ok soooooo a whole essay about NOS4a2 and why he matters to me sm as a f/o ever

k so, starting off.

what makes him special design wise?

first of all, his whole design is sharp and edgy(literally.lotta edges). each end is pointy and sharp . lotta triangles used in his design. but despite that there's something interesting about how he has a cape (something usually made out of soft fabrics) as a cover, but even so the sharpness REMAINS. something else is how he has like two different eyes, which one of them is a monocle which is slay idk lol. also something else is how he's not like- he doesnt look strong physically at first sight even tho he's trully capable of being so . also fangs; LITERAL energy vampire, it's so cool as a concept.

ok personality wise:

most of the times he's on scene, it's always this very classic "muahahaha evil" kinda deal, he's silly af. geniunely enjoying it . he keeps on making stupid unfunny jokes all the time and he laughs at his own stupid jokes lol. idk i think it's cute and sillly waaaaaaaaaaaaa

BUT! he's capabe of being TRULY TERRIFYING (like half the robotic gore in BLOSC is caused by him lol, also his plan in ROTM was dark af)

it's even more interesting cuz his motivations are simply, yes being in charge as a SECOND need. the FIRST need is mainly to feed on robots. SENTIENT ROBOTS. LIKE HE D O E S WANT TO FEEL THE THRILL OF THE KILL. HE COULD JUST DRAIN from lifeless machines, but he'd rather HUNT and play with his food, if you will.

it's just very interesting.

now, SPECIFICALLY WHY do I like Nos and why is he so important to me?

so in general i was/still am a villain apologist ok? i always loved villains, no matter how evil they were. it sortz felt really comforting. but something about Nos specifically felt very special . possibly the fact that the first episode i watched in general was Revenge of the monsters (aka the climax of his character in everyway) .so basically my first impression was based on seeing him in his best if u know what i mean . like if it was any other episode things would've gone differently but that's not the case as you see. like ROTM is like this whole bigger climax yk? say, if it was another episode there's a high chance zurg could've been my fav character but boy he literally ran like a coward in ROTM so i just didnt care much cuz he wasnt in the ep as much as NOS.

like yea in an alternate reality it could've been Zurg but NUH UH . Nos it is.

also the fact that ROTM is like, as i said, sorta sums up his whole character in a great way . so when I watch that episode i IMMEDIATLY got attached especially when my introduction to the series is this. both his ultimate downfall and like .. the top of his character arc . like, INSTANT attachement.

another thing to note is how like … the whole episodes sorta focused on his turning every Z to an N .

ok here i might start explaining things a bit too personally here but ok it's an essay . ok so the circumstances of me watching the show for the first time were…something.

see i didn't have much friends back then as a kid. even the ones i had were pretty much SO different and can't understand me cuz im that shy, weird kid who goes on info dumping about my interests it might get annoying. but nobody understood those interests except ONE friend. whom just left and idk where he is till now. another thing to add, being the weird kid sorta let people exclude me and/or bully me soooo yeah .

so my putting that into prespective with the whole Ns all over the place thing in that specific episode sort of.. made me relate ya know? feel like it's specifically an episode for me . there was something nice and comforting about it.

the fact that it's the first letter of my name (which at the time was a big deal cuz all my favs didnt specifically put that fact into like, part of the story like Nos if u get me.) like, something about a villain i KNOW has the first same letter in their name as me, being all goofy yet menacing, also a vampire of sort -i am obsessed since day one idk) just felt right.

last part of this might sound silly or stupid but like . another reason WHY i felt this connection to Nos specifically till now :

people i know irl did NOT know what blosc was.

even the few who knew, don't remember it or specifically know who Nos was when i asked them.

so it's like "damn. all this epic character being so obscure and unknown despite everything they did?…sounds like me "

so until i went online and find more blosc mutuals (and till i went to Uni where people know it somewhat and still take show suggestions seriously from me) it just felt like this one character was specificaly made for me . like, this one character nobody knows except me . cuz i'm just as unknown and as unnoticed irl .

