op you've absolutely converted me into a chullingsworth shipper. They're leagues ahead of everyone else. imo, speaking as someone who went thru something very similar to what miles did with his dad, Winston was the ONLY friend to handle things relatively well. supported him, let him vent abt his dad, while still not pushing him to do anything to escalate the situation. winston loml. They're peak idiot x responsible dynamic too. They went to ROME TOGETHER?? gay. I love my bisexual kings They're in Love
AUGHR ANON YOU'VE MADE MY DAY !!!!! chullingsworth is so underappreciated :( ur so right winston really was the only one to treat miles properly in the midst of his whole relationship w his dad, ESPECIALLY in NC1 . very frustrating how the show never really acknowledged it, it felt like the way he treated miles was credited towards tristan which was very odd. but yes theyre just so !!!!!! augshs dont you love it when you go on a platonic trip across europe w ur platonic bestie
#degrassi#chullingsworth#honestly such a wasted opportunity to not have them at least date a little bit#like idk miles wasnt given any other male love interests even though all the major straight dude characters#had like 50000 love interests#i mean ig thats just an issue w most of the gay degrassi characters#but even then characters like marco and imogen had more than one same sex love interests#idk its just so clear that winston had the most tender and special relationship to miles#and he really deserved someone who didnt push him to do things he wasnt comfortable with#or snip at him for messing up in the slightest#we need more winston love in general he is so sploioko

Only loosely aware of Honkai Impact, but saw some posts that sounded interesting. Who is Elysia and why is she apparently bad?
oh boi, what have you just triggered
be wary of spoilers!
General Information: Elysia is a side character from Honkai's mode Elysian Realm, which presents a simulated environment with sims of 13 warriors called Flamechasers from the time 50000 years before the main story, known as the Previous Era. she's ranked the 2nd Flamechaser - she was meant to be the 1st, but she gave up that title to someone else. as story progresses she's revealed to be the Herrscher of Origin (or Humanity or Ego, I don't know which title is used the most), basically the first Herrscher to exist and who sacrificed herself to make sure other people who turn into Herrschers remain their free will and are able to fight for humanity instead of Honkai.
(if I got anything wrong or you don't understand something, please refer to @phoenix-is-the-hottest-thing - they're our Elysian Realm lore master)
now for reasons why people consider her bad:
Bad Writing: Elysia is a shallowly written Mary Sue. Honkai has had two if not more cases of releasing Mary Sue-ish characters and while the first one ended up fine enough with all her stuff explained and executed well, Elysia ended up being a victim of Mihoyo's degrading writing quality as she was getting more and more shallow. all the characters end up being written into loving and complimenting her unconditionally and for no reason, even those who were initially sceptical and/or openly unfriendly to her.
Behaviour: she's written as someone who doesn't understand the concept of personal space, or maybe rather as someone who thinks everyone is about as friendly as her and don't mind her getting as close as she wants. she's overly friendly, touchy and even egoistic, because usually when she happens to give some compliment back it's just "you're as pretty as me". Some of dialogues with her might trigger someone with unwanted touch or never-taken-seriously trauma, at least in my case.
Fanservice: female Flamechasers were unfortunately written and designed with mostly fanservice in mind, and Elysia is no different. the design itself isn't bad, it's about as much revealing as your average female gacha game character. her personality though is clearly created for people who just want touchy anime waifu or watch some yuri given how much she keeps touching Mei (even though Mei is really not pleased with it). devs don't even try to hide it.
Cash Cow: Mihoyo did notice Elysia sells well and they're not discreet about shoving her everywhere just to get that extra money. Honkai has a trio of protagonists who are often portrayed together, but few times they even replaced one with Elysia just so she gathers some more attention than Bronya would. the shoving gets as far as making Raiden Mei's new battlesuit based fully on Elysia, almost erasing everything that's unique about her.
Retconning: there are a lot of retcons happening in new chapters, and Elysia is a subject of one (if not more) of them. the retcon refers to her sacrifice for Herrschers' free will - you see, people are known for gaining an evil alter ego when becoming Herrschers and/or lose control of themselves succumbing to Honkai's control and desire for destruction. Elysia and information about her sacrifice popped out like some sort of Deux ex machina, and her sacrifice contradicts what is shown in earlier chapters because according to its description Current Era Herrschers shouldn't have alter egos or be controlled by Honkai after it.

Summary: Once upon a time, there was a green-eyed prince, locked away in a tower of monsters for the sin of refusing his angelic betrothed. Once upon a time, there was a blue-eyed wizard who had erred, and in doing so had lost, and lost, and lost, until he had little left to lose. Once upon a time, there was a Princess of Mondoor, cursed to live as a red dragon. Or perhaps she was a red dragon who had been born in the shape of a Princess of Mondoor. Hard to say. Anyway, she was definitely a dragon now. These were all separate stories. Until they weren’t.
Excerpt: “So you can’t just be… rescued?” Garth repeated. “Whaaaaaat? You’ve got to, like, fall in love with someone and they’ve got to fall in love with you?” “Yep,” Dean answered, popping the ‘p’. “It’s crazy smart magic,” Charlie admitted. “Making it conditional like that, having the tower’s magic tied to all of it magic’s all about potential, right? And the curse draws from the potential of that rather than from the caster. And with every year that passes, that potential just gets stronger and stronger. Even with angel magic being all weird and broken now.” Dean glared at her. Which, sure, wasn’t exactly going to do much—considering that she was forty feet long, it was possible that if he stabbed her it might not do much other than pinch her a little—but it was the principle of the thing. “I didn’t say it wasn’t an asshole thing to do!” she insisted, a little sheepishly. “Just that it, was, y’know. Smart.” Dean kept glaring. Now Garth was glaring too, in solidarity, though it wasn’t even that much of a glare, compared to Dean’s. “Yeah, yeah,” Charlie muttered, and tucked her nose into the broad arc of one red foreleg. Humans. Just couldn’t appreciate a really well-crafted spell if it bit them in the… well, anyway. “But how’re you supposed to do that, y’know, meet someone nice, fall in love with them, if folk only come thinking they’re going to be fighting their way up, or, y’know, rescuing you for that nice prize that’s being offered, or… oh. Ohhh. That’s why it’s a curse,” Garth muttered. Dean didn’t bother to say “Yep” again. Garth looked at him with his jaw squared (as much as he was able) and a serious expression (again, as much as he was able). “But you seem like a good guy,” he said, making Dean blink. “Really good-looking, too. And a prince, at that!” he explained, waving a hand to indicate up and down Dean’s long, lean body. “I bet you even have all your teeth!” “Uhh…” Dean started, bewildered. “Teeth are important,” Garth added, apropos of nothing at all. “Teeth are weird,” Charlie agreed cheerfully. “Dragons shed them all the time. They just grow back in. Really freaked me out the first time I spat out a mouthful!” “Really?” Garth asked, interested, leaning in as if Charlie’s maw weren’t big enough to swallow his head in one gulp. “Can I—” “Guys. Focus.” “Right, right.” Garth leaned back with a rattle of his armor. “Well, I’m real sorry I can’t fall in love with you. Just, I’m already taken.” He puffed his chest out proudly, visible even through his breastplate. Dean thought his own tongue was so far in his cheek he might never be able to get it out as he mumbled, “Uh, yeah, well. Thanks anyway.”

