Antonio “Sad Eyes” Guzman getting jealous..
a/n: as per request, here’s a sad eye version. :) spooky version <—
pov: jamal and ruby flirts with you, not knowing sad eye was around.
────── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──────
Tumblr media
⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯
The low buzz of tattoo guns filled the small, dimly lit parlor as you sat on a worn leather couch, scrolling through your phone while Sad Eyes leaned over the counter, talking to his boy, the artist. The place smelled faintly of antiseptic and ink, and the walls were covered in framed tattoo designs—some intricate, others simple, but all bold.
Sad Eyes was getting a new piece done today, nothing too crazy, just something he’d been thinking about for a while. You were just here for the moral support, but honestly, you didn’t mind. You liked the quiet, gritty atmosphere of the shop.
The door swung open, and you looked up to see Jamal and Ruby walking in, talking animatedly about something along the lines of ‘Rollerworld money’ and ‘Why would a clue be in a tattoo parlor?’ until they spotted you. Their chatter died down immediately, and their eyes widened in sync. You didn’t know Ruby and Jamal too well, but you did know them through Cesar and they were most certainly not old enough to get a tattoo.
“Oh, hey,” Ruby stammered, giving you a wide grin as he rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. Jamal’s mouth had already opened, ready to fire off some kind of compliment. “Damn, you looking even better than the last time I saw you,” he said with a playful smirk, strutting over like he was some kind of smooth operator.
You chuckled softly, shaking your head. “You two know where you are, right?” you teased, gesturing to the very serious, very inked-up people in the shop. “What’re you doing here?”
Ruby puffed his chest out a little, trying to act cool. “Just…you know, checking the place out. Cesar said this was the best spot in Freeridge. Jamal nodded enthusiastically, still staring at you. “Yeah, but like, we were hoping you’d give us a tour or something. Y’know, personal touch.”
You laughed outright this time, unable to help yourself. “Come back when you’re allowed to get a tattoo without your mamá’s permission,” you teased, your tone light but laced with just enough sarcasm to make them shift uncomfortably.
Jamal tried to recover, puffing out his chest and flashing a grin that didn’t quite meet his eyes. “I don’t need permission, I’m practically grown,” he shot back, but the crack in his voice gave him away. Ruby, on the other hand, was already rubbing the back of his neck, clearly regretting their little stunt as he shuffled his feet, avoiding your gaze.
“You sure about that?” you quipped, giving him a knowing smirk. “Pretty sure last time I saw you, your mom was still packing your lunch.”
Jamal’s confidence wavered as his bravado slipped, and Ruby gave him a nudge as if to say, Abort mission. The faint buzzing of the tattoo machine hummed in the background, adding to the awkward silence as they both glanced around, clearly realizing they were out of their league here.
Before you could respond, the tattoo artist’s voice cut through the buzzing of the machines. “Y’all sure you wanna get at Sad Eyes’ girl like that?” His tone was casual, but there was an unmistakable edge of warning in it. The artist didn’t even bother looking directly at the boys—his eyes were focused on the mirror hanging on the far wall, where Sad Eyes stood leaning against the counter, arms crossed, eyebrow cocked in amusement.
Sad Eyes wasn’t even angry—he didn’t need to be. The casual tilt of his head and the way his lips quirked up ever so slightly in amusement were enough to make most people rethink their actions. Despite the lack of any visible aggression, his presence carried weight, a quiet authority that spoke louder than words.
The boys, however, had yet to notice him. They were still standing there, oblivious to the fact that they were digging their own graves. Jamal had his mouth half-open, likely ready to fire off another awkward attempt at flirting, while Ruby was still shifting nervously on his feet, his false bravado starting to crumble. They hadn’t yet realized the attention of the whole room had shifted toward them—and to Sad Eyes, waiting behind them like a silent storm.
Ruby cleared his throat, on his road to recovery from his big ego crash, “You know, I could take care of you—“
“Yeah?” a low voice cut in, smooth but laced with subtle authority. Jamal’s face froze mid-flirt, his cocky grin evaporating as Sad Eyes strolled over from the corner, tilting his head just enough to seem intrigued but with that unmistakable edge that made anyone think twice. His steps were slow, calculated, like he wasn’t in any hurry—because he didn’t need to be. The room had already gone quiet, the faint buzz of tattoo machines the only background noise.
Sad Eyes stood tall as he closed the distance, eyes glancing down at Jamal and Ruby with a quiet amusement. “You sure about that?” he asked, his voice low and easy, almost teasing, but heavy enough to make both boys stiffen.
The tattoo artist leaned back in his chair, arms folded, a grin tugging at his lips as if the whole thing was the best entertainment he’d had all day. “This is gonna be good,” he muttered under his breath, shooting you a knowing glance.