conclusion:

and to this day that still stands . Nos is still one of the turning points in my life in general. be it in art , in social life , or in general anyways. still my favourite fictional character of all time . my Top 1 fav and my main comfort character along Antasma and Zira for similar reasons.

i really didn't expect her to be like.. locked up. by herself. its so sad. i feel so bad for her in the lighthouse. also the I WANT YOU poster cracked me up.

vergilius calling her "my lady" was cute. i thought we were going to get more of their friendship this canto but apparently not. maybe later :( but also what's up with his eyes?? who's his old friend??? WHO did he take the eyes from?? it's not don quixote because he still has his eyes, so it's either the bloodfiend moses spoke with, or it's the progenitor?? or there's more first-gen blood fiends we don't know about.

i didn't notice while i was playing but sinclair starts blushing when he asks her to open up. they're so cute. and they're trying their hardest to be vulnerable to their fucked up lil family. i love them.

WE GOT OUTIS LORE!!! LET'S GO!!! this was surprisingly vulnerable of her... and dante's response of "I will. As long as they have the will to change, to move forward, I will be there for them." was great. also girl what do you mean TENS OF THOUSANDS??? i'm starting to think outis has a lot more guilt for the smoke war than she lets on.

uhh and speaking of change that's another theme that's popping up more interestingly enough. yi sang, sinclair, and being "unable to change" is what caused heathcliff to distort. interesting narrative theme. (starts side eyeing dante and outis). also change being one of the biggest themes of library of ruina, with roland and angela needing to break the cycle of the City to achieve their good ending.

bari is cool as shit

the cutscene that follows this where they're all talking about how much fun they had with donqui through the stageplay was genuinely both so cheesy and sweet i almost cried.

oughhh i'm not bothered to grab screenshots from every part i enjoyed of the final point so we're doing dot points again!

sancho's backstory of being born alone and wishing to die before don quixote gave her love and life was... holy shit. "That is why you saved my life from the periphery of death... tried to share your love... and made my heart beat again."

again with the themes of suicide. the original don quixote sees sancho as special because she doesn't want to inflict suffering on others and instead simply wishes to "burn myself to ashes like I was never here". and that's how she gets her first family. because she suffered alone. and then don quixote makes his children suffer alone in la manchaland.

"I don't know who I am" lyric in Hero hits really song. YEAH I FORGOT TO MENTION MILI PEAK!!! it really feels like some of their older music, especially something from mahoyaku (the Big Moon in the background during the final phase certainly helped). the second part sounds especially like Cast Me a Spell. or something from miracle milk with the way the instrumentals and sfx sound. i really like it.

DON QUIXOTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE WAAAAAAAAAAA WAAAAA

"She was incandescent, like a brilliant star twinkling in the night sky. / That very brilliance compelled me to reach out and hope." OUGHHH. dante's role in this chapter has been really interesting... they're like her, they're chained to their past but are also playing the role of someone who they don't know who they're meant to be. they have a really passive role in bringing sancho back to the Gang, with the other sinners stepping in to help her moreso than dante themselves, and then at the end, it's sancho who saves them, acts as their star, and gives them their dreams back (of having all the sinners together as one big happy family).

and just. holy shit. this entire sequence.

I DID NOT EXPECT A QUICKTIME EVENT!! big cast a spell vibes... i genuinely gasped when the fireworks went off..

LMAO SHE'S MAKING FUN OF HIM FOR THE ROCINANTE THING. also kyaa hong lu's teaching dante how to smile!!! i'm sure this won't have any terrifying implications next canto!!! definitely!! there's some interesting parallels to what donqui said about dante having an "expression" and what demian said about being able to hear them all the way back in canto iii, because donqui/demian listen to their "heart" and not their actual face/voice. interesting

also new dante sprite please???? please??? new dante pose perhaps even??? please????

interesting we're getting the clock ticking closer to doomsday after canto 7 and not 8. with the trajectory they're on, doomsday will happen during or after outis' canto (and before faust's). fun. can't wait for the random lore drop next intervallo/event where they take turns feeding don quixote their blood. please. please. please???