I LOVE Gilmore Girls but it's weird that in a show so centred around class, it mainly only criticises the wealthy for being snooty and socially conservative. It has little to say on the wealth divide's uglier side. Its presentede that Lane, Dean & Jess couldn't go to Chilton or Yale because they weren't that academic anyway. Meanwhile it was only really Lorelai who had money problems (not Luke, Suki etc) and that was OK because she had a safety net that she was too proud/independent to use.
Hi Anon - I’m *so* sorry it’s taken me weeks to get around to your ask. But I loved your comment so much I wanted to take the time to offer a thoughtful response, especially because it’s a theme I’ve been chewing over in my head for the past few months, since I watched the latest season of AHP’s other show, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
I agree that Gilmore Girls has sort of become known over the years, in culture critic circles and online fan discourse, for its unflinching portrayal of how money shapes relationships across generations. And I also agree that for how much of the show revolves around money and wealth, the show never considers the other side of the middle-class divide - it just head-fakes there very occasionally, and usually pretty awkwardly. AHP is fundamentally uninterested in writing characters who truly struggle to make ends meet, as a basic condition of their daily lives. While that’s totally fine and fair, it stands out more on a show like Gilmore Girls, where money problems are a frequent plot device, a character having to deal with the true financial consequences of not having money never actually comes to pass. She uses the struggle to succeed as mark of valor in her characters, but even if that struggle has major financial risks (like Lorelai opening the Dragonfly Inn), the show never goes there. AHP is just not interested in exploring the material consequences of losing wealth or what it means to not have any money. Rather, a lot of the plot of Gilmore Girls is about how various characters on the scale from comfortably-middle-class to old-world-wealthy interpret money, wealth, and the idea of class status to define themselves in relation to others around them, and to influence the outcomes of interpersonal relationships. While the central conceit of the show is Lorelai turning to her parents for Rory’s private school tuition, she and her daughter live a mostly financially secure middle-class life in a prosperous town. In Gilmore Girls, AHP consistently mines the concept of wealth for conflict, but it’s always for interpersonal reasons, always to show something deeper going on within the relationships of the show, it’s never to actually consider what it means to not have that wealth in the first place. Unlike Jane Austen, none of AHP’s heroines ever run the risk of truly becoming impoverished.
As a result, you get moments on the show like Lorelai borrowing $30000 from Luke (which is the equivalent of $50000 in 2022) and then it’s never mentioned again, and Rory sputtering “but I’m a Gilmore!” to Logan when his family ends up hating her. No one in Stars Hollow is actually poor in a real sense, even those characters we might think of as having more traditional “working class” jobs. Even when Lane and her bandmates rent that one-bedroom house (a whole house!), you never get the sense they are *actually* struggling to feed themselves and pay utilities. Instead, that whole experience is framed in a primarily humorous way, with Lane having to find a way to live with two gross twenty-year old boys who eat all the food and play video games instead of being responsible roomates. Luke, who lives over his diner, has enough money stowed away to not only lend Lorelai half a million dollars but also buy a huge house without telling her. Jess is one of the few characters to be framed explicitly without a penny to his name, and yet we never actually see him dealing with the reality of that except very briefly in S4 (and that backdoor pilot in S3, I guess). Besides, the next time we see him in S6, he’s clearly on his way up, with a published book and a job at an independent press. This is another example of AHP equating the struggle to become financially secure as a sign of good character. Which, of course, it’s totally fine to want to get out of shitty economic circumstances! It’s just that on GG, no one ever stays in those circumstances for very long and/or the implications of those circumstances are never really explored. Where the implications of money *are* fully explored, it’s primarily with characters who have a lot of it, like Richard, Emily, Christopher, and Logan in their relationships with Lorelai and Rory.
I was thinking about this topic while watching S4 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel a few months back, specifically the plot when Midge takes a job opening for Sophie Lennon because she’s so worried about money. The speech Sophie gives Midge about her finances, which is set in Midge’s apartment that she’s somehow bought back from Moishe in a way that was never satisfactorily explained, is very similar, almost identical, to the speech that Trix gives Lorelai in S4 about the Dragonfly Inn in “The Incredible Sinking Lorelais”, about how she’s very obviously bleeding through her original budget. Midge takes the gig, it blows up in her face just like Susie said it would, and then…well, she loses Sophie gig but we get no indication after that that her finances continue to be a source of angst. So I think of a lot of the way these themes of money and class are represented on Gilmore Girls are due to AHP’s particular quirks and interests as a writer. She likes to explore the interpersonal implications of wealth, but never the flip side of losing that wealth, nor are her depictions of the working-class and the middle-class especially realistic. Oh well! It is what it is. I wouldn’t describe AHP as a writer whose work is deeply grounded in reality. There’s a lot of fantasy in her world-building, which to be fair she has taken heat for.
I suspect the reason the topic of money and class is a bit more sensitive within the GG fandom is because Rory has gotten so much hate over the years as the epitome of clueless white female privilege or whatever, and also because of the endless shipping wars between Jess and Logan fans. All of that discourse feels pretty exhausting to me—trying to reduce a character’s virtues down to how much money they have is pretty dumb (unless that person is a billionaire, in which case yes they are morally bankrupt). The point of Rory’s character is that she exists in the liminal space between her mother and her grandparents: she grew up with her mother in a middle class home but doesn’t reject the wealth and class status that is theoretically hers by virtue of her birth (and no, spending her early years in a shed doesn’t negate her financial privilege—sorry AHP, but the idea of Lorelai raising baby Rory in a shed on the grounds of a luxurious B&B where she worked as a maid is absolutely a rich person’s idea of what it means to be poor). Most of Rory’s blindspots I chalk up to AHP's lack of interest in figuring out how certain things work, like journalism and elite private universities.
I was going to go into a whole analysis of how class is specifically explored on the show (as opposed to money) through Rory's relationship's with Dean and Logan, but this is already a long enough essay so that will have wait for another time! Thanks so much for writing in, Anon, and for sending such a substantial ask!!

