yes it's very interesting. almost as if sjm made the deliberate choice to have their relationship shift after the night his bonus chapter takes place. it's almost like she was telling us to look and pay attention to how they act around each other, even without the bonus chapter... for whatever reason 🤭

I was thinking about Gwynriel's book. We know that having Azriel's pov will be heartbroken. He has a very traumatic past.

For me, as a survivor, Gwyn's pov is going to be even harder to read. The events of Sangravah were very hard to read in ACOSF. We are going to see even more how those events affected her life.

I know that I will need a long therapy session after reading this book.

That whole statement is wrong for many reasons and if you can’t see that yourself then you are a shitty person and I think you need to go read the books again because YOU CLEARLY HAVEN’T!! I don’t want to say anything else and I don’t think I have to. Everything is in the books; if you read them, and have basic reading comprehension skills, then you will understand.

Trying to busy herself, Nesta needed distractions. No, she yearned for the respite that her mind needed to keep from those pestering thoughts. The ones that told her all those that she loved were far, far away. Unable to find her sisters had only been the tipping point. It all seemed to spiral ever since the realization struck her, she was utterly alone in this land. From the memories she has gained, she knows she is not in Prythia. Which is only a small relief. So, without any more answers, she loses herself among the bustling marketplace.

"Gwyn?" The name slips from her mouth before her mind can catch up. She is certain she has seen the unmistakable appearance of a friend who she knows now is more like her sister. Pushing through the crowd, quite harshly, she moves to follow the other. "Stop right there, Gwyneth Berdara!" she shouts over the loud din of the market.

" oh , " gwyn said simply as she continued to look around. she knew her ( former ? ) friend has her defenses up. it took a while for nesta to warm up to people , the priestess included. she tried not to react at the lack of a mention of another sister ; her high lady , feyre. " just the two of you ? " she asked. oh , she wondered if the youngest archeron was forgotten too or if the eldest sister was just staying as closed off as possible. " that's very sweet , " she said with a gentle smile. " there's nothing quite like the love of a sister. " she fought mentioning her own.

"elain?" nesta queried with a tilt of her head. then she shook it and shrugged her shoulders, a bit more ease as she spoke of her sister. "no, she doesn't teach here. she does her own thing." she explained. though she wasn't about to explain what it was to this person who had just walked in off the streets. nesta wasn't the best with people to begin with. but a stranger who was inquiring about her business? and now her sister? she had guards up for a reason. "it's really just me and elain, but i'd say she's as proud of me as i am of me."

You're telling me that SJM purposely wrote in a Facebook comment about how Elucien would have "tension, growth, and healing" to be found together as a red herring?

You're telling me that SJM had Nesta find out about Gwyn's oddly complex lineage, comment on some sort of crackling power in her and also about how rare it was for her to have a last name, all as a red herring?

You're telling me that SJM wrote Azriel and Gwyn sharing so many complementary traits (competitive, singing, interest in combat, not afraid of bloodlust, low self-esteem) is a red herring?

You're telling me that SJM wrote Elain and Lucien sharing so many complementary traits (peace-loving, abhorrence of violence, both very social, light and sun imagery, diplomatic personalities) is a red herring?

At this point, isn't it easier to agree that there's just ONE red herring (Elriel), and it applies for TWO couples (Gwynriel and Elucien)?

Rather than these dozens of red herrings all for one couple. It doesn't make sense. If Elriel were meant to happen, realistically SJM only needed Elucien as a red herring and she just had to need to write Gwyn's interactions with Azriel in a similar way as she wrote Emerie's interactions with Azriel, because no one ships Emerie and Azriel. They don't have mating language together, they don't banter together, his shadows don't do anything special for her, etc.
