i was lucky enough to get adopted by members of my bio family but i remember a lot as a kid questioning why my mom wasnt in my life and i always got the answer "she couldnt take care of you, its better this way because you would probably have a sad life with her" from people like guidance counsellors and i think its fucked up that the first line was "remove the child" and not "support a woman who was in dire need", especially because now she has support and a decent job and a family and her young son is doing great. she loves having him hes her world. like my whole life it was just treated as some inherent trait of hers that she could never be responsible enough for a child when actually she was just poor and abused. they will always try to frame it as the fault of the parents because of some inherent trait that makes them inadequate so they can justify splitting families when support and proper abortion, pre-natal, natal, and child care will always result in a healthier environment