Ruby’s earlier confidence dissolved in an instant, his shoulders shrinking as he held his hands up like he was surrendering to the cops. “No, no, no, man, we—we’re just messing around,” he stammered, his voice a little higher than usual, like he was hoping Sad Eyes wasn’t about to knock him out.
Sad Eyes chuckled, the sound deep and nonchalant, as he stepped even closer, his shadow falling over the boys. He wasn’t in their face, but the proximity was enough to send the message. “Uh-huh. Thought so,” he said, his calm tone making it clear that the joke was over. He gave Jamal a pointed look, waiting for him to fold, which he did almost immediately.
Jamal, in all his awkward panic, grabbed Ruby by the collar, practically dragging him toward the door. “Nah, man, we’re just leaving, don’t even worry,” Ruby sputtered, his feet barely catching up with the speed of his retreat as they scrambled out of the shop, heads low.
Sad Eyes watched them go, shaking his head with a smirk before turning back to you. His expression softened instantly as he sat down next to you, his whole demeanor relaxing as if none of what just happened had phased him in the slightest. “I swear, they don’t know what they’re doing,” he said, his voice dropping back to that familiar warmth as he reached out and brushed a stray strand of hair behind your ear.
You grinned, nudging his shoulder with yours, the corner of your mouth tugging up in amusement. “You know they’re harmless,” you teased, rolling your eyes at the memory of the boys’ awkward flirting. “Just some kids with big egos.”
Sad Eyes leaned back on the worn couch, his arm draping casually over your shoulder as he let out a soft chuckle. His fingers traced light circles on your arm, and you felt the easy warmth of his presence settle around you. The tattoo artist called him over with a nod, signaling that it was time to get back to work.
“Still, can’t blame ‘em for trying,” Sad Eyes murmured, brushing his thumb softly along your jaw before he stood, leaving a brief, lingering warmth in its place. He gave you a lazy, confident smile, the kind that always made your heart skip a beat. “But they’ll learn.”
You laughed softly, watching as he sauntered back to the tattoo chair, his steps slow, unhurried, that familiar swagger in every move he made. There was no doubt in your mind—he had the whole situation under control, and it was clear he didn’t mind making sure everyone else knew it too.
As you settled back into the couch, you couldn’t help but feel a wave of warmth wash over you, knowing that no matter how chill he seemed, Sad Eyes always had your back in his own quiet, protective way. And that, more than anything, made you feel safe and loved in his world.

ryan guzman plays battered and bruised so insanely well. it’s never overdramatized but makes me squirm and want to look away from my screen in the best way. i’m always so impressed when actors for shows like this that are so tragedy and action packed are able to play injuries with such nuance and realness without making it corny or too sterilized. his movements, breathing, micro expressions, and voice control are so intentional and so thoughtful. i just want everyone to rewatch him in the hospital bed after he got shot, him talking to buck after he destroys his room, and pretty much all of eddie begins (waking up after the crash especially; he does this gruff, breathy, wheezy thing that sells it every time) and give this man his flowers

BiAsBuck’s ficrec Fridays
Happy Friday everyone! Hope everyone is keeping safe and looking after themselves and each other in this here creative sandbox we're all playing in. I'm back again with another round of the fic I've been reading so far this month! You can find previous rec lists here.
16 August 2024
like i like my honey by @buick118 is a lovely one shot for some super sweet, romantic and caring domestic henren looking out for each other through the years! Hen's healing touch coming out in force to keep Karen looked after. This just made me feel so warm and happy, I love them and their love for each other so much! Plus the title is a Kehlani reference. YES.
when i see stars, that's all they are by @ithilien-writes was a gorgeous fill for the mixed media prompt of @summerofbuddie in which Eddie finds himself at a loose end and unwilling to go back to an empty home, so impulsively signs up to a community poetry class at the local library, makes some friends, and finds a way to channel his feelings. I really loved the slight fish out of water but giving it a go anyway vibe here, and how Eddie found putting his thoughts into words in poetic forms helped him to actualise his feelings.
an inch away from more than just friends by @littlespoonevan I absolutely adored and previously recommended part one which gave me all the romantic Eddie feels, and was eagerly anticipated part two and it did NOT disappoint!! In which Buck puts two and two together after Eddie shares a little of what he's been working through in therapy, and is determined to give Eddie the romancing he wants and deserves! The only problem is all the things Buck's doing to woo him it turns out he's kind of been doing all along. So so sweet, considerate and romantic. Beautifully written. I could just live here.
instructions on not giving up by @wildehacked this one's a hard hitter. Eddie's not coping and Buck is too worried to leave him alone, so invites him to join he and Tommy on their romantic hike getaway when disaster strikes. When the helicopter goes down after Tommy has a serious seizure, Buck and Eddie are grievously hurt and left to depend on each other to survive. Is rescue on the way? This packs an emotional punch but is well worth it for angst fans. Heed the trigger warnings! (Tommy is treated with respect but there is MCD, and suicidal ideation from Eddie.) Ow! My heart. It hurted so good?!