Saiko meeting a student at school that when he tries to use them as his slave by lording his money over them they go "Treat me like that one more time and I will beat you up so hard they won't recognize your face." And then he promptly falls in love with them.
------
Lording His Money Has... Consequences

Word Count: 0.2k
Warnings: Minor mentions of violence
Characters: Saiko Metori
------
You’re a peasant. That’s all there is to see. No worth in your pathetic little frame – after all, you aren’t Teruhashi Kokomi, the darling he came to this peasant school to woo.
Saiko is a gentleman; one of the nicest, kindest people you could ever meet. He offers you a way out of your penniless, dull life: “Carry these flowers to Teruhashi and I will give you 50000-yen”. That amount of money is so insignificant to him: if it rained 50000-yen Saiko would put up an umbrella in response. Or well, his horde of maids and butlers would do so for him.
For you, it should’ve been a lot. You should’ve bowed your head meekly in response, promising to get the job done instantly. Instead, you retaliated like some sort of brute, threatening bodily harm if he “lords his money over you”. Like that’s a thing.
Saiko had let you off for that disrespect because he was merciful! Not because he was stunned out of his mind, jaw almost dropping from sheer shock.
You did not interest him. It was just… your behavior was new to him, and he wanted to see how you’re your behavior could go! He’s not interested, nor has he taken a liking to you!
No, Saiko didn’t have one of his servants record you threatening to beat him up again, why would he ever do that?
If it makes you feel any better, you have a totally not interested rich kid following you around now.

I rate different versions of two POTC characters
Recently I found out that Pirates of the Caribbean has a manga series of its own. And some comic books. And a LEGO game, though that wasn’t as big a surprise and was honestly more pleasant than not.
ANYWAY here I will rate the different Cutler Becketts because it was quite a ride for me.
I will also rate the different Norringtons if I end up feeling like it while writing the post. (Note: I did end up doing this.)
Movie Beckett
The original. 2/10.
Might be a good character story-wise but overall very hateable. Smug asshole. Everyone loves to hate him. (Which means the actor did a great job.)
If he existed IRL I'd want to be 50000 miles away from him. Apparently his past is really messed up but you don't find out about any of that through the movies. Might have been a better person if he had a better childhood, but then again the same goes for a lot of villains.
On the list of characters I consider interesting, he is right down there in the burning trash dump with Cave Johnson. Maybe even lower. At least he accepted defeat when the time came and went out with some dignity.
Manga Beckett
AbSoLuTe fUcKiNg CyCLe pATh. 0.5/10.
Might as well be the reason I started this post.
Why is he like that. Why does he have eyeliner. Why is he so... anime villain-y.
He's supposed to be someone who keeps his face straight. Why does he seem to be constantly expressing with every single facial muscle that he is batshit insane.
Movie Beckett at least drinks tea like a normal person. This guy looks like he'd shove the entire teacup into his mouth and just munch it whole while staring directly into your eyes. Also his version of Mercer lacks eyebrows for some reason.
He gets half a point because there are some characters who were, unfortunately, butchered even more than him.
Lego Beckett
Gremlin. 5/10.
He's kinda goofy compared to the other three and also absolutely tiny. He literally strains just to see the camera half the time. You cannot help but laugh at this man. He is also considerably less harmful, given the... nature of the Lego world... and that the worst he can do is order that a bunch of fruit (plus the occasional livestock) be thrown at people.
The only regret - quoting @nebbychan - is that they didn't make his wig taller to compensate for height.
That one comic book Beckett
The not-Beckett. -10/10. Note the minus sign.
That's just not him. There's no way you can convince me that's him.
It feels a bit like the artist went out of their way to emphasize the characters' appearances but this here is not how caricature works. Maybe they were looking at a different person.
That's not him. That's Pirate Extra #23 in a wig.
That being said, Norrington looks pretty horrible in here too - more on that later.
Alright, now for Norrington.
Movie Norrington
The original. 10/10.
An honorable man. People love to love him. Did not deserve what he got.
Not much to say.
Manga Norrington
Evil Twin Nottington (quoting @dirgeofcerberus111). 3/10.
Why does he look like a one-off side villain from the Hobbit movies. He deadass has that evil grin stuck on his face throughout most of the book. And that up top is NOT what he said in the movie.
Instead of anger stemming from the sense of being wronged and losing everything, this man right here is fueled by bloodlust. Dude looks like he'd murder Will Turner in cold blood without the slightest quiver in that manic grin. Set this guy up on the Dutchman and he could throw Davy Jones overboard.
Losing his ship didn’t just make him a wasted drunk; it turned him into an entirely different man on a molecular level.
What is this man.
Lego Norrington
Carrot man. 6/10.
Sorry my dude, it might not be your fault that you were mistakenly delivered a carrot on your promotion day, but I am going to remember you as 'carrot man' because of that nevertheless.
For some reason, he lacks hair save for when he is not wearing a hat. Unlike Beckett’s, his wig is a magic wig that disappears when placed under a hat.
He looks unnecessarily mean-spirited in Dead Man’s Chest. When he gives Davy Jone's heart (which, by the way, wears a miniature hat. Yes, the heart wears a hat) to Beckett, he's not a wrecked man trying to regain some honor and a smidge of his past life. He's like 'Oh yeah give me that admiral sword, hand it right over.'
But he also slaps Davy Jones with a fish and kind of almost survives if it can be called that, so he gets some points.
That one comic book Norrington
Tames Jorringnon. 0/10.
Barely recognizable. Makes me wonder if they kept the wig because otherwise it would be nearly impossible for readers to understand that this is indeed James Norrington, the wig man.
They did somehow remember to take his prominent nose into consideration, but said fuck it to everything else.
Who is this.
No.
-
I tag those who suffered with me: @dirgeofcerberus111, @casual-dark @directorhachi and @nebbychan.

Sad thing about Robert is that you can see why he is the way he is, sure his a prick like but can see why he become so bitter, sure he was the villian but i actually sided with him because i found the whole village hypocrites esp chas, paddy, cain, katie and andy, the whites even if they victims of his they no saints themselves plus fact jack blantally favoured andy over robert? why because he had different interests and annoys me people say it because robert was a nasty peice of work, no jack favoured andy long before that even before sarah death and that what pushed robert over the edge imo losing one parent who did love/want him and then being stuck with the brother who killed his mum and a dad who favoured said son over him, I think that would deeply hurt anyone, i think robert behaviour is kind of a cycle of how andy/jack hurt him but they massive hypocrites looking down on robert makes me hate them.
yes you've sent me about 50000 messages saying the same thing.