hii, i read your the twilight effect + your write-up afterwards. its definitely something i will be thinking about for a while. i love your twilight so much.. i do not normally read fan fiction or really much of anything at all, so im not too good at like complimenting writing and the sort.. i really loved the fluttershy chapter/trial and also found their interactions during the festival really adorable. and fluttershy + rarity on the bleachers with twilight at the beginning was also so cute. the entire epilogue was so wonderful to me, i loved seeing their relationships after the incident. theyre all so cute and best friends. i also loved the progression throughout their senior year. like idk, something about twilight having a rough hs experience but a great and friend filled senior year.. she deserves it soo much. and she had some tough moments but she overcame them.. love it. well i apologize for the rambling. i couldnt read something that wonderful and not say some words of appreciation.. essentially thank you so much for writing TTE and being willing to share it with everyone..!!!

thinking about ford trying to sleep but getting too in his own head about bill possessing him/nightmares/other irrational paranoias so he goes to stan and stan gets him to regress and in under an hour a very small very happy ford is asleep in his big brothers arms with warm milk in his tummy and a paci in his mouth. How do you feel about this

Rationalizing in the dead of night is something that becomes near impossible, even for a certain author. Ford knows logically Bill can't get in his thoughts, that's what the metal plate is for!

But that doesn't stop his mind from racing, formulating the most horrific and painfully realistic thoughts that have the man's eyes shoot open anytime he tries to fall asleep- Ford tries to work through it logically at first, walking around his room aimlessly as he tells himself how it's impossible for there to be several anomalies that could,,,,harm him or the town!

Ford probably doesn't even need to go to Stan's room because Stan is woken up by the clattering and frantic movements downstairs- Stan pinches the bridge of his nose as he's watching Ford hammering boards into the front door.

"Alright," Stan begins as he lifts Ford up by his underarms, "I'm deciding building hours are done, c'mon," Stan says, gently tutting/shushing Ford whenever he tries to explain why he has to board the doors up to keep the monsters out!

Thankfully, Ford is already tipping, so it doesn't take too much to get Sixer settled into a sleepy baby boy mindset (a couple minutes of having to physically hold Ford on his lap to keep him from scrambling back to "protecting them" but once he got a bottle in him, Ford was more than willing to go to bed)

And for Stan, it's nice, it's been decades since the two ever shared a bed- the last probably being when they were kids after the two watched a scary movie that had been on one night while their parents were out, all snuggled close in the bottom bunk, safe from the monsters- maybe some things never change💖

WANDA SLEEP TRAUMA HEADCANNONS

so the new fop is out tomorrow but NOT in the uk so I can’t watch it waaaaa :(

Anyway I decided to write about a headcannon I have for Wanda that I’ve been meaning to share for a while. Enjoy(?)

The headcannon:

- Wanda has a lot of unprocessed trauma from her childhood mainly due to the type of environment she was raised in considering her whole family is part of the mob and she most likely saw first hand what they did to fairies who wronged them. Not only did this scar her but her own mother didn’t want much to do with her, only Blonda, so with no where else to go really she had to stay at home. Her father would never hurt her but he would use his power to sorta intimidate her if she misbehaved hence why in “Trash Talkin’ (or whatever the episode is called) she didn’t even try to stand up to her father and seemed very afraid of confrontation.

- All these factors combined meant that she repressed memories from a lot of her childhood and she cannot remember anything horrible. Well. At least when she’s awake. When she sleeps her vivid dreams because twisted figures taunting her and bringing to light her past experiences, in this state she is basically being stalked by twisted shadow figures of her father, mother and anyone who caused any lasting effect on her. She feels as though she’s a kid again in her own bedroom, facing the horrors as a physical manifestation. She knows it’s not real but it feels so real and something inside her tells her that if she lets these figures get to her she might actually die or be harmed.

- This means that she has a habit of sitting up in her bed at night, talking to herslef, weeping, and shining a flashlight around her and cosmo’s room. Cosmo cannot see what she sees of course but she is fully convinced she CANNOT let these monsters near her and uses her flashlight to “deter” them. Think like FNAF 4 style.