can't tell where you end (and i begin) by @absolutelybifurious Ravi invites the 118 out to a club, things escalate. Inspired by Ryan Guzman in Step Up (which I admit I've never seen but I HAVE seen behind the scenes rehearsal footage...hello), in which Eddie's got moves and Buck's got a problem about it. With a Lucy Donato cameo (yes thank you) and some very sultry dirty dancing. What more could you want?
the parts we play by @calinaannehart I have been absolutely loving following along with this actor!Buck au as a wip, and with just one more chapter to go now is the perfect time to start reading it! 'Buck isn’t a firefighter, he just plays one on TV, or at least that’s what he’s about to do. He’s offered the chance to shadow the 118 to learn what it’s like to be a firefighter. Eddie is fed up with these Hollywood types turning up and feigning interest in the job that he loves. Buck, however, is nothing like that and everyone can see the connection they have.' This feels really beautifully in character for an au and is expertly weaving in canon and reinterpreting it through the film star lens. So much fun to read.
PS - that's it for this week but as always, I'm on the lookout for henren centric fic, and early days Buck and Tommy (I like it best when it fits neatly into where we've left off in canon).
Feel free to self rec!

"why would tommy be interested in a straight man?" is that anon being serious??? 🤣 when the straight man in question is "whatta man whatta man eight pack Eddie Diaz"???
I'm sorry i had to laugh. most people attracted to men would try and shoot their shot with eddie portrayed by former actual successful working model ryan guzman let's be so so serious please
Hey Nonnie
Glad you enjoyed that anon and their ask - I wouldn’t normally engage - but it was just too entertaining not to - maybe they’re one of those people who seem to be watching 911 the alternate universe version - there are quite a lot of them around (I have most of them blocked but I know they exist!) - because they didn’t seem to get the whatta man eight pack Eddie who befriends women and breaks up with his girlfriends in the most hilarious ways!
I feel sorry for them - they’re missing out on the better version of the show!

Okay, with how things are looking and all the interviews popping up around it, it's really looking like Buddie's gonna go canon either by the end of this season or the beginning of next
Literally everything is pointing to them going canon (mainly Mr. Guzman being let out of PR jail lmao) but I can also see ABC waiting until next season to actually make it official. Here's my reasoning:
It's a new network and there's gonna be an entirely new audience of people meeting these characters for the first time
People need to see why Eddie wouldn't be with a girlfriend so Marisol is (unfortunately) still in the picture so he can break up with her
With the combined Cruise Ship disaster, Madney wedding, and only 10 episodes for the season, it's pretty packed with content
It's confirmed we're getting Buck and Eddie "friendship" scenes in every episode, so that could be a way to help warm up the GA to the idea of them being a couple
We wouldn't want them getting together to feel rushed
I hear your screams about them having 5 seasons of buildup and teasing, so them getting together right away wouldn't be "rushed". But again, it's a new season on a new network with some people as a new audience. To those who haven't seen the show before, Eddie breaking up with Marisol and immediately going out with Buck would probably feel rushed or forced to them so they'd need a bit more buildup to get behind the idea of "Buddie"
Alternatively, I can also see ABC doing what FOX did with Bobby and Athena in season one;
Having them go on a full on date at the end of the season (or it could just be one of them asking the other to hang out, nothing out of the ordinary) and at the start of next season they're making out against the fire truck 🤡🤡🤡
Tumblr media
I'm just saying this now so if they don't go canon this season I won't be (too) upset lol
We'll have to see! They're coming back in several hours🥰🥰🥰 See y'all then!!!
(I may or may not be live posting my reaction to the episode on here 👀)

I don't know I'd your still a fan of Encanto but hear me out.
Encanto and Owl House crossover, happens somewhere in season 1, where Mirabel stumbles across the door that Eda owns, and she eventually joins the Owl House family on their adventures.
The moment Isabela Madrigal and Mariano Guzman announced that they planned to eventually marry, Mirabel Madrigal had started saving up money. Her greatest talent was her sewing, after all, and Isabela had more than happily accepted her sewing her wedding dress. The money was meant to buy beautiful lilac silk- the rest of the stuff would be cheap, and Abuela promised to cover everything related to the dress when the time came, but Mirabel wanted to support the wedding, even with her and Isabela’s rocky decision.
Instead, she found herself tapping on the wall, behind a framed picture of her and Antonio at his first birthday party, and Casita opened up. Mirabel grabbed the pouch and weighed it. That looked like enough money to support her leaving.
It was a surprisingly easy decision.