Had this thought, re: your "rant"-- I agree 50000%.
Even when H is trying to remove W's guts and brains he's always tenderly holding the back of his head LOL. Like, there's no way you can have H backhanding and bullying W into submission in your "canon compliant" fic.
And honestly, this holds even (or especially??) when we're talking fics featuring kink/ power play. Kink fics where Will begs or grovels or whatever can be so fun and interesting-- I love when activities like that are viewed through the lens of "Will finally accepts he wants what he wants and isn't afraid to ask for it" or "Hannibal wants to blow Will's mind and give him a totally unquie experience". "uwu Hannibal is mean to baby Will" is sooooo lazy and out of character.
On top of that, the idea that H would never let W top is totally delusional. W literally tried to k*ll H multiple times and H still hit us with the "This is all I ever wanted :)" lmaoooo.
Lol okay my rant over. Thanks for bringing that up. It's a pet peeve that I didn't know how to articulate until you verbalized it.
hi, happy to help! thank u for the input. i agree with you on everything you said. really what makes these sort of fics so infuriating is the "uwu hannibal is mean to baby will" tone. the infantilization of will in which he does not know what he wants and never will paired with a hannibal who seems to only get off by hurting him. both of these types of characterizations are just so off from what the show presents to us. hannibal is shown time and again to care deeply about will, and will is shown to be very capable of following his desires. but most of the time in these fics there's no nuance and that's what bothers me. i'd be totally willing to read fic a kinky fic with will as the sub if it was accurately characterized, but most of the time they're not and it's too much effort to look through the shit pile to find something worthwhile.

NaNoWriMo: Word goal complete!
50426 / 50000 total words (Scroll down for the excerpt!)
That's 43,181 words of the Fantasy Farm Life Liushen fic, divided across 9 chapters. (Meaning an average of 4,798 words per chapter.)
I'm going to keep writing, of course. But I had to basically force myself the last few days. Only my desire to get that "updated every day of NaNoWriMo" badge on the NaNo website is going to get me to continue to write daily -- but I'm still hoping to finish the story arc by the end of the month.
I'm still shocked that I'm over 40k deep into the fic and only this far in my outline. I guess it's going to be one of those situations where I'll write what's in my outline and not the stuff that I just sort of handwaved over like, "idk, farming stuff here" between the plot stuff I actually did write down more detailed notes for. If readers are like, "Yo, I love all of this daily life on a fantasy farm stuff!" I can always sneak an extra chapter or scene in every so often to break up the plot.
I probably will only post occasional updates on my progress for now, just because I think it'd be more interesting to see it finished than hear me rambling about writing it!
Here is the last scene I've worked on. Keeping in mind I've trimmed some of the plot stuff since it'd be confusing not knowing what it's referring to and it's also unpolished.
Excerpt:
When they reached the homestead again, Liu Qingge left the bucket of fish outside while he went in to get the little stove that looked as if it hadn’t been touched in over a decade, if not longer.
“I’ll cook,” he said, bringing it out so that the cooking smells wouldn’t get trapped inside.
“It’s fine,” Shen Yuan said, moving over to take over setting up the stove. Liu Qingge was relieved he at least seemed to have the general idea of how to use it. “I’ve cooked before…”
Liu Qingge had a bad feeling about this, but said, “Then I’ll clean the fish while you get things ready.” At the very least, once the fish was gutted it was a little more difficult to do badly at cooking it.
Shen Yuan turned to give him a somewhat stunned look as if it had never occurred to him to clean the fish. His misgivings grew.
“Will you? Thanks!”
“…en.”
Out of sheer respect for the fish, Liu Qingge handed Shen Yuan the smallest one first to see how he handled it. And then watched with fascination as Shen Yuan confidently charred the poor sacrifice, apparently spending most of the cooking time staring off at the courtyard before belatedly remembering what he was doing and turning the fish to another side.
It finally caught on fire as if the fish’s soul was protesting its mistreatment. Yelping and flailing, Shen Yuan extinguished the flames and stared uncomprehendingly at the fish-shaped bit of charcoal left behind.
There was an awkward silence before Shen Yuan looked back at him and, on seeing his utterly impassive expression, hung his head.
[...]
“…I’ll be in charge of cooking.”
“…en.”

