I've figured out what my method for writing ..
..Andersen-style "fairy tales" is:
Daydream the story over, and over, and over.
Until, when I write it down, it's like I'm retelling a story I've heard all my life -- like "Princess and the Pea" or "The Emperor's New Clothes."
(BYW: I'm pretty sure Hans Christian Andersen was a biromantic ace, and maybe genderqueer [if I'm reading details in the full "Ugly Duckling" right]).

H.C. Andersen (March 2, 1871 - 1941) was a Danish architect who trained at the Academy, graduating in 1902. He quickly began designing villas and summer cottages for wealthy Danes, such as shipping magnate A.P. Møller. The house in Rågeleje was ready in 1917 and featured a distinctive compass shaped central window...

something that always makes me emotional when i think about h.c. andersen is that he invented one of the most beloved christmas decorations used in denmark still to this day.
this man didn't just leave us his wonderful stories and tales, but every december we sit down and make decoration upon decoration that he created. they're used for fancy displays and you'll have one hanging on your tree that you made when you were three.
he is truly one of the people who have left the biggest cultural marks in danish history as a single individual.
det flettede julehjertet (the plaided christmas heart) is such a wonderful beautiful and simple symbol of christmas and i am so happy he gave that to us.

the first is the traditional one, the second is a more advanced one with h.c. andersen's profile.

Mermaids are from cultures all over the world AND The Little Mermaid was written because the author was rejected by a MAN.
Mermaids can be from all cultures all over the world, that is true. The Little Mermaid ("Den lille Havfrue") of the original story however, is not.

fhfasdhfkasjfhas this image is making me lose it somehow. heracles said 'is that eagle bothering you king' and did not wait for an answer, though he appears to have showed up a little late since the eagle seems to have gotten one beakful of liver in as a last meal. the way its claw is curled up like 'and I would have gotten away with it for another eternity too if it weren't for you meddling greek heroes'. prometheus' expression that conveys nothing so much as world-weary '...well shit, I guess'. the artfully draped capes of censorship.
('prometheus unbound' by carl bloch. this is apparently the only photo of it that exists; the real painting has been lost?)

And I just wanna see George with flowers scattered on his long hair

A concept of how I wanna draw his merm form and embellishments.I wanted to give him this flowy Art Nouveou effect. Looked up the oldest illustrations from the original writing by Andersen. Because I just love the whimsical vibe they give😍😭✨✨

"and she put a wreath of white lilies round her hair, but every petal of the flowers was half a pearl; then the old queen had eight oysters fixed on to the princess’s tail to show her high rank."

As a connoisseur of bad CGI movies and H.C. Andersen, what do you think of the movie ‘the ugly duckling and me’?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i was gonna say “I have seen this before but it was so long ago”, but looking it up and It is not the one I’ve seen. Looks like shit, I must watch it.
I think I was mixing it up with this movie.
