I had the sauce. First I just had a spoon of it bc I had nothing to eat it on, good, then I made dinner and it was nice! Though neglecting to close the bottle all the way makes everything smell like the sauce. And then I just had it again because I got re-hungry and ate the leftovers and I realized HEY! This is Habernero, I love Habernero sauce.

It hot, it sure is, my lips are bright-ass red.

I'm so glad to have this sauce. It's tradition that whenever Ma goes somewhere, she'll get hot sauce (or spicy food), but it felt like there was a very long lapse.

My mother got me this from Colorado and I can’t wait to drink it all like the freak I am.

It was raining when I got there but quit when I was leaving. I stopped at the store after that for two items. For dinner I am making one of my faves, homemade beany-weenies.

Yeah, I know, not exactly elegant chow. I make mine with a little powdered super-hot dried pepper and add stuff like molasses and brown sugar to balance the heat. Yes, it’s that hot. The pepper powder is powdered Carolina Reapers, Ghost peppers and habernero peppers 🌶️

I also got a bountiful (absolutely pathetic) pepper harvest of two (2) undersized Aleppo peppers! I think my P-patch is still too clay heavy even after amendments for peppers and mustards to be happy. On the bright side it means I have seeds to save for next year when I can try again!

I also may have put one of them raw in my mouth and work and it was quite painful!! I figured “hey it’s not a habernero how bad could it be?” Unfortunately my spice tolerance wasn’t good enough and I had to rush to drink something. (But not before accidentally brushing past one of my eyes with my capsaicin hands)

(They’re sweet and tasty! Just remember to cook them unless you have a very good tolerance! 😅)

When I worked at my last job, it was a college town in the mountains of New England, so there was an entire row of restaurants and cafes I could walk to for lunch. I am a bit of a loner, absolutely the type to sit in a restaurant with headphones in.

I had two favorites; the train car cafe and the dog bar. I am a person who will always tip at least 15 percent, because I've lived off the differences tips can make, and I don't wish that fate on anyone.

The train car was standard American breakfast/brunch fare and even though every server there knew that I was almost inevitably going to order a habernero mimosa and a spinach and mushroom benedict with fried artichokes, they always let me scan the menue and take as long as I needed to make the same choice I made every week, and because they already knew what I was gonna order and when I was gonna decide to order it, my food came almost supernaturally fast.

The dog bar was a tavern, and because they were only open early enough for me to get lunch there on Fridays, I always had the same waiter. And I always ordered their house salad to start. I don't like tomatoes or cucumbers, so I always picked them out. Eventually, my guy just started bringing me the salad without those items despite the fact that I'd never asked him to remove them (I wouldn't make someone's job harder like that) and he never mentioned that he noticed.

The moral of this story is that humans are wonderful, especially service workers, and if you allow and incentivize people to be kind, they will so so often rise to the occasion.

Starving to death this morning because ive been to the new local cafe twice this week already and if i go a third time ill look desperate.