Ishqbaaz Liveblog, E3: A Really Good Premise
I finally understand the appeal of the show. It's the perfect mix of politics, family relationships with a hint of star-crossed-hate-love story. So far. It's like a darker version of Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham and I must say, it's really interesting and now I'm even more pissed that they ruined it!
Again - another show that would've done exceedinly well had it ended a year earlier or been turned into seasons. If IPK is India's Pride and Prejudice, then Ishqbaaz could easily be India's Dynasty.
Without further ado, here's the liveblog:
Episode 3 “A Really Good Premise”
- Wah, Shivaay has a habit of walking away!
- Rudra, valid question that why Shivaay isn’t throwing Anika out!
- Om ka look - kuch toh hai.
- Experience? Kamzori?
- Dadi advice time. Lol, the advice went right over Rudra’s head.
- Acha, Shivaay’s kamzori is his khandaan. Nafrat bhi rishta? I feel like Rudy right now! Thank God Dadi explained everything.
- LOL, Anika being disappointed in a big party is ME!
- HAHA LOL Anika!!!!!!!! She knows Shivaay (great) and her look.
- Hahaha this whole dialogue is like 5 buckets of foreshadowing. There is no shadow left in foreshadow.
- Rudy’s ghatiya shayar is kaabil e taareef.
- Omkara’s belief system is really good - my fav bro right now.
- Ok, each of the bros are some elements.
- Nice chemistry/mining/mineral class?
- Shivaay is iron, Omkara is gold. LOL what is Rudy?
- Dadi hitting Rudy for his immaturity is me - that adorable hitting is everything.
- Ok ab tak they’ve said Ishqbaaz 25 times.
- HAHAHAH DADI already approves Anika! Nice, we stan independent girls. Oh shit, Dadi said about the parents. Poor Anika, she wants a fam :(
- SVETLANA, TEJ, GET OUT OF MY LINE OF VISION!
- Home Minister - hello bald chacha!
- I must say, Shivaay is highly influenced (in terms of personality) by his Tej uncle. The skin level similarities are interesting to note.
- Rudy and Om already stanning Anika.
- Anika, don’t hold random poori without gloves #covid
- Hahaha, hilarious miscommunication!
- Wah, Rudy is half afraid of Anika’s tashnbaazi. OM IS SO IMPRESSED! I am REALLY liking Anika right now! “Kha kar!” Wah, great use of puns!!!
- This Home Minister might get screwed over like Mool Rajani (I’m just searching for a Mool Rajani right now)
- Tej is dramatic AF.
- Hahahahaha, Home Minister - you’re finding your nobility along with the coins - on the floor.
- TEJ IS SO DRAMATIC. I like him for this! Dude can be an interesting character in the show!
- Mrs. Oberoi????? Ah ofc, the secretary.
- POOR JHANVI - I’M WITH YOU AUNTY! I’LL POUR TEJ’S BLOOD INTO THE BUCKETS OF PAINT SHIVIKA LATER, MUCH LATER, MAKE OUT IN (that’s the blood of all the shitty people and that’s canon)
- It’s sad but true, in really rich societies people are really ok with infidelities and stuff like that. Ugh, seen these shit first hand.
- JHANVI I’LL KILL TEJ AND SVETLANA FOR YOU.
- TEJ - DIE! HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO YOUR BEAUTIFUL WIFE!
- Pandit ji, is it possible to burn Tej and Svetlana as offerings? We still do that?
- Lo, phirse Bhaiyon ka advertisement start.
- I must say, what mast paparazzi, I love all their advertisements. From songs to outfits, these kids are like “dude let our parents crap, we’ll coordinate our entry EVERY SINGLE TIME” Squad goals, legit.
- This is Bharat Matrimony.
- Omkara Oberoi, “mere nazar aur nazariya roshni ki tarha hai. Ya toh hai, ya nahi.” Shayar, artist, will give really good hair genes to future children.
- Rudra Oberoi, “ARRE KAB TAK JAWAANI CHUPAAOGI RAANI, MUJHE KO KITNA SATAOGI RAANI (OR NATASHA, OR SHREYA, IDC ABOUT THE NAMES) MUJHSE SH- NOPE - FLIRTING KAROGI….. OH MUJHSE FLIRTING KARO JI!” Abs. The end.
- Shivaay Singh Oberoi “Who the fuck keeps on making my accounts?” *bam goes another phone*
- Or Nirma advertisement?
- Dadi is like LOOK AT MY SANSKAR, that totally skipped a generation.
- Ok the press and show remembers that Priyanka is a powerful Oberoi too.
- Dude, leave the girl alone too. Let her breathe.
- YES ANIKA SAVE HER!
- Who are Priyanka’s parents? YES ANIKA, ask important questions. Poor Priyanka. Stuck in this mill of wealthy family politics and shit. Yaar paani pilao koi!
- You know I’m really liking Anika so far!
- OH IT IS THE GANESHA OM MADE! WITH THE RED (good job Om and sorry for the previous question).
- OK I’M WAITING FOR THE K3G SCENE. CHALO BROS EK SAATH AARTI KARO. GIVE COMPETITION TO HUM SAATH SAATH HAI!
- DO IT, GIVE EVERYONE THE HEART ATTACK.
- Pinky… you got married to the wrong brother. Tej and Pinky should’ve married - it would’ve been hilarious AF.
- Aye Haye, Shivaay didn’t forget his smallest bro either.
- Ok today’s poster is Om Jai Jagdish!
- #Feelingdharmic.
- Shivaay’s redeeming quality is the fact that he’s a really good brother.
- YAY K3G scene strikes!
- I’m loving the aesthetic of the show as of yet - I still have questions as to what happens later. Very cohesive writing too. Usually first twenty five episodes are (cause that holds the pitch of the show and stuff)
- Meanwhile… Tej has grinned his molars to nothing, Pinky has done 50000 eye rolls, Svetlana doing random khusur pusur and Dadi just crying tears of happiness (I’m Dadi)
- OH NO, self burning live candle dude is coming on fore.
- Dude, kisko jalana tha
- aur kaun jal raha hai.
- Yeah dude, Ganesh ji punishes paapis instantly.
- Wait are the three bros lost in puja that they don’t see—
- WTF, damn that’s scary.
- The End -
Well well well, I’m excited to liveblog the next episode! See you tomorrow (good thing this was queued). Also, what wouldn’t I have given to see IPK in this quality camera and INITIAL aesthetics (focus on initial, I have no idea what shit happens later in this show). This HD quality main Rabba Ve = Jalebi nosebleeds.