After Abuela humiliated her in public, ignoring her worries to instead claim she was drunk, after her mother chose to ignore her worries of cracks, Mirabel found it was too easy. It was a rash decision, she knew that, but still. Her family didn’t need someone like her.
They didn’t want her.
It seemed like the party blocked Dolores’s hearing as Mirabel packed some clothes, her sewing kit, and the money she had stashed without interruption. The party would continue into the wee hours of the morning, which gave her plenty of time.
Casita clattered at her, but she ignored it. “I’m sorry,” she said instead. “But I can’t stay.” The floor tiles tugged at her, but she pressed on. Outside, nobody was around, allowing her to sneak into the kitchen and grab some snacks.
And then she headed outside, only pausing to wave back to a waving shutter.
The town was silent as Mirabel walked, holding her bag tight.
“Hopefully I packed enough food and clothes,” she had to muse. That was one of the issues of suddenly packing up. She didn’t have enough time to plan. “I should have enough money.” Now that she was thinking about it, Mirabel found herself pulling out the money pouch, pouring a few coins into her palm. “Okay, so this is about five…six, seven…nine…”
Something swooped and Mirabel found her hands suddenly empty of the pouch.
“Wha-” She blinked, looking up. A small brown owl, unlike any she had seen in the jungle before, did an almost mocking loop-de-loop. It gave a cheerful hoot and a nod of its little head before flying off into the night.
Mirabel blinked. The realization sank in.
“HEY!”
She took off after the owl. It was probably one of Antonio’s friends! If it go back to Casita, holding her money pouch, everyone would know what she was trying to do! Mirabel took in a deep breath and ran faster at the thought of Abuela yelling at her, accusing her of not loving the family. She couldn’t handle that.
Except…the owl flew past Casita. Mirabel held her breath as she carefully ran past, ducking her head to ensure nobody poked their heads out of the windows. The owl continued to fly, heading to the old village. Back when the Encanto was newly born, Abuela’s village had created a small shanty village to live in until the main town was completed. Mirabel took another breath, hunching in on herself as she gripped the coins tight. The ruins, to her, always felt like ghosts, covered in ivy and slowly reclaimed by the jungle.
The owl still flew through it and Mirabel still followed until the owl lowered down and down, eventually landing in front of a small hut. The sight that greeted her made Mirabel pause.
There was a door.
Not like the magic doors of Casita, painted with the portraits of the owners. Instead, a yellow eye stared at the little owl as it approached. Mirabel paused and blinked as it hooted. The knob turned with some invisible hand, and the door opened, revealing gleaming white.
The little owl hooted as if in thanks before hopping up.
“No! Mirabel launched forward, but the owl was already flying inside. She froze. Without that money, she couldn’t buy a place to spend the night or buy food when her food eventually ran out. She needed that money!
She took a deep breath, closed her eyes…
And ran inside.
-_-
Inside Casita, Dolores froze.
She knew the heartbeat of all her family members. Her mother’s heartbeat sounded like a thunderstorm, while Abuela’s heartbeat was strong and steady. She kept a worried ear to her tio Bruno’s heartbeat, reedy and soft. Mirabel was one of the loudest, matching her bright personality, until now.
Mirabel’s heartbeat suddenly stopped.

We usually don't post anything unrelated to the Quack Pack, but this news has us pretty upset. Although this is not an English speaking area, but a Latin American Spanish speaking area, it is still sad to say that a Latin American Spanish speaking voice actress named Erica Robledo died last week. :(
Yes, she acted in many series and gave many voices in Latin American Spanish dubbing, especially in the roles of Tanya Ratonovich (Tanya Mousekewitz) in An American Tail, Princess Ariel in The Little Mermaid Disney TV series, Dorothy Gale in The Wizard of Oz (anime version), Princess Esmeralda in Magic Knight Rayearth, Ran Mouri (Claudia Guzman) in Detective Conan, Nemo in Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland, Princess Irene in The Princess and the Goblin, Princess Flora in the Babar series, Hollyhock, Wanda Pierce and Maude in Bojack Horseman, Heidi in the film of the same name, as well as the role of Mary Magdalene in the film Jesus, Princess Zarina Leprechaun 4: In Space, Vanessa in Lupin III and some roles in the Maradona series and in other dubbings she gave. Wife is Leonardo Araujo, director of Latin American Spanish dubbing and mother of son Álex Araujo, who is an excellent voice actor for Latin American Spanish dubbing.
Yes, she also voiced Louie Duck in Quack Pack, in the Latin American Spanish dub and was very successful at it. Although the original American version is not bad, the Latin American Spanish was really great and you should listen to it (if there are those videos available on the internet at all) and a big thanks to her for voicing Louie. It is a great pity to lose her. Source: https://www.instagram.com/p/C2oVz1mN0wB