- She won’t see anyone about these issues as we all know she’s too stubborn to get help sometimes. She tried sleeping pills and such but that only seemed to make the figures stronger. Cosmo doesn’t know the full extent of her sleep conditions but he just tries his best to keep her calm at night when he can and make sure she doesn’t accidentally hurt herself somehow.

So yeah that was my idea. Idk why but I think the idea that Wanda is super tough and such during the day but almost reverts back into the frightened and timid little girl she probably was growing up was a fun concept to play with. Someone needs to get her help though. Cosmo go call a therapist.

This is slightly based on my own dreams I have so I thought it would be fun to use them for good.

Boss keeps staring at Noeul, staring into his eyes as if he still can't believe that Noeul is here, in this hotel room, in his arms.  Boss had been so lonely in Korea the first weeks. They'd texted everyday, and every single morning Boss pleaded Noeul to come to him, to meet him, to be near him. Unfortunately, meeting Boss in Korea was just not possible. So Noeul had sent him on little adventures all the way from Bangkok. He made lists of places and restaurants Noeul himself had spent a lot of time at, gave Boss directions to the most popular tourist attractions and told him at what time to go so he could avoid the big crowds, and then they'd facetime a lot. All so Boss wouldn't feel alone. "I'm here," Noeul reassures him, hands coming up to palm Boss’ face. "I'm right here, take me."

So my latest project is an e-rated oneshot based on one very special s3 still. I'm currently in the editing process with the help of the lovely W @darktwistedgenderplural and we're getting to the finishing line!

And while the song in its entirety is very much not a wilmon-vibe (it's Placebo, so obviously it's kinda gloomy. but so so good. listen to it!), there are some lines that just lend themselves perfectly to a fic title (and some that are just surprisingly fitting lol):

Oh and funnily enough, an old fic of mine which had somewhat of a similar premise (there was a pool, not a lake though) started picking up traction again and come to think about it, this whole water/lake/pool thing seems to be just another one of my running themes, because I think I've written quite a few already haha. I hope you don't mind random story questions! But you said Yekaterina is one of your oldest OCs and that you didn't create her specifically for AiB but you can squeeze her into different fandoms. Can you talk about how you created her and how different she is now from the beginning?

you opened up the Pandora’s box. hello. how are you. this is it. this is the end of the world. I AM GONNA YAP.

Yekaterina started, originally, back when I was a high schooler who had just discovered AO3 and realized that no, I was not legally required to only ship canon (life-changing). At first, she was stuck in anime/manga universes because that’s what I was consuming at the time, and I was obsessed with the clash between Eastern European and East Asian cultures. Call it whatever you want, some kind of identity study, an excuse to project, a genuine attempt at cultural analysis, but I know I didn’t do it justice back then. I was fifteen and deeply unserious. But over time, I started actually researching, reading, learning, and yet I still don’t know if I’m getting it right.

No, I do not support what Russia is doing right now. I hate war. I wish I lived in a completely different dimension where none of this was happening, because it directly affects me, and I don’t have the luxury of ignoring it. That said, I am allowed to yap about history and culture, right?

Because while Yekaterina is Russian, she’s also a product of something much broader—Slavic culture—which, despite the regional variations, comes with certain inescapable trademarks. Slavs, across the board, are loud, emotionally explosive, deeply individualistic yet paradoxically communal, built to suffer and make jokes about it. There’s a kind of survivalist humor that runs through it all, a casual acknowledgment that life will always be hard, but at least we can complain loudly and drink about it. Meanwhile, Japanese culture moves in the opposite direction, rooted in waaaaa (harmony), where self-restraint and maintaining social balance are the highest virtues. A Japanese person will endure misery with a smile rather than cause a scene. A Slavic person will make sure everyone in the room knows just how miserable they are before inviting you to get wasted about it.

And yet. There are these eerie similarities. An obsession with tradition, an almost religious devotion to suffering as a necessary part of life, and the belief that alcohol is both a sacred social tool and a valid form of emotional processing. There’s this shared understanding that life is cruel, unfair, and full of suffering, but you grit your teeth and keep going anyway.