I have continued my weird destiel fic thing! This part is canon compliant with season 6.
Chapter one is here
Chapter two is here
<><><><><><><><><>
Chapter 3: season 6
The Third Man
{“I pray to Castiel to get his feathery ass down here-“ and then suddenly Cas was there in all his trenchcoated glory. He hadn’t come when Sam had prayed all those times, but Dean had called once and here was Cas. Well, no time to think about that now.
{“Dean and I do share a more profound bond..” he’d been very careful with his wording, yet the that was too honest feeling had returned. Cas sighed inwardly. He was not built for emotions. He was not built for choosing his words.
{“You’re gonna torture a kid?”
“I can’t care about that Dean! I don’t have the luxury.” Cas’s voice cracked as he said it, and Dean knew he did care about it. After all, if there was one thing he knew about Cas, it was that he cared more then he should.
6-7
{“I don’t know what’s wrong with him, but I do want to help.” Couldn’t that be enough for Dean? Cas had a war to worry about, he didn’t have time for this. Yet he was helping Dean anyway, because- no. Shut it down. Yet he was helping Dean anyway. Wasn’t that enough? Aren’t I enough?
{“Of course. Your problems always come first.” Coming from anyone else, Dean would think that was sarcasm, but this was Cas. Plus, the look the angel gave him... well, he was pretty sure Cas was being honest. The guy had a war to fight, and he was still helping them. Dean felt a twinge of guilt, but he didn’t have time to dwell on it, because Cas was already gone. Fricking angels.
Caged Heat
{“I learned that from the pizza man.” Dean couldn’t help but stare at Cas and the demon he had just been making out with. Since when has he been interested in that stuff? He watches Cas smooth a hand over swollen lips. An odd burning sensation roots itself in Dean’s stomach. Suddenly, he wants to strangle Meg. Because she’s a demon, probably, he tells himself. It’s just instinct.
My Heart Will Go On
{“You have me confused with the other angel. You know, the one in the dirty trench coat who’s in love with you?” Dean’s brain wisely decided to shut down at that. When Balthazar left, the only thing he let himself think was Cas’s coat isn’t dirty. The other thoughts-well they weren’t so much thoughts as half formed screams and fast heartbeats-he pushed to the back of his mind to be taken out and examined never.
{“You need new friends Cas.”
“I’m trying to save the ones I have, Dean.” It’s always strange to call Dean his friend. The word friend encompasses so much to humans, everything from ‘this person makes me happy’ to ‘I don’t want to live without you.’ Humanity is still fascinating. Cas will keep Dean safe. It is his priority, always. This person makes me happy.
{“50000 new souls for your war machine.” As fate talks, Cas can only be grateful that the Winchesters can’t hear her. If they knew... well, it wouldn’t be pretty. Dean takes trust so seriously. Cas has the odd feeling that he is digging himself into a hole. This is the only way, he thinks. Lie, beat Raphael, keep them in your life. Simple enough. He stops Balthazar from stabbing fate, because her sisters would come after the Winchesters, and he can’t have that. As time unfreezes, and Cas watches Dean startle awake back into his own timeline, green eyes flying open, he realizes something terrifying. He is an entity, an eldritch being millions of years old. He has known Dean for less then a fraction of his immortal life and yet... I don’t want to live without you.
18-19
{“I think you call him when you need something.” Rachel’s words cut deeper then they should. Dean considers Cas the best friend he’s ever had, but their life means friendship is built in the middle of life threatening situations. There was another thought too, buried deep. At least needing something gives me an excuse. At least if he doesn’t show up I can pretend he doesn’t want to help, not he doesn’t want to see me. It’s strange to need an excuse to talk to someone, but Dean can’t help it. Instead of studying either of these revelations, he denies what this angel has said, and resumes arguing with her.
{“There are millions of lives at stake here not just two!” Even as Cas says it, he feels the weight of his words on his own actions. How many people had he sacrificed to save two recently? Cas doesn’t stop Dean from leaving with the children. He could have, but he knows how hypocritical it would be. The greater good doesn’t always mean everything, he reasons.
{When Cas gets his powers back, the first thing he does (well, after smiting all the monsters in the diner) is heal Dean. The bite on his neck vanishes as Cas places a hand on Dean’s shoulder. He tells himself it is for grounding purposes, but he knows he doesn’t need to touch someone to heal them. He also knows he doesn’t usually want to. He also knows that he’s had to use the word usually instead of always a lot more since he met Dean.
The Man Who Would Be King
{“But Cas, you’ll call right? If you get into real trouble?” There is more Dean wants to say, but he can’t. Usually they would be hunting Crowley together, but Sam and Bobby think Cas-their Cas, who has saved their lives more times then he can count-might be working with the king of Hell. It’s ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous. And yet... his instincts are telling him they’re right. He always goes with his gut, but with Cas... there’s something in his heart straining against it. Innocent until proven guilty, he thinks stubbornly. As Cas teleports away, Dean wishes he could believe the angel will call if he has to, but he has a feeling those words will be ignored.
{“I still considered myself the Winchester’s guardian. After all, they taught me how to stand up, what to stand for.” As he goes over the story in his head, Cas thinks about what else he’s learned from them. From Dean. How to smile, how to cry. How to feel so much and then repress it like your life depends on it. How to love.
{“This is Cas guys!” Dean knows it’s a weak argument, but they don’t know the guy like he does. He thinks of Cas saying “profound bond” and realizes it’s true. Sam and Bobby weren’t there in Hell. They weren’t there sitting on that park bench, or in that bar. They didn’t sit in the Impala afterwards, actually laughing for the first time in years. Dean blinks a few times. There is an emotion hovering at the surface of his mind that he does not want to look at too closely right now.
{“Where were you when I needed to hear it?”
“I was there. Where were you?” There are tears in Dean’s eyes as he looks at Cas over the fire. I hurt him again, he thinks numbly. Sam and Dean don’t understand the stakes of the war in heaven is all. They don’t understand that this betrayal was necessary. But as Cas looks at Dean, his certainty wavers. It feels like the moment before he chose to stop Lucifer, except this time he is already in the wrong, and it is too late, and he hurt Dean.
{“I’m doing this for you Dean. I’m doing this because of you.” Dean stares at the angel in front of him. Cas is always saying shit like this, but this time it’s a lie and they both know it. Has it always been a lie? What were his real motives? Of course he wasn’t always doing this stuff for me. I was stupid to believe it. His father’s words ring in his head. Useless. Pathetic. Cas betrayed them. Cas betrayed him, and it hurts like hell.
{“Next to Sam, you and Bobby are the closest things I have to family.” It feels like a knife, sliding below Cas’s layers of self righteousness and belief and inserting itself into his chest. He stops breathing. Dean did legitimately care about him, and now he’s gone and burned it all down. What choice did I have? He thinks desperately. It is too late now.
Let It Bleed
{“I do everything that you ask, I always come when you call, and I am your friend.” Dean wishes he could accept that. All he wants is to hug Cas and tell him it’s okay, and have everything go back to normal. But Cas betrayed them, and now Lisa and Ben are in danger, and Dean feels like he’s falling through the floor.
{“I wish this changed anything.”
“I know. Me too.” He ruined it. Castiel, the broken angel, the fallen angel. Whatever he might have had with Dean he ruined it like he ruined everything else. It feels like a black hole opening up inside him. He feels something on his face, and lifts a shaky hand to touch his cheeks. They are wet. Just keep going. All you can do now is defeat Raphael. Now you have no reason not to. Now you will do what you must. Dean clearly doesn’t care anymore, so there is nothing holding Cas back.
The Man Who Knew Too Much
{“we were family once. I’d have died for you. I almost did a few times. I’ve lost Lisa, I’ve lost Ben, I’ve lost Sam. Don’t make me lose you too.” It was the closest Dean could come to saying what he meant, which was please, I need you here. He thought he saw Cas’s expression waver for a moment, but then the angel steeled himself and Dean felt a sinking sensation. He knew it-whatever it was or had been-was over before Cas opened his mouth.
{“You’re not my family Dean. I have no family.” He almost choked on the words as he said them. It was true, he told himself. Dean wasn’t family, he never would be. He was just a human. He is more than family, whispers the traitorous part of himself that had made him betray Heaven for this one human. But Cas sees his words hit Dean like a javelin, and he knows there is no going back. I’m sorry. I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry.
{All the souls from purgatory are in Cas, and he remembers why he wasn’t supposed to fall. This is his destiny.
{As Castiel tells them to kneel or die, Dean remembers why he’s been scared to fly since forever. There’s always a crash.
Then all hell-well, all Purgatory breaks loose, and neither of them have time to get lost in memories.

Frost and Chilllblaine
Lord, where do I start? Frost can think he’s hot all she wants (but he’s literally not) the man is creepier than a creep and the fact that he’s been stalking Caitlin and herself for as long as he claims proves massive warning bells. At the very least after everything Caitlin went through with “Jay” and also Ramsey to a degree, you’d expect Frost to not be for that in itself.
WHO wants a prison romance? Literally nOBODY. Ugh. UGH. What a waste of valuable screentime. And if they’re going to be playing like “I’m sexy and I know it” the next time they’re on screen then that’s somehow even more expository than Cisco and Kamilla’s 50000 “babes”. Throw the whole damn ship away. It’s trash. Goodbye.
If Frost had to have a love interest, wouldn’t it have been WAY more interesting if she fell for a nice person? Like, a nervous dweeby super blushy and sweet character? An opposites attract type thing? Or at LEAST like snakeboi dude ? Like why not him. If they had to. I also still headcanon she’s ace lol so yeah the entire thing is 🥴

