a world where there's no meaning outside of Lumon propaganda, of COURSE his innie would become ridiculously devoted to the company.
And Helena!! She is the corporation, that's her whole identity. She presumably assumed that Helly would be just as pro-Lumon as she is. But she miscalculated too! Her devotion to the company isn't inherent, her headstrong and entitled nature is what's inherent! And in a world where she's denied any agency whatsoever, that manifests as rebellion.
It's the same dynamic flipped on its head. They both sent their innies in there with opposite intentions--- one to take down the company, one feed the company's expansion--- only to realize that rebellion and devotion aren't inherent characteristics. Their innies have become the exact opposite of their outie selves, while still being exactly the same!! Because even though your personality is inherent, the values you hold are determined circumstantially. OUGH IT'S SO GOOD.
#severance#severance s2 spoilers#i've talked about the irving/cobelvig parallels on here#turns out irving: just an all round great foil for most of the other characters#good ensemble scriptwriting!!

A blooper is a mistake.
These are outtakes.
We knew exactly what we were doing.
Embarrassing ourselves backstage
Blooper reel or pooper reel? From all the material Matt cut from the recording emerges a very tonally different parallel story.
Coming next on 28 January – Her Many Masks, Act 3

Got some really great advice/interactions from this on bluesky, so figured I’d give it a shot here and cast a wider net:
People who work on podcasts and have ADHD, what are some things production teams have done for you that make the process more comfortable?
Not things that make you more productive, things that make you feel happier and less pressured working on a show.
I understand that it’s always best to ask an individual, but I’m working with some people who’ve never had the option to ask for accessibility arrangements before and thus don’t really know what they need/what helps.
I’ve only found one super successful arrangement thus far, everything else has kind of been a flop. Really appreciate any input, I just want to be a better showrunner.

The sun is down and I have switched from coffee to whisky
I'm giving up my Sunday to respond to the UK's consultation on AI and copyright 🤬
I've got Drawfee on in the background and a pot of good coffee on the go, but I'm still not happy about how much of a hassle and a faff this is.