I live for throwing characters from these cultures together and watching the inevitable cultural whiplash.

So, enter Yekaterina: a Mary Sue abomination birthed by my fifteen-year-old brain and thrown straight into Tokyo Ghoul. Specifically, she was in a throuple with Eto and Arima (if you know, you know, Challengers wishes it had that dynamic lmao). And then, as I grew up, she shapeshifted. She lost her OP-ness, gained real flaws, picked up bits and pieces of new ideas, good and bad, evolving through every fandom I got obsessed with.

Then came 2020, the godforsaken year. Fuck you, COVID. This was when Alice in Borderland first hit, but I didn’t immediately shove her into that universe. That didn’t happen until early 2024, when I rewatched the show and got into the manga at the same time, which fried my brain. Also, around this time, I got into Dori Sakurada (listen, a man that pretty deserves appreciation), but tragically for me, I am a Distressed Ugly Men Enthusiast and found myself drawn to manga Niragi instead, because that man is a wreck and I love a wreck. AND NO, THIS DOESN’T MEAN I DON’T LIKE DORI SAKURADA, I RESPECT THAT MAN’S WORK, AND HE HOLDS HALF THE BLAME FOR MY SUFFERING.

Why did Yekaterina resurface so violently? Mikey Madison as Anora mid-autumn handed me the final piece of the puzzle—Yekaterina finally had a face. Before that, she was just a collection of vibes on my Pinterest board, flickering between actresses who were never quite right.

She’s different now. So different from where she started. She used to be a Mary Sue self-insert, but at some point, I flipped the switch because I wanted her to be real. Yekaterina is deeply, deeply flawed—cynical, sharp-tongued, emotionally walled-off. She’s quick, but not strong. She can lie with a straight face, but she can’t handle genuine affection. She learned early on that love is a transaction, which is why she both excelled at hostessing and absolutely sucks at healthy relationships. She’s adaptable but resists change, street-smart but emotionally stupid. A girl who grew up never quite fitting in, trying to carve out a space for herself in a country that never really accepted her. And now she’s stuck in a post-meteor-strike limbo, haunted by a world that technically never happened, side-eyeing Niragi across a hospital room because why is he also here.

The hostessing thing actually started when I watched Jujutsu Kaisen and had a Modern AU where Uncle Sukuna (yes, Uncle Sukuna, let me have this) was a part-time mercenary who dabbled in cannibalism in his mid-20s (he was 40 in that AU). I never actually wrote it because I am deeply unwell about fictional men, but the hostessing detail stuck, so Yekaterina inherited it. And, because I am a menace, I have continued making her suffer by throwing her at the worst men imaginable.

There was Kayn from League of Legends—because if I’m going to pick a LoL man, I’m obviously choosing the edgy shadow assassin with the possession problem. There was Jung Jae-jun from The Glory, a man so violently narcissistic that he makes other red flags look pastel pink. Sukuna, obviously, because I refuse to make her life easy. Bi-Han (Sub-Zero) from Mortal Kombat, and yeah, sure, Kitana exists, but Bi-Han has body horror sex, and that is an unfortunate fact we have to live with. And, of course, the crowning achievement of her suffering: Niragi Suguru. Because why should she ever know peace.

I love rambling about my OCs. Thank you for this ask!!!!! I have four other OCs waiting in the wings, and hopefully, at least one of them will have a little less derangement, a little less body horror, a little less dubcon, because I can feel myself speed-running into burnout haha

thinking of uploading a fun little treat to my patreons this week <33

as you know i had been working on a Rainbow Factory TTRPG one shot using the KOB system!!! and me and my wonderful friends finally got to play it together!!! Our lovely friend Al records all our sessions 1) so we can go back and watch to remember when we take long breaks and 2) for posterity <3 sooooo!!!!

I was thinking of uploading the videos (session 0 and the oneshot) to my Patreon a long with some of the work/art I did for the Campaign!! and the doc as well! :-]

Now the videos themselves will probably stay on Patreon only but I would be super down to share my KOB RF:TTRPG reskin with you all along with character stats and resources if anyone is interested!!!