character development in season 2 of the umbrella academy as rated by me:
- luther!!! went from being a creepy asshole!!! to a himbo!!! 😩 we don’t deserve it, honestly, this generosity (10/10)
- vanya says wlw rights (which lowkey echoes the internalization of her powers in season 1 i mean sissy isn’t scared of vanya’s powers and loves her deeply and wholly for who she is and it’s all she has ever wanted i’m) (9/10)
- allison is, has been, and forever will be the glue that holds this family together (50000/10) and i think it’s especially interesting how they showed the temptation throughout this season—showing that allison knows its cost would only use her powers if she really needed to (giving her numerous justifiable opportunities), but also showing how it essentially consumes her to the point she’s unrecognizable (12/10 i love her so much)
- too much of diego’s character is defined by his relationships with others—like that therapist guy said at the beginning... he was my favorite in season 1 because of his relationships (which we got a little of with grace) but he mostly interacted with lila and luther so idk how to feel... (6/10)
- klaus. klaus. klaus. i wish they’d spent more time on his PTSD this season—we saw him try to save dave, but it all seemed kind of... convenient? i liked the funeral scene with ben. and i liked his scenes with his family... i just, i don’t know. (4/10)
- aidan gallagher is a god among men, i tell you. five’s character was pretty much consistent with last season, but his character has always been the most intriguing anyway. he cares about his siblings the most openly, he has trauma, and he’s recognized that he doesn’t like his past. (10/10)
- though it was cheesy at times, i really liked ben’s character arc this season... right up until he died. it was just completely out of nowhere? and kind of irks me because i feel like he would want to say goodbye to the rest of his siblings tooespecially when they make a point to say he’s missed them all... i do like that he’s alive for the sparrow academy, though (7/10)
- i absolutely did not expect to sympathize with reginald hargreeves but here we are—he was one of my favorite parts of this season by far, which sounds absolutely insane i loved him and grace, his talk with five, the fact that he wanted to keep JFK alive... i don’t know,,,, it was really intriguing (10/10)
- let me tELL YOU the emotional rollercoaster i went on with lila this season. but i think it’s safe to say i really like her. she’s not my favorite, but i’m really interested in seeing how she’ll grow (8/10)
- RAY. (1000/10) i was deeply invested both in him as a character and his relationship with allison,,,, i just wish we had more time with him

the untamed is on netflix, right? i think i've seen it. i'm enjoying your posts about it and my mom would love if i watched a chinese show (it looks chinese, i might be wrong though) but i'm kinda short on time so please pitch to me why i should watch it so i will be convinced and look past the lack fo time
Anonymous asked:
ok the untamed looks cool af how doesone watch it
A L L R I G H T I’m finally going to make a rec post, I’ve put this off long enough. You’ve definitely already started to watch it, clever, so please forgive me for using this as an excuse to pitch this show.
So, for starters, Anon, The Untamed is indeed on Netflix! It is in Chinese! If you (like me) do not understand Mandarin Chinese, the Netflix English subbing is…fine, it’s fine, but I recommend poking around in the fandom because every single form of address is changed to the character’s full name. And maybe I just spent too much time doing translations for my old Spanish and Chinese and especially Latin classes, but I think there are some things that, A, shouldn’t be translated or, B, should be translated awkwardly over being translated incoherently.
I digress. My thoughts about maintaining forms of address in their native language for the sake of clarifying levels of respect/etc are not relevant here. Chuck a note in my inbox if/when you get confused about everyone’s three names and I’ll write/link you a guide.
POINT IS. The Untamed is an adaptation of the novel Mo Dao Zu Shi, which is generally translated as “The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation,” and my quick pitch for it is: There’s a plot, sure sure, it’s the story of Wei Wuxian (his fall from grace to Most Hated Person In Magic!China, and then his resurrection and efforts to solve a murder), and if you like character-driven fantasy narratives you Will Like This
B U T
You know that post “but is he…you know…your narrative foil?” That’s this show. If what you crave is “one character committedly pines over another for twenty years even when the entire world hates that person,” please let me interest you in Lan Wangji, the love interest. They have a kid together. It’s a great romance. Literally what else do you want from me. I love a narrative foil, I love a tragedy, I love an epic love story, I love a found family. And good GOD do I love a character who self-destructs in an effort to do the right thing.
Wei Wuxian isn’t evil. He’s not even especially malicious. But when the chips were down and he needed to survive, and to save people, and to figure something out, he took the only avenue left to him, and it was—it was inevitable, really, that it make him the villain of the piece. He saved a lot of lives. Everyone except Lan Wangji hates him for it. He’s already thoroughly despised by the time he starts actually doing things that are objectively bad. Talk to me about it forever.
My usual list of free-form associative Things I Like That You Will Probably Also Like under the cut:
Wei Wuxian! I know he’s the main character but I love him so much that he gets a bullet point! He’s the kind of lighthearted goofball who’s perfected the “I Would Honestly Die Before Showing Emotion To Anyone, How Dare You Imply That I Am Not Sincere In My Perpetual Good Humor” mask, and it hits like a sledgehammer when that mask cracks. I would watch this actor flip between smiles and homicidal rage all day. He gets a hug from Son Boy in the last episode and I almost cried. 50000/10.
Lan Wangji! A great love interest! Noble to the core! Incredibly bitchy! I want five more just like him!
This is where I mention that China has strict censorship laws, so, despite the fact that they kiss and have sex and get married and the whole nine in the book, the show is all Intense Staring And Love Declarations Where They Never Say The L-Word. But like. Please trust me, it’s actually So Romance. If anything I think I like the romance in the show better.
Wen Ning!
I don’t have anything else to say about him, I just love him so goddamn much. He and his sister Wen Qing are stars and the rest of these sinners don’t deserve them.
COMPETENT. VILLAINS. I’ve spilled a lot of ink on this one lately, but I love competent villainy, I love villains who have Goals and plan to Achieve Them and actually pull it off. Jin Guangyao, the big bad of the “present”(the part where Wei Wuxian is resurrected and kicking around trying to solve a murder), is actually phenomenally good at his job and I support him even though I enjoyed watching him go down in flames. There are enough villains in this show for everyone to have their preferred type of villain, from Devoted Right Hand Man to Megalomaniacal Overlord to Freewheeling Engine Of Death. GREAT villains in this show. Which brings me to…
YI! CITY! ARC! I’m not going to tell you that much about it, but it’s dark and tragic and features my very favorite villain in the entire show, Xue Yang, who is just. *chef kiss* A horrible monster of a man. An unapologetic, cold-eyed shriek of a villain. The very best at what he does, and what he does is absolutely horrible, and I would watch an entire series about this five-ish episode arc. Also, I’ve adopted Song Lan/Xiao Xingchen from the Tragic Ships Shelter and someone should toss me a headcanon ask for them. Any AU your little heart desires. I love them.
THE MAGIC! I know it took me a long time to get here, but it’s a very character driven show and I am a very character driven person and I just wanted to yell about characters for a minute. But anyway, I’m told that the Untamed is a great onboarding point for this genre of Chinese fantasy novel, because they do a really good job of making the necessary points accessible. I had no familiarity with wuxia/xianxia/etc when I started watching this and everything about cultivation made sense to me, or at least enough sense to be going on with. It’s very lovely and fascinating and it’s where they put their Entire Non-Clothing Budget.
This is where I mention that their effects department clearly used their entire funding for, like, cool sword stunts and beautiful clothing. The wolf puppet in particular is just. Almost adorably terrible. If that’s going to severely impact your enjoyment, Idk what to tell you, man.
Related to the above, I love plotlines about characters losing control of their magic. That’s all I’m going to say about it.
Unreliable narrators, baby! They set up a lot of concrete facts about Wei Wuxian in the first two episodes that become obvious as complete bullshit as you go on, and it’s very satisfying to watch! See also, Nie Huaisang, the most unreliable narrator of them all, whom I adore.
Beyond all those things…it’s just got a lot of great relationships in it. It’s hugely driven by the affection people have for each other, or the places they feel they’vebeen deprived of that affection. It has a lot of iterations of the same relationship in wildly distinct ways, if that makes sense—offhand, there are maybe four major sets of siblings, five if you count the Jins, and they are all radically different and insanely compelling. The basic structure of Wei Wuxian/Lan Wangji, the “black cultivator/white cultivator on a crusade to change the world” thing, appears a lot of times, and goes horribly awry in a slightly different way for all of them. That kind of in-universe repetition of themes, doing the same thing over and over again looking for the Right Path, is one of my favorite things to appear in a story—see also, the Kencyrath (twins, Dreamweavers, Knorth lords, loyal Kendar, etc), the Animorphs (warrior teams, deaths on the field, etc), any number of other things I yell about.
TL;DR: The story is great and the cultivation is fascinatingand the schemes are elaborate, but

More TPN S2 demon thoughts
@just-like-playing-tag on TPN S02E01 Thoughts:
I'm not entirely sure, but I'm pretty confident that when Gilda says at the start “it's a completely different forest from where we came” she's not referring to another forest they've seen after escaping, but to the forest they were used to back at the House, the one they used to play tag in. Anyway I loved hearing your thoughts, they're so on point 💕💕 Have you got any particular opinion on the demons at the end?
I personally interpreted it as the forest directly after the wall cliff didn’t have all those magical elements at least for a bit, they then reached that cliff where they looked over the land (which is probably what they mean when they say “we saw a river from above”) and then when they went further I assume that’s roughly where we start and that’s when the fantastical elements begin.
So it’s not another forest per se but the environment changed a bit.
_____________________________
ANYWAY. NEXT QUESTION.
Have you got any particular opinion on the demons at the end?
Sadly my opinion is very much impacted by vague knowledge I already have but my pure anime-only friends’ reaction was “welp, they landed on another farm”, but as it went on, they kind of went away from that idea, thinking it’d be unlikely for them to be so peaceful. they also thought that they’re part of Minerva’s group since they were heading there, but I wasn’t not sure if they’ve been on the way for that long - plus, at the end demon girl confirmed that she doesn’t know who he is, so that’s obsolete. Plus that’s interesting considering he seems to be a fairly wide-spread human books publisher / author / whatever, so either there’s a huge disconnect between human and demon society or they’ve simply always lived in that forest, and therefore don’t know).
I’m pretty curious on if this will go into some philosophical elements (with the whole eating living beings angle and all that fun stuff) or if they have a reason other than sympathy to help humans.* I also wonder if they’ve done so before. They seem to keep an eye on their region, since they acted pretty fast (even splitting up and exactly knowing where they have to go, which is interesting, I wonder if they have any sense or thing for surveillance), but I doubt that children escaping is that frequent of an occurrence, so I’m curious if there’s another reason they keep an eye on the region or if that’s just plot convenience.
* (reason to help humans:) like for example, they themselves seem to be a lot more human than the average demon we’ve seen so far, their masks seemingly acting as a replacement for features they assumingly don’t naturally have like horns and the multiple eyes. Or maybe Sonju just has another horn under the mask’s horn, that’d be funny I guess haha-
I’m not sure if the hierarchy in the demons’ society is the more human you are, the more at the bottom you are because if that was the case, that’d explain why they live in this random ass forest where we’ve only seen one other very animalistic demon (the one that tried to eat them) and of course the ones from GF hunting them, who are kind of humanoid but also really buff and big and kind of disproportionate.
So maybe the more humans ones are actually at the top since the muscular ones tend to be kind of disfigurated like the one with only one muscular arm in S1 (then again that could also be an argument for them being higher since they have brute force, but they seem more like a tool to me) and their masks (...?? Im not sure what they are, I thought it was some bone thing, but then in the OP this happens, SO I’M JUST CONFUSION) seem kind of clunky.
now that I look at it properly, how does that even work??? we’ve seen demons with two eyes before, their eyes were centered and big
and worked like normal eyes, so why are there so many tiny eyes WHAT- that’S NOT HOW EYES WORK.
Either way, what I was actually gonna mention is that the demon below the bone mask thing (and potentially going berserk or something, idk what he did to his eyes :D) actually looks a lot like the demon that wants to eat them in Ep1.
I’m not sure if this implies that
a) this demon is a went-berserk or whatever demon
b) they are simply both demons and so they look alike
c) one stems from the other evolutionary.
Demons in general (see above) seem awfully engineered at times, like the ones I mentioned above and demon “dogs” who run on all 4 legs. (interestingly, and I didn’t really notice it the first time) They even bump into the trees when chasing Ray so they don’t seem to have great maneuvering abilities since they’re so big and heavy.
And while I like the idea of demons being some engineered species by humans or something, I don’t think that’s likely when they seem to have been around for such a long time (GF farm alone has had like 50000 children according to their IDs after all; see my year count post which could of course be wrong! they could be farming a lot more per year but even so, for them to be genetically engineered from the ground up would require them to have farmed like 500 children per year if they “took over” 100 years ago, which clearly isn’t happening in GF at least), so I guess it’s evolutionary (or maybe not, I mean those eyes are whack, so it could also be some magic evolution or something).
Of course it could be that demons are fairly new to the picture and some humans just want to kill off some humans and do some brain research but I feel like they could do that without the entire farm setup and demons too. So I assume, while that technically could be a part of the motivation in the human and demons deal hinted in the OP, it’s probably a given that demons aren’t stemming from humans (but if they do, that’d be very ironic. Imagine bio engineering a species which then forces you to make a deal hsuajds)
In short: I don’t know anything, actually.
WHAT I MEANT TO GET AT ORIGINALLY, if Sonju and the demon girl (i dont think her name was said yet, I apologize if it was - also noteably a female demon! I wonder if that’s why they’re hiding / seemingly living separated. Are girls just not wanted in demon society? there aren’t any in the farm force, neither in the higher ups that we’ve seen in S1 so I’m... HM.) [they] are more humanoid and if that means they’re “higher rank” then I could see them having rejected the society in part and that’s why they’re living in that forest seemingly on their own (though we haven’t seen the rest of their base of course).
So. I hope those thoughts weren’t a complete mess sauihasj (after rereading I can def say they are but I don’t know how to structure them so. good luck)
thanks for reading if you did.
